Review Grill'd Rundle St - Adelaide

Showdown Bandit
The best burger house in South Australia. Big shout out to Nick and Tiffany for your wonderful hospitality. Thank you very much. The burgers here are 2nd to none. My first experience & I ordered the Mega Crow burger fries and a Pepsi and was so impressed I had to photograph the evidence to post ..

Delicious Burgers, friendly staff and good ambiance.

3.5 The burgers were really nice, but we reserved a table for 8 and when we got there were only 6 seats. A bit disappointing but it was okay, they fixed the problem. We also ordered a plate of chips to share but honestly there were only enough chips for one, maybe two people. Definitely order more chips than you think, because they don't come with the burger. It was very crowded, clearly popular.

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. The staff was very poorly trained and very unprofessional. There were four staff but none of them was well-trained. They were just chatting nonstop never being aware of customers. The food quality was also really really bad. The hot chips were over fried and one was not even fried (cold) I will never ever go back. 2 months ago, I had a brief though about their service getting worse but now I am 100% sure that dropping money here is worthless: bad service and poor food

Ordered delivery and they forgot the kids meal with drink and sauce, and an extra drink. I then called Grill’d and they didn’t even offer a replacement meal. Not to mention that the chips had no salt on them and were cold. As I have family members who work at different Grill’ds, it is safe to say this is appalling and I will never be returning!

Tl; Dr: 1) Friendly lady wait staff 2) HotBird had low flavour 3) Pomegranate salad pomegranates were not fresh 4) Grill'd chips were great 5) Making the burgers fresh is good but comes with the trade-off where the meals take as long as 40 minutes to make Friendly wait staff (a lady). Unfortunately, the burger called HotBird was not as good as it could be. There was no distant hit of flavour as it may have been assumed when reading the menu. On the other hand, as always, the Grill'd chips had a distinct and delicious flavour. The Pom (Pomegranate) Salad contained pomegranates that seemed not as fresh as other pomegranate dishes I have seen. Fresh meal policy is great, as food is cooked fresh for the customers, but that comes with the trade-off which is a longer wait time for the meals to be prepared. For us, it took around 30 minutes for the meals to be made. Luckily, we were in no rush to get anywhere. For all those reasons, I avoided a 1 star review as there were many positives that counteracted the negative aspects of our experience.

Great burgers and service. My burger was perfect size for lunch and, most importantly, the pattie inside was well cooked, just the right amount of juicy.

As Grilld lovers, we were excited to have it whilst visiting Adelaide. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Only one of our meals came out, they had not put the other order through so the second meal came out after we had finished. No acknowledgment or apology for this. The staff were not very friendly.

Pretty good Burgers. I like the Truffle burger. Nice combination of of flavours. The herbs on those chips were really flavorful. Would go back again

My go-to for burgers in the city, they’re always on point. Sweet potato fries. Service 👌 Happy days. Consistently good, that’s why I keep coming back.

Go up to them was to try “healthier” burgers.
I got the bacon and cheese beef burger , Hot bird Chicken burger and the simply Grilld burger.
All of them were pretty good ! And weren’t as heavy as the other burgers.
Overall loved the ambience and the food !
I don't normally write reviews but last nights experience wasn't enjoyable. I have been to the Grill'd at Marion shopping centre many times with my wife and have enjoyed each visit, but last night i was in town for a mates birthday and decided to eat here. The food was really good but the drinks were not. They came in a bucket already opened and found that the bottle was cool from the ice but the liquid was warm. When i told the staff she spoke to her manager and then advised me that because i had a drink from the bottle that no refund/exchange was to take place. I then had to wait around 20 minutes for the drinks to cool down enough to be somewhat enjoyed which would have been nice while i was eating the food and not well after.

Your standard Grill'd outlet. I wish one didn't have to pay for sauce to go with the chips though. Service is friendly, burgers are decent and chips are yummy. Good for lunch or dinner, but there is only limited seating in this particular place.

Quick burger fix in the city centre, take away or dine in. Plenty of seats, friendly and efficient staffs. A lot of options of meat and buns and snacks such as fries (including zucchini ). Reasonable price for a decent burger.

I've probably eaten at Grill'd over 5 times before writing this review! I can't find anything to fault, their fries are perfectly seasoned and the burgers are definitely filling and it doesn't leave you with a gross feeling after like those super greasy burgers do. My favourite is the vegtality burger!

Fantastic service - friendly staff and short waiting time. Burgers were fresh and soo yummy. Not to forget the chips and that herbed mayo👌.

Nice place, all about burgers with low carb choices. We are on Keto so it was a good choice.
The low carb bun was soaked with tomato juice . Next time I would ask to have it without tomatoes .. had also zucchini and avocado chips. Very crisp but the zucchini was salty and so oily.
I found the Kampuchea ginger and lemon there .. liked !

This is my favourite place to get burgers. Great flavours and somewhat healthy. I would highly recommend the sweet potato chips. The staff are always really bubbly.

Amazing burger and chips! Very cool joint. One grumpy staff member taking orders - so not worth being grumpy to customers - spoils the otherwise amazing mood. Still, highly recommended for the burgers, just don't always expect a friendly face at the ordering counter.

I had been to Grill'd countless times in other cities before, but this was the first time visiting in Adelaide. I ordered a side of sweet potato chips as a snack and was sorely disappointed. They were sad and floppy, terribly burnt and badly sliced. I thought it was just this branch but I recently had them again at another branch and they were just as horrible.

Consistently good burgers and fries! Food is always good and the pricing is pretty generous especially for what you get. There's not that much of a wow actor as it's a franchise so there's not much to say except get the sweet potato fries if you go (they are yum)!

UPDATE: the Sir Truffle burger is AMAZING!

The staff here are always friendly, the sweet potato fries always delicious, the burgers are sensational. Always come back, it's my favourite burger place in town.

I love grill'd. I cannot fault a single item on their menu, their burgers are good, their zucchini fries are to die for with the herby Mayo. I've also tried one of their salads and olives that too! Normally I hate salads, but not at Grill'd.

A burger chain cafe that you can find in two suburbs - Norwood or Rundle st, city. The cafe at city is quite spacious and have an open area style for indoor and outdoor seating. Decorations in the cafe are kept very nice and simple. Wooden tables and chairs with booth gives you the rustic feeling. The best way to enjoy burger - the rustic way.

Services - staffs are very friendly. Can get crowded at times and staffs may attend to a bit slower but in general services are pretty good. Small little details like the cutlery bucket is not refill so most of the tables has no cutleries.

Food - burger portions are huge. Definitely fill my whole stomach and more. Variety of burgers to choose from beef, lamb, chicken and vegetarian. You can also choose your own bun the plain or sesame bun OR the low fat bun. I've order sweet chilli chicken - served with Beetroot, sweet chilli Mayo, chargrilled chicken and salads. The chicken was grill perfectly. There's smokey taste on the chicken and the meat was juicy. Salads compliment well with the chicken. For sides, you can either order chips platter to share which consists of all three different chips available (normal chips, sweet potato and zucchini). There's also a variety of dipping sauce to choose along with an extra of 70cents. I tried the normal chips with herb Mayo, it was pretty good again the serving was a lot for a regular chip but hey I am not complaining if I'm getting more.

Drinks - there's a variety of beers to choose from of a fridge full of soft drinks and juice. Burgers and beers the perfect match in heaven.

Overall, I had an extremely enjoyable time with my gf. Definitely wana be back to try other burgers and certainly the sweet potato chips this time.
This outlet was quite attractive with the Tagline healthy burgers but unfortunately they were not able to deliver much to it in terms of taste. The burgers were not that great. I also tried there zucchini chips which were good. I tried their beef burger which was not that delicious as expected.
Might not be on my list to visit again.

Ah. Grill'd Burger. I wanted to love you. Although you definitely seemed healthier and less greasy, there was a distinct lack of oomph. i.e. FLAVOUR on my plate. Gold star for including calorie count on your menu; this successfully guilted me into order a lower calorific option: "mustard and pickled!" beef burger with snack sized chips. The pattie was juicy, not over cooked, tasty, and positively meaty, but that's where the good news ends. The cheese tasted like stodgy cardboard and the sesame bun was nothing special. The pickles tried to salvage the whole experience, but after eating half my serve of snack chips and half my burger, I was over it. The chips were bland, perhaps I should've ordered a dipping sauce. All in all, it was a very "beige" experience. I felt as though I had sacrificed taste for calories.
Steve
Bland, boring, tasteless.

Couldn't taste the cheese. More cheese and better cheese needed.

Couldn't taste the tomato. Cheap artificially ripened tomatoes with no flavour offer nothing. Why not buy some quality produce from the central markets?

Couldn't taste the sauce or relish either. Sauce needs to pack a punch in terms of flavour, particularly when your base ingredients have no flavour.

The meat pattie was stock standard

Good, fresh burgers with a huge selection that's easy to customise. The Zucchini chips are a nice addition but were a bit bland. Friendly staff.

This place has a good concept. We as adelaidians love a good burger. Nice variety. However chips were too salty. Burger was nice, but could have been better. Love the decor! So much I couldn't wait to see what they did to the bathrooms. Because for me the cleanliness of the toilets makes or breaks a place. They spent all their money on the dining room and none on the bathrooms really outdated. Will return.

Grill'd is a 'healthy' burger chain from Melbourne (I believe) & they have the standard burgers done really quite well.

I always have the chicken burger, which is grilled & juicy. You get the choice of buns and with every purchase you get a 'token' to put into a charity tin, which goes toward a charity at the end of each month.

The service when I went was lovely, friendly & accommodating and the rundle street store has a relaxed but buzzing atmosphere.

Their chips are really lovely- with options for sweet potato, eggplant & regular potato.

Yum!

On a warm Summer's evening, I decided to make my way to Grill'd on EastEnd with my travelling companion. I've always viewed Grill'd as a bit more healthy and fancy than your average burger joint (Excluding 'Fancy Burger' obviously). But today, I consumed more oil than what Salman Khan uses to style his hair. I had the Zen Hen which was a solid choice and his the right proportions of chicken to vegetables. While Zukini chips were delicious, my travelling companion assures me that they are far from healthy. I'd come here again. Atmosphere: 7/10, Food: 7/10, Company: Can I say 11/10?

All was good, it would have been better if they do coffees as well but no big deal :)
Had take away coffee from nearby cafe.
Burgers are good, good sizes. Sweet potato chips are the best!

Let start with the positives. The interior design was really good, it had a modern and fresh feeling to with the artificial grass indoors and the wooden bench type seatings. Though service was not as great as other burger restaurant, they still got the job done effectively.

The burger itself was mediocre. I felt as though it lacked passion that other burger joints had. The chips however, was really good. The herbs and spices which coats the chips are fantastic. Though the burger, the main point of Grill'd, was lacking behind the rest, though I hope my next experience will prove me wrong.

good tasting burgers but nothing too stand out. The chicken quinoa salad is pretty good though and good price too.The sweet potato fries are much better tasting than regular fries so I would strongly suggest them! Wasn't really a fan of the dressing choice though, a garlic aioli would have been nice!

Average, worst sweet potato chips ever. Went here for dinner, was not busy at all. Burgers were okay, but I've had muuuch better just up the road at Fancy Burger for a cheaper price.
Sweet potato chips are hard to do wrong but they came out almost completely black, burnt and soggy. Had to pull the outside off almost every chip to make them edible. I'll never be spending my money here again.

UNIMPRESSED. I usually do mystery shopping work and happened to stop by Grill'd on Rundle street. This is a public review of my experience. I was politely invited in, given a menu, stood and chose what I was ordering. I stopped by at peak lunch hour and waited 10 minutes in line to order my food, during this time I got to notice how the staff were working. I was shocked at the size of the servery compared to how many staff members you have squeezed in there. 1 person putting buns in the toaster, 1 person making all of the chips, 2 people putting the salads on the burgers, 2 people grilling, 1 person putting the burgers on to plates or into takeaway bags and 3 people taking orders. That makes 10 people, in what looks like a 12m x 3m space. I noticed how over crowded it was when a girl was trying to pass chips from one end of the servery to another, the 4 people on the grill and salads meant that she was to either squeeze past them or pass the chips over their heads to the team member who was plating the orders who only retaliated with shouting out chip orders to her, it looked like a stressful environment. I ordered a Crispy Bacon burger a side of chips and an apple juice which was over $20 and was upgraded to the larger size chips without any question. I was seated across from the kitchen and when my burger was made the waitress went straight past my number went outside and then came back and found my number and gave me my burger. Then I was told that I needed to wait for my chips to be ready and brought out to me. I started eating my burger and shortly after my chips came, my burger did not have crispy bacon and little of each ingredient, well presented but lacked that punch of flavour. The chips had sea salt? and herbs on it but the salt chunks were large and too overpowering and crunchy on the chips therefore I had to scrape off the salt so I could eat them. For a 20+ dollar meal the service was fine with my meal coming out quickly (well that you would expect with 10 people handling my food) and quite honestly I didnt mind the chips not coming out the same time either given the pressure put on the girl on the chip station ( It meant my chips were hotter anyway) But with a this price I will not return as I felt the money for value didnt match. I bought a 250ml spring valley juice for $4 and was unimpressed when I was upgraded without question ( was upgraded a chips to share even though I was by myself) sauce is 70c for a tablespoon. The burger was $12 and had about a 12cm diameter bun that had charcoal chicken warm (not crispy) bacon, white lettuce and lacked other ingredients - that to me doesnt deserve $12 or the effort to sympathize over the stressful environment. I'm mostly unimpressed because I thought that it was going to be good.

So quick and tasty. I have eaten here twice in the last week, the bird and Brie burger (chicken,Brie and cranberry sauce) is to die for and I love the taste of the low carb super bun, even though it falls apart easily so maybe not ideal as a burger but it tastes so good I just eat it with a knife and dirk. The staff are quick and friendly and I even had a staff member emma check in to make sure I was enjoying my meal

"Meh" is the word I would use to describe my burger. It was cold and sloppy. Lacked any real flavour.
Chips came with the herb mayo which tasted very odd.
Service was good though.

Overall I was disappointed. So many new burger places in Adelaide, and so many miss the mark.

Wow... what a FLOP!. From the lunch time crowd that had packed in, I thought that I was on a winner! I had the new chilli lover beef burger (not very spicy at all) my 20 month old ate it. My wife had the chicken with avocado and bacon. (description said crispy bacon - she got warm bacon at best).

Over all the 'buns' where small and actually bread rolls, the meat was flavourless the only overpowering flavour I could taste was the dried rosemary which was ladened on the chips. For just over $30 I was very underwhelmed.

Grill'D - you need to pick it up or pack it up.

Officially worst burger ever - I know, big claim but it was bad enough for me to write my first review.

When it comes to Grill’d, there is such a thing as a free meal, especially with the opening of every store. Located on the burger competitive Rundle Street, this is Adelaide’s second store and first one here that is company owned.
