I had a fabulous lunch with a good friend as part of a visit to Adelaide from Melbourne goforr the weekend. Both the food and the bottle of wine were welcome prices and of extremely high quality. The staff serving us were happy and welcoming and really felt at home!! Its a pub i will visit again and again when i visit adelaide. Congratulations to the arab steed and all staff and management
Wonderful customer service went above and beyond our expectations. Great meals friendly staff. Great spot highly recommend it
We had the best night :D
The staff were happy and friendly which makes the whole dining moment a really memorable experience, nothing was difficult and the food & drinks were generous and delicious :D
We will be back :D
Absolutely great food and service! And omg the cocktails are the best in Adelaide! Highly recommend
A consistently great venue to have a meal with family and friends. Fantastic staff, sensible prices, great range of beers and wines, a home away from home.
Great service and great food will be back to try more of their tasting menu
Here on a Saturday night with a party of five others.
The setting is pleasant enough although the modular combined alcoves and seating look a bit like something from a 70s sci fi film.
Friendly service by pleasant people saw us seated quickly with a couple of menus - the regular job and the daily specials list.
We ordered two serves of buffalo wings, one served with blue cheese aoli and one with BBQ sauce, zucchini and haloumi fritters, roast beef, lambs fry and bacon and a steak sandwich.
The food was a little hit and miss. The buffalo wings were excellent, but the fritters were fairly greasy. The roast beef was pretty good without being outstanding. The steak sandwich was really good with egg and bacon and steak that was surprisingly tender (too often you get to chew and chew AND CHEW with one of these things) but the lambs fry was dry. The menu said it came with "creamy mashed potato" but arrived with chips, which didn't help the dryness thing. Also the bacon was well beyond "crisp" and was heading into the "burnt" zone. (And a presentation thing... if the gravy for the liver and bacon had been over the top we probably wouldn't have noticed how crispy dark the meat was. Instead it was served in a jug on the side with the meat left bare, which made the problem all the more obvious.)
So really good food, average food and disappointing food all in the one serve.
Three of the group went for dessert which arrived in HUGE serves - Eton Mess (really good) and sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce (no idea what this was like because the eighteen year old who ordered it was scoffing it down so fast that he wasn't able to talk)
You can have a great night here if you order the right things. But it seems a bit unpredictable
As far as pubs go this has fast become one of my all time favourites. Really good quality pub food and takeaway options for people not wanting to eat in. Good portions, no one is ever left feeling hungry.. it's simple not possible. Fast and usually friendly service. Great atmosphere and non threatening vibes. Suitable for all ages and people with families wanting to go out for a meal.
Pub with decent pub food and a lively and cozy ambience. My friend wanted to go here specifically for the chicken schnitzel which did admittedly look different from others I've seen; somehow more serrated and heavily breaded than usual. I personally found it a bit plain but that's really the worst I can say about it. Like the burger I had, both were perfectly adequate.
The first time I went to this restaurant was over 20 years ago.. And still loving it! Generous serves very hearty pub grub.. Try the schnitzel.
This hotel has very good food and the service well
Second to none.
A great hotel
Great service
Great meals
Great hotel
Friendly and Relaxed. We had a table of six and all ordered something different. Everyone was happy with their meals, and there wasn't much of a wait considering it was a busy Friday night. Friendly service and nice outdoor seating.
Great spot if you're after a pub meal. It still has the old school feeling of a pub (serve bar snacks at after work drinks) but a nice modern menu
Ate dinner there last week enjoyed the crumbed prawns intensely.. Great value and very friendly service will return :)
OK pub fare.. The service and the kids meals at this pub are very good. The dining area is a tad small, and the meals are of a good portion, but will not take out any awards. It would only take small tweaks to make the eating here great, such as changing up where the chicken, meat and chips are sourced. Explore other pubs for a comparison.
Good pub. Grumble belly or whoever i think is pretty rough in their review. I have had several good meals here and the chef is most definitely qualified. good consistent food run by good consistent publicans. a good wine list and comfortable dining experience.
Not sure about the reno. Always liked this pub, but not sure about the renovation. Hopefully it wont change the place.

+4.5
To our surprise, this place was very nicely renovated. The ambience was great, not too busy, very relaxing. Service was superb, especially the lady that was working that morning. They had a couple of booths and they were very comfortable to sit in. Free wi-fi was available. Great range of breakfast items to choose from. Scrambled eggs with salmon worked well and not salty like some places. Pancakes with blueberries were so fresh and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
