Review Moonsoon - Adelaide

Casey O'Callaghan
Delicious food at a reasonable price! We had the sizzling scallops, BBQ quail, lychee pannacotta and the "Green Envy" - all were served beautifully and tasted as good as they looked. Thank you!

What an excellent experience we had at Moonsoon. Every dish we had was delicious, the waitress recommend a few dish to us and they were spot on, the waitress even recommend a bottle of wine after we asked and it was fantastic... Thank you for a great night.

Beautifully appointed elegant restaurant that belies the very reasonable prices. Light, fresh, delicately spiced dishes. Loved the scallops and soft shell crab. Very attentive staff. Fabulous restaurant.

Have been here a few times now and each time has been an awesome experience. The food is utterly delicious and they back it up with attentive service which you rarely see these days. Couldn’t recommend more highly, thanks Moonsoon!

My new favorite. After trying a few Asian fusion restaurants lately including a high end option on Glen Osmond road that left us extremely disappointed after hearing raving reviews - Moonsoon provided one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Extremely affordable, outstanding service with fabulous recommendations, fresh, DELICIOUS and perfectly portioned high quality food with a lively atmosphere. The female owner was extremely attentive, relaxed and personable and was great with recommending options. We ordered the salt and pepper eggplant which was absolutely out of this world. I will order another salt and pepper dish next time for sure and the prawn betal leaf entrée that was extremely fresh and vibrant. Our mains were a tofu stir fry and the chicken lemongrass curry with bread – light, fresh, tasty and just perfect. I cannot wait to return to Moonsoon – highly recommend!

Wow - we love this restaurant! We have been several times, with both small and large groups. The staff have always been friendly and alert. The food was of high quality and always brought out to the table quickly. All this at a good price! We are very happy customers :)

It could’ve been better

Food 3.5/5
Price 3/5
Service 2/5
Atmosphere 3.5/5
Dishes variety 4/5

Located on the busy O’Connell street , the crowd here was relatively good on a Wednesday night. We took a seat in the farthest corner of the restaurant and had a browse through the menu. While we were deciding , they brought out the pink prawn crackers which tasted delicious and was unique in colour.

The menu had a variety of dishes and we decided on two entree, two mains and a rice to share - only two photos were taken as the presentation for the cold rolls and clay pot caramelised snapper fillets lack creativity. Together with the spring rolls and soft shell crab, my favourite would be the soft shell crab. It was crispy, full of flavours and paired nicely with the watermelons to give it that hint of freshness it needed. The wrapper used for the spring roll was thick and could do in the fryer for a few minutes longer to give it’s crispy texture.

Our impression of the place was good until it took many attempts to get the waitresses attention. There was a clear difference in the way regular customers were treated compared to new customers. It was such a let down and is probably the reason why we will not return.
Master Diner
Just a bit disappointed. Asked for a kids serve and was presented with a big plate of chicken and charged the full $17. Our meals were good. Quality of food was good. I just felt like we were being up sold the whole time and definitely stung hard on the kids meal.

Service was the best anywhere! Food was awesome, & prices reasonable. We live in Melbourne but frequently travel to Adelaide, always go back to Moonsoon. Staff are friendly, courteous & always remember us🤗

Lovely restaurant, great staff, nice decor. The service was very good.
We had entrees of vego spring rolls (3 x served with lettuce, parsley & mint to roll up & dip in the sauce) plus chicken satay (x 3). Both delish!
Then for him the special sticky crispy beef, for her the pad thai and for me roast duck red curry with steamed rice. The only disappointment was the duck meat was tough.
For afters we shared the banana spring rolls with ice cream and they went down a treat. I was *very* tempted by the chocolate fondant but the 30 minute wait put paid to that option.

Absolutely fantastic and friendly service for the entire night, not to mention delicious food and a great wine selection! Definitely will be going back again soon for a fantastic dinner!!

This was the second time my partner and I came here for dinner.

Arrived without a booking and the friendly staff girls were more than happy to make a single table for us.

I usually eat seafood dishes and the soft Shell crab and lobster Choo Chee were definitely a standout for me.

My partner enjoys the chicken and beef dishes alot aswell.

Fair priced and very nice dining setting in restaurant.
Would definitely recommend.

I have to say that I was genuinely impressed with my dining experience here. I've driven past this establishment multiple times without giving it a second look however thanks to a Groupon deal, we were exposed to a little gem!

Moonsoon is fine dining with the fraction of the cost. The service is superb, the food is nice, reasonable portions and it did not take long for food to come out. We loved the green tea creme brulee and the lychee panna cotta - what a surprising and clever Asian twist.

We will be returning to try the other delicious food options. Highly recommended.

The food was good. Totally recommend the soft shell crab. However, I would not recommend the place. The owner of the restaurant is extremely rude. We waited for nearly an hour for our food (there were barely any other customers). When we approached her about it, we were accused of being rude & impolite! Despite being "apologetic" she asked us if we wanted to cancel the order & leave!

Highly recommend! Entrees were incredible, chicken satay and Vietnamese chicken wingettes are a must. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They also catered the meal to me when I requested no chilli and no coriander. Nice modern spin on traditional Asian flavours

Purchased a voucher online for a Vietnamese Steam Boat (with a glass of wine) and really enjoyed it. probably the best steam boat I've had in adelaide, and the wine they served was lovely as well. Service was excellent, and I will definitely return to explore the rest of the menu.

Vegetarian and loving it!
A great selection of non-meat dishes. The salt and pepper eggplant was fabulous as was the red curry tofu and the basil and chilli tofu. Everything was so delicious that we had dessert as well. The green tea creme brulee was super-creamy and super-yummy. Fast and friendly service to boot. Ticked all the boxes including price.

We went on a voucher for 4 to try the vietnamese steamboat, which was really nice. Service was attentive and friendly. Our children had a good time too. We recommend.

After being politely greeted by one the waiters while perusing their menu, we decided to finally try Moonsoon.
Thoroughly enjoyable dinner from the extremely polite, attentive staff to the beautiful music setting such a lovely mood.
Extensive menu, with many specials. We decided on the steam boat special for 2 plus oysters as an extra entree and Char Kway Teow (which came home with us). Oysters and chicken satay were delicious. Tom Yum Steam Boat and Kway Teow were some of the best we've ever had.
Such a lovely dining experience and would highly recommend.

Modern Asian fusion with a fine dining feel. Incredibly impressed with the menu and presentation of all dishes. Had a tasting plate with cold rolls and san choy bau, soft shell crab (best one I've ever had) and red duck curry (all dishes pictured). The staff were very attentive and the quality, freshness, and flavour of all dishes impeccable. One tip, I love spicy food but if you prefer more mild flavours, let the staff know when ordering as the dishes may surprise you with the default level of spice.

We have walked past Moonsoon at 143 O'Connell St, North Adelaide many times but never thought about dining here. It wasn't until we saw one of those dining vouchers being advertised online that we actually made the effort. If only we made the effort earlier as we were pleasantly surprised...........

Slow. Slow. Slow.. Still here an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering and no sign of our food.

Wonderful dining experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was so great I went back the following week. The scallops were amazing! Plump and juicy and tender. I also recommend the salt and pepper crocodile! This is definitley my "go to place". The prices are very reasonable especially given that quality of the food.
I highly recommend Moonsoon.

Closed. Turn up for dinner at 6.30. Doors are closed. No signage indicating opening hours at all.

A Match In Heaven, Superb Customer Service, Classy Ambience & Deco and of course Flavoursome Food. Teresa went well above and beyond in looking after us even before we even step in the restaurant, and she still took us in on a busy night even when we were 45 minutes late for our booking!

The service continued with attention to detail with the other staff, did not even have to wait long for our orders to arrive even though it was a busy night and it was a fine dining Viet/Thai theme fusion restaurant, so well done for the kitchen staff. Waiter and waitress always had a smile for everyone.

Deco was classy and impressive, with black and gold urbanise themed wallpaper coupled with hanging modern metallic chandeliers surrounding us, felt like we were in Melbourne!

Then the food came, Loved the Sizzling Scallop with Garlic Sauce & the Red Thai Base Sauce.

Overall we had a good time and definitely will be back for seconds :-)

很糟糕的一次晚餐. 味道还好,量很少。感觉被服务员当成白痴一样,印象很深刻的一次晚餐

Great ambiance, food and service.. I had the great fortune to dine there on a GRoupon.
It was so good we will be back this week paying full price.
We arrived to a warm welcome, and directed to our table near the front window. The decor was classy and relaxing.
The waitress was informative, friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Starter was a share plate of sugar cane prawns and spring rolls...but better we were shown how to roll and wrap in rice paper. What a treat.
We were entitled to a bottle of house red or white wine.(LIndermans CHardonnay) not that great!
We were then able to choose a main course each. I went for my absolute favourite"Soft shell crab" and here I was in heaven.
My other had the sizzling scallops , he was asked to sit back as they were poured onto the sizzling iron plate(so he was not splattered) His report excellent.
We also ordered a shredded chicken asian salad, fresh and yummy.
We then opted to go for dessert anticipating more great food
He has the mango pudding and I the black sesame macaroon with black sesame seed ice cream. Yes we were right truly a delight. Finally a decent coffee in an Asian restaurant.
Wh
At fun and how good. I have recommended this restaurant to all my friends at work and those reading this revie.

Tasty Food, Fancy Desserts, Service with a Smile.. I've eaten at Moonsoon twice. Both times it took awhile for the food to come out, but when it did, it was excellent quality, presentation and taste. The desserts were fantastic. I especially love their green tea - so flavoursome. The seats are comfortable and the table has a cloth on it which I like. The best part though was definitely the food, price and friendly service.

Great food and great service.... Not long on the O'Connell food strip, but certainly making an impact, with great flavours and service (Linh) they just go that extra bit to make your dinning experience that much better, they have my recommendation for a great dinning expirience

Dinner at Moonsoon 21/05/2014. Met with friends at 7.30 and were greeted by friendly and cheerful waiting staff at Moonsoon. Elegant atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food, good wine, what more could you want. I started off with a decent serve of Salt & Pepper Squid for entree and was surprised that they were really salt and pepper, not this half watered down stuff that you can hardly taste any spices. For mains, I settled for a sizzling steak which was excellent. Friends had a variety of other items from the menu and all raved about their serves. Definitely recommend heading to Moonsoon's. Cheers, Mark

Great food, great service, lovely decor.. Went here tonight and was really pleased with the quality of the food. We had the Red Duck Curry, Thai Cashew Beef, Sugar Cane Prawns, Fish Cakes and Sesame Macaron. All dishes where absolutely delicious and we really couldn't fault them. The service was really lovely, very friendly wait staff who genuinely wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and our meal.

We will definitely eat here again as it is now added to my list of favourite restaurants in Adelaide.

After a bit of research, I discovered they were “Moonsoon”, a fusion restaurant that combines both Vietnamese and Thai cuisines. The menu is predominantly Vietnamese with a handful of Thai offerings.

It was very funny, I have known Moonsoon as an Indian restaurant. Sure enough I punched in Moonsoon restaurant, an Asian and an Indian restaurant came up on the google search engine. However, I looked closely and they differed by one letter, one is on O'Connell Street and the other on Melbourne Street.
