So lovely to return to this nostalgic pub, now with a combination of modern and rustic decor.
Very good live music.
Staff are very friendly and attentive.
Meals are fabulous......my favourite is the Moroccan Spiced Pearl Cous Cous Salad with smoked almonds.
This is so much more than your average salad...........serving sizes are huge!!
You certainly get value for money......they even offer you a 'take home' container �
They also make the best Sticky Date Pudding.
The only suggestion I would make is to half the portion size of the Belgian Waffles......it would still make a decent size serve and avoid food wastage.
This is my second visit back to The Havelock....we will all definitely make this a regular!! ��
Have visited the 'Havvy' an a number of occasions and on this lunchtime visit with family and dog lived up to expectations, beer always cold and food always delicious and in ample servings. Would recommend the Havvy to anyone looking for a great pub meal a QLD, or to celebrate something more significant. Friendly and helpful staff are an added bonus. A must visit in Adelaide.

You allowed me to have an amazing and relaxed evening with my friends and family, thank you! All staff were friendly and accommodating and my guests loved the newly renovated space and food. Food was great, service was great. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The jug of Pimms Cocktail at the end of the day hit the spot - although it was a lot smaller than we anticipated.

A great night last night upstairs in the Balcony Bar hosting our sons 21st birthday. Thankyou Tessa for making the planning so easy and communicating every step of the way. Thanks Corina & Matt with your help too prepping for the night. And to Kat and all the staff working the function last night your service was fantastic and nothing we asked was too much trouble. You made it a really enjoyable function without the stress. Our guests all said they had a fun , relaxed night with friendly staff and food was fresh and delicious.

Low key, relaxing vibe with a fairly standard pub menu. However the food is not your standard and has more of a homemade touch to it. The beef burger was not on brioche (yay!) with a quality pattie and interesting accompaniments. Finally the chip portion was sensible (the plate was not covered in a mountain of chips). Not from Adelaide, but would be back if I was. Oh, and I love the deco finish.
Pretty happy with the old faithful Havvy. Wasn't too hungry so ordered a "light meal" of smoked salmon bruschetta featuring cucumber, dill, cream cheese, roquette and red onion. I picked off the red onion as I don't personally like it on food but the dish was delish! Finished it all despite not being overly hungry. Friends ordered the salt and pepper squid: big portion, couldn't finish It. Garlic prawns: fantastic but not enough sauce to eat it with the left over rice.
Excellent food for the expected meals at a pub. Great service, wonderful outdoor area. Went with the in laws, ordered big and varied. And they allow dogs.

The General Havelock hotel in Hutt Street, has Club Tropicana upstairs on the balcony, Thursday to Saturday nights. There are a range of cocktails, jugs, beers and nibbles are available.
Not sure why I forgot about the good old Havey! Was beautiful sitting outside in the sun enjoying a delicious lunch. The menu includes a large variety of choices and depending on the day, great special deals are offered. Definitely going back!

Yes summer is just around the corner and The Havelock have had a refurbishment. The balcony bar has been transformed into a tropical garden. Hence the name 'Tropicana', a summer house that is on every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We were invited to the launch of the summer club Tropicana menu.
Good location, average food, clean interior.
Pretty average pub grub. I've been here a number of times and have tried a number of items in this menu. Decent burgers and schnitzels. The burgers are satisfying, tasty fillings and pretty good sized. The Mexican schnitzel topping is pretty tasty but not amazing enough for me to go out of my way to go back.
The interior decor is modern, clean looking and pretty average for a city pub.
Not bad for the usual pub meal & beer fare.
Decent pub food. I went to the havelock on Saturday night with my girlfriend. We ordered a chicken parmi and salt & pepper squid. The food was generously proportioned and tasty. No complaints for what was pub food done well.
Great food, great prices and friendly service. The General Havlock is my local pub, only a few seconds walk from my house. The specials are extremely reasonable, especially the two pints and schnitzels on Thursdays and Saturdays. I've never had any complaints with the food, as it's always been of great quality. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

We regularly dine in in Thursdays for the Parmy and pint deal. Unbeatable value and a decent schnitzel too.
Good pub food. Cheap on special days.. My parents live around the corner so I have been here often. Good pub food, not fancy, what you should expect. Good pub too! Go on specials nights and it is cheap.

Great Winter Pub- Food top notch. Snuck into the Havey for a lunchtime re-fuel with a couple of mates. The place was nice and warm, music pretty chilled. We sat out the back in the Atrium- awesome spot- nice long tables and a good vibe.
I ordered the gnocchi with pesto as I am going through a massive pesto phase- very keen to try everyones take on it. One of my mates got the 'Pie of the Day' and another the Scotch Fillet. Meals came out nice & quick- within 15 mins. I like to take photos of all my food so presentation is big for me. All three meals were plated really nicely- not what i usually expect from a pub. We all tucked in and pretty quickly our mouths were full and our heads were nodding in approval. My mates Scotch fillet was cooked to perfection! I loved my Gnocchi- it was hot and creamy (and filling- I'm a big guy) and I just want some more now thinking about it!
The girls in the bistro were attentive and took real pride in what they were doing- one of the waitresses actually ran us through some of the new items on the menu too. Nice to see some servers passionate.
Anyway- was a really good experience and I will definitely be back. Good job Havey!
Trendy. Very clean, great looking interior. Staff are personable and efficient. My friend and I shared plates of haloumi; roasted potatoes and bruschetta. These were all reasonably priced and yummy. General Havelock is definitely a class above many pubs in town.
Perfect early family dinner. Early Wednesday evening dinner with my four kids aged 7 to 16. They all loved their meals - two beef burgers, a chicken parmi, and fish and chips. I had a beautiful lamb back strap with veggie stack. The serves were huge and delicious as were the desserts. Kids had pancakes with chocolate sauce and ice cream, I had an enormous sticky date pudding. Very reasonable prices too.
ONE OF THE BEST PUBS IN ADELADIE. The Havelock is 5 minutes from home so I’ve eaten here quite a bit. The menu has change quite a lot over the years and I’ve tried just about everything and I’ve never been let down. The food served here would put a lot of pricier restaurants to shame as everything is tasty and of the highest standard. They have a variety of different dishes including the usual pub standards but also cuisines of other nationalities.
Great pub food at a great price, if you want a decent pub meal this is a good choice.
Really nice atmosphere. Schnittys are huge & done really well. Steak special was delicious. Great value if using the Entertainment voucher.
Awesome pub meal. Came here during the week with 2 mates for a counter meal - the chicken schnitzel with the havey topping - MAN it was good! Really well done.
Service was as you'd expect in a pub, but the staff did ask how our meals were and everyone enjoyed theirs.
Will be returning for sure.
At the Havelock for the first time in years, on holiday from Brisbane, and have been blown away by the schnitzel. Light, golden and crispy batter with chunky tomato sauce - salsa like - with a good amount of cheese. The chicken was juicy, and of particular note: real. Freaking delicious, and quite frankly gives the bird to The Earl's big famous schnitzels.
Fantastic meal. Great menu and extensive list of specials. My curry was delicious and the Moroccan cous cous was super tasty.

I would call myself a Havey regular. Never been unhappy with a meal, always a good night. Service slumps a bit on Friday and Saturday nights but i suppose that's what you expect from a busy venue. Eating mid week is always pleasant if you live in the area.
I've found the food and atmosphere very good, and the staff always friendly. It does get busy on some nights, but that's ok. Thumbs up

On the day of the supermoon, we decided to go down Hutt Street for something to eat. There are plenty of restaurants on Hutt Street, but not that many pubs. General Havelock is a classy pub around town. Their newly done up bistro section of the pub makes the restaurant more welcoming.
I attended as part of a private function and liked what I saw there. Attentive bar staff, good quality food, and a nice, clean, light and spacious appearance.

Good honest pub, very good food and friendly service and the prices are really reasonable considering its a pub on hutt street serving the quality of food they serve. Really nice relaxing atmosphere with good selection of local craft beers on tap. Definitely be one of my favourite pubs in adelaide
Great value, awesome staff. Sadly their schnitty has become more soggy these days, and overcooked. Please please bring back the quality you had last year.

Very good! Welcoming & friendly service! Excellent range of food available in their restaurant, kid friendly too! Extensive range of beers on tap plus a good selection of local wines! We went back a second time whilst on hols here! 👍
