What fantastic service today, I went for the first time with a friend and she unfortunately got the wrong meat in her roll the day before and she just mentioned it to them, and they were like no no it's on the house then! I had the Vietnamese spring roll salad, which is one of my vietnamese fav's and it was the best one I have ever had! kudo's to you Vietnamese Laundry. Also the place looks great! Cannot wait to bring my partner on a Saturday night and have a wee glass of wine!

Went for lunch for the first time today and this place was amazing! Yes you pay that little bit extra than any other Vietnamese take away, but the quality, taste and freshness of the food is delicious! This quirky little shop is fitted out wonderfully, keeping true to its laundry feel. Will definitely be back!

Great little place, I just love it! Food is good, had baby pho, nice enough and excellent Bahn Mi and a few other bits which were nice too. Service is quick and friendly! My only small gripe is I can’t really bring people here after hours, only on a Friday, which is such a shame!

Definitely worth a visit!

The roast pork banh mi was really yum! Especially when they offer a range of sauces on the table that you can put in it. Also had the xui mai which was also delicious! The only downside are the pigeons that hangout outside the restaurant but maybe that's just me because I don't really like birds. I will definitely be back and will be trying the noodle salads next time.

I needed a walk at lunchtime to clear the cobwebs and Vietnamese Laundry had been on my list for a while so I hiked over to the other side of town looking forward to a bowl of pho. The need to walk so far may have elevated my expectations above normal so when I was advised that they only do bowls of pho on Saturday since it was a weekday I could only get a cup I was slightly deflated. Since I was really hungry by this stage I ordered a cup of pho and a roast pork noodle salad. The cup was a generous cup with tasty broth and nice meat. My pho need was slightly satisfied, The noodle salad was ok. Crunchy roast pork had bumped the rating up a bit. I was disappointed that even though I was eating in both the soup and the salad came in takeaway packaging - cute / trendy but I question the sustainability of it. I realize the kitchen is small but a few bowls and spoons surely wouldn't go astray?

Checked out the Vietnamese Laundry for dinner on a cold Friday night. The place appeared to be cosy however the music was WAY too loud. The menu was simple. More tapas-styled. We had the sharing Chopping Board. I thought it was pretty good! Everything on it was amazing. I would definitely come back here again.

I am a huge fan of asian style street food and for a long time now Vietnamese Laundry has stayed close, if not at, the top of my favourites list.
I love the style of this eatery, converted from an old laundry mat, it is small, funky and clearly has a loyal and growing following.
I can't go past the banh mi (my preferred option is chicken, but i hear the pork is sensational as well) and the pho. Everything is fresh, super tasty and has me returning time and time again.

What used to be a laundromat has been replaced with a trendy eatery called Vietnamese Laundry.  Owners Alex and Tin have kept the original decor to incorporate into their dream restaurant.  All the recipes were from Tin as she is Vietnamese and she wished to bring her traditional recipes from home to share with us all.  A month ago I was invited to a zomato meet up amongst with other food bloggers to enjoy some delicious food and drinks at this place.  All food and drinks were provided free of charge on the night.

These guys have the best Baahi mie rolls in Adelaide. It's only small but the service is fast and friendly, if I am ever near town I drive by for a pick up to take back to the office. I have also had the 3 choices of cold rolls and all of them are fantastic. Love this place.

Being Food Bloggers and having a presence on the Restaurant Search Guide Zomato, we were invited to the first Adelaide Zomato Meet Up Event held at the cool and funky restaurant Vietnamese Laundry at 154 Sturt Steet, Adelaide. We were so excited as the restaurant had been on our hit list. So thanks to Zomato, we got to try it sooner than we expected.

It’s not a laundromat – well not any more. It’s a Vietnamese street food restaurant at the site of a former laundromat, in Sturt Street, Adelaide. Owners Alex and Tin toyed with the idea of opening an eatery/bar and when the opportunity arose they snapped up the site. Along with Julia from Zomato, they hosted a meet up of food bloggers to check out this place.

I had the most fantastic meal at Vietnamese Laundry. A fresh, light, flavoured filled delight.

The pho was fantastic with a really complex broth, really crispy and light soft shell crab and delicious lettuce cups with pork.

I love the vibe, it's like a funky bar/restaurant and it's somewhere you would be happy to stay all night.

I will be back.

We were so lucky to have an amazing dinner at Vietnamese Laundry - they don't just do lunch!!  Thursday, Fridays & Saturdays they open in the evening hours for some seriously amazing, authentic Vietnamese food.

Staying true to authentic Vietnamese food in a really modern way, Vietnamese Laundry is in a lovely, small and intimate ex 'Laundrette'.   The owners are a Husband and Wife team who have a passion for vietnamese food and culture and made this amazing place from scratch.

First, we were offered COCKTAILS! aww yis.  There was the signature 'Pho Cocktail' and a sweeter, Lychee Cocktail.  The Pho Cocktail was pretty amazing - savoury but super refreshing with coriander & lemongrass as the prominent flavours.   The Lychee cocktail was sweet and just god damn yummy!  They were made & presented with care, which made for some great photos.

We were then offered a Pho tasting cup.   Thursday nights, they do a 'Pho Bowl' and this was a little taster of that.  OH MUH GAWD, it was AMAZING.  The flavours were intense and perfectly balanced. Absolutely delicious.  I WILL be back on a Thursday night for a Pho Bowl!!!

Next was Grilled Mussel with Spring Onion Oil & Crushed peanuts. These are not currently on the Menu but will probably make an appearance on the Summer menu. I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to oysters or mussels, I'm not always a fan of the fishy taste.  However, these didn't have even a slight fishiness to them.  They were tasty, slightly sweet & perfectly balanced (again!) - I can't wait to try them again and they go to the top of the list for my absolute favourite thing I ate that night.

We were then given lettuce cups with chicken & pork, which we assembled at our table with fresh herbs, pickled carrot, sweet chilli sauce & rice noodles.  They were great fun & the meat was cooked to perfection.

Then - HARD TEA!! Alcoholic tea.  Not sure what the alcohol was, but it was SO EASY to drink.  Sweet, refreshing & a lovely palette cleanser.

We then had a tasting platter with steam buns (bao), lotus chips, fried prawns with green flake rice, coleslaw, soft shell crab cups & pork ribs.   *drool*.  The steam buns were great, not as sickly sweet as other ones I'd tried - they were filling & really yummy.  The lotus chips were crunchy and had a great seasoning which I couldn't quite place, but made them SO moreish!

SOFT SHELL CRAB... NEED I SAY MORE?!

On this plate, the thing that confronted me the most was the prawn.  It was fried with the shell & head on (de-veined though!) which really stays true to authentic Vietnamese street food.  I ate it, and it was really great.  Well cooked meat and super crunchy. It was just getting my mind around eating it whole!

The ribs were my favourite on this plate.  They were incredibly tender and tasty. I could've eaten about 30 of them!

I really enjoyed my evening at Vietnamese Laundry, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was fun.  Will definitely be back & recommend you come for dinner!!

At a time when Vietnamese street food was all the rage, Vietnamese Laundry opened up on the quieter western side of the city. Located inside an old laundromat, they started off with classic street food dishes that we are so familiar with today. 10 months later they’re still going strong, and together with Zomato, invited Adelaide Food Central and other bloggers to sample some of their dishes. All food and drink were provided free of charge.

Just had the most delicious Vietnamese dinner. Amazing vibe of a bar/restaurant setup where the only thing better than the cocktails was the food that followed. Made my night and my list of places to be.

Hipsterdom?
I first headed to this eatery with a couple of friends to see what all the hype was about. Not long after entering I became a little confused, wondering if this was a Vietnamese eatery or just another hipster hang out. After seeing the lack of seats (the place is small), and their menu, I noticed that they serve their food in "Chinese take out" disposable containers and their Phở in cups, so coming to the realisation that I'd no more want to drink my Phở from a cup than drink my coffee from a large Asian soup bowl; we left in search of something a little more authentic. On a return visit during a less busy period, I did try some of their food. Though I was still not keen to drink my Pho from a cup or eat from a small cardboard box, their banh mi, cold rolls and accompanying sauce was very nice, and it wasn't hard to notice the attention to detail in the the way the cold rolls were prepared and the flavour also matched this. Another positive I noticed on the return visit was the friendliness of the staff, the "Aussie" guy behind the  counter (I believe to be part owner) was  particularly engaging and appeared to be a really nice and down to earth guy.

Vietnamese Laundry have added some much needed vibrancy to a part of town which is somewhat forgotten about. It's a great spot to grab some classic Vietnamese dishes.

Food:

The food at Vietnamese Laundry includes all of the Vietnamese dishes we have come to know and love in Australia. You won't find anything revolutionary, but all the menu items are fresh, tasty and reasonably priced.

Service:

Vietnamese Laundry maintain a really relaxed vibe and will have you in and out of the place in a flash if that's what you need, or will welcome you in and look after you if you are looking for a sit down meal.

Ambience:

It's pretty incredible what they have been able to do with such a small place (yes, it was legitimately a coin laundry previously). The most impressive thing is that the owner did a lot of the renovations himself, including the polished concrete benchtop. It's a really cool spot for a quick lunch, but looks even more amazing as the sun is setting over your after-work drinks and snacks.

Dish to look out for:

This might sound like an odd one to pick, but my favourite dish here is actually the dim sims. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they are made in house by the owners and they are just divine.

Great Small Bar in the Heart of Adelaide. I’m a regular lunchtime visitor of the Vietnamese Laundry as I work in the area. I decided to stop by for quick drink after work, 4 hrs later we were still there enjoying the great atmosphere, delicious cocktails and amazing Vietnamese style tapas. The owners of this restaurant has done an amazing job in setting up this little gem paying attention to every detail.

I will definitely be back for the Sticky Beef Ribs !

I had a tasty noodle salad for lunch here today. While the meal was enjoyable I coped a mouthful of chilli early on because the little boxes are so full it’s hard to mix it up without spilling it. Appears all meals are served in takeaway boxes. Straight to the point service from friendly staff. Cool, almost little hole in the wall establishment with modern decor, several tables outside.

Have been enjoying Bahn Mi (Vietnamese roll) here for a few years. Which have been nice but there are better places in Adelaide. Recently decided to try the Noodle salad box. Fantastic! Flavor and amazing serving size. Worth 5 stars. Might have been converted from rolls to Noodle salad box as staple lunch.
