Excellent value food and cooked to perfection (the steak that is) great pub centrally located to hotel where I was staying. Would definitely recommend đ
Have been to The Union for meals a few times now and I haven't been disappointed yet. Service has always been good and food wait times have been fast at best and acceptable at worst.
Most recently had the Wagyu beef and mushroom burger off the specials menu. I have to say I was impressed. Chips were hot, crunchy and perfectly seasoned. Burger pattie was cooked to medium which is just right. Bacon added a nice smokiness. Flavours worked well. No faults.
I'll be back. As long as they keep serving good food.
Dinner by the warm fireplace on a rainy Thursday night...there is nothing better! Well except for eating delicious Atlantic Salmon by the fireplace on a rainy Thursday night. Although a little noisy, this place was super cozy. The salmon, a tad overcooked but delicious all the same, was served with a cauliflower cream, broccolini and a potato & leek rosti. Balanced flavours and served beautifully.
Went for dinner finally last night to the Union Hotel, what a nice pub. It's somewhere you can go that's still nice enough to dress up but isn't as fancy as a fine dining restaurant. I had a really great experience here, I must say when the meals came out both of us were a little concerned we would still be hungry but the food is well made and full of flavour so we were just on full. The pictures you see below are of the Pork Belly, Chicken Roulade, Steamed Orange Sponge & the Apple Spiced Cake. Service is good. Meals and drinks a little pricey but worth it for the ambience and experience. Nice place for a date.
Lovey setting and great food. We ordered the lamb and garlic aioli pizza and beef and cashew stir fry. Both meals were to die for, the pizza was huge (4slices/thin base) and could feed 2 people and the stirfy was loaded with crunchy greens. Only negative is make sure your not sitting next to rear door as it gets cold. We will def be back
Low hopes for this pub but went with friends that chose here before going to a fringe show. Thought it'd just be your regular pub grub. But I was pleasantly surprised! Great options for meat eaters, vegetarians & vegans alike. I'll definitely be back!
Great pub chicken schnitzel. Fresh and large serve. Well presented.
Service pretty quick, although it was relatively quite.
Reasonable value at $21
We came here for lunch and we were really blown by this gem.
I ordered the gnocchi which fresh, delicious and melted in your mouth. Others ordered the chicken schniztel and said it was very tasty. Both meals were a generous serving.
The service was really friendly and the ambience was lovely and inviting. The pub also has happy our between 5 - 7 which was a nice touch.
We would recommend trying this place.

Good news everybody! The Union Hotel serves all pizzas for $6 on Mondays! Pictured here is the Spiced Lamb (pulled spiced lamb, sofrito, caramelised onions, mozzarella, garlic onion and pickled cucumber), with a pint glass for scale. Thin and crispy base, gooey cheese, ample meat and crunchy cucumber - delicious! These pizzas are so epic that some of my grown men friends couldn't finish theirs! I on the other hand always have room for pizza đđ Looking forward to trying the Funghi pizza next!
Best Gastropub in Adelaide. Food always innovative and amazing! Pub has a lively atmosphere and the staff provide casual and friendly service.
Ate here tonight with a few colleagues. The food was surprisingly good. I had slight food envy when my colleague's Union Burger (Wagyu Beef, Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Gruyere Cheese, Tomato, Pickles & Fries) arrived at the table. The burger was huge and bursting with fillings, which included an absolutely thick, juicy looking patty. It didn't help when my Amber Ale Slow Cooked Beef (Glazed Root Vegetables, Baby Gem Cos, Creamy Parsnip Puree with Rosemary & Roasted Garlic Glaze) arrived, oddly completely wrapped in a leaf. The presentation was definitely not the best, but upon poking through the leaf I was very pleasantly surprised by a whole heap of delicious looking, extremely tender beef that pulled apart with the slightest effort. It was an absolute delight, especially when eaten with the sticky, slightly sweet sauce and creamy parsnip puree. The rest of the elements on the plate didn't add much to the dish, though. The glazed root vegetables weren't very exciting.Â
We also ordered a pizza to share. I'm not even sure what pizza it was (it may have been the Rocket Queen), but honestly I didn't enjoy it that much. The crust was fantastic, but the toppings didn't really go well together. The caramelised onions were over done to the point where they became rather mushy and unpleasant.
Overall my meal here was rather enjoyable. I'm especially keen to return to try their burger. The Union has a very lively atmosphere and is a great place for after work drinks or a casual meal with a group of friends. I probably wouldn't sit at the bar though, because the live music was way too loud and made it impossible to have a conversation.
Visit 2:
Returned for another dinner with my colleagues. This time I ordered the Saffron Cous Cous with Chicken Breast ($22), which was unfortunately a let down. The cous cous salad was OK, nothing to shout about, but I really did not enjoy the chicken. It was dry and tasted burnt, which was rather unpleasant. My colleague ordered the Union Burger again, but this time the burger was so much smaller than I remember and looked nowhere near as impressive. Â Not sure what happened. Perhaps they changed chefs?
New favourite place. Unsure of where to eat , my partner and I stumbled across this gem as we got a parking right outside. Â We were unsure of the flavours or dishes available we decided to pick 4-5 random dishes based on description. The three star dishes that remained in my mind were the chicken strips - tender, crispy and juicy, the pork belly - Crackle was excellent with well balanced accompaniments, and the salmon - Generous portion with a selection of perfectly seasoned asian greens . In the past week I have already made a second visit which I recommended to a group of friends and the experience was equally as good as the first.
Waited 45 minutes to get our entree which was a shame. Said entree was very good. Main was also good. Staff were friendly and apologetic for speed of service. Would come back.
Great Value Pizzas with excellent quality toppings, even cheaper some days of the week, go with a group of people so you can try all the toppings out! Nice to sit in the beer garden!
Really liked this place. Ate in the trendy dining area and had the most beautiful main dish of Duck Breast with beetroot, broccoli, polenta and hazelnuts -just divine!! Beautiful food, great service, lovely decor, good wine list and delicious cocktails makes for a wonderful evening indeed! đđ
It's not an easy meal to cook a Lamb Shoulder but they absolutely got it right. A pub with good feeling. Came during the week when it was nice and relaxing.

The Union is one of my favourite city pubs. Close to my work, good value food and a great selection of wine. I think their steaks are fantastic. There are heaps of different burgers to choose from. Their pizza is really good, the mushroom is my favourite. They are roughly $18.00 - $22.00 each but on Monday night they're all $6. Such a bargain. Friday nights are a bit loud so I personally would avoid eating then.
This is my "go to" pub as they always have a great menu, the serves are generous and the quality is good. The staff are consistently good at their job. They have a selection of menu options varying from tapas, to pub fare, pizzas to main meals. Decent atmosphere and comfortable table settings. I booked through Dimmi and it was hassle free.
Great feed, cheap too. Great special of $6 dollar pizzas on a Monday night, tasty and not oily, didn't have to wait long. We sat outside, nice and quiet in central Adelaide.
Cheap pizza. The Union's $6 pizza on Monday nights can't be sneezed at. With decent toppings on offer, a generous size and a range of different pizzas available to order, good value is offered for the price.

Excellent food...slightly pricey for pub meal. Tried the baby salt and pepper squid. Taste wonderful. Dislike the salad that come with it
Great food. They're pizzas are so amazing with great toppings offered on the menu. Their "share" menu is also fantastic as a tapas setting. Service is a bit slow but is to be expected when the place is buzzing. Would definitely recommend this place for casual dining out with some friends!
Oh Adelaide how I love thee!. My partner got the pork schnitzel with cranberry sauce - DELICIOUS! not keen on those skinny fries tho - think it would be better with a thick cut chip or roast potato.
I got the Mexican style salad - very yummy flavour combination! be prepared for lots of corn chips tho - i left half of them aside.
THEY OYSTERS WERE OUTSTANDING i usually buy natural but they sold me on the il'diablo coz im a sucker for chilli - they arent too hot and clearly prepared by a good cook because the oysters were not overcooked so you still got that fresh taste accompanied by an awesome spicy crunch topping!
My Favorite. This is my favorite spot for food.
The food is always amazing, the gnocchi is what i normally get and being a European myself I am usually fussy in the pasta/potato dishes.
I am a regular and do love the food however the staff are usually not very attentive except for a couple whom seem to do all the work (they are lucky the food is fabulous)
For the dessert the Peanut Butter Parfait is the favorite and I hope it never goes, although i do miss the desserts changing on a regular basis as well as the old menu tapas options for $6 and the platter was to die for, don't get me wrong the new menu is really good too, I just wish I could have it all!
We had great foods and great service on two consecutive nights. Don't know what the complainers are about?
The chicken paella is amazing, will definitely be going back for more
Yummy!. Been there about 4 times so far and this place never disappoints. I absolutely love their Roasted Mushroom Gnocchi and i hope they will never remove this item from the menu! The place is often very busy so I always pre-order and make a booking to avoid long waiting times.
I love a good chicken parmigiana and in my opinion this place makes the best parmi in Adelaide! It's also got a really cool vibe and is a nice place to sit down for a meal. Only drawback is that it is popular and can sometimes be hard to get a table.
Nice pub grub. Ate here while on holiday in Adelaide staying at the Rendezvous across the road and quite liked it. Nice premise, the restaurant is well decorated and staff friendly. We shared a tasting plate -- yummy arancini and meatballs, could've used with some feta or something to break up all the meat though. For mains I had the beer battered fish and the other half had chicken parmigiana, both were lovely and the portions were enormous! Only downside to the meal was a shared chocolate brownie for dessert, which was bland and dry. All up 8/10 for a pub meal.
Delicious. Ate today with a large work group. I had the Botanic salad which was divine. Roast veg, baby spinach, roast onion and feta. Would def have again. Everyone else was happy with their meals from pizza to bangers and mash to falafel. All came out quite quickly for a big group.
Good quality city pub. Went here for lunch the other day. Really cool, chilled pub vibe. Had the pub classic, the beef parmy- one of the best parmy's I've had in a while. My mate had the pasta special which also looked great. Heaps of tasty menu options which will get me coming back. Most are pretty reasonably priced as well. If you are looking for a bit more of a classier pub meal in the city you could do a lot worse then go to the Union!
Great service and food. Called to make a booking for the pizzas to have the staff inform us that booking can not be made in the bar area on pizza night. Fair enough, it gets busy and the dining room is saved for the regular diners. Came in early and found a table easily. When we ordered we were told there would be a wait on the pizzas which was understandable, it was very busy. the wait was only 30 minutes and at $6 who cares. money we saved went on drinks (they have white rabbit dark on tap!) and when we were there it was still happy hour. staff were really friendly and chatty. Always a smile when you came to the bar to order and they were very quick to attend to you. The keg ran out at one point and the manager went to change it and then brought the round over to the table. Very good service and food! and very good value for money! We will be back!
TOP FOOD AT A GREAT PRICE. Being my seconds favourite pub in Adelaide Iâve been coming here for many, many years and although the menu changes from time to time the food is always fantastic and the prices are always good. Having now tried all the pizzaâs I recommended them to a large group of friends on a Saturday a few weeks ago and they all agreed the pizzas were delicious. Thereâs also a good selection of beers and ciders on tap and great pizza deals during the week.
Delicious Food!!. I love the food here, I have for at least 6 yrs. The pizza's are amazing have had 3 of them
I've eaten off of their many different menu's over the years & never disappointed, currently Iâm in love with the Bo Peep burger OMG flavours are amazing!!!
I have bought so many friends & work colleges here over the years and everyone has enjoyed the food 100% recommend this place
Best Pub in Adelaide. Been coming here for 6 years... Some of the best pub food in Adelaide always served with a smile. Great atmosphere and amazing pizza specials early week. Love it.
I am impressed! I am here on my own on a Wednesday night as in town on a business trip. Great atmosphere, awesome one man acoustic guitar band and great food (duck pizza... After reading recommendations on us). Would definitely recommend to others.
Beautiful food - I recomend the duck - and friendly service. Meal took a while - but well worth the wait... Another great eating place on Waymouth Street - the new foodie street!!
Good pub food - average service
Great. This is the first time I have been to the Union Hotel and it was great. We had not made a booking but the young waitress found us a table straight away and went out of her way to make us feel very welcome. We had some help with choosing our meals and they were delicious...as was the dessert. A wonderful dining experience...we will be back.
The food here is excellent value, with big, hearty serves while still managing to be innovative with ingrediants. It gets very loud in the evenings due to the adjoining pub, but this pales into insignificance when you enjoy one of the best pub meals in Adelaide for half of what you pay in some other upmarket drinking holes. This has become a regular Friday night edition, and is a great place to start a night out.
There are noisy tables free near the bar, but I've taken my chances outside, in the beer garden. It's quite nice out here. Most people out here are overflow from the main room, but I'm sure I'll have to put up with the occasional cancer stick tonight.
This is the only place in its price range that requires that you order at the bar, and pay in advance.
It's not too noisy here, but noise from pub patrons, and the music, don't make this an ideal place for conversation.
Lighting in here is dark and yellow. Will see how photography goes.
This is a somewhat upmarket pub, full of well-behaved 30-year olds. I weave my way through the numerous bar patrons, to the restaurant at the back.
I need to order at the bar, and find myself a table.
The brownie here is a bit on the sloppy side, and the caramel sauce has a very bitey rum flavour. The banana ice cream has an authentic banana taste, but is icy, and therefore not particularly creamy, which is what a brownie would want.
This dish is a bit confused. The elements are all fairly good , but itâs not clear whatâs a garnish for what. Any the spicy pear slice doesnât really have a home at all. The roasted pecans were a nice nibble, but donât go with anything other than the brownie. I probably shouldâve combined them with the brownie and either the rum caramel sauce or the banana ice cream. Dessert shouldnât require this level of puzzle-solving ability.
