Great food...wonderful staff. Can’t do enough for you. Salt and pepper eggplant...amazing! Vietnamese rolls...yum! Wish I had a bigger stomach to fit more in!
Thank you to the owners and the amazing staff!
What a restaurant! Lovely friendly effecient staff. Maria made myself and my colleague very welcome.
The food is brilliant and price very reasonable.
I highly recommend Vietnamese food fans give this place a go.
Try the pork ball cold rolls and the crispy squid.
Several times ive eaten here with friends and each time it doesnt disappoint! The food is so fresh and delicious. The service always with a smile, even when i try and order hoisin with my cold rolls and are very quickly told "no! You must have the special sauce!" . Do not leave without ordering the salt and pepper eggplant (oh em gee), the seafood glass noodle salad and the sugar cane prawn cold rolls. Be back soon!!!
Stopped in for lunch today,it was so busy we asked to sit outside expecting a wait but no the staff were excellent icy cold beer immediately and then cold flannels. The meal was faultless we will definitely be back cheers guys
A very welcoming restaurant, we didn't book but they found us a table, nothing was too much trouble. The food was great and didn't take long to come out. The prices were very reasonable and the amount of food was great, we couldn't eat it all so we took a doggie bag home with us. We will most defiantly gbe going there again.
Great place. The best food 🥘 and friendly staff
Food was fantastic as usual. As a regular customer I would like to compliment all staff on the care and attention on display. Maria reminded me of a conductor leading her orchestra as they smoothly deal with the needs of all. The best service, teamwork personified and a pleasure to witness. Thanks Maria for always being great x
This is one of the best Vietnamese food restaurant you can find in Adelaide. The BBQ quail is one of the must-try. I also love their hot and sour soup here. Overall, the food is prepared fresh and served hot. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. if you're coming at around 6-8pm, remember to book prior to coming, since they can get busy. Will DEFINITELY come and enjoy their food again!
Always a pleasure to share the dinning experience with various people all of whom have nothing but the best to say about the food and the service...Dinh and his family continue to make this one of if not the best Vietnamese restaurant in Adelaide.
Sensational
Everything on the menu is superb
Great food
Great service
Great beer
Yummy food and fantastic service
Awesome place. My favourite place of all time.
The Vietnam is an iconic restaurant that has been around for many years. The food is great, no fuss and plenty of options for all tastes. The business is family run so staff are super friendly and polite. Prices are good and if you get the chance to book in for Vietnamese new year you should do so as it’s a great night. Banquets are a great option if you don’t know what to choose off the menu but the quails are a must. Sometimes it can be a bit tight for space but that because it’s so popular with everyone. Go there, you won’t regret it.
Great local place that been here for years.
The food and atmosphere are very quaint and bookings a much.
Very popular with the Vietnamese community.
My family and I were visiting Adelaide, and came here for dinner after getting recommendations from a friend. We arrived around 8pm on a weekday, and was able to get a table for 5pax despite just walking in without a booking(booking definitely recommend!!).
We ordered the warm seafood salad, crispy soft shell crab, salt n pepper eggplant, combination hotpot rice, BBQ lemongrass chicken and the sugarcane prawns vermicelli noodles.
All the dishes were really tasty and it didn't take too long for the dishes to come. Service could be improved..but otherwise the food is great!
I would come back if I visited Adelaide again.
A mate of mine and I just rocked up one night before a movie. We had not booked and there were no free tables. Seen as it was just the 2 of us they asked if we were just just having mains and knew what we wanted. We said yes. So they were grabbed a table from a big reserved table that had not yet arrived just for us and took our order. 5 minutes later we had our meals. Then as we left the table we had used went back on the long reserved row just as the new diners arrived. We were in and out in 20 minutes, but even during that time the owner had the time to stop by and welcome us and make sure we were happy... the meals were great. A place that will accommodate you if they can. But I strongly recommend booking like I have done so since. It's worth it.
Fantastic food ! We had the sizzling peanut steak and honey chicken, fried rice and the beef Satay for entree was the best we've ever had. Service was super quick and the young waitresses and waiter were extremely helpful and polite, the older ones not so much but whatever the food was great! It was packed to the rafters but we were in and out within an hour! Vietnamese coffee to finish was excellent.
Famous Vietnam restaurant in Adelaide, everyone goes there, great food, love the pork and prawn rolls and quails. Need to book ahead as seats go fast.
Have to admit that this is the best taste Vietnamese food I ever had!!! From the drink and entrées to main dishes, everything taste amazing!! I highly recommend all the food i try and no one should miss that coconut juice, you won't find the same thing in other restaurants.
This restaurant is very busy so you have to book in advance!!! We have book a time from 5:30-7:00 (yes, it has time limits) and the restaurant is always full and crowded during our eating.
The reason why I give 4 is that it seems the waitress will always hard sell something. The eggplant is the one recommended by the waitress, although it really taste good but one of my friend is allege to it. We agree to order but just 1 min later we remind this fact and ask another waitress to cancel this dish, but after 10mins the eggplant still comes and we still have to pay for it.
Must be the best food I ate in Adelaide!
A Vietnamese icon in Adelaide since the 1980s! Amazing cheap Vietnamese food.... their pork meatballs and sugarcane prawns are the best I've ever had... their bbq Quail is an experience .... service can vary depending on how busy they are but the food is definitely worth a try
First time to dine at Vietnam Restaurant for dinner service. Decor basic. Service prompt and friendly. Had seafood salad, cold roll diy platter, quail, and combination pork rice also coconut juice. All ingredients fresh and full of flavour. Overall a great experience and will definitely come back again.
I've visited this establishment 3 times and I live in Sydney. I would visit with my partners' mother and she would take me here every second trip I'm down to visit.
She always knows what to order, and on occasion, the staff would provide suggestions from the new menu items.
Food would arrive promptly and great as we always order food to feast upon like a banquet. I've always enjoyed their fried rice, salt and pepper calamari. Recently tried their salt and pepper eggplant and would not have expected how much I'd like it.
Their dessert menu is limited but I've always enjoyed the different treats they have.
I'm sure to visit them for the rest of my life and I cannot see how they can do any wrong.
Arguably the best Vietnamese restaurant in Adelaide. Most dishes are done well, tasty and authentic. The fact the place is packed most nights is a testament to the quality of their food. My only complaint is that their tables for two are small so cannot order too many dishes at a time.
All foods are delicious and I will be back when I come here again. Staffs served well even everyone was very busy. Overall, this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant ever in Adelaide.
I have heard soooo much about Vietnam Restaurant and I finally I had the opportunity to try it out. We were lucky to walk in and get a table for 2, for an hr, on a Tuesday night the restaurant was fully booked out. The dishes were tasty but I guess with all the hype I was expecting more..
Best Vietnamese in Adelaide. You HAVE to book, it's always booked out. Highlights are the beef satay (coming from someone who hates beef satay, I can't stress how delicious they are), the quail, the prawn and sugarcane skewers, the soft shell crab, the pho and the coconut juice. I love everything on the menu.
I didn't even think to reserve a table before We came tonight since it is a quiet suburb. The restaurant was packed before 7pm on sat night.
Inside dining layout is overcrowded and noisy, I think it would be nicer to sit outdoor area if not too cold.
The food was great and remarkable. The kitchen work fast to push out all our food in half hr after we ordered. Specially, the restaurant was already busy and jam packed.
Waitress MARIA was the highlight of the night.
She breakdown the menu, explains the dishes and takes care of the whole table. She recommends their signature dishes for our first visit sake. The success of restaurant greatly results from her hospitality (if she is actually the owner)
Probably one of the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. Had the quail, seafood salad and the cold roll combination. Everything was absolutely delicious. The cold rolls are a must try because the peanut sauce is amazing.
Alright, it's so hard for me to review this restaurant because this is one of my favourite places and its because their food were actually amazing and the people were so lovely.
However, we went here to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary. We've ordered a few main dishes and they were all amazing. Every bits of it were
Super delicious!! In fact I was so happy, all the food that we ordered were amazing and appetising.
Tho the issue was they all came out separately. The crispy soft shell crabs and salt and pepper squid came out 15 mints after ordering. Followed by the fried rice 20 minutes later. Then followed by the rest of the dishes. Everything went cold and we couldn't really enjoy it because the main dishes came out 20 mins before the fried rice and others. It was such a disappointment. Tho the manager realised that we were a bit upset and told us that next time tell them to take all the dishes (main, appetisers etc.) out at the same time and she was so apologetic. The experience was almost perfect I was gonna give them a 5 because their food was the best! The best ever ! So sorry for now but I have to review my entire experience and not just the food !
Vietnam restaurant is really popular. It is one of me and my friends' favourite place to dine. I brought my parents to Vietnam restaurant on a weekday after 8pm and it was still packed. I really love their make your own sugar cane prawns and pork balls cold roll. Not to mention their quails which are amazing as well.
We arrived for our 7:45 booking and were immediately seated. Staff were friendly and helpful. We possibly over ordered as we were all hungry but also wanted to try so much. The make your own cold rolls are a nice social element to the meal and the pork balls were delicious. The quail was also delicious. My favourite main would have been the clay pot but I suggest getting a side of veg with it as the flavour is strong and it needs some balance.
Will certainly go back if we visit Adelaide again. It's certainly worth the drive too (we drive from Belair).
Visited this restaurant by a friend's recommendation and it was sooo good!!! Food was delicious, good portion, reasonably price and friendly service. It was packed at 5pm, a sign of a good restaurant! Everyone in Adelaide or visiting Adelaide must try and book before you go. We were lucky to get a table because we came early on our way to the airport.
Food was delicious! I recommend the bbq quail and the cold roll with pork. The combination rice (medium) was nice and can feed 3-4 people.
Been visiting Vietnam for the last few years. Delicious pho for lunch and very reasonable prices. But took my partner Ali there for valentines day dinner and it was excellent. $30 for one of the banquets which is a bargain. Their famous quails, roll your own cold rolls, combination rice hot pot, salt and pepper prawns and sweet onion chicken cooked on the bone. All delicious and we couldn't finish it all despite my epic appetite. Highly recommended
One of the best authentic Vietnamese restaurant I've been in the area ...friendly
Staff good menu had cold rolls (which make yourself at table) which I thought was a good idea ,I always try the Vietnamese Coffee ☕ soo sweet 😁 ,quails are worth trying aswell
My first experience of Vietnam Restaurant was for Valentine's Day dinner with my partner. We were seated near a wall littered with framed news articles and accolades awarded to the restaurant over it's past 31 impressive years of operation. It didn't take us long to discover why this restaurant has been operating nearly as many years as my partner and I have been gracing the Earth. We had the V2 banquet, $29 pp. First up, BBQ quail. The lemongrass chilli flavours in the quail were fantastic, I only wish it was big bird I was eating, not a little quail, but granted, there was actually a decent amount of meat on those little suckers. Next, we ordered a serve of Vietnamese spring rolls (because I saw them being delivered to another table and couldn't help myself); although tasty pieces of heaven, this was clearly a rookie move on my part from a stomach space conservation perspective. Next was the cold rolls with pork skewers which were delicious, followed by the salt n pepper king prawns, hot pot main and chicken main. We are not ones to shy away from a decent sized feed, but by the time the mains came to our table we were holding a white flag in the form of two takeaway containers. The amount of food garnished for $29 pp was a bargain. The staff were very attentive and the food just kept on coming with minimal wait time, despite a busy service. Will visit again soon, but next time I'll just stick to ordering a main...and maybe an entree. And another spring roll 😉
Had a last minute idea to eat here on a Wednesday night. Didn't make a booking so had to wait for a table. No issue with that. Seated at the time they stated they would and prompt drink food orders taken. Ordered the 2 person banquet (version 2). The food was beautiful. Quail, Pork Cold Roll, Mixed Hot Pot Rice, Soy Crispy Chicken and Prawns. Plenty of food $29.50 each! Will be back, and ensure we book! ☺
Excellent food with chilli dishes having a good kick. All dishes were delicious for our table of four. Service very good too. Very generous serving sizes for very reasonable prices. We did BYO wine but they do serve wine and beer. VERY VERY popular. We had a booking for 6:30pm and from then on there was a wait for everyone who followed. Make the effort - it's worth it. Some open windows would be good on a warm night.
As part of our trip to Adelaide, we were recommended to visit one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town - aptly known as Vietnam restaurant. Interestingly, this restaurant wasn't located in the well known inner city foodie streets such as Gouger or Peel, but a 20 minute drive towards Port Adelaide. Basically located on a suburban street, parking is easy to find in the adjacent side streets.
This is one of the most popular and well known Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide. It has been always the pick from the crowd so please make sure you secure your booking early especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Menu hasn't really change in all these years - serving traditional authentic Vietnamese food which is what I like. Food service is fast and good. Couple of must try dishes are quails, make your own roll with crispy pork and the hot pot chicken rice. The sauce for making your own rolls has an additional cost now if you want to top up which I think it's slightly ridiculous, it cost $2 for about half a bowl (staff stated that's one serve). The service the staffs provide there can be here and there. Some are good and some are just really arrogant. I might just do takeaway next time instead of dining in. Beverages - If you can tolerate caffeine, have the Vietnamese coffee which is brew to perfection. They also serve coconut juice but sometimes it is served while it is still frozen. Overall not too bad, services from staffs has a big margin of improvement.
There is a LOT on the menu here, including a few nice vego options. The Char kway teow is certainly a standout.
It's not as world-rockingly good as I was lead to believe, but still very good and a nice surprise on Addison Rd.
Beware, it gets real busy so book and then eat quickly, lest you be swept out the door by some lovely young staff who are obviously under the pump to get people in and out ASAP. Not a place for dawdlers.
When I think about Vietnamese food, this place comes to my mind first. Everytime I have visited this place, they have amazed me with their food, with their hospitality and warmth. Just a bit of advice for those who don't know yet, if you are planning to go there, DO NOT even think about rocking up without making a reservation. Yes, even in a Tuesday evening- otherwise you will be really disappointed.
My all time favourites over there are- Char-grilled Quail, Soft Shell crab and oh yes! The DIY rolls. Make your own rolls and show off your mates who's the master in making the best roll in the table.
Also, don't miss out the fresh seafood salad- you won't get any fresher anywhere else with the secret dressing that lifts the salad in a different height.
Everytime I have been there I have ordered so many amazing entrees that I couldn't get a chance to order mains. Well, it all about exploration and I guess, I will get there soon :)
Bbq quail is a winner. And the combination steamboat. Haven't had a dish here I haven't liked. Very well priced. Very busy and noisy. Dont go here if you're with family / more than 4 people and want a decent chat.
It has been a dogs age since I last visited this restaurant. Nothing has changed, excellent food & great service. The restaurant was only half full for lunch which made a change from the Sunday lunch trade, which is usually bustling & noisy. Will definitely be back. Perhaps the mud crab will be available next time.
Anyone visiting Adelaide needs to put this restaurant on their list of go-to places. Their popular dishes are the bbq quail, seafood salad and prawn and pork cold rolls. So good.
As far as the food goes, this place is well worth the trip out to Pennington. One of the best Vietnamese restaurant's in Adelaide. The Quail, pork skewers and hot pot deserve special mentions. This place however is very very busy, so not exactly conducive for a relaxing atmosphere. The last time I was there with three others, while the food was great and serving lady nice. We did feel cramped and rushed to leave, so other awaiting diners could take our place. Ok for a informal evening for two. Not a place to go in a large group. Booking is essential.
The Vietnam Restaurant is well worth the trip out to Pennington. The banquet with bbq quail, pork ball cold rolls and hot pot is what brings me back time after time. Make sure you book as this place is full every night of the week.
Great. Have been going for over 20 years, food and service great, just a little noisy if anything.
Best vietnamese food!!. Been here a few times, best is sitting outside in summer. Food and service is excellent. Awesome quail and soft shell crab. Also get the cold rolls and steam boat.
Flocky. Great food serving the best food from Vietnam in Adelaide, try the cold rolls, quail and sizzling steak all fantastic.
We have been going there for years and have never been disappointed, be sure to book ahead and expect a busy restaurant.
Great food. The food is great here. Highly recommend the quail and soft shell crab! A very busy place but we feel this adds to the experience, make sure to book ahead!
Great food! Quail is superb. Rice hot pot is amazing too. Lots of great things to choose. Tasty tasty tasty. Yes the restaurant is busy... But do you want to eat in a place that is empty?? Can't wait to go back again ....!
Although the decor is outdated you won't care once the food comes to the table. Loved everything we ordered from the young coconut juice, the rice hotpot, salt and pepper eggplant and scallops - everything was delicious! Definitely worth a visit or more!
Average. We went here about a year ago and from what I can remember the food was alright, but as a dining experience I do not recommend! As you can tell when you drive past its always very very busy. You cant walk or talk to each other without yelling. We also had the table next to the kitchen door which was annoying and when I asked if they could put a doorstopper to keep the door from swinging constantly, I got a reply of 'NO' and they walked away. Service was also slow. Recommended for take away only!!
Still excellent after 25 years. I have been eating at Vietnam for over 25 years and it is my favourite Adelaide restaurant.
After several years away I booked a table to return.
Having read some of the bad reviews on these pages I was worried that it had dropped standard
I am happy to say that it is still excellent in both food and service
It is a very popular and busy spot so expect hustle and bustle, but the staff were excellent, efficient, attentive and very friendly
It is still my favourite restaurant in Adelaide
Do yourself a favour and judge it for yourself
Made a booking for this evening, had to wait 10minutes until a table became available. Packed restaurant, very popular until late. Service is 'get em in, get em out' but can't fault the food! Amazing pork and beef dishes, definitely go the gourmet fried rice! Little gem in the western suburbs.
A pleasant experience. We went there today's lunch for the first time and it was busy. However, service was nice, staffs were friendly and very helpful. He helped us ordering some of the restaurant's signature dishes and they were yummy! I did read some of the reviews but found the lady behind the counter was polite and friendly. Will definitely be back soon.
Bit out of the way if you don't live in the area but definitely worth the drive. Customer service was flawless! The food was delicious and we particularly enjoyed the DIY cold rolls. The meals were reasonably priced and seriously make a booking this place was packed out. Just shows how far delicious food and great customer service gets you. Definitely recommend!
Not perfect, but we keep coming back. Been here many times over the last 16 years. What they do well is the benchmark for Vietnamese food- BBQ quails, roll your own cold rolls with sugar cane prawns and Pork balls, Claypot rice, sorry can't remember correct name. Anytime I've strayed off the menu, even on the same day as the yummy regular stuff eg seafood salad - bland, seafood noodles - tough squid, I've been disappointed. Going there again with my folks tonight, stick to the signature dishes! Friendly but harried wait staff, always crowded and tables too small, yet my family find fault with the other Vietnamese places we go to, so we'll be back, despite the criticisms.
Despite my vote, I have mixed feelings for this restaurant. Its ALWAYS packed first & foremost and you WILL be rushed. The arrangement of the table tells you abit about how they run the business. Everyone is crammed in & there is barely any room to move. As for the food, I personally enjoy their "entrees", which is all I order. Vietnamese rolls (pork ball or prawn), seafood salad, roasted pigeon & their steamed scallops! Don't really fancy their other mains although they're not too bad. So if you don't mind being cramped and having a rushed meal, have a go at the dishes I've mentioned above.
D.T. Best Vietnamese restaurant in AUSTRALIA.
QUAIL. SEAFOOD SALAD. NOODLE SOUP. RICE PAPER ROLL.
Entre!!!. Best seafood salads, rice paper roll & chargilled quail!!
Food looks and tastes like food in Vietnam. Always excellent.
If you don't like it probably stick to fasta pasta and KFC, it's probably more your scene.
The best of Vietnamese. Went to the Vietnam last year & enjoyed the couple of dishes we shared. The decour is a bit dated & could do with a refresh but the service & staff were polite. We had some pawn cold rolls to start with which were delicious with the dipping sauce. We had a combination soup to share & that was pretty tastey & hot which I like in my meals. For our main we had peppered king prawns and pork hot pot, again very hot & the highlight of our meal, absolutely amazing flavours. I plan on heading back very soon.
Great food, great service. Recommend booking ahead to guarantee a table. The pork skewers or prawn skewers is my favourite dish. The owner came over as a refugee with nothing after the Vietnam War and has worked hard to keep his restaurant one of the best in SA. This family deserves our business not only for this reason but because of their good food and service too.
Superb! Service was personal and particular. Peter took his time (despite having a busy restaurant) to go through the finer details of making a cold roll. Food was fresh and plentiful. The wine list was unusually comprehensive for this style of restaurant. It's a reassuring sign to see the locals coming in, in droves. We would absolutely not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return. Tip for next time - book - we were very lucky to get a table.
A deserved reputation. Went for lunch with my Vietnamese colleague, which is always handy for ordering. Had a great meal but making those cold rolls is harder than it looks! His "expert" opinion is that the style is only slightly westernized traditional Vietnamese cooking and was very happy (he is quite fussy). We all thought that the food and service certainly lived up to the reputation - and good value as well.
Best Quails. The tastiest quails ever... finger licking good.
Great food. Delicious Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. The sugar cane skewered king prawns were the highlight of the meal. Highly recommended.
Tasty special dishes. Whenever we come here, we always order their specialties - quails, cold rolls (prawn skewers or pork) and seafood salad - which are done fresh and very well. We always recommend these dishes to our guests. Their other dishes are otherwise standard Vietnamese/Chinese fare you could find in any Asian restaurants.
The food was yummy especially nam neung! The service was ok. The staff kept giving us the bill pretending to ask if we asked for the bill -_-
Let's get two things out of the way: 1) The Viet food here is GREAT & 2) Do not order from the Chinese side of the menu. As much as it pains me to say this, it is only a little better than what you would get in a food court.
Okay now that we've got that out of the way lets discuss service. Do not go here if you 1) want to leisurely sit and enjoy your meal or 2) have a problem with waiting to be seated. My dinning group of 5 were left to wait outside in the cold and spitting rain for close to 45 minutes before we were shown to a table. Admittedly we were 15 minutes early on our booking but it didn't help that other patrons who had been waiting for less were shown in before us. Once you're seated though, the table service is speedy and attentive. This may seem like a quite a change of manners after your curt waiting experience but I guess this is what you have to accept when you go to a long established and renowned eatery. My suggestion if you are planning on going here is to have one person come early for the wait and tell the rest of your party to come 15-30 minutes later. It appears to be what the regulars do. Alternatively get the earliest booking of the night then you won't have to wait. Unfortunately like some other popular restaurants in Adelaide, the waiting and ambience situation is never going to get any better. Particularly with Asian eateries, they will be too paranoid of affecting the Feng Shui of a place to update it. My party found the food worth the wait, but I understand it may be a deal breaker for others. Particularly the hungry!
Location location location.... I know people rave about this joint as being one of Adelaide's "hidden secrets", and hey, it was alright, but certainly not worth a subtstantial drive for me, into Adelaide's blessed Heroin Heartlands.
The place is PACKED on a weeknight, so fortunately we had booked a week in advance, and I doubt that you could expect to get in without a booking. The make-your-own cold rolls were a lovely bit of gimmiky fun and the manufacturing process was enjoyed by all. As was the eating of same. As for th other meals, definitely have had better quail, soft shell crab and duck elsewhere. Pretty cheap though...we had a mountain of food for $35 per head inc booze. Staff were plesant and helpful, despite being rushed of their feet. I liked it, but there is no return trip envisaged.
My family's favourite. Can't believe my family and I have only discovered this wonderful gem. We love Vietnamese food and have been too many but Vietnam is now our favourite place to eat. The food is just amazing, the kids love going there and the service is great. The menu is overwhelming at first but thank you to the wonderful staff and Manager Ben for looking after us so well. Will be bringing all our friends there so they can try the best Cold rolls, quails and Soft shell crabs in the world. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
Good food always.... Everyone raves on about how great the make-your-own cold rolls are, and yes, it is worth raving on about. If you dine here, it is a must try. Their noodle soups are good and pretty much everything I've tried here is good. It is always busy so make sure you make a booking to avoid disappointment.
Great food always worth the long at times wait. The cold rolls, the soft shell crab and the BBQ quail are awesome!
Went here for the first time last night and had a great meal with the exception of a few tiny things. We ordered 3 mains from the special menu after ordering 2 entrees and asked whether it was too much, and the waitress said she always orders heaps. Little did we know we had ordered a whole deep fried fish, deep fried egg plant and soft shell crab, also deep fried. We just hadn't expected everything to be deep fried or a whole fish to be presented. Although, we did eat most of the food as it tasted great. Finally, the bill was a slight shock, which was probably our fault for not enquiring about the specials prices before ordering. But the specials were considerably more than the regular menu - up to $37, for the fish, and $30 for the crab. All in all, it was a good meal and we're keen to go back and try something that isn't deep fried from the normal menu. The entrees of quail and the prawn cold rolls are knockouts!
Nice food and very good service. My family and I came here last Sunday afternoon and I must say we had a very good time on Father's Day. Food was very nice but what I remember most was the service and a waiter named Daniel. He took a really good care of us from the beginning to the end with a big smile. When the restaurant was busy, he still delivered everything we asked with smile and even talked to us a little bit with a sense of humour. Thank you Vietnam restaurant for giving us a memorable Father's Day and we will definitely come back.
Great. Great food. How eating should be. Love it
I recently went to the Vietnam on a Friday it was very busy and noone was serving our table we were very upset withthe service but one waiter did come to our table and made our night a great one he was polite and he gave great suggestions of what food to order we will definately be returning because of him. If you ever go to the Vietnam ask for peter
We love this place the food is always great well worth the drive if you want the best
Great tasty dishes and quality food but very squishy premises. We ordered one of their awesome banquets. Recommend attending for Sunday lunch as it's less busy. Will go back again for more!
Saturday night fever. This was my first journey to Vietnam on a Saturday night and although my previous visits were faultless I have to say this night the service was terrible. The food was delicious as always but the order it arrived in was altered due to the kitchen running out of some items. Tables that arrived after us were served before us too.
We brought along 2 wines for the 4 of us to consume and it took half an hour for wine glasses to arrive at the table and they did not offer to refrigerate the other wine on a warm evening. The wines glasses were not changed for the second wine and corkage was $15 per bottle which in my view was a little steep in such a situation. We also had to ask for our main course plates to be removed. My advice is DO NOT go on a Saturday night. Needless to say my friends were bitterly disappointed.
Do I need a passport ?. No you don't cause it is right here in Adelaide. We were there at 05:30pm sitting ( one of 2 sittings for the evening ) and had to be out by 07:30pm. No problems , food came out thick and fast. This place is incredible, food delicious.
We had the usual golden standard meal as shown in the pics, only drawback - I think some of the food had MSG cause we came back feeling rather thirsty
Original and the best. Quite simply it's the best vietnamese meal in SA. Go there and order: the quails, roll your own cold rolls with both pork balls and sugarcane prawn, the amazing seafood salad and salt and pepper eggplant. You will walk out already planning your next visit back. For a quick lunch just ask for the wonton soup. Be prepared to be amazed.
Just Fantastic!. We loved it
Yes it's crowded (that's a good sign right?) and the decor is old... get over it! You're here for fantastic Vietnamese food! And you will surely get it.
The real highlight for me was building our own cold rolls. We asked for a lot of advice, and were steered into some delicious directions. Thumbs up from me for the service.
Look forward to a return trip, we were very impressed.
Great!. Gotta agree with Sarah's review below - excellent food, not overly battered or greasy. Wicked meals, worth paying the extra for. Fantastically sweet/caffeinated vietnamese coffee to finish.
Man I Love this place!!! Best Asian food in Adelaide!!! Keep up the good work guys!
Just Incredible. After months of being hassled from friends that I should try this Vietnamese Restaurant down Addison Road, I decided to dine in at the Vietnam tonight, first time I've been here seeing that it is a bit out of the way but let me say it was worth the drive.
They insist I step out of the boundary of normal Asian cuisine and must try their specialties, My girlfriends and I decided to go with make your own cold rolls, bit of getting used to but was very delicious I must say and the quails are absolutely superb. Oh the soft shell crab was a delight with the rice in clay pot but I would of like to taste some sort of traditional desert though.
The service was extremely well considering it was very busy, Most enjoyable night, Will definitely be back soon!!
Pretty Good. Good food & good prices
Packed in like sardines so a bit uncomfortable

Vietnam Restaurant is another one of those places that doesn't need much of an introduction. Arguably one of Adelaide's best Vietnamese establishments, I'm ashamed of myself that it has taken this long to finally post a review to spread the good word. Since having kids, I usually get takeaway and rarely come here for a sit down meal, simply because eating the kind of food you are about to see below requires both hands, full concentration and the slower you are, someone else will surely snag the last meatball or delicious BBQ quails. Seriously, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide, not only because the food is second to none, but it is also amazingly priced for the amount of food you get.
We had stir fried beans with beef slices, slow cooked duck, fish in tamarind, and beancurd in Vietnamese tomato sauce (fave out of the lot!). We also ordered rice for 4, and was given enough rice to probably feed 6. The covered pot in the picture above was what the rice was served in… we were given 2 of those. I thought rice was going to start flowing out of my nose.

The DIY rice paper rolls is a must. Fun to make, delicious to eat. Grilled quails is famous here but I prefer the one from Mabrown in Melbourne. A new thing we tried was the seafood salad, which was awesome!
Wall of awards, accolades and published articles Readers, I can finally say that I have now dined at the super popular and famous ‘Vietnam Restaurant’. The family owned business is a longstanding establishment of Vietnamese food in the western suburbs and has been running for almost 30 years (now that is a mean feat)!
First time visit, recommended by friend but far our house.
Lucky went early and got a table. Very friendly staff and service was great.
Big portions and ended takeaway home. Definitely will go back again.
We had an amazing night, there is a reason this place is busy, amazing staff and amazing food. The menu can be a maze to start with but try a few entree including the Vietnamese parcels. For the mains if it's a hot night sit out the front and enjoy making your own cold rolls. Dont be afriad, if you need they will guide you so you'll be rolling like a pro in no time. Even if you're bad they will still taste amazing with that secret sauce they make. We ordered the quail and for a first time quail person the char and spice was epic. We will be back and we will continue to try the rest of the amazing dishes we saw coming through the restaurant. There should be 6 stars for this place.
A great dining experience. We went for dinner in the evening, recommended to make a reservation in advance. The meal was delicious, traditional Vietnamese, and the service was great!
Excellent service here! They brought us napkins and change hot water bowl before we asked.
Everyone has such good attitude and warm hearts here. They really care about customers.
Food is very authentic and delicious!
A must try in Adelaide!
This place is like an institution has being around for years, they have a wide variety if typical dishes had the quails which were great and as usual so many dishes are ordered they were great too. Advise to go early they get busy and once you order it can takes some time to get to the table.

Authentic Vietnamese food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced. Recommend the Soft Shell Crabs. Make sure you book ahead.
Nice restaurant to experience Vietnamese food. Very friendly staff and good variety of choices for drinks and food. Fresh and tasty food ( except for the oyster which was not very fresh and clean). The best dishes were fried eggplants and the savoury roasted quail which was perfectly cooked and balanced. The desert was very nice as well but of course was more of an Italian than Vietnamese. Nice experience in general. Next time i am planing to try other dishes
This place was incredible , I can’t fault the food or the service . Going to be a regular place to dine at.
Gotta try the cheese burger spring rolls if you go and the make your own cold rolls
