Review La Boca Bar And Grill - Adelaide

Aaron Ong (Pongy)
The meat was delicious. My wife loved the squid. And the sauce was great with the meats. The beef steaks, lamb and crunchy pork belly were my favs. Will probably go alacarte next time and pick my favourite meats now that I've tried them all. All the meat was tender.

Delicious steak and awesome service! After reading some of the average reviews, we were not sure to expect but could not be more impressed. Our daughters 'kids meal' came out super fast and our steaks were cooked exactly how we asked. The only little thing we would suggest is maybe an option of potato or chips on the side. Great atmosphere and all staff we had contact with were super friendly and made us feel like valued customers!

Love loved this place! Had a fabulous shared meat platter with my partner, we both love to eat so we were sceptical about the share platters but was not disappointed!! We ordered the 'butchers selection' for $99 which come with an attractive amount of different meats all cooked beautifully. We also ordered a side of rosemary potato chips and an entree of 'wood grilled squid' and by all means was the best squid I've ever had. Recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a good Argentinean restaurant. 10/10

Wow. It’s been a long time I’ve had a steak that good. Well more like hunk of meat but it was delicious, well seasoned, juicy and cooked perfectly. Friendly attentive staffed. Large place so no trouble fitting me in and open Easter Monday. I’ve I was a local I’d become a regular.

Unfortunately this place was well below standard for a bar and grill sadly. It wasn’t outlined online when booking that the all you can eat menu is the only option during the week with no vegetarian options which made it impossible for my partner to eat. The Asian lady continued to be rude to us as if we knew what we were coming to and not accommodating. The wagyu steak was luke warm and unfortunately very chewy but the lady serving being rude didn’t want to say anything to cause more issues. Not the best experience we’ve had dinning and there are a lot better places to dine for half the price.

💛 churros 🍗 peri peri chicken wings 🐟 grilled barramundi 🍖 asado grilled meat 🍫 chocolate cake 🍨 ice cream 🐽 pork sausage 🐙 grilled calamari 🧀 ham & cheese empanada 🍟 shoestring fries 🐑 lamb sausage 🏠: @labocaadelaide 📍: North Terrace, Adelaide 📝: Up for an Argentinian feast? Don’t look past La Boca Adelaide. Treat yourself with an endless line up of asado meats you can indulge yourself in. ❤️: I ordered and devoured my desserts first thing we sat down 🤣. Loved the chocolate ice cream that was strong and not too sweet. For the meats, I absolutely loved the lamb that was so tender and flavorful. The empanadas were also delicious—make sure you have it when it’s still hot and cheesy too!

The food was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. Pleasant ambience. It's a little bit pricey but nice.

Friendly. Explained how the all you can eat works. First night back since Christmas closure. Meat cooked beautifully . Lots of it. Desert was tasty. All up good environment, tasty food. Good for a group or a couple.

The service was fantastic, the food was amazing . The beer was cold .The burgers are the best I have had and the calamari melted in you’re mouth . I’ll be back 👍👍

Love the place and the staff is friendly and very welcoming and the food here is great

Worse service ever, not once but thrice. Still go there becos I love the food but always disappointed with the inconsistency of the serving and sometimes a big plate sometimes a small plate, and most of the time I went they they made me waited an hour for food.

What's wonderful place to dine service is awesome food was incredible
Sandy Johnson
A little bit of green salad with the lunch deal would’ve made it sensational
Andrew Robins
The food and service was fine (a Sunday night) but not a lot of choice for the mains and the steaks are just too big. Really need some more options around the 300-350 gm size. However the waiter did offer "doggy bags" after our meal before we even asked.
Karen Klingner
The steak I had was cooked to perfection, service was great and a wonderful atmosphere.

Not good when the staff stuff up your booking on valentines day and don't take responsibility. Then the rude manager says too bad that's how it is. Doesn't matter if your foods any good. Staff is the backbone of your business and keeps people coming back and I will never be back to be spoken to like hat again. Not happy and my Valentines day is ruined thanks to this business. Not happy at all with the way we were treated?

I loved Swish back in the day and Viva recently too but my friends and i are so disapointed the club has closed! The music was always good and drinks were cheap - something I find Adelaide lacks in. I thought it was always really popular?!? Why did Viva close? Is there any chance it will re open?
Sophia Reinhardt
Worst club I've ever been to! The DJ was so rude all because he thought I was going to touch his shitty decks! He swore at me continuously and told me to leave when I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have the authority to do! I suggest you hire a new one and fire him! Even the bouncers said he's a wanker.. haha
Romina Clarke
My friend and I had a great time! Love the music, no entrance fee and the staff were great!
Liana Fiorili
Amazing food! Loved it!

Good food.. very tasty..

Was fun, but needs more 90s classics and less reds remix's... swish fans hate reds. Promise us some spice girls, s club, backstreet boys and venga boys and we'll be back!

Food taste awesome! service is good but little things could be better
Jennifer Issa
Good service, meat was actually tasty and entrees were good, however the sides of salad and vegetables need a little more, vegetables was just capsicum and corn, salad was too cold to eat. Meat platter for two which is $90 is definitely not enough for two.
Good Food Good Mood
We visited La Boca for dinner tonight and had a really delicious meal. I opted for the boneless scotch which they do medium rare although the accompanying chimichurri nearly set me on fire. We ordered a selection of sides for the table and the truffle fries were absolutely delicious. I also loved the tomatoe and boccancini salad, kind of a random one for an Argentinian grill restaurant but delectable all the same

Popped in for La Boca's express lunch. Choose your meat, choose your side, choose your sauce. We opted for the skirt steak and pork belly. Both were incredibly tender and full of flavour. It was speedy service - we were in and out in 40mins.

I have just been to La Boca Grill in the CBD, we had good experiences before, hence, told my friends to come over for my farewell, they seemed to have had issues in the kitchen probably it is because is Tuesday, however, if you are not ready, just don’t open the doors that day.

- The best of the menu was sold out

- Ontrade came after mains!

- No fried chips were served until we finished our meats

- Gnocci came dry and cold

- Lasagna was bad and cold

Bad luck or not, it was not a pleasant experience.

The staff on the ground was very polite, perhaps extremelly polite it felt I was at “windy point” in some moments. Serbian guy very professional, we understood it was not his mistake even if he didn’t even complained about who was responsible.

They didn’t charge for their mistakes and gave us free wine and 2 free ice creams however that doesn’t solve the main issue.

We had a group of 14 people attend the La Boca Bar and Grill Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide SA restaurant at 7pm on 28 May 2019. Our overall experience was very poor. The waiter was inattentive, we had to flag him down a few times with our arms and even with a menu. I even had to walk over to the bar with an empty jug of cola in order to get a second one. 6 guests had issues with their food. 2 had cold food brought to them, 1 asked for medium sirloin steak and instead got an almost well done steak, 2 guests did not receive the order of chips until they made repeated questions asking about them (the chips finally arrived well after their main meals were finished) and 1 guest never got her food until she approached the reception desk and when it did arrive it was of poor quality. The overall service from the waiter and kitchen staff was quite poor and disappointing. Your location lost 14 repeat customers.

The Food was very well presented and cooked to the temperature which was what I needed and the done ness was nice. The service was impeccable - our server Dolton was polite and hospitable and had great knowledge of not only food - but beverage in general . Thank you for the great experience.

A lovely experience had by all of us who visited this place. Plenty of seating options (high tables, booths etc), awesome atmosphere (can watch the chefs preparing the meat) and all using fresh ingredients and simple combinations. There’s also a couple of options for those like myself that don’t like red meat, although the menu is all for the meat lovers! I went with a handful of avid meat eaters and they absolutely loved their choices (asado, rib eye, steaks). The service can be tad disorganized but otherwise would highly recommend!
Hell's Kitchen
Ordered the signature fire grill for two which is a mix of meat from different dishes on the menu. Food was very average, cocktails were pretty good.
30 mins before the restaurant shuts one of the waitresses asks me to leave my table of two people and follow her to the counter to pay the bill because they were closing soon. I then asked her to bring the eftpos machine which she did, awkwardly again she opened the bill to explain the surcharges in front of my guest. The second waitress was very dry and inexperienced answering "its a cocktail" to whats in the "Moscow mule", that very same waitress asked me 40 mins before the place shut that they were closing soon and whether i wanted a doggy bag
Wouldn't got there again

Very delicious food! For an entree we shared the meat and cheese platter and bread with tomato pesto. Delicious everything was perfect. Loved the cheeses, meats olives and the bread was great. For main I had a 250g steak with the corn cob. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. I loved the sauce that came with it. The corn cob was juicy and nicely charred. The chilli aioli was great. Overall everything was cooked perfectly and everything was bursti with flavour. The only let down for me was that it was too cold inside

We dropped in for Express lunch and ended up having the most succulent pork ever. Crispy on the edge and super soft inside. All their meats are well cooked and well seasoned. They have a reasonable deal for lunch and their cocktails are super amazing. The ambience is vibrant and lively. The staff is courteous and they take good care of you!

I was surprised how busy it was on a 41 degree Adelaide day. We booked through a 50% dimmi voucher. We were first put on a table that backed onto the fire pit, which was too hot and they easily moved us on request. The warm bread was awesome. Soft on the outside and a perfect crust. It was served with a chinichurri sauce which was too spicy for me, but had lovely flavours. The root salad was delicious, but had a touch too much dressing. We ordered the pork ribs and asador (wood fired) lamb. Both dishes for $40 were tiny. They were so overpriced it hurt my soul. There is no presentation to the food either, just meat on a plate, with a small bowl of drippings. Not a sauce, just the fats and juices on the animal. My lamb was awful. It was over cooked and tough and had chunks of fat that was seemingly trying to be hidden by a garnish. Slow cooked meat should be tender and fall of the bone, it was tough, just tasted like a roast lamb I do at home, but less juicy. I got no tastes of the fire pit either. On the way in you see meat cooking in a water bath, is this what I was served? There is also the grill, but my meal definitely wasn’t grilled, it had no grill marks, or grill taste. It tastes worst than a pub roast which you can get for $12, and sometimes there is a free salad bar. I suggest you go to a pub rather than spend $40 on this. The burger is also $29!! Insane prices. The lamb was taken off our bill, as I did not eat it, and I can count on one hand how many times I have not eaten all of my meal. The bill they gave us was also wrong. They did not give us the 50% discount. On questioning, they said it can only be given at the till on the way out? They made me go through my email to find their booking code. What if I did not bring my phone that night, what if I don’t have email on my phone like my dad, would they not honour the discount? And then they charge you a credit card surcharge. The only place in Adelaide I have come across this with visa. Overall I will not go back, and nor should you

La Boca, what a funky atmosphere. The comics on the tables were great entertainment whilst waiting for our dishes. Steak was cooked beautifully and the traditional Argentinian bread was light and fluffy. You'll leave this place doing the tango.

DISAPPOINTED
Its expensive so I assumed the dining experience would be good.
The service was poor. Someone else's food was brought to our table. I saw the same server later bring out a meal and stand in the middle of the room looking mystified, then take it back to the kitchen.
We sat for a while with open menus on the table in front of us, waiting for someone to take our order.
We had to ask for condiments three times. Our entree of empanadas was brought out with the main course.
My sister had the burger (served with chips) & enjoyed it but couldn't finish it as it had two meat patties. It was so tall that it needed to be eaten with a knife & fork.
My partner & I had the 450 rib eye to share and ordered it medium but beside the bone it was raw. To be fair, we got a $20 reduction when we complained while paying the bill, after showing the waitress earlier. I was dismayed at how much fat & gristle the meat had.
The sides were good: roast potatoes & a root salad.
Be aware that there is a surcharge for paying with a credit card & a 15% surcharge for public holidays.
I have no desire to return.

La Boca definitely stands out in terms of customer service. I do give props to the gentleman who swiftly changed my drink (because I didn't know it had bourbon in it) at no cost. You can tell that staff here do their best to cater to their customers' needs.

We ordered the Oysters to start off with and the Parrillada platter (for two). The oysters were small however the assorted traditional toppings complimented them well. The platter is notably pricey and I was expecting bigger portion sizes. I suppose it it should be no surprise as we were dining in an Argentinian restaurant. They have a great selection of cocktails and I particularly enjoyed their espresso martini.

The vibe exudes casual fine dining and the customer service reflects that but not so much the decor and relatively loud music. With that it attracted groups of people who just wanted to wind down and drink with friends.
Amant De La Nourriture
Drinks (cocktails) lovely and refreshing. Food was delicious, staff friendly and welcoming. Interior was interesting. Enjoyed our visit here, will probably visit again next time we visit Adelaide.

Has been a while since this one, from what i remember great food, great cocktails, great ambience

Definitely one to try, except for when your partner knocks a full cocktail over somebody else haha.

Overall we had a fantastic night at La Boca. After spending the afternoon at the football La Boca definitely didn't disappoint. The serving sizes were generous and the meat cooked perfectly. The waiting staff were warm and attentive and certainly added to the experience. Prices were on the higher side but I don't mind paying a little extra when the food and service are as good as they are at La Boca. The only downside was the wine list that could easily be improved. Will definitely be returning

Booked early for 7ish table. Arrived on time, nice table, great waiter & wine.
Firepit specialty courses not available, sold out!!
That's what we came for and were expecting when shown the set up earlier in the day !
Other meals available ok but disappointing and won't be going back
AR Perth

Our mid-week dinner was wonderful! We had the festival of food which allowed us a small taste of some entree dishes which was nice. A couple of people on the table don't eat pork so required a modification to the usual dishes they send out for tasting. Unfortunately, the modified dishes were nicer than the standard dishes. The chicken main was one of the best chicken dishes I have had in a long time, it was cooked to perfection and the flavours on the plate were great. The barramundi was amazing! Great to see so much time and care in the plating of the dishes. Overall a great experience.

We have been here twice in two months to celebrate birthdays!

Great food, great service, great price - have recommended to family and friends!

We were pretty disappointed. The decor was lovely, and sitting right near the grill gave us high hopes, but the food was below average, not to mention the $20 cocktail which tasted nothing like the menu suggested.

We ordered the empanadas and mushroom croquettes for entrée; which were both nice. About 40 minutes later the main came out to us. We could see the sides sitting at the bench for at least 10 minutes, so they were almost cold by the time we received them.

We ordered a meat platter for two. There was supposed to be sausage and chorizo; we received two different regular processed sausages... certainly not chorizo. The suckling pig was regular pork belly, no crackling. The lamb was dry and rubbery, tasted more like mutton. The saving grace was the chicken and skirt steak, but dear god, everything was SO SALTY.

I don't mind paying $200 for dinner when the food and service is good, but we can make grilled meat at home better than this.

Certainly won't be revisiting.
Jenny Wilkins
Incredibly large serving sizes. We got 3 entrees and a 2 person main meal for 4 people and we just couldn't finish everything.

We absolutely enjoyed the entrees of bread and dips, char grilled squid (although it wasn't that char grilled) and the crispy mushrooms.

We got the mixed platter for two. Be warned the cuts of meat were chewy but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

I do intend to return again.

The food was great but that's about it. The reception lady took us to our table when we arrived and we were given the dinner menu. 15 mins later still no waiter to take our order or offer any assistant. After a few effort, we finally managed to get the waiter to come to our table, asked for the drink menu, ordered our drinks, entree, main course and side dish. 30 mins later, no entree (entree was bread and dips). Then our main course arrived, still no entree. Apparently ribs cook faster than bread and dips? Anyway we were too hungry so started eating our main course. 10 mins later, our side dish arrived (which was chips by the way - so more than 40 mins for chips?). Another 10 mins went by, our entree arrived. Isn't entree supposed to arrive before main course? That is the whole purpose of entree. The food was amazing I have to say but service was a huge dissappointment. Apparently after sharing this dining experience to my colleague, she also said that she was let down by their service too. Well, I'm not going back for sure.

This place doesn't want anymore customers after 8pm - we turned up at 7:50pm after flying in and were told to sit at the bar for 15mins whilst a table was prepared- there were several empty, not sure why we had to wait. Service was chaotic, tables not cleared, the only thing that kept us here was tiredness and laziness! Not worth the effort
Adric Sommer
Great food and atmosphere, although very pricey....
But when your told by a waiter he can organise to split your bill (between 3 couples) and you get to the payment desk only to be met by a cranky, stern waitress refusing to split the bill, talking about policy and telling us he was wrong. Get your shit together guys. Will not be back.. will not recommend..!

This place made my year and it's the first week of Jan! The staff are amazing, the food is amazing, the drinks are amazing! The live band set a great mood and the atmosphere is awesome!

8 hour lamb should not be rare, tight or fatty 😫.

The venue is very spacious with an extravagant open kitchen, several long communal tables and large booths all in a rich dark wood giving it a sophisticated, cool and moody atmosphere. Launching La Boca Up Late they have live entertainment and a variety of Argentinean drinks and finger food on the menu up until the early hours of the morning.
William Harradine
The food, atmosphere and service were sensational. The 4 course tasting menu was superb and the pork crackling was yummy. The DJ was great and the live music was also top stuff. We will be going back.

Ate 2 years ago and loved the food but this time around, after unfortunately promising friends a great meal, we left disappointed, especially with the service (which has never been that great). I had a booking for 4 people but there was apparently no table available when we arrived so we got placed at the back and around the corner near the toilets, out of complete view of the entire restaurant, despite walking past about 10 empty tables in the main dining area. Drinks took half an hour to arrive. Mains took another 40 min on top of that, then they got them mixed up with another table. Each of our 4 meals came out one at a time with at least 20 minutes in between each one. And a bit of grilled meat on a plate with nothing else was not worth the wait. So definitely do not recommend if you have a special occasion like we did.

The Sunday buffet is a must. Don’t be turned off but the moderate selection, the food here isn’t about quantity but it’s all about quality. The meat is cooked perfectly in the traditional manner over hot coals and the vegetables, which I normally ignore at a buffet, are sensational. It’s not easy but make sure you leave room for dessert, the selection is beautifully displayed out and cut into bite sized pieces so you can try everything. The waiting staff are also excellent, very polite and attentive and the place it nicely decorated. Le Boca is great value for money and place I regularly return to.
Renee Chan
This place blew me away. Certainly the service left a lot to be desired but the food made up for it. The meat was melt in your mouth delicious, and we couldn't get enough of that chimmichuri.
Kael Da Costa
My colleague and I shared the platter for two. Firstly the good - the quality of the food was fine. The meats were succulent and, with the exception of the chorizo, pretty flavourful. The alleged chorizo could have been more accurately described on the menu as a sausage. There was little about it apart from it's shape that reflected any chorizo characteristics. Now to the bad - the platter cost $84 and was laughably small for the price. If we hadn't ordered a bean salad we would have ended up quite hungry. Finally the ugly - the service was indifferent and hardly accommodating or particularly welcoming.
So to summarise, food was ok but there are venues in the city that are more deserving of your money.

Two mad carnivore came here to have a big meals. Started with chorizo and green salad as entree. Lurrve the chorizo, it was beautiful. For main course I had pork belly asado, it was moist, melted in my mouth. I wish the skin more crispy. My husband had rib eye in the bone, not really special actually but still ok anyway. And for desert I had warm pineaple tart..i wish the portion bit more generous cause it's really good. Overall we were happy dine in at la boca and definitely would come back again.

First time visiting La Boca and I loved it!! I ordered the 300g sirloin steak and it came with corn on cob (delicious flavouring) and side of chips marinated in chimichurri (is that how it's spelt??) seasoning. They also bring out a bottle of chimichurri sauce to accompany your steak. Definitely will be returning :)

A comedy of errors is how I would describe my recent visit to La Boca. I have been before and the service has always been pretty average but this time it really dropped the ball. After we were seated it took at least 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and take our drinks order. I kept trying to flag someone down without luck. Before we could get our drinks we had to move tables because of a computer glitch that didn't recognize our table and we wouldn't get our drinks or food sitting there-supposedly. Our drinks come out and we got the wrong beers, couldn't be bothered trying to rectify it as it would have taken another 15 to get the right ones. Then comes the food, one dish right and one wrong..if u order ribs make sure you specify which ones (which I did). So a bit more waiting and we got our food. The food was good, the winner is the sauce they have on the table. While we had our food our waitress never checked on us. Finally we flagged someone down to get our bill as our waitress was no where to be seen. Also if you are hard of hearing this is not the place to go especially when they have a dj playing during dinner service, very loud. I think that is the last time I will head to La Boca.

Food was ok.. Service inattentive.. This restaurant was nothing special and for the price paid, it was disappointing. nothing was outstandingly terrible, but nothing was particularly good either.
Chris.winfieldblum
My kind of place, where meat is the hero and salad is an afterthought! Great environment and I love the smell of the fire as you walk in. The best meat in Adelaide by far :D
Colin
Our visit didn't start well. We had an early reservation 6pm so we got our drinks and ordered quickly. The music was a bit loud but we were seated on the old dance floor. Then we got our starters! As pictured in one of our dips I found a rubber band. Yes a rubber band. I spooned it onto the bread and put it into my mouth. It wasn't nice! I told our waiter and she let someone know. We had another lady come up to us to apologise. They didn't charge us for the dips and offered us free desserts. We were full so we didn't have them. Like other reviews it's overpriced. The beef was tuff and chewy. The pork my wife got had a lot of fat. Save you money and look elsewhere.
On The Chopping Board
Adjacent to the Stamford Hotel, La Boca Bar and Grill has been around for a couple of years now and thanks to their success, have expanded to Sydney and possibly Melbourne in the near future. They clearly pride themselves on providing customers with a genuine Argentinian night out – the head chef, the Asador style of cooking (over charcoal) and the grill itself all hail from Argentina. On The Chopping Board (OTCB) were invited by The Stamford Hotel to an ‘Argentinian Experience’ hosted by the Head Chef at La Boca Bar and Grill – Nicolas Arriola. All food and beverages were provided on behalf of La Boca Bar and Grill.

Half the menu was unavailable. The "Pièce de résistance" meal a the venue, a so called 450g RibEye was 300g of Fat and hardly any meat. Overpriced at $48 Plus Visa credit card Surcharge for that rubbish. Others had Ribs that had petrified into Wood from Drying in the Slow Cook, Do not bother as it will ruin your evening.

Hola! I got invited to greet the meat at La Boca Bar and Grill and check out this restaurant in Stamford Plaza. They had me at meat cooked on an open charcoal fire but more on that later. The evening kicked off somewhere swish and fancy instead, some place that costs $1500 a night!. Enjoying a cocktail in the presidential suite

Very Average, Went here on New Years Day 2016 for Dinner, was not that busy. When we finally got a waiter to take our order, We ordered the Meat Pastry and Corn Cake for Starters, Ribs and Rib Eye for Mains. The Steak was ordered Medium. Waited and Waited for the Starters, when they finally arrived, they were pretty well thrown on the table, on a single piece of wood with no explanation of what was in front of us. We knew what the pastry was, but had no idea what the mushy thing in the (I'm guessing Palm Leaf) was. Waited and Waited again for the Mains, only to get Cold and Black Ribs and Steak, one cut from the knife showed very pink (and raw as my teeth were not sharp enough to be able to chew threw the meat) on the ribs and the Steak spewed a lot of blood all over the plate. I do not mind meat that is pink that is why I ordered Medium, my wife and I do not want blood. When we asked for the bill it took forever coming, we mentioned the problems with the mains only to be told that: "I asked you if everything was alright" which I replied: "you never asked us anything about the mains only the starters and you should have had someone tell us how to eat the Palm Leaf Corn thing" Which we just received a stupid blank stare. We told him to get the manager, after we got sick of him arguing with us, the manager didn't come over, the waiter just came back with a bill that had the $48.00 Ribeye Steak removed. I paid the bill and left there disappointed in the whole experience of LaBoca I would recommend going to Sosta. instead. Their steaks are cooked to perfection and the service is great. I wont be back here!!

Not sure if.. La Boca Bar and Grill or Hog's Breath Cafe?

Our meal was nothing like we expected it to be; it lacked flavour that even the chimichurri sauce couldn't save! Have eaten countless Argentinian meals and this did not even compare to them!
The meat was over cooked and not as we requested (rare), was extremely fatty and just plain flavourless!

Although our waiter was extremely friendly, the service was poor as no one ever came around to see how our meal was going. Furthermore, when we went to pay for our meals after commenting how unpleased we were about the meals, the waiter offered a complimentary drink as well as dessert which we declined. The waiter then notified the manager who then slyly overlooked at the table we had eaten at and insisted that we still had to pay the full bill, which our waiter seemed embarrassed about, and at no point did the manager apologise to us after.

I would definitely NOT be recommending this establishment to ANYONE after this experience as I seem to think it was quite unprofessional by the service and management!!
Alphonso
I dont know what went wrong in here but the meat looked like it was just hacked off the animal - no butchery. The meat did'nt taste nice either - just very bland.
John
La Boca Bar and Grill - I normally like myself a good, hearty and juicy Argentinian meal but La Boca just does NOT cut it. Overly greasy, too salty and overcooked - it's a wonder how this establishment manages to cope. Probably because of the $15 dollar lunch menu and the overpriced wine list they have. A good red which I can procure for nearly half their selling price at another decent restaurant? I'd hit the ground running.

La Boca is a barrio, or neighbourhood, in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. Here in Adelaide we are lucky enough to have our own little piece of Argentina at La Boca Bar and Grill on North Terrace. La Boca Bar and Grill is an authentic Argentinian grill house that specialises in barbequing meat over an Asador grill, or fire pit. The Asador cooking style utilises an Argentinian handcrafted grill along with Australian red gum and Argentinian charcoal which deliver the smoky grill flavours to the slow-cooked Asador meats. Speaking of meat, La Boca sources local 100% grass-fed meat from the Coonawarra region. Whilst I have had the pleasure of dining at La Boca Bar and Grill previously and enjoyed the succulent Asador meats for dinner, I haven’t had the chance to try more of their extensive menu. Luckily for me, Adelaide Food Central was invited to sample La Boca’s newly updated menu, which includes the likes of picadas and cocktails. A picada in Argentina is traditionally a selection of finger foods artfully arranged for everyone to share served in the lead up to a main meal. All food and drinks were provided free of charge.

This Argentinian style BBQ grill restaurant was highly recommended by my hotel next door. In Adelaide for work, walking 30m from the front of my hotel to La Boca made for an easy dinner decision. I certainly should have googled the menu before being seated, as my stomach did a little flip on seeing the prices... By this stage, I had already been taken in by the aroma wafting from the open bbq pit. Entree was the best empanadas I have ever had, and the bbq lamb main was way better than I had expected. Wallet was a lot lighter upon leaving, but I am glad to have had the experience.

We only dropped in for a cool drink, noticed the meat slow cooking over the fire & decided to come back for dinner. The staff were super friendly & the food was sensational.

Excellent food and service at surprising cheap prices.
We've been here 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed the experience.

Will definitely be back!

If ur in the mood for slow cooked Argentinian meat then La Boca is it. It boasts the charcoal fire pit and has an Argentinian theme which I like alot. Our waiter was pretty friendly and attentive and suggested good wine. It was great value for money especially the choice of 4 entrees for $22- definitely try the empanadas. 👌
The steak was quite deelish with a smokey flavour from the fire pit, sweet roasted tomatoes & complemented with a great chimichurri sauce. We finished with white chocolate cigars and a tiramisu 😀

Went last night with a large group so had a set menu which was great value for $38pp. We were all seated together on one large table near the window and the service was great. Will definitely go again and try their everyday menu. Loved the sauce they had on the table!

I have heard mixed reviews about this place, so I decided to come and try out myself. It is situated in a perfect location opposite the casino on North Terrace. It has been advertised as an Argentinian restaurant. We booked a table through the online system. Upon arrival we were welcomed by friendly staff member, he offered us a table near the opened kitchen so we could watch the pig getting slow cooked on the stove. We declined as it was rather warm so we were seated at a table near the window and sitting on tall stools.

The best thing about La Boca is the food. We booked a dinner slot for three people and as soon as we walked in were greeted with utmost care and hospitality. The waitress took special care to check up on us every couple of minutes which is always a bonus. Furthermore, there were always a good handful of staff waiting tables at all times to ask any questions or make requests. Interestingly enough, there were actually a couple of Argentinian staff waiting (at least, I think they were Argentinian lol), which, to us, definitely added an authenticity to the experience. Speaking of authenticity, upon walking through the front door, we were treated with the sights, sounds and smells of Argentinian cuisine and culture. The Asador (giant cattle, pig and other delicious-smelling animals suspended and slow-roasted on large vertical grills for the entire day) were fired up and blasting us with their sizzling heat (dress light if you come to eat here) as we were shown to our table, and the atmosphere was a noticably jovial but laid-back one with (probably) Argentinian tango and some sort of salsa playing through the evening. There was a bar and large-screen TV's positioned nearby the Asador pit, and the decor was tasteful and modern, with wall-to-wall french windows facing some of Adelaide's more interesting landmarks - in short, we were never bored while waiting (the surprisingly short time) for the entrees - extremely tangy, full-of-flavour snacks that were surprisingly. we went overboard with the entrees and were rewarded with a variety of flavours such as duck liver pate with fig jam, fish pate, spicy chorizo and blood sausages, pickled eggplants, handmade breads, dips and fresh rocket salad. All the while, the friendly and attentive staff were keeping track of our evening. Once we had finished entrees, our mains and side dishes were brought out in no time at all, and we were, again, pleasantly astounded with the large portions and, more importantly, the smells eminating from our meals. I could tell that the ingredients used were top quality and the freshness and attention to detail of the dishes was well worth the price.
As soon as our mains were brought out, we had a tinge of regret at having ordered the entrees because of the former's volume, but it was very difficult to leave anything behind as the flavours were so unusual and delicious to us. The mixed Creole Asador consisted of some sort of giant Turkey leg, lamb chop and some VERY delicious pork. The taste and smell was overwhlming in its quality and I found myself hurrying to finish everything on my plate. The second main consisting of Quinoa salad was a smogasbord of curd, grains, fresh salad and vegetables with a delicious dressing. The third main was an extremely well-presented selection of grilled vegetables on beds of eggplants, all served on a large wooden board - the smell of freshly barbecued coal-infused vegetables is simply unforgettable.

There was a nice selection of mineral water, teas, coffee, and alcohol, with one of us enjoying a great dry white wine, the other - a Corona and lime. Unfortunately, we didn't have any space left over for dessert, but the tea portions were very generous.

Overall plenty of staff - our friendly waitress was even able to memorise our order without paper and pen, plenty of meat (there is an impressive selection of fish and vegetarian mains and side dishes), plenty of character and flavour, great service, and most importantly EXCELLENT FOOD! Very Argentinian and very worth your time and money.

Stop reading this review and go there. Right now.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! Amazing dishes, beautiful wines and ALL desserts are a 10/10.
Huge restaurant with great vibes and perfect customer service!
Definitely a keeper 👌

We were very impressed with the service we received as soon as we walked in. We ordered the scotch fillet and chicken thigh and were very happy with the serving size and especially the quality of the steak. We are already planning our 'next time'.

What a waste of money and time and I have never come across such a rude incompetent manager ever in the hospitality industry!! We ordered the Wagyu special and 4 out of a party of 12 got the special but then others who had ordered got a cheaper cut of meat which looked like a supermarket cut and cooked terribly. The manager argued over upgrading two adult steaks to what was ordered but they couldn't deliver. Our bill was over $400 and the manger had the nerve to say he was happy to organise the two adults a better steak at a higher cost!!! Are u serious. It took over 45 minutes to get the kids meals delivered (which were stuffed up) and then it was over 1hr 20 by the time the adults were fed but two in the end were not fed!! The owner needs a serious look at who he hires and the Manager should be sacked!! Don't waste your money and time... Much better places around to eat!!
Darren
The barbecue pit is impressive as is the menu (particular if you're in the mood for meat). I ordered a sirloin and didn't need any sauce as the quality of the cut and the cooking was able to let the flavour shine. The vegetables were also delicious. If you go during a non-peak period you can take advantage of specials they have, otherwise the prices are on the higher end of the scale, with a burger one of the cheapest options at around $22 and steak options starting from around mid $30s. I'd like to score higher but the staff were very inattentive (even though they weren't that busy) and I had to proactively go out of my way to obtain menus and then order, which was a bit surprising given the price range and standard from other similar restaurants.

Terrible. Had a booking for 4 people on at Saturday night at 7pm and they had no record of it, so asked us to wait at the bar until 'our table' was ready. We were left asking twice if we were able to sit down, finally at 8:45 we were seated. Food was very average and overpriced. I think I had the nicest plate, a steak, but the others had the mixed meat dishes, which they did not enjoy. Corn tasted frozen and sweet potato mash bland. That's all you got- with your meat.
We were not offered anything to compensate for our long wait, and considering the money we spent at the bar, thought at least we would've been offered a round of drinks. We waited to see if it was worth all the hype and now that we know, we will not be back. There are much better Argentinian restaurants in Adelaide.

Potential for greatness. Love the atmosphere and the idea of this restaurant. I walked in expecting an authentic Argentinian taste. The open-air grilling is a nice touch. The server was efficient and polite and the speed of service was reasonable. I started with the Pan Con Chimi for an appetizer. The bread was cold, but the salsa verde was tasty. For my main course, had the 300gm lomo/beef filet. Cooked correctly and came with a tomato and half a corn on the cob. Unfortunately, the meat had no taste. I am not a foodie or a steak snob, I just enjoy a well-seasoned steak. The outer part of the meat was slightly salted, but the rest of the steak was utterly tasteless. I had the Fritas for a side, which were by and far the most seasoned part of the meal. Argentinians KNOW how to cook steak...I was very disappointed, especially for the price. I really wanted to love this restaurant. For steak lovers...keep looking elsewhere until LaBoca puts a bit more flavor in LaBoca.
Manfred
Slow service, food was mediocre without flavour. Some food was cold by the time we got it.

Little disappointed. We were there for mothers day.
Thinking argentinian grill we think spices, flavour and smokey flavours. Service started out great, entrees great, nice quiet venue with some fun music. Suddenly the footy finished and it got so loud! Could find staff, ppl were lined up for ages by the door waiting for the host to be seated.
Meals were about $40 a head. I had steak with a butter knife and it was so grissly and flavourless i left most of it, few of my family had the barramundi, said it was flavourless mush and not sure why it was served with mashed potato.
We left hungry still and felt a little ripped off.

Smokey. Good service, good atmosphere. Food was fantastic - the steak was so lovely and that chimichuri sauce is to die for!

Beware of the price though, it's a bit on the higher end, with rather small portions. The smoke as well - is it really necessary to flame your beef in front of everyone and smoke up the place? Be prepared to wash your clothes and hair after this! Also my mate was so sensitive to the smoke that he couldn't stop sneezing.

Give it a miss if you have a sensitive nose and would like to find somewhere cheaper, otherwise come here for a good steak.

Great night, fantastic food.. Great food and service. Bring your appetite, you'll need it.

Carte A La
Taste what that smokey smell is all about!. Took the opportunity to sample the menu, started with a mixed plate (duck liver pate, sweetbreads, sausage and pickled eggplant with cheese) then shared a chicken thigh with sides of mashed pumpkin and grilled corn (described as less than a side but more than a garnish, I think the pumpkin was enough for a side) and a rocket/pear salad. Ok, to be picky the rocket served with the starters was lacklustre. Wait staff who served us were good, knew the menu, were prompt. I did notice one staff member running, oh dear. Service seemed to be organised and efficient, we were asked if we wanted to wait between courses. This is the best incarnation the Stamford have ever had in the space, it is a pity they did away with the carpet though because it is a good sound insulator. We arrived at around 8pm on a Monday night and the place was busy, loads more on the menu to try another time. Chicken was really succulent, all starters were good, with the sausage being the highlight. Coupled with the nice Japanese place next door, I reckon the Stamford have truly lifted their game.

I have been working in hospitality in Adelaide for over 10 years and this is the worst service I have ever received. My partner and I were promptly seated by a rude waitress who had a look on her face like somebody had just died. She practically threw the menus on the table and walked away without asking if we wanted a drink or at least any water. My partner doesn't drink but I like to have a glass of champagne/wine while looking at the menu before I decide what I want to eat, but do you think I could find a waiter who was willing to take my drink order? No. Apparently that's not in their job description.
After 5 mins of trying to get someone's attention, I ordered my glass of wine (and also our food) when I was advised that 'there would be a wait on my wine because we have no clean wine glasses' meanwhile I'm watching a full tray of dirty glasses sitting on the bar while what I assume was the manager was walking around picking up more dirty glasses. Finally I saw them pour my wine, it then say on the bar for a further 5 mins while 2 bar staff stood behind the bar having a chat in which time our entree had already arrived at our table. They finally brought it over to me and when I had my first sip I realised it was moscato, not actually the Sauvignon Blanc that I had ordered. At this stage I was already starting to get frustrated so I let it slide and just drank the moscato (which I hate). After about 45 mins our waitress came over and apologised for the wait on our meals, I said it was ok, I understood because I know it's hard on a busy night in a restaurant, I just asked for a wine list so I could order another wine which hopefully they could get right this time. She brought over the wine list and then walked off and didn't even turn back to look at me once in the next 15 mins to see if I would like another drink. Finally the table of 3 guys sitting next to us, who had been seated 20 mins after us got their food and we decided to just get up and leave. We told the waitress on our way out to forget about our meals as we had had enough of waiting, she said she was very sorry and blamed it entirely on the kitchen (a big no no in my books, you should all be working as a team, if one takes the blame, everyone should when it comes to a mistake like this) yet she still charged us for a glass of wine and a glass of juice after waiting nearly 2 hours! I was so angry I couldn't even bring up the fact that my drink order was wrong in the first place. Will never be back and will tell all my friends not to waste their time. I would be appalled if my staff treated my customers like this. Absolutely disgusting.

Amazing food, terrible service. The cured pork and chorizo were like none other. The beef and lamb from the asador had an incredible flavour and so, so tender. The sweet potato mash was a little average.

The service, both at the bar and table was slow and confused. It took a good 10 minutes to receive a beer and vodka soda with fresh lemon (which actually came with the lemon flavouring). The server was charismatic as first, "I'm sorry he beat me to the drinks, I'll be out of a job", but that was about the only time we saw her. Our entrees arrived well after the couple next to us, whom ordered after us - but try flagging down the server... Our salad was left at the counter for about 10 minutes - but again, not a chance you're getting anyone's attention.

And the ambiance was cold and dark with very small tables - probably attributed to the dance club it later transforms to.

Hope you're patient!!!. I'm a regular visitor to Adelaide, stay at the Stamford next door. Have tried it before and experienced a long wait last time so today I thought after a run I'd place my order, medium-well with "Joe - the new guy" and then come back after I was cleaned up. 45min passed and still no meal so I figured, yep they forgot my order!!! So after asking the manager, she said there was a misunderstanding??? Guess it's easier to blame the poor new guy... Finally 55min later, meal arrived... RARE to still mooing on my plate! Disappointed!

Really Disapointing. We had a group of 16 on a Saturday night, and as such, had to book a pre-selected menu. We pre-selected our menu prior to the date, and turned up to find we were given a totally different menu, to which they said nothing could be done as the person we booked with wasn’t in that night. We didn’t receive an apology. We had also booked a 2hr drinks package. The first round of drinks took half an hr to arrive at the tables, so I politely asked when they arrived, if our 2 hrs would be staring from now, as opposed to half an hr ago. The waiter agreed, though made it obvious that I was asking a lot of him. We then had some dips. Dips for 16 people were brought out with 8 small finger sized pieces of pita bread. I politely asked for a little more, enough for everyone, and the waiter brought out another 4 small pieces. I asked a third time, now feeling like a huge inconvenience for them, and we got finally got some more. Went to fix up the bill at the end of the night. They overcharged us. We enquired as to the price and they eventually corrected it, though we were standing at the counter with over $1,000 cash in our hands for over 5 mins before we were acknowledged. When we didn’t tip (normally am quite generous with tips), the waiter made a sarcastic comment about how “generous” we were.
The 4/10 food is not worth the 1/10 service.

Awful experience here. Had a group of 16, for which we were required to book a pre-selected menu. Arrived to find that our menu was nothing like the one we had pre-selected. Staff were not at all apologetic, and just dismissed it, saying that the manager wasn’t in so there was nothing they could do. We had also paid for a 2hr drinks package. The first drinks took half an hr to get the table, so I politely enquired as to whether the 2 hrs would start from now, and not half an hr ago. The waiter, although he agreed, made me feel like they were bending over backwards to do this! Dips for 16 people were brought out with 4 finger size pieces of pita bread. Politely asked for more bread so that everyone could have some. Another 4 tiny pieces were brought out. Asked a third time, by which point I was feeling like a huge inconvenience to them. Finally got some bread for the dips. Time came at the end of the night to pay our bill. Stood at the counter for 10 minutes before anyone came to take out money. Suffice to say we weren’t tipping (I’m normally generous with tips), and our waiter made a sarcastic dig at us as we paid the bill, saying how “generous” we were.
The 5/10 food is not worth the 1/10 service.

Foodie. Been there a few times, love the food, great atmosphere, staff are great! Highly recommend the place to go for an awesome dinner, drinks and it turns into a nightclub late at night! Lots of fun!

A top steak. Ate here for the 3rd or 4th time last night with a business associate, enjoyed a 350gm Aged Scotch (at the chef's recommendation) which was cooked medium rare as ordered - we had the salad of the day and the fritas as sides which were both tasty. The steak was definitely up there with one's i've had at Sosta and Gauchos. Service was fine on this visit - we didn't feel 'smothered' like some places. I feel their pricing reflects the quality. Didn't have room for dessert!

If you want to waste your money this is the place. I have been in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over ten years and I have to say this was one of the worst places I have ever dined. Took over 15 min for a waitress to come to our table, the menu is over priced to start with, then waitress had no clue about the specials and what she told us wasnt what we received .We placed our order and waited 25 min for 2 cokes and table water, entrees came out which was the empenades they where flavorless and dry, mains where the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten the ribs where over cooked dry and flavorless served with a spoon full of sweet potato mash and 1/8 portion of a frozen corn for $22 that was the night special normal price was $30, chicken thigh was edible, the burger was horrible the provolone over powered everything else in the burger and the fries tasted like the oil was old. I had the ribs and couldn't eat them as it was so chewy the only thing I ate was the mash. To top off the crap service when we went to pay the bill they charge a surcharge of 2% for a credit card. Overall this place is disgustingly over priced , food and portion size is not on par with price and is inedible. So disappointed you guys should be ashamed
Can't Be Bothered To Cook
Choose carefully. Great spot for a group and nice atmosphere but staff poorly trained (though nice) and food expensive and hit and miss. Beef ribs inedible, steak ok but for the price should have been superb. Tapas type starters were pretty tasty . My view: fun place that's good for a beer and tapas

Don't waste your time or money!. Tried their Sunday Lunch Buffet last weekend and was terribly disappointed. First of all if you check their menu online it's lists...Beef ribs, Pork ribs and several other meats and sausages. NO Ribs! I asked the "chef" and was told that is only a sample menu, they do not do Ribs on Sunday. So onto the other meats....they carve the Chicken, Lamb and Pork and put on trays under heating lights (not what you do with any meat) Everything was dried out and the fat on all the meat was not rendered properly so all you taste was grease. Likewise, all hot accompanying vegetables, empanadas, and sausages were also kept under these lights so the "dried" outcome was the same. At $37 per head we could have gone to one of our favourite places and had quality food.
Ceeeels
Great, B U T overpriced. Tasty food, lively atmosphere, friendly and helpful service B U T the food is around $10 more, per main meal, than what it should be. I'd only return for the nightly specials.

Argentinean Theatre. Second time to this place, first when just opened, and now. Walking past this place it always has customers because it has a pretty good set up for casual bar chats, with long tables/high stools in an area that opens to the street.
To the restaurant, which turns into a Night Club at 10pm, so if you haven't finished eating, you do eat amongst the "smoke" from the dance floor (you are forewarned by wait staff so it is your choice to stay or go elsewhere), but hey you do have entertainment watching anyone who dances.
To the food: I feel overpriced for what you get. And it didn't feel like any love was put into it.....was it because yet again we were eating at 8:30pm as opposed to the nana hour of 6pm.
So to the food: Shared plate of four choices of the Picada (small dishes) we chose: croquettes de provolone (tasty);terrine de path e amigos (duck prosciutto and fig terrine), tasty; Empanadas, pretty good, but blandish and the chimichurri sauce spiced it up; and two minuscule lamb/chicken skewers.
Mains dishes disappointed. A mixed plate of pork (with a slap of under crackled leathery skin), lamb and beef. Lumps of fat (probably someone's gourmet, but not mine) featured. Meat seemed to be dumped on the plate unceremoniously, perhaps "blokes" like their tucker like that?? (sorry that was sexist). There was a pumpkin'ish accompaniment?? puree or something (not great - no one would eat it).
The corn husk cooked barramundi .....great way to cook fish, and it was succulent. However, with the corn husk being cooked on the char grill created a very unpleasant aroma, and I couldn't shake the taste that it had put into the arena for the rest of the night, served with an OK potato mash.
Oh we had their salad which I have to say was pretty good with lots of different ingredients and was fresh.
To the staff - friendly but over zealous - my picked up saying for the week: "cool your jets". Entertained when we asked for another sauce/any salsa verde etc to accompany the meats, and the young lady said....oh we have this or that, but the chimichurri is better than those....my dish my choice pet, not yours - just remember we had already had it on the picada dishes earlier, so were looking for difference.
Wine list - overpriced.
This restaurant touts itself as Argentinean, and the asador chargrill provides theatre. If you are a serious foodie and looking for Argentinean this may not satisfy your tastebuds. La Boca has a feel of a franchise (apparently it isn't a franchise) and is gimmicky.
I suppose at lunch.... burgers serve a better product/market.

Waste of Money. We walked in with high hopes and walked out very disappointed!
The ambience is good - that's the only good thing in this dive!
The service was very slow. When the food finally arrived it was cold and not what we'd asked for.
How the heck did our order of chicken with roast potatoes become the mess on our plates that was smothered in corn and mashed pumpkin?!
The waitress had no customer service skills obviously as she tried to justify their glaring mistake.
I strongly advise not eating here as to top it all off the meal was insipid and tasteless.
Uptomischief
Disappointed. Our party of 4 adults and 4 children arrived early, 6.30-ish. Firstly., the drinks order was not filled correctly, then we had a long wait for our orders to be taken, and an even longer wait (almost an hour) for the order to arrive, which prompted a query from us to how much longer we needed to wait. We were told it was on it's way but waited a further 5 minutes. When the orders arrived all the food was cold to luke warm. The only hot food were the roast potatoes. Truly an unacceptable performance. When I raised it with the maitre'd he apologized and then provided a discount, which was welcome but we would have preferred our food hot. I do wonder how many others in the restaurant last night had cold food.

Quick and Friendly Service. My husband and I dined at La Boca on Christmas Eve, and the Service was excellent and the Food was very tasty.
I don't know that if it had been busier our experience might have been slightly less positive i.e. longer wait times and rushed staff. We will definitely be going back.

There were positives and negatives about our dining experience tonight. So much so that I am not even going to like or dislike the restaurant.
The decor upon entry was good. The BBQ was impressive and bode for a good evening. We were seated in an unusual booth, I really liked it but others did not but they warmed to it. What I hated was the table top, it was a laminex fake wood with the restaurant's name in large letters.
The starters were very appealing and I thought well priced until they arrived, they were tiny but they tasted fantastic.
The waiting staff were hit and miss. At times they were excellent and then seemed to disappear! Ordering drinks took patience as half the time it took two attempts to have the drinks delivered.
I ordered the BBQ plate which came served with vegitables (some sweet potato mash and half a corn on the cob) that were not what I would concider vegitables but I suppose we were there for the meat.
The serving again was not enough concidering the price but the meat was quite tasty.
Food - Above average but over priced
Staff - Ok but could improve
Decor - Generally very good
Will I return, not in a hurry but I still would go again and probably have the burger that my son thought was ok.
Josh
Mediocre food. Ordinary wine list. High expectations as smell on arrival is awesome but let down by pedestrian overcooked slabs of meat in amongst a decor of laminex benches.
Annie
Greatly disappointing. Overpriced poor quality entrees
very overpriced mains for the serves...1 beef rib for $31
$25 jug of sangria that tasted like cordial
Only got 3 of the 4 entrees and had to ask for the 4th twice
Had to ask for table water twice and of top of that had to wait and wait for everything
Staff apologizes over and over about lack of service...doesnt help sorry

Great friendly service. Had Monday burger special, came quickly. meat pattie quite nice, condiments and salad (ie lettuce, tomato and cheese) reminded me of below average pub burger. My main issue here was I left smelling of BBQ smoke that had infused my hair, smell didn't go until I had hair wash.

Excellent experience. We chose La Boca to celebrate my sons birthday. Booked online easy as, arrived at 6pm and greeted by friendly staff. Our drinks arrived promptly as did all of our food which was amazing. All the staff were great especially our waitress Stephanie, very friendly and accomodating , we will definitely be returning to this restaurant and recommend it highly.

The Asador sold out!. La Boca's main attraction is the Asador - fire pit.... Very disappointed to order mains and be informed by wait staff that the Asador has sold out.

Then it turns into a night club.. Very weird. Who are they?

To cap it off they don't do split bills and wait staff directed us to the ATM.

Excellent food and service. We had a fantastic meal Friday night here... and the atmosphere was equally as good. the three meat plate was full of some of the tastiest meat I have eaten at a restaurant. Our waiter Jimmy was superb. we will certainly be back

Yummy Smokey Ribs!. La Boca is a restaurant with smokey flavours smoke from the assador grill. Staff are friendly with smile on the face. We ordered few of the dishes. Although we had to wait for a while due to busy dinner, we still enjoy the atmosphere. The pork ribs was juicy smokey and grilled well. Flat bread with dips also tasty. I will come back for another meal.

Great service, disappointing food. We were initally seated in the busy main section of the restaurant on uncomfortable metal chairs. Unfortunately due to a back injury I had to request a change of table/chairs which the supervisor accommodated with little hassle - pleasantly surprising for a Saturday night.
Our waiter (Ryan) was fantastic, with great conversation, menu guidance and prompt service. Unfortunately the food was not on par. Entrees were definitely the highlight, and due to the quality of the mains we were very glad we had ordered them! Both the combo meat and burger dishes provided disappointment. There was nothing much to the burger with little flavour and the slow cooked meat was dry and gristly. No slow cooked beef was available so was replaced with a short rib which we could not even cut through.
We were expecting a quant almost fine dining restaurant considering the location and prices. Instead we found uncomfortable furniture, kids running around and disappointing food. Our first date night since having a baby was not as expected!

Good service. The service we received at La Boca Bar and Grill was outstanding. The waitress was extremely helpful and attentive. We enjoyed the food but in retrospect wished we had ordered more entrees, rather than a main course. The venue became a bit smoky. Would be a great place for a crowd.
Word On The Eat
Smokey Goodness. La Boca is defiantly for the carnivore eater with massive smokey flavours to be consumed from the assador grill. dined in for a massive lunch tasting several dishes of the menu.

A crowd favorite being the assador chicken , juicy smokey and buttery in flavour. the pan con chimi (flat bread ) with dips also hit the spot, savouring the pesto dip to spread all over the steak was delicious. A big thumbs on the Argentine burger - a delicious chimichurri sauce and mouth watering patty. However the chips let the meal the down, under seasoned and slightly under cooked.

La Boca had a great first impression (the grill and and bar being a great feature point) unfortunately the experience was numbed by the staff who seemed more interested talking among them selves than doing their job. we had to wait 15 minutes to find out if we could move to a larger table (all the food wouldn't fit) - and staff not knowing whether they were able to make ice coffee or not ??

Overall was a pleasant experience, a few little tweaks and La Baco could really hit it off for reasonable priced Argentine food in Adelaide.

Thank you for a wonderful experience!. My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful one year anniversary at La Boca on Friday evening.

As a hospitality student at Le Cordon Bleu, I often like to critique the service of food and beverage staff as I have high expectations of various venues.

On this particular evening I found the F&B attendants very attentive and pleasant and believe that their enthusiasm and passion really influenced the level of customer service and made our overall experience very enjoyable.

The only fault we experienced on the day was that we ordered an entree and a main, our mains came a lot quicker than expected, however our entree's never seemed to arrive. Despite this, the attendant taking care of our table was very empathetic and took the entree off our bill so the service recovery was really good.

The food at La Boca was delicious, the portion sizes are beyond expectation and the food is so good that you can really tell that the chef puts his heart and soul into his cooking.

With the passion, dedicated staff and vibrant atmosphere, La Boca Bar and Grill is definitely on the top of my list of places to come back to. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

La Boca Bar & Grill Reveiw 10/10/14. Party of 15 for a birthday dinner on Friday 10/10/14. Our waitress was great and very accommodating. Entrée tapas style were good and the serving sizes where bang on. Vegetarians in the group said theirs entrées were good. $39/head set menu options was good. Steaks cooked perfectly but where a little fatty. The pear side salad easily could have been a stand alone vego option and was delicious. Sangria jugs were reasonable value and a were tasty. It was great that the venue had a DJ later on - didn't need to leave the venue to dance.

Damn disappointing. Recommended we go there for a birthday dinner after seeing it mentioned on SA life, unique cooking method, something different. Starters were good, sort of tapas style, but the mains including their specialty pork and 6 hr slow cooked lamb were so disappointing, particularly when you factor in the cost. Lamb was so fatty and flavourless, ribs were tough, pork was dry, just a real let down.

Took forever for the food to come out

Why pay that much for something you can do at home by chucking some coles lamb in the oven.

just meh

Heard good comments about the restaurant.
the slow cooked pork was undercooked/or overcooked (it should be melt in your mouth)the beef was gristly which I returned and the next piece of beef was unremarkable.ventialtion is very poor it was too smoky. the margarita was watery. I was disappointed by the whole evening.i wouldn't recommend it.

Very average and disappointing. Arrived at 7 and was rushed to table to told to order immediately as they needed us out as quick as possible.
Staff very rude!!! Especially bar staff who on multiple occasions would just ignore you and continue their conversation. Had to ask the manager on floor twice to help us order drinks... No apologies!!! If you are going to order sangria... Ignore the "8 glasses " it almost filled 4 small water glasses and staff didn't care about this when asked. Food took 2 hours to come out!! Burgers were average, ribs were very tough and almost un edible but the eggplant was great ( go for this!!!). Servings are ok but all members of the table left hungry. People around us were not happy either! Would not go back.

Disappointed. Waitress was attentive but the food was disappointing actually crap. Entre was poor and main course was poorer. Had invited interstate guests and I was embrassed with the food.

Pricey for some pretty av food. Took out my dad for Father's Day with the family. Understandable that they would be busy, unreasonable that it took 1.5 hours for our meals to come out. Once they finally arrived the $7 Argentinian spiced chips... Were potatoes with salt? My mums ribs were so tough, she couldn't bite through the meat and my steak was cold. Considering they're charging the same price as other Argentinian restaurants, just go to Sosta or Gauchos and get some better food.

Very attentive and friendly staff. Excellent food. Reasonable price (but I am from Perth where meals like we had would cost at least 1/3 more). Definitely will come back when next in Adelaide.

Ate here on a Wednesday night with a group of 6, great atmosphere, pretty busy and our waitress was very attentive. The experience went down from there. My friend ordered $59 set menu, bread didn't arrive, mains ok and desert never arrived. I had ordered my dinner first as I wanted to leave early and after an hour 5 of our 6 meals arrived. When my chicken eventually did arrive it was undercooked and I wasn't happy too eat it. When we spoke to supervisor she was very apologetic and tried to do her best to make it up to us. Something is going quite wrong in the kitchen of this place and I certainly wouldn't waste money eating here, it's a pity because the staff were clearly trying their best.

Food was good, the portion we finally got!. Booked for 6 people 6 o'clock. Arrived on time ordered at 6.20. Gave very clear details that we needed to be out by 7.30pm. "Yes, that will be fine", they said, very obligingly, however they did not deliver. 1. Ordered Chips to share, NEVER CAME. 2. Ordered Pescado, waitress suggested for it ALL to come at the same time, I agreed, and thanked her, it was recorded on the menu. Received, oysters and prawns, then Fish. Bread NEVER came, Dessert NEVER came. 3. Reported tin foil stuck to Pork, answer, OH WELL. 4. Bill is not right, charged for a PICHTER of Sangria we never had either - won't have minded some, now I've seen it on the menu.
So embarrassed as I had invited my friends to somewhere I thought would be different and nice.
If you have lots of time and keep on top of the staff, I expect you could have a nice meal there.

Why the bad reviews? This place was awesome.. So you walk into a themed restaurant. Hard to believe this used to be Swish. Coloured chairs, big wooded tables by large open windows, an open wood fire cooking the meat and a bustling bar.
8 of us dined and all had different meals which were very tasty. I'm not Argentinian so I cant comment on just how authentic they were. But it annoys me when people expect food like they ate in Buenos Aries. Australian versions of most dishes very from their authentic originals (eg Yiros in Greece are very different with less salad, and pasta in Italy far more aldente).
The atmosphere of the open wood grill and the aroma from it was very unique.
The staff were very friendly and attended to us many times.
Were they busy? Did we wait a while sometimes for service at the bar? YES
But its Friday night. No more busy that most popular places. So people complaining about slow service when they rock up on a busy Saturday night when the footy is on are just impatient.
None of us had a bad meal, and if we did, you cant base your whole review of a place on one dish.
So for a fresh decore, pleasant ambiance, friendly staff and tasty food, we all enjoyed ourselves.

Great place!. Amazing atmosphere. The waitress who attended to us was very in the know and was very friendly. My partner and I had perfect food. My steak was cooked perfectly. would definitely recommend and revisiting again soon!

Crap restaurant. Bad service and almost 2 hours for a steak!
David Weight
Crap service and very average food

Entering the restaurant was exciting as you walk past the big grill and I thought that I was in for a real treat - the steaks were ok but the service was a real let down - we had to call the waiting staff for drinks every time and they forgot to bring them twice.. Even getting the bill was a challenge! Won't be going back in a hurry...
Mikejb2003
Not happy :-(. Unfortunatly our experiance at this restaurant wasn't a good one. Firstly we were seated on small steel childrens stools at our table. Secondly we had to wait 45 min for our main meal to arrIve. Then when it did arrive, the steaks we ordered were not cooked to how we asked them. Nor was one even able to be eaten as it was as tough as an old boot! admitidly the maitre was very apologetic and gave us one free drink and replace the unwanted steak. I doubt whether we will return to this restaurant again. PS One of the drinks that we ordered wasn't even the correct one. Poor!
Stan
Not so great. I had high expectations going in. Unfortunately the meal didn't come close to expectations. The steak was relatively expensive compared to other steak restaurants around Adelaide and the quality was a let down with gristle in the scotch fillet - which made me wonder whether it was actually a scotch fillet.

Potential. Tasty food, some items unfortunately sold out for 7.30 booking? different setting, borderline VFM, but.... some of the worse bar and table drinks service, even sitting at an empty bar, staff ignored four thirsty willing customers, we were in no rush intending to stay three or four hours but....thanks to girl on glass collection who came to the rescue on 25/7
Eatdrink
Really not worth $75 a head for 2 courses.

I understand the concept but see no reason for such tack to be added to the idea of the asador.

Top dollar for a primo spec fitout. Adelaide really is behind the 8ball food wise.

Food was amazing!! It was unfortunate they had sold out on a lot of things but what we ordered was still YUM! Our waitress 'Lexy' was fantastic! Very knowledgable and super friendly. However STEVE (I think manager?) was so frantic! Unprofessional... I wanted to whack him one to snap him out of it haha!
Andrepert
Greeted at the door by a lady who was eating. Tried to order a drink. They were out of it. Tried to order the sampler platter. They were sold out of BBQ? So we left.
Georgia
Delicious. Fantastic food! Great service, waitress explained all the food perfectly. Friendly staff.
Loved everything. Definitely recommend trying the entradas. Lots of tasty morsels I probably wouldn't normally order. Just delicious!
Will definitely be returning!
Sam
Complete let down. The service and food were terrible. Please do NOT waste your money and time. It took them half an hour to bring our drinks.
Kilala
I couldn't believe that place used to be swish!! It look awesome! But the lunch menu was a massive let down. The lunch specials was only two things price at $15. The rest of the lunch menu was priced from $18 + for pasta.

The menu they had was more of a dinner menu not lunch! They also had advertising a picture of a wrap out the front of the bar but when asking about it the waiter didnt know what we were talking about, we had to go outside and point it out only to find out that it was only done when the footy was on!

I felt cheated and ripped off, save your money. Your better of cooking you own meal.

Absolutely tasty. I will be back.. I enjoyed the lunch buffet this weekend. There was a great selection of food that included a wide range of meats (of course!), vegies, salads, empanadas, breads, dips, desserts and more. You got to try almost everything that they have to offer. Food was cooked perfectly. Staff were lovely. Atmosphere was fun. This place would be prefect for groups.
Reina Rain Symmons
Appalling service, most notably by management. Extremely long wait. Left after our very average entree. Do NOT waste your time or money here.
Claudia
Average food in the buffet lunch.
Not enough variety.
The waitress was very sweet and offered excellent service, unfortunately the same did not apply to her abrupt and rude supervisor/barman. We had a 12 year old with us and we had to produce her id to prove her age so that we could take advantage of the children eat free special. Very disappointing and the buffet is not good value for money for families.

Great vibe throughout the restaurant - food below well below average!
Good concept they just haven't followed it through
Lou
Great food and service. Had a fantastic night.
Debbie Bernardo
Great vibe and smell when you enter, but overall not a great experience. Food was cold...... Just heat the plates guys. Food arrived spasmodically as another reviewer put it. Best part of the evening was the wine and a very petite but efficient waitress, Krestina.
Audreyjp.qsa
Auds. To be honest don't waste your time, service was poor, staff were ill educated on the menu overall not a great experience....also they need to make their mind up when they are open for drinks only & open for food - please correct your signage outside -
DianaW
Diana. We were disapointed with the food here. Was served spasmodically & the mains were not hot. My friends salmon was half cooked & had to be returned-not good especially when this restaurant is linked to the Stamford Plaza (supposedly 5 Star?) We happened to be staying there, which is why we ended up here & we were too tierd to wander around looking elsewhere. As I am vegetarian there was not a lot of chioces for me ( luckily I eat fish as there would have been zilch- except for maybe the roast potatoes & a couple of the dips) I actually ordered a side of the sweet potatoe, which incidently was very greasy & half cold as well. Do not think this was a very authentic Argentinian restaurant, however it is new so maybe it will overcome the initial teething problems

Better steaks at fasta pasta or primos..... Ordered steak, was terrible. Absolutely gristly and chewy. Was meant to come with vegetables and only got 3 little pieces of soggy veggies. Really shocking food, poor quality and I wasn't the only disappointed at our table. Will not go back & I have honestly had better quality steaks at Fasta Pasta.

Amazing food. The food were fantastic, worth the wait. Me and my frds enjoyed dine in the ambience. Very happy to have this new restaurant in our city

Disappointed. I'm Argentinean,,

Very very poor,

Chimmichurri is NOT an Argentinean Dip, it is to be put on meat, why on earth is it on the platter to dip with bread,

Meat is not completely cooked on the asado, when meat is cooked on the asado, its slow cooked, hence the fat should almost melt away, my meat was full of fat, it was chewy,

My pork ribs tasted like they had been rubbed on lamb, the taste was horrendous,

If a restaurant is going to call themselves and "Argentinean" restaurant, then i believe that they should be sticking with that philosophy and trying to create and atmosphere like that, the background music i heard when i was there was not at all Argentinean, not one song was Argentinean,

I think La Boca needs to re-think the way they portray "Argentinean" Food,
Valerie
Amazing and delicious! I know because I've grown up on real Argentinean Asado being the country too! The smells of the open pit BBQ bring back some memories. very happy and content memories! bring on the beef
Louis Veralis
Very basic Quality of meat .... Very basic
Quality of meat is quiet low although cooking methods are exceptional
Flavours are great but wish quality was higher
Chimmichurri is horrible
Great decor very informed staff and very small limited menu
Kids menu is good too

If you like meat and the smokey, charcoal smell of a BBQ, La Boca on North Terrace might be a good place to visit. We’ve heard a fair bit about this place and it certainly looks popular on weekend nights full to the brim, so we thought we would check it out and headed into town for Sunday lunch. We didn’t really know what to expect apart from plenty of meat options as La Boca is an Argentinean restaurant. As we entered La Boca the smell of the fire pit and BBQ meat makes you realise these guys might know what they are doing; the smell was incredible. We didn’t know that the lunch menu on a Sunday was exclusively an all you can eat buffet for $37.00 each with children 12 and under free (one per adult). It’s best to bring your appetite to get your money’s worth, but we can guarantee you won’t want much for dinner! The Sunday lunch menu included 3 types of meats straight off the BBQ (pork, lamb & chicken) – all very well cooked and seasoned, although we thought the pork was a little too salty. There are up to 7 hot vegetable selections to choose from plus 3-4 cold salads and breads. Plenty to go around. Make sure you leave room for dessert too, because La Boca has roughly 5-6 different bite size desserts to chose from that were very rich but incredibly tasty. We must admit that we were a little disappointed we didn’t get to try the a la carte menu where we really could have sunk our teeth into a good steak. Poor planning on our behalf, but we might have found an opportunity for a family lunch at a city location that not many people know about, as the restaurant was fairly quiet when we were there. It is definitely an interesting experience; the meat pit is fascinating and produces great quality meat, while there is also blood sausage and traditional Argentinian empanadas which were delightful. Overall it was a pleasurable lunch, but we don’t know if we enjoyed the best experience La Boca has to offer. Main meal – Cordero Al Asador (Lamb), Bondiola De Cardo (pork), Poll

La Boca is an Argentinian restaurant at the recently revamped Stamford Plaza. It has an enormous open raised charcoal fire 'pit' where whole sides of meat along with fish and chicken are cooked long and slowly.
Adelaidefoodcentral
I just happened to be walking to a birthday party at The Stamford last week when I was distracted by the wonderful smells of barbecued meats coming from La Boca. In the same location that was formerly Swish, is a newly opened Argentinian restaurant that specialises in cooking meats over the asador (fire pit).
Feed Me, Adelaide
The meaning of la boca is more or less “the mouth”. It is also apparently a region, or barrio, of Buenos Aires. Not entirely sure which angle they have taken with this, perhaps a little of both.
