This may be the best Japanese restaruant in Adelaide. I have spent a significant amount of time in Japan and tasted traditional Japanese cuisine. Gyoza gyoza is as good as it gets. In addition the staff are super friendly and mostly of Japanese origin which just adds to the experience. The drinks menu is huge! With many Japanese sake and whisky to taste as well as 1litre jug options of beer cider mocktail and cocktails. My favourite place in Adelaide, highly recommend.
Gyoza Gyoza is based on a Japanese Izakaya bar which is not too dissimilar to a Spanish Tapas and Cerveza bar. Both places have small portions of inexpensive food to be eaten with what may end up being copious amounts of alcohol. I don't drink alcohol so a Coke was fine with me, the other half of course does but we were here for the food. If you are looking for a meal where you eat an entree, main and dessert, then you walked into the wrong place. While you're here, sit down, order a drink and some food. You won't be disappointed.
We started with Tilapia Sashimi. I'd never had Tilapia before, my friends in America have told me about Tilapia but I've never tried it. As soon as I saw Tilapia sashimi, I had to have it. It was divine. The Tilapia itself was fresh and the flavour delicate. When married with a little wasabi and dipping sauce, it was sensational. Under the Tilapia was grated daikon radish which lifted the flavour and changed it once more.
Abalone Salad with fried wontons skins, now that was beyond sensational. The abalone alone was superb. When the abalone and fried wanton were introduced to my taste buds, they did a little dance and I swear I heard a sigh from them.
Okonomiyaki is seriously delicious. The gyoza, bite sized pieces of heaven.
Tori No Karaage is what I call Japanese KFC but crunchier. Kids love karaage.
I need to mention the staff last night were brilliant. We were very well looked after. Thank you Lok for making me feel welcome while waiting for my husband.
The food is amazing. Fantastic menu options. Great cocktail selection. And the place looks warm and inviting. Highly recommended.
Gyoza Gyoza is a fabulous place to eat! Delicious food and boasts an amazing drinks menu! The staff are friendly and were more than willing to assist us during the evening. This is our new favourite restaurant in Adelaide. This was our second visit and definitely not the last š.
Just like Melbourne, Gyoza Gyoza is doing a fantastic job. I came to Adelaide for a work trip and recognised the brand. The quality of food is amazing and consistency is on point, no matter which store you visit. Highly recommend, at $6.8 per dish, value is amazing!
Great decor and friendly staff. The food was excellent and it was nice to have a number of small plates to share. We will definitely go back. Prices are comparable with yum cha
Had a wonderful night! Tasty food with amazing and super helpful staff, the menu is easy to navigate and is diverse with food to fit everyone. The staff are happy to help if you have any questions, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. Perfect for groups or even if you just want a snack by yourself.
Had an amazing time here today. The food was amazing and a really friendly staff. Would not be able to pick a fave for sure.
Will definitely come again for the food and location.
Great food, like the style of how they cook their food here. Their salt and pepper squid tastle so good here. Customer service here is top notch.
Friendly staff and great food! Definitely would come back again! It's nice how you get multiple small dishes as you can share with friends and family! Would recommend to anyone!
Nice ambiance, delicious food. Good place to have dessert and drinks..the Japanese style. Staff are friendly too! Will definitely return in future.
Always go here with my friends and am never disappointed. Good quality food with good prices, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Wouldnāt recommend more!
Amazing service and soft shell crab burger š. Spicy miso gyoza and okonomiyaki were well presented and tasted amazing. Recommend this place for a late night eatery.
great plum wine LOVE ITļ¼The most popular thing in here is the matcha ice cream. The dumplings are awesome and servied with a uniq styling plate.Itās a really good place to enjoy some time with friends.
Lovely lunch with friends. Our favourites are the agedashi tofu, karage chicken with sweet chilli sauce, pork and garlic gyoza and hot soba!
We definitely recommend :)
I really liked the onions in the sizzling pork belly and the spicy fried chicken was really good~ I will definitely come back because the prices are so cheap
Very good food. Friendly staff!!!!!!! The matcha ice cream is amazing, and cheap!! Why the review has to be over 140 characters, way too long.
Great service, delicious food. Would definitely recommend. All the dishes were full of flavour and cooked well. Will be coming back again soon! I especially love how the meals come in small portions, so you can get a variety of different dishes to share around.
The restaurant has a really good selection of fresh food. The mini burgers and cocktails are great to try. Very nice customer service and fast serving!
My partner and I started coming to GyozaGyoza for their soy soft serve ice cream. Love the classic Matcha flavour and also tried Hoicha and Sakura&Lychee mixes.
The texture and flavour&sweetness is perfect and I admit it is one of the best soft ice cream we had so far.
Today we came to try their food menu and the atmosphere and tapas style menus make this place great to have drinks with friends to share small nibbles and bites.
We were disappointed with their Gyoza. It seemed to have been steamed then very lightly pan fried on one side so it lacked the crunchy texture and left the flavour very bland.
Other menus we tried were Udon, Takoyaki, Scampi sashimi, Salmon Tataki salad, Tori Karaage, Crab Cream Croquette. All were enjoyable.
Service and staffs are all quite friendly every time we visited. I would highly recommend this place for soft serve ice creams and to enjoy cold Japanese tap beer with friends on hot summer days.
Nice dessert. Chilling and cool atmosphere. My favourite is always mix soft serve ice cream. This is always our favourite to place for a night out.
Food quality and service was really good! The fried and soup gyoza is tasty. The overall serving size is quite small - which is expected from Japanese cuisine - but larger serving size would be nice.
Friend recommend this lovely Japanese restaurant. There are several Japanese restaurants in Adelaide. But this one is special. It serve plates of small portion food range from 6-8$. Good varieties of dishes suit for every taste, good presentation and flavors as well. Recommended! If you think you tried every Japanese restaurants in Adelaide.
Amazing selection of food at a great price. Service and selection of alcohol is extraordinarily. We have been here a number of times now and highly recommend it!
Great customer service. Authentic food! Nice environment. Really enjoyed our dining experience here at Gyoza Gyoza. Highly recommend the Scallop sushi, lotus root chips and the lobster slider.
Lovely place. Great Staff. The food is to die for....we will be back..š your palette is left with a dance iin it...the wagyu was delish..yum yum...
Service was excellent, everyone was so polite and helpful, the food is affordable and well worth it! We loved every dish ā so much so we had to take a flat lay photo haha!
We could tell there was care and thought and love put into the food, delicious! We'll be back again!
Really delicious food! I had the iced matcha soft serve drink and it comes with soy milk not regular, my lactose intolerance didnāt stop my ice cream cravings for once! The ice cream was honestly the best matcha ice cream Iāve had before too, so happy, will return again
Love the food here and all of the staff is friendly!! We really enjoy the moment when we are here! And the song is pretty beautiful by the way!
It's a great place, the food and drink are both very good. l love the Mocha draft Beer! The taste of the mocha draft beer is great. The Calpico grape shochu cocktail is tasty as well, lovely pink color and great grape flavor, drink not like shochu, more like grape soda, girl's favorite! the Mocha ice cream is wonderful, really recommended that one!
Absolutely amazing culinary delights at gyoza gyoza, beautiful friendly staff and even better food... Absolutely recommend this restaurant for an amazing experience
Great food! Great atmosphere! Great service! What more do you want? They also have a loooooooong list of drinks. Everyone loved the Yukke (raw beef salad) and also the stir fry spicy pork belly.
Great and delicious Japanese tapas food and selections at reasonable price. Gyoza, the wagyu beef sushi and the sashimi were great. Will recommend this place to friends and family
Nice food. Nice staff. Nice playlist. The best Matcha and Hojicha dessert weāve ever tried. The atmosphere is nice and chill. Highly recommended.
This is the best Japanese restaurant in Adelaide. Huge menu selection. Very generous size dishes. Delicious food and very reasonable prices.
Always love coming here! Great vibe and great food!
Definitely recommend trying a variety of different dishes when you come - the food is consistently quality/10
Gyoza Gyoza has a friendly staff and food at reasonable prices. My friends and I would always hang out here as they have upbeat music that are relatable and it gives you happiness when you are stressed out. In addition, it has both light and heavy food for lunch or Dinner and their Soft serve is tastes so good specially on a hot day.
Friendly Staff, great environment and excellent food. Great service. People who have a genuine care for their job. I like entering and not being judged. I like the non stereotypical people who work there.
Polite staff who guide you through the options from the Japanese cuisine. a must try is the asahi black beer which I had for the first time and loved it with the food
The food is amazing! Always love eating here. I have never had a bad meal here. The service is great, very polite employees. The location and the setting of this establishment is great.
Have been to this place multiple times and tried nearly all its dishes. Most of them are decently priced and tasty. Beverages are fantastic. Friendly and polite staff, varies of food to select from. The Gyoza for $4.8 is a must try!
Nice environment and good variety of food choices. Vegetarian friendly as well. The traditional pan fried pork and garlic gyoza is amazing and only $4.8 for 5 pieces.
Food was good value, taste was simple and letting the food speak for it self.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
Highly recommend the Duck Giblets, Yukka, Takoyaki, Grilled ox heart, Octopus tentacles
Food is great and have variety choices of selection . Service is excellent. Environment is marvellous! Highly recommended! It is a place to bring your friends and have a great moment!
Very friendly staff and tasty food. Perfect for a light dinner. The wague beef and the miso eggplant were the best. You can find most of the Japanese food here in small portion.
Gyoza Gyoza is based on a Japanese Izakaya bar which is not too dissimilar to a Spanish Tapas and Cerveza bar. To hear about more you'llĀ have to head over to my blog.
Came here by recommendation from some of my group since they had a good experience last time. Decor and ambience is very nice, I was impressed. They have an extensive menu
I didn't enjoy the food too much though. We ordered a lot of dishes, only some pictured. Can't believe I'm complaining about too much sauce but there really was too much on some of the dishes. The problem was it was overly salty so it wasn't that pleasant to eat. I was told it wasn't this salty last time they went so it could be a one off.
I did enjoy the soft shell crab salad and salmon tataki salad.
The large deluxe sashimi plate was fresh and had a good assortment. The Salmon yukke in it was initially very nice but the large amount of salty dressing made it hard to finish
If you don't know what an izakaya is, its a type of pub that offer small / appetizer meals at a cheap price. Its a place to eat, drinking and be loud. Its Japan's answer to what we call 'happy hour' after work.
All the plates are indeed $6.80, some portions are either bigger or smaller depending what you have.
The food came out at a reasonable time. We had nothing to do, so we just took our time and relaxed. The only bad thing was the crab croquette was not fried enough as the inside was still a bit cold. I would like the Hojicha with green tea ice-cream to come in a litre size glass and that would be perfect.
This place have seem to turn an izakaya into a higher market / classier place. Which there is nothing wrong with it but it would be better if they experiment different flavour combination and add more variety to their menu. To me it feels like I'm eating simple but overly priced Japanese food in a fancy place. A+ for the drinks menu though.
A real izakaya is a place to go to when you feel peckish and need a few drinks to wind yourself down after a long day. Its not a place to go have dinner or you'll become poor pretty fast.
Don't be turned off by the low rating, just give it a try. Its my second time and I will definitely go back..
Came back here a second time after a wonderful first experience. However, the second time dining here made me a little disappointed as the food was not how I remembered it. Some of dishes the food was bland and the wafu beef was very chewy and I could not even take a bite from it. The staff were super friendly though so the service was great. Just a little disappointed on the food side of things. The drinks we had were awesome though!!
As we were looking for some place to eat at on a cold Friday night. We have stumbled upon this restaurant across the china town. We were looking at their menu and one of their waiters approached us and welcomed is properly. He also knew that we were new to the place so he immediately said " all dishes are $6.80". Well yep that got us immediately, who could say no to a Japanese place that offers 6.80 price for all of their dishes ?
We've ordered the deep friend oysters, tori chicken Karaage, stir fried pork belly, ebi Panko, and Yakitori chicken skewers with truffle salt.
Alright they food was okay tho I know why it's only 6.80 each. The plates and the dishes were like appetisers. Small plates, not so generous servings and slightly above average taste.
Will we come back? Well that depends. The restaurant's waitress and waiters were pretty slow and unprofessional. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes to order our food. Might as well go to a decent Japanese restaurant with decent and appetising main dishes.
Food: it's good, but a little slow getting out. Big selection (for Adelaide) of sake and plum wine.
Service: Friendly enough but not that attentive
Ambience: it's a nice place to hang out, presentation is excellent
It makes me so happy that one of my Melbourne faves has a franchise here in Adelaide! Such an extensive menu of Japanese bar style 'tapas' @ $6.80 a plate. Brilliant for sharing. My personal favourites include the crab balls, soft shell crab salad š¦, okonomiyaki. The signature gyoza lovely as a soup! However I can't fault any of it! Not quite as funky decor wise as the Melbourne one but it's still a gem! I'll be here over and over again!!
The iced drinks caught our eyes! So we went in. There were little to no prices listed which worried us. It was very reasonably priced. Each dish is set priced. My husband got a strong tea with green tea ice cream and I got the peach tea with the green tea ice cream on the side as the sorbet that was orginally suppose to be on top was out of stock.
The food was perfection! No complaints! Perfectly portioned and cooked. We could have passed on the steak, but still worth the try.
Worth every penny!
Food: amazing!
Drinks: great, but i could leave it.
Parking: theres some.
Price: very reasonable!!
Service: decent/good, but it was hot. So no complaints there.
I haven't had a lot of Japanese but this was a great restaurant to try different dishes. I liked how we could order tapas. I would be happy to try again.
First impression....Japanese fusion...quite impressed with the artistry of the food and interior design. The attention to detail on how the food look and taste. Harmonious balance of ingredients. Good taste, surprisingly unique and fresh. Good price, location and staff. Two thumbs up!
I really like the soft serve matcha ice cream š. Everytime I go to chinatown, i make it a point i visit the shop. š. The staff are friendly and nice.

Izukaya bars are getting more and more popular in Adelaide. Ā For those of you that are not familiar with the term 'Izukaya' it basically refers to Japanese bar that offers a bar for casual drinks and also sit down dining. Ā The location of this bar is on the busy Gouger Street surrounded by many eateries. Ā It was once the Celsius bar. Ā The decor hasn't changed much at all, it offers booths and communal seating, more of a contemporary dining setting. Ā With over 80 popular Japanese tapas to choose from, it will definitely take you some time to look through the menu. Ā The good thing about it is everything on the menu is $6.80.
One of my favourite japanese establishments in Adelaide, the food is traditional mixed with modern, the Saki and Umesu collection is to die for, I highly recommend this place for Japanese food novices and professionals.
Food are excellent! The service is goodļ¼The view is good for communication and enjoy the moment. We always come to find Riho who is the one beautiful and perfect waitress š!
Fancy place and yummy food. A really enjoyable dinner time . Definitely will recommend friends to come here, also the price is not expensive
Brilliant Japanese tapas a diamond in the rough from all the average asain food on gouger street. Atmosphere was extremely beautiful and modern
Great service, excellent food, awesome staff and nice Japanese sake in gyoza gyoza. Love this place and also staffs over there xxx
All of staffs are friendly! I really enjoyed my dinner!
A lovely place open till very late which makes it a very attractive option for that late-night snack! All plates are $6.80 and there's quite an extensive alcohol menu as well.
The service is great and the people are lovely.
I've had the apple green tea and mango colada. Absolutely loved the mango colado.
In terms of food I've had the grilled ribs, steak, takoyaki, salmon tataki, dumplings (the pork ones and the kimchi ones), teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour pork, udon in soup, baked scallops and fried oysters. Generally everything is pretty good.
I however very much recommend the ribs and the dumplings. I also really liked the udon in soup but be warned its only udon in soup, you'll have to order extra dishes if you want to eat your udon with anything.
My SO and I really like this place so definitely will be back!
This was my first time here. The food here is really good. Service was great and we hardly had to wait long for our food to come out. Feeling very full after an enjoyable meal. Would come again.
Delicious and authentic Japanese food. Love the decor and ambience. Staff friendly and helpful. Great selection of food. Would definitely recommend. Been 3 times in 4 months and has been consistently great!
Food here is delicious! This is my third time here since we discovered it in August. I don't live any where near the city but it is worth the trip every time.
food is amazingļ¼good serviceļ¼staff is friendlyļ¼nice place for drinking sakeļ¼price is cheapļ¼having a great time in there and will come back soonļ¼
Fantastic food, five star services, friendly staff, great ambience. Food portion is generous with an affordable price. A lot of food choices, all come in $6.8 each. Great hospitality!
Good food, great service, good ambience, high quality sake. Absolutely love this place. Definitely will recommend friends and family to visit this place.
What a funky place! Excellent friendly and efficient service...happy waitresses!! Broad menu of tapas style Japanese food... about $6.80 per plate... they tell u plates r very small but having a gastric sleeve I found 1 dish sufficient... so hubby was very happy as he had the rest... salmon sashimi was sliced thickly... I prefer thin slices...wasabi wasn't hot but all the food was fresh, beautifully presented and very delicious! Drink and wine menu extensive and good prices... fried rice was excellent and my daughter who doesn't like anything too adventurous loved the chicken skewers and chicken terriyaki. I didn't tell her the fried root veg wasn't potatoe chips but she liked that too.... we will b back!!
Many reviews talk about bad customer service.. however my experience was very different, very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Ā
The food is delicious, but yes it does come out staggered, so if that bothers you then perhaps its not the place to come. Ā Price wise, i feel it was pretty reasonable. Ā
The waitress warned that the servings are small so i ordered 4-5 however 3 would have been plenty.
The food here is good and delicious! š It's really a nice place having lunch and dinner with friends (and drink some beer or sakeš). I'm willing to gyoza gyoza again;)
Have been here a few times, in terms of the service I would say it's a bit hit and miss, it's all just depending who's serving you on the day.
The price may sound quite cheap but the serving size is actually fairly small. You'll end up spending $$$ to be filling and satisfied.
Anyhow the reasons I keep going back there are the variety of the food and the food themselves are quite yummy.
Friends told me about this place and I just had to give it a go. It was quite a good deal we thought for $6.80 per plate! There were many options eg. steak, sashimi, gyoza, noodles, etc to choose from. And to top it off, green tea soft serve at a mere $2.80! We had a great night!
I attended gyoza gyoza with my husband and children. It was a lovely experience for all of us. Staff were friendly and interior is well decorated with hints of the buildings previous life as a high end restaurant left as well. I love this. I am impressed with the owners decision to incorporate elements of the previous design into their own. It appeals to my eco-friendly nature. Now, for the food! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The dishes were all the same price and all were beautifully presented and well prepared. There use of local produce and fresh ingredients was evident by the flavors and crispness of the salad ingredients. Some is street food, other dishes more up market. We loved it all, with something for everyone. As for drinks my children loved the Japanese style lemonade etc, with the marble in the bottle, I had a cider that was crisp, cool and very refreshing. Others at the table had sake and said it was great. As for service, the staff were warm and friendly. Speaking with the owners, they expressed their enjoyment of Japanese cuisine and also apologized if there was a delay in our food arriving as they had only been open three weeks at the time of our visit. To be honest, we had not noticed any! It takes time for any new business and staff to become a well oiled machine but these guys will do so because their heart is in it. Their enjoyment of Japanese food is their inspiration and their desire for all the customers to enjoy the experience is evident. A really great place to take the family for a relaxed and interesting dining experience. We will be back!
This is my new favourite place and I can't wait to bring all my friends here! If you love places like Sushi train (where you pick loads of little dishes and make them into one big meal) you'll love Gyoza Gyoza. Basically you order a bunch of small plates and share them amongst your friends. All the dishes I tried were delicious, and they give you all the ingredients to make your own Gyoza sauce, which is really fun (and tasty). The atmosphere is nice, the servers are all friendly and there's a really great selection to try out, as well as an interesting drinks menu featuring lots of imported Japanese drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. There are also loads of vegetarian options as well. They tend to bring the dishes one by one (or two by two) almost like starters, but you can also request them all at once. Give it a go and try the steak and the karaage chicken!
Service is a bit slow. large restaurant but not enough staff serving customers.
Great place to grab a quick bite and hang out with friends. They have a lot of drinks and small Japanese dishes.
Enjoyed their desserts. The iced hojicha and soft serve taste amazing.
Really nice and friendly service.
Will be visiting again to try more dishes.
Fantastic Japanese cousins and very reasonable prices. There is so much variation to choose from. From all meats seafood vegetarian options to satisfy just about anyone. The cocktail jugs are fantastic to share and so delicately balanced.
Highly recommended
A pleasant meal in nice surroundings, with fair service and very reasonable price (At a time when there were no other diners.) The pork and garlic Gyoza were enjoyable, with a generous garlic kick I was looking forā¦. the amount of filling was on the light side. Chicken Karaage portions were large, nicely spiced coating that combined very well with the mayo; and the ebi was in a light tempura batter and accompanied by a tasty dipping sauce. Japanese (genuine) wait staff were helpful, suggesting that an order of 10 Gyoza might be too much (& she was right)ā¦. Clean and contemporary Japanese inspired decor. Thereās a lot to like ā¦. Particularly if your looking for a genuine Japanese restaurantā¦. It just doesnāt quite hit a wow moment, though the price is very reasonable.
I enjoyed their desserts, namely, the Japanese Style Parfait. The strawberry and traditional parfaits are my favourites. Personally an 8/10 place for desserts in Chinatown.
Incredibly huge menu, all food was amazing. Try the sushimi, it's absolutely fresh and delicious!
Nice restaurant .good service .lot of different varieties.
