Review Schnithouse Rundle St - Adelaide

Garry Chauhan
Best place to hangout with friends. And the food was delicious as well as ambiance. If you are vegetarian must try egg plant schnitzel . Every dish was amazing. Must visit place if you are in Adelaide. I am going back for sure ✌🏾

A very popular restaurant in Rundle Street. Meals were prepared quickly and were really nice. Love the Hofbräu Beer on tap!

Best schnitzel in Adelaide. I been there few times and after organised my company lunch with 20 people. Staff are very friendly and look after us very well. I am definitely coming back again as my kids loved the icecream and kids meal. Highly recommended

First I have to say that the schnitzel was very good and the salad dressing was good too. Whilst the chips tasted good, they were not hot. Now I know I haven't drunk at cafés and other similar places recently but that will be changing, but I was stunned to be charged $16 for a 300 ml glass of cider. Pity as otherwise I would recommend this place. NEW NOTE *** Note now that the business has came back to me and said the code should be only $7.10, so I presume am error was made thus I do recommend this place as I would eat that schnitzel any day ***

Waited 45 minutes for a scotch steak to come out. Came out cold and well-done when I asked for medium rare. Asked a waiter if they could re-make, he then got another waiter who got another waiter to attend to me. I told this waiter for medium rare. Steak came out well-done again. Talked to the female manager who was extremely rude and told me it said medium-well on the order slip. Took me 5 minutes to explain that I didn’t order that. Total wait for one hour for a scotch barely 300grams.

first time been there. And those are photos of both side of the orange on my cocktail. Dried and dehydrated orange slices are obviously using old ingredients that have been stored for a long time. Don’t know if other foods in this shop are the same

Almost seemed sacrilege to not order a schnitzel but it was Good Friday and the Barramundi was lovely

Great stop in even brought people in for a meal they would never foget

Great food and presentation, love cozy ambiance, friendly staff and great taste of German beer. Didn't wanted to order the salad but saw on someone's table and just ordered the same dish. Definitely recommended this place :) Cheers

An authentic German eating and drinking place in the heart of adelaide. Great variety of food and German beers along with other famous Australian beers and beverages. Nice ambience, courteous staff and the HAPPY HOURS are not to be missed 😋🥂

Moderate schnitzel.. crumb was not too thick but chicken itself lacked seasoning.. mushroom sauce was a bit too watery to my liking.. Chips were good tho! 9.95 uni price for a generous portion is certainly worth the deal in my opinion, if you’re not after outstanding quality schnitzel. Had a lemon lime bitter which tasted okay but not fantastic!

I would of thought for a place called schnithouse would do really great schnitzels. Unfortunately not. Staff were not friendly at all it was not clear if someone came to the table and take your order or you go up to the bar. We had to ask which is confusing and poor. When placing the order I was then advised that I had to wait for the drinks and take them back to the table myself. The reason people go out for dinner is table service. The schnitzels were all thick hunks of steak which were in a thick crumb which was dark brown. Over cooked in old oil. It was tender but not a true thin schnitzel like you would get in a true schnitzel house. The menu is a laugh and the chips were good but to be honest it is very expensive especially for what is on offer. You could get a better schnitzel delivered to your house cheaper with Uber. Very disappointing.

My friend recommended this place and as I love schnitzel I was really looking forward to my meal. The meat was a smidge thicker than I expected but still really tender alas I wasn't overly keen on the coating. I'm not sure if I was meant to be getting served at my table or lining up at the bar but while I was in the queue to order two groups of people tried to get their meals sent to my table.

We called up and made a booking for a table of 10 yesterday at 2pm. Thinking it was all well and good we arrived at 7:30 and waiting 15 minutes to be seated. When we finally got to talk to someone they had informed us that we had never called up, we than explained that we did and they went on to tell us they had double booked and don’t have any spare tables.... this was very inconvenient because being 7:30 everywhere else was booked out as well. We finally found a place to eat and than got informed that our friend who was running late had called schnithouse asked if the table was there and got rudely hung up on. <br/><br/>If I could give a 0 I would!

Worst meal I have ever had. Hotdog bun was burnt and stale. The advertised massive schnitzel was medium at best and for a German inspired restaurant why would deli ham and cheese be acceptable as topping? Garlic prawns were very bland. <br/><br/>Overall a very disappointing experience and we won’t be coming back. We would have been better off having cereal at home than spending $75 on frozen food.

We ate at Schnithouse on a whim after purchasing a groupon brunch voucher and boy were we impressed! <br/><br/>Even without the voucher, the menu is extremely good value. And you get a free espresso coffee or orange juice with each breakfast. The coffee was good quality - not that cheap nasty stuff. <br/><br/>The servings were HUGE. A good hearty breakfast with everything you could ask for. The was exactly why we were looking for on a rainy morning. <br/><br/>Not your typical cafe atmosphere but a good quality big breakfast if you’re feeling hungry and on a budget.

This is The first meal we had in Adelaide. Proper Environment and good service. The food is great, especially the chicken wings. Crispy and juicy! And we chooses lemon tequila. Perfect choice! Special & yum!Chips was cooked better than most ones served by other restaurants. Pizza was under my expectation. The bbq sauce was too strong. Not my type

This place is rapidly going to the dogs. Went here during Fringe, where admittedly it was very busy. Chaos at the till - a queue out the door but inexperienced staff appeared to have no sense of urgency. No manager in sight to supervise what were very young staff who needed guidance. Didn't know how to apply a discount from a card. I had my order decided at counter after waiting ten minutes - meal, drink, table number etc but had to repeat myself many times. Staff finalised order then served the next customer without getting my drink. Tables are cleared but not wiped down, which attracts flies inside the restaurant. Cutlery and salt/pepper shakers have to be requested because they are not replenished on the tables and are not brought out with the meals. Service is generally quick but it's just deep fried everything. I wouldn't dare go to the toilet in this place. Appears to be doing a roaring trade but won't last on Rundle Street (like Caffe Primo didn't before it). Open a branch in Hackham West or Craigmore where this kind of shoddy service and lack of hygiene can fly.

Food: Mega Seafood Basket<br/>Drink: Coke Jug<br/><br/>First time here for dinner and the atmosphere was nice and cozy. It was a busy night but not overly so. Service was great, though towards the end of the meal it took a couple of back and forth to get table water for our table. However, it was getting busy so I suggest to grab table water as soon as you order your food so you can have something to drink as soon as possible.<br/><br/>The Mega Seafood Basket should be treated as a share platter for 2-3 people. I thought it would be okay to eat on its own but ended up having to take it away -- not due to the amount, but its high salt content. I'm not sure if that was the standard amount from what I had, but the fish, chips and salt and pepper squid was too much, the salad actually balanced the intensity for a little bit. Yes, they're all quite salty foods but I think the extra salt sprinkled throughout almost killed the whole platter. The prawns were okay and not as salty.<br/><br/>I think if the salt was toned down a bit on the basket, and if you were REALLY hungry, you'd be able to smash the basket. It's possible to finish it all by yourself, but the amount of salt did not help. I've had salt and pepper squid before in other restaurants and the squid wasn't as salty as the ones I've had tonight. Overall a great pick for a couple of friends to share, or by yourself if you need a big feed and if salt was reduced. Very tasty and bursts with flavor. Good aioli dip to go with the seafood and chips, and the salad as a palette cleanser and balance in between the seafood.<br/><br/>Had a slight issue with the jug of Coke provided -- it was quite diluted from the ice cubes at the top but fine by the middle of the jug down. I think there was some ice water scooped into the jug, which made the first three or so pours of the jug to taste quite terrible. I would recommend just getting the canned or bottle drinks if you want soft drinks, otherwise you'll have to chug some diluted soft drink for a bit before it actually tastes like the soft drink.<br/><br/>All in all a good first experience getting seafood. I would definitely come back to try the other items, I did not realize at first how much variety this restaurant offers.

This German pub specializes in a variety of schnitzel and chicken wings, but are sometimes quite pricey if not bought on specials, particularly the $9.90 schnitzel (students only). The food is filling, but quality can vary. For example, chips have been cold and soggy, but also crispy and piping hot. Rhe vibe is very casual, but can feel a little cheap, would not recommend for fancy eating, but food is alright. There is nicer schnitzel in Adelaide, but schnithouse is a solid pick in Rundle Street.

Went for a lunch time meal ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid and gotta say it was one of the worst I have ever had. There was absolutely no taste to the squid, my salad consisted of lettuce and rocket 1 small bit of tomato. The chips that came with it were freezing cold. I never do ratings online as they can be unfair but cant believe I paid for a meal in that condition. I have heard from others that their meals have been fantastic but mine was very poor. Staff were nice maybe I got the cook on a bad day
Chips Before Dips
It makes me sad to give this place such low rating. I went here with my partner for the first time over a year ago, and we both LOVED it. However, sadly each experience since then has been a slow decline, until our last visit several weeks ago where we finally decided we would be unlikely to return. The schnitzels have become visibly rushed and lazy, you can get a better schnitzel from many pubs. The serving sizes are smaller, and the service more scattered. The one thing in its favour is the delicious chicken wings. The meat falls away from the bone just by picking them up to eat. <br/>All in all certainly not terrible, but far from the best schnitzel going around.
Dieter
Food: Bangers and Shnit. The schnitzel isn't one of the best I've had, though it was cooked through right. The mash was barely warm and the salad was probably dressed a while ago, it was a little limp. Middle of the road. Food came out quick.<br/>Service: order from counter, serviced to table. Nice enough people. :-)<br/>Ambience: pretty busy and noisy inside. Tv in restaurant. <br/>Verdict: it's busy so obviously has a lot of fans. There's some interesting schnitzel combos on the menu, but I'd prefer to go somewhere the schnitzel made better.

Went there for a quick meal after flying in from Melbourne. Luckily hit happy hour. Pints of HB only 6 Bucks. Got a table straight away but after 30 minutes there was queue to order food and drinks.<br/><br/>Have to go to counter to order and maybe table service would be welcomed. Anyway ordered the pork Schnitzel with classic gravy. 2 generous pieces with a good salad and great chips. Could do with a "more Beer hall" decor and dress.<br/><br/>Would recommend it for a quick big meal and Beer.

I've seen mixed reviews about this place but my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our chicken parmigiana's. The only let down was the dining room was freezing and the chips weren't hot. Nonetheless I'd come back... not a bad feed!

The different schitzels sounded good on the menu however the food was disappointing. If you are after some decent schitzel than try somewhere else.<br/><br/>Food - 5/10<br/>Value - 5/10<br/>Service - 4/10<br/>Decor - 6/10

Schnithouse? More like Sh*thouse!<br/><br/>First time there will also be my last time unfortunately. Went to try a good schnitty as that is what you're meant to be there for and it was just okay really.<br/><br/>My expectations fell after we ordered and this is why:<br/>1. Table water was horrible. I mean you don't go somewhere for table water but when I took my first sip of water from the dirty glass cups, all I could taste was beer.<br/>2. Seated at the back where you could see people coming in and out of the kitchen. The kitchen looked dirty and was in a mess with a big kitchen lady bringing in a platter full of stale vegetables with cooking condiments all over the place. (Also kitchens should be cleaned regularly but it looked like it hadn't had a good scrub down for years?)<br/>3. All the above lowered our expectations and when the food arrived, it wasn't hot. The vegetables as sides were not fresh and the schnitty wasn't that great.

Have only taken away dessert so my review is not reflective of the overall food quality. My choice was a slice of German apple cheesecake ($6.50). The cake had a biscuit base, a creamcheese-based cheesecake layer, diced cooked apples, topped with a layer of cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The biscuit base was rather tasty, but was unfortunately a little soggy in some areas - I suspect the cake had been sitting in the cabinet for a while. Nonetheless, the cake was very yummy and completely satisfied my sweet cravings. Can't imagine how delicious it would have been if it was fresh!

Yuck! Freezing cold, no heaters, beer served with ice though ok selection. The schnitzels are average but I think you'll find a pub schnitzel better. Novel idea but really average kind of meal.

We have been to the schnithouse in Elizabeth and it was fantastic. So we thought we go to the one at east end because we thought we would get another delicious schnitzel. After working hard all week all we wanted was a nice meal. We booked and arrived early and they gave us a table straight away, I had the Aloha pork schnitzel last time and loved it. So I ordered it again and my partner decided to try it as well. The aloha is served with pineapple, bacon, caramelised onion cheese with a bbq aloi. When the meals arrived it took me a few minutes to notice no onion and sauce was very dismal. Very disappointed!! The pork was cooked perfectly but was dry because of no sauce. When the waitress finally arrived to take our meals I told her very politely that there was no onion, she replied I have gotten that response tonight from other customers... Really! Well I told her of my disappointment again and on a very cold 10 degree night the most she could offer me was a free ice cream!! Oh my.. Sure it's freezing a ice cream is exactly what I want on a night like this! Next time try offering your customer a glass of wine!

Ordered the bourbon cowboy 'bullschnit', somewhere in the ocean of retail bbq sauce were a couple of rubbery veal schnitzels. Thankfully some wonderful hofbrau beers available on tap to wash it away

Schnitzel was okay, but for somewhere calling itself Schnithouse, I could find better schnitzels elsewhere. Also extremely pricey for what was ordered.

Came to Schnithouse on Rundle Street at about 8pm last night. <br/><br/>A couple of the staff members got into a food fight outside of the shop with their friends. They were screaming, yelling and drawing attention to themselves. <br/>After they had tired themselves out they decided to RUN in through the restaurant yelling and laughing, in their uniform.<br/>One of the staff members friends ran behind the bar and put icecream on the staff member's face. <br/><br/>We sat by the window but couldn't really eat as a staff member was smoking directly in front of the open window...<br/><br/>Never have I ever witnessed such unprofessional behaviour, I used to work in hospitality and I cannot believe there is somewhere that allows their staff to act like this. Pure filth. Not worth the money to watch staff members act like children, not do their job and actually negatively affect their customers.

Decent location on Rundle St and a decent fitout. We had the chicken Mexican schnitzel and the beef parmigiana. The beef parmie was a lot better than the Mexican chicken schnitzel and the chips were nice. The parmie's were both OK but nothing special. Prices a touch on the expensive side for schnitzels. Probably won't return but still worth an eat for first timers. It's a pass, just

These guys suck. bargain bin schnitties banged out in the fryers. The sauces are all bulk-bottled garbage, all taste extremely artificial. They'll charge you 20+ dollars for the most average schnitzel of your life. Don't waste your money.<br/>Most important thing to mention is the feeling of gutteral revulsion one has to labor through when reading their menus - these guys' entire schtick is that the word "schnit" kind of sounds like "shit". Like feces. Funny right? Enjoy reading appetising gems like "Pile of Schnit" before you chow down on a crispy overcooked log of meat. Hands down the most clueless venue in the East End.

I was looking forward to eating here had heard good reports. We went Saturday night Fringe was on lots of people around. The place was packed and we were stacked in together too close. Ordered my meal $25 for what I thought was a German style schnitzel. ..... but it wasn't. It was tough to cut over cooked and the mince topping greasy. That topping kept repeating all day Sunday so I'm not sure what was in it. Friend ordered the pizza .... the knife struggled to cut the base??? I tried a slice and it was tough chewing. So very disappointed not sure if this is their usual standard or they just didn't cope with the volume of people. Would not go back and can't recommend. ....

Went to Schnithouse before a Fringe Show.  We were running late and despite the place being insanely busy we were shown to a table quickly and had our menus within a minute.  We chose quickly, ordered and had our schnitzels in less than 10 minutes.  All the schitzels were well sized and well cooked and everyone enjoyed their meals.  Great place for a quick filling meal before a show or the movies.  Thanks Schnithouse!

I ordered the GF meat lovers pizza. Not good. Cold towards the middle (base was obviously frozen prior to being put in the oven). $27 glorified Dominoes pizza to be honest.
Mathew Hnoudis
I had the chicken "soprano" schnitzel. The schnitzel was thick and moist, not thinly bashed with a mound of breadcrumbs. Overall the meal was nice, however the salad could easy be replaced with some more chips. It was very busy when we arrived and it took some time to place our orders. That said, food was out very quickly which took us all by surprise considering how busy it was. The floor staff were a little bamboozled by the lunch hour rush, but it seems like the kitchen had it under control.

Decent meals and large portions, probably to large, I noticed a lot of waste. The disappointing part was the side salad. I know they are pre made. But the wait staff should be looking and check that they aren't wilted and disgusting. It just shows lack of care in presentation.

At first I was skeptical about this restaurant, as most restaurants on Rundle St have slipped down. We were greeted promptly and we were organized a table for 5 of us right away. I ordered a bull lazy schnitz, with bourbon sauce. My beef was cooked perfectly. The crumb was perfect, salad fresh and the sauce had the right balance of the sweetness of the bourbon. My other guest ordered the same, but his beef was a little rare for him. We asked if it can be cooked a little longer. To our surprise, he got a whole new meal! This would not happen in most other establishments! The only time we would be given a new meal is in the US, where it is common practice if your meal was not cooked to your liking. They have great friendly staff, always cheerful and attentive. Would definitely come back here and is on our list for dinner nights out!

Such good value, massive schnitzels for reasonable prices. Really good quality schnitzels, and a massive variety of toppings. Food is fast too. Service was amazing, for a busy Friday night! Impressive. We'll definitely be back!

If you want a schnitzel then this is the place every type of schnitzel you could want. Add that with a huge selection of beer on tap makes a great combo

Another friend recommendation... Schnit House. He's been praising this place ever since it opened up on Rundle Street, so decided to pay a visit. Their menu is filled with options and of course majority was schnitzels. Have to say though, they have one of the largest variety of schnitzels out there, so definitely a great place for schnitzel fans like me. They also have a long list of gravy/sauces which made decisions difficult. They also provide benefits to students as they offer a $9.90 chicken schnitzel special every Mondays. <br/><br/>I didn't have much time to decide on what i wanted to eat so i just went with the typical chicken schnitzel with Diane sauce. The schnitzel was insanely big that i had to loosen my belt after devouring it. The schnitzel was a tad different to the ones i normally have at Pubs/Cafes as this one was less crunchy, which i don't mind. The gravy was a little disappointing though. It was quite watery and didn't have much flavour even when eating the gravy by itself. <br/><br/>Other than that, Schnit House provides a great schnitzel experience to their customers and if you're a student having the $9.90 special, you really can't complain.

Uber Schnitz!! Heading into Rundle Street actually wanting a pizza, we drove past the Old Sliders, which is now the new Shnithouse! Yes, correct Shnithouse! Well having German heritage, I just had to check this place out immediately! Pizza was now a long forgotten memory! Octoberfest Celebrations were in full swing when we found a seat outside. We enjoyed some unexpected German entertainment with German knee slappers, dancers and bell ringers! All the staff were dressed in traditional dirndl and lederhosen! The menu is quite extensive and a bit eclectic. Heading straight for the Shnit menu we chose the Pile of Shnit! This gave us crumbed pork, fish, chicken, beef and a vego shnit, salad, chips and a choice of 3 sauces for $33.90! This is plenty for two people. This plate was simply delicious! Crunchy crumbing, fresh salad, golden chips and plenty of sauce, which I love! One of the sauces that we chose was the hot sauce and it was uber awesome! The name of it (Enema), however, is a little questionable!  I observed more schnitties landing on tables and they all looked amazing! I will definately return just to get through some more of this uber yum menu. I would have liked to have seen some more German options on the menu, but if you love your schnitzel, then Shnithouse is a must visit destination!

Interesting menu and fresh feel. But was highly disappointed at the cleanliness of the tables. We sat outside, late afternoon, and the tables around us were absolutely covered in dirty plates. A waitress started cleaning one table after 20 minutes but seemed to give up and left it still half dirty. Considering the time of day it wasn't very busy and isn't an excuse for leaving a restaurant in a state like this. It was uncomfortable to eat the food and relax. Food was good, service average, cleanliness terrible.

New Schnitty area on Rundle st... The menu is just fascinating. Lots to choose from a variety of toppings and sauce from Mexican aloha to kilpatrik without oyster. There's also four different Schnitty to choose from - chicken, pork, fish and veg. I never thought having schnitzel can be fun. I never realise I would take so long to choose which topping and sauce to have. Staffs are very friendly, very helpful with menu. Good variety of drinks from wine, beer taps, fruit juices, coffee and etc etc. Food was served so fast... It was a gem service. Each Schnitty served with chips and a bowl of salad. Chips were well seasoned and crunchy. The only feedback I might give is that the schnitzel itself is not crispy. It is actually soft. I would love to have all these toppings and sauce and slice through my knife with a crunch sound. But overall very pleasant dinner and very pleased with what I pay for.

The schnit lovers pizza. Well it confused my knoggin.I love pizza and don't mind a good Schnitty but to combine the two wasn't a marriage yes it was love at first sight and by no means was it bad I just recommend one or the other. The setting is new modern and offers a cafe/pub style feel about it.Comfortable and simple I'd do it again selecting one dish without combining them both but that's my opinion.

A big boys birthday gathering brought us to the ever busy Schnithouse on Rundle Street. Walking in the ratio of male to female is definitely high, a big man cave. Having said that, it's not like the girls felt out of place. First thing I saw was a 1kg schnitzel and 1L beer challenge which I shied away from. Had I been my younger self things would have been different but alas I grew older and wiser in my meal choices.....maybe.

This was my first time trying Schnit House, which replaced Sliders On Rundle. Though I didn't try their sliders, I had their Schnit House burger and it did not disappoint. With a large portion size, served with a side of chips, it was absolutely fantastic! Pricing was good as well, cheaper than other burger options around town for amount you are getting. Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back again.

The schnitzels here are great. The best crumb ever. Have watched several try to complete the Man vs Schnit. Some have won, some have lost. Specials always available. Extra points for schnitzel puns.

Lovely atmosphere. Open late at night. <br/>Plenty of vegetarian options - and was clearly identified,  which was nice to see. <br/>Good portioned schnitzels. <br/>Comes with good sides. <br/>Meal tasted good. Well cooked eggplant. Appropriate amount of crumb on eggplant. <br/><br/>:-) a must visit!
Cheeky Diner
First time visiting this place. Had a chilled laid back vibe & sat in a comfortable booth. I ordered a chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and my partner ordered a beef schnitzel with the same sauce. The wait time was quick and the serving portions huge, especially the chicken. The schnitzel were very well seasoned and tasted great. Both were cooked to perfection. The mushroom gravy however tasted like packet gravy and was very bland. The salad was standard, but did have a nice dressing. Food was cheap, however beer was nice but a little expensive. A 500ml glass was $13.50. Overall was happy with the experience.

Tried for the first time today and was fantastic! If you like a bit of chili recommend the hot enema sauce! Great service and was good fun with good beer.
Ruth Graf
Extremely noisy closely packed cafe. We had the Full Schnitz which consisted of one each of beef pork chicken fish and veggie schnitzels. They were all over cooked, not particully hot and all tasted the same. Would we go back? Probably not.

Devilwoman. My husband and I went to this lovely Restaurant on Friday night and we were hugely impressed with it! The meals were hot (on a very cold night) were beautifully presented and tasted absolutely wonderful! The service was second to none! AMY our waitress was ever present, nothing was too much trouble, we didn't have to ask for a single thing, she intuitively knew what we may like and appeared with a carafe of water (not asked for) & offered to take us inside the Restaurant after a table became available! Again we declined her offer, but we hadn't asked to be shown this added courtesy, but the thought was just lovely! Not often that you have service like this without asking for it and she is an absolute CREDIT to this fantastic eatery. I hope that we conveyed our thanks adequately to TONY on the night, but no one will be disappointed in eating out at the Schnithouse and we are already looking forward to another great meal there in the future!

Schnithouse! As soon as we heard about this place we wanted to go. Ben and I had actually talked about if we were to open a schnitzel restaurant that Schnithouse could be a possible name. I assumed it was quite a new restaurant as neither of us had heard of it before. We found it on Rundle Street and we both remembered a different restaurant to have previously used that establishment. The logo for Schnithouse was awesome, it had the German/historic feel to it that I would of imagined for a good schnitzel house.

Not cooked fresh. I went here on Friday night with a table of five.<br/><br/>The waiter was helpful and attentive, even clearing our table for us after someone else stole it from us.<br/><br/>The food however was not satisfactory.<br/><br/>I ordered a Aloha Chicken Schnit, and it arrived 3-4 minutes later and was tepid warm. The chips were way over salted.<br/><br/>Obviously the food is not made to order and they have Schnittis lying out for future orders. Either way this is not acceptable.<br/><br/>Everyone on our table remarked how average the food was. (some other people on the table had hot schnittis, some did not).<br/><br/>Very disappointing. Will not be going back.

Good Service but the owner/manager/headchef needs to make sure they put more care towards their food. How Many Diners - I dined with 2 other friends <br/>Service - Great Service provided by Waitresses and Waiters<br/>Venue Presentation - Colour, Writing font theme suites the food they selll, colours gave a feeling of welcoming and warmth, Clean tables.<br/><br/>Food Portion - If you order the schnitzel the portions are Large similar to Pub food servings (But if you order the Eggplant, serving is small and stingy with the eggplant)<br/><br/>I understand the pricing is due to the location being on Rundle Street $20.00 for a Schnitzel or $25 for a gourmet schnitzel, $30ish for steak, $16.00 for burgers (Reasonable pricing for the location) I saw they also had Happy Hour on pints every day.<br/><br/>I ordered - EggPlant Schnitzel $20.00<br/>Friend #1 ordered Gourmet Chicken Schnitzel<br/>Friend #2 ordered Gourmet Pork Schnitzel<br/><br/>I like my food very salty but my Eggplant was way too salty, I thought it was just mine but then I tried both my friend's schnitzel. They were all extremely very salty (not exaggerating) My Friend managed to finish his Pork Schnitzel as he accompanied it with a spicy sauce so he couldn't taste the salt. I tried to remove the batter on my eggplant but the eggplant was way to thin to succeed and even when a I managed to remove a small portion of batter from the Eggplant, the eggplant was also salty on its own. (I know eggplant can be salty without having to add extra salt to it, so either the chefs added extra salt to the eggplant or it absorbed the salt from the batter.)<br/><br/>I also understand eggplant shrinks when cooked but it was literally 3mm in HEIGHT and with batter I would say 5mm HEIGHT and 12cm length, 6cm width.<br/><br/>I ordered the Eggplant as I love eggplant, and also because I previously ordered a eggplant schnitzel from the Brahma Lodge their eggplant was as thick as a steak, it had parmigianna sauce and melted cheese for $18.00 so I thought Schnit House would so a similar serving size, but instead the portion was very stingy, considering eggplants are cheap $2.00 each at the markets.<br/><br/>My friend told the waitress and she advised the chefs might say they accidentally added too much salt but she would let them know anyway. I don't think they should have served this bath, if this is the case, but this is the reason why I believe the head chef/manager/owner should put more care into the food. Other wise they will have non returning customers.<br/><br/>Because of this experience I don't feel we will be returning, I may give it another chance in the far future. I hope the manager/owner considers this review to improve the food.

Very consistent - been half a dozen times since opening and every time has been on point. All schnitzels cooked fresh, chips fresh etc - will keep returning!

Stodgy food. Went there thinking it would be nice to have a schnitzel, turned out to be very disappointing. Like food from a 1970s RSL club. Won't be going back again.

Average. Thought this was going to be something different and unique but same old schnitzel. Won't be coming back in a hurry.

Decent feed. Huge meals, good variety to pick from. Really good atmosphere, quality and flavours are good but won't blow you away. Enema hot sauce is far from hot, tastes just like franks hot sauce. Would go back though for quick easy meal.

Schnitzels not freshly cooked to order. The tables are very closely packed in, and the waiters have to try and weave around them holding quite large plates, They are unable to serve customers properly because of the cramped layout, and have to hand plates across the table. According to the menu, all meals are freshly prepared, so we were surprised that our meals arrived very quickly after ordering. With a lot of customers in the restaurant, it seemed unlikely that these meals were freshly cooked so quickly. After our first taste, our suspicions were confirmed - the meat was cold and the crumb that it was cooked in was soggy. There was no way that the schnitzels were freshly cooked. The chips were hot, so the impression is that they cook the schnitzels beforehand to save time, then when they get the orders, put the sauce on, add the chips and the salad and take to the customer. We complained, and the waitress was very pleasant - quick to apologise, take the meals back and offer us free drinks or coffee while we waited for our meals. After a more reasonable amount of time, ie to cook the meat properly, the meals came back and they were hot. However, the crumb was still soggy. One of us had ordered the Mexican Dirty Gringo, which promised jalapeno peppers. There were no peppers visible and the food had no discernable taste of jalapeno peppers - just a very slight tang. We complained again and the waitress said that she would check with the kitchen. She returned, saying that the peppers were combined in the mince meat topping. However, we said that we couldn't taste them at all and asked if we could have extra peppers. She was keen to oblige and brought out a small bowl of peppers, which helped the taste. She did say that the Mexican sauce wasn't made too spicy, as customers didn't like it. However, the description did give the impression of spice and heat. The chips being served in a separate little basket was good, as we dislike meat and gravy/sauce being put on top of chips, making them soggy. The hot crisp chips were really the best part of the meal. The small salad, also served in a separate little bowl was fresh and a good accompaniment. The service was good and our complaints were dealt with quickly and pleasantly. However we have had better schnitzels at pubs, e.g. the Britannia Hotel and the General Havelock.

Best schnitzel in Adelaide! The crumbing is so thin and flavoursome and the meat is so tasty! My favourite so far is the Dirty Gringo - Mexican style schnitzel. Love having the chips and salad separate. Amazing range of schnitzels available. Also tried the club sandwich for lunch which was very tasty. The service was fantastic both times I visited. Highly recommended!

So I've had a lot of schnits. Chicken Parmy aficionado since day dot. <br/><br/>I can honestly say that this place is my new schnitzel haunt. The vibe of the place is of an upmarket bistro but without the sound of the pokies, clean and slick. Walk up service, food came out quick. I got the Dirty Gringo and the missus got the Federer. Went with a couple who got the Clive Parma and Fully Schnit. We ended up sampling bits of each other's schnitzels, all were amazing, juicy and cooked perfectly, quick and happy service. <br/><br/>Really don't understand the reviews of people complaining about that it has a German motif but Italian chefs. Heaven forbid you go to a pub somewhere and an Indian chef may do your scotch fillet. Fools.

Hugely disappointing. Noticed that this place had popped up on Rundle Street when walking past it last Saturday night. It seemee busy enough and the pun filled menu seemed like a bit of fun. The Hoffbrau beer on tap also seemed like a win.<br/>So, on a Sunday afternoon, post Fringe show it seemed like a good idea. Er, no.<br/>The thing that immediately strikes you is that the 'branding' is deliberately Germanic. And yet, most of the staff are old italian blokes. I couldn't remember what was here before the Scnit House, but i wagered it was Italian.<br/>There's a fair selection of 'gourmet' schnitzels in a variety of protein sources and different toppings. Or there's burgera and pizzas (again, not exactly the most Germanic of menu items - clearly it was too distressing for them to contemplate ripping out the wood fires pizza oven, so they added this to the menu).<br/>Pretty much nothing went right. My other half ordered a grilled chicken burger, it arrived crumbed. My son's chicken nuggets were raw in the middle the first time. The second time they were cremated (just to make sure, clearly). And although my schnitzel was cooked, it was dry and of questionable quality. And to be honest, ridiculously big. I mean, seriously - i thought they'd brought out the 1kg schnitzel challenge by mistake. It could have been half the size and still be a generous portion.<br/><br/>The only chance you've got of me coming back here is for the beer. And i mean only for the beer.

So disappointed!. Went to this location starting several weeks ago and the food was good even though the service was slow (really enjoyed it so we went there several times in the span of 8 weeks), but it changed this week to schnithouse... truth be told not much to like. Preferred the food when this place was cucina forno. The atmosphere was greasy, dirty, and disappointing. My fiance ordered a burger well done and half of it was raw. Had a kransky, everything but the sausage was bland and dry or dry and cold. Service was really bad (much worse than its cucina forno days) and they gave away our reserved table.

The schnitzels here are available in various proteins being chicken, beef, pork, fish and vegetarian, and are available fried or crumbed. You can get a classic schnitzel with a choice of 8 different sauces or you can select one of the 20 gourmet varieties. Of course, if you don’t want schnitzel, there is a selection of pizzas, burgers, wraps, salads and desserts to choose from.
