i don't know if it was our party size and/or the business of the restaurant, but our group of 40 had reservations for dinner at 1930 and didn't eat until after 2200. this may be custom for others, but a little shocking for some of us hungry individuals.
the service was good and appetizers as well, so i don't blame them for the delay in receiveing our main meal.
the steak was great and the barramundi was good tasing also.
The mussels were great.. the Spanish tortilla was great. But the T-Bone steak was something else. Juicy, tender, flavoursome - it really did just melt in the mouth. The best steak I’ve ever had.
Staff are wonderful and can’t do enough to help you.
Price wise, it really is good value for the quality you get. Highly recommend.
There’s a reason this place is still going strong after so many years, they do what they’re good at continuously well. Anna went above and beyond to ensure allergy needs were met. Every dish you see here was cooked to perfection. I anihilated my steak, very happy with our experience and previous experiences over the years. Keep up the great work guys!
Monday night dinner at Sosta - first timer.
The atmosphere was lively, ambiance good.
The good: paella was the winner on the table, steaks cooked to everyone's liking. Serafin Cab Sav good wine choice for our food.
The not so good: the service was a little slow.
Would I go again? All good, but nothing too flash. The food industry is competitive and I would likely to try something else.
Great food, service and ambience !
We were a group of five everyone enjoyed their meals, however goat dish "Chivito" took the honours.. just delicious :)
I have always wanted to go to this place and finally decided to spend our 7 year anniversary dinner at this outlet. I was very happy with the server who gave us an option to sit inside or outside even though we did not have a reservation.
Well we took a nice cosy corner inside and we're looking forward to the meal. We ordered 2 glasses of the All saints moscato which was fantastic. Now we had to wait for sometime till we could place our order, I understand the restaurant was busy. So we happen to ask a female server who was passing by if she could take our order and she actually was a bit hesitant in doing so and looked out to her colleague who initially sat us. I'm guessing it was his section. And then she did take the order but her initial approach was a complete put off. We did not let that affect our mood and enjoyed the calamari, sword fish and salad we ordered for.
Few improvements, the calamari needs to be served pipping hot which would add to the experience of eating it. Secondly please have the servers smile a bit more, customers like that.
All in all a good restaurant, meal for 2 costed $117, but worth it.. keep it up. It's a 4 star for me because of the food.
Had dinner at Sosta's on Sunday with the family. Being a Sunday night made parking easier but it still took a few minutes to find one.
I found the decor appealing and the chairs comfortable so the first impressions were good.
The staff from arrival through to departure were nice, they new their product and were very courteous.
To start we shared some dishes, the salt and pepper squid being my favourite. The portion size was quite generous and the squid was tender and tasty. We also had some well made empanadas and an Argentine version of bruschetta which was ok.
For main course Michele had a 600g T bone which was a little rare for her liking but Garnet and myself found it really tender and full of flavour. It came with a version of chips (refer to attached photo) which were small deep fried pieces of potato that were ok.
The rest of us wanted the meat platter but requested to have the quail swapped for other items. None of us can be bothered with quail unless it is deboned. Instead of three plates it was combined onto one (photo attached) platter. It had a beef skewer, pork rib, sausage, chicken piece and a lamb chop. All of which were good but there was nothing special on the platter.
great food, great atmosphere, great service!!! The Paella is probably the best I've tried...second to mine though!!
love the starter platters and the olives and the potatoes!!!! Will come again and again and again!!!

Another go-to of ours of your looking for a yummy Argentinian food especially some meat ! great service and the food never fails to impress! the empanadas are a favorite of ours and so is the paella!
Not the place if you are a vegetarian! Meat galore here - had the calamari to start which had a nice spice kick to it. The eye fillet main also had a wonderful spice rub which gave the dish a great flavour.
Friendly, attentive service on a very busy night. Great slow-cooked goat leg. Big portions - come hungry! Decent selection of Argentine beers/wines. A little pricey, but overall very good. Maybe just lacks a little bit of pizazz.
Worst vegetarian restaurant in the East End. After sampling the Argentine spiced calamari, spiced steak and Argentine spiced potatoes I was starting to sense a theme. Just as well they were seasoned well. The garlic laden veggies were cooked just enough and made for a nice side too. Oh and don't forget to order the cheese entree...it comes spiced!
Very nice across all areas. Service was attentive and well organized. The empanadas for entree were delicious and I would have them again. My wife had the provalone entree and that was also very nice indeed. They were able to accommodate my wife's allergy to garlic and onion with ease. Our mains were also cooked to perfection and if you are HUNGRY, I recommend the mixed grill. Usually i can work my way though a dish like this with ease but the portions of this serve were more than I could handle. I recommend to Gorgonzola sauce for your steak... Delicious!
Nice friendly service and good food. Our waitress pretty well left us alone but came as soon as we looked for her, which was ideal for us. Have been to this restaurant several times and always liked it.
Amongst the top steak restaurants in Adelaide and relatively fairly priced compared to similar Argentinian establishments in Adelaide. Service is good, can be a little slow but usually because its always busy. Need to book in advance.
Service is okay. food are big portions, I mean really big portions, my friend and I cannot finish our main. The swiss brown mushrooms is divine, the best mushroom side i have never had, loved it! and i ordered the lamb main, it is okay nothing too special. Good place to go out as a date.
On the rare occasions we are kid-free, my wife and I always like to enjoy fine cuisine in a classy and relaxed venue. On this occasion we decided on Sosta Argentinian Kitchen, and we were not disappointed!. Sosta brings unique Argentinian flair to Rundle Street, nestled at the east end. We were delighted with the tastefully rustic décor, soft lighting and gregarious wait staff.
Nice steak!. Loved the steak. Ordered the prawn topping, disappointed with the two prawns we got for $12.
Besides being pricey, our meals were spot on!
Had dinner here tonight with a bunch of mates. The food was awesome! Considering how busy they were with the fringe and Clipsal on we didn't wait long for food or drinks. Apart from maybe a few more smiles from the waiters the service was perfect. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Magnificent!. Wandering up and down rundal street confused where to eat! we then found this little gem. Me and my partner are both chefs and loved every part of our experiance from the top quality service to delishes food... and when i say delishes i mean fabulous tasting food! we had the meat platter for 2 which cost $80...but a WELL spent $80.. portion was huge it had quail, pork, chicken, lamb, sausage, beef skewers and we added boudoir (black sausage) our meal was accompanied by a fresh garden salad and delishes puffy and soft side of paprika roasted potatoes. We would like to thank ALL staff for the beautiful service that was provided we will Deffinantly be back! This place is a must to eat at! :D
Pleasantly surprised.. First time diner. I came in with a couple of friends and were the only ones there to begin with. We were greeted and sat by a friendly waiter. Menu was excellent - lots of variety. Pricing is very competitive and the food was delicious. Although it did get quite busy with a steady stream of diners, there's a nice charm and ambiance of Sosta's. Would definitely eat here again!
Unfortunately, the only down side to the evening was that we didn't catch our waitress' name, as she was very nice, helpful (and intriguingly cute).
Best steak in Adelaide. I've been to many steak restaurants and this is the one I keep going back to. The tapas are great but the highlight is always the steak. Always cooked to perfection and best eaten with chimichurri sauce.
We were a large group and ordered a range of tapas and mains. Except for the disappointing paella, the rest of the dishes were a hit. Atmosphere is warm and service excellent. Will definitely go back.
Delicious, value for money, friendly service.
First time dining at Sosta for my girlfriend and I last night. We both walked away very impressed (and very full) Perfectly cooked steak that was befitting of a much higher price tag - considering that you pay equivalent for far lower quality at tacky chains such as Hogs Breath / TGI Friday. Entrees were also very substantial, to our surprise, the pork meatballs were the highlight; 6 large flavour packed pieces with a to-die-for dipping sauce. Service was great, staff happy to have a bit of banter which I always appreciate, the tall guy with glasses and short hair particularly entertaining - 'Don't say sorry to me, say sorry to yourselves'(as he collected our unfinished steaks and we sheepishly apologised). All in all a brilliant experience, will be back for sure!
A great Steak at a very reasonable price. Sick of paying a fortune for a steak and being disappointed? We'll look no further. Sosta has great steak cooked to perfection and an excellent wine list. This is a restaurant that you will want to visit regularly because the food is great and so is the service. The only downside is that I live in Melbourne and I have to wait til I visit Adelaide before I can eat there. Tonite I will try their roast goat. Saw the goat last nite and it looked amazing. I was not disappointed as the T Bone was great. But tonite is a new nite
Got Meat? Yes!. My wife and l were recommended this place because we are both avid carnivores. Didn't disappoint. We Will be back again.
AMAZING!!! The best night o.... AMAZING!!!
The best night out we have had in a long time, from the starter tequila shot to the deliscious tapas and beautiful mains that melt in your mouth!!
Best place in town 100% guarranteed
Mmm lovely steak. Took the new girlfriend here recently and it was a knockout place for a date. Professional and courteous service abounds when you enter. I ordered a lovely steak and the gf got the chicken. The tasty potato side dish they give you is amazing. Will definitely come back.
Superb. A recent work visit to Adelaide saw us hit Sosta for a quick dinner.
For entree we had the prawns and scallops matched with an Argentinian chardonnay. The food was excellent - the crumble scallops we not overcooked and the charcoal grilled prawns spot on. The Bodega Del Desierto Chardonnay starts out all wrong and then rises to the occasion and was a great match for the entrees.
Mains, I'd recommend the straight, simplest 'Bife de Lomo' - it's the best, most uncluttered expression of charcoal grilled fillet steak. It was hands down one of the best streaks I've had for a long, long time. The other steak we went was the 400gm sirlion - good but not as good. We matched that off with the Zolo Reserve Malbec - sensational, fruit driven red and went super well with the steaks.
Great service and nice ambiance - I'd go back for sure.
We love Sosta!. The food is fantastic, the service is great, the prices are a little high, but for what you get I’m happy to pay them.
Always a memorable night out, have been several times – you do have to book though, it’s rare that you can just walk in off the street and get a table – especially Thursday through Sunday.
I’m sure we’ll go back again and again.
They know how to cook.. Been there for lunch and dinner with friends and business associates .We always have the fillet steak (as you would), "Bife Lomo" I usually order mine rare, the others usually medium rare.
Our steaks have always come out perfect, mine being orderd rare I'm usually little worried about it being overcooked/undercooked.It's always spot on not dripping in blood and not dry to taste.Rare and tender and it melts in your mouth.
If you love your steak, try it there, and try it rare.
Only one suggestion, the menus were dirty with stains on them, not a good look. Got to keep up the 1 per centers.
AMAZING!!!!! loved the food and the service incredible. Will defiantly return :)
Fantastic food but poor service. We shared three tapas for entree; fried whitebait, scallops and cabbage rolls. The scallops and the cabbage rolls were beautiful but the whitebait was awful. It wasn't crunchy nor well seasoned so it was kind of like eating a packet of fishing bait. Unfortunately we then waited an hour for our mains to get the taste out of our mouths. Waiters were very slow to top up empty wine glasses. I had the duck which was phenomenal, and my two friends also enjoyed their steaks which looked beautifully cooked. Pricey, but you get a lot of food for your money.
Best steak in Adelaide. Not that I've tried many steaks in Adelaide (never been a huge steak person), the eye fillet steak that Angus and I both ordered were simply delicious in every way. Beautiful flavour, perfectly cooked, even the herb butter to garnish was sensational. Every steak dish also comes with a shared plate of crispy potatoes for everybody at the table - the tasty and crispy potatoes were a fantastic touch! The entrees we had were fantastic as well - HIGHLY recommend the Argentinian meatballs (could eat a whole plate of them!) and the baked scallops - definitely going back!
Went to distance on saturday night, had no booking but the staff were quick and more than happy to find us a table for 3. Service was perfect very attentive staff. I had oysters to share and they were delicious. I then ordered the fillet steak and it was hands down the best steak I've ever had in adelaide! Will be going back for sure.
Service at Sosto was really good.
Tapas was pretty good but my beef was over cooked, chewy and dry for my main. Wine list is average and expensive.
Would I go again? Probably with a big group as it has great atmosphere but food is only average.
Im not a big steak person, but every time I come here I love it. I have the Tbone and a few red wines and I can't fault it. I think it's reasonable price, good quality and good service. I like it.
The best steaks - cooked to perfection & the little crunchy potato nuggets were delish. The atmosphere really buzzes in this busy restaurant but the staff are friendly and the service is speedy.
Awesome Tapas. Would have loved to have tried the steak but as we arrived late at night after a flight we decided to go for tapas instead. The tapas menu is impressive & we couldn't help but over order as we wanted to try every single one. The arrived on a large share plate with the stands out being the quail. Will return to try the steaks when next in town. Impressive wine list with a mix of Australian and Internationals.
Have been there a couple of times and must say the food there is great. The service there was outstanding. The staff were very helpful. Would recommend this place
I have been to sosta now three times in the past couple months. One occasion was for my birthday with my family and we had the banquet. the food was amazing. Very impressed with the amount we recieved. Left full and happy. Service was fantastic. will be back for sure.
I'd never had Argentinian before and my overall impression once the meal was over was that I liked it. Our order started with the sharing of tapas items such as the Scallops (great), Oysters Caliente (great), Quail and potato pancake (not too bad). The mains (Goat, half duck and two types of steak, and the leader prawns) were delicious - perhaps the goat was a little on the dry and boney side though. In saying that, when I order a steak cooked Medium at most places, the meat is not as raw as I had it here. I'm not fussy, so I ate it, but my brother's Medium Rare looked as rare as mine. I try to be positive about all this, but most of the waiters seemed distracted by some unseen source of stress - they rushed around unsettlingly and smiles and eye contact did not come easily from them. Aside from one earnest sort of bloke, the others put a damper on the night - particularly the abrupt young lady. (I hadn't read any reviews before going and I am surprised to see my experience matching those who went before me). Still, despite the cost and unpleasant staff, we liked it overall because the food was good enough to carry the day.
Awesome and full, rolling out the door. Amazing food great service from our waiter Kym, wonderful wine list, two major carnivores failed to finish a wonderful shared plate of meat, "De Carne" is a must try, quail, pork, chicken, lamb, etc etc, an amazing dining experience.

Lovely food... but..... Was originally put back because of the price, however, the serves were amazingly huge! Absolutely delicious food as well!!
...but the service? Hounded! "Is everything ok? Would you like some more wine? Do you need more sauce? How is everything?"
Settle down. Let me get your attention. Everything is ok. Chill!
Best. Quails. Ever.. I am a big fan of chargrilled quails. Sosta would have to offer the best in Adelaide. The marinade they use is something special. I could quite happily go there and just order a big plate of quails with a good wine and eat until a food coma sets in. The half chicken is also one of the best. My advice: steer clear of the seafood dishes and order any poultry or meat dish and you will go home very happy.
The food was delicious, the service was great and overall the night was very enjoyable :) it's definitely a meat-fest, but then would you really go to an Argentinian restaurant expecting any less? The desserts were yummy too, though fitting them in on top if the generous main course serves was a challenge... Definitely recommend this place. Oh, and their 'what's your name? What's your number?' cocktail is worth a try too :)
Fantastic. I visit this establishment regularly and have never been disappointed. Everything from the decor to the wine list is fantastic. Good food at good prices with a great atmosphere sets you up to have a great night out with friends or a romantic evening with your partner. Went with a group and had a banquet and we were positively stuffed by the end. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Steak lovers heaven. Visited Adelaide recently and was invited to this restaurant by work colleagues.
The decor and atmosphere is nice, service was quick and efficient.
The mainly meat oriented menu is reasonably priced and the servings are large. The price for sauce is high and in fact you don't really need it as the meat comes with sufficient flavour and juices.
I would gladly visit this place again. Wish they would open up in Perth and show the locals how to do it.
Friendly service, nice wine choices steak and calamari cooked well , not a long wait for food to arrive.
There are other Argentinian restaurants out there such as Gauchos. However Sosta's in my opinion has a better vibe when dining in with someone special. Under that note I would come here again and again, giving Sosta's a 7 out of 10 stars.
Tonight, Sostas are doing it for themselves.
I'm seated outside. It's a busy Friday night, but it's not too cold a night, and it's fairly civilised out here.
I'm going to try their Tapas tonight. I had a regular main course last time, and eating tapas will give me a better indication of the feed quality here.
Perching outside while they clear out a few yobs and find me a table. Inside now.
CHIVITO (6/10)
Young goat oven baked with garlic, chilli, dried olives and cognac.
Goat is taking a while. Place is very busy for 8:30. Goat arrives 30s after typing that. The nondescript plate of goat contained numerous pieces of meat on the bone, and a sea of mild chilli, onion, and possibly barley. The goat itself didn’t have much of a flavour, and the surrounding chilli garnish didn’t add much more than a slight spiciness. The side serve of potato cubes were like soft chips that tasted like pizza shapes. Were I sitting on my couch, and not full of goat, I probably would’ve eaten them all. The warm vegetable salad was much nicer. I left the potato, but dug out the beet and pumpkin, which were heavily seasoned with rosemary.

I must say I haven't visited Sosta for a while, the last time I dined there was before their huge make over. This restaurant is located on the East End of the busy Rundle Street. I made a booking for dinner this time. There are not a lot of restaurants in Adelaide that will send you a reminder on the day via a sms.
