Review Sog - Abbotsford

I don't give 5 stars very often, but I think this place is worth it. 65 for an 8+ course Korean fusion that was like nothing I've tried before. Each dish was delicious, and a harmonious balance of east and west. Who would have thought in a suburban restaurant! To top it off the service is amazing. Really attentive, almost nothing is too much. None of wonder they call it Sanctuary of God! Will be back for sure.

Wonderful and delightful. I brought along some of my Korean mates and they thoroughly were surprised by the innovative-ness of some of their dishes. Their pork kimchi skewers and eggplant were really good! All of the dishes were cooked extremely well and can tell that a lot of care was taken to make the dish. This is contemporary korean restaurant is truly a gem and only wished that it was closer to where I lived!

Great atmosphere. Serving creative asian food with Korean twist. The honey tea really complemented dishes.

What an amazing little restaurant, great food with lots of attention to detail. Service was excellent as well and portions were on the smaller side but very flavourfull and high quality ingredients.

The kimbab was very good, flavour wise, it was better than the majority of burgers, also unexpectedly filling. Chips are initially ok, but the more you eat the better they get. The chicken has a good base level of spice, the plain chicken is unsurprisingly, a little plain but it is good overall, and any condiment or sauce would go very well. Over all, very happy.

Ordered on uberEats, food was packed really well, burger came intact! Everything tasted absolutely amazing!! Will order again for sure

The sweet and spicy, and shallot and garlic soy fried chicken were incredibly good. Definitely the best KFC in Western Sydney. The cheesy chips owned too. What a discovery! Absolutely awesome food truck.

Basically Korean Fine dining at very affordable casual dining prices. Every dish is an experience and you should treat it as such. Top compliments to the Chef. Favourites included the eggplant, crab seaweed sticks, and the wagyu beef rib noodles. Service was pretty stock standard, could use a few more smiles to be honest - but nothing that soured the experience. Overall - a must try.

Not one for writing reviews, but this restaurant was soooo good I had to. Service was warm and friendly, the restaurant is small and intimate and the food was divine. Really can't remember the last time I enjoyed food so much. You must have the pork belly and I never new Brussel Sprouts could taste so good. Highly recommend.

Wonderful fusion food & lots of vegetarian choices in entrees & sides. Maybe a few more vego choices in mains? But the choices that were there were VERY nice. Sorted it by 2xvego entrees vs one meat main course.

SOG is an absolute favourite. The food is exceptional and the service from Rachel and the team is so warm and welcoming. Lots of favourite dishes on the menu with pork dumplings with kimchi a standout on entrees and Seafood pancake on the mains. As many have said so lucky to have this high quality restaurant locally.

Forking Around Sydney
A contemporary Korean restaurant in the waterside suburb of Abbotsford, SOG (Sanctuary of God) is a revelation.

The menu is full of modern dishes with a wow factor, and the entrees show that right from the beginning.

The Spicy BBQ Pork Roll is a fantastic pork roll full of interesting flavours and textures, given a Korean touch with fried kimchi, while the Pork and Kimchi Skewer is an unusual take with pinwheels of unctuous pork belly paired with parmesan mayo and Gochujang ketchup.

The mains are equally excellent, with the Crab Sujebi the standout, using blue swimmer crab, smoked feta, fish roe, and chewy rice cakes bound together by a wonderful crab-soy cream sauce. The Wagyu Beef Ribs are a good version of the currently on-trend dish, with tender slow-cooked beef ribs paired with some interesting elements for a sweet, salty, and sour delight.

We only had one side but it was very impressive, with the Triple Cooked Potatoes crispy and mashy at the same time.

Lastly, the dessert (an often overlooked course in Asian restaurants) of Apple Pastry with baked apple pastry shaped into a rose and complemented with two exotic elements (omija gel and Sojunggwa ice cream) makes for a superb end to the meal.

Do yourself a favour and eat at this wonderful Mod-Korean restaurant that is the epitome of a suburban gem.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
A tiny strip mall in suburban Abbotsford wasn’t where I was expecting to find one of the best modern Korean meals I’ve eaten. S.O.G. Restaurant is two years old, but seems to have flown under the radar, perhaps because of the location, small number of seats, or the arguably terrible name. It stands for Sanctuary of God, and while it was intended to imply that the restaurant is a peaceful space, the waitress also let me know: “we are Christian.” Don’t let the display of privately held belief put you off, the menu put out by this young couple – Chef Giwan Kim and Pastry Chef Sun Young Park – is quite extraordinary. You’ll enjoy it in a small dining room that is softly lit by caged Edison bulbs tied around hanging driftwood. On the walls of the neutral, organically toned space you’ll find traditional Korean windows, with their intricate wooden designs. Wood is also employed in many of the serving items, including the Snack Plate ($16). Drawn from their...

Korean food with a modern twist! Desserts are bit too sweet for my like, i.e. lacking some contrast. Nevertheless we enjoyed some tasty dishes with fresh ingredients. Staff are friendly and attentive. Great little local gem! We will definitely go back for more!

We were blown away with how good this little local eatery is. For starters we tried the monthly special bulgogi slider - OMG so delicious, we could have eaten a dozen of them!! The KFC was perfectly crunchy and the bibimbap was the best we've had so far. The service was helpful, friendly and warm. Will absolutely be back

Delicious and beautifully presented contemporary Korean food in a small pocket of Abbotsford. This is a hidden gem that must be discovered! I'm told the menu changes regularly so I can't wait to go back for more! Make sure you book because they sure get busy.

Fine dining in Abbotsford. Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Sydney. Food was delicious. No cooking your own as the usual Korean food but fresh good food with the presentation being that of any top restaurant in Sydney. The service is great and very nice atmosphere. Highly recommend. My new favourite place to eat.

•Newly restaurant in Abbotsford
•Friendly staff and great ambience, had mood setting jazz music playing in the backdrop
•As with new restaurants they are still finding their feet, I would definitely come back again to try the other dishes
•Kimchi Jeon (Korean pancake) - delicious and packed with flavour. Good combo of textures
•Slowcooked Pork neck - slow cooked for 18 hrs it was tender and just melted in your mouth, flavours were great, loved the sweetness of the pork that complimented the pickled vegetables
•Clam Sujebi soup - fresh clams, dish was balanced perfectly, soup slightly salty but the vegetables and rice cake gave it the balance it needed, could of been more generous on serving
•Wagyu beef tartar ssam - egg yolk popped and drizzled out perfectly, fresh meat. Tasted great, slightly stringy in the meat but taste made up for it.
•Miso crime brûlée - brûlée is salty as you expect with miso but was complimented by the rice cake ice cream and sesame's sweetness, an interesting dish! Almost mastercheffy with the savoury take on dessert
•Would like to see their take on fried chicken and tofu soup added to the menu
