Literally the best spicy fried chicken burger I’ve ever had. Moved to Melbourne recently and can’t find a spicy fried chicken burger that has as much flavour or kick as the hot bacon bird that these guys do. This is a place we always go to whenever we’re back in Adelaide.
Nice burger very tasty worth going. Busy when we were there and burger came in good time. Friend had one and loved it. Would eat there again
Burgastronomy has been a mainstay in the Adelaide burger scene for a while now and for good reason. They make delicious burgers, cooked well with high quality ingredients. The service i have always found genuinely friendly, food delivery times are good.
The only thing I can say is when you are ordering the X-tra hot burgers don't expect something extra hot. While still delicious they are far from extra hot.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Nth Adelaide and like burgers.
Their burgers are really tasty! Flavorful, juicy and fresh. The hot chicken burger is great, and a good size (imo).
Only thing was for me, there was this weird fatty after-taste in some bites of the burger. It tasted like the fatty parts of meat, I know some people don't mind that taste but I'm really sensitive to it. Idk if I could get past that to have the burger again.
I'd definitely recommend this place overall for a good quality burger
Came here in the afternoon to try the "hot bird" chicken burger, which I order with no bacon and as "hot" on the heat scale. The bun was delicious and all the ingredients tasted nice together, although next time I would order the extra hot as I didn't find this as hot as I had expected it to be. We had a side of sweet potato fries which were nice and crispy and went well with the BBQ chipotle sauce.
The service we received is also why I am giving them a five star - we walked in 5 minutes after it had closed and the guy working (possibly the owner) still let us in and served us without hesitation and was still very friendly and didn't seem like he was waiting for us to leave the whole time, even though we dined in. Overall a lovely experience and I would definetly go back again

Always a big fan of their hot bacon bird and their sweet potato chips. Cosy place always packed. Great customer service and a good variety of craft beers.good work guys
Very nice food and quick service. Loved it 😘 would definitely suggest burger 🍔 lovers to try it and would say it's the best burger ever eaten in Adelaide . Thank you 😊😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
The burgers at Burgastomony are amazing and worth the price. They are very filling and delicious! Better then hungry Jacks. The customer service is amazing they are friendly people and always try to please the customer!
The hot bacon bird is epic. My favourite burger in Adelaide.
Its small inside, i wish they would make it a little bigger but i guess thats what makes it good, its never too hard to get a burger.
Best Burger's in Adelaide, love their jalapeño poppers. It was very bust but still food came out in 15 mins. The customer service was spot on
Will be back again...
Still one of Poppys favourite Burger joints in Adelaide. One of the first to originally popup before the avalanche of burger shops establishing themselves on the Adelaide food scene. Still up there with the best, food quality, fitout and service wise. Love the sweet potato wedges as well, they're the icing on the cake of any burger at Burgerstronamy. Poppys personal favourite is the Trucker with added Chipotle BBQ sauce. Delicious. Can't go wrong. Thumb up, definitely worth an eat.
Great burgers and chips, would definitely dine here again! Reasonably priced and had a great atmosphere. Highly recommended. The Trucker burger is the go to!
Quite delicious, was overall quite happy with the meal but not 100% satisfied, especially in comparison to other places around Adelaide.....
Delicious ! Burgers were so tasty and just the right amount of everything on them. Sweet potato fries were a winner sweet salty and the best. Thank you and we will be back :-)
Great burgers! Cool and hip ambience as well and gotta love their sweet potato chips as they are crunchy and sweet as well as salty 👌🏻 only been a couple of times before but will be back soon
Excellent burgers. Can't fault this place for their service and quality of the food. Wasn't overpriced and serves were decent. Will be back for more.
Their sweet potato chips is amazeball. Crispy and crunchy. You also can choose either mayo, tomato, or chipotle bbq as a dip. A good size chips cost you 5 dollar or 4 dollar if u order with burger.
The chipotle beef burger was good as well and the price is reasonable ( $12)
Tried the trucker and hot mex (xtra hot) with chips as sides
Food came out quickly, serving size was good and reasonable prices
Found my chips to be average and a little on the dry side, although the other serve was better.
Really liked the burgers, the patty was cooked perfectly and really juicy, great tasting. I got one good hit of heat somewhere in the middle of the hot mex and the rest was a low burn to nonexistent so wouldn't have minded a bit more.
Also the trucker actually an egg that was honest to goodness perfectly gooey and didn't burst until I actually got to it. I swear every time I get an egg in a burger it's cooked completely through, not this time though :D Left feeling very full, would be happy to come back
Tried the hot bacon bird and sweet potato fries. I find the sweet potato fries nicely salted but it was a tad too over-fried/crispy. Not sure if it was suppose to be this way.
The hot bacon bird was not too bad. The sesame bun was soft on the outside and the chicken was crispy.
Great burgers, American styling but much cleaner, the sides are a decent serving and come with free sauce which was a nice touch. Price was reasonable, quality was good and the service was great. Relaxed atmosphere although not the comfiest of setup.
Seriously the best Burger in town. The Trucker is my favorite combined with sweet potato chips, its like heaven on earth. Yummmmm. Keep up the good work guys!
One of the best burgers I've had on Oconnell Street. Enjoyed every bite of the burger and for a good price. I also enjoyed the fried chicken as well.
A cute little burger joint. Perfect for a quick sit-have burger-go! Not for sitting around.
Burgastronomy serves American style burgers but minus the excessive amount of fat and oil like Nordburger, for example. My partner had the Trucker and I had the Signature. Both were decent. Probably the standout were sweet potato chips. I wouldn't bother with normal chips though.
Wouldn't mind coming back.
I thought I was out of the burger phase but boy, I think Burgerstronomy put be back in it! Went here for lunch with a group of 5 and it wasn't really busy for lunch time rush hour. Had the hot bird (x-hot) which had good flavour and a zesty hit of spice. We ordered sweet potato chips too which were delicious and definitely could have been eaten between two people. Good value for money, 16 bucks later and I am literally SO full I need a nap.
Stools a bit uncomfortable to sit on with tables at an awkward height but I guess chowing down a burger doesn't take too long. Will be back.

great place if your looking to dig in to a juicy burger! the chicken burger is yummy (so are the beef ones) and so are their chips, place is a little small inside so I try to avoid it when it's super busy.
Another amazing burger place for us Adelaidians! Burgastronomy, one of my first burger places i've been to in Adelaide and they are still one of my favourites. The shop itself is quite small and the menu is quite limited, but they sure provide you with some quality burgers. This place gets packed at night, so its better off getting takeaway if you don't want to wait. However, for the best experience, you should definitely dine in and eat the burger when its freshly made. I highly recommend their chicken burgers, as they are probably the best chicken burgers you can get in Adelaide. I've also tried a few of their beef and mushroom burgers, but they were nothing in comparison to their chicken. The chicken burgers were all deep fried perfectly, with little oil and very crunchy. The sauce that went with it also adds another level of flavour into it and it just makes you want to order more!
I also love their Jalapeno Poppers! The cheese and bacon filling would burst out as you take a bite. Be aware though if you're eating it straight away, the fillings can burn you.
Yummmm! It's a very delicious, fresh burger joint. It's great to find a "fast food" place where you can see what you are eating. And they don't skimp on the size either. It's a good meal for a good price. Better to do take away or eat early because it does have very limited seating. Otherwise it's a must try...on a weekly basis. 😄
Very impressed with this place, I ordered the signature burger which was faultless. It was easy to eat and the brioche bun was great and meat was cooked well also. I'd definitely recommend getting the sweet potato chips with the mayo, they were crispy and flavoursome and a decent serving size! Will definitely be coming back to order the chicken burger which is apparently pretty popular.
Yum, one of the best place to have burgers in Adelaide. Location is very good, the bus stop was right next to it which makes it a lot more easier for people who doesn't drive to get there. The burgers are nice I ordered the spicy chicken burger and loved it.
Good!. Great sweet potato fries + chicken burger
Delicious. One of the best burgers ive had in adelaide, a little too small though
Great burger. Tasty fresh bun, succulent patties. This is a good place for a quick bite.
Would recommend to ANYONE! My my they are tasty. $28 two huge burgers and a big bowl of sweet potato chips.
The meat was good quality and not fatty. Pickles had an amazing tangy crunch and the sauces were great. All in between the most perfectly puffy bun. If I lived in Adelaide id wanna go here every night!!
We went with starving bellies & left with deliciously full ones. Burgers were nice, fresh & good size. Tried the signature burger & trucker definitely recommend the trucker. Also had normal chips as well as sweet potato chips, these were unusual tasting not bad but I don't think i could eat a whole bowl of these on there own but good when eaten with the others. Worth the try if in or around the area!
Had The Signature & Jachmann Pink Lady cider. The burger was amazing, perfect serving size, all fresh produce. Fresh crisp Riverland local cider. Service with a big lovely smile. Cool music. Highly recommended.
Another burger joint. Ever since these burger places have been popping up around Adelaide, I've been wanting to try out as many as I could to find the best - I thought I'd start with this place.
I ordered the Chicken burger with sweet potato fries, the service was quick and polite, the places wasn't too crowded and it was a nice quick-eating spot. The chicken burger was nice, big, juicy chicken, maybe too much mayo but over all was good to eat. The sweet potato fries were a sad disappointment, they were burnt black and tasted burnt. I love sweet potato fries, so this was a let down. My bf had the cheeseburger which was just ok.
In all, a nice place for a quick bite - but nothing amazing
Went to the cosy burger bar with my partner and a friend just for a Friday night catch up. I had heard about the place and thought it would be nice to try. Having gone to a few other burger places in town I wasn't sure how it would stack up but thankfully it exceeded my expectations. The service was polite and quick. Although the place was busy, our meals came quickly and didn't seem rushed, which can so often be the case in 'rush hour'. The sweet potato chips were lovely and crunchy and the regular chips were fantastic too. I had the hot bacon and chicky burger which looked regular sized but really packed a punch who a zesty sauce and southern fried chicken. I also had a bite of the cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. All in all, a fantastic little place to grab a quick cider or beer with some good chips and a great burger. I will definitely be going back again!!
King of O'Connell. Love Burgastronomy. Tried the standard beef, chicken, and hot beef burgers (not in 1 sitting obviously) all were great! The chicken has it for me though, best chicken burger I've ever had! And another big plus over other burger joints, serves beer! Only negative point would be the lack of opening hours.
I would recommend to a friend, and I'll come back again and again.
Tasty!. The burgers are pretty tasty - the patty isnt the usual fatty kind, they must use a better cut of meat. they've got a small store space but a rustic decor that's cute.
Yummy!. Best burger joint in Adelaide! hands down!
One of the best burger places in Adelaide - wish there were more veg options, though. The mushroom burger is so flavoursome and chips are perfect.
Haven't had a bad burger yet, been 5 times. a little expensive, I prefer over burger theory by far
Mushroom burger and sweet potato fries were so good!! Food 9/10 cheese was a bit burnt, service 10/10 :)
Mot usually my thing but..... Rare working from home moment.......forgot about lunch and decided to try. Excellent result....simple but that is probably what makes it great....a bit weird as an older patron amongst the hipsters but all cool.
Good but not the best. Had a generally good Sunday night dining experience here. My partner & I ordered The Hot One and The Signature with sides of chips and the fried chicken. The sides came out first and we looked around for serviettes but there weren't any around. All of the food is finger food and no cutlery is provided so they should have some serviette dispensers on the tables for patrons to use as they are a necessity! The fried chicken was fantastic - super crispy skin but also oily so we were relieved when a napkin came out with our burgers. The chips were a bit overcooked and were under seasoned but the chipotle BBQ sauce on the side was good. The burger patties, on the other hand, were extremely salty! The Signature was delicious other than being too salty. The Hot One, ordered medium, was disappointingly bland-tasting and lacking any heat at all. Both patties had a bit of gristle in them. The buns were toasted on the inside but cold on the outside. We shared a 'Twisted Tea' which was refreshing however the best before date was March 2013 (8 months out of date). We let a staff member know and she seemed genuinely concerned and apologised, which we appreciated. We won't be in a hurry to go back but it wasn't a bad experience. We don't agree with those who said it was Macca's on a plate - it was much better than that. Just unfortunate that the chef was heavy-handed with the salt on this occasion. Go in and judge for yourself :)
WOW. My god... this place... I have been 4 times... each time I swear it out does itself... Its so damn good - the burgers dripping with fine mayo goodness and sweet potato triple fried chips polished off with a locally made beer. Get on it, get around it, what ever you do get to it. Must try burger goodness.
It was amazing! i had the trucker burger and my partner had the hot chicken one! wow best burgers we have ever had! get in early though! the place is small and popular! or you will have to wait in line to take a seat!
Sensational! Will come back!
Amazeballs!. This place has become a favourite of mine. The burgers are delicious in their simplicity and the staff are always so lovely! The sweet potato fries aren't bad either. Keep up the good work!
A burger, such a simple meal, meat, salad and sauce slapped between a bun, it amazes me that something so simple can at times be so delicious when cooked and assembled correctly.
Burgastronomy has quite simply hit the nail on the head! They have created a variety of mouth watering gourmet burgers that are the best I've ever tasted!
My personal favourite is the Hot Bacon Bird, delicious southern fried chicken, amazing homemade mayo and a BBQ chipotle sauce which I would happily buy by the bottle (if they sold it)
On top of the burgers a variety of beers and ciders are available which take you off the beaten track and allow to experience new and unexpected flavours!
10 out of 10!!!
OUTSTANDING! Deep fried perfect sides and delicious burger. Great prices. Stuffed chilli popper were amazing. Definitely eat here!
Best Burgers In Town!. Lovely staff and amazing burgers! i thought fancy burger was pretty good but really lets be honest.. you can't beat authentic american style burgers and beers!
I have been a few times now and the third time i went i got the signature without cheese, mayo and tomato sauce! It was still filled with flavour and i will definitely continue to go back.
A decent sized meal. Upon arriving at Burgastronomy, I noticed it was already fairly small and could do with a upgrade on the size. The diner would fit no more than 15 people at a time, which was a bit displeasing condsidering it was already partially full. When the time came to order there was a wide selection of burgers to choose from, there was different meats available to choose from which was good. The pricing was reasonable, although the Jalapeno Poppers would have been nice to have, the pricing of them and the amount recieved was not acurate.
After ordering a waiting for a table to become available we sat down and began to eat. The burger was filling and had a great bun with a nice thick patty. Paying an additional cost for chips they were to filling after the burger and were also to greasy and appeared to be cooked in old oil.
The atmosphere of the diner was nice and warming, can be compared to having a gourmet burger at home. The art work on a side of the wall was colourful and different to say the least.
The service of the food was quick and wasnt to long compared to other burger diners in Adelaide and a line going outside the door on a friday night meant that the food would have to taste good as it appeared to have a great reputation.
In conclusion if the diner had a bigger dining area it would experince would have been better, the service was quick and helpful and the burger tasted fresh and had a good aroma to it. Would recomend this diner to friends and family and would come back again for a reasonable priced burger
Delicious and Lovely Staff!. Stuffed Jalapeño's... need I say more?
Great tasting burgers. Jui.... Great tasting burgers.
Juicy perfectly cooked beef, nice pickles and delicious bread. Great stuff.
Everything done right. Ordered the Trucker burger, which is one of their larger burgers. Every ingredient in the burger was done just right. Highly recommended. The sweet potato chips are also great. Don't forget to get some dipping sauces for them.
Good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced, however we were told it would be a 35 minute wait after we ordered which actually took 55 minutes to get our 2 takeway burgers and fries.. so if your in a rush on a friday night dont go there!
Great food! Polite staff! You can't go wrong here.. It's what a burger should taste like
The sauces on the burgers were really good. I had the signature. Jalapeño poppers are delicious if you're into a bit of spice and cheesy goodness. Was pleasantly surprised with the corn fritters too. All in all, nice atmosphere and good service. I'd eat here again.
Somewhere that knows how to cook a burger medium-rare.
IMHO the best burgers in Adelaide!
Kool, quick, easy. Owner is young passionate, came over & said hi, asked how burger was... The old saying KISS. Keep It Simple Stoopid
Great burgers, tried them all and the fried chicken burger is my favorite. The sweet potato fries are an absolute must.
Good!. I went to Burgastronomy a few times when it first opened up. The mushroom burgers were SO delicious (and I really loved the 'tangy' cheese, referred to in a comment below!). I'm usually put off by 'veggie burgers' that just contain a mushroom, but these were HUGE and meaty and really flavoursome (despite being a bit sloppy - roll up yer sleeves!). The sweet potato chips are the best I've had and the house-made sauces are delicious. The only complaint is that the last couple of times I had the veggie burger, the mushrooms were a bit small... Oh and I think they should use the cheeseburger buns (those shiny, squishy, American-style buns) for all the burgers! Overall, great burgers and chips, and I definitely recommend!
I like it, but they definitely aren't the best burgers in town! Seems to be very inconsistent with the buns, fillings etc. But the flavour is always good and the staff are friendly!
Great meal. Had the hot bacon bird and hubby had the signature. Also scared some jalapeño poppers and sweet potato fries. Food was quick, service friendly and very well priced for what it was. Will be back!
Truly excellent burgers, and if you so desire one of the few places where that can make it proper spicy.
Very friendly staff and good prices are icing on the cake. Highly recommended
, especially if you want to avoid the crowd at the north adelaide burger bar.
Yes !. This has become my favourite burger place - i just find the burgers really satisfying - obviously they pay a lot of attention to the quality of the meat. I also really like the slaw when I feel like something salady with my burger. It has a different flavour to your usual slaw - perhaps slightly peppery - and is quite refreshing.
Ermahgerdddddd amazing! Sweet potato chips are to die for! Went with about 6 of us and each person was more than pleased with their meals! Will definately be returning. Best burger joint in adelaide easily.
Most delicious burgers I have ever consumed! I honestly didn't know food could be so amazing. Live interstate now and I'm already planning a trip back just for the burgers.
Cheeseburger was very good, very tasty pickles! Only slight downside was a little too much sauce on the burger. Chips were also very good, fast service and accommodating friendly staff. The Larger burgers look a bit too big to me, but I'm sure many will appreciate this. All in all very good and in my opinion much better than burger foundry and perhaps also burger theory?
The food at this place is awesome. They pride themselves on quality & it shows in the burgers. Up there with some of the best burgers I've had in the US. Fantastic!!
Awesome Burgers. Great service in addition to a great range of burgers, we are so lucky...I'm
salivating as I write. My favourite burger is the cheese burger with double cheese but I Iove the free bird as well. This really is the stuff legends are made of.....I highly recommend Burgerstronomy to all the burger lovers out there.
Best cheese burger I have EVER had!! And the sweet potato fried were outstanding!! Already planning when I can come back!
Was excited to try the new burger joint in north adelaide and was very impressed with the signature burger I ordered. A simple burger but one that defiantly satisfied! Can't wait to go back.
Adelaide's Best Burgers. There is a new Burger contender in town and they are smashing it. Absolutely fantastic burgers and a wonderful broad menu. Amazing quality of ingredients, everything tasted super fresh and you could literally taste the love in every bite. The Jalapeno poppers will change your life. The coleslaw is the best, frshest coleslaw ive ever tried. Can't wait to go back.
Hello Good Food!. Due to a lack of decent burger joints in Adelaide, I was very excited to try Burgastronomy after hearing great things. I was not disapointed!!! Our burgers were of the charts good. Its clear to see and taste that a lot of time and thought has gone into these simple but perfected burgers. The sides offered are just as good, again simple but well thought through. The setting and staff offer a great vibe, which is freindly and cool. I have been back several times and been just as stoked!
Well done Burgastronomy!
Oh and prices are good!
Delicious! The house made mayo was nicely balanced between acid and creamy, and the chipotle sauce got me licking the dribbles on my husband's plate. The bun had substance, and the pattie was toothsome; juicy and properly meaty. I'll be going back.
I have lived & worked all around Australia. I have been awarded in the top 101 in the world in hospitality and I have NEVER in my life had a burger tastier than the Burgastronomy cheeseburger in my life! Gives McDonald's, Grill'd and all of the burger places around a bad name! Never going anywhere else again!!! Service is amazing. All of their sides are amazing. You can tell the effort that has been put in to their sauces, buns & patties.
Don't be stupid by missing out. Get in there today..... Possibly now... GO!
Probably the best burger i've had in Adelaide. Unpretentious, good, simple food in a great setting. It's a bit pricey I guess, but for this normally stingy diner, totally worth it. Felt so happy eating my burger while watching the traffic go by.
Not just another burger joint. After being very underwhelmed by Adelaide's burger offerings, I'm glad to say that Burgastronomy satisfies that craving very well. My brother and I went for lunch, only a few days after the place had opened. I ordered a cheeseburger, and my brother, a hot bacon bird (chicken burger). For sides we got the slaw, chips and the sweet potato chips.
First off, I cannot recommend the sweet potato chips enough! While both styles of chips seem to be the frozen kind, it's too often that you encounter bad, soggy chips due to the fryer not being hot enough. Not so at Burgastronomy! I know I'm sounding like a paid advert, but doing good chips should not be so difficult or hard to come by!
The beef burgers use a very similar blend to other burger joints in Adelaide, using hand-ground MSA Coorong Angus beef. However, the burger I had was much better - there was a bit more 'crusty stuff' on the burger. I think it's only seasoned with salt, no pepper. The owner has also imported a heavy-duty meat grinder from the US, which features prominently in the decor. The fried chicken in the chicken burger was also very well-seasoned, being both juicy and wonderfully crisp at the same time.
Burgastronomy makes all their own sauces - we sampled the ketchup, mayo, and cheeseburger sauce (which is a mix of the ketchup and wholegrain mustard). I didn't have any of the chipotle BBQ sauce, but I'd guess it was also made in-house. The buns seems to be different for each burger, tailored to what's inside. The cheeseburger has a light and airy bun, reminiscent of a classic burger bun. The chicken burger has a much more robust bun, which is definitely better suited than a light brioche bun.
Other notes:
Service was speedy, but we did go for a late lunch (around 2pm), so take that with a grain of salt.
Prices are reasonable, the only thing I baulked at was one (1) jalapeno popper for $3.50
They advertise burger and beer, but I think they're still applying for the liquor license.
Open until 11pm from Thursdays to Saturdays.
They sell Pasito!
Burgastronomy may just seem like 'yet another burger joint', but this is definitely one to watch. Definitely coming back!
Located in North Adelaide this small burger joint designed similar to an American burger bar brings a simple menu. We have tried a few of the beef burgers and to be honest there wasn't a big
There you have it, Burgastronomy undeniably lived up to its reputation. The staff are super friendly, and while it’s not the largest menu – their burgers are of a standard that will definitely keep me coming back for more – highly recommended.

Burger bars have been opening left right and centre in Adelaide for the past year, and the most recent one of these is in the middle of North Adelaide on O'Connell street: Burgastronomy. On the menu, there are 4 beef burgers, 2 chicken burgers and 1 vegetarian with additional sides and drinks.
Burgastronomy Signature beef burger: hand ground MSA premium grade beef, lettuce, cheese, pickles, tomato ketchup and mayonnaise; $11.00 Sweet potato chips; $3.00 (with burger) Corn fritters (3pc); $7.00 Burgers burgers burgers. It’s almost like there’s a new burger joint at every corner on our popular city streets. A small snack was had at the newly operated Burgastronomy on the corner of O’Connell and Ward Street in North Adelaide. Notable mentions go out to their sweet potato chips and corn fritters. Both were oh so crispy, the sweet potato chips sweet and moreish and the corn fritters super juicy and naturally sweet! The burgers here are absolutely delicious here. The chicken pieces are juicy, crispy and well seasoned 😋😋😋. The chicken paired with the spicy mayo dipping sauce is yummmm.
Love the burgers and was our go to place when we used to live in the city. We still do visit the shop once in a while and love it <3
Ordered Smoking Bird burger and my mistake didn’t realised it had Bacon and I don’t eat Bacon.
Went to counter and peeps over here were so friendly they made me new burger with no question asked and that too with smile.
Burger and chips were absolutely delicious.
Very cool. Staff very friendly, fun to chat with. Food is great. I don’t normally like sweet potato fries but these are really nice. Burgers are great, good quality meat. Trendy music and good location. Only reason for 4 stars is that it is a little small, and I hope they can expand to a bigger location to fit more in.
One of my favourite burgers in Adelaide - fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The sweet potato fries are also awesome! Generally quick service with friendly staff and a good menu choice. The jalapeño poppers are also very tasty and not soggy like they can sometimes be. The fried chicken is also good, however not the reason you want to visit this place. You can't go wrong with a burger and sweet potato fries from here!
