First time visit and this place does not disappoint ! Funky atmosphere with friendly, accommodating staff whose focus is on you having the best experience at their cafe . The food was just at good with plenty of healthy options and twists to tantalize your tastebuds . Highly recommend you check this place out if you haven’t already ...special thanks to Nadine and Rosy !
I highly recommend Peter-Rabbit for any occasion!! Atmospheric eye candy and a wishing well, picture perfect surrounds. I Loved celebrating my birthday here! Friendliest staff and scrumptious food that came out to my table of 18 guests, of all ages and we got to eat together - most satisfying day. Well organised happy place 10/10
The new pumpkin & brussel sprout dish is unreal... so much so I tried to recreate at home! 12/10 recommend this place
Loved it !!! Visiting from Sydney - was the first place we stopped at to grab a meal & coffee - Not disappointed at all. Rustic Heaven ! Meals were huge & delicious , great value for money ! Atmosphere was very relaxed & music was great !!! Will go back again before we leave !!
Been meaning to come here for ages, a beautiful way to spend my birthday. Great menu, handled the heat really well with strong ventilation, friendly staff and cool vibes. Thankyou for having us, delighted to have something like this in Adelaide.
I've been coming here for a very long time and it's been my coffee & breakfast home for some time, but the Mushroom Ragu I just had changed my life. I don't know what they do back there in that kitchen but it was magic.
Booked for mother's day. Such cool place. Drinks staff and food where amazing
Excellent, really good breakfast but worth a visit for any meal.
Great hipster atmosphere and friendly staff. Slightly pricey but an occassional lunch here is a great experience and I might come back for a few drinks in the future.
First cafe experience in Adelaide and it is top notch. Give melbourne cafes a run for their money. Great service//friendly staff//good food. Will be back. For the next 3 day mornings haha
What an amazing way to start the day before a work conference - this will keep me focused and fuelled for many fantastic speakers and presenters to come 👌😍😋
The staff were absolutely lovely, the venue was awesome and it just had a great vibe, well worth the visit!!
Pictured is the Choc Peanut Smoothie Bowl (banana, peanut butter, cocoa and house almond milk topped with house granola, seasonal fruit, peanuts and cacau nibs) and Skim Latte
Look no further, this is THE place for brekky in Adelaide. The menu has the staple cafe dishes with some more exciting items as well. The grounds have a rustic feel that transport you somewhere far from the city centre.
It was an unseasonably wet, cold and windy December lunchtime and we were seated outside at Peter Rabbit however, despite this, the heaters and rugs draped over the back of the chairs kept us toasty. I had the Big Bird sandwich and it was big, juicy and tasty. Good chips on the side. Small but local selection of beers on tap, small but considered wine list. Friendly staff. Make sure you check out the rabbit in its hutch.
Rocked up on a beautiful October day and sat outside in the courtyard, baking in the sun and enjoying the chill vibes of Peter Rabbit. While I could have easily sat there for hours with a couple of cold beers (they do serve alc.), on the agenda for my group was coffee and a late lunch, and the cute cafe delivered. Our table had a breakfast roll, a Rabbit bowl and a pannacotta. All was jam packed with good tastes, and wolfed down in a flash. The coffee was strong and quick to arrive. Tell me you're not tempted.
Finally got to stop in for a coffee here and omg it was amazing! Top notch! Service is ok, but this place is just oozing with cool vibes. Will be back to try food for sure. Just didn’t have enough time this visit and they were packed, as I imagine would be usual for lunch.
I'm quite new to these trendy, or "hipster-ish" places, if you will, and I have to say, I think I'm going to have to start frequenting this one in the future.
I'm sooo in love with this place's quaint, garden-y aesthetic, and the dishes offered all seem really unique and fairly-priced, especially considering the fact that I'd ordered a dish that included octopus - which can usually be quite expensive. I also love how the menu includes a little glossary of possibly-unfamiliar terms used in the descriptions of dishes; a small yet very-much-appreciated addition.
Mine and my friend's dishes both tasted great, and had very interesting flavours I'd never really thought of trying before. My octopus was cooked perfectly, and the grapes in the salad went surprisingly well with the lentils and herbs. My friend's chicken was delicious and soft, and the sauces on both the burger and included as a dip on the side tasted quite unique, yet really good. Staff were all more the chill, laidback types than the enthusiastic and ready-to-help, but I do happen to prefer the former and feel as though that kind of service suits the place, in a way.
I really did love this place a lot and definitely will come back, but I do feel as though the serving-method of the "Big Bird" dish, pictured in the second photo, was a little strange. I understand that this place has an image of being all different and unique but the sandwich was just plain inconvenient, and my friend ended up having to take it apart in order to eat it. My only other complaint is that the iced latte was quite small, and the method for adding sugar - which involved using a tablespoon to scoop it out of a jar, and a butter knife to mix it in as we hadn't been given teaspoons - was a bit awkward.
So in love with this place! Friendly staff, and a wonderful atmosphere no matter where you are seated. The soft ricotta doughnut balls were pretty damn good, and the hot chocolate was just a perfect add-on!
Such a cute place! Love the outdoor bonfire and aromas of winter camping! Service is friendly and food is tasty. The ramen broth was a tad too salty, but other than that, flavours were great. They also have the best chips - crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The only thumbs down is that the takeaway coffee sizes are small.
The atmosphere is great here if not a little bit loud. The food is nice although it is a little bit pricey for what it is. It would be a good place for a light lunch, especially when the weather is great.
What started out as a shipping container that sold sandwiches has definitely upgraded to a gorjus little garden cafe with fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The flavors are ridiculous (especially the ricotta donuts) with attention to detail and great coffee - best dirty Chai I've had in a while!! Only disappointment was didnt get to see any live rabbits hehe. Definitely a must try though! 👌
went here for lunch on the weekend. very nice place, food was great! I had the ricotta donuts which was perfect for lunch. A tad pricey, but with reason. Will be back
This cafe is so beautiful, I love all the plants around the place, the fact they have a pet rabbit is so cute. I had the coconut ice coffee special and it was delicious! We also shared the rabbit bowl and the ricotta doughnuts. I highly recommend the doughnuts, beautifully plated and lovely to eat.
Headed in on a Wednesday morning and sat outside in the garden/dining area. Place was bustling with office workers coming through for their 10am coffee fix, and I don't blame them one bit. This place is a good break from the concrete jungle/construction site that is currently Adelaide. The food was well presented and delicious. I'm not a sweets person by any account, but the ricotta donuts were ridiculously good. Can't wait to head back here soon.
Great atmosphere and seating options. We sat outside but would happily sit anywhere in this funky little place. Service was great, food was amazing! The best dirty chai I've ever had!! Will be coming back! 👌
So cute and cosy! Whether you're there for a drinking session or a meal, the attention to detail at Peter Rabbit really makes it feel like you're hanging out in a friend's backyard. I look forward to returning to try the food.
Fantastic coffee and great location for a mid day meal with friends. Not sure about the food yet, it tends to be a bit hit and miss. For example, I've a had a great burger and chips, as well as focaccia here in the past but most recently got the "soup of the day", which was a spring vegetable soup. It was well presented (as you can see in the photo below) and the bread served with it was good but the soup itself was essentially flavourless. Will definitely be giving a few other menu options a go despite this. If you're going for the rabbits alone probably don't bother though, they are in a cage out the back and hard to find.
On the west side of Hindley St lies Peter Rabbit café, an unexpected garden haven – with rustic wooden decor, rusty gates and fences, and foliage and greenery. It’s a cute sanctuary amongst the concrete of the city. I love the fresh, bright vibe created in this area of Hindley St especially with Levant Eatery and Nourished Blends right next door.
We sat in the large open front area, and chose from the funky breakfast and lunch options. I couldn’t resist the house-made waffles of course – combined with the not-overly sweet mascarpone and interesting pistachio and white chocolate crumble, tasted ah-mazing! My friends had the Breakfast Guacamole and Eggs your way and we were all very impressed by the generous servings. I like how the food here somewhat matches the garden-theme of the café. The coffee art here is also on point. Service was prompt and friendly.
P.s. no rabbits in sight though!
I once came here to had breakfast and as far as I can remember everything was excellent! I love the atmosphere
Of this place and I seriously love their food! They have a lot of options and I like the fact that they have seasonal menus which change throughout the year. I orders the french toast with the poached pears and it was to die for! Paired it with Their warm chocolate and it was such a wonderful breakfast! I can't wait to
Try their new "winter menu" soon!!
March 14, 2017 By She Said What in Food & Drink Tags: Adelaide, breakfast spot, food, Love, lunch, review Leave a comment. It’s a beautiful day, the sun’s shining and I’m looking out at an inconspicuous sanctuary in the centre of the city. I wonder… have I stumbled upon the best brunch location in Adelaide? BIG CALL, but it might just be.
I've been wanting to try this hip little place on Hindley for awhile with an amazing setting; how they managed all that front garden space in the middle of all this urban density is a mystery! It's a real oasis though. Great staff and yummy vego (and other) food. I had a sloppy-joe styled sambo of curried cauliflower & pea with salad on fresh baked sourdough which was yummy and great value, plus a fresh strawberry-mango soda, perfect on this 40 degree day. I'd love to come back on an evening as the atmosphere would be great I imagine.
Fabulous little hipster cafe with a beautiful garden dining area...perfect for a sunny day. The menu includes an all day brekky section as well as a lunch menu from 11, with lots of tasty dishes on offer. Our dishes came out quickly, perfect for a quick work lunch. I had the halloumi & roasted vegetable salad and it was divine! With a slight char on the roasted pumpkin, zucchini and eggplant, finished with a sprinkle of hazelnut dukkah and topped with a lovely minted yogurt... such a great combo!
What a cool spot. Absolutely love the garden and the relaxed vibe. Attentive service and delish coffee - YUM! Great addition to that side of Hindley Street.
Highly recommended.
A cute little place on HIndley Street at the West Terrace end. The friendly owners have created a garden feel with inside and outside areas. You can sit on the 'grass' or inside, and there are real rabbits in the enclosure. The outside are could do with umbrellas as it is very sunny and can be too hot to sit there which means that the inside are is crowded and there may not be enough space. The food is tasty and there are vegan options - plenty of choice in the salads - and the coffee is served fast and is good quality. Lots of competition in this part of Adelaide so great job of setting up something a little different.
Summary: parking may be hard to find depending on when you are there and parking inspectors are very diligent, food healthy, coffee good, service good. Worth a try? Yes - a different eating experience because of the setting.
Considering Hindley street has long held the reputation of being Adelaide's feral night-clubbing strip (with multiple uses for the word 'strip'), this cafe is just the injection of fun, clean and hipster vibes it needed. Such a fun cafe with great outdoor seating (blankets included for cold days), ample seating inside and the best bit- 2 resident pet rabbits to add even more cheer. Pop in for a great coffee and great food (Reuben sandwich, HELLO) and for great service.
I absolutely adore the look of this cafe. It has a lovely front yard and a quaint interior fitted with somewhat random, nature-themed decor. There's a small cabinet at the counter filled with baked treats. The morning I visited, it held some adorable looking carrot cake cupcakes that were topped with a cute little fondant carrot! I took away a long black ($3.80) that morning, but returned later that afternoon for food.
When I returned at lunch time, the cafe was jam packed! I took away a Halloumi & Roasted Vegetable ($18) + Smoked salmon ($5). The salad was topped with three huge slices of halloumi, so the additional smoked salmon was probably not needed. Lifting off the halloumi and smoked salmon revealed the most beautiful bed of roasted vegetables and mixed leaves. Perhaps because the halloumi had already cooled by the time I dug in, but it was a little rubbery and made little squeaky noises against my teeth when I chewed. It was very tasty, though. I liked how it wasn't very salty like how the cheese usually is. The smoked salmon wasn't anything spectacular - just your typical smoked salmon. The highlight was definitely the roasted vegetables and greens, which were as delicious as they looked. It was probably the best tasting combination of vegetables I have ever tasted.
Can't wait to return to try the other dishes!
It's very hard to fault this cute little hot spot!
Staff were friendly and customer service was efficient and great. We came with a group of 5 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. A friend and I shared the granola and avocado dish breakfast with added haloumi. Couldn't fault! Soo much avocado and the eggs were poached nice and runny! It's a shame it's only open mon-fri as I work full time :( will be going back for breakfast next chance I have!
mix and match menu. clever and quick. the baked salmon i had was however underseasoned and unfortunately did not go well with my strawberry salad (my bad! i chose the combination.). it's also very refreshing to have a tiny slice of greenery and quirkiness, while enjoying a quick lunch bite, in the midst of the infamous westside.
I like the eating experience here. The food is interesting and beautiful to look at (I'm not particularly fond of salads but even they are delicious), the staff are really friendly, they have beer plus Flopsy and Mopsy are cute as hell. I hear the coffee is awesome too.
Can't Be Bothered To Cook
+4
Great lunch spot .... love the couscous salad ... Need to steal the recipe - or maybe bargain for it with lots of carrots and lettuce for the cute onsite rabbits
Great venue for a light meal, a good drink and a few photo opportunities of some very cute bunnies!! Great weekday meeting place, highly recommend!
Fabulous coffee at this little gem of a cafe - complete with actual rabbits in a little hutch out the back. Committed to sustainability, the rabbits get fed kitchen scraps while the owners will trade a free coffee in exchange for fresh produce. Food is served on recyclable cardboard plates.
Only downside to my visit was the coffees were slow to be made.
Definitely be back.
Peter rabbit is exactly what the west end has been craving. You are welcomed by a manicured lawn where you find yourself sussing out a nice spot to sit before walking inside to a super funky cafe complete with two adorable rabbits hanging out inside their lovely "rabbit-mahal".
Food: amazing!! The coffee was great and the food fresh and light. We had a choice of chicken or salmon, and chose the chicken, which was so succulent. We could then chose a few of their freshly made salads which were equally as delish. They also had a selection of fresh pastries, rolls and cakes as well as a great selection of drinks.
Cool vibe where you can kick your thongs off and feel the lawn under your toes while enjoying ace food and coffee! We will be back!
I loved the fit out here. Gorgeous and open, lovely to be surrounded by some grass and full of greenery. Super friendly staff- we were well looked after. What a lovely location for a lazy summer day.
At 10.30 on a weekday this place had a few people about. I was a little surprised none of the breakfast options were freshly cooked but perhaps this is not what they're going for. Food was still fresh, though because it was cold I felt my hard boiled egg with avocado and tomato salsa lacked something. I would've tried one of the muesli/granola options but they had a rose water inclusion which I am not keen on, but that's personal taste.
Having said that, friend's brownie was gorgeously fudgey and that alone is a day saver.
The lunch menu looked super and I'd love to come back to try out some of the salads.
I had lunch at the newly opened Peter Rabbit yesterday with my girlfriend. From first impressions it's a gorgeous, simple, open-space cafe. The sun was shining and we ate out on the deck overlooking the freshly laid green grass and pot plants. It's definitely not something you'd expect to experience on Hindley street. Kudos to the boys for having a great vision and also for doing the fitout themselves, it looks fantastic.
As for the food, it's obviously early days so they're probably still finding their feet and from what I've read there's not heaps of culinary experience involved so we weren't expecting heaps. I had a piece of the chicken thigh with 3 salads -potato, quinoa and a coleslaw and my girlfriend had the avocado and egg open sandwich with couscous. The chicken was enjoyable but none of the salads really stood out or enticed me to return, although they were fresh. If salads are the main attraction (apart from the 2 bunny rabbits out back) I just think they need a little more of a punch. I also couldn't help but wish that they used bigger plates as the portions are almost rabbit sized (obviously an exaggeration, but a relevant one for this venue).
We finished off with coffees, which were unexpectedly nice, and a nutella croissant which was decadently delicious.

We really enjoyed this cafe that had it's own individual appeal. The staff were helpful from the minute we walked in to making sure we were happy with our choices and seating. It was pretty busy as I am sure it always is but we were still attended to in such good time.
The food was fresh and delicious and the option to have an alcoholic beverage was nice as well.
The decor is interesing and keeps you looking around which is also a nice addition.
One of the most famous cafe in Adelaide.
You should visit here just after the cafe opened, otherwise you have to wait for on a long queue.
The price is a bit expensive, but the taste of the coffee is good, and food looks beautiful.
Such a nice place to eat when it’s good weather. Very pretty with outside garden filled with plants. Food was delicious. The avocado toast was too die for. Staff were friendly, very helpful and caring.
Great brunch spot with unique décor. Coming from Melbourne we had expectations of a nice brunch spot and this place delivered. The French toast and Katsu sandwich were great. Coffee was solid too! Would definitely come back next time in Adelaide.
This place had such an amazing vibe!
I had the smoothie Bowl and it was by far the best I've had! The granola tasted amazing.
Staff were lovely!
I missed the bunnies tho! I hope they will be back soon!
Can't wait to go there again for another meal! 🧡💚
Love Peter Rabbit. Our go-to Cafe in the city.
Ambience is wonderful, I love the rustic garden shed kinda feel and their coffee and breakfast is spot on, every time. Bonus points for the service from the young guy always working front of house.. he's really obliging and lovely, with I knew his name!
Definitely worth a visit but best book in advance to save waiting the hour or so in busy mornings!
Brilliant little cafe with an amazing vibe. Tucked away in off the road is this beautifully unique little cafe serving by far the best coffee I had in my stay in Adelaide. On a cold morning inside was a treat with a coffee and some exceptional food.
Highly recommend a visit to this lovely establishment run by very lovely people!
It's been 2 years since I went to this cafe, but I'll always remember the looks and food. The food were delicious and I like how they decorated the place and cafe to look rustic. It's small, but homely.
