Delicious sorbets and almond milk ice-creams (vegan friendly)! So happy to see a place that caters for everyone, including having a stevia sweetened chocolate sorbet which is hands down the best and richest chocolate icecream I have ever had. The peach sorbet even has actual peach in it and was a delight. The almond milk maple walnut icecream was delicious and I think non vegans wouldn't even be able to tell the difference. Can't wait to try any new vegan flavours that pop up ;)
The lady who served us was so so polite and friendly, very welcoming. No EFTPOS minimum and the ice cream was fantastic. I had the oreo, the caramel granola and the choc sorbet. Incredible, so delicious! I hope that there are more vegan options one day (I would kill for a vegan pistachio/fig flavour) but tbh the options they already have are amazing!
Lovely staff, very helpful when I was trying to decide on flavours for a special birthday cake I was ordering for a friend's 50th. Decided on watermelon/green apple/melon sorbet and it was a huge hit.
Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Friendly staff and the ice-cream is to die for!! :)
You need more stars for the review option with this place , because 5 out of 5 just doesnt do it justice.
By far my new fave place in town!
Creme brueley and passionfruit take home tub currently making my Sunday!
Was down at Henley Square tonight and thought i would give the icecream a try.
The Turkish Delight icecream is to die for.
Will definitely be back!
Went down to Stella’s tonight at henley and went to the gelati cart after dinner. Pistachio gelati was really nice and the pear almond one was amazing as well. Next time I will have the pear almond one thanks guys!
No doubt the best gelato in Adelaide. You won't be disappointed. A must visit!!!!
Absolutely delicious gelato, and wonderful, friendly staff
Tried your ice cream at the fringe tonight and it was delicious. I had the Belgian chocolate and pear fig and Gorgonzola which was Devine - will definitely be back for more
The flavours are awesome and so very unique. I love that they use fresh ingredients and not just phoney artificial ones. Customer services is spot on. Over all, they are well deserved of their title internationally.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating of our million questions (and taste tests!). By far the most interesting range of flavours I've ever seen at a gelato store and a perfect addition to Chinatown. The strawberry and avocado sorbet was amazing btw! We'll definitely be back
Best Gelati place in Adl
So many flavours to choose from
Staff are fantastic
Congrats on your award guys♡
Great choice of flavours! Lots of exotic choices. Friendly staff and helpful too. Worth every penny
Peanut Butter Icecream was spectacular. Lots of vegan options. Great to see a company putting some effort into dairy free! Two very industrious thumbs up. Fine family fun. Definitely coming back!
Extensive selection of really good gelato. Also appreciated the generous scoop size. The milkshakes are so and so; way too milky for my taste.
This place has an amazing selection of flavours. It’s hard to choose a flavour or two. I ended up choosing their ‘Pear, Fig, Roasted Walnut & Gorgonzola’ flavour which tied for first place in the Popular Jury Special Mentions category in the prestigious Gelato World Tour. It definitely packs with flavour and you can taste each element. I am looking forward to trying other flavours. #48flavours #gelato
There may be 48 flavours here, but there are more than 48 reasons to grab a cold treat from this awesome Gouger Street dessert parlour! The staff are super willing to let you try the unique flavours on offer and suggest combinations you may not have thought of yourself. There are also interesting flavoured cones including black sesame and matcha. I have tried the black sesame, coconut, taro, peanut butter ice creams. All are great. However, my personal favourite is the Pear, Gorgonzola, Walnut and Fig ice cream flavour. Pray to the weather gods for a hot day then get your tongue around it, pronto!
Friendly staff and such a wide variety of flavours!!! I'd love to come back to try out more! We had taro&coconut, durian and black sesame. The durian was a tad too sweet and the black sesame could be stronger in flavour, but overall, it was really delicious and value for money.
I had been here a few years ago the first time I visited Adelaide. What made me come back is that Durian ice cream. Amazingly delicious. You will appreciate it if you are a durian lover like myself. Will definitely come back for more.
The award-winning 48 Flavours is just a stone’s throw from the Adelaide Central Market, and has some of the best gelati we have tasted anywhere.
A number of the flavours highlight traditional Asian ingredients – such as green tea, yuzu, lychee and durian. We sampled several – they were all excellent, with a special mention for the taro and coconut. But our winning combination was black magic (a super dark chocolate with rum) paired with a velvety smooth blood orange sorbetto.
Friendly service, generous serves, fantastic gelato!
Surely this is the ice-cream parlour of your dreams.
There really are 48 flavours ranging from the basic, like lemon gelato, all the way through to the exotic, like Gorgonzola and fig, with a side detour through Asian flavours like durian or black sesame. All the flavours we tried (did I mention they do free tasting?) were delicious!
For under $10 get yourself a big cup of ice-cream on a hot night and sit out on the street and people watch.
With 48 flavours you could do this once a week for nearly a year and have something different every time.
This ice cream is fantastic. Really interesting flavours - I recently ate the taro and coconut, which was deliciously creamy. The staff have always been friendly, and are very willing to give free tasters if you are having trouble deciding.
Great Gelato/Sorbet/ ice cream with an amazing variety of flavors.
Favorites are Taro and coconut, Hazelnut and Orange, Turkish delight.
Usually very busy on a hot night.
Friendly and quick service.
48 flavours and you get free tastings. The melon sorbet took me back to Italy where I had the best gelato of my life. There are some unique flavours like balsamic strawberry, taro, black sesame, and all the regulars. The chocolate thickshake, which I paid $2 more from a milkshake was not thick enough. Thick shakes should be really hard to suck through a straw the first time you try, and you need to have patience to wait for the icecream to melt a few mins. Oh the anticipation, not here. The staff were excellent, and they seemed like a great team who enjoyed working together, it felt like a family run business.
Tried their award winning Gorgonzola gelato, it was good. For me though a scoop of the toasted coconut and chocolate just makes the perfect summer dessert, like a frozen Bounty Bar!!!
What's there not to like about this place...48 flavours of ice cream to choose from !! I've only had 5 and they all taste delicious.. my fav out of the 5.... Pistachio!
So many flavours to choose from, so thick and creamy and delicious. How can you not find something to like here? Sorbet and gelato on offer in a plethora of flavours. I had the caramelized fig and husband had the pear and almond gelato- so nice! Generous serve size, if it wasn't so hard to park the car I'd be back more often.
Love it! The taro and coconut, black sesame and the frozen yoghurt are my favourites 😊 they also have heaps of different and unique flavours compared to other place in Adelaide.
Best Frozen yogurt in ADL! Not too sour with a little bit milky taste. Staff was friendly and patient! It is located near Central market so you can simply enjoy the first one hour free parking in central market and get a cup of yogurt easily!
It's quite hard to pick up a flavour in 48 different colour ice cream box. Frozen yogurt is also available in there, i think it's little milky but overall is not bad. There are 2 types of taro, original and mixed with coconut. Finally i picked the taro n coconut one, you can taste the refined coconut granules in every bites of it. I was quite surprised that there are 3 flavours of the cone: original, black sesame and green tea. No extra charges are required for them. The green tea one was quite good, coz it's not too sweet and full of green tea sense.
Happened to find this place by chance after having dinner at Star of Siam.
I had the walnut, pear, fig & blue cheese flavour gelato. It is soooo unique and a must try for cheese lovers!
Tonnes of diary free alternatives, and friendly staff who give you generous tastings!
Best ice cream in adelaide its next door to dunkin donuts which is boring, all tastes the same and expensive compared to the quality of 48 flavours.
48 flavours gelato and sorbets! There are lactose-free and sugar-free options, and all gelatos are made in-house. The server was helpful and friendly. I had the durian gelato, which was beautifully luscious and distinctly durian-flavoured. Will definitely be back to try the other 47!
This could possibly be one of my favourite ice cream establishments in Adelaide.
Service is always fantastic, super friendly and they apologise if you have had to wait too long.
Their choice of flavours is just Uber fabulous! I am working my way through all of them, Bahaha!
Black sesame is great, so is Apple Pie, Lychee sorbet and Pomegranate sorbet, I could go on and on and on. I will have to mention though, on a good note, I had the mandarin sorbet last week and my golly goodness, what an amazing taste! A Little trick I have learned from coming here so often, is this! If you do not see the flavour you love, please do not hesitate to ask them if they have it out the back, hiding in iceland speak easy heaven! They usually do! Love it.......
Durian flavour is the best. Highly recommended. The owner is a very nice lady, took her time to chat and answer my questions. I feel welcomed.
Durian and black sesame is awesome ! Taro was a little sweet but I still liked it. I should make an effort to try the rest of their flavours but my favourites are so good I couldn't resist.
Very friendly staff, great variety of flavours. Always like to support a family company over an international chain. Will definitely visit again!
I am a loyal customer of 48 flavour and I often bring my friends to visit the store. It has never failed to impress anyone regardless of their nationality, gender and occupation. Their flavour and taste are very natural and I visit the store at least 5 times a week. The price is also very reasonable, making it difficult for me to resist.
The personal favourite is probably their hazelnut, taro, Oreo, macadamia, greentea and ...... The texture of their gelato is extremely unique and pleasant, especially when it is coupled with their distinguish flavour. Moreover, their icecream is someone not dehydrated at all. But I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a tub of 48 flavour unless they can finish it up within few days, as the quality of the texture degrades rapidly in a domestic refrigerator.
Best ice creamery in Adelaide! Central, great range of flavours with high content (chocolate bits etc) and sorbets too. Service is friendly and prompt. Would recommend for sure!
Many, MANY, flavours to choose from!! Our server was really patient and didn't mind is tasting so many flavours before deciding. There were many interesting flavours to chose from, including fruity sherbets. Finally decided on a creamy Baileys and a deliciously dark chocolate sherbet.
A fabulous little ice cream joint on Gouger! With so many flavours to choose from and the most accommodating staff, who encourage customers to try as many flavours as they want, it's always been a pleasure to come to 48 Flavours. YUM!
Caramelised fig gelato is my favourite. Absolutely smashing combination of flavours. The shop owner is very friendly and will gladly discuss how he combines different flavours to make his finished products.
Great place for a quick cold bite after some greasy food in chinatown! with an extensive range of flavours, hence the name, you will take longer making your choice than eating the ice cream itself. The guy that runs the place is an awesome lad, with top notch friendly service each time, and you can see the passion in his eyes!

I recently spent a long weekend in Adelaide and was amazed to see how many new places have opened on Gouger Street since my last visit. 48 Flavours is one of those. The franchise has grown from Mildura and the Adelaide store is the second outlet. As the name explains, the store offers 48 flavours of icecream/sorbet, including fun flavours like blood orange, black sesame, and limoncello. Whilst not all of the sorbet flavours were on offer when I visited (I would have loved to try the pomegranate or peach flavour), they did have a good selection, including lychee, green apple, mango, lemon, Red Bull and pineapple. I ordered a double scoop in a cup ($5.50) with lychee and my staple favourite, raspberry. The serving size was very generous and there was an even amount of both flavours. The lychee was really refreshing and the more genuine of the two flavours – yes, it was sweet, but the flavour was somehow juicy like a lychee, which I enjoyed. The raspberry flavour was a bit more synthetic – it reminded me more of a Redskin lolly than of fresh raspberry – but was still lovely. Both sorbets had a grainy texture, but I’d go back to try more of their impressive flavour range.
There is a lot of choice at 48 Flavours, so it's the kind of place that requires multiple visits. There's decent serving sizes, and it's not too pricey.
Flavours are great - good variety, friendly staff and long opening hours are convenient for late night creaming. 10/10 would cream again
Decided to put my Asian hat on and got a scoop of matcha and black sesame for $5.50. The matcha was bitter yet slightly sweet but the texture had this graininess to the creamy texture. I’m assuming this is the matcha powder so it’s a good thing that they are using real ingredients but I like my icecream with a smooth consistency. It wasn’t bad and it’s one for the people that like their matcha icecream more savory. The black sesame was creamy and sweet with a lovely black sesame flavour – I liked it :) One of the things that they do a really good job is their iced coffee which is creamy and sweet from the giant scoop of coffee icecream they give. I’m pretty sure we’ve been back here at least 3 times just to get their iced coffee :D Iced Coffee ($5.50) With Movenpick opening up recently all the icecream love I possess have gone to them. Though I have been back to get more iced coffee from 48 flavours – the perfect sweetness for me :) Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Related posts: Koko Black, Adelaide Adelaide Dessert Places
Green tea ice-cream. Must try their green tea ice cream!!
my flavour!! not too sweet and strong matcha flavour!
Delicious!!! Been back a few times already and yet to be disappointed tried several of the flavours & the favourite is still caramelised fig and liquorice isn't that bad either. The flavours are intense and rich. Definitely recommend giving them a try & they are skimpy with the serving sizes which is a nice change for once!!
Great newcomer to Gouger street. 48 different flavours to choose from ... what else does a gal need? For my first visit, I had (or sampled from friends) taro, japanese green tea, green tea, lychee sorbet, mango, hazelnut, guava and plum. They were all pretty delicious! Will return for more!
Flavours are exotic, normal, strange and wonderful. Ranging from pomegranate sorbet, snickers, chocolate and hazelnut, to cherry coconut, ginger sorbet and green tea. There’s literally something for everyone.
