Review La Rambla - Adelaide

Angie
Service was great initially, the waitress accidentally dropped a croquette off the dish. She offered to replace the item or deduct it from the bill. Though the food tasted well the waitress also realised her explanation regarding the octopus tail was not clear enough. We were told it was a grilled octopus on a pumpkin purée. When it arrived the Verdé on top contained coriander and the octopus contained cumin. If we had known this we would not have ordered the dish due to allergies. They were very apologetic and removed the item from the bill which was appreciated and something restaurant staff don’t do usually and can come across quite rude. The service was of a high standard and I recommend this restaurant when in Adelaide for wine and tapas. The serving sizes is generous for 2 people. I would return on my next visit to SA.

Came here for a leaving/ thank you dinner for 12 and they were very accommodating with the banquet menus + opting dietary alternatives. The food itself was spectacular with interesting flavours and fresh produce - highlights would be the veg (charred broccolini, asparagus in romesco sauce) and deer (so palatable!). Also open on Sundays! Would highly recommend

We dined recently and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were very helpful and explained the menu in detail, which we found accurate upon presentation of the dishes we ordered. The Ministry of the Clouds Grenache paired perfectly. We would definitely go back the next time we visit Adelaide.

Came here for Dinner with partner on Sat night. Waitress was very helpful in seating us even without reservation, the staff are very cheerfull and service is great. Tapas place so plates are to share, having said that portions are small (chicken croquettes $15). Best food on the menu is the Braised lamb ($18) They have a great collection of drinks, do look out for the specials menu put on the wall.

Amazing customer service and the food was great. My girlfriend and I travelled to Adelaide and were looking for a place to grab dinner on a busy night in town, and they let's us walk-in and sit down. Food was a little bit expensive but overall I had a great time

My aunty has IBS so was a bit selective with food. However with the help of friendly staff and chef, they were very accommodating to her needs. We were happy to pay extra for all the dishes we were being particular about but they took it off the bill. My aunty was super impressed with the customer service and gave $20 tip. Overall great vibes, great food and exceptional customer service!

It's hard to fault this place. We arrived early and were warmly welcomed by Natalie and Paige, sat at the bar and was served awesome sangria & cocktails, which set the tone for a rockin evening. We chose the feed me menu and just let chef do his thing. The food was fantastic, portions were generous and each dish packed with flavour. One thing that really stood out was the presentation. Normally tapas is just slammed into bowls with not much love, but here every plate was beautifully plated. Stand out dishes were the Croquetteas, Morcillas and Jabali con Salsa Verde.

Seriously amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of this place; brilliant decor, efficient friendly service, flawless food & sensational booze offering. This is firmly on the 'must visit again' list. One of my best dining experiences in recent memory.

I was amazed at the service I received from a young waitress working here. I have anaphylactic allergies to tree nuts (which means I can die from eating nuts if I don't get certain medication in my system quickly enough), I notified the waitress of my allergy and the severity of the allergy and she suggested I get a salad from the menu which they could leave the walnuts off as there were no nut free, vegetarian meals on the menu. She assured me there would be no nuts in this meal. We were sitting upstairs in the darkened bar area, where I received my meal and was assured by a different waiter that there were no nuts. I also looked and saw no nuts in the meal. I continued to eat my meal and starting noticing my throat swelling up, I dug down in the salad and found multiple walnuts! I told the waitress who I had initially spoken to that there were nuts in it and that I had already eaten some of the meal, and she responded with the exact words "well it's not my fault". I was astounded that these words had just come out of her mouth, I was actually speechless, she then followed that with "you've got an epipen yer?", she then continued to just walk away huffing and rolling her eyes. I don't know about anyone else with allergies, but I know that I don't particularly want to stab myself in the thigh with a giant needle full of adrenaline just because someone else was careless with my order after being assured multiple times that there were no nuts in it. I then had to rush to a 24 hour pharmacy and overdose on antihistamines all whilst my that was slowly closing over to avoid having to use my epipen. I still can not begin to fathom what on earth may have been going through this young waitresses mind when she decided that those two responses were appropriate in such a situation, it's utterly disgusting customer service.

We came in for my sisters birthday. And the place was lovely and heated we had the $30 tapas menu and the food was amazing. But it all came out a little fast and we didn't really have a lot of space. I would have given 5 starts but the service from the waiting staff was a little poor as they had no idea what food they were putting on the table when we asked.. just a little lack of knowledge but it was disappointing.. But overall our night was a success

Some of the best tapas we have eaten anywhere in the world, including on many visits to Spain! Great attention to detail in the presentation, superb flavours, generous portions and some interesting and imaginative tapa dishes - cod croquettes and the swordfish special were particular highlights. Also, a varied wine list with some high calibre options. Highly recommended!

Definitely an asset to Peel St! Rock up hungry and thirsty, grab a drink, then just choose a bunch of dishes at random and tuck in as the food rolls out. All the flavour combos are amazing and you really can't be unhappy with this kitchen doing its thang. If you like a bit of a buzz this is the place for you - the atmosphere has it in spades.

Party of 3. Arrived at booked time 6pm on Wednesday, and promptly taken to our table by friendly staff. Place has nice warm atmosphere good for both families, friends and romantic couples. Seating at bar available. Ordered first 6 tapas items and couldn't fault any of them, best tapas ever had in Australia. Fast service. Ended up ordering another two. Good sized servings made us full. Would certainly return.

Looking for a bite on our last night in Adl, we felt like Spanish (since I was in Spain in May 2018), we heard a lot about the eateries in Peel Street, so we booked La Rambla Tapas Bar.

Since it was a very warm day, we opted for a table outside (inside was too warm and felt a bit dark and noisy).

Lovely attentive staff, we were asked 3 times by different waitstaff if we'd ordered drinks :-)

We ordered drinks while waiting for our order. Peel Street is a great place to chill relax and people-watch - I LOVED the vibe, and this would have been missed if we'd eaten inside! Our food arrived, we'd ordered the Garlic King Prawns (6), BBQ'd Chorizo, really delicious but the serving was very small (one chorizo cut into 5 pieces), Cod Croquettes (5) and the BBQ'd Octopus (I'd already put them on the plate before I remembered to take the photo - sorry!) Again a very small serving for the price, but DELICIOUS!Would I go back again? Yes. but I'd have to order another serve of Chorizo and Octopus.

The meal, two mixed drinks and two beers was $50 each
The Fat Duck
Sensational food, nice size servings. The service was very very good, friendly & attentive.

I can highly recommend the meatballs, delicate & fresh with a rich tomato sauce.
Casual SA Diner
Bloody good. Staff were excellent. Great wine list. Food was excellent although we did get some salt overload after 6 or so dishes. It was all delicious though.
The lighting was a bit harsh. Little spotlights in the eyes. Not sure what they were thinking there.
Always a hit. Great atmosphere, always great cocktails and wine choices - kitch Spanish but hits the spot. Some dishes need to be reviewed and perhaps refreshed, above all don’t try put Parma and sell off as Jamon Serrano - some of us know/can tell the difference!

Food came out very quickly, which was great cos the hunger was real. The range of tapas was fantastic, the chicken croquettes and steak were cooked perfectly. The red wine chorizo was just yummmm. Service was a solid 10. Four of us ordered about 2 and a half dishes each and shared everything - filling but not to the point of meat sweats. Yasss.
Alex
Fantastic restaurant with delicious, authentic Spanish food. We had the patatas bravas (so good that we ordered a second portion!), pippies and chorizo, gambas al ajillo and the meatballs. We thought all dishes were spectacular and wish you were in Melbourne!

Tasty food, very tiny portions
If you're thinking dinner, eat somewhere else and come for cocktails and snacks
Can get very busy but nice and cosy

La Rambla is a great place for drinks and I finally tried the food for the first time - really good. Perfect drinking food. Have a few small things or have some big things.

I've been here many times and have enjoyed every time. The last time I was there, I went with a few friends and we ordered the banquet. So much food and variety, but too much that we left having over eaten. The music that night was on point, mixture of old school and new school hip hop.

A great little bar, friendly attentive staff, all of which had good knowlege of the menu and explained dishes well and recommended quanity of food required for 3 people. The food arrived promptly and looked great and tasted delicious, the flat iron steak and blue cheese sauce was a standout.
Overall good food and good atmosphere.
Adventures Around Adelaide
Sumptuous spanish cuisine generous serves to share blue cheese steak albondigas and potata bravas in rich creamy tomato sauce absolutely delicious. Sangria by the carafe strawberry and mint is my favorite so far 😆

I was excited to try La Rambla after looking around for new places to check out.. Sadly, I was not able to do so. Yes, It was a Saturday night and yes, it was busy so I didn't expect to be seated straight away.. But after multiple waitstaff walked straight past us, one even passing three times, without so much as a hello then to top it off, four new customers walked in and that same waitress who had passed us three times walked from one end of the restaurant to the door to greet the new customers.. We then decided to leave and we ended up having a wonderful meal down the other end of peel st.

Loved this bar! Different to others as it is more spacious and is a space to dine comfortably. Food was great and service was on point. Drinks all reasonably priced and a good range! Highly recommended

The specials board was confusing. I almost ordered a sangria made entirely of sparkling wine, which is just champagne if I'm not mistaken. Overall, mystic beats and fine holiday fun.
Kelly Costa
Awesome vibe, really enjoyed the food. The service was good and any problems on the bill were fixed easily but we did have to check it carefully.
Great location and the wine list was good

I'm not very familiar with bars or cocktails, but I loved the vibe and atmosphere of this place on a Friday night. Most of the cocktails ordered looked and tasted similar (each having a hint of passionfruit in it), and now that I think back, I am a little regretful I didn't try their espresso martini which was what they said they were good for.
Famished
Trendy bar offering a tasty selection of tapas. I had the 'Patatas Bravas', which really packed a punch. Definitely keen to try more from the menu, and hopefully have another deluxe-sized wine from the generous bartender.

Went in on a Saturday night with group of 7. Under staffed. Difficult to get service, food orders forgotten, food came out at odd times, even table water was a BIG ask. Food was ok. Vibe good.

In Adelaide’s current small bar heartland – Peel Street – stands a three-storey tapas bar, which is surprisingly warm and cosy on the inside, with a dark, industrial-type interior, and plenty of warm bodies happily partaking in the Spanish fiesta.

After waiting 20 minutes at the bar, caught behind an influx of cocktail making, we sat outside on the small balcony. However, given it was also the smoker’s corner we weren’t inclined to linger longer than one drink, or attempt another stint at the bar, and left a little bit underwhelmed.

But next time I’m in town I’m willing to let La Rambla have a second date. It seemed a shame not to try the menu that includes everyone’s favourite faces of cured meats, croquettes and Spanish meatballs, or a jug of Sangria. I do hear the food is wonderful.

Have been to this place for events earlier.. But decided to try it tonight with a couple of friends.. Perfect pick.. Just what we were looking for.. Great food.. Well presented and perfectly garnished.. 5star in taste.. Try the lamb and chorizo.. The staff is super friendly and helps you out decide from the great selection they have.. Well done guys keep it up will be back worth every penny..

Best tapas I've had in Adelaide! Great menu we had about 4 plates between 2 people and couldn't get through all the food. patatas bravas was delicious, as were the others we tried. But the best was chorizo in red wine with some bread to soak up the syrupy red wine sauce. Great cocktails too.

La Rambla on Peel Street is one of the lesser known restaurants in the Leigh/Peel street area. A tapas bar (think Bar Torino, Udaberri or Casablabla), La Rambla offers casual dining with delicious food and great drinks.

We visited here on the Friday night of the Fringe opening weekend. Inside, the bar was busy but not full so we were able to get a table for two right at the entrance. There was a great atmosphere with good music playing and welcoming bar staff.

The food menu is exclusively small dishes and tapas. Additionally, there is a decent specials board which we are told changes daily. A big list of $30 sangria jugs is great - there's also many craft beers and local wines.

For food we ordered chicken croquettes, jamon and Brie on bread, seared tuna, and the waiters suggestion: braised goat with mushroom. We were surprised at the size of each tapas - so beware not to order too much food. All the food was really good - seared tuna was the winner, however, I found the goat/mushroom dish too rich.

In all, I will be returning to try some more of the tapas and would recommend others to also check the place out.

Great food, great wine, great service!

We went in and had a handful of their pintxos which were all delicious! Would definitely go back again for a nice bite to eat.

Really great Tapas and Cocktails! Don't miss out on the chefs selection, and have a go at working your way through the Cocktail and Beer list. Staff are great and really know what they are talking about. Will definitely be going back.

Great tapas and drinks place! I loved it here, from the friendly and attentive service, to the delicious tapas. Everything was amazing.

Our waiter was very charming and helped us pick our sangria jug, which was spot on. The tapas were all very delicious, my favourite was the chicken croquette, while my partner enjoyed the sliced beef, which was cooked medium rare. My only issue was that the patatas were too heavily covered in mayo and chilli sauce, which made it impossible to really enjoy just the potatoes.

Would recommend this place to all looking for a cool little drinks and tapas place.

We came for a quick pre dinner bevvy and had to try a few tapas, there are so many choices though I need to come back to try them all! Tried the meatballs, croquettes & potatoes bravas- be warned the potatoes are a big serve of deliciousness we got full fast haha! Service was efficient and food arrived super quick and to top French Martinis- Freekin Deelish!🍸👌😊

Amazing food and chefs sections what a brilliant idea. Fresh and different techniques Thanks for making our night so great.

Great food and sangria! Had squid, lamb rack, potatoes bravas and chorizo in red wine all very tasty! Had a jug of sangria and walked away thinking that Peel St continues to deliver great food!
FoodSomethingSomething
Delicious new tapas down Peel St. Potatoes were crispy and the lamb chops were divine. Chorizo was good, nothing super special about it. The meatballs were balanced and had enough sauce for what you were given. All in all, I'd give it 7/10.

Point of Difference: a Sherry menu!
Verdict:
Mirko: Nice food, great catch up venue - 6.5/10
Amanda: an easy venue to catch up with friends over some Spanish treats, just missing that extra point of difference on this occasion 7/10
Our final say - Hola!

Great catch up place. Saturday Night and the place is pumping, we were fortunate to arrive and get a table, as people were leaving.
The bar has a good feel about it, and has three different levels.
The staff are very friendly, unpretentious and eager to please.
The food is designed for sharing, and does a fair job. The wine list is interesting and caters for all budgets.
Dishes purchased were the prawns, potato bravos, an escalivada (grilled vegetables) dish and sliced steak with blue cheese sauce.
Everything was tasty enough, prawns a bit oily, and I love blue cheese and steak so I needed a fuller flavour in the sauce.
I did enjoy the place, and will return.

There is a Tapas Bar down on Peel Street and it is called La Rambla Tapas Bar. Amongst all the pubs and bars on Peel Street, this one stood out. Upon walking into the bar we were welcomed by friendly staff.

Nice. I had a lovely lunch here. I agree with the other comments re patas bravas and not being crispy. I noticed a couple of the dishes we ordered we lacking sauces and for me thats a bit disappointing. Service was great ,wine list needs some improvement, however great flavours. Some tweaking required. Overall, i like!

Chef selections. A friend of mine celebrated her birthday here recently, the staffs were very friendly and accommodated our large group well. We had chef selections of tapas (40/pp) by the end of it we were so full, enjoyed the sangria that goes with it and the cost very reasonable! Would definitely come back and recommend this place to friends/family.

A Recent Trip Down Peel St. Great location in amongst the Peel St glory. Stopped there for a few drinks and some light Tapas.

- Staff were really friendly and professional
- Service was prompt
- Croquettes very tasty, however needed some type of sauce to accompany the tasty treats.
- Patatas Bravas, sauce was great however the potatoes appeared to be boiled and not crispy like those you find in Spain.

All in all, a great spot for a drink and a bite to eat.

Delicious. Tasty. The best tapas i've ever eaten in ADL. Waiter was informative, and food arrived at a good time. Food was fresh and the quality was stella.

Highly recommend!. Dropped in with my sister on Sunday night - beautiful selection of dishes - all delicious. The owner gave us a complimentary dish to try (new to menu) - the paella balls were amazing - hope they are a regular. The owner was extremely helpful and courteous. Great end to a busy day - will be back!

For dinner tonight we visited a new Tapas bar on Peel Street which is between Hindley Street and Currie Street. I was quite surprised how many new bars and restaurants are popping up in little streets like these in Adelaide. The place looks like a typical bar but the place was full of young professionals. The food was as close to traditional Spanish Tapas as we can get in Adelaide. Out of all the Tapas place I have tried in Adelaide this was the best. Definitely would be back again and definitely would recommend this place.

Spanish Peel St January 17, 2015 A rambla is a ravine. I already knew that though. :) The place is full of trendies, and me. No one knows who I really am. :) I'm like Clark fucking Kent. Tortilla Espanola 6/10 Spanish potato omelette. This has a strong pepper taste, and a reasonsbly solid texture. It's a bit more interesting than just potato and egg. Croquetas de pollo

The latest establishment to join the ranks is La Rambla, a place that serves Catalonian style tapas, pintxos (various ingredients held together with a skewer) and montaditos (various ingredients on top of bread slices). The menu is divided between cured meats and cheeses, montaditos and the more conventional tapas dishes.
