Great choices of available steaks. Loved the lobster tail as an option. Would have liked to see more warm sides options - cream spinach with it. The warm sides a little small and should come with your steak. Overall, great attentive service and not pretentious. They have good wine selections too. Great job and well cooked steak!
Dinner tonight with the family and partner was hanging for a steak and my god this place delivered on steak all were cooked perfectly and juicy and delish! But it really stopped there. We found our waitress to be rude and short with us which always makes for an uncomfortable experience and there wasn’t much attention to ensure everyone had drinks ect.... Food that wasn’t steak wasn’t great, Bearnais was awful and the wine list is pretty average too, a friend with us who had eaten dinner at home was told he couldn’t have a drink without ordering food which I thought was odd...but it was a great steak!
My favourite place to eat in Adelaide! Great atmosphere and service. Beef is cooked to perfection and wines amazing. You've gotta try one of dry age beef cuts - I love the 100 day cote de boeuf. Highly recommended! See you next time.
It was the best steak we've had in Aus but you definitely pay for it. Had the ribs and they were OK but go with the steak, the ribs can be a bit meh. Also, found the steaks definitely on the rarer side of medium-rare.
Came here with my husband on my birthday last weekend. Food was amazing once again esp the steak and the cod entree. It just melt in your mouth. The quinoa salad was really good as well. As my husband loves meat and I love my salad here is the perfect place. I didn’t give 5 star because I was abit disappointed when I found out they took out the salad bar which I came here for. But other than that it’s a nice restaurant with friendly staff!
Beautiful sirloin, cooked perfectly. Side of chips perfectly crunchy as expected. Pear & rocket salad was delicious. Service was polite, fast and caring. Restaurant was modern, fresh and clean... solid night out!
Came here last Saturday to celebrate my 11th anniversary! It was actually a last minute decision to come here as we cancelled on our original reservations. But we’re so glad we came here as it was on our go to list for a while.
We ordered the bread, the duck/prosciutto, & a dozen half and half oysters for starters. Everything was great! bread was hot and fresh along with their salted butter that accompanied the bread, the duck & prosciutto with the combination of beetroot worked really well together and the oysters were fresh and great in their own way.
For mains, we had the 700gms dry aged Cote De Boeuf accompanied by their quinoa salad, sweet potato & the mushrooms as sides. Steak was cooked to perfection medium rare. 🙌🏼 adding their truffle butter & a side of bernaise sauce. Couldn’t fault it! Overall was a great dinner.
Only down fall which I think the restaurant could’ve had on their menu was a range of desserts to end the night with instead of us having to go elsewhere for it! But highly recommend this restaurant regardless!
We had our 1st wedding anniversary there. Aged beef on bone and the Armagnac are just too good to have them. Beef cooked perfectly in medium rare, come with garlic butter. I thought it was good without any sauce because the beef itself has a lightly smoked flavour. The salad was alright though.
I would love to give higher rate but their staff should definitely increase their knowledge about French wine and armagnac. It was too bad to misleading your customer and acted like you knew the other language. Just too embarrassed to talk to one of their staffs when you knew the information given was wrong.
There are steak restaurants and then there is A Hereford Beefstouw. The range of offerings will surely meet the expectations and desires of any diner. The aged meat is so flavoursome and tender you barely needed to look at the sauce on the side! On the last occasion I had the 1.4kg, 45-day aged tomahawk... simply a very pleasurable dining experience. Highly recommended!
Came here with my friend tonight to finish my last dinner in ADL then back to MEL tmr. Staff told me MEL has this restaurant as well and I didn't even know hahahah. I've had Sirloin with truffle butter and salad. I've had three bowls of salad, no wonder why I love veggies🤣Sirloin is so tasty and perfectly medium rare! I love it!!! Much better than Gauchos in CBD.
The aged steak were really good - I recommend to go straight for that! Ribs were just falling off the bone and so flavoursome. Ribs portion was quite small though. Love the house chips as well. Try that with the dipping cheese sauce from the salad bar! Enjoyed the many varieties at the salad bar. You'll get really full after a few bowls of that, but was worth it! Unfortunately the pricing is more to the high end side.. So it's more for an occasional-visit rather than a regular go-to dine-in visit.
The steak and chips were lovely & they have an awesome salad bar. Would definitely come here again sometime soon! The staffs were patient & helpful.
We came here for Father's Day so had a set menu.
The entrees and desserts were shared while you got to choose your own mains.
For the entree, the gravad lax salmon was to die for and the duck and pancetta terrine was delicious. As usual I didn't like the meatballs, but the rest of my table did.
My main of a grass fed fillet absolutely melted in my mouth.
The dessert was my favourite course. The creme brulee was the best I'd ever had and the rest of the desserts, the chocolate tart and raspberry and the warm date pudding were very nice - although I felt that the pudding could have done with more ice cream.
I had hoped that the service would be a bit better than it was. Our table had a sprig of parsley on it when we first sat down and one of us was missing a napkin which was never brought even though we did request one. Our entree platter came out and then we had to request plates. These are only very tiny minor details, but it is the reason why I took off half a point from my overall score.
As expected they know their steak here. All meat was cooked as requested and was tasty and tender. It is worth trying meat off their aged section - intense flavours. Substantial salt and pepper grinders allow you to season to your own taste. Love the theatre of having the larger cuts carved at your table. It is also definitely worth having the Gravad Lax (cured fish) - it was amazing - carved to order and it just melted in your mouth - I would have been happy with a plate of that for dinner. The make your own salad bar offers lots of options.
Love, love, love this place! Steak is beautifully cooked and the 'condiment stand' is amazing. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, great place to bring a group.
Great atmosphere, beautiful selection of fresh produce in the salad bar, vast selection of local and imported alcoholic beverages and great presentation of food.
It is a shame that the food felt very overpriced for what we got. The dry-aged rump steak became quite laborious to eat after a few mouthfuls and I found myself continuously seasoning my meat. I also tried the rib eye and it was more pleasant than the rump. There was more marbling and it was easier to chew. The potato chips although lacking in quantity were absolutely divine! The service was unfortunately lacking - the waitress was very much task oriented rather than customer service oriented.
Overall my experience here was just a little above average however the high end prices would probably deter me from regular visits here.
Great food but service is not quite on par. Not enough staff when it gets busy and even when staff takes a simple order such as getting another water jug, it takes 20mins.
Beautiful atmosphere. Tender flavoursome and top quality steak!
We made a booking on the last minute, got seated outside, on a winter night, with the heaters towards us. It was lovely and quiet. We ordered two steaks, the 400g rump and the 160g eye fillet. Both were cooked exceptionally well. Handcut chips were very crispy and delicious, and also ordered the polenta truffle with mushrooms. 🤤
Service was great too. Sadly it all had to come to an end.. but Would definitely come back again next time we come to Adelaide! Top quality restaurant and food!
It was a very nice dinner at hereford. Good ambience, friendly and nice waiter/ess. My partner and cousin had 45 day dry aged beef 500gr. It was good but not superb I have to say. The steak cooked medium rare, tender and juicy. Served with fresh handcut chips which is we like it. I had 10hr slow cook beef ribs with homemade sauce served with handcut chips as well. To be frankly I don't really like the sauce, it's too sweet for me. I prefer a spicy sauce or bbq sauce..tho the beef was good. It was a massive meat I couldn't finished it so I took away the rest of it. We also had salad bar which is cost us $10/each. We really like the salad, it was great, pretty much good range selections. We might come back and try another menu.
We went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Booking was required especially in the Coker month unless you want the true Nordic feeling sitting out side.
Memorable: Food was very good, they cooked the steak to our liking. House made fries were amazing, same for the red cabbage.
A very nice touch that they have the Armagnac from every year to 1968 or so at a very reasonable price.
Not so memorable: service was good, sometimes a bit slow.
Would I be back? Hell yeah.
We had the lunch special steak. Was flavoursome and had the right seasoning. Poorly run was the reason for the lower score. Whilst the person who serviced was excellent she didn't have someone to help with her and had to look after pretty much all the tables by herself. I had to ask for napkins, water and I didn't get the sauce I ordered. In addition to this, we had to help ourselves to mustards after we had our meals delivered- this could have been mentioned at the time of ordering so we didn't have our food going cold.
Staff were all very pleasant. Entrees were good especially the beetroot dish. The steaks were over-hyped and over-priced for the quality. The 100 day aged beef was not as good as other steak restaurants in Adelaide.
Easily my favorite steakhouse in Adelaide. Been here multiple times, and the dry aged ribeye on the bone is a must. Good place for a few craft beers with the lads too.
Really great steak here! My steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Pink on the insides, it melted in my mouth as I chewed it. Not tender at all. PERFECT.
I drop by this restaurant often for a quick lunch and their slow cooked ribs are reliably top-notch. Have had the wagyu steak but you really have to be starving for this as the portion's huge.
Have learned a lesson from my last visit though to stay away on busy nights when the staff can be a bit harried and not 100% on their game. We were walk-ins so had to get in and out in an hour which is easy for us generally. Got our entrees and there was a slight wait for the mains. Picked the tuna steak and I should have cottoned on earlier that it wasn't right. There was a hot baked potato side, tomato sauce (!) in a tiny bowl, and the tuna steak with grill marks etc on a cold "hotplate." I started eating the tuna from the end closest to the baked potato so it was lukewarm but as I got a third of the way in it was cool. It looks like they pre-cook their fish and reheat on serving but they forgot the second step for me. Yuck. Quickly lost my appetite after that and returned the meal to the kitchen, the second time I've sent back anything to the chef EVER. I'll be having my seafood elsewhere, but I wonder if they do the same thing with their beef?
Great concept, smart looking set up and great variety of steaks and wines.
We never walk out disappointed.
If you live meat this place is a must
Came here as its always been somewhere my partner and I have been meaning to give a go and was throughly impressed! Ordered the wagyu to serve two (it certainly does!!) as you each also get a choice of a side being fries or roast potatoes. Wagyu was beautifully medium rare and carved at your table for convenience and the side of lobster tail is a generous portion.
Also paid a bit extra for unlimited access to the 'garden' and will be doing the same when I return. The salads available in there are literally as good as if you walked into central markets. Well worth it and all tastes amazingly fresh with a great variety of sauces / dressings.
Really get fine dining here with a some what relaxed atmosphere. Staff were also great. Highly recommend as a 'must eat' place in Adelaide for everyone at some point.
This establishment is all about straight forward, no BS food. So, if you are expecting pretty plates, this is a no go zone, but if you like Man V Food plates, your in the right place.
Two of us dined outside on a near perfect day.
We ticked our boxes through the quirky ordering process, which is pretty neat.
Started with the pate, not a good start, the pate was quite grainy and not great. My main was the fillet steak with lobster tail, meat cooked to perfection, tail was a bit dry. I ordered extra butter on my steak as one knob is never enough! Friend had the ribs, which were delicious and what a mound! The salad bar is very good and quite extensive, definitely worth adding it to your meals.
Can be a bit pricey but the ribs are good value. It's a little simple for our tastes, but if you like uber straight up good food, give it a red hot go!
We went last night just my partner and I. Food was amazing! My partner had to sit back after every mouthful, while his eyes glazed over as he was taken to steak heaven! I had the ribs which I didn't even need a knife for it was so tender. Creme brulee for dessert was sensational also! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the waiting time for food, which the staff made up for by giving us a free beer and free entree - win! Will definitely be back!
My wife and I decided to try a new restaurant after my friends had raved about this place..
Whilst sitting down and looking through the wine menu, my food menu decided to find its way to the table candle and catch on fire.. after closely avoiding a disaster....
I enjoyed an excellent meal that was well worth the price tag. The service was excellent and the novelty way of ordering was great.
Thank you for great service and great food.
A good place to get a steak albeit at an elevated price. This is Hutt Street after all. Also contrary to expectations, I actually think this would be an okay place to take a vegetarian. For around $20 they can access what is the most complete salad bar I've ever come across. It's probably easier to justify than the proteins to be honest!
My partner and I were expecting quite a decent meal considering the price was a little above average. But the steaks didn't live up to all its hype. Service was great, atmosphere was good, just the steaks were pretty average though. However, I quite enjoyed the starters (salmon carpaccio and pate).
A catch up dinner with friends was in order for the night and we decided to visit A Hereford Beefstouw at 143 Hutt St, Adelaide. When you walk into this restaurant you feel the Scandanavian ambience with its modern yet classic decor straight away. With the napkins hanging from the side of the table to the wooden table and chairs - you feel comfortable with its casual vibe.
Meat, meat, meat, meat. This place is all about the meat. If you don't like meat, please do not come here.
This place has arguably one of the most unique ordering methods around. You write down your initials on a little paper and the number of your chosen entree and main from the menu, and tick some boxes to choose your chips, salad, butter and how you want your meat done.
Fantastic meat selection aside, this place has an excellent salad bar. I would happily skip the meats to run straight to the salad bar. There is absolutely every element you can imagine at the salad bar - from your basics like tomato, leaves and corn to the absolutely exquisite like craisins and quinoa. Top that up with the house sauce and you've got a meal!
Overall, can get a bit pricey, but the good food makes up for it.
We love a good burger special, almost as much as we love a great burger. We also love going to quality venues, that understand how to simplify yet add flavour to things, provide excellent service and just exude a cool and professional charm. Roll all this up into one tasty package and that’s a whole lot of love going on.
A large group of us dined out on the verandah and it was beautiful. Beautiful location, fun way of ordering and great decor. Staff were lovely right from when I first make the booking over the phone to the end of our evening! All 12 steaks came out together and all were cooked to perfection! The salad bar was great with a vast selection of produce on offer, a little pricey but I would definitely pay for the optional salad bar again :) we have already made our next booking!
This is a difficult review to write. I've been to A Hereford Beefstouw a couple of times. The first time was in July last year for my partner's birthday. The meal was nothing short of delicious. Their salad bar is wonderful; plenty of options, just be careful not to fill yourself up on salad before your meal arrives. We had the Kansas City beef short ribs; the meat fell off the bone and was so full of flavour. Then the dry aged beef rib eye which was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Completing our meal was the dessert tasting platter for two which had an assortment of tasty little treats littered all over a wooden board, they even stuck a little candle in the cake for Tas' birthday. All in all, awesome meal. Oh and their salt and pepper grinders are a thing of beauty. Moving on... We returned to Hereford again a couple of months ago and our experience was very different; the ribs, whilst still tasty, were nowhere near as tender as our first meal. The steaks were good and we decided to add a half lobster for $14. The "lobster" resembled more of a prawn. I've seen yabbies packing more size than what came out on our plate, but what was most disappointing was that it didn't seem cooked properly, it was a tad too translucent for our liking. Hence my dilemma - awesome first experience, ordinary second experience. I would go back again, but there's no way I'd chance my meal with adding any "surf". Stick to the turf.
Came for dinner and was seated outside, a lovely outdoor setting!
The waitress was lovely, patient and provided really good service.
First, the house bread, really nice and the butter came in these little cute metal containers.
We ordered Kilpatrick oysters and chateaubriand, t-bone and hanger steaks.
Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked as medium.
Hanger steak was asked for medium but came out medium rare to rare.
T-bone was asked for medium to well-done and came out medium rare.
Disappointing to have this happen but the waitress was very nice about it and the steak still tasted lovely.
My favourite part of the meal (besides the steak) was the mix your own salad. Head to the salad buffet and grab your bowl and you're ready to go. The options here are amazing! All sorts of vegetables (even some that I had no idea what they were!), nuts, cheese, croutons, dried fruits, mustards and pasta. A really amazing range of options perfect for anyone.
Overall great environment, lovely food and great service!!
We came here for Wednesday night date night, which also happens to be steak night. Being a Wednesday, it was not all that busy, which meant the service should have been quite good. Well, we weren't that lucky. However, the quality of the food made up for that. The pulled pork sliders were absolutely delicious, and my steak was cooked almost perfectly. The build you own salad is an interesting idea, and the house salad dressing is one of the best dressings I have ever tasted. Ok, now to the service. When we were finished our main meal, it was about 20 minutes before they came to clear the table. While we were waiting, we tried to find a dessert menu, so ended up looking it up online. When they finally came to clear the table, we asked for a dessert menu, but that never came. We ended up just going up to the counter for the bill after waiting for a good 15 minutes further. I would be keen to give this place another go though, because the steak was very good.
Came in and dined with my husband and I to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Walked in and greeted by a lady who then sat us at our table. She went through a few things of the ordering process. We filled out a slip stating what we would like to order, how we would like the meat cooked, what butter we would like on the meat, if we wanted the lobster tale etc etc. For entree we decided to order the Kansas City Beef Short Ribs (250g). Was definitely enough for two people to start. The meat was beautiful and tender also cooked to perfection. And for our main we had the Waygu (500g) to share. Well what can I say about that? Was the best waygu I have ever had. We had it cooked medium rare and wow... It was cooked perfectly to our liking. The waitress carved it on our table and I had the chips whilst my husband had the potato with sour cream We both had the lobster tail which was the best decision we made. That was delicious. They have a all you can eat for $8 or so for the salad bar, now that was my favorite. It had a lot to choose from and they had mustards and different types of oils to match. I'm so glad we decided to come here and we are more than likely going to come back to A Hereford. Food and service was excellent and cannot fault anything :)
I love this place! Guaranteed the best steak each time. The salad bar is amazing and service is outstanding. A new favourite recommend to all my family and friends.
A really nice place for dinner. We sat outside on the large tables and our service was quite nice. I liked the DIY ordering system with the menu, and the help urself salad bar that's not ur typical salad bar, there is sooooo much on offer u want 2make sure u don't fill up on that before your main! Steak cooked really nice ( I had 250g fillet) and added the half a lobster which was the right choice!
Dessert platter was deelish even tho we were stuffed, there is Always a 2nd stomach for dessert! 👍😊😊
Good steak, the sides were quite nice and the ambiance was great. Standard prices for a steakhouse.
I was a bit annoyed because they mixed up me and my partners orders so I got the cut I wanted with her level of doneness. I know I could complain but I hate the idea of wasting TWO large cuts of meat like that. If you're paying that much it should be right the first time.
I will probably give it another go though
Amongst the plethora of restaurant choices on Hutt Street lies A Hereford Beefstouw, quite a bit different from the Aussie steak house or fine dining restaurants. A Scandinavian steak house if you will, originating from Denmark in 1971. . The decor inside reminds us of Ikea. Light wood, clean lines, bright, practical and simple with trapeze lights. Wines were proudly on display while the salad bar stood in the middle of the restaurant beckoning you to compile your own creation. Ordering is something I'm familiar with, ticking your choices on the sheet with the pencil tied under the table. Your napkin is also hooked under the table.
I've been to A Hereford Beefstouw on Hutt Street a few times now and I'm a big fan. I love a good steak. It's not the cheapest place to get one, but it's worth it. I've come across people who really dislike the place. They feel that for the price you shouldn't have to fill in your own order sheet and/or get your own salad at the salad bar. For me though, these are aspects that actually add to the experience. It's fun ticking the boxes on your order slip and choosing your own salad ingredients and condiments, and judging by the number of people dining there every time I've been, I'm not the only one that thinks so. The service is friendly and accommodating and there's a few decent wines on the list. You can sit inside or opt for the front verandah.

Love this place, have always enjoyed my meals here. Service is good, steak is consistent and the damn salad bar is amazing!
If you're looking for a good steak, come here for sure. You wont be disappointed.

A Hereford Beefstouw is located on Hutt Street amongst other well known restaurants. It originated from Denmark in the 1970s. The restaurant offers alfresco and also inside dining. The theme of Scandinavian design was carried throughout the restaurant. There was modern art and the simple use of wooden furniture.
Nice Steak, interesting ordering method, enthusiastic waitress. Have been here twice and one of our visiting is on my partner's birthday. And the half lobster tail taste really good and not overpriced. It will be costly in total if you want to find a budget restaurant, but it will be a share if you miss out this restaurant!

Great place! the meat is cooked perfectly and the fries are delcious here too! what I loved most was the buffet style salad bar! Only $9 or so and you can go up as many times! they had a great range including nuts, vegetables, fruits and heaps of tasty dressings! Great rustic/wooden interior too
The steaks were cooked really well, and service was great. However, we were a little disappointed by the lack of variety on the menu. Quite pricey but worth paying for a steak cooked with care.
Has to be the best steak restaurant in Adelaide, hands down. I really liked the steaks - we ordered their special dry aged beef which was yum. Staff were also friendly and polite. Happy customer here.
Best steakhouse in Adelaide. This steak house is described as a high-end restaurant and it did not disappoint. My partner and I dined during their 2-4-1 burger special and the meals we received were such great value. The cheeseburger was one of the best I had ever had and the atmosphere was lovely. We'll definitely be back for another meal.
I hadn’t heard of A Hereford Beefstouw, ever. I feel like I’ve eaten at/heard of a lot of places, but as I’m finding out I have barely skimmed the surface. It makes me really appreciate Adelaide. I just love food, I love that we have so much of it. Facebook showed me the way here, advertising a lunch special - 2 for 1 cheeseburgers. Obviously I was making that happen.
Overall we had a lovely night at this restaurant! I had the sirloin steak and baked potato - the potato could have been a little fluffier but the steak was good perfectly to my liking! My partner ordered the Hanger Steak with French fries and could not fault it at all!!! We decided to get the garden salad option - $18 dollars for two for some salad sides seemed a bit steep! It was 6pm (assuming one of the first seatings of the evening and some of the garden salad we paid for was not the freshest..). And lastly dessert we got the tasting plate for two ( it was okay - mini versions but no stand outs) we had a Mini creme brûlée and when I went to crack the sugar on top - no cracking needed spoon went straight in! Would recommend ordering your own individual dessert - better value! Service was good - nothing special! Total bill for two - $135 dollars!
Amazing service and food!. We visited during the 2 for 1 cheeseburgers and were blown away by the service! We received our burgers within 2 minutes of sitting down when we said we were in a slight rush and they were delicious! Definitely one of the top burgers ever eaten. Thanks A Hereford Beefstouw!
Pleasant. Have wanted to try this restaurant for a while, unfortunately the aticipated wait let down by multiple small imperfections.
different ordering system which could be fun. However the female waiter seemed completely uninterested on showing us how to fill it out. Pen attached to table didnt work so we couldnt fill out the form. Waiter wasnt impressed she had to take our order or replace the pen.
Salmon on menu read 'carved at table' but came out pre sliced and steak was cooked more on the medium then medium rare.
Mustard sauce was delcious and the ribs very tasty. Reasonable pricing.
Staff need to be more tentative. We could have easily left without paying.
Would try again - service just needs a bit of polishing
:) Best steak in a while!. Steak was great! Loved the salad bar too! :D
Steak and service with a difference!. Steak was great! Interesting ordering concept. Loved the salad bar.

A Hereford Beefstouw is another pleasurable dining establishment on Hutt St upholding decades of tradition. This is a great steakhouse of Danish origin and the fact they have established one of their restaurants in Adelaide (only in 4 countries incl Denmark, Greenland and Sweden) is amazing. The story does that the company sources meat from Australia and the natural progression was to establish a restaurant here. A Hereford Beefstouw is certainly a haven for steak lovers. I came here with my brother who recalls one of their Danish restaurants during his stay in Denmark. Grand heritage listed building We often hear about Angas beef but Hereford beef is top notch. Most of the meat served here is top grade Hereford beef from the south east. This is fine dining with excellent product. From paddock to plate. Artistic logo The fit out is quirky with quirky art on the walls, timber tables and funky lighting. The building itself is grand, and heritage listed. It looks amazing all lit up at night. There’s also a compelling outdoor area, with great ambience for lunch. In the middle of the restaurant is a salad area, with most salads involving simple items rather than mixes and complex salads (you put together your own salad). The hero here is definitely the meat. Top grade cuts This is about free range pasture fed cattle. Environmentally sustainable. We give the restaurant a tick for this policy. A big decision is whether to go for the dry or wet aged grass fed (not grain fed) beef. The dry beef is aged (hung from a hook) for 20-40 days under controlled temperature and humidity, enhancing its tenderness. They don’t get the dry ageing in Denmark as the meat has to be vacuum packed for export.
FANTASTIC. A Must Try.. This restaurant is awesome on so many levels. A few friends had good things to say about this place, and with the kids away at the grandparents for the weekend, my wife and I made the most of the opportunity. The place was really busy when we walked in, and so had a good vibe. We were then promptly seated and shown the menu by a lovely waitress . I like my beer and wine, especially my red wine, and was most happy with the selection on offer. But I had come here for the steak, so my review on the place was going to be mostly influenced by the quality of beef I put in my mouth - a great location and friendly staff can only go so far if the meat tasted like an old rubber boot. I was not disappointed with my steak. I had a dry aged rump with fries and it was sensational. Really juicy and tender, cooked as requested and I finished every piece on my plate. We were really happy with our choice of restaurant for a night away from the kids, and look forward to returning again at our next opportunity.
Nice meat and curious salads. It's a bit pricey for what it is,
There is no doubt the meat was high quality...we had a bit of a question about it being a little undercooked (The Medium Rare people thought it was too much on the rare side...and they were right. It's never quite satisfactory to send it back and 'cook it a little bit more'.
If you specialise in beef then it should be spot on!
The salads were curious....you could have them as a main course but they lacked the substance to be Main Course Vegetarian or Vegan food.
Wine was on the expensive side.
This could explain why the place was 5/6 empty...but who knows
Should be better!

An impressive experience, once we got onto the main course.. My partner and I are visiting Adelaide and decided to try A Hereford Beefstouw - glad we did.
Due to some staffing issues, they warned us there was a 45 minute wait - we didn't mind.
The order: Bruschetta and a chorizo plate as appetisers, salad from their salad bar then a 700 gram dry aged cotê de beouf to share.
Bruschetta: Not good. The bread was baked too hard. If you want to do that - bake it until it's like a biscuit - then that's fine but you have to cut it thin. As it was, the bruschetta tested the (impressive) steak knives and then gave us minor mouth lacerations.
Chorizo plate: Not bad. Unsure as to whether they make their own chorizo or just buy it, but it was good stuff - served on a plate with some pesto, some beetroot dip and some tiny bits of crispbread. I'm pretty sure all the other stuff on the plate was just there for looks. Still, the chorizo was good.
Salad: They do an interesting thing here for salad, it's basically a salad buffet where you mix and match. They have a lot of different things to choose from - everything from hazelnuts to pineapple to sultanas. I liked it, because you know when you eat all the good bits out of the salad? Here you can make a salad that is only the good bits!
Cotê de Beouf: Well, hell, this is it. Any mistakes made by A Hereford Beefstouw become irrelevant next to the steak; I'm someone who likes to spend money on food, but I haven't had steak this good ever, anywhere. The fries were not as good as they look, but oh my gosh we loved the steak.
No review of desserts: we just made it through 700 grams of steak, but with no room at all to continue.
As one of the other reviewers said: If you don't want steak, don't go here. Conversely, if you want steak, don't go anywhere else.
Delicious. Love the whole feel of this restaurant, service was great and to top it off the food was just divine. Will definitely be going back again.
For a perfect steak this is the place to go.. Great steaks and good atmosphere, wine list pricey and a bit limited.
What a Find. We came here on a cold winters night, and I'm really glad we stumbled across this restaurant. I loved the vibe of the place, full of light wood, and sleek design, I certainly didn't feel like I was in Adelaide.
The place was pretty busy, but we were happy with the service and the time it took for our meals to come out. Upon the waitresses recommendation, we tried their Gravad Lax Salmon which was outstanding. I can see why this is one of their most popular dishes. We tried a variety of steaks, mine was a monster dry aged ribeye on the bone which was delicious. A fine selection of wines and desserts. We left with full belly's and very satisfied.
I had lunch here for the first time recently. Amazing food, the steaks were cooked to perfection (I had ribeye and my partner had t bone) and the salad bar is awesome (all you can eat). Love the Scandinavian design of everything especially the ordering cards in the menus. The waitress was the perfect blend of helpful and friendly, knowing the right amount of time to chat for.
My only criticism is of the French fries-soggy and not very tasty. I'd order the baked potato next time.
I'll definitely go back!
Best Steak I've Had In A Long Time. Went to Hereford Beefstouw after driving past it a few times, and was really happy with the night. It was a reasonably busy Saturday night, and the place had a good buzz about it. Orders some mini sliders for entree which we were insanely good, and then tucked into a big rib-eye on the bone. Cooked as ordered (medium rare of course!), and had a good selection of salads. Tried some interesting beers (can't remember the names), and a great bottle of Majella Coonawarra Cabernet. All up, thoroughly enjoyable night, and will be back for my next steak fix.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at A Hereford Beefstouw. The food was brilliant, meat well cooked to our choices. Ordering system was easy, staff friendly and knowledgable and the build-your-own salad selection was great too. Can't wait to go again!
Good Food. Been here a few times and we both enjoy the meat and surrounds. Beautiful steak. This restaurant is a bit different in a nice way which makes it stand out. The food is fresh and the service is also good. Would recommend for a steak with an amazing difference. Be back soon
The main menu dishes were average an expensive, had much better steak elsewhere. The one thing that saves this place is the amazing salad bar, I could of kept going back all night.
Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak! Steak!. A perfect 300g Rib Eye served on a searing hot plate. The garlic butter continues to gather flavour as it draws down from the steak towards the best fries this side of potato! A glass of fine Majella "Musician" Coonawarra Cab Shiraz tipped its hat to the dappled sunlight of this beautiful March afternoon. I'm so glad we sat outside! I have previously tried the ridiculously good Wagyu beef burger. Saporo beer on tap.
Amazing steak! - Great new dining concept for Adelaide. Having not found our way past the burger menu on our first visits A Hereford Beefstouw I finally ordered a steak today (250g fillet)... It was quite seriously the best fillet steak I have ever eaten, now I feel an immediate need to make another booking to try one of the bigger "on the bone" dry aged steaks that I didn't quite feel up to today... Ordered rare and it was exactly that, perfect rare tender flavoursome steak.
Our host Ashley was helpful and smiling the whole time as we dragged our feet making decisions between numerous mouthwatering options. What a difference it makes when the owner takes service and front of house attitude seriously!
If you are considering going make sure you make a night of it, the wine list is amazing too so leave the car parked safely at home!
This ones gone straight to the favourites. Beautiful steak. Such a pity we are doing dry March. These guys have a wine list that I would love to have as my cellar list. Next time and there will be one .
The Stray. I agree with the reviewer that expressed surprise that this restaurant is located in Adelaide. It is very un-Adelaide-like in many ways. The ordering system will take some getting used to and the Scandinavian feel is a bit strange on a 40 degree day (although the accents are always pleasant to hear and reflect the increasingly international flavour of the visitors to this city). The range of meat is astounding (if not a bit daunting), so I opted for the safe burger choice, as did my companion. We shared a bottle of wine (mid-range) and walked out about $80 lighter. This seemed pretty good value to me, so I look forward to exploring the menu in a bit more detail over the winter months.
I'm amazed that Hereford Beefstouw would open their establishment in Adelaide rather than our other bigger cities in Oz but I'm terribly glad about it.
Located off Adelaide's renown Hutt Street, the restaurant has a surprisingly small interior but a large alfresco area.
We came here with a party if 6 and had ordered most of their entrees. Their ic tail sliders were especially tasty and their s&p squid were hard I fault. I was also keen to try their grilled octopus but unfortunately they haven't had that for awhile. We also had their oysters which were nothing to shout about and I would probably avoid in the future.
Oh! And of course we have to have a go at their salad bar buffet! They had myriads if different salad ingredients my head hurt to figure out what would go with each other. Accompanying this was an also impressive array of salad dressings.
For mains we had their wagyu cooked medium rare to perfection. It was tasty, tender and left me wanting more. My other party had their aged beef at medium which looked to be overcooked for my liking. Nevertheless, we were left quite pleased with our meals!
We tried their Hereford special which was cream and brandied raisins, delicious but gathered a mix review.
Overall, Hereford Beefstouw is now my favourite steak house in Adelaide!! I will definitely recommend them to any steak lover out there!! :)
Excellent steak but long wait for food. We went here for dinner yesterday - warm service and nice ambience. For entree we had Kilpatrick oysters and gravlax (raw spiced salmon). For steaks, we ordered sirloin and prime aged rump. The down sides of this place were we waited 1.5 hours for the steak (!) and the restaurant was loud. That was disappointing really, but the excellent steak made up for it. Won't mind returning, but not if we are very hungry.
We had dinner here one Friday night and there was a good crowd of people still dining at 10pm. It's different in the way of ordering, you fill out a card with your food choices and the wait staff collect that from you. You also get to help yourself to the salad bar for $8.50 a bowl. We had the Charcuterie for 2, it was meant to be carved at your table but due to the lack of space between tables to accommodate that level of service, it was carved in front of the kitchen bench away from us.The meat was good, seared and crisp on the ouside and beautifully pink on the inside and the bearnaise butter went really well with the meat. My only gripe were the potatoes that accompany the meat, they came out cold and were replaced by a staff without us even asking, but the second round of potatoes were cold again so we left them untouched. For $72 for a 500g steak with baked potatoes, I do expect my potatoes to be cooked and hot. Other than that, the meat made up for it and the service was attentive.
Pretty good. The fillet steaks were divine with the garlic butter and home made chips. We didn't bother paying extra for the salad bar as it didn't look that appealing. The only negative was the pens on our table not working ( you need them to write your order down) maybe lead pencils would be better. Would definitely go back again, the waiting staff were great and very attentive!
The most divine two burgers we ever had. Deterred by its astronomical prices, I never anticipated patronising A Hereford Beefstouw. No burger warrants a $24 price tag in my view.
But Adelaide's buffet restaurants are dismal in standards and even poorer in options. Urbanspoon Adelaide's highest rating buffet seems to be based on instant sauce from a jar, and not a single luxury hotel like a Hilton or Intercontinental offers a buffet lunch.
A Hereford Beefstouw offers a Tuesday lunch special, which allows you learn what a $24 burger is really like but at nearly half the price. Any of the five burgers on offer- cheeseburger, Italian, wagyu, tuna and chicken- which normally range from $18-24 are all offered at a reduce price, large plate of chips inclusive.
One bite into the Italian burger and I was glowing. Likewise for the wagyu. Whenever I'm engrossed in a meal I labour to recreate it at home. But I can't quite decipher from where the flavour of these burgers derives. The mayonaise is most certainly made from scratch, and prosciutto is sliced paper thin and possibly baked for an intense taste. But recreating the various parts to the perfection of these burgers seems too difficult a task for me to try recreating, even with a barbeque grill.
My only complaint could be that the lower bun is too thin to hold the burger, so lifting it is problematic and seems to even disintegrate into the meat, especially if you try eating it with a knife and fork. The taste is so delicious that I don't care.
If money weren't an issue then A Hereford Beefstouw would certainly become a regular jaunt of mine. If I were an owner of this place I'd produce these burgers as fast food at a lower prices to compete with outlets like McDonald's and Burger King, somewhat like Carl's Jnr does. For it's somewhat unfair, even criminal, to reserve these tasty treats only for the rich.
Amazing food but average service. I been to this place many times and I like it! =)
I come for graduation party, for birthday, for romantic dining and many more. Well I must say while the food is amazing while the service is just average.(wont call this place fine dining) The selection of wine is good too I must say or at least those that I like appears in here
Hutt st has a nice view and feel to the place so adding with the store decoration its good atmosphere.
Food and service was fantastic. Loved the salad bar and the range of dressings. Can't wait to return soon.
Flavoursome steak!. I have always wanted to dine in this restaurant since it opened in Adelaide. Finally, I could come with my husband without our daughter to enjoy fine dining last night. It's exactly what I hoped for. The steak was cooked to perfection with awesome flavour. There were more choices than I expected in the all-you-can-eat salad bar with sweets like dried fig and dried dates. It's almost spectacular when you see the waitress cutting the meat right in front of your eyes to show you and check on you whether the meat has been cooked to your liking. Loved the atmosphere. Although we sat outside, we were surrounded with other diners. It's exactly what a well-loved restaurant should be - showed with diners. I am not a big fan of all-you-can eat style. After tonight, it re-confirmed this fact as I was so full that I didn't even need breakfast this morning. No more buffet style dining.
Deserves a spot on any beef lovers must do list.
If its a sunny day, book a table on the verandah overlooking Hutt St.
Novel salad bar with something for everyone plus delicious desserts.
Great kids meals at very reasonable prices too!
Good steaks. Gimmicky ordering system seemed unnecessary, and the salad bar is more than a little bit Sizzler, but the steak was very nicely cooked and after all that's why you'd come here.
Fantastic. The service was prompt and professional. We shared the 700g rib eye which was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying baked potato and fries were delicious. Very happy with the overall meal but I would say don't worry about getting the salad bar. We shared an entree to start and honestly there was no room left for salad! Will definitely eat here again in the future and will recommend to all meat lovers. Vegetarians don't bother though, there is literally nothing on the menu for you here.
Two thumbs up.. Our first time here, and really like it. Decor is really cool, and the ordering system is pretty unique, but ads a nice element to the evening. Girls loved the salad bar, men loved the steaks. Pretty handy wine list too. So all up, couldn't complain about a thing. Worth giving it a try if you haven't been here.
What a great Steak. Had a great Steak well prepared and served with a smile. Must say that we made one of our best friday evening decisions by going the the Hereford Beefstouw in Adelaide. What an excellent service combined with a great meal - the best in a long time.
Can only advice beef eaters to raide to the steak house soon and prove me wrong. They know how to do it.
Sam
First time at Hereford after hearing a lot about it, and we weren't disappointed. We sat outside on a balmy Saturday night, and just loved the atmosphere. Awesome piece of meat (ribeye on bone), that made me planning my next visit. Good choice of beers of tap or by the bottle.
Steak cooked to perfection. Service was great.
Perfect End to a Great Weekend. We went to this restaurant after a weekend at the Clipsal 500. Really fun experience, and amazing steaks. All of us were very happy. Nice touch having beer on tap. We need one of these restaurants in Victoria.
Great restaurant. Wagyu beef was fantastic and the salad bar has everything you could ever want to accompany your steak! Reasonable value, we enjoyed the novelty of ordering your food in their style. Great restaurant.
Melt in Your Mouth Steaks. First time at this restaurant. Have driven past it a number of times and was keen to see what it was like. Absolutely loved it. Went with a mate and we both had a dry aged rib eye steak. It was very tender, and the flavour was really intense. lots of good reds to choose from on the wine list and the staff were friendly. Will definitely return.
Satisfied Diners. My partner an I had the absolute pleasure of dinning here on Friday night, and we were not disappointed.
Can I start by saying that we were accommodated with the best Customer Service by Ashleigh, so that's for that.
We had Entree of Lobster Salad & Scampi Fritti for Entree, Mains of Fillet Steak with Fries & Fillet Steak, 1/2 Lobster Tail with Potato Sour Cream and Chives and Dessert of Danish Caramel Sunday & Creme Brulee.
The entree was exceptionally ample, and full of flavour. I was impressed by the amount of Lobster in the salad, as for the price, I expected less, what a pleasant surprise.
Both of our Steaks were cooked to perfection (Medium Rare) we could have dispensed with the steak knives and used a spoon. They were so tender and absolutely delicious, seasoned to perfection.
Dessert was absolutely divine, what more can I say, the Danish Caramel Sunday had layers of depth and flavour to die for. The creme brulee was made to perfection also, tap tap tap on the top, the sound of the bruleed sugar top cracking, just the way it should do.
Throughout the whole night the service was impeccable, the staff are friendly and on the ball, and happy to have a brief word with you, to ensure everything to your liking.
The timing of Entree, Main and Dessert was spot on, no extended waiting, or feeling rushed.
We will most certainly come back again, this time with friends.
Nice steaks and good wine list. But make sure you have the gravlax salmon - its awesome
Really Good Steaks. Not having been here before, and being a big steak eater, I was excited to give this new steak house a go. I really liked the steaks. I had a chateaubriand and it was perfectly cooked and tender. Had enough room left in me for dessert and it was delicious. All in all, a really good night out.
Lovely Resturant !! Steak is amazing and the setting is stunning. Only complaint is that the dessert menu does not at all match the quality of the main menu. But if you just eat your steak and have dessert else where you won't be dissapointed! A must go to if you love your steak!
Great Steaks. Been here a few times now, and it is consistently good. Steaks are the best I've found in Adelaide, and I'm a particular fan of their dry aged offerings. Agree, it is not cheap, but I'm happy to fork out some of my hard earned for something I know will be delicious. Nice fit-out too and reasonable wine list. Definitely worth a look if you haven't been. You need to try the Gravad Lax Salmon they have for entree. I'm not really a fish fan, but this dish is special.
Good dining experience.. Had a good time here, service and meal were both good. The steaks unfortunately were uncooked, asked for medium but got it rare, although it was ok as we ordered the aged cut of meat which I could tolerate being uncooked. Price wise, I did feel it was a little pricey for just a cut of meat and baked potato, possibly if the salad bar was free of charge?? $10 for salad bar is a little rich.
Overall, I enjoyed A Hereford Beefstouw.
Yum Cha Danish Style!!. Have you ever woken up late on a Sunday morning (possible after a big Sat night!) and felt like something tasty and satisfying to put back into your stomach but have trouble with (a) getting motivated and (b) thinking of something that will nail your cravings??? Well that was me last Sunday and on a whim dragged a couple of my equally unmotivated friends down Hutt Street and stumbled accross a restaurant I had not yet heard about called A Hereford Beefstouw. Firstly, the interior felt so different to anything in Adelaide, its got a great feel but I just want to get to the food we discovered. On their lunch menu they have what they call Smorrebrod - which is "an authentic Danish open rye sandwich". What makes it special is that you get to choose however many toppings you like (but I will warn you, these guys don't skimp on their servings so dont get too greedy!). The options aren't as simple as ham, tomatoe etc, there is spiced rolled pork belly, smoked cheese curd, fried flounder and off the top of my head I cant remember any more. Honestly felt like I really wasnt in australia anymore. So good to have something different and inspiring. And to finish, a great coffee!
Great steak! Lunch menu is great value- very filling and hearty. Steak has been cooked to perfection every time I've been there. Also a non beef option available- but if you were ever to be converted- this is the place!
Great steak. Rreally enjoyed the steak, cooked to perfection. The salad bar was a bit old school (in a bad way) and smacks of all you can eat food barns in the burbs. It is worth going for the steak, the wine list was just right, some good drops by the glass and some interesting bottles.
Friendly staff with a complementary gravad lax refill. Perfectly cooked steak. Next best steakhouse in Adelaide
Beef lover 101. Beef lounge?, yes it is. The wife and i dined there with a couple of our friends the other night. we founf it to be a fun experience, with a little quirkiness about it. the dry aged steaks were a real reminder of what it was like living on the farm as a boy. great flavour and tenderness. the "garden" come salad bar was like picking through a lollie shop, only healthier. loved the idea of not being dictated to by the chef that I'm going to eat his version of a salad and dressing. if it tasted bad then its my fault, cause i made it. Never thought i'd see the day when a t - towel is my napkin, found it cute.
i have read a few of the other reviews and i think that not every time i go to a restaurant i get the perfect night, but on this occasion, the food was great, the beer cold, wine choice excellent and the waiting staff friendly with out a chip on their shoulder. as for filling out a menu card as a postcard, brilliant
open your eyes adelaide as i think Beefstouw is here to stay
Brilliant restaurant. Like most great things, the secret to this restaurants success is the simplicity. Über stylish yet minamilist decor, Great wine list with being excessive, and when it comes to the food.....if you want a damn good steak, that is exactly what you get. No micro-herbs or freeze dried stuff...just super tasty beef, and mine was cooked perfectly (medium rare of course). It's also a nice touch to have a Danish waitress.
Best Steak in Adelaide We dined here just before Christmas, and the restaurant was packed. Even though it was really busy, the service was attentive, but the highlight was the steak. OMG, the 250g fillet was mouth watering, and the best steak I ever had. I saved enough room for dessert and tried the A Hereford Special. You must try this when you go...simply Devine. So, all in all, a fantastic restaurant in a brilliant location. It's a must dining experience for Adelaide. I'll definitely be back!
Fantastic! I have been twice in a month and the quality of steak is awesome as is the service of the staff. It is an inviting restaurant in a great location. I highly recommend the 700g rib eye on the bone between two along with the chips. The salad bar has fetta and olives etc, along with many many sauces. The dessert named 'A Hereford special' is great too!
Highly recommended. Thought the food was fanatstic , we shared a chateubreand, and had a baked potato and a garden salad each and it was more than enough for two, thought the bil was going to be more but it was fine. Staff were very friendly and informative and seemed to love their job and the Danish ones seemed especially proud that the beef was South Australian and they were loving being in Adelaide!
Finally!!. Thank god this restaurant has arrived in Adelaide. The fitout is amazing - very sleek light timber floors, tables and chairs, and some very cool lights. The food is bang on. The menu is chockablock full of all the frsh south aussie produce that I love - I had the freshes coffin bay oysters, and the most flavorsome 500g dry aged cote de boeuf (which is a ribeye). The wine list was loaded with all the usual suspects, and if you cant find a nice wine on the list, then you are hard to please. All in all, our table have a very enjoyable night, and I can't wait to be back.
Went to Hereford tonight and LOVED it. Just reading some of the other reviews, and I don't get some people. Sure, the ordering is different, but I loved it. The salad bar? Well, if sizzler had a salad bar that looks anything remotely like that I'll go jump off a bridge. Steaks were perfectly cooked and so tender, and the wine list was brilliant. Did we enjoy it? Yes. Will we be back? Absolutely.
Fabulous!. Gorgeous building and very tasteful Scandinavian inspired interior. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff (all the way from Denmark to get the place off on the right footing). We shared the Chateaubriand - beautiful! Good wine selection though would be nice to have more options by the glass.
Sure a few quirky things.... you fill out a little card with your order but this is a bit of fun and unless changes have been made to the system since the older reviewers visited your initials are not "shouted out" for you to run and collect, your order is brought to your table and the waiter simply checks he/she is giving the right person the right order (critical with steak!). Get over it Adelaidians - embrace something new and quirky!!! Open your minds! The salad bar? Not my thing either but it's well presented and certainly not offensive and fits in perfectly with the restaurants goal of being a casual dining experience with top quality food.
A big thumbs up from us. We have already booked in our next visit!
A 'must try'. Not usually one to write reviews but have been several times and the food is fantastic. The steaks are the best I've had in Adelaide and they are served in a way that let's the meat speak for itself. I love the Danish authenticity- it's great to see a restauranteur introducing something different to the Adelaide restaurant scene. Top produce, great wine list and a beautiful setting. Certainly not just another steak place.
Great "All-rounder". I took my entire family (including inlaws!) and every single person at the table left completely satisfied. Whilst I (and most of the boys) gorged ourselves on dry aged beef, there were options for everyone. The baked potato option is a must! You have to see "The Garden" - its fabulously retro and a great focal point with so much to choose from. I rebooked on my way out the door.
It’s not every day you can go for a short drive and end up in Denmark, but a trip to A Hereford Beefstouw is as close as you can get. A steak house that was established over 40 years ago in Denmark, the restaurant has been situated in a gorgeous Bluestone building on Hutt Street since 2011 after setting up a sustainable cattle farm in South Australia with local farmers. This ensures the highest quality meat is used in the restaurant which is obvious once you start enjoying your steak. There is an undeniably Scandinavian theme within the restored building. The dining room is a beautiful homage to the heritage of A Hereford Beefstouw with hand crafted wooden tables, chairs, knives and even light fittings. A great attention to detail has gone into both the design of the restaurant and the quality of the produce. The menu is simple; inherently focused on steak in various cuts with an accompanying baked potato or fries and your choice of three delicious butters. We shared a fillet steak so
This place really only does steaks. If you want something else, don't go here. Conversely, if you like steak, you probably shouldn't go anywhere else.
I fill out the little card, and send it off, to turn into a meal.
So far, this has been the best place I’ve been to and ordered a steak. This place only does steaks, so if it wasn’t good, no one would be here. It’s also somewhat fancy for a steakhouse.
Steak was soft and juicy, and once I located its low-lying sauce, perfectly salty. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of steaks, but this is probably one of the best steaks I’ve had. The potato tasted much creamier and smoother than a regular potato, but was actually just a well-cooked potato. The salad bar items, including the house dressing were better than your usual salad bar fare.

A Hereford Beefstouw is a high class restaurant in Hutt St that delights with all things meat, including its burgers and sliders. The burgers feature for lunch but also come here in the evening for your premium steak fix - the heritage building looks resplendent with a large balcony. You're struck by the Scandinavian fit out - modern and attractive use of timber, and chic minamalist glory. These sliders sing with brioche bun, wagyu patty, excellent pickles, cheese and lettuce, not to mention mushrooms and a killer truffle majo. Or go the pulled pork.
It’s cheapo Tuesdays at A Hereford Beefstouw on Hutt Street! A great lunch deal of $12 for any burger with fries from their burger menu, prices range from $18 to $24. Look at the mountain of fries! I suspect they were twice fried.. I could be wrong, but it didn’t matter cause they were soooooo good – yet so bad for my thighs. I couldn’t resist and chowed them all down along with the wagyu burger. Oh my goodness, 180g of freshly minced Wagyu topside with caramelised thyme onion, pickled mushroom and truffle mayonnaise… it was as good as it looked. They were also very generous with the cheese (look at it melted all over the pattie!) and truffle mayonnaise… there were lotssssssssss of it – maybe a bit too much but no complaints here. A delightful yet slightly rich burger; the pickled mushrooms were splendid and the lettuce was a very welcomed addition, another leaf or two would’ve added some extra crunch and freshness.
Nice ambiance with indoor and verandah seatings. Sourdough was really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Good bread. 2 racks of ribs were marinated in bbq sauce and the meat just falls off the bone. Tastes so good. T Bone was cooked medium rare and so tender, it melts in your mouth. Went really well with the blue cheese sauce. Mushroom sauce was also really delicious, wish I had more. Housemade fries were crispy enough. And greens paired well with all the meats. Toasted almonds were crunchy. Pricey for the size served but they all tasted good.
Visited with a group of 8 on a weekend and the place was packed. Good thing we made a booking!
I tried my mate’s 100 day steak and it was heaps good. Mine on the other hand, was just a little harder to chew and had quite abit of fats.
Definitely recommend a visit here if you are after steak.
Had the steak here ages ago and the experience was great. Had it recently to celebrate our anniversary but the quality seems to degrade.
With windy and cold weather one expect heater to be put out but the team was ignorant. Indoor dining was said to be full for our party of 12 but til we finish eating , the place was still half empty. Maybe due to covid restriction?
