Loved the range of books, and watching the bartenders make the cocktails was really fun. I recommend the Harry Potter themed cocktail. The place looks really good too.
Hands down the best bar in adelaide. Beautiful bar, 100% perfect service from wonderful staff! Huge selection of nothing but premium booze, and amazing food and drinks. Many a night have, and will be spent at this fine establishment.
Bibliotheca was a cozy place to have a mid week catch up. Love the books around the place, really appealed to a book lover. Decent wine list and friendly service. I didn't eat but the menu looks interesting with lots of wine bar appropriate treats.
Hidden away off Hindley St, a lovely small bar with shelves of books along one section of the wall and innovative cocktails with a book theme, along with countless other drinks. We went here twice within a few days, and tried the Don Quixote, Memoirs of a Geisha, Drink that shall not be named (aka goblet of fire) and My Precious cocktails between us. My fav was the My Precious (who would've thought kiwi would be so good with vodka), but I loved the making of the Goblet cocktail...will not give away spoilers... Great bartenders too.
Found this place by chance & the atmosphere is so cozy. We both love books so this bar was right up our alley. The 2 cocktails we had were delicious & the server was very efficient. We tried the chorizo dish from the bar menu and were very pleased. If we come back to S.A again we will come back for sure.

Love this little bar. Great atmosphere and delicious food to nibble on while sampling from a small, but interesting wine list and extensive spirits and cocktails.
The vibe is welcoming, sort of old fashioned clubby and warm and the look and design of this small space really works.
Nice glassware (no Kmart cheap water glasses masquerading as appropriate wine receptacles here!) and food served attractively.
Good sized serves to help manage the alcohol content of the seriously yummy cocktails
One of my favourites😊
When you enter the Bibliotheca Bar you are immediately greeted by a dimly lit room surrounded by books and candle-lit tables. The bar has a good selection of alcoholic beverages and knowledgable staff who are able to recommend a drink based on your preferences. The only thing letting this place down is the Melbourne pricing; although it is well worth it if you are looking for a slightly classy night out with a date, or a place to have a philosophical conversation with friends over a glass of whiskey or wine.
Cocktail was good. Good vibe (quiet) atmosphere. $24 for a dirty martini was over priced for a small cocktail glass.
Liked the decor but would be an expensive night if you were there for a long time.
Well, this was the second place we went to that night. On a quiet cocktail bar crawl, we really felt like this one was quite a serendipitous find.
Marina and Roman, the owners of the bar were behind the bar. A little bit quiet, but very friendly and engaging, brilliant cocktails! The book exchange was an unexpected touch.
Definitely great for a night where you want to indulge in some cocktails, light foods and a conversation. The ambience extremely classy and pleasant!
You won't find anything done on "el cheapo".. every detail considered, every move is considered. A very very pleasant night for those wanting something classy!
Loved the adventure for the palate! Brilliant Martini!!!!
A work colleague suggested stopping in here after she spotted it during the day. A more perfect bar doesn't exist - it's tucked away in a little laneway, they have soft jazz playing so you can hear people talk, the decor and lighting is perfect and the drinks are absolutely superb. 18 year olds looking to get wasted with cheap, sugary booze, this is not the place for you. This is a bar for people that are serious about drinking the good stuff, because the proprieters take great pride in their craft. I had the Master & Margarita, the Hemingway Daquiri and I also tried a friend's Mai Tai. They were all outstanding. I can't wait to go back to Adelaide so I can sample more.
This is a great place for good drinks and music. Reminds me when I was living in America. Bartenders were very entertaining. Staff need to be a little more attentive to orders but a wonderful place to have a nice time. And guys add more quirky art and books around the place. Will definitely be going back.
Amongst a flood of small bars opening up on the Adelaide scene, The Bibliotheca Bar & Book Exchange is trying to do things a little differently. Rather than attempting to impress crowds hungry for drinks served in jam jars and the craziest cocktail menu in the CBD, Bibliotheca strips drinking back to its roots with a large menu heavy with quality spirits from all corners of the globe.
Love this place. A very nice quiet place to have a talk. Everything is just right. The atmosphere is good, highly recommended the 'four pillars' gin, it will definitely surprise you of the smoothness and taste with the alcohol mixture.

It's a hidden gem, word of mouth travels far! It's unique setting is mysterious and is cocktail menu is has unusual concoctions on it so definitely if you are after something different to drink this is the place to be adventurous. If you are after something different this place is a definite must!
You could come here as a solo patron and sit and read a book because the setting allows for that or come with a bunch of friends that's also a option.
It's a little dark inside but is also romantic for a cocktail bar!
And the service was top too.
One of a kind. Unlike most bars, Bibliotheca gets the classics right with old fashioned cocktails made with care and quality spirits. The wide variety of liquor on offer is astounding with varieties from around the globe including ultra premium spirits such as Beluga Gold Line Vodka straight from Russia. The bar itself is moody and cosy and a great place to converse with friends or read (yes they have a lot of books). It's my new favourite spot for after work drinks. P.s. The sandwiches are a must!
We attended an event at The Bibliotheca Bar & Book Exchange last week. Tucked away on 28 Gresham Street, Adelaide (just of Hindley Street near the King William Road end), this is yet another sign that things are changing in the Hindley precinct. Entering, it felt like an old gentleman’s library mixed with a classic timeless bar. Dim lit lights with green bankers lamps on the bar counter. Behind the bar was a chap named Roman and he definitely knew his way around the cocktails. An interesting find was that it is actually a book exchange so you can pick a book up, read it and pop back to return and get another. Swap it with one of your own perhaps. As the name suggests, Bibliotheca means library. The other option is you can read your favourite novel in the bar though I would be useless reading small print after a few beers! I hope they have enough picture books. Cocktail Menu It's not all about drinks here either. A blackboard menu of platters and open sandwiches provide some gourmet dining options. Platters were available on the night with a selection of local and imported meats and
