Review Belgian Beer Cafe - Adelaide

Lets Eat,Stay & Play
Didn't even know this place existed. Nice fine, massive selection of beer. Service was good. Food good. Squid salad was on the pricey side at $27. Overall enjoyable outing
Super Kiwi
So close to that 5 star rating. I'll come back and hopefully be forced to change it haha Walked in and first impression was wow its beautiful, large fridge with unknown drinks in them, plenty of seating, good music. When I walked in there, I became the 2nd person in queue, and I was in that queue for maybe 5 mins. That wasn't a problem (nothing was REALLY a problem) but when I eventually ordered, I said I would love some food and drink, so I ordered my food and then the server went away, and I stood there waiting to order my drinks. Anyway about 5 mins later I was re-served and they apologized. But the GOOD POINTS the cherry beer! It's awesome! Give it a go! If you dont like it I bet you the person next to you does! Smallish menu but something for everyone and I picked some brilliant food! The squid and pork belly was so well cooked, crunchy, sticky and tasty! I made such a mess and it was so worth it. Absolutely amazing prices too! My Wife and I left here after ordering an appetiser, 2 mains, 2 drinks for under $90 and we left so satisfied. Thank you for such a chilled out evening!

Great atmosphere and the food was phenomenal! For a table of ten people, all good came out in good timing and each dish looked absolutely delicious. Really decently priced, too! The beer was delicious, couldn't go there and not try something from the extensive selection. Will be back for sure!

Disappointing to be honest. No make your own salad options anymore like Sydney offers! ( Food cooked in bad quality, left with a bad stomach for 2 days. Wasn't that clean either & staff didn't feel like they wanted to be there. Not visiting again.

I've been here multiple times and always a brilliant place to go. Amazing beet selection, and the spirits & cocktails are great too. Love their gin selection. If you're going to eat here their menu is amazing too! Had the steak here once & it was cooked to perfection. Really friendly staff and a good set up of places to sit and enjoy your selection of drink and food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

One of my favs Beer cafe in Adelaide CBD. Nice vibe and atmosphere around. Always a great feeling going to this cafe. Totally, enjoy this place!

I have been visiting Belgian Beer Cafe for a while and for a while, and it is great. Their beers are the highlight that's for sure, especially their cherry beer as it is so delicious but you really cannot have a whole big pint of it. It can get over the top so I would suggest start of their smallest serve and see what you think. The venue itself is great and has pretty crowd and vibe to it. It is always busy so make sure you either get a reservation or get their early. While I have had their food, it is not too bad just like your typical pub food.

An authentic Belgian bar in Adelaide's east end serving a wonderful selection of Belgian brews. This is one place to add to the itinerary when in Adelaide!

Great service, atmosphere and the best beers! Had a surprise birthday dinner in the restaurant for my partner with friends and everyone had a great time, in fact we were in the restaurant for over 4 hours! All of the staff in particular the two waitresses who looked after us on the night were awesome and very accommodating. Great food and the best cherry beer. Would recommend this place to everyone.
Mark Collins
Booked a table that they hadn't put aside so had to wait, and then drag a table to connect to another one ourselves so everyone could be seated. Food was below par after an hour wait. For a beer cafe they had no pale ale and a very select range so most of our party has soft drink instead. Waitresses were extremely rude giving us tone with remarks like "I can't carry everything at once" & "I can't answer your question, I have other things to do" (question was: what dish is this? As was unsure who's was who's) Will never return!

I love this place the food and atmosphere is really good. I have a Dutch background and love trying to translate the flemish. Staff are always friendly and food is great and the beer is real good. Not expensive either

Absolutely awesome place.. Atmosphere is great and the beers are mint.. Highly recommend this place

We had a beautiful tra my partner had the 1kg of mussels and I had the pot pie both were very filling no room for dessert but came away very satisfied

The pork belly was dry, worst I’ve had . The onion rings and fries were underwhelming. Overpriced meal. The beer was good though.

This place is cool just to enjoy a good outing w some friends n drinks. I also like how they set up the place it feels very welcoming, theres also good food there that isnt at any random place
Heather Hill
Delicious food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend to friends

This place honestly needs to limit the excessively loud live music. People cant hear themselves think, let alone talk. Way way too loud tonight. I need a panadol.
Samantha Morgan
Actually had amazing service- had a drink spilt on me but it was handled better than anywhere else I’ve been and had issues- over the moon with the staff there 👏
Amy Hamlyn
Incredible food and service last night (that pork belly ... drool)! If someone could organise a Cherry beer tap in my kitchen, that would be great!
Karen Schulze
The staff are extremely attentive and very professional, the food is amazing and the atmosphere wonderful. One of my favourite places 😀

Came to the BBCO for some mussels with the family on a Saturday afternoon. Really nice, casual feel to the place, but were not greeted with the cheerful, jolly welcome I would expect in such welcoming furnishings. The mussels were pretty good, but the other meals were a little underwhelming, although the $12 fish & chips & salt & pepper squid weren’t bad value. The pork belly was definitely not cooked fresh and had a bit of a freezer burn taste to it. I would come back for the mussels and to try some of the other items on the menu. Service was also a little slow & inattentive, but that may have been because we were not sitting in the restaurant area?

excellent place to chill with friends on a sat night. some good Belgian beers and best part being half price on beers. sad part being no food at 9:30 when we reached the place<br/>
Foodie Paradise
This is probably one of my favourite spots to go and grab a beer and I definitely go the hoegaarden when I’m there. They also served pretty nice food, oh and did I mention half price mussels on Monday? So yes, definitely worth coming by!
Alan Tse
Nice environment especially on a warm spring day - apart from the wattle falling all over our stuff! Good range of beers but the set a bad first impression by not updating the specials board. They’ve recently gone to half price long necks all the time with an app, but the board still said Saturday half price long necks (actually big bottles).<br/><br/>Staff were friendly and helpful, but upsold sparkling mineral water in a bottle only to not realise that most of their stock was still water in a very similar bottle. We had to take it back, and they almost couldn’t find a bottle of sparkling water.<br/><br/>Onto the food. The $12 lunches are good value. The calamari was nice, but we asked for the Parma without gravy but as you can see it still came with it. The mussels and fries were excellent. <br/><br/>Overall a good setting but were let down by a few issues.

Gotta admit...Belgian Beer Cafe dishes up some pretty good feed for the price you pay! I can't really explain what it's like to eat here, except maybe for the fact that it really does make you feel like you're in Belgium for a second? The food has been nothing but consistently...
Aunty Ol
Unfortunately very average staff who were all consistently slow with service. We watched our dinner for 10 minutes under the heat lamps. Also had to get a correction to the bill. The food was average. Can't imagine we'll be back.
Food 2 Run
A great spot to sit back and have a few beers - food - service and staff super. One of the better spots in the cbd to have a drink and relax at...
Suraksha Mattoo
Hidden jewel at Rundle street. Superb ambience with good music <br/>High point: the pouring tradition and endless beer options to choose from.<br/><br/>A miss: No cocktails - but not a deal breaker
Always Hungry
I love the vibe of this place, it’s great for Friday night catch ups. It’s pretty loud on the weekends so I wouldn’t recommend coming for a date. Food was average however, I will come again and try something different. Good beer and wine selection.
Andries Van Wyk
Great atmosphere! And in a great little street..... Very friendly staff and GREAT beer and cider... 🌟🍺🍻🍻🍺<br/>Calm and quiet in the city of Adelaide.

If u work on Rundle St - best place to go on a Friday evening after work ! Great beers , good service and best chips ever! Also if your hungry try the mussles in a pot... Yummmmmmmm

Went to the Belgian Beer Cafe with mates tonight. Got the stuffed potato and beer tasting tray. Loved both of them. The food was delicious and the tray was great too! Would recommend!

As you would expect, a great range of beers available here. The menu has enough on it to be interesting. The pork rilette didn't come out as expected (potted), it was already spread on bread. Still tasty. The chicken meatballs were good. My pork belly was tender, but the crackling wasn't quite crispy enough. The retro crumbed lamb cutlets were cooked well.
Lisa Tran
We really enjoyed experience, the mussels were nice and plumped full of flavour. Served with a cone of crispy chips and a house made mayonnaise dipping sauce made it very filling. The best part was dine in on a Monday the mussels are half price. Highly recommended this place for your mussel dishes.
Richard Markus
Muscles galore. Not sure you could find better value muscle anywhere else in Australia. At $30 a pot for plump, juicy muscles it’s already a bargain but Monday nights for $15 it unbelievably good and it’s not just the muscle, each of the broths are full of flavor, we tried 3 variants last night and no matter what you pick you can’t go wrong. Beer selection is also great and the only place in Adelaide I can still find Belle-Vue Kriek. If you feel like escaping Adelaide for a couple of hours check out the BBCO, the interior is so beautifully decorated I feel like I’m in Belgium.

Came here for dindins 2nite and was a tasty treat indeed. Had the beer and burger of the month deal for $20 and did not disappoint. Was a southern style shredded beef burger with slaw, pickles & chipotle mayo on a brioche bun accompanied with a Stella Artois and the beef was deelish!! <br/>The girls had a steak and the Oost dog and with my meal, their meals & drinks plus the entertainment discount came to just over $50 wat a bargain!! <br/>Service was lovely and atmosphere was good (being fringe time too so was quite busy) but was a nice experience indeed especially considering the last few times have been pretty hit and miss on food so 2nite was a great treat. 👍😊

We showed up for a late dinner after a movie without a booking, when the local area was totally clogged with punters for the Fringe & they were able to find us a table. <br/>We started with chips with mayo because everything is better with mayo. <br/>I had a Framboise (raspberry) beer which is the perfect beer for someone who doesn't like it too bitter. Previously we have had the pot of mussels (fab), so this time we ordered sliders - I had 2 x pulled pork which was moist with delish slaw & pickle, while he had the 2 x wagyu beef which he enjoyed. I was very tempted by the moule slider though. <br/>Both were served with chips which wasn't mentioned on the menu. So we had an overload of chips & asked for more mayo plus tomato sauce which the waitress happily brought us. <br/>My blister had the spiced chicken burger and said it was good too. <br/>The service was attentive & cheerful even though it was hell-busy. Too full for dessert (darn those chips).
The Munchkin
Drinks were good. Friendly service. Cozy pub feeling. But was not impressed with the food. Ordered the fish which was basically fish in quite a soggy and oily batter. The chips were quite the same as well. My friend had the pasta and the sauce was quite delicious but the pasta itself was not cooked al dente.

Don't go to this place, we went to the toilet and our beers got taken from our tables as they were for 3 min unattended. They were more than half full. When we asked the manager he was rude and didn't want to accept the fact that it was less than 3 min. Sorry guys but that's just wrong but a way to make money and make people to buy more drinks.
Claire Dun
Good beer, friendly staff. However,  I had the smallest dinner in my life. Last night I ordered the market fish (3 thin slices that as wide as my thumb) with a mouthful of salad(2 cherry tomatoes and 5 rocket leaves). That is all for a $18 main, under the category of "Classics"? <br/><br/>The waitress thought it is absurd as well and gave me free chips. Still, my friends have to share their mussels with me so I can feel half full. Disappointed!
Alan King Bowden
Great Belgian beer cafe with plenty of beer options in bottles. A little pricey, but I think that's just the way it is in Australia. Nice patio and authentic Belgium beer pouring service.

Great place for lunch when out during events. Staff friendly and accommodating. Child friendly. Love how well the staff were able to keep up when It was so busy..very impressive.
Joanne
Always here for mussels on Monday as they are half priced. Really good but the waiting time gets too long. Usually order bread to go with the mussels. Bread are toasted but still soft which is good as we did not like our bread too toasted.

Great location away from the traffic.<br/>I'll start with the restaurant side. You'll definitely need to book on weekends or be prepared to sit on the general bar side for a while and possibly have a few frothies prior to seats becoming available in the restaurant side.<br/>The seating arrangements for the restaurant are a bit squishy although after waiting to be seated for roughly an hour last time, I'd knocked back a few beers at the general bar so I didn't mind the lack of elbow room and people bumping into me.<br/>The service was adequate although the meals took a while to come out. I'd have to say I was pretty sloshed by the time my meal arrived so my review may not be the best. From memory I enjoyed the meal and wasn't left hungry for more so I'm guessing the portion size was satisfactory.<br/>To the bar side. Plenty of sport playing on the TV. Seating indoors and outside and although there appears to be plenty it generally fills up and becomes difficult to manoeuvre to and from the bar. To and from the bar is what you'll more than likely be doing a lot of in this place as the beer menu is almost never ending. Beer is what this place is all about! Beer, beer and more bloody beer. This is a good thing. Beer is good.<br/>There are a few rippers on the menu and with such a large variety to choose from there's bound to be something for every beer lover. For the wine drinkers there are decent local reds and white wines on the menu but that's expected in Adelaide. The beer is the main act at this venue.<br/>Expect to empty your wallet if you get comfortable as the drinks aren't cheap.<br/>I may have given this place a higher rating but I have never left the place sober enough to give an accurate review. I do recommend for an enjoyable night with friends or a date night in the restaurant.

It's a bit of a finding at first but on reaching on a busy friday night, me and friends could get a nice place to sit outside. The cafe looks great from the inside even though the seats weren't that comfy the service made up to it. Service team, with a smile, explained through the variety of beers they had and were very friendly.<br/><br/>The Chilli Cheese Bites and Belgian Waffles were simply amazing but had more high hopes from the Basil Pesto which wasn't up to the mark. <br/><br/>Found it a slight bit pricy but then amazing time which I had with my friends over some great food and drinks...that's priceless!
FooDee
The outside garden of one of the most popular beer bars in Adelaide offers a perfect, relaxing and leisurely space for a casual dinner. Especially on beautiful summer nights. The beer and food selection is solid. <br/><br/>However, the food was a letdown. We ordered from the restaurant menu. My salmon slightly overcooked, dry and just bland. The accompanying salad didn't improve the taste. My boyfriend liked his steak but did not rave about it. The chips with aioli are always yum!

Awesome night out at the Belgian Beer Cafe. First time dining in the restaurant and we have been totally impressed by the food and service! <br/>Croquettes and bitterballen have delivered on flavour and size, chicken breast was moist and delicious. The original waffle was out of this world. Yum!! Food was not too fast so we could enjoy a nice lengthy dinner out. Husband described the food as Disneyland for his mouth 😃! Amazing friendly service from Sally and Angie.

The Belgian has a great atmosphere nestled on Ebenezer in the East End. Great for meeting friends after work for a quick bite and a beer before heading off to other places. They do 1kg pots of mussels, which are half price on Mondays. I recommend the Paddoestoel sauce/broth for the mussels, which is a bit more creamy and goes well. Grab a drink from their large selection of Belgian beers and you're set. Haven't had an issue with service and I enjoy coming back.
Timmia17
The Belgian Beer Cafe was nice inside on a hot summer's day to cool off. The duck burger was quite tasty but a bit sweet. However the sweet potato fries was great. The lamb roll was okay but the roll itself was a dry and crusty so took away from the overall taste. The 1kg mussel pot here is usually good though.
I Only Eat Desserts
A mark of a good restaurant is when I will come back each year to use my Entertainment Card as I know it guarantees me a good meal. This is my third year coming back to the Belgian and this place doesn’t disappoint. Graziers Eye Fillet – char grilled graziers grain fed eye fillet with sautéed spinach, jus & pommes frites with mayonnaise ($39.9)
Philam
Great place, didn't try any alcohol but ordered the confit duck burger which was a little pricey but well worth it (especially with the sweet potato chips).

Took boyfriend here for his birthday because he's a big beer fan. He loved it! Started with the beer tasting paddle & we were both impressed by the knowledge of the staff. Staff were really good the whole night. I had a Belgian cider which was tart and refreshing.<br/><br/>To eat I had the fish special: 'crispy skin barramundi with pesto cream farfalle'. Well it wasn't farfalle but it was still good. Fish was nicely cooked & came with a capsicum & tomato sauce. Texture was great, nutty and sweet from the red pepper. I'd have loved a sprinkling of salt on my fish.<br/><br/>Boyfriend had the venison. Cooked beautifully to medium rare but the meat was a bit tough. The jus was lovely and the mash really creamy. Baby carrots nice & sweet.<br/><br/>The atmosphere was fantastic. Because it was a (nearly) balmy spring evening the place was packed with people enjoying their evening. It was a pleasant surprise for such a chilled out place to do good restaurant food too.
Misscharlot
miss the mussels here, is always my favorite, $30 for a 1KG !!! and comes with some free fries. come on, it always good to have some friends to share with =)

The atmosphere is amazing at this restaurant. Ive been here a few times and everytime there is always piles of people crammed into this interesting looking hub. The cuisine here is quite different from other places ive eaten. The staff are always around to answer any questions and give you a get explanation of the menu. My favourite meal was the mussels in the variety of hotpots, came to the table in a groovy way. In the a hotpot with a cone of fries on the side in a wooden holder. And a glass of beer! Yum! Only wish the table was a tad larger to fit all the plates on! Great place!
Momo
I must say, I've gone off the beer a little of late, and that is both the main draw and the main cost of this place. What is underrated perhaps is the food, and the mussels is a fantastic deal. $30 for a 1KG bucket of Mussels, a glass of Stella and a cone of chips. The other menu items are all good and it is more of a "real" restaurant in the dining area than a pub. The setting is warm and bright and it's hard not to get a little drink here in winter.
Iamcij
Absolute disappointment. For a place that was quiet and had the time to cook things correctly, the chefs clearly didn't care at all. Half of our food was severely undercooked, the other half over cooked to the point that it was inedible. The bar staff gave us none of the Wednesday deals because she forgot it was Wednesday. Out of all the places we chose for lunch in Adelaide I am so disappointed and am not sad to say I will never return here again.
Arlette
Very expensive for a pub! Won't be back. Food average
Hunbun
Pub prices and proportions with restaurant standards. We went because we had an entertainment card and saw that it was highly rated in urbanspoon. I was keen on fine dining, not so much pub style but we were very impressed. The place was not busy, the service was excellent, the food was delicious and generous for the quality. While it is a pub, the service and the food is restaurant quality with pub proportions and pub price. The sample of 6 Belgium beers for $12 was excellent. Happy to recommend.
Yvette.n.jones
Good atmosphere but awful meals. Went here for lunch on a Saturday. While it's nice sitting outside the menu isn't that great, especially for a vegetarian. Had the 'shroom dog' which had hardly any filling, the mushrooms were chewy, and brioche soaked in butter. Fellow diner had the pulled beef burger but there wasn't much beef and what there was was chewy. Another fellow diner had the gnocchi which fortunately was ok but not very hot. Small serves and I'm a small eater so that's saying something! All of us left hungry. Very unhappy, would not go again.

Dissapointing 26th Feb. 10 of us visited Belgian Beer Cafe on Thursday night. Had booked a table for 8 people at but at the last minute 10. attended a function at the cafe upstairs function room. Yes we were a car racing team. The table was big so plenty of room. Our request for a change to 10 was greeted with grumpy reply that we had booked 8 and should not be changed. considered it a bit over the top. This is a busy time in Adelaide and can understand it had been a busy day. Once this was over, we had to wait some time before we were asked about drinks and once this was done it was to the food order. All the time it was thought we were imposing for some reason. I was the only local in the group, and with the people at other tables may have been the only local in the restaurant. One of us asked about the burger that was seen as we walked in. We were harshly advised that was a bar meal and if you want that, go to the bar. I calmly talked to the waitress if it could be done and low and behold they did accommodate us, but it was almost end of the world!! by the way no drinks have been delivered until I asked. Only cheerful time is when we paid the bill. As the only local with my group, I was embarrassed, as I had raved about the mussels, and quality of food, BUT, yes, very busy time, I know, not my fault, show some smiles, give some courteous service and all those things Adelaide stands for. they will never go back and I will struggle to recommend.

Terrible food great comedy. Booked a meal and show package. Food choices to be made from a small set menu. My husbands steak was gristly to the point of being inedible served with mushrooms that were old and slimey. My gnocchi was a miniscule portion but was at least edible. Both meals were served almost cold. We complained to the waitress when we went to pay for our drinks. She did apologise but as we had already paid for our meal along with show tickets there was no chance of financial recompense. Wont eat at this place again. The great quality of the comedy made for the tragic food.

Food is not worth the price.. $40 for not so tender eye fillet on a bed of spinach and some soupy sauce. Not worth it at all. Can get better value elsewhere. Only go there for beer and hanging out.

Worst burger ever. The boyf and I wandered into town with the aim of filling his craving for a burger. The night was unbearably hot, so when we spotted the burger and beer special we settled for this. $20 including beer would probably be okay value for a drinker, but neither of us wanted alcohol, but ordered anyway. Two tall burgers arrived, bulk mostly from huge bun. Meat portion looked generous. One bite and we both wrinkled our noses. A peek inside showed cheese clinging to the underside of the bun, a slather of tomato sauce, and what looked like mixed lettuce from a packet. No fresh tomato or any other interesting ingredient. My lettuce was partially rotten and black. This really put me off and I was unable to eat more. Boyf is normally a garbage-guts, will eat absolutely anything especially junk food. I too, enjoy food and seldom complain about an average meal. The whole thing tasted microwaved, the meat patty tasted like re-constituted cardboard. We we waited and waited for a staff member to approach and ask if our meal was okay, but no such luck. When eventually a staff member wandered out and looked in our direction, I tried in vain to get her attention. We were completely ignored so I elected to take my plate back to the kitchen and inform one of the kitchen staff. Very disappointing experience. Will not be spending my money here again.

Not good. Came in here a while back.. had a Ooste Burger and chips and it was too well overdone and dry.. the staff was quite nice though.. will come back but not for food
Daniel Low
Good value on mussels Monday. But my oh my, the saltiness was unbearable. Certainly hope it was an one off occasion.
Annie Suzanne Goodlass
Laid back, Sunday lunch. Good food. Good service. Leaving happy.

The Mussels from Brussels. Unlike Jeane Claude Van Damne this Belgian is still kicking butt with a bucket of mussels. We went in for an unusually early dinner, but given this place is open all day, not a problem. Ordered the 1kg bucket of mussels which comes with a side of fries and a beer. For $29 it's a bargain and was enough for the both of us. We did find we wanted some bread to soak up the delicious broth and paid to have some, but maybe it should come standard with the mussels. The mussels were excellent and the bucket seemed endlessly full. Service was very good and food came out promptly. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming and there was quite a few people in there. Beer selection is excellent. Not my first visit, nor my last. A great place to spend a lazy afternoon too.
Diner-saurusrex
Mussels need a shave.. Had some of their mussels which was in a delicious broth, but unfortunately too many of the mussels had their beards still attached, a HUGE no-no in my book.
Ur_with_zoe
Its great. It feels homey an i keep coming back, they have the best burgers, a full grown man will be stuffed, when ordering the chips they come with amazing mayonnaise, and its the only place that i have found kriek (a cherry beer, my favourite beer) on tap. i love the service always friendly and quick, I go there a lot
BVP
Worst ravioli ever. Dirty glasses. Very dissappointed...
Robert Eaves
Awesome. Second visit here, service is exceptional, food is absolutely amazing and the deserts are a must have. Probably the best sausage and mash I've ever had. Atmosphere is really good, nice background music and the price is very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Great Burger. The burger here was delicious and enough for two modest eaters. Imported pear cider : $9.90. The "taster set" of 5 x 100mls beers was delicious but expensive tho ( ~ $19.00 ? !). They do a disconcerting routine to pour your beer, involving all sorts of brushes and rinses, and they even comb off the froth with a special tool, just like in Belgium ( I don't know why), so skip this part if you're squeamish about how beer is poured :) ha ha .... Two staff were friendly, one was a bit surly on the bar when I asked if i could choose the "tasters" myself - answer : "No". The prices of beers is not advertised on a noticeboard ( as it is at other boutique pubs), so beware. Out door area is pleasant, and I guess would be kid friendly. Bike friendly, too
Peter Featherston
Really great themed pub with fun atmosphere. The food is really good and despite being a little pricey it is worth it. I'd really like to say the service was good (it was) but it was really quiet tonight (Sunday) so it wasn't like they had many other tables to attend to.
Jessie
Service was quite good, I had the ravioli which was delicious, and my husband had the scotch fillet, which he devoured. Pricey, but food was excellent.

I went back a second time in a month as I wanted to like this venue, but still people waiting longer weren't served first & the staff seemed grumpy. Sharing plates were small. Beer & nice location are good.

Good Venue, Amature Owner. Went in around 9:00pm, good atmosphere. Place was busy which is a good sign. Grabbed a 4 seat table outside, 2 chairs for the ladies, but no other chairs avaliable, which was understandable when so busy, so me and my mate were happy to stand. 30 seconds later we were approached rather loudly and rudely by an obnoxious little old man who we later found out to be the owner, not asking, but telling us we cannot stand and must be seated, when clearly there was a lack of funds to provide enough seats for every table. We were then told to "F***ing Leave" out loud if we didn't like it as he was struting around like a 4ft bouncer with small man rage syndrome. Finding this extremly rude, and trying to contain my rage. I decided to keep calm instead of going at him in front of all his customers with my 9 years of martial arts experience and making a mess of him for being so rude. In the end we spent over $700 at one of his competitors venues across the road, with plenty of chairs too. May go back, but it won't be for the drinks or expecting to get a seat thats for sure.
Tony
During your lunch break from work, grab the hot dog, chips and beer for $13 from the bar menu. Compare that to an $13 meal from any food court and you'll realise you're on a good thing for work lunches with mates.

Good, I think?. I've eaten at the beer cafe multiple times, and always come away feeling pretty damn good about it. I just wish I could remember exactly what I had! I have quite the sweet spot for Belgian Beer, and usually eat after one too many Leffe Pints. <br/>The Oost Plate is amazing, the best octopus I have ever eaten. Amazing beer, fantastic service, great decor! The only complaint would be the over the top beer prices, but that aside, one of the best pubs in the CBD.
Speckles
Underwhelming. We have been here a few times before and the food has always been consistent but nothing to rave about and the service average. I went again recently with some friends and received very poor service at the end of our meal by a very rude waitress. The food was ok but some of the dishes are very mismatched. Its not worth the risk of a bad meal for the benefit of an average one with surly service. <br/>Good place to go for a drink but I won't be going back for a meal anytime soon.

Went for Saturday lunch. The meals were better than adequate though the frittes were under cooked. Wine list was above average. Service friendly. I hate being cold and it was nice and cosy. Music quite loud but I like it like that.

Belgian Bore Cafe. It was a chilly August night so my friends and I headed to the Belgian Beer Cafe in Adelaide's Eastend for what we hoped would be a hearty and warming meal. The beer as expected was great, however the burger that I ordered despite the place being practically empty was cold! On top of that I was charged 50 cents for tomato sauce which I presumed was a given with burgers and chips? The burger was a lacklustre patty in foccacia bread, not worth $16.90. This was accompanied by a freezing cafe as they had doors open.
Rogie
A favourite for mussels. We shared an order of mussels last night with a side of turkish bread. It was a great meal with great service. We both left full and satisfied. Will be going back again!
Dion
Good food, great service. Gotta try all the beers. Also go the chips!

The tart for entree was uninspiring And ravioli was nice but not hot enough. Have had a drink here before outside in the sun but would't try the restaurant again.

Great service and yummy beer snacks. Would come again.

Excellent beer selection. Great casual dining. It's all about the beer.

Been a few times now and still pleased. My wife and I dined here last night. We had the Paddestoel Mussels (served in a white wine, mushroom & garlic broth) which were great. A serve of Turkish bread allowed us to savour more of the broth.<br/><br/>We shared our mains. The Filet de Scotch was awesome; we ordered it medium and it was still VERY tender and flavoursome. The rosemary and confit garlic demi glaze matched the steak well and was very tasty. In truth I can not recall having a better steak anywhere before! We ordered the Croupe d' Agneau (char grilled lamb rump) med-rare. I thought it was excellent; my wife would have preferred it medium but it was my choice so med-rare it was. We didn't have dessert as we were both very full. <br/><br/>All the dishes were well presented. Our table did get a little crowded with all the tableware however (plates, mussel pot, lid for pot in which to put our now empty mussel shells, wooden stand for Pommes Frites (aka chips) and mayo plus water & beer) but we managed:)<br/><br/>The service started out good then waned a little but was fine overall. The decor is nice as you would expect. The music from the bar was conflicting with the dining room music but it was a Fri night so it was expected. One of the staff assured us that it really only gets like that on the weekend so if you prefer it to be a bit quieter and maybe more intimate avoid Fri & Sat evenings.<br/><br/>It's not exactly cheap however all but one main comes in at the $$$ price range of $25 to $35 and the menu is online so it really shouldn't startle anyone. If anything the staff could've been a little more attentive as it didn't seem all that busy in the dining room.<br/><br/>Overall I'm very happy with my experience (again) and will be taking our kids there soon to try the mussels.

Katherine, our waitress was more than accommodating but after receiving the mussels marinieres the fun stopped. If you like your mussels soaked in celery and dirty dish water then this is the place for you. The fries were better but still average. And handing over your passport for for a glass of hoegarden was the last straw. All at a princely sum of $75 for two. No deal.<br/><br/><br/>-----27 Dec, 2011-----<br/><br/>Katherine, our waitress was more than accommodating but after receiving the mussels marinieres the fun stopped. Poor Service and Food. We had planned major event for son's birthday and we were extremely disappointed with both the food and service in the restuarant. Small serves, big prices, tough meat, and lack of customer service. When complained feedback was rude and not interested in rectifying problem.......I would not recommend to anyone, very disappointing and expensive night out!

Nothappy2010. Would just like to advise anyone who is thinking about having a cocktail function at Belgian Beer Cafe Adelaide, not to. We were promised and advised how things would happen at our function and they werent delivered as per our discussion before hand. Our main concern was the food!! not enough and not frequently being served to our guests. and not only this but we were spoken very rudely and very unappropriatley to by the owner when we called up to point out our concerns about the night. it was not handled very professionaly, expecially if you have been in the business for over 30 years!!! and on top of this being accused of something we did not do and making smart remarks about our guests. do not assume! get the facts before you make an assumption! very dissapointing this place was, would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a perfect night for a special occasion.

This place is renowned for two things, beer and mussels. With an 8 page beer menu, a person can get easily distracted by the amount of choice on offer.

Belgian Beer Cafe Oostende I headed into Rundle Street a few weeks ago with no plan on where I was going to eat that night and after browsing the menu of most of the restaurants along the street we decided that the Belgian Beer Cafe would be our pick of the evening. This cafe has a traditional Belgium theme from decor to food, and is most well known for it's huge range of speciality beers and ciders. When I first started University (and before my health issues) this pub was one I frequented for Saturday night drinks, but I had never actually eaten here. The place was really busy but they were able to get us a table in the restaurant area straight away. The waitress was really chirpy and attentive and was able to answer all of our questions about the specials and standard menu with ease. For my meal I ordered the fillet steak with blue swimmer crab cake, crispy prosciutto and jus and my friend ordered the chicken breast filled with chorizo, smoked mozzarella and basil served with saffro

The Belgian Beef Cafe has been around for over a decade.  It is located on the east end of Rundle Street, entry is via the side just off Rundle Street.  It is a very pleasant place to have after work drinks, or to relax and enjoy some delicious food.
I Only Eat Desserts
Being a poor uni student for the past 5 years I have remained only on the bar side of life with this being my very first time even entering the restaurant area. Pricey food draws the pricey crowds – C and I brought down the average age by a couple of decades. Luckily for us me and my trusty entertainment book had a discount for here (we Asians love our discounts man). Tripel Karmeliet ($14.20) This duck is no ordinary piece of meat – cooked to perfection with herbs and spices covering it which resulted in flavoursome and tasty bites. The bed of gnocchi was oh so soft that it melted away (the only qualm I had was that I wanted more). Light leek and almond cream really pulled all the elements together on the dish – I was dipping anything I could into the sauce but it did get a bit heavy towards the end. Duo de Canard - Confit Duck Leg & Roasted Duck Shank w’ Hand-made Gnocchi, Leek & almond cream w’ Sautéed Chard ($33.90) The chicken was C’s dish where I stole nibbles here and there Chic

I have found a new love….. Mussels! Up until a few months ago I refused to try them and the very look of them was revolting but my pushy boyfriend took me to the Belgian Beer Cafe - 27-29 Ebenezer Place Adelaide SA 5000 because they are known for their Les Moules . So I thought what the heck, I'll try them. And they were delicious!!! We had the Provençale flavour which was mussels steamed in rich tomato sauce with confit garlic, kalamata olives, capsicum and fresh basil. I also suggest having a side of the chips and aioli dip, it just finishes the whole experience. I also have to suggest one of the beers at the Belgian Beer Cafe, its called Floris and it comes in three different flavours (chocolate, raspberry and apple) I have tried chocolate and apple so far and they are so yummy. Chocolate is better with a dessert but the apple was perfect with the meal. Overall the Belgian Beer Cafe is a wicked place to go either with a cheesy someone or a bunch of mates for a few cheeky beers an

Those who grew up with me would know that I am not a mussel advocate nor am I a beer-aholic. As a growing teenager, I used to pick out these little morsels from my plate of pasta and plop it into my parents or siblings' plates and cringe in horror when I take a sip of beer at wedding dinners. I have never acknowledged myself as a fussy eater but looking back at my weird eating habits, perhaps I was a difficult child? Not that it's a bad thing haha. Having still disliked the idea of consuming mussels back when I first arrived in Australia, I would steer away from this place, mainly because most people who dine here come for the delectable pot of mussels. After what seemed like 4 years, I have finally decided to head back here for a relaxing Sunday afternoon to end a hectic working week! Strangely enough, my taste buds have evolved and are able to take in more exquisite/ exotic/ adult type of food/ beverages. Makes me wonder if I should attempt eating my dad's infamous bitter gourd dish.

...get distracted by a detailed eight page beer menu? Drinks ordered. Thirst quenched. We then turned our attention to the food menu. How does a pot full of mussels sound? I'm not certain I even really like mussels but I'm all for the full experience and if mussels are the staple Belgian dish, then mussels it will be. Not to mention they come served in a massive traditional 'Belgian Kilo Mussel Pot'. What? Michelle opted for a much more sensible sausage and beer combo deal. But where's the fun it that? Merguez 'N' Beer - Char grilled French beef sausage, caramelised onion, seeded mustard mayonnaise in a crusty bread roll served with pommes frites and a 330ml Stella Artois. The Pot-O-Mussels comes served in y

This Belgian cafe is known for two things. 1) Beer 2) Mussels. But I am sorry to say that I tried neither because I am not a fan of them. But if you are, you should try it because heaps of people come here specially for the beer and the one kilo of Mussels served in a traditional Belgian Mussel Pot, Served w' Pommes Frites & House Made Creamy Mayonnaise! Anyhow these were the two mains we ordered! Entrecôte de Porc Char-Grilled Pork Rib Eye w' Apple, Carrot, Turkish Fig & Red Cabbage Slaw w' Char Grilled Chorizo A tad too salty and dry for my liking..was not a big fan of the coleslaw either Ratatouille aux Champignons Fetta Filled Mushrooms, w' Eggplant, Zucchini, Red Peppers & Pumpkin Ratatouille Very unique dish especially if you love fetta and mushrooms. Loved how all the flavours tied together and the best part is that it's a vegan dish! Very yummy one indeed Every main on the menu comes with a recommended beer to order alongside and I wish I ordered a pint so that I could review

Belgian Bier Cafe on Ebenezer Place in Adelaide’s CBD east end is a common meeting point for people, especially after work come a Friday afternoon (last working day til the weekend!). The beer cafe is always buzzing and during the months of summer, the best thing to do is order an ice cold beer with a side of their pommes frites with mayo!<br/><br/>A trio of us decided to dine in their restaurant wing for a casual dinner catch up away from the ‘noisier’ end of the venue. :P<br/><br/>Belgium’s national dish is their mussels or moules, and what’s a visit here without ordering a pot of these?
