Review Bomb Cafe Abbotsford - Abbotsford

3.2. Curious name. Curious place. Basic but not unpleasant fit out. Cute wallpaper in the middle room. Gorgeous chill out mix on, lovely mellow sound from the Jamo speakers in the middle room. Reasonable menu. Lots of brekkie favourites but not OTT. No water provided on my table which was unusual. My large long black was just ok and failed to scale any heights. It was a bit underpowered for me. Generic flavour too and no length at all. I ordered the vegan fry up for my brekkie. It was just the cleanser I was after. Sourdough. Avocado. Onion. Tomato. Mushies. Spinach. All nicely cooked. It was a tasty dish. Really enjoyed it. I’m surprised surprised more places don’t offer something similar. Neither the manager or staff were friendly or engaging here. There was no attempt at conversation on entry and ordering or on exit. No enquiry about my experience at all. There was little or no warmth evident. Good service is critical. It was all a bit flat for me here. Perhaps it was the cold, grey and wet Melbourne weather. But, I can’t see a reason to return here.

Perfect place for a coffee and something to drink. Owners are very nice and friendly, they have a wide range of food to choose from. Small and colourful but is the best coffee shop in Abbotsford. I had a hot chocolate and it was very good.

What a beautiful place to enjoy lunch today not too far from home, went there with my friend today for very first time. Such beautiful people and the owner the cafe and staff couldn’t be more happier will be back for sure thank you guys see you all soon 😀

Popped in for a toasted chicken sandwich while running errands nearby and was floored by how insanely delicious it was. Such a cute and unassuming cafe-front hiding culinary gems! Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had in Melbourne so I will definitely stopping in again next time I'm in the area!

Even your simple chai latte and spinach and feta rolls were amazing. Full of fresh and sweet spinach that was not bitter and not full of filler or really salty feta it was just ..so good. A perfect snack after my blood test.

I've had coffee here several times, the atmosphere of this café is like no other. Friendly, attentive service and also great coffee! My partner ordered a croissant filled with ham and cheese which seemed very fresh and came out to us quickly. I had an iced almond latte accompanied by cold drinking water. Perhaps sit down for your coffee next time in their outdoor area, you'll be transported to another place with the mystical vibes. A cute little feature; there's a speaker constantly playing bird chirping sounds hidden in the plants.

Amazing service from Rod and his team! You can tell they truly care about their customers. When he called he was very helpful in trying to pick the right cake out of their massive cake selections. Was all a breeze! Keep up the good work. We will be back for more soon. :)

Lovely atmosphere in something of a funky cafe. Coffee is pretty good which puts it up there with most Melbourne cafes. My friend said her meal was pretty good although the portion size was a little small. My healthy vegan breakfast was tasty and I felt totally smug after having had something that was a good start to the day. Dietaries catered for but make sure you confirm what you want because my friend had mayonnaise served with her meal even though she said she was anaphylactic to eggs. Staff friendly. Take away coffee available. Wheelchair friendly. Stroller / pram friendly. Reasonable parking but watch out for those parking inspectors.

Lovely local spot. I can’t go past the ham and cheese croissants - the croissants coming from Noisette. Apparently the Bomb guys charge less than Noisette do! Great coffee and a warm welcome complete the picture.

Nice cafe that serves a mighty good pie. I reckon I might come back when the weather heats up and as it has a nice outdoor area. We found a seat easy which made the experience pleasant.

Easy going, welcoming place. Menu is the classic daytime cafe - breakfast eggs in many different ways, great baguettes, pies and risottos/pastas made to order. Can be a bit of a squeeze as rooms are small but the back courtyard is something of a destination in the summer.

coffee was terrible.. where was the creaminess of the steamed milk??? the coffee tasted like dirt.. too hot.. and the place smells like a pet shop....

Wonderful atmosphere at Bomb Cafe. Absolutely loved the layout and decor throughout the cafe, the courtyard is especially sweet. Our coffees came to us quickly and tasted great! We each ordered from the daily specials - again the food came out quickly and was served with a smile from the staff. The food is nothing fancy but wholesome and tasty. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area and after a nice little casual feed :)

Got a coffee there this morning. It was piping hot, excellent froth and actually had a good amount of espresso in there. Very happy, will come here from now on.

I've been here a lot, consistently good no nonsense food and coffee. There's a good view from the stools at the front of the store and the outdoor area out back is pretty cool. There's a really nice vibe to the place, if the owners were any more chilled out they would be horizontal.

A great week day Abbotsford cafe where you can sit in the front window and watch the world go by or head out to the back court yard for some serenity.
Coffee - made how you ask for it - thank you!
Food - a great range of both snack sized and larger dishes - often a lunch special is up for grabs
Dogs - welcomed out the back (just need to get the side gate opened and navigate the back lane way.)
Newspapers - usually a couple floating around if you are killing time.

Such a great little weekday spot - the bacon cheese melt is exceptional. Good coffee and the boys are super lovely and friendly. Perfect courtyard with dogs welcome. One of the areas best kept secrets.

Difficult to put into words.... Read the reviews and thought it would be a great place to have a coffee at. let me tell you it was far from great. Firstly the barrista didnt know what coffee brand they were using....secondly after making enough milk to fill just over half the takeaway cup, he decided he would reheat more milk to top up.....of course leave the rest to get cold. I can't tell you whether the coffee was good or not because I couldn't bring myself to taste it.....the coffee smelt off, I couldn't find a bin quick enough ....I find it hard to even think about now. This was a coffee experience unlike anything I've come across before. Not a risk worth taking!.

Mum ordered an Eggs Florentine and I got the Eggs Benedict. Eggs well poached, the yolk slowly oozed out as you slowly cut into it. Hollandaise sauce to die for!

I've found this endearing café and I don't particularly want to share it with you. I want it to remain under the radar, to forever be a place where I can go to escape hipster staff so high on double espressos - no sugar - that they seem to forget you exist. On the other hand, it's so charming that the owners deserve to be flooded with business and quite possibly a hug or two.

A warm and friendly welcome. I have worked in the neighbourhood for 6 years and know this cafe well. i remember the previous owners...they did a fantastic job establishing this cafe...the new owners Rod and Sean are beautiful people, and are working hard to keep the standards of Bomb Cafe to a high level. They have retained the personality of this business, which makes you feel at home.
The service is efficient, and i am always guaranteed a perfect coffee, and i am fussy!
The food is full of flavour, fresh, loved the pumpkin orange and thyme soup!
Great job with the interior work, love the splash of colour images on the walls.

New management = bad coffee. Was devastated to return to my favourite Abbotsford cafe to discover that it appears to be under new management. While the new owners have given the cafe a much needed reno, they have no idea how to make coffee. Insipid and bitter, I've tried twice on two different days and each time couldn't finish the cup.

The food, too, has taken a hit. A new refrigerated display cabinet offers up commercially-made muffins that tasted cold and stale.

The real shame of this cafe is that it used to be a place that the owners cared about: food made with care, coffee that the was fussed over. Now it just seems to be like any other bland coffee shop you'd find in a shopping centre food court.

I think medium. Lovely Banana Bread but a bit too buttered.67% like it.Delicious though.Definately going back though.

Best coffee in Abbotsford without a doubt! Lunch is great during the week, simple tasty baguetts and the best spinach rolls ever! Staff are very friendly. Cafe could do with a bit of a paint job and maybe a bit of a make over as it comes across a bit run down. However, food and coffee are great, what else could you ask for. Will be back for sure

Without doubt the best coffee and breakfast in Melbourne, I have been numerous times and I can honestly say it gets better every time and trust me I know and like my food, I eat out quite a bit and am saying this is the best cafe in Melbourne

The omelettes are amazing.

Fantastic risotto. Loved the vibe of Bomb Cafe. Had the chorizo and mushroom risotto. It was definitely the best that i have ever eaten. The coffee was great too. Service was a little slow but it was friendly:)

Not if you're in a hurry. Delicious food, lovely service, awesome waiters. BUT don't make the mistake we did which was to go there in a hurry expecting to be served and finished within an hour. It's just not going to happen. Not even during the 'quiet period'.
Fantastic for a lazy weekend breakie though, will be back!

Tasty Breakfast. Positives- VERY tasty food 10/10
Negatives - Long wait for coffee to be brought out (15 minutes) followed by 45minute wait on the food.
- Place could to with a fresh coat of paint or some sugar soap on the walls. A liitle dollar spent could make this place look 10 times better without loosing it rustic vibe. Jazz up the garden & clean walls is my recommendation.
Big Eyes For A Big Tummy
Definitely a bomb of a place but cute and homely. Food was great and perfect coffee! Slow but friendly service!

Great coffee very smooth. Breakfast was yummy and tasty, go there early like we did at 9:30 to enjoy time out from busy citylife

Good food despite being overwhelmed. Went here with a voucher on a Saturday morning. It seemed like half of Melbourne had the same idea. I ordered achorizo omelette and the wife had ricotta pancakes. The food took a long time to arrive but the manager shouted us an extra cup of coffee each. Both the food and coffe was excellent. The manager need not have worried, the food and coffee made up for the wait. Looking forward to trying more dishes here.

Fantastic little gem of a cafe!. Somewhat of a diamond in the rough, the Bomb is a fantastic little cafe that do great food and exceptional coffee.

Staff are always attentive, friendly and personable - always up for a chat.

The place is rather small, so can get a little busy - but nothing out of the ordinary.

Their risotto is to die for, and one of the best i've had this side of the city.

On the fence hmmm..... Hope Matt the owner reads this:

Negatives - Business owner Matt was very friendly and accommodating but it was obvious he couldnt handle the influx of business he was having (possibly) due to one of those voucher deals because we waited an hour for the food to be served. Secondly, he served us the cardinal sin of all brunches, over cooked hollandaise sauce (eggs benny being the benchmark on how good a brunch spot is) which came more like scrambled eggs on top of poached eggs.

Positives - Truly great flavours and the pancakes and scrambled tofu are as good as what other reviewers have been raving about, unfortunately not amazing enough for me to wait another hour for them to be served.
BakeFace
Everything they do is wonderful. I live nearby and frequent this cafe. I must be pretty close to having tried everything. It's ALL good, wholesome, well portioned food, Matt whips up simple meals with quality ingredients chosen with care, and put together like a master. I'm not vegetarian but I have even enjoyed their vegie and vegan meals (scrambled tofu!) Coffees are great and thickshakes worth crossing town for. Never super busy, a well kept secret down a dusty end of town - just how I like it.

This place is DA BOMB!!. What a gem this place is. Love it.

So friendly yet relaxed and chilled. Nothing is too much trouble.

Great food, great staff. If I could afford to eat breakfast out every day I would be here.

nom nom nom!

Oh I miss you!. I haven't been here in a couple of years, not since I moved away, but I loved this place.

Staff were super friendly, coffee is ace, food is ace, heck everything is ace, right down to the little dog and the herb garden which they use in the restaurant.

A nice small local café that serves the neighborhood very well though I doubt it has enough to tempt me into driving all the way there for breakfast but if I lived locally, definitely the place to go for my coffees.
