Review Jinda Thai - Abbotsford

Karla Martinez
We had an early dinner on Saturday night in this beautiful place with a great variety of items on the menu to pick from. All dishes were super delicious and flavourful, a bit spicy if not used to but perfectly right for us. Staff were very friendly and attentive, service was quick with right amount of time between starter and main. Authentic Thai food and hospitality, will definitely be back.

Lovely atmosphere and food is delicious and spicy 🌶. If you are not able to eat spicy, I would not recommend you come here. Only giving it a 4 star as food was slow to come out. And they did not come out all at once, which was what we were expecting. Serving size was not too big, but saying that we were not able to finished everything we ordered. Highly recommended that you book in advance as the place fill up very quickly.

Absolutely amazing!! Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. Everything taste delicious but only the pandan crepe cake that wasn’t our cup of tea, the filling texture doesn’t feels like cream. Ice cream was super smooth tho.

Great food, good price, wonderful deco (including the bathroom), good service. I tried the Thai Milk Tea and it was delicious. I had a great time with my friends in the restaurant. The serving is moderate, which means if you have teenagers with good appetite, they may still be hungry afterwards. Parking can be hard to find in the area. Take public transport if you can.

Never disappointed with noodles here. Food is great, tasty and authentic Thai food. Service is okay, not spectacular but not bad. Nice decorating. Been here a few times and will be coming back again.

Place is great. There were couple of things I have noted, and I will share them with you. The satay chicken skewers were excellent. However, I did not understand the notion behind the small salad in a tiny ceramic container. If it is an appetiser, it cannot be shared. Tom Yum soup was too salty. I drank two litres of water after having the soup. Service was ok.

Celebrated my daughter's birthday at Jinda with the family. The verdict is that it is one of the best Thai food restaurants in the area. We love the food.

The food was good but it came out super slow. We got there at 8:30pm (with a booking), placed our order within 10 minutes. We ordered spring rolls, fried rice and a pork dish. The spring rolls arrived within 15 mins, the fried rice arrived after 40 minutes, and the pork dish came out an hour later. The service and staff were great, but the food shouldn’t come out that far apart. This happened to the table next to us too. They wanted to eat their curry with the fried rice they ordered, but were told the rice would come out in 15 minutes, so they ordered plain rice to go with the curry instead. Apart from that, I thought the food was actually really tasty! The fried rice portion is quite small, probably a single serve (not enough to share between two).

Always a short wait to sit down for a larger group, but wait is totally worth it 😃 The wait staff are always friendly and the Thai food is some of the yummiest, freshest I've ever had in Melbourne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend Jinda Thai 😃

Came here with friends on Friday night for first time! The place was a buzz and whilst our friends had dined here before we thought our first experience definitely won't be our last! Everything came out quickly and the tastes were authentic thai and sensational! Staff were attentive and friendly! Prices excellent for both food & drinks! What a gem of a place to bring either visitors or just as regular place for us locals to bring friends! Can't wait to return and introduce a few more friends to this awesome place! See you again soon!

Wow, what a fantastic Thai establishment! Enjoyed a fantastic meal there last night, with several memorable dishes - my favourite was the Penang Curry. It was so good that we backed up tonight and grabbed some take away. Tonight I was blown away by the flavour of the Larb, wow! Both times it was super easy for my to explain that I'm coeliac so as to ensure our food was gluten free. Couldn't rate more highly!!
Jenny Wood
I love the menu and the staff are ever so helpful. The restaurant has a great vibe; you could actually be in Thailand. I would highly recommend.

Superbly sensational !! One of the best Thai restaurants, that I have truly had the pleasure of experiencing, in a very longtime. The atmosphere is completely buzzing all around you and it truly feels so very lively, with this too. The flavours of all the dishes we heavenly and spiced too perfection. I honestly can't find one fault at all with this place. Service was very efficient and friendly also. Great job by all the staff members as it truly made my first experience here a fantastic one. I'll definitely be coming back.

Outstanding...best thai food I have ever had. We were there on a Monday evening. We had about 15 so in our group including 3 of our children with Partners. All at thee restaurant were in their 20,s and 30's apart from me and Brenda. It is a must do iin Melb. I heard the kitchen is under very strict instructions to keep it authentic and not to 'europeanise' it. Thanks tto Ed for organizing and his Housemates and all our group! Check out menu! A geat birthday partparty for Ed

Dined there last night for the first time ... what an amazing Thai food restaurant. well worth the wait for our table had a number of entrees and mains standouts were tamerind deep fried fish, Penang curry, mango ice cream and the Japanese cheesecake! So amazingly good if you’ve not been jump onboard if you have been you already know just how good this place is ❤️👏😘🌶

This is the best Thai restaurant in Melbourne. Great menu, lots of options. It's very busy & you can't book. You turn up & wait. You are supposed to be able to book at night, but the one time l called to book a table, I couldn't get anyone who spoke English. However, it's still worth the inconvenience. We keep going back.
Deni Lynn
By far the best Thai food I've had in ages, awesome atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Food was great... but service from one of the best staff name is "Amm" it was incredible !!!

Very bad service I just been in the restaurant and take the waiter so long to give me a menu event the couple who come after me they are been serve and take the order not telling me you are busy because today 29/09/2016 time is 1.30 pm I can count the table not to busy at all very dispoint with the restaurant have a good reputation with food but not improve the service

5 star food, 5 star hospitality. Very authentic Thai flavours and very warm and knowledgeable staff. It's always a pleasure to dine in this restaurant.
Tholitz Rodriguez
We booked on a weekday but been told we can sit for 2 hours only. This restaurant must be popular, it is just too busy. The good thing is we didn’t wait long for the food to be served. Food is nice but a bit pricey, small servings. Staff are nice.
Tan Jack
Stupid lousy management. You can't even get your seat ready after one hour after your booking time. Latecomers get their seats much faster than you.
Suchada Limlawan
Always love to eat here. It is one of the best Thai in town. It is authentic and super hygienic. Never give me tummy bug. Love to eat at Jjnda every day
Paul Nagy
Real Thai food in a terrific setting. Great service and ambiance.
Ed David
By a country mile the finest Thai food in Melbourne Explosive, delicious, fearless.
Amy Victoria Mackenzie
Absolutely amazing food. Fast service. And cool atmosphere. My favourite was the flat noodle dish.
Wendy Trajkovski
We had jungle curry, Red duck curry, Thai fried Rice a noodle dish and meat stir fry. They were all amazing!

ที่เลวร้ายมาก Having been a very regular Jinda customer for 3.5 years now, I was extremely disappointed about my last 2 experiences. Let me start off by saying that conservatively I eat at Jinda a minimum of 10 - 15 times a year, and in all of that time I have never been let down by the amazing authentic food. However, in December 2016, approximately 2 weeks before my birthday I attempted to book a table for 10, and was told no bookings are taken (even though I know they are), so I was forced to go elsewhere. Second, on New Year's Day, I attempted to take a table of 5, we arrived at 6.20pm and were initially told that it would be 25 minutes for a table (6.55). At 6.45 we were then told it would be a further 25 minutes (7.10). We were finally seated at 7.16 but with a caveat that we were out by 8.00 pm, leaving 44 minutes to order and eat. We reluctantly agreed on the condition that it only took 5 minutes for the kitchen to make an order. Unsurprisingly it took nearly 20 minutes and we received dishes we didn't order and one of the entrees only arrived at 9 minutes to 8. We were then asked (mid meal) if we wanted to order something else. When I said no because we wouldn't have time to eat it, they gave us the bill, which included 10 x $3 corkage fees for wine. When I pointed out that only 3 of our party of 5 was drinking they amended the bill, but I expect that they assumed given the time pressure we would have just paid the extra $30. I was so embarrassed about suggesting the restaurant and am deliberating to seek out an alternative thai without all the rules and excess charges.

Dined for the first time lad night. Food and service was excellent. Hopefully going back soon.

Great food, modern but authentic. Nice atmosphere in a warehouse setting. Service staff are friendly. Very busy so make sure you book in advance.
Donna Appleton
By far the best Thai food I've had. Understandably service was a bit slow due to the fact the place was full of customers, with people waiting. Always a good sign. Loved it, will be back

Everything is good . good food and service nothing to complen

So good that we went two night in a row. So busy, fully packed every night of the week. Such great food.

Best Thai in Melbourne! We have struggled to find legit Thai food in Melbourne but the search is over!
Yann Sandié
Amazing food. Very authentic like Thailand. Very good service also.
Ben Kaminsky
Let's keep it a secret !!! It would be great to see a Jinda 2 on the south of the Yarra !!! It is a very authentic experience. Like actually being in Thailand!!!
Ian Sadler
Meals are quite a small servicing but very good quality. If hungry suggest ordering more than you normally would. Overall very good
Trevor Ryan
Always consistent!!! The soft shell crab and chilli oysters are yummm
Marie Nicholson
This was my first time at Jinda Thai. Very busy and was lucky to be able to get a table as I'd rung the week before and told that I didn't need to book as not busy on a Sunday lunch. Food was amazing and staff friendly only one negative was the air conditioner blowing on me on a freezing wet day. I will return as need to try the desserts.

Best Thai food in Melbourne! Great service, staff are very friendly

Jinda Thai, located in Abbotsford, served delicious authentic Thai food. We ordered the roasted duck red curry and pad see ew, and both were packed full of flavours and had just enough heat. For dessert I had the taro crepe cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It wasn’t exactly Thai but nicely refreshing after all those flavours. It was bright and cosy inside the restaurant with its wooden themed decor. Service was average.
The Oracle
Hard to ark and a little difficult for the solo diner in that it is always busy and tables full
Prompt pert service as it is busy
Food is well poertioned and value for money
Simply put
Thai staples like green curry red curry
Fish cakes
Rice
Soups all good quality and fresh and fragrant
Can be warm in the summer and parking a pain with lots of sides and spices and products to buy and take home from their commerce shop
Well worth it for a two or three visit to see it
Very large lace but efficient
Joanne Liu
I love the decor of this place... it’s decorated really nicely and makes everything feel really homey :)
Whilst I’m not a fan of spicy stuff, I definitely enjoyed the curry (less spicey of course) and the pad Thai! The portion sizes are reasonable however I definitely think Ying Thai 2 wins in terms of portions.
I’m absolutely in love with the crepe cakes though!!! I tried the pandan, taro and milk tea flavours and I loved each of them... they were also served with two scoops of ice cream, which is a bonus! ☺️
Definitely worth a try, but I don’t think it’s as good as everyone hypes to be.
Cantika Permata Sari
great food and ambience, prices were quite high and portion sizes are small. food was a bit on the sweeter side and i think the mille crepes are just overrated. guess it’s worth the hype, def will comeback for the mains

The favourite Thai joint in Abbotsford!

This place has been around for ages and is still a favourite with Melburnians and tourists.

There is always a que for a table and it can get really busy. From entrees to main and desserts, everything taste amazing. Their curry dishes are so good and the pad thai has good flavours.

The portions can be slightly small so might be good to order more.

The sweet ending to the night has got to be the crepe cake and my favourite is the pandan crepe cake, that pandan custard that goes on top the cake is so good.
Chips Before Dips
The food here was absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew was tasty and moreish, the Larb packed a definite punch and had my partner in tears but I loved the spice and zingy flavours, but the absolute standout for me was the red duck curry. Possibly the best red curry I’ve had, so rich, flavourful and creamy.
The portions were a little small for the price and the food came out in a strange disjointed order which were the only slight detractors but I loved the food so lunch I’ll be back for sure!

The pad se could have been a little better. But overall jinda thai is the best thai restaurant I have been too and one mof my favourite restaurants in Melbourne

Really good char kway teo. The crepe cakes are also super yum.

6 of us went for a Wednesday dinner. The food was every bit as good as I remember, one of the best Thai place in Melbourne. Love the decor of the place. We ordered a variety of dishes to share- spring rolls, red duck curry, green chicken curry, stir fry beef and also had the desert coconut ice cream and crepe cake.

The food was mostly delicious- red duck curry was superb for me. There was one annoying thing about the service, however. The spring roll was 5 per serve. We asked if we could have one more, happy to pay extra. The waitress first asked if we should order 2 serves which was a silly suggestion because we just wanted 1 each, not have 1 each then 4 extra. Then she said she’ll check with manager who also said no. It’s a spring roll, how hard was it to fry an extra one? They tried to up sell us to get 2 serves again. was surprised for such a well established restaurant the service would lack simple common sense and inflexibility. Still, it was a small glitch. I still love their good and will be back. Very good price too.

Favourite Asian. I have been coming here for over a year, the food is so consistent and always spot on.
Wether it's take away or dine in it's always the same wait.
My favourite is the Thai Green Curry Chicken
Everyone here is friendly! Must visit

This is the second time I have been here, first time the service was a let down but thought I’d go back and give it another try. This time it was so much worse, they didn’t even apologise when they gave us the wrong rice, gave us jasmine instead of coconut. Took the rice back and it took 10 minutes for them to bring the right one out - without an apology! While waiting for the rice our dishes got cold. Then dessert was served but our plates from previously had not been cleared. So disappointing

The service was truly terrible and the portion size definitely not worth it
ARMANEATS
Booked three weeks in advance and received a confirmation, arrived to the location and they were closed! There were other people waiting with us as well. Drove 40 minutes to have dinner here, will definitely not return. Our reservation was at 6:30 then received a message at 6:42 how they cancelled our booking!!! How incredibly unprofessional!! Never disliked a place more in my life.
Sense Of Food
This place seems to be a favorite amongst Melbournians. But for a Thai like me, it was okay, but I didn’t quite love it since didn’t taste authentic.
Jessi
They have decreased the portion size, not worth it especially the price is not that affordable. Customer service is so so so so bad. They treat non-asian customers like gold; smiles when greet them, asks them politely and so friendly. Us, asian, was treated like a rubbish. Did many mistakes and did not apologise at all.

My god such a terrible service.
Kyron Conrad Junus
C’mon Jinda, you’re better than this!
We’re a regular customer and your food is great, so you better provide some good quality staff with non discriminating behaviour.
Such place turns me off.
Especially when most of your customers are asian who always bring bunch of friends and family at once and order the most food, in other words, where most of your revenue comes from too.
Donna Mae
4/5 Ambience
4.5/5 Food
4.5/5 service
Awesome place if you’re looking for Thai tradition! I really enjoyed all the dishes but the chicken cashew was a stand out for me! :)
Srslyfoods
When presented with both the main menu and lunch menu there was so much to choose from it was very hard to decide. I had the lunch of gra pow beef on rice and it was very good and not too spicy. I like thai food but am not too good with very spicy food so had to be careful when choosing. My dish had just the right amount of heat. The sevice was quick and meals came out without delay.
Kylie
Great Thai food, lovely service, but can be a little crowded and the tables are so close together it can be hard to get in and out. Food was exceptional, a little expensive but worth the price.
FoodieInMel
Very lovely place, we enjoyed our spicy pork noodles and the salad, the price were reasonable, great portion. Only thing was the service was quite slow, didn’t get the drinks till we finished the meal.
Suishavingfun
Not quite sure why it receives such a high rating score. Food tastes alright but nothing special. Portion sizes are quite small so prepare to order more that what you usually would. Space is large but packed with tables so wasn’t easy for us that we had a pram. No accessible entry.
StepiiGM
After being in my bookmark for so long, we finally went to give it a try for a Saturday lunch. In summary - nice decor, average tasting food, and unfriendly service.

For me, the dish of the day would be their deep fried fish with nam jim sauce. Solid 5⭐ for it. The seafood soup was refreshing - a great sour taste - however the squid inside were super chewy. Note that their servings were small, so make sure to order plenty! We had 6 dishes + 4 rice shared for 5 people, and we weren't even full 😅.
Sue
Loved this place since the beginning. Been coming here for their amazing food super regularly and even introducing friends here. Recently we’ve been noticing an absolute drop in service standards. Walked in at 6pm for dinner for two, and the restaurant wasn’t even a third full. The first greeting we got was whether we had a booking. When we answered no, we were told we could eat here but will have to leave by 7pm. We were fine with that, but it was the delivery + tone that made the whole exchange feel super unwelcoming - as if our being here was inconvenient for them. When ordering our meal, I asked if I could add an extra fried egg on my noodles, the waitress (who was very passive aggressive) gave me the weirdest look as if this was the strangest most unorthodox request she’s ever heard. She proceeded to tell me that this is not a chinese restaurant where I could order extra fried eggs. Wow. I’ve made this request countless times before, never once had it been an issue! Suddenly it’s a forbiddened request. This is the most uncomfortable meal experience I’ve had in a long time and we will likely never return here.

Jinda Thai Restaurant on our way to watch 'Hustler' at Hoyts in Victoria Garden was the best choice, we thought, we could make. Not having reserved a table we were a bit skeptical but the hostel made it possible on a condition that we vacate the table by 7.30pm. Easy!!

Ordered a puff, chicken cooked in Pandan Leaf, Coconut Rice, two vodka based drinks, Red Duck Curry and a seafood / Prawn Green Curry, and in the mean time, until the food came, we admired Honda's interior, which btw is tastefully done, quite a change from the usual modern touch and very grand.

First to come were the drinks which were perfect. Next came the puffs and chicken cooked in pandan leaves. Tasty, and quite a mélange of flavors varying from sweet to sour to spicy.

Next came was the coconut rice and the curries. To our surprise, they were quite underwhelming. Probably, we were expecting something quite different and unusual flavors....Especially after checking the ratings and tasting the starters. These are the curries we have had at so many places at relevantly cheaper cost.

Plenty of options for the Vegans and Vegetarians to choose from.

Hospitality is top-notch and so is the service. A bit expensive compared to the taste and quantity but quality was essentially good.

Got to eat here for couple times with friends so I can have a share plates, manage to try their Tom yum, Tom Saab, Papaya salad, Pad thai and Fish with spicy and sour sauce. Taste wise the Pad Thai for me is the star, Tom Yum and Tom Saab doesn’t really stand out compare to the “other” Thai restaurant. Great atmosphere, looks small from the outside but inside is quite big and have a warm feeling into it. Be aware that the portion is small so you might want to order more dishes. Overall, this place is quite good if you want to have a group/family dinner, because of the nice and cozy ambience.

Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
MELBFOODIEEE
honestly such delicious and traditional food - it’s just disappointing that the price point is quite high compared to other thai places in melbourne, as well as being smaller.
the pad see ew is a must try, as well as their sticky rice dessert (that is sadly extremely tiny as well)
would only come for very special occasions, otherwise would probably recommend going to isan soul in the cbd!
Albinah Mirza
I visit this restaurant at least once a month with my friends, and I always like to recommend it to people who enjoy authentic Thai food. The dishes here are so amazing that it takes you straight to Thailand.
I just wish that the meat served here was Halal so I could try chicken/beef, too instead of only sticking to vegetarian or seafood options.
Eat X Wander
Came here for a birthday dinner (but have been here probably 4 times previously) Jinda always has consistently great food. But the portions seemed to have gone smaller over the years.

We started off with some Thai fish cakes (recommend), skewers and Thai beef salad (yum, but very small portion)

Then had their beef masaman curry (delicious), yellow grilled chicken curry, stir fried squid (not bad), fried fish (sooo good, have gotten this everytime I've come), coconut rice, stir fried Chinese broccoli, pad Thai with prawn (also yum) and some Thai milk tea (super sweet 😋😋)
Probably my favorite local Thai place for a nice occasion
Call and book early as they get very busy and usually have seating periods.

Rally good tasty Thai food! Reasonable price with good quantity of food! Tried the yellow curry which is so good!

What can I say?! Jinda Thai is absolutely amazing. Always busy no matter the day of the week, and with good reason too. The food is always so tasty and well made, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Only suggestion I would have is perhaps offering different levels of heat as the level of chilli is sometimes a bit overwhelming. Thanks so much for your great food!
MeowCat
I absolutely love Jinda! Both the standard and price are great. It's a great restaurant to go to with a group of friends because it's BYO. The only downside is that the restaurant is extremely loud so if you struggle hearing definitely avoid.
Jinda is the best thai food in Melbourne by far!
Kheng OMNOM
Jinda Thai is probably one of my favourite Thai place in Melbourne and definitely lives up to the hype. We ordered many dishes here and I've been a couple of times now. I love their Som Tum with sticky rice, all curries, crepe cakes (they have the best ones here) and their thai milk tea is also amazing. Staff are welcoming also and food came out pretty quickly. Only thing is it can get super busy and bookings are necessary although it can get booked out. I feel the portion isn’t that big for what its priced out. Recently went and its even smaller than before.
Tania
Restaurant is always super busy. Unfortunately are currently out if crepe cake. You cannot go wrong with any food item. We had the cripsy pork, pineapple fried rice and chicken green curry. Would recommend all!
MrCheesy
Been to a few Thai places this is definitely one of my highly rated ones, the green curry was on point with flavour, the spicy fried rice went amazing with it (if you like spice), the salad was a little bland though and the crepe dessert was standard. Would come back for everything else though
Linda
I booked Jinda Thai last night for 7.30pm. Our friends drove over from Elwood and we arrived on time. The restaurant was full and the waiting area also full. When I finally managed to speak to the host with the ipad, I was told that we would not get a table until after 8.30pm. Other diners were having the same problem. We left to find another restaurant. At 8.05pm I received an email from Qandoo, Sorry, your reservation has been cancelled Unfortunately Jinda Thai Restaurant isn't able to host you on 22.08.2019 at 19:30. If Jinda Thai can't accomodate people they should not be taking bookings and stick to being a walk up restaurant.

For our last dinner in Melbourne we went for Thai food. This restaurant has very good Thai food for a Thai restaurant outside of Thailand. I would recommend it for authentic yummy Thai cuisine. Make reservations, the restaurant seems to be perpetually busy. #maneklady #manekeats #manektravels

BOY, WAS I SATISFIED! My friends and I order seven dishes and each dish was packed with its own unique flavours. My favourite was definately the spicy beef salad. The perfect blend of sour and spice, along side with the thai green curry. I would definately recommend going here if you're looking for a delcious and hearty thai resturant. I will definiately be back!!

You'll find Jinda Thai in hidden in a side street off Victoria Street away from where all the other restaurants are located. It's a very busy restaurant so they only allow a 90 minute booking period so be sure to be on time.

We were able to try a number of their dishes, including, but not limited to Chicken Green Curry ($18.90), Pad Thai ($15.90), Fish and Tamarino sauce ($25.90) and Pineapple Fried Rice (18.90). Bowls of coconut rice are $4.50. All the dishes were very tasty however none of the dishes were spicy as you would expect from Thai cuisine.

Be sure to leave room for dessert. They may not serve the traditional mango sticky rice Thai dessert, but the layer cake served with two scoops of ice cream was a highlight to the dinner. The cake is available in multiple flavours including taro, coconut, pandan and bubble tea. The dessert is probably large enough for two people to share, unless you are a big eater.
Foood4Dayzzz
Very busy, even on weeknights which is a good sign for a nice restaurant. Ordered the fish cakes, green chicken curry and the pad Thai prawn which were all great. When I entered the restaurant I waited for 20 minutes in a queue and when I left, their was still people waiting in a line to get a seat.

Probably the best Thai restaurant I have been to in Melbourne. It is extremely authentic (tastes like the food in Thailand, if not better)! I have been here numerous times and am never disappointed with the food! It’s extremely busy so definitely book a table.

The only complaint I have is that as soon as you stop ordering food (for example you finish mains and decide you don’t want dessert)... the waiters bring out the bill despite not asking for it, as they want you to leave but can’t actually say it. This can be a bit annoying when you just want to chill, socialise and drink wine (it’s BYO Wine) after a filling meal. Definitely worth a try though for the food!

Tucked away in a side street off Victoria Street. This restaurant presents well with a great vibe. The staff are friendly. Good size tables for groups. We had a group of six. The service was good and food was awesome. Highly recommended...

A dissapointed dining experience in here yesterday. The food has lost the great taste of origin thai food should have. Spicy is not spicy. Sour is not enough sour. The worst thing was the customer service attitude. They asked us to leave immediately after we finished the payment, even when we were eating the remaining food. Such a stubborn, impolite and unprofessional service. Also, they kept asking permission of cleaning the table while we wanted to keep the food for eating later. In the end, they just took away it. So you don't let me to eat but you still want me to come? Speechless

The food is average, but the servuce is terrible.
Food : 3🌟
Dessert : 3.5 🌟
Service : 🙃

Never give any restaurant for 1 star, all is because the service, we ordered quite all lot of food and paid around 150$ plus beers. The staff asked us to leave because the other customers is waiting for the table. They wanted to cleaned up the table ASAP but we didn't finished one of the dish yet. I told the staff keep one of the dish. But after 2 minutes, she came back to told us the container charge for 1$ 🙃 and took the dish. The attitude of the staff was terrible. Poor service. Bad attitude. No patience.

Let me just start by saying, if you've never been to Thailand or been many times and just miss and yearn authentic Thai food, this place is your one stop shop ❤ the flavours were nostalgic of the streetfood of Thailand. you will not be disappointed! Soft shell curry crab was amazing 🙌 straight 9/10 for sheer flavour 🗳
Soheil Mazhari
Good food but terrible service! We booked a table at 9pm, the kitchen was closed around 9.45 and we were given the bill (without asking) at 10pm on a Friday night! Before someone even ask us about ordering dessert! If you cannot provide service, you should not have booked a table at 9pm! It was so rude! I will never go back to this place!

What a fantastic find this place is. Booking online was easy and I’m glad we did as it was packed on a Monday night. They have a friendly, efficient team so, while busy, we never felt ignored. The food is amazing. The best Thai I’ve had in Melbourne. They do most of the commonly found dishes and a few that you don’t often see. All I tried were top notch, as good as you’ll get. Price is marginally higher than the run of the mill Thai places but not much and it is well worth it.

Service - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (quick service as restaurant is always full)
Ambience - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (cosy but a little tight on space)
Food - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (reasonable and for quality)
** booking recommended before going there for dinner

Went early and got a seat with no problems. Service was super friendly. Overall the food was delicious. Highlight was the red curry almost as good as Bangkok & up there with the best curries in Melbourne. Their satay sauces and the pad see ew were delicious. The sparkling was great value and taste. Only negatives, spring rolls really tiny serving and the roti was doughy. They gave me meat spring rolls in error when I ordered vegetarian ones. I am a veggie so wasn’t super happy that I had a bite of it. Aside from that, a great experience and can’t wait to return to have some red curry. Worth the trip alone. Update: Went a few weeks later and it was like we were at a different restaurant, the food was average and the same dishes tasted totally different. Such a shame

This place is always packed. The food is great and at a good everyday price. The taramind fish is outstanding and I love the spicy noodle salads. BYO wine as well is a plus.

Was very excited to try this place as I’ve heard good things about it and as someone who loves Thai, I’m always looking for new Thai restaurants to try out. First impressions, atmosphere was lively and cosy. The food portions, however, were smaller than what I’m used to getting. In saying that, the tom yum and som tum was great. The curry puffs had pastry that was too thick and made it difficult to enjoy. We got the pork pad see ew but when it came out, the ‘pork’ part was clearly missing, but 2 or 3 pieces. The chicken pad Thai, which I’d usually enjoy, had incredibly dry chicken. Thai milk tea was as expected (good), but the ‘pinky milky’ just tasted like strawberry milk. All in all, it’s a nice experience to go once, but probably not again.

Very popular Thai restaurant. I didn’t come and eat here but there was a lot of people when I came.

I wanted to buy the crepe cakes for takeaway. There was many flavours to choose from. They were all for $6.50, which was much cheaper than ones I saw in retail stores.

The crepe cake all tasted mainly liked cream but only with different sauces to really distinguish between them. I love the taro and salted caramel ones the most, but they were all definitely delicious.

My absolute favourite Thai restaurant ever!! Busy bustling atmosphere. Can get quite noisy in general but easy enough to have conversation with those at your table. Food is to die for!! Have been here numerous times. Reasonably priced. Great for sharing dishes if you’ve got a group. Love the soft shell crab with apple slaw as well as the barramundi with tamarind sauce. But all the food is fantastic and doesn’t disappoint. Can be quite spicy but they will accommodate for very mild spice taste preferences. Drinks wise, the homemade iced tea is always a winner :)

I can't fault this place. Thai classics done well, and in an authentic fashion (yes to chilli). The pork neck salad is well balanced and a satisfying accompaniment to the heavier dishes. The steamed garlic, lemon and chilli fish is a must try- don't be distracted by the other tables that have crispy tamarind fish...the steamed fish is equally, if not more enjoyable. The service is pretty good- prompt and friendly. Tofu kra pow is also delicious. They have a good range on their menu so it's great to go with a large group of diners so you can sample a bit of everything. Red duck curry seems to be really popular here but there are better, more exciting dishes on their menu. This place is noisy too, so if you and your friends are known to turn heads at quiet, romantic restaurants, this place is for you. To top off your meal, the layer cake is a must!

After a few years of avoiding Jinda, I gave it another go thinking their reservation system would be better. Unfortunately, it is still a let down. I called in at 6 to book a table for 7-7.30, the girl on the phone told us that we didnt need to book as they had a lot of tables available. After she reassured me, I hung up the phone and drove to Jinda. We arrived at 6.45 just to be told that they are booked out and we had to wait for approximately 15 minutes. The waiting period is not the point. The lady told us the reason we didn’t have to book was because it was not fair for any walk-in customers to not be given a table because we only were about to book 15 to 30 minutes later. It’s fair if we were late and we were going to make a booking for 7-7.30 which would be an hour to an hour and a half. I think they misunderstood what reservation really means. Now I remember why I don’t come here anymore.

Have tried twice the food here for lunch and dinner some time back. Captivated by their decoration and big area. Efficient and friendly staffs. One of the most authentic Thai food you can find in Melbourne. Noodles and ordered dishes. Limited parking around this area. Overall, happy to dine there and will go again.
This is a place always need to line up . But this time we were so lucky to have the table straight away coz the groups didn’t show up. if u compare with other Thai restaurant I would say that they offer comparatively small portion. But the taste is so authentic so i don’t mind that we order more dishes.

Really like this place. Nice food, nice dessert. Super spicy Thai food- I love spicy! The atmosphere is quite cozy. Busy all the time. Will come back !

Busy place with lots of seats but quite squished up. Nice layout that is warm and welcoming. Food tasted authentic and good and fair pricing. Staff are mostly courteous and do their job but not the friendliest.
Had the layered dessert green tea cake which in my opinion was only okay - creamy, spongelike and pancake like layered texture with ice cream on top. Not my kind of dessert as I love rich, heavy desserts like chocolate or cheesecakes.

Came here for my birthday! Booked a table for 13 people. The table is ready at the exact time it was booked. You can only stay for 1.5 hrs so you better be quick!

Considering the amount of orders we made and how crowded the place was, the orders came quiet fast.

In general, their foods were amazing and a portion of every order can feed 2-3 people (had to have a bite-size if you’re feeding 13.)

Staff were attentive during the entire dining experience.

The quality of the food at this restaurant is unquestionable. Lovely service from friendly staffs. I really like their boat noodles soups! Moo ping is delicious but the portion abit small. Might have to wait for abit if you come during peak hours!

One of my favourite Thai restaurant in Melbourne. Don’t know how many times I’ve been here before .. too many. When they are busy you might have to wait for a bit. The service is pretty quick. Everything that I had tried here they were all tasty! Good to come here with a group of people, as you could order more dishes to share. Highly recommended

Hidden from vibrant Victoria st restaurant, we went in an afternoon for lunch. Place has this Modern Asian mix provincial ambiance. Despite the place half empty, waitress didn’t want us to sit in a bigger table saying the area was closed. Then every time we had to ask her to get something or one occasion she was a bit argumentative over a menu item when we enquire about it.Food came up quick but were minuscule in size. We ordered soft shell crab salad, Mossman curry, Thai green chicken fried rich. Thai food has rich flavour profile however I felt it’s more overpowering sweeter taste in salads. Again it’s very minuscule size even hard to really enjoy without ordering multiple. Comparative to other famous Thai places, this place needs improvement in service, portion size, complexity in flavours to reach a high rate to reflect. Lunch it’s cash only but dinner can be paid by card. Adding to inconvenience. Overall quality of food, taste, service, ambiance against price gives an overall score of 3.3* Please check out photos!

Overall score: 22/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
in 5 words: fantastic Thai food in Melbourne
*
Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - my favourite dishes here are the ✅ soft shell crab curry ✅somtum ✅green curry chicken ✅steam fish with chilli and lime sauce ✅Pandan crepe cake. ✅ roti with peanut sauce was also delightful. the best dish here is def the Pandan crepe cake. Always the perfect end to a wonderful dinner

Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - despite the crowd, you can still carry a conversation. The only constraint is that you can only have the table for 1.5 hours so it can be rushed if you want to have a more extended dinner.
*
Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- the Pandan crepe cake is slightly pricey at $10 for a slice of cake and ice cream! As for the main meal, with a few beers you would be looking at $40-$50 per person
*
Presentation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - the food here is beautifully presented. I especially like the way the desserts look.
*
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- service was fast and friendly!

A very good and traditional Thai restaurant that I’ve tried, always very busy, so recommend bookings before, expensive compared to other Thai places but defo worth it. The service here is professional, friendly but sometimes can be a bit slow bc of the crowd, the space here is very cosy, tables are pretty close next to each other

Very poor customer service. I had a wiggling worm in my salad with no apology from anyone. The deep fried barramundi was nice but I would avoid the salads.

Was looking forward to finally eating here but was quite disappointed with the meal. We ordered Lard Nar noodles with flat rice noodles and red duck curry. The flat rice noodles were all sticking together and were quite mushy. Wasn't a nice combo with the gravy sauce. Also some pieces of duck in the duck curry had cartilage and some pieces the fat was too chewy. Would have been better with some fat that was soft and cooked through. Had to pick the pieces out of the curry which wasn't pleasant. The Thai milk tea cake was quite lovely and the red curry sauce itelf was nice!! Maybe we ordered incorrectly but I wouldn't come back at this price point when the food wasn't stellar

After watching the "Endgames", we were pretty full from eating a lot of popcorn but still needed dinner for the kids even tho they said they weren't hungry.

Thought Thai food would be the best coz depending what you order its never too heavy. Had forgotten the name of the restaurant and remembered that we had walked past with a friend before. That restaurant that was around the corner before the bridge travelling away from the city on the left had side as i referred before knowing it was called Jinda Thai.

We were pretty Lucky to find parking right in front as parking is an issue near there and the street that the restaurant is on is a no through road.
To top it off, we were pretty lucky to have a table for 5 of us which the waitress asked if only 1hr was enough for us. I replied her with "if you can serve it up fast enough, then we can leave within that time.
Didn't take us long to order as the menu was laied out pretty clearly. We ordered a massaman curry beef, duck green curry, pad thai, coconut rice plus a stir fried beef, which i forgot to take a pic of.
Meals came out pretty quickly which the not so hungry kids smashed it all down and even had to order more coconut rice. Both currys had a decent amount of meat in it and the sauce wasn't too runny or too think. They both had the perfect amount spiciness to it for kids to be able to still enjoy without burning their mouths. The pad thai was perfect as it wasn't too oily, too sour or too salty as I've had Pad thai else were and it just didn't seem like a Pad thai at all. For my kids to go back for 2nds especially my fussy son it was really good food.
As the meals came fast and even ordering more rice which came in a jiffy, we still had time to order dessert but was to full to fit anymore in.

The ambiance was very vibrant and and a nice east meets west feel to it. Staff was great and and there were many of them, kitchen and waiting which they all had an ear piece to be able to communicate to each other. At first my thoughts to an ear piece was "are you serious and do you really need to be that extreme" but yep they sure need it as by 6:30 pm, the place was crowded with many waiting for a table.

Booking is highly recommended or go early like we did.

Thank you to all of you @ Jinda Thai for the lovely experience we will be back for more.

My all time favourite thai restaurant here in melbourne. My favourite dish here is their soft shell crab curry. Portion size is not too big and the taste is really good and authentic. The place is more busy during dinner time so be sure to make a reservation beforehand and they only accept cash for lunch time.

Would recommend anyone who is looking for authentic thai food! Portions are alittle smaller but it’s still worth the try.. if you r a big eater u can order a few dishes to share with your friends!

Came on Tuesday night and it was very busy.

Ordered soft shell crab with curry sauce, beef panang curry and papaya salad. It was worth waiting for the orders and the foods were tasty and perfectly balanced between the spiciness and the sourness.

The soft shell crab was the highlight of the night with creaminess of the curry sauce, crunchiness of the crab combined with the scrambled egg which was unexpectedly blended really well within the dishes.

Definitely coming back to this place for more!!

Food was average however it doesn't live up to it's hype with all the other viewers. Had a table for 5 but couldn't fit all the food on the table. Food was not worth it's price.

This is where i found the best TOM YUM SOUP i’ve ever tasted so far, it was fresh, spicy and oh my goodness so very good!! Me and my friends ordered two bowls of the soup just because

We also got other dishes like the tamarind fish, curry something and others that I actually forgot all the names, but taste wise everything were all delicious!! The staffs were attentive and friendly as well, we also love the ambiance inside

Jinda Thai has definitely made our melbourne visit a memorable one, thank youuu!!!

One of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. A great place to satisfy your craving for Thai food. The pad Thai was good although the portion is a little small compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to.

Possibly the best Thai restaurant in Melbourne I’ve ever had. All the taste is so well balanced. The ambience is cozy. My favourite dish was the tamarind fish sauce.

This place is manic crazy in the evenings and hence, expect to wait for a table. Once seated, you're order will be swiftly taken and food on the table within 10 minutes. They obviously are able to have several seatings per night so expect that you can be in and out in under an hour. The food was good. Gra Pow Crispy Tofu was excellent, the fish with tamarind sauce was superb with a generous portion size. However, the portion of duck was much smaller and disappointed.
Kids welcome and there are high chairs available. Takeaway menu available. Dietaries catered for - to a point!
Wheelchair and disability friendly. Parking - well it’s just off Victoria Street - do your best as it can be challenging. Although good public transport with train and tram right on the doorstep.

4.5
Thai restaurant at its best.

The place is spacious and has a very cosy ambience. Most times it could get crowded so booking might be recommended.
Staffs were quite friendly, the food came out after a reasonable wait and getting their attention wasn't hard.

Steamed fish with curry sauce was lovely, the fish was fresh and meaty, the sauce was sweet, salty and very fragrant, the rice was generous as well and cooked perfectly, great texture.

The stir fried crispy pork with chili and basil was great as well, despite the pork skin not being very crispy and the meat was a tiny bit hard, the dish was very fragrant and flavorful, the basil leaves melts in your mouth.

Soft shell crab in curry sauce was a punch of flavor, definitely needs rice/noodle to accompany. The crab itself was crispy on the outside and soft inside, decent size, though some parts were soaked and wasn't crispy. The sauce itself had lots of egg scrambles and was very flavourful, there were also some celery sticks that gave nice texture and balance the powerful flavor though I'm not a fan.

Seafood pad thai was probably the best I've had in Melbourne. The texture of the noodle was great, the taste was not overempowering nor bland, as for the freshness and texture of the seafood and beansprouts were just on point. I love how there were mussels, fish slice in addition to the usual prawn and cuttlefish. It was a bit pricy for the portion.

Lastly, milk tea crepe cake was phenomenal. The texture, cream and ratio was perfect, crepe itself had a nice texture, and taste was just on point especially with the vanilla ice cream! A must try!

Overall, a really nice place for great Thai food.

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle
