Gourmet pizza in a woodfired oven is one of my favourites and this restaurant didn't let me down. Nestled on the edge of Adelaide CBD it has an authentic Mediterranean feel and ambience. Greeted immediately, was heavily booked but able to fit me in as long as I was done in an hour. menu and water arrived quickly, order taken soon after and a cold beer delivered shortly after that. The menu has a good selection to choose from. Pizza arrived in good time as the customers kept rolling in and it was delicious. Good quality pizza is always up there in price, but this restaurant is well worth the food quality. Service, comfort, ambience, speed and overall experience are well worth 5 stars. definately recommended.
Average pizza that is pricey for what it is. The crust of the pizza is nice, but the toppings are lacklustre which makes the pizzas overall quite bland.
Subsequent visit was much improved, with more flavorful toppings.

A mate recommend this place for lunch so went tried it out today.
Ordered the Fungi pizza at Pizza e Mozzarella and it tasted okay. I wasn't particularly impressed or disappointed.
Pizzas are a little over priced and overrated. You wouldn't miss anything if you skipped this place.
Excellent food, and even better service. The 60's tableware combined with serving the tiramisu out of a communal baking dish really made the atmosphere!
There are so many variations around pizza. For something so simple – base, sauce (optional), toppings – there are endless option for what you can do. Pretty much if you can think of it, then someone, somewhere, would have tried it. . The classics are really where it is at though, and it is to these strengths that Pizza E Mozzarella Bar play their cards. A thin flavoursome pizza base, with simple sauces (or bianco), two or three ingredients well chosen and properly sourced, and you have yourself pizza heaven.
One of the best pizzeria places in Adelaide. At $30 a head for the banquet, we had a bountiful anti pasti platter made of marinated capsicum, zucchini, pumpkin, olives, mozzarella, fancy balls, Italian sausages, salami, salad and a chef selection of pizzas. The crust is just perfectly crunchy and rustic. We tried the pork crackling and it was as crunchy as could be. The desserts were good too, and th5 of us sampled the decadent nutina pizza, the classic Tira misunderstanding, the poached pear and biscotte. My favourite was the awareness cherry Panna cotta (although it was a tad heavier/creamier than I usually have it). Nothing particular about the affogatto. We thoroughly enjoyed the busy ambience. Highly recommended for a group.
Amazing wood oven pizzas! Thin crispy base, modestly topped with tasty ingredients. The most amazing tiramisu! Delicious food and lovely staff
Excellent option for gluten free diners. Most items on menu available gluten free and all delicious. Definitely recommend the banquet, great value for money and huge serves.

absolutely love this place! highly recommended if your looking for some authentic Italian wood oven pizza! the fresh mozzarella with fresh bread and prosciutto is to die for and we have also done the banquet for a birthday and the food was amazing and very filling!
Hands down the best pizza in town ! The buffet option is the way to go, very generous and well priced for groups. Lamb ribs, pork belly with potatoes were a highlight apart from their melt in your mouth margherita pizza. Look forward to dining here again.
Some of the best pizza in Adelaide. Love the open kitchen and the amazing smells as soon as you walk in. Service is fantastic - very genuine and friendly staff who are able to offer their honest opinions. The pizza is delicious. Crunchy crusts but warm and cloud-like on the inside. Tuna carpaccio as an entree is a must have!! Cocktails are well priced and the atmosphere is happy and cosy! Love this restaurant.
I have been looking for the best pizza in South Australia. I have finally found it! The flavour and texture of the pizza is perfect. For me the most authentic pizza I have tasted in SA so far.
Beautiful, authentic Tuscan-style pizza. Nice elastic base and fresh, tasty tomatoes. Service is attentive but not overbearing. Great place for a business lunch.
I was taken here for a post-meeting feed by a client who is Italian and as my first ever meal in Adelaide, it delivered a wow factor!
As I walked in I could see the handmade pizza dough being flipped in the air as the dining area immediately hits you with a fragrance of traditional Italy.
We shared the Buratta with slow roasted tomato, Lettuce salad, Tutto Mare Pizza (Prawns mussels crab meat anchovy), and Pork belly with crackling, potatoes and roasted capsicum.
The buratta was nice and subtle, the salad perfectly dressed and still crisp, while the pork belly was beautifully tender. The pizza was the hero. I loved the seafood flavours on one of the best pizza crusts I've ever tasted. What a fabulous way to be welcomed into this city. Highly recommended!
Gave the savoury pizzas a miss for our first visit but they looked really fresh, spare and inviting on our neighbours' tables. Sofritto was a bit too salty for my liking, and pork belly was meh. Excellent nutino pizza drizzled with hazelnuts, with a base that turned crispy in the middle as it went cool -- best part of the meal. Plenty of on-street parking on a weekend night.
The banquet is so good: antipasto, salad and selection of pizzas. I love the pizzas here. Been here for the banquet about 3 times now and the food is consistently yummo.
Love love love the pizza here.
Basic thin crunchy pizzas, the minimal topics used work so well together and of great quality very tasty! Great place for lunch during the week. And can easily polish of one to myself.
My favourite pizza place in Adelaide! Every time I've been here I have received great service and of course great pizza. I've had a dinner with a group of 20 here and the banquet was more food than we could handle with antipasto, grilled meats and pizza. The staff were also very accommodating given we were such a large group. Highly recommend and will continue to eat here!
Spacious store and very friendly staff, but unfortunately, this place just didn't do it for me. I found the pizzas here to be quite average and lacking in diversity. Most of the choices consisted of some type of meat and cheese topping (some with a couple of veggies). It was quite salty and the pizza bases were a bit tough. With most pizzas being just over $20, I was expecting something amazing.
Awesome pizza, wood oven cooked and the best i have had for years and years! I will certainly be back with my family to boot!! I had the seafood pizza and loved it!
One of my favourite places in Adelaide. Food is amazing and staff are ever so friendly and helpful. My number one recommendation to anyone visiting Adelaide.
Excellent pizzas with great atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a group of around 15 and were looked after so well. The pizzas were perfect with thin, crisp bases and fresh flavoursome toppings.
Great atmosphere, especially for a group.

The best pizza I've ever had. Simple and delicious. The crust is like eating clouds! The service average but it was worth it for the pizza. Mmmmmm
We are from Melbourne and this pizza beats anything in Victoria. Seriously the best pizza we've had since Rome. Thin delicious crusts, delicious mozzarella and prosciutto and the Nutella pizza was a great finisher. Great value and service too, well done to the owner/chefs.
Italian food is best when kept simple and this place does just that. I often walk past early in the morning and the wood fire is already cranking and the chefs are busy rolling out the dough.
Come lunchtime, the place is buzzing across all 3 levels with the smell of freshly fired pizza filling the entire place.
Service is great with lots of authenticity and all the staff know the menu inside out. Pizza is the go here and you cant go wrong with any of the choices but the Italian sausage and the margherita are my favourites. There is an interesting wine list, but perhaps a tad short for my liking. I suppose it matched the simplicity of the menu. Apart from pizza, the mozzarella on offer is well worth a go, I never knew how good this cheese could be until i compared styles side by side.
Whether you need to hide in the back corner for a business lunch or want to share great food with a long table of friends, Pizza e Mozzarella doesn't disappoint. Best seat in the house? Sat at the bar in the front window, watching the chefs go about their work and the people outside go by.
The pizza's pasta and service were great, cozy atmosphere and a good wine list make Pizza e Mozzarella Bar well worth a visit.

This is where simple flavours shine due to excellent quality ingredients put together with care. Ate lunch here on Friday. Had antipasto platters plus sampled three pizzas... Everything was delicious. The only complaint we had was our beer was flat so we sent it back and the second wasn't much better but when the third beer arrived, it was how it should have been (not their fault). This place is much better than other pizza restaurants who are claiming to be authentic...
Simple and delicious. On a chilly autumn day, my friend and I were greeted to a warm and inviting wood oven. We knew that the pizzas weren't going to disappoint, and loved having them made in front of us. I ordered a Margherita, hoping the traditional toppings would be complimented with a thin, crispy base. They were. In fact, it was perfection. Knowing Pizza e Mozzarella Bar can ace what is sometimes a dull choice of pie, I have no doubt that others on the menu are also superb.
I can highly recommend the Suckling Pig, wood oven baked and totally delicious. Great for a group!
The service was outstanding, thankyou for a wonderful night. We'll be back to try your pizza!!
My kind of bar.. We came here with no reservation on a busy Friday night and were seated at the bar in front of the chefs. We watched as the three meticulously prepared the food-one rolled out the dough, one arranged the toppings and placed the pizza carefully in the oven next to the flames and the third prepared everthing on the menu other than the pizzas. What a fabulous chain of hardworking maestri-effortlessly going through each order impeccably and wiping down the bench each and everytime an order was done. The result, for us, were an antipasto special with alici, polpetta al sugo, bread, olives and roasted vegetables and mozzarella, and two pizzas. Each was fresh, delicious and authentic. The decor and service were also above par. Overall this restaurant-in image and taste, works.
Great service good wine good platters. Loved the octopus!
Exceptional service. I also dined here on Saturday night - the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. One has to wonder about the motivation of the 'diner' below.....
Fantastic pizza awesome waitstaff
Good pizzas........... We ate here last year and recently did the pizza cooking course for fun.
We like the pizza's, though a few different topping selections added to the menu would be good too.
I had a tiramisu which was OK but not great.
There was only 1 wine I wanted on the wine list, which we were subsequently told was sold out!
In my opinion, the wine list needed improving & byo would be nice!
We will be back for the pizza's though.
Best pizza in Adelaide. I have been to Pizza e Mozzarella several times for lunch and had a Christmas function here, it is the best authentic Italian pizza in Adelaide. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food.... what more could you ask for.
Great food!. Have been here on my lunch break as i work in the city.
great food but a little pricy
staff seem friendly and nice vibe.
8/10
Fab and Fresh. We dined her as a group with work several weeks ago.
The service was a bit hectic, but it was peak lunch time, so that's understandable.
Large pizas, fresh bases and ingredients - lovely and delicious - good menu choices - would definately share next time and not order one each!
Hands down best pizza in Adelaide that I've had in my 32 years! They get it. It's what the Italians do, it's how they do it over there. Simple, quality ingredients without overdoing it. Simple dough, simple concept, excellent execution!
While it works out a pricey choice for a work day lunch, these people know their pizza.
Fresh ingredients, simple flavour combo's and a crunchy wood oven base make for a winning recipe.
Non pizza menu looks good too!
Good, honest, fresh-tasting pizza.
Just glorious. Honestly. This place is gold. Got back from another lunch. Friendly service. Great food. The pizza... just authentic and traditional and delicious. And the cheese! Oh, the cheese - so delicious.
I just feel amazing. So does my companion. It made our day. The only regret - not ordering some wine. But better to not go to a meeting at work mildly inebriated.
Go. Order pizza. Order cheese. Order wine. Order coffee. Enjoy.
Pizza as it should be!. I've been here a few times now and each time I am delighted by the perfectly cooked pizza which my friends and I have all consistently ordered. I really can't fault them, friendly, knowledgeable staff, delicious, well cooked pizza, probably the only complaint is that they aren't open for dinner more than once a week. Great place, I highly recommend it for serving pizza as it should be and will return in a heartbeat.
Had a good lunch there today. Antipasto was nice - should be a regular fixture on the menu rather than a special.
Amazing pizzas. Had a margherita pizza today for a quick Friday lunch catchup with a mate. The place was full of staff kneading dough and it had a great feel.
The menu had gluten free options and really interesting mains such as pork belly. However pizza was the order of the day and what better benchmark than a margherita pizza.
The pizza was beautiful! Paper thin and so fresh and light. It was reminiscent of the pizzas I ate on the streets of Italy. Very highly recommended!
Exceptional service, exceptional pizza. Just got back from lunch at Pizza e Mozzarella Bar! A friend took his fiance there on Friday night and decided to introduce me to the place on the Monday after. That's a good indication of how good this place is.
The service delivered by the Swiss waiter was polite and helpful, the decor of the bar was very 'vintage', very atmospheric; it felt just right, a world away from the busy yet quiet Adelaide streets outside. We had some sparkling mineral water, two pizzas and some Italian beers. The pizzas ordered were both great. The proscuitto on mine was not too salty but very flavoursome and the base on the pizza was very traditional.
The beers ended up being given to us for free -- they left them off the bill and once this was brought to their attention they said not to worry. The good feeling demonstrated here is another reason to return.
Will be back -- whether with colleagues during the week or with a lady on a Friday night.
Go there!
Fab service & food. I've been here twice now - once as part of a large group with work and once on a Friday evening (the only dinner service they do). On the Friday we went around 5pm with our toddler. The staff could not have been more lovely or accommodating. And everything was efficient and the food was great too (roast pork with romesco sauce - mmmm). If you do want to go on a Friday night (or at any time) you are advised to book - we only got a table because we turned up at 5pm (and "normal" people don't really eat at that time!).
Ate: Antipasti plate-from t.... Ate:
Antipasti plate-from the mozzarella down to the white anchovies flavour indulgence in every bite
Wood oven braised oxtail- huge serve, rich flavours, meat falling off the bone perfect for winters day.
Margherita pizza- put that knife and fork down, fold it in half and let that tradition of Italian pizza take hold.
So full, so good.
Oh and staff relaxed interactive, great experience
Awesome! Crust was great, toppings great! Cooked properly! Service friendly and knowledgable! Worth every dollar!
An authentic pizza bar for the business crowd. This is a wonderful little place in Adelaide's busy lunch district in Pirie Street. Pizza E Mozzarella possesses an authenticity that others find hard to create. It begins with the enormous wood fired pizza oven in the front of house, where one can sit at a bench with a glass of pinot and watch the hand-flipped pizzas being made by local artisans. The lively bustle of the staff in creating and presenting the wonderfully rustic pizzas and delicious mozzarella plates to the table is captivating to watch. Indeed the service is very attentive and disarmingly personal.. The pizzas are delightfully rustic and generous in serving, and the mozzarella plates offer a delicious pizza alternative. With an interesting selection of wines from regions that include Burgundy, Provence, Rioja, Carneros, Central Otago, Tasmania and our own South Australia wines, this place is hard to beat. Open Friday nights for dinner too.
Mangia Mangia!. Service was impecable, and the wait staff sweet, funny, lovely and helpful! Pizza was delizioso! We pretty much tried all on the menu, and they are as a pizza should be! Thin, crusty and not loaded with toppings. Each bite had a different flavour. The atmosphere was great, only complaint would be that it is fairly noisey, but over all loved it and had a great lunch!
Amazing Food, Great Service. The service and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Amazing food. Verdura pizza was fresh, simple authentic and delicious. Best pizza i've ever eaten. The tuna carpaccio with wood oven bread and Mozzarella was of an equally high standard. Good wine selection too. Will definitely be returning. Wish they opened for dinner more often.
Top Quality Pizza. The rest...not so good.. Ordered the $40 banquet as eating with about 10 others for a mates birthday. pizzas came out first, and were delicious. thin crust, amazing sauce, simple yet good quality toppings. id rather a quality pizza with 2 toppings than a cheap deep pan pizza with 20 toppings that leaves you bloated any day. if i return, ill just order the pizza and bugger the rest of the menu.
so pizza's were fine, then the rest of the dishes were presented. a plate of lamb rump that was a bit dry and overcooked, no sauce or garnish at all. 2 plates, 4 or 5 pieces of lamb on each. this is supposed to go between 12/13 people. this problem occured again when a plate with a slice pork belly was presented. we had to cut and divvy up one fillet between 6 or 7 people. why wouldnt the waiter/chef do this before hand? its lazy and its stingy. then a chicken roulade that was dry and unremarkable. a 'lettuce salad' as the menu reads, was a small bowl with just some ripped up iceberg lettuce. WOW. and the 'roast patatine' was a couple of very small bowls of roast potato. so stingy that we each only got about half a potato. so to sum up the banquet, pizzas were excellent (and the maanger even gave us a couple more pizzas at no extra charge, which was nice), but i think it was pretty obviously because the rest of the "banquet" was really underwhelming.
service was very good, waiters were friendly and enthusiastic. no problems whatsoever.
so to sum up, the atmosphere is fine, service very good. the pizzas were excellent, and if i return i would just order every pizza on the menu.
but i would not reccomend ordering the banquet. the lamb, pork, chicken were very underwhelming, and the portion size was very tiny, a banquet should be plentiful food, not a small sample of each plate. i would make the banquet just lots of pizzas and mozzarella tasting plates, as this is obviously the restuarants strength.
Best Authentic Pizza in Adelaide. Great Service, Delicious Pizza, thin fresh Pizza base with fresh/sweet tomato sauce topped with fresh ingredients. Fresh Fresh Fresh! Delicious, a must try in Adelaide.
Funky new place in the city. delish food, friendly staff, impeccable service & great friday night atmosphere. will be working my way through that menu!
Amazing!. Never heard of this place before and stumbled upon it. So many new pizza places opening up at the moment so i didnt expect too much as they are all tasting the same... but wow was i suprised!
The pizzas were just unbeliavble, everything tasted so fresh and the sauce they use is the best i think i have ever tasted.
You are missing out by not going to this place!
A charming experience. We absolutely loved our experience at the Pizza e Mozzarella Bar. Completely unique in its decor and atmosphere, all heart-warmingly crafted to provide a truly rustic vibe. The pizzas were really yummy and authentic, and I can't wait to go there again to eat some more :-). I would highly recommend this place.. Go and enjoy a quality experience!
Impressive Debut. I went along yesterday for their opening and was very impressed with the quality of the Pizza's. The Wood Oven cooked my Quattro Stagoni pizza (ham, olives, artichokes, salami) to perfection.
Looking forward to seeing how the non-pizza mains go in the Wood Oven.
I'll be back!
26 Monday May 2014 Tags pirie street , pizza , Pizza e Mozzarella , pork belly , tiramisu Pizza e Mozzarella on Pirie Street was recently named in The Advertiser’s top 10 pizza places in Adelaide. And as luck would have it, just days before that top 10 list emerged I was lucky enough to have lunch there with a friend. Walking in, I was really impressed by the large pizza ovens right out the front where you can watch your pizza being made. We were greeted by friendly staff and taken to our table upstairs. I was glad we made a booking – the tables filled up quickly! We both ordered a glass of Two Italian Boys rosé from the Adelaide hills region, although the wine list has an extensive Italian selection. I know, I should have had a pizza! (When in Rome?) But I really couldn’t go past the pork belly with crackling and caponata ($28), while my friend had La Pizza with salami, ham and mushrooms – minus the olives ($23). My pork was very well cooked, with crackling, but there was a chunk of inedible fat right in the middle. The caponata was delicious and I could have eaten more of it! My friend loved her pizza but found it a little hard to cut. She thought it was quite traditional with not too many toppings piled on top. After asking for the dessert menu, we both really wanted to try the tiramisu ($12). The waitress placed two small plates, which looked like they were from the 80s, in front of us. We were too busy chatting to question what they were for. She then returned with a mustard coloured glass bowl of tiramisu and scooped out our serving and slopped it down on our plates. We were both surprised, as we hadn’t experienced this type of serving of tiramisu anywhere else. It was nice tiramisu, perhaps a little heavy on the cream, but the way the waitress served it, we might as well have been Oliver Twist asking for more gruel. Despite that, it was lovely lunch. Next time I’ll definitely try a pizza!
This is one of only a few places in Adelaide that come close to making you feel like you are in Italy. If you have had a pizza in Italy, when you bite into these pizza’s, you have a flashback and wish you were back in Italy eating the pizza. Their authentic food is cooked in their wood oven, with the rustic flavours you can smell as you walk in from Pirie St. Their staff are very welcoming and make you feel relaxed as if you were at home. This is a great location in winter, as the heat from the wood oven makes for a warmth eating experience. Two good choices of pizzas are the Quattro Stagioni (ham, olives, artichokes, salami) and the Capricciosa (artichoke, ham, anchovy, olives). Every Italian will tell you that a good pizza is determined on their Margherita pizza. Pizza is not only on the menu, as they offer a good selection of main meals with
Everyone seems to say, a perfect crust makes the perfect pizza, and it appears Pizza e Mozzarella Bar has this in the bag..... lightly salted, crispy thin crust. Sauce was also evenly spread on top making it not to soggy, not too dry... just great!
The wait of 30 minutes is worth the culinary experience of their food. Every pizza is asymmetrically unique, with sunny tomato sauce. Mine was decorated with genuine prosciutto and traditional mozzeralla. Accompanied by a French Riesling, the meal was a celebration of life.
Sitting out the front, I was able to watch the pizza chef in action - as well as see the secret of perfect crackling. If only I had the high temperatures of a wood fired oven to finish off my pork roast! Pork belly with crackling and romesco sauce ($24) was brilliant. Ridiculously juicy, the pork was perfect all by itself. I didn't even use much of the accompanying romesco sauce (think capsicum/tomato type pesto), because I wanted to revel in the pure flavours of the piggy goodness.
Mama mia, it’s Friday! Friday nights are the perfect excuse to go out with workmates and/or friends into the city for after work drinks, dinner and maybe a few more drinks to toast to the end of a another work week! Time to venture out and try a new pizza joint that’s been operating on Pirie Street for the last couple of months, they make their pizzas on site in their wood ovens inside the restaurant so the place smelt of fresh baked pizza, mMmmmm. The alluring smell definitely got ones taste buds going as it wafted through the air and lingered all the way up stairs through their multi level venue. We got seated on the highest level overlooking the restaurant and the kitchen right below us towards the front. There was also an open counter bar top at the front of the place – a perfect spot to have your pizza whilst people watching. The decor was a mish mash of old and random decor pieces; plates, crockery and furniture are a mix and match of op shop goodies which had a nostalgic charm a
It seems like pizza is a bit of an in-thing at the moment in Adelaide. Not that long ago Etica opened (I’m yet to get there) and hot on its heels is Pizza e Mozzarella on Pirie Street. I was lucky enough to have a work lunch coming up and even more lucky that I seem to be the most food obsessed person on my team (wait, maybe even the whole floor). So when opinions were being canvassed for where we should eat I was jumping up and down suggesting Pizza e Mozzarella (on the basis that “I haven’t been there before!”). My enthusiasm worked and a group of 14 of us trooped off for lunch. Pizza e Mozzarella is strictly a lunch venue – dinner is offered on a Friday though and it is closed on weekends. Given what I saw on a Wednesday lunch I’d also say that bookings should be considered essential. As we were such a large group we had one of the banquet menus. We opted for the $30 a head option which was antipasto and
Pizza here is fabulous… I am Italian and so is the pizza 😋 and service is A+
The place is located in the heart of Adelaide city. A lovely, simple decor with friendly and professional staff and service. Loved everything about this place. The suggested white wine was the perfect pairing for the food. The pizzas were wood oven cooked. The base was authentic, crusty, chewy and light. Proper amount of toppings and very well balanced. The Calabrian chilli paste was so nice. For the veggie pizza i would love to have smoked eggplant but it was not there!
So if you love authentic Italian wood oven pizza this is the place to be.
Gluten free base pizzas are excellent. Lovely atmosphere.
It's ok, enough pizza for what we paid and yes it's authentic, which is great, but just be mindful that service can be a little slow at the start. Drinks served quickly but food took a little while and it's fairly noisy.
I know it's a pizza joint but maybe a few more salads to balance out the carbs would be a welcome addition 😂
We walked into this business for an evening meal not knowing anything about the business. We found the service excellent. Extremely obliging staff. Our gluten free, dairy free pizza and a side serving of potatoes was excellent. One of the best gf/df pizzas we have ever eaten. We will return soon for another meal.
Best pizza in Adelaide and service impeccable. I’m hearing-impaired and asked for a quieter spot and they accommodated me wonderfully. Sometimes feel foolish for asking but these guys made it easy
Best vegan margarita pizza in Adelaide. Great that they offer vegan cheese. Awesome service, pizza always comes out so soon after ordering! We come here regularly and enjoy our visit each time. The tomato base is so flavourful and the pizza is thin and crispy! Delicious!
