Went on a date night with my husband on a thursday night, it doesn't has a fancy shop front but food was definitely amazing. Very cozy Japanese restaurant. We enjoyed a great selection of sake and plum wines. Everything was cooked perfectly, will definitely come again!

Their sashimi is really fresh and nice, Salmon belly is a must try!

Cute little family run spot. Reasonably priced Bento Box lunch with your choice of main and sushi, sashimi, miso soup, rice and salad. Sadly no yakitori at lunch.

Used to be my favorite restaurant till today. Got served cold rice. Not even room temperature. Mentioned that to their staff and she said it’s unusual. Then she walked away…

We had a great night last night after finding this restaurant, recommended by a Japanese girl who used to work here. The food was fantastic- the sushi, rice, karaage, yakitori - all of it was great! The beer was ice cold and service super sweet and friendly

The best Japanese restaurant in Adelaide. Food was incredible, from the fresh wasabi to the yakatori. Stumbled upon this gem and forever grateful that we did. Exceptional

Under staffed had me waited for almost an hour for the first dish chicken skewer on a Sunday night, even seated, I had to go to the counter for a menu myself. The waitress should have told me the long waiting time in the first place. Food is slightly above average tho expensive. My advise is to save your money for a Japan trip 🎋

This is such a cool place, it does feel like you have stepped into a Japanese café, just like in Japan!

Great little outdoor area where they do cook your food in front of you in traditional Izakaya style.

They have Friday happy hour on drinks and food as well! Service is lovely and attentive, food is nice and tasty, not the best I have ever had, but I would still return because I just love this feel good place! And of course there are plenty more items on the menu that I need to try!

Definitely worth a visit, specially on a Friday night!

Close to work and my all time favorite bar so Nishiki needed to be good - and it is. A casual Japanese eatery/bar or Izakaya. I’m no sake expert but they have a great range I am slowly baking my way through. Nice Miso (so important for me at Japanese restaurants) and in the evenings some totally blow your mind grills.

As you can tell - I’ve eaten here a number of times. Love it - and I hope you do too!

After some drinks with friends we came across this restaurant. The restaurant was full but the staff offered us to eat out in the rear courtyard. What a beautiful space with nice lighting and heaters it was like a private dining room and perfect. In summer it would be full of diners. The menu is simple and exactly what you would expect in a Japanese restaurant. The presentation was stunning. The produce and seafood was all so fresh. The staff were wonderful and the drinks menu was great. So very impressed with the amazing food and service.

What a find. Cute izakaya with delicious food. Loving the vibe. Bar/Japanese tapas food with drinks to match. Definitely will be here again.

I loved this little Izakaya. We sat outside on a hot summer night to cold asahi, Japanese tapas and sashimi. The sashimi was solid mix of fresh snapper, tuna, kingfish, scallop, mackerel and the crowd-favourite of salmon. The service was prompt and so was the food. The BBQ veggies (king oyster is recommended) were yum too. It's a small, friendly and inspired Japanese restaurant and look forward to visiting next time I'm in Adelaide.

We dined in here serval times but service never improves. Food is generally okay but not fantastic. Always forget order and quiet often comes out wrong dishes to table that we didn’t order. It’s just really hard to find a good Japanese restaurant in Adelaide. But still there is a better place than this. Btw, sake and beer in here is quiet nice but what you can get from here is just same as what u can see in the other Japanese restaurant as well.

Fantastic Japanese restaurant overall. Grilled meats are excellent. Highlights include the unagi and squid. Sometimes they also have tuna belly sashimi and nigri, which is always a bonus! Satisfied every time we come here to eat.

It’s a small Japanese restaurant just off Sturt st from KWS. Good service. Great food. The Unagi was literally melting in my mouth. Our favourite was the King Prawn. I like the Nasu to an extent, but didn’t fancy the sticky grilled eggplant skin. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Loved it!

It's a little slow because they have to make it all on the grill made to order but the flavours are so good and it's so tender. Definitely worth the wait. We tried the nigiri and the aburi set - both fresh and delicious. The sauce on the aburi was amazing. The whole meal came to ~$70 for 2 ppl but that's because we ordered loads of seafood. I thought it was worth it.

The menu is small but I quite like how they focus on a small number of things and get it right (much like restaurants in japan) rather than focus on variety.

It was delicious and the service was lovely, we will be back soon.

Sushi is fresh and food is ok however our experience wasn't great. We were a table of 5 - drink order wasn't correct and food order wasn't correct even after clarifying. We ordered assorted meat platter but got a assorted chicken platter (with 5 skewers) and our servings of rice was completely missed. The menu i felt was limited in comparison to other Japanese restaurants in the CBD area. I won't be coming back based on the service.

EXCELLENT CHAR-GRILLED FOOD
Its a small cafe with an open kitchen. The service was a bit slow and the food brought out in a strange order: the rice was served about 2/3 of the way through the meal.
Fabulous pork dumplings.
Delicious dipping sauces with a lot of dishes.
I have never before in my life sucked on a piece of fish but the chargrilled kingfish special was so good that after I had removed all the sweet succulent meat, I spent a long time savouring the flavours on the flippers & carcass. Ditto with sucking the juice out of the hollow of the grilled prawn's head.
Tomatoes are my fav food & the grilled tomatoes were fantastic.
My husband enjoyed his grilled wagyu beef skewer.
The black sesame icecream was underwhelming.
Wine options are limited.

This gem of a place is currently my no.1 Japanese restaurant in Adelaide. Simple Japanese food done well. I've got nothing to fault here. Their aburi salmon is the best I've had hands down !
