Open steak sandwich was top notch! service was fast and friendly. One of the best watermelon based juices i have ever had! This place is great since the new management has taken over and will definitely be going back. Would recommend 5/5
Super friendly staff! Only thing is that it takes a long time to order. The food is lovely so I definitely recommend this place
Love this place. Seriously amazing food, super friendly staff, fast wi-fi, and freelancer friendly!
amazing coffee & yummy food. great staff - this is a must-eat on your Adelaide brunch list
Every time I go here (at least 8 times) it’s always amazing and the coffee is sooo good. Service is always good too. Try their poached egg with avocado its like nothing you have ever tasted! Croissants are the best in Adelaide don’t know where they get them from.
This was our second visit to The Project. All of the staff a genuinely friendly and fun to have some playful banter with, which makes your whole visit more memorable.
Food is great, service is quick, coffee great......You can even buy their large sourdough bread, baked on the premises for only $7!!!!
All very yummi.......why wouldn't you come here.
P.S.....need to book, as they get busy quickly on Sundays.
And!!!!!.......check out the funky 'wave motion' style ceiling.....all made out if wooden spoons......
Have visited a few times now and have never been disappointed. Beautiful fresh food, excellent coffee an great friendly customer service. Always enjoy coming here.
Great staff and atmosphere, and they're just starting with some awesome vegan options. Loved it - the quinoa chili stuffed sweet potato was fantastic, and with a generous amount of guacamole accompaniment. <3
The food was divine, the coffee was superb, and the amazing service was delivered with a smile! I'd certainly recommend these guys!
Had an awesome vegan lunch with friends at a cool vibed cafe down the east end of Flinders street and got to chat to a cute vegan cook! All of the staff were friendly and lovely..I will definately come back, just as long as they keep up the vegan deliciousness!
Great place. Coffee was excellent. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast. The bread was freshly baked and delicious!
Absolutely gorgeous place for brunch. Tiny and petite. The staff is wonderful, the brunch menu is pretty good, with most of the essentials covered. We had the green eggs and the chimichurri mushrooms with toast and egg. With home brewed coffee and chai. Lovely experience, perfect place for a beautiful sunny weekend morning.
Great decor and super friendly staff created a welcoming vibe and fun atmosphere! I ordered the smoked salmon salad and OMG this is a winner!!! It came with watermelon radish, snow pea sprouts and lightly cooked sugar snap peas, which were all tossed in a tasty citrus vinaigrette. We also ordered the mushroom dish which was great too- a little heavy for me, but the chimichurri was a light and creative touch!
Overall I would highly recommend this quaint little spot, and can’t fault the service and food! Will be back again soon!
Lovely little place only a short walk from our apartment on our weekend trip to Adelaide. Upon walking in, the decor was cool...the wooden spoons in the ceiling were amazing!!!
Service was excellent and attentive. The menu (for our weekend brunch) was not hugely extensive, but perfectly appropriate.
We had the Mushroom Ragu, French Toast, Granola and eggs on toast. Everything was perfectly presented and tasted fantastic.
Definitely a place to return to!!!
Been coming here for a couple of years and it’s in my top 10 favourite brunch places in adelaide! Most definitely worth the visit, always busy and staff are always lovely!
A sweet but small cafe with so many breakfast meals I’ve never seen before. I need to go back again to try them all! Staff were friendly and the food was quick. Hot drinks can take a little while, there’s often a queue because they’re so good!
I ate from the breakfast menu, Clare Valley poached eggs, avacado & lime, peas, haloumi & sourdough // $19.00
In Adelaide for just one night, wanted a quick and easy breakfast close to my Air BNB. Had the choice of 2 within 100m and chose Flinders Street Project just based on the look of the place. Served quickly, tea with leaves (a must) came within minutes followed shortly by my eggs on toast. Heater on outside to keep the morning chill away is a nice touch. Overall everything as it should be, fast efficient service and a yummy breakfast to start the day.
Stopped in for lunch with a friend. Small menu but that suits me because otherwise I take forever to decide what I want. Ordered avocado and buffalo mozzarella on toast with salad, large serve, fresh and tasted great. I also had a coffee which was nice, could have been a bit warmer though and the cups are tiny for the price. Service was good and we weren’t kicked out the second we finished our meal which meant I got to continue catching up with my friend without feeling pressured to give up the table.
Great food with reasonable price. We gave the compliment to the chef who made the amazing dishes. I had poached eggs with avocado and lime sauce, poached eggs cooked perfectly and the sauce was very delightful. My boyfriend had a fish with wombok salad, made with attention to details and the taste is fantastic. Excelent service too!
Waked by and stopped for breakfast. Friendly greeting, quick and uncomplicated service.
Good standard selection of food and freshly baked goodies for the lovers of bread etc.
The good: Service, Chai Tea a must try, I recommend the coconut milk, yummy. Brevity was good as well.
The not so good: nothing really.
Would I go back? Yes
The weekend brunch menu is really good. We had the french toast which was just the right amount of sweetness and the bacon and eggs with chorizo and mushroom which were all cooked to perfection.
Always great breakfast .. good coffee too which is always a plus.. their must tries are the stuffed sweet potato, mushroom ragu as well as chilli scrambled eggs.
Great cafe to have brekkie at! Good prices and really friendly staff! It is also really warm and cosy during winter which is a definite plus! I had a dish with poached eggs, avocado and haloumi which was delicious!
Flinders Street Project is in such a cool relaxed setting. Staff and wonderful, super friendly and the food was great ! I had the bacon and eggs with a side of mushrooms and it was more than a filling breakfast and their Bircher muesli was to die for !
I've always wanted to come here seeing how pretty the food is. I got the two eggs (poached) with avo, bacon and Haloumi on sourdough and OMG - seriously one of the best I've had! Surprisingly the salad on top went with it. The service was friendly as well, including the cooks who were cooking right in front of us in the open kitchen as we were seated at the bar. A really cool cafe with a hipster vibe and amazing food.
Very friendly staff. Great coffee. Nice vibe - welcoming and un-pretentious. The menu has your usual breakfast items on there plus a few unusual items which is nice. I had the harissa scrambled eggs. Apart from needing slightly more heat (spicy) it was really tasty and a good serve.
This cafe was the most pleasant experience from the moment I walked in the door.
The staff were lovely and totally accommodating. The coffee was great, food delicious and they even had The Kooks playing - best breakfast background music.
I ordered eggs, mushrooms, tomato and avo. My food was quick but fresh.
Easily the best cafe I've been to in Adelaide.
I ordered the smashed avocado with peas, halloumi, and mint here and absolutely loved it. The serving size was generous, and all the components added a different dimension of flavour to the dish! It was creamy thanks to the avocado, slightly salty because of the halloumi, but still fresh because of the accompanying salad.
This was definitely one of my favourite smash avocado dishes I've had in Adelaide! Only thing is that like most sourdough bread, it was tough to cut into :( Also, for those wanting juices, it's good to note that it's not made fresh to order, but made in a jug in the morning to be served throughout the day :)
Loved this place! Awesome food, great location and the staff where all lovely! I generally go for the specials as they never let you down and there is always something new and exciting!
I took away a Bircher muesli with raspberry, apple, seeds & nuts ($9) this morning. The serving was a little small for the price, but it was decently filling. I was a little disappointed because there was no raspberry to be seen anywhere, even though it was listed as one of the ingredients on the menu. The muesli could have done with less sweetener (I'm not sure what they used, probably honey?), but very yummy nonetheless. I loved the soft, spiced chunks of apple throughout. I wish there were more nuts in the muesli though - for that extra crunch!
I came back for lunch and picked up a Lemongrass poached chicken salad ($19). The dish had kipfler potatoes, cos lettuce, water cress, sliced zucchini, seeds and some sort of white, creamy but light dressing. The chicken shredded apart relatively easily with my fork, but I think it would have been a bit dry if it wasn't covered in the creamy dressing. I really enjoyed the dish because it wasn't overly heavy, despite the white dressing and abundance of potatoes (which were perfectly cooked, by the way). The only gripe I have about the dish is the disproportionately small amount of greens. This might be a plus for some people, but when I order a salad I expect a higher proportion of veggies.
Overall, great quality food, but slightly pricier than your typical cafe. I wasn't blown away by Flinders Street Project but it did leave a good first impression.
Visiting Adelaide from Brisbane and like to find cafes whose menus appear as though they are trying hard to provide us with good food choices. This place succeeds on all fronts. Great food, very good coffee, great service & good vibe. The place was packed so we sat outside, still very comfortable, although on a windy day I would imagine it to be quite cold. FSP reminds me of The Grain Store in Melbourne, where we had a superb lunch last year. It's worth the effort to get down this end of Flinders St, the food will not disappoint.
For some of us this was a second visit to Flinders Street Project at 276 Flinders St, Adelaide. On this occasion we were invited by management and were keen to see what was in store for us. When you walk into the restaurant it instantly feels cosy and comfortable. We were seated on the long sharing table in the middle. The big windows make it nice and bright inside giving you feel of a "good morning" welcome!
It’s the Easter long weekend and I’m catching up with A since we had to cancel our hang out session last time. Adelaide has come such a long way. I remember the days when everything except for McDonalds was closed on public holidays. Now there are so many things to see and do and so many places that are open.
Second visit to Flinders Street Project for breakfast and it impressed again. French Toast was a very generous size, and tasty to boot. Savoury options are also great. Friendly and efficient staff throughout.
Breakfast is important. A nice breakfast is more important, especially on a holiday.
Flinders Street Project just fulfils this wish.
For us, the smoked salmon and the halloumi cheese were so nice, with the cozy environment and the great coffee.
If you happen to sit at the bar table, you are able to see how your breakfast is made.
The decor inside this cafe is quirky, wooden spoons hanging from the ceiling, rustic dishes and cutlery. Fresh juices here are amazing! The breakfast food is decent but rather expensive for what you get. Good spot for coffee or juice.
My favourite thing to do on a weekday day off is grab a book and head to a cafe for breakfast. Market st cafe and big table are my favs but I have found another to rotate into the list..the flinders st project. Great little place just tucked off hutt st with indoor and out door seating. I picked a table out in the sun and ordered the poached eggs with avo, lime, haloumi and added some bacon. I hadn't even finished the third page of my book and my drink and food had arrived! The food was a generous serving of every component, the eggs, haloumi and bacon all cooked perfectly. The light leaf and fennel salad on top is a nice touch, especially as I love fennel. The haloumi was awesome, yes known as the "squeaky" cheese but theirs was nice and soft, not chewy. Their house brewed chai is also delicious, no need to add the honey that is served with it. Service was friendly and as I mentioned quick! Can't wait to go back and try a different dish.
Great food and Coffee, excellent service in a nice quiet part of the city but not to far away from everything. Good spot for a quiet Sunday breakfast/brunch if your looking for one!
I really like this place, every savoury dish has been delicious so far. Servings generous and the staff are very attentive and welcoming despite how busy they are. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and try the sweet French toast the other day. Not a fan, sickly sweet and toast was dry. I'll be sticking to the savoury dishes next time.
Great feel, fresh and funky cafe. Staff were friendly and food was great, I had the special corn fritters, good sized serve and quick. Nice coffee as well, we will be back.
Good outdoor dining area, and staff range from dismissive to overly helpful. Great food. Weird chef specials, but all in all a great experience and food is very tasty.
We came across this place by accident and went in because it looked so inviting and the staff were very welcoming. The breakfast didn't disappoint, especially the pastries which are made on the premises. The big winner was the cinnamon scroll, heavenly!
Just right. Tasty bacon and $3 side of avo 👌🏻.
Flinders Street Project is a lovely little place for breakfast on the weekend. I would definitely recommend booking as it gets quite busy. Although it's not cheap, it's not overly expensive either, probably mid range. The meal sizes are decent so you shouldn't go home hungry. The food is pretty tasty with a nice little twist on every dish that makes it a bit more interesting then the standard egg on toast breakfast. It is open for lunch as well, but haven't tried that yet. The staff are cheerful and friendly. Service is quite good, even when they are busy you generally aren't waiting for too long.
Great coffee and excellent breakfast choices! I got the crispy potatoes and chorizo. I subbed the chorizo for blood sausage, a rare find in this city and it was delicious! Very generous serving of sausage too. The coffee was excellent and the juice was fresh. Nice seating outdoors too ok a nice day made it a great atmosphere. Will definitely go back!
Hadn't bean here before though I had regularly admired it from the outside. I had come here after a bit of ultrasound on my ankle (is this information necessary? No, but I really don't care). I don't care because go and eat all the food here and sit with the nice staff and watch the not so nice office workers but don't care cause the food is great.
I enjoyed (really enjoyed) the Moroccan style pork. Fresh salad on the side and a blood orange and cardamon cordial close at hand.
Place was busy with some grouse coffee and so many spoons on the roof you wonder is Ikea is out of stock.
Yumbo!!!
My first visit on a sunny Sunday morning. The place was buzzing and the vibe was great. I came with my boyfriend and as a couple we were seated immediately. Larger groups without bookings had to wait longer. So, it's probably a good idea to book.
Considering that it was a busy morning, it took slightly too long for anyone to take our order. While the coffees came reasonably quickly the food took about 40 minutes, a tad too long. The food was tasty and fresh. My boyfriend enjoyed his dish (poached eggs with haloumi, avocado and lime) and my beetroot relish with poached eggs was OK - it was a tad too vinegar-y for my liking.
While we enjoyed some aspects of this place, I am not 100% sure about it. Maybe a few more visits are in order.
One of the best breakfasts in town. The coffee is delicious and the food is gourmet without being pretentious. Everything that comes out of the kitchen looks amazing which means you need to keep coming back to try new things. My only criticism would be the espresso martini was not up to scratch (and could have been served in a martini glass!) - but the fresh juices with gin (or vodka!) are super yum. (NB am not an alcoholic...)
Stopped in for breakfast and sat at the bar. Got the poached eggs with avocado and halloumi and added bacon. The quality and taste of the food was top notch and reasonably priced for breakfast in town. Hats off to the chef, he was in the zone pushing out amazing looking meals. Coffee was grade A and the staff were very friendly. Will be back for sure.
Not so long ago, I went to the Delicious magazine dinner at The Flinders Street Project with chef Stewart Wesson. In 2012, Stewart won best Australian Young Chef in the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence awards. At that point he was working at the magnificent Bridgewater Mill. I hadn’t been to The Flinders Street Project yet so this was an excellent opportunity. Last time I’d had Stewart’s food was at Public CBD and I think his food’s even better these days.
Great food and ambience. Hours of opening aren't the best and do stop serving food early however food is great. Had a juice which was made in house and tasted great. Will go back.
Love their ceiling decoration (wooden spoon)! Small cafe with a friendly staff! Enjoyed their portion every meals! Like their pastries as well! 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice little cafe in town. Went in today while is raining, nice warm and cosy but probably a bit small in size for a crowded cafe like this. Staffs are generally friendly could have done with a bit more smile but I guess they are really busy. Only waited about 15-20mins for a table available. Excellent coffee - nicely brewed. There's few fresh juice with good combo. I had the go green which taste so delicious and healthy. Contains green apple, cucumber, spinach, kale and lime. I then have the brekky menu. The eggs are poached perfectly - egg yolk is runny and lightly wrapped around with this layer of egg white. Haloumi is really delicious, not too salty. The chorizo I add on was very tasty. The only let down I have is the ciabatta, avocado was spread on the ciabatta, I love my crispy ciabatta but it was way too soft. Overall, very enjoyable meal.
The Flinders Street Project is a delightful spot. Consistently good coffee and tasty breakfast options. A big tick for the delicious French toast!
We enjoyed a lovely brunch at this little place last Saturday. They were very busy, so we had to sit outside and the blankets provided were put to good use as it was a cool day. The coffees came out quickly, food was a bit slower but not a big issue. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked with some fresh greens piled on top of the sour dough and bacon. No complaints from us. Great ambience, tasty food, friendly staff all at a reasonable price.
Despite being a little out of the way for a weekday lunch for central CBD workers, The Flinders Street Project is absolutely worth a visit, or two, or three. A lot of effort has gone into this smaller than expected eatery which only opened in July last year.
Love this place. Seasonal ingredients and an inspired menu. But, service was average and only has spy as a milk alternative - no almond or coconut. Worth the visit despite this - poached eggs cooked to perfection. Go for brunch!!
Not long after my first visit to The Flinders Street Project, I was back on a Sunday with a few friends to treat ourselves to their yumminess. When we spied the espresso martini on their menu for a cheap $9.00, we knew we had to order one… even if it was a tad bit too early for one (or two)… hehe! Unfortunately, the espresso martini did not live up to our expectations. We thought it was quite the blunder actually, it wasn’t chilled nor creamy, and quite weak in terms of an ‘espresso’. Well… it was only $9! Onwards to the food, hopefully it fared better than our drinks…
This little place is raising the bar for all other cafes. Fresh and a good solid serve of excitement. Staff was simply amazing, extra thumbs up for the compliment!
Food did not disappointment at all. We had the pork belly and the lamb shoulder, both were sizeable and delish!
Definitely, demands another visit! "I'll be back!
Lovely coffee and beautiful food, absolutely loved it!
Went for coffee one Saturday morning and also tried two of the Danishes, hazelnut & rhubarb/custard both where delicious. Atmosphere was nice, chilled & relaxed and love the fit out, spoons on the roof are very cool. It has a very urban feel about it & the coffee was superb. Breakfast menu looks good will have to give it a go!
Simply amazing- a gem for Adelaide
Flinders St Project. Great coffee and baked goods. Service was a little bit lacking. Will be back to try a bit more off the menu.
Visiting from Melb, This Was the Most Amazing Surprise. Best Food in Adelaide. Best Lamb I Have Had. Wish They Were Open Sunday. Lamb shoulder was succulent with fennel and orange salad, not a combo I would have thought of, genius!
Simple. I had the trio of Smørrebrød (little Danish open sandwiches).
The bread was delicious and surprisingly filling for such a slender slice. The toppings were all perfectly balanced, the simplicity of the combinations really highlighting the quality of each ingredient. A lovely light lunch for only $10.
Great spot. Ate today for lunch. I had pumpkin soup which was divine. The sumac, roasted pumpkin seeds and feta sprinkled on top made it amazing. My friend had three of the Danish bread which she enjoyed. Wooden spoon installation pretty cool and all staff except the chef were happy. He needs to learn to smile if he is going to be on show out the front.
Delightful. Perfect lunch - fast service and the open sandwiches were a delight to the eyes and the appetite! Lovely fresh crusty bread, delicious salmon, goats cheese and chicken (separately!), and just the right size - so many places have massive servings that don't appeal for lunch. So glad I walked past on the way to work and went back for lunch as I loved the look of this little restaurant. Will definitely be back, with friends and family; perfect!
Pretty good coffee. Menu seems good too. Should open on weekends if they don't already.

Always on the lookout for somewhere new to have lunch, a few of us ... decided to give Flinders Street Project a go. Flinders Street Project has just been awarded best Cafe as part of the 2014 Advertiser Food Awards....We opted for some smaller items selecting the trio of Danish open sandwiches. There are four to choose from (Pork Belly Terrine, Poached Chicken, Goats Cheese and Salmon). Overall, the three sandwiches were tasty and a good option for lunch.
On the quieter end of the city, is a new go-to spot for coffee lovers, breakfast eaters, brunchers and lunchers—The Flinders Street Project. It had been on my radar for a few weeks after spying vibrant, seasonal and tasty looking offerings on their instagram , so when it was time for an overdue catch up with F, I quickly made a lunch reservation (extra points for taking reservations I say!). The Flinders Street Project is located in a leafy spot in the city towards the east end, it sits on Flinders Street towards the end, just before hitting Hutt Street if you’re travelling from the west end of the CBD. The first thing you’ll notice as you enter the premises is the ceiling. Seriously, so cool! The ‘Ten Thousand Spoons’ by Australian artist Megan Roodenrys has wooden spoons covering the entire ceiling inside the cafe, but displayed in a way that looks like the spoons are in waves. If that fails to put a smile of appreciation and creativity on your face, then surely their coffee and food will! Freshly baked bread for sale My companions ordered from the lunch menu, all of which sounded fresh and delicious: SA Gulf prawns, avocado, sweet and sour chilli and fresh apple; $24,00 Slow cooked lamb shoulder, labne, pomegranate, focaccia and fennel salad; $18.00 I, on the other hand, ordered something a little smaller, Smørrebrød or Danish open sandwiches. They’re priced at $4.00 each, or 3 for $10.00, with a choice from 4. I passed on the Adelaide hills goats cheese, green herbs, pickled onion as I’m not a huge fan of goats cheese and got the others instead. Roasted cherry tomato, local prosciutto and herbs Vibrant and fresh looking thing. The cherry tomatoes weren’t roasted, but I preferred it that way. A tried and tested flavour combination of fresh sweet cherry tomatoes and prosciutto with some herbs on a toasted slice of bread with a slather of melted butter… mmmmMmm. Harris smokehouse smoked salmon with cucumber and dill Free range roast chicken, iceberg lettuce and aio
Lovely cafe on quiet street. Lucky to find this place open during Xmas time. Staffs are super friendly and coffee is nice. There’s limited dishes that we can choose from menu due to unexpected incident, but overall they are delicious and beautifully presented.
Fresh, friendly and flavoursome!
This place is really delightful.
Staff are lovely and helpful.
The ceiling sculpture creates a soft yet mesmerising space to sit and enjoy the food.
Importantly, the meals are delicious and beautifully presented.
Well worth a visit for breakfast, brunch or lunch!
Had the honey halloumi with fried egg and kale ($19) and got a side of bacon as an extra ($5). Bacon probably not worth an extra $5 but meal was good. Pastries are good there too.
Great thing about this place is that they provide service on the Boxing Day. We got the muffin-cheat-day and the buckwheat granola, both super yummy. The overall service can be improved tho...
Love their food there at this small cafe not too far wall away from CBD on the way to the Botanical Garden.
good coffee. Nice food. Bit spenny on pub hols, 12% surcharge but not too far from standard these days
Bright and cozy little cafe with outdoor seating. Interesting flavour combo for the mushroom dish. Bit of Asian flavours to it. Pulled pork sandwich was alright, highlight was the chips. I like that the menu changes, something fresh every now and then. Bit on the pricey side for the ingredients used..
