Queen Street Cafe not only has an iconic presence in the Croydon/Brompton area but, the standard of food and consistency is extremely high!
Friendly staff with an overwhelming feeling of being welcomed into a home!
If you haven’t been there, you really must as it is definitely better than most of the new breakfast haunts of Adelaide!
These guys have been around awhile and that’s why they know their stuff!
Our regular coffee spot, friendly staff and awesome coffee and they stay open way more hours than any other place on queen st.
The service here was fantastic. Such lovely staff and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious - I had the baked eggs and absolutely loved it. Coffee was great and so was the juice. Highly recommend this urban gem.
Lovely friendly staff. Prompt service. The food was amazing. And sitting outside is dog friendly. Bonus!
Always a favourite! Fab little spot with great coffee and great food!
We had lunch at the Queen st Cafe yesterday, it's was fantastic !! We were a bit early and breakfast was still in full swing. Definatly going for breaky next time. The plates that were zooming out looked divine.
Service was great, very friendly. Meals were to die for.
Great coffee and amazing food! Little gem of western Adelaide suburbs.

Great food & even better service. Everyone has a smile on their face & are very helpful. Always happy! Thanks guys
Such great & friendly service! I had the French Toast with poached pear & vanilla bean cream - sooo good! Friends had a frittata & other the scrambled eggs & mushrooms.
Great food and friendly staff, will be going to the Queens Street Cafe more often :-)
I go here with my boyfriend for the French toast. It's a game changer!
Lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere
Definitely a must in terms of brunch places. Such a cute little establishment. The staff were very accommodating and professional. The food was also pretty good. That shakshouka is a must try. Highly recommend
WOW! I wasn’t sure what to expect when we stumbled upon this place. I chose the Asian pulled pork for lunch and the serving size was generous and the dish itself was everything you’d expect from a pulled pork and Asian slaw combo! Crunchy, delicious and yet still light. I will be coming back for another serve of this. All of those who attended with me had the chicken curry which also looked good.
Two fantastic breakfast meals. The French Toast with poached pears and cream was truly decadent for a start.
The Haloumi with asparagus, Basil pesto Scrambled eggs was really rich and yummy.
The service was quick and friendly.
Good coffee and fresh juices
The food here is fantastic! Ordered the Shakshuka - decent serve, full of flavour, perfectly poached eggs. Finished of with an Apple Tarte Tatin. Plus the staff are lovely and the whole experience was perfect.
This hidden gem is a must try for queen st. Coffees great, foods good and service is fantastic. Been here many times and they haven’t disappointed. My recent visit they were very accommodating to my allergies which I truly appreciate. Thanks guys!
Really lovely cafe, set amongst a lot of cute little cafes. Great casual “hipster” vibe, really delicious food with real ingredients. Will go back many times!
I walked into this cafe with no expectations at all. Had a sip of my coffee and it was heavenly. I ordered the pork dish with the asian slaw and oh my gosh. This dish was packed with flavour. It was so good I finished it in five minutes.
Oh hell, this is phenom!!! After having this bookmarked forever & a day I took the plunge & then accidentally went twice in a week. Y U M. Absolutely HAD to go here to eat the porridge and honestly, didn't know porridge could be so good???? Because usually it's not?????? ?? ? ? ? Not a problem at queen st. Cooked in almond milk and served with yoghurt (who even THINKS of this combo???????? ? ?? It's my new favourite thing to do) and lots of poached rhubarb and apple and something crumbly and crunchy & delish. With a great looking menu for all hours of the day I'm sure to make my way out here again
Friendly staff and atmosphere, delicious food with a gorgeous presentation. Coffee was great and the store was easy to locate from the street. Menu variety was appealing. I will be back!
Nice find in the morning.
The good: the brown mushroom omelette was great, good portion size. Ambiance is welcoming. Very friendly and quick service.
The not so good: Toilet is not the greatest.
Yes, I would go back and enjoy breakfast.
Came here on a weekday morning for some brunch. Nice little place in Croydon. The ambience of the cafe - very laid back and well lit. Despite them being short staffed, service standard was still at a high. The food itself was well presented. We got the scrambled eggs, feta and smoked salmon and the shakshuka. The shakshuka had good strong flavours - only negative is that I'd prefer more bread as the dish alone is a bit salty for my liking. Scrambled eggs were nice and silky and the feta serving was quite generous. Quite happy with our dining experience here and would happily come back again!
Elizabeth Street is the continuation of Queen Street and it is in Elizabeth Street that you will find Queen Street Cafe. It is in a group of old shops, that are now cafes, clothing shops, a second hand shop, hairdresser and other niche businesses. An interesting place to visit and spend time in the cafe and then browse the shops.
The cafe has the usual retro look that is now 'done to death' in Adelaide cafes but it is pleasant with plenty of seating both inside (including couches) and outside on the footpath. Even though Elizabeth Street is a busy through road, on the day we were there it was easy to get parking right out the front. On busy days it may be necessary to park further away in the leafy side streets.
We ordered haloumi with asparagus, pesto and scrambled eggs; and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Both were generous sizes and tasty although the scrambled eggs were more of a omelette consistency. The first coffees were both good - espresso and latte.
There was only one other person in the cafe when we were there. We wanted to order a second coffee but the waitress was having an extended conversation with this person and was very inattentive to us - not noticing that we kept looking in her direction and making it obvious that we wanted to order something else. In the end I went up to the counter - which is really unacceptable especially when it was so quiet. The coffees took quite a long time to come and were a very different quality to the first ones - tasted different and were nowhere near as good. The man who served us was friendly - the other staff member would do well to use him as a role model.
Summary: service - good from one staff member, inattentive from the other; coffee - first one great, second one not so good; food good sized serves and generally well cooked and presented. Worth a try? Yes if you haven't been before give it a try to see for yourself.
Have eaten here two wknds in a row. Delicious coffee and I enjoyed the French toast with poached pears. Very friendly service, they even brought out a water bowl for my dog.
I've written about Queen Street Cafe before but had to tell you about their new Winter menu. I was completely sold on the Green Chicken curry just from the amazing smell as it was served to the table next to me. I wasn't disappointed.. The sauce was packed full of flavour & the chicken cooked to perfection. An absolute perfect lunch for a winter's day.
Good dirty chai latte though it may be a little bit bitter to somebody.
The smoked salmon with scramble egg and the asparagus with halloumi and pesto are really good. The prize are quite affoardable, given that the dishes are quite big. Really recommnend people to come here and have a try.
The portion of the dishes were big and enough to fill our stomach! I love how they cooked the scrambled eggs, they were tasty and fluffy and smooth!!!They were freshly made and taste amazing!!The price are reasonable. Will definitely come back!!!Bambi Lam
Another one of my old brunch favourites that I used to go to nearly every weekend when I lived in the north western suburbs. My weak mocha was perfectly balanced and nicely frothed just the way I like it. My fresh pineapple and mint juice tasted beautiful but really needed ice to make it cold. I ordered the shakshouka which came with Spanish chorizo, toast, rocket and parmesan on top.

Good coffee. Plenty of food options. Favourite is the baked eggs with tequila beans and jalapeños! They also serve wine and beer, perfect for a wind down breakfast after a night shift!
Tried this place yesterday and what an awesome spot in the middle of a street I now need to try all cafes on, and that I will most definitely return to! Had warm welcoming service and fantastic food. Small & cosy, though we had a lovely spot outside which appears dog friendly too which I love 😊
I had halumi, scrambled eggs & asparagus and added avo & salmon. ($4 add ons great value!) To be honest it was big enough without the add ons, and accompanied with a choc peanut butter milkshake, I was full to the brim!! Deelish spot! 👌😀
We popped in for lunch on a Sunday and managed to find a free table.
My husband ordered the special - seafood linguini with prawns, calamari, pipis and baby sinch served in a beurre noisette sauce (without the chilli for him!). It was a good sized dish of pasta with plenty of large pieces of seafood. The sauce was creamy with a hint of lemon and he just wanted to mop it all up with a piece of bread!
I ordered the chargrilled chicken sandwich with pesto, provolone, aioli, avocado, rocket and tomato on turkish. I didn't realise this was an open sandwich. The chicken was tender and there was a good amount of tangy pesto. The tomato was nicely sliced and the rocket piled up on top. A very enjoyable dish.
The staff were very friendly.
I had the baked eggs and my breakfast buddy had the salmon toast. Was delicious. Baked eggs was nice and spicy with chorizo and perfectly cooked. The salmon toast was tasty too but get extra avocado. You can add extras to your dish at an extra cost. Bacon was perfectly crisp. Really good hearty breakfast to start the day. Was not too impressed with the juice though. Decent coffee

cute little place we like to go to for breakfast, it's fairly busy most of the time so I do find that the service isn't always great but as for the food I can't fault it, everything tastes amazing and fresh every time!
One of my favourites to frequent in my neck of the woods, never had a bad coffee and the food is easy, delicious and wholesome. Recommend their scrambled eggs, so fluffy and tasty, I'd imagine they are loaded with butter but what's a decadent breakfast once in a while?
How should I bring my baby in?: I've always carried my baby in my arms or in a capsule, but you can easily wheel a pram about this place. Once you've negotiated the step at the entry, however the staff are usually at front of house to greet you and will help you lift the pram up. They also have high chairs which are always offered :)
I really like the food and coffee here but I didn't have a particularly good experience with the waitress on our most recent visit. She seemed to be in a really grumpy mood and didn't seem to know a lot about the menu items either.
Great atmosphere - good service. Busy so had a bit of a wait it worth it. Coffee great and floor staff knew details about menu items. Definitely going back there.
Once you fight your way through the cardigans and beards you'll enjoy the delicious wholesome food this place dishes up. Be sure to soak your hair in craft beer before you go.
Freakin love this place! The baked eggs are awesome and the guys that run the place are super nice! Wish I could go here more often, it's probably my favourite breakfast joint!
Have been a regular for the past 2 years, always friendly staff and efficient service. Good coffee and an unique menu with a bit of everything. Menu changes regularly with new additions including daily specials on the board. All items are priced well for the quantity and quality you get. Just try their lamb shoulder and sweet potato for lunch!
Have been to this place several times and have found the food to be tasty and the coffee great. I did find the previous owners menu a little more creative and exciting, however the new owners still deliver on taste. Service is friendly and efficient. Love the quirky retro decor and vibe!
Yum! Yum! Yum! Love this place. We don't get here often as we live in Athelstone 30mins away but it is always worth the drive. My niece Madison 8 and nephew Brian 15 always clean their plates. Coffee is great & friendly service. Highly recommend Queen Street Cafe for a fresh yummy bite! 5/5 from me!
Very impressed. Nice retro feel. Happy to have stumbled upon this place. Superb tasting meals at a very reasonable price. Super friendly and caring staff. Relaxing atmosphere. I can see this place soon becoming my favourite hang out for coffee and a filling brekkie/lunch
We had great food, efficient table service (some friendlier than others, but no one was rude) and will definitely be going back.
Consistent. I've frequented this place several times and have always found their food to be consistently good and service friendly. The menu is standard SA breakfast/brunch fare and I have noticed that it changes from time to time.
Great Lunch. Went recently and had pulled lamb shoulder warm salad with yoghurt dressing and frekkeh. Was absolutely delicious and a steal at approx $20. Coffee v good too

Lovely cafe! Lovely people!. Lovely people! Lovely cafe! Since starting a job nearby I've become a regular of the Queen St Cafe. I have never once received bad service. I'm really shocked by the recent negative reviews. The staff are always helpful and friendly and over time I've got to know them. I can't imagine some of the scenarios described. The food is always nice and the coffee is great. About bread being served with a dish is a misunderstanding. I have special dietary requirements too and I make a point of specifying what I need when I order. Keep doing what you're doing Queen St. Your cafe is great and if others receive even half the service I do, they'd have to also be happy customers! I'm happy to call it my local!!! The crème brûlée is super yum too!
Just try it for yourself!. There are new owners so the older reviews are irrelevant. The staff are polite and friendly without being fake. Recent negative reviews seem to be motivated by malice. Closer inspection of Amy_Grant41's account would indicate she posted three reviews, all with a reference to race and all incredibly negative about the three shops on the same block, on the same day at the same time. Hmm, I'll leave that up to you to infer what you will. Whatever the case, this is a good cafe and I highly recommend it.
I like it!. My boyfriend and I frequent this Cafe when he just feel like a nice brunch or light lunch. We've never had poor service. Suprised with all the poor/negative reviews about the staff. Always friendly, but don't suck up - maybe that's what people find rude?
It's pretty casual, just go in and find a seat and normally within minutes they've taken your order and 5 minutes later your food is out. High quality food for a cute cafe. A friend of mine likes their steak sandwich done a certain way and they always cater to him when he asks.
I agree that it's odd that they don't state whether bread/sourdough is included on some of their menu items (eg. the eggs with spinach and mushrooms) but that's easily fixed.
I gave it a "like" as there was nothing wrong with our experience as such - however, we probably won't be back. Food was ok, not great, and certainly nothing worthy charging such a premium price for.
If you're a local, you'd be happy with this coffee spot, but don't bother driving out of your way for breakfast or brunch.
Love it. Before I went to Queen Street Cafe with friends I checked out the reviews and was astonished at the number of bad ones...but my friend, who's a regular there, had booked it and I knew that she wouldn't invite finds somewhere bad. And she didn't! :-) It was great - friendly, professional service, gorgeous food, well-priced and fab atmosphere with a happy buzz. So I can only assume that the naysayers on this site for some reason had a completely different experience...and I agree with the positive reviews. I live quite some distance from Croydon, but am left with lovely memories and admiration for the whole feel of Elizabeth Street - and really look forward to going back soon.
First breakfast experience here was good. Walked in off the street and seated ourselves at the breakfast bar as the tables were full. I quite liked the rustic vintage look and feel of the cafe and hoped the food would measure up. Our waiter was polite and served us with a smile. We ordered poached eggs, spinach and mushrooms with a side of crispy bacon. I love how they crisped the bacon under a open flame grill. I enjoyed my eggs and bacon, my mushrooms were really tasty as well. I recommend sitting at the breakfast bar to watch the cooks whip up meals while you enjoy yours. I will be back!
We used to come here every weekend and the service has become rude. Apparently you cannot book tables however the last three weeks we have been told to hurry up as a stupid running group is coming in.
Love this Cafe!!!! It has soul, substance, delicious food, atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the coffee excellent. The owner is down to earth and has injected his own touch here. 10/10
It's all about the vibe. Love this place.
Best coffee in Adelaide.
Great food. Excellent service.
Pricey but substantial blt ... staff curt but not rude as some have said. overall decent working lunch. clientele seem to be local moms and families
My favourite spot in Adelaide. I don't understand all the reviews about it being so pricey - if it's beyond your budget then don't go there! The food here has always been amazing - it's definitely worth the cost. Never, ever had a bad meal. The coffee is outstanding as well. I've been here well over a dozen times for breakfast and lunch, and never fails to disappoint. All the staff here are great too.
Try the rustic baked beans - perfect on a cold winter morning.
Love this place.... always have. Staff always great.... pity the booze & juices etc is so limited.... but love the joint anyway
Ben amazing breakfast x 3 and as always great host and shows how it's done!
Nice food, however a bit pricey! I ordered the waffles and only received one very small one with a little pile of berries and a dollop of cream - was approx $13!
Great coffee, friendly staff. thanks. always a guaranteed gem when i'm out this side of town for a reliable coffee. great house baked beans. not common in cafes, well done. i make them at home sometimes but a treat to have them at a lovely little cafe like this. go there to try the house beans people!!
Really like scrambled eggs with crab. It was Devine.
Coffee was just ok! by the way we were really enjoy.
Holy sh!t! This was the best brunch venue we have been to by far! on a sunday, it was busy but not chaotic, the service was excellent and the food.... Exceptional! The things they do with baby spinach. This place is def going to be a regular!
Great coffee.. Dropped in for a quick coffee on Monday. Sublime.
I went here yesterday with a friend after haven't being for two years. It was a Wednesday morning, business was steady and the staff were accommodating. Coffees came out in next to no time and my chai latte was hot as requested and not overly sweet. I ordered the berry waffles and they were lovely. I said to my friend that the prices are a lot cheaper from what I remember. She told me that management had changed which included lowering menu prices and adding table service. I was impressed by this change as i found the service to be lacking and menu was overcharged. However, a word of caution. Try to avoid the Saturday or au day rush for those who are not familiar with the weekend chaos on Queen St. The experience would be more enjoyable for a week day.
LOVE this cafe. I live round the corner from Queen Street and so I could go to any of the cafes on that strip - and EVERY time I find myself back at the original - Queen St Cafe - because it is just by far the friendliest, happiest place to spend a weekday morning (writing, reading, catching up with someone on the green sofa by the heater) or a weekend day (sitting against cushions in the window seat reading the paper; sitting outside, watching the world go by and meeting the many dogs whose owners come here).
The coffee is to die for; the toasted sandwiches are great - that's pretty much all I ever order, although they do lots of other stuff, particularly brekkies.
I wrote a lot of my PhD in this cafe so it holds fond memories for me - the staff are consistently friendly and sweet. There are some reviews on this site that suggest otherwise - but you do have to ask just how difficult and arrogant these customers, themselves, might have been to provoke the responses they describe. Anyway - I spend a lot of time in cafes, often in cities other than Adelaide, and I really do think Queen Street compares favourably to the best of them.
Next Door. I found this place because i was looking for Red Door Bakery, next door. is quite an interesting breakfast / brunch place. flavours are great, have to say that, not many restaurant in Adelaide can get right flavours on the place. but a bit hard to get seats. very small place but worth for the wait.
Its just always a great breakfast. They use beautiful produce and its not just a boring same as everywhere type breakfast. You may pay a little extra but you can always notice the difference. Love it
Almost Excellent. We went looking for another breakfast spot on the weekend and decided to check out the Queen St Cafe.
The atmosphere was nice, the place was full of sun, the staff were chatty and the food was top-notch.
If the coffees hadn't been very late it would have been excellent.
Best waffles in adelaide. This place is buzzing on a saturday morning, it is the place to be. Whilst the coffee was rushed and not the best the breakfast was to die for. Waffles or poached eggs you can't go wrong. Can't wait to go back for breakfast.
Very nice food but a butt.... Very nice food but a bit pricey and small.
Coffee was excellent
Went there for breakfast/brunch and was very surprised by the quality of the food. Very East Terrace Continental meets the suburbs. My friend had the claypot which looked delicious. Coffee was also of a high standard. Will come back
Cool place. Very funky, very cool. Love the mix of seating - outdoors, banquette, comfy lounges and breakfast bar. Great menu - had a hard time picking whether to have breakfast or lunch. Good wine list. Excellent coffee. The breakfasts were great but after seeing the lunch meals come out we will have to return. Even though it was busy our meals came out promptly. Staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy their work.
Once the scrambled eggs were set done on the table, it just wafted of delicious-ness. Looked great, smelt great and tasted great. This dish was divine – tasty mushrooms, soft and fluffy egg paired with toasted and crunchy bread
The quality of food and coffee was good, although the menu was a little pricey. My crab omelette at $19 was pretty good value but my dining companion’s avocado on toast wasn’t so (I can’t remember how much it cost, but I remember thinking at the time that it was a hell of a lot more than what it should be). Service was quite slow and fairly indifferent.
Australia has no lack of brunch places. During our previous visit to the Red Door Bakery, we passed by another brunch place called the Queen St Cafe, we then made a mental note that we would have to return to try it some day. Many weeks later, we were back, with two other friends in tow.
Queen Street Cafe has gone through a mini revamp and the best bit about it? They’re now open 7 days a week (previously Mondays and Tuesdays were closed)! Booya!

My brother-in-law, Andrew, is leaving for Germany next week and is going for an indefinite time. A meal fit for a king was called for so we headed for Queen Street Cafe in Croydon (just Google it for the contact details - no website). I've been going to t
Your reviewer was attracted the Queen Street Café because it was established by the same people who established the Duthy Street Deli which has been reviewed here a couple of times. The Queen Street Café was one of the first restaurants to combine the co
This is an amazing place to have your meals. I usually go here for my Saturday breakfasts and end up spending 2 hours, enjoying the atmosphere and the service.
The hosts are awesome, making you comfortable straight away and showing real interest to chat with you.
The food is delicious and well presented.
Conveniently located near a children's park, with ample parking spaces around.
Highly recommended!
Been here a couple times now and every time they have been great! The staff are super friendly, the coffee is good and the food is yummy! Seating out front is nice and shaded and is certainly the pic of where to sit. The menu is an all day breakfast/brunch/lunch selection which I personally enjoy. I love crispy bacon and the bacon is here is nice and thin and comes out perfectly crispy!
Friendly staff plus really good and very filling food!
Flat white and mocha were both bomb!!! 👌No bitter taste at all 👏
Lovely food, cosy location that was well spaced out as to not be over crowded. Excellent coffee and super friendly staff. Food was great with a range of options available. Well priced for decent serving size and quality.
Beautifully prepared food and omg the french toast was the most softest delicate fluffyish french toast and oh gosh the poach pear. The others loved the food as well definitely worth a visit
Lovely breakfast for a good price. Nice little rustic cafe in a quiet street
