Review Dear Daisy - Adelaide

Alexander Furtado
Cosy little cafe located very close to the tram line in Forestville. Went in there when I was in the area walking my dog. Came across other patrons sitting at the outside tables with their dogs so it's seems like a nice place to stop and enjoy a short break. You need to place your order at the front counter and pay for it. There are tables and chairs inside the cafe but they were all occupied at the time, so we occupied the tables at the back. The coffee served here is one of the best I've had. After reading some of the other reviews, I feel a bit disappointed that I didn't try some of the other items on the menu. Well, I can always visit the place some time soon... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great Vegan options. Always great friendly service from all the staff everytime I have been. The coffee is very good. It's a great place to cater for vegan and non vegan they have equal options. Lots of breakfast food as well as burgers. And a cabinet with muffins and sweets. Also fresh squeezed juice.

Lovely little cafe with outside and inside seating option. Pet friendly , nice breakfast options , have freshly baked muffins and cakes, cold press juice and smoothies.

Dear Daisy is a small family friendly Cafe with predominantly indoor but also some outdoor seating, they make great breakfast/lunch food and coffee. The Cafe has a nice and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of indoor plants. What they do, they do VERY well. Using local ingredients including from the Adelaide Hills they have crafted a complex menu to suit all tastes and dietary requirements (very gluten free, vegan, and vego friendly if that is your taste). This Cafe not only has a cutting edge menu but also an array of high quality baked goods, many gluten free! The cookies are worth stopping in for just on their own, but make sure to grab a coffee as well as it is great! The staff are very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Booking is recommended but walk-in and takeaway welcomed.

Located conveniently next to the forrestville tramstop Dear Daisy is such a good spot for coffees and food. Staff was very friendly and were super clear about seating and ordering. The decor inside was also very pretty with the various indoor plants and cute Christmas themed touches like the holly in the vases. I ended up ordering the Brekkie Burger which might be the best brunch burger i’ve ever had in my life. It smelt so good I accidentally started eating before taking my photo and therefore the photo doesn’t do it full justice. Unsurprisingly, it tasted very yummy too, with the crunchy hash brown and delicious BBQ sauce. Overall such a great lunch experience and I look forward to visiting again soon.

The biggest thank you for the amazing service I received today! I accidentally ordered a non-vegan meal and when I realised my mistake they replaced it for me - no questions asked! This was above and beyond the call of duty. They are the most beautiful little cafe and I can’t recommend them enough! Everyone visit them if you get the chance!

One of my favourite cafes with a great range of vegan meals! The chai latte was divine, however the pancakes could’ve been nicer if there were more fresh strawberries rather than dehydrated. Just personal preference though! Service was great too.
Luigi Cordaro
Great place for brekkie or brunch. Coffee was fantastic! The venue is small, so you have to book for 4 or more people. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available. Will definitely come back!

This Cute little local cafe provides a delicious choice of meals for breakfast and lunch, vegan or vegetarian or not there’ll be something for you!
Mashedpotato
Unfortunately one of the worst breakfasts we have had. The menu was uninspiring. The beans with ham hock had less than a table spoon of ham. The fritters were soggy and not of a nice texture. The eggs yolks were pale

I have had breakfast a few times here and the food is consistently good. The eggs Benedict in particular are my favourite but the house beans and baked eggs are also good. Coffee is great and there are good vegan choices including a tofu scramble (which my dining buddy rated v highly). Only downside is the noise level as it is quite small and when busy it is hard to hold a private conversation over the volume.

I had the Hallo Me burger. Over all I thought the food was tasty and was great price as the serving was so big. Great service, staff were very friendly and willing to adapt orders to our liking. The cafe had a very relaxed vibe which is great for a morning breakfast or coffee with friends.

Had such a wonderful time at Dear Daisy this morning. It's was so nice being able to bring my toddler to breakfast with me and him be so well treated and looked after in the cafe. Even if it meant him leaving with a face full of chocolate from his delicious baby chino! Staff were very friendly and attentive. Coffee and food was amazing, and very well priced. A perfect little corner cafe, we will definitely be back!
Poppie
Barely a pass mark. Great hidden location and cool little fit-out which is a throwback to Poppies grandparents house with the mirrors, plates, tables etc. However food was average and the coffee was highly lackluster. Table service was also a bit off, had a hint of smugness and hipster arrogance. Poppie ordered the Smashed Avocado, it was pretty standard. Only difference being it had some fresh dill on top and some pumpkin seeds scattered around the plate. Besides that pretty stock standard avocado on wholemeal with poached eggs. Nothing spectacular or original to set it apart from any other breakfast eatery. What was most disappointing was the Babyccino (Cappuccino) Poppie was served. It would have to be one of the weakest coffees Poppie has ever had. Poppie honestly thought it was only warm milk with cocoa powder on top and they had forgotten to drop the shot of coffee in it. Terrible coffee. Poppie can't really recommend this place unless you're a local and it's convenient. Wouldn't go out of you way to try Dear Daisy. Thumb down, Not worth an eat

Very impressive little café. I have been there quite a few times now and have always received friendly and attentive service. The food, coffee and smoothies are all delicious and very reasonably priced. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!
Vivienne
Lovely little cafe, perfect for a quiet breakfast or coffee with a friend. The food is delicious (try the French toast!) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Fast becoming one of my favourite breakfast spots! It's also a great choice for vegans and vegetarians. There are loads of tasty options!

Was here for late lunch 2 weeks ago and ordered the Hello Me. Service here is good and not overly attentive. My "breakfast" came with baked sweet potato fries which I was a bit disappointed in because they were flaccid. But the rest of my plate was delicious! Would recommend this joint as a local place to frequent for a coffee or a when you feel too lazy to cook.

Dear Daisy is one of my favourite suburban gems. A secret I want to keep so close from the rest of the world. There’s just something about this place I love. Sitting in a small row of shops across the railway, you could easily miss it. This cafe is full of charm with the friendliest service. We have visited a number of times and yet never blogged about it so here it is.

Just the name of the cafe was enough to get me there. Yes the owner shares the same name with me. It is a brekky/ brunch place located in the suburb of Forestville and close to the tram line. This little cute cafe offers a range of breakfast item menus, coffees and milkshakes at a good price. A great little place with friendly staff, and great coffees too!

Mighty impressed with the food at Dear Daisy.

I ordered 'The Big Veg' with a side of haloumi and it was MASSIVE. A delight when served up to me, but of course more than I needed. Flavours were great; my only criticism is that the fritter was on the soft side.

My friend really liked 'The Spinach and Fetta Sanga', which looked modest in size next to my dish, but was more than enough thanks to that thick and tasty Turkish bread.

Staff were pleasant, and we definitely want to come back to sample more.
Milkpaste
Great service and really friendly staff. Coffee is consistently perfect and never burnt. Massive range of gluten, vegetarian and vegan free options. Great spot for breakfast, lunch or coffee 9/10

Charming little cafe, lovey food and coffee, nice staff and and quick service :) Also the vegetarian/vegan menu is stellar, my vegetarian partner really appreciated having so many yummy options to choose from.

Great little breakfast and lunch spot. The food and coffee are always tasty. Most recently I had a halumi and vegetable buger that was just delicious.

Had the eggs benny this morning. Very good fresh produce, poached eggs were perfect!! Coffee is good and everything at reasonable price. Will definitely go back 👌👌

Another little brekky brunch place to check it out around goodwood. Small cafe situated at a busy road. Has indoor and outdoor seating but outdoor seating is quite minimal. Very near to a busy road, if you bring your pets along, be extra careful. Menu presented is quite interesting and attractive. There are some classic brekky and some of their own specials.
Services - friendly staffs to greet customers. Very attentive. Food and beverages are served pretty fast.
Food - one of the classic dish I love is poached eggs on toasted sourdough with avocado, crumbled feta and the extra pepitas for healthy crunch. Eggs are poached to perfection. Love the avocado spread, it's not too creamy and smooth, some chunks of avocado to chew on. The other dish we had is haloumi burger with sweet potato fries. The haloumi was delicious with the lightly toasted bun, caramelised onion and Veges. The most dissapointed part is the sweet potato chips. It is soft and soggy. When it's chips, u will be expecting crunchy and crispy - but that's ain't the case.
Beverage - coffee is good here. Nice aroma and medium strong. Coffee served semi warm, might ask for hot coffee next time. They also have a glass cabinet selling some sweets to go with your cuppa.

Nice cafe definitely good for brekky. Definitely would recommend and be back for more.

Incredible food, service and value for money. Not over the top and homey feels. Such a hidden gem! The menu has so much variety and theres such a nice outdoor area for seating at the back! Worth a try 100% especially if you love sunday morning breakies

A little gem nestled in the burbs.
The place is not big but the food and coffee was great.

I had The Scrofu which is a vegan version of a scrambled egg. No I'm not vegan but if I was I would be very happy with this. Full of flavour and well seasoned and I would happily order the dish again over meat dishes.

The better half has the fritters and that too was delicious. Not heavy but light and jam packed full of flavour.

If you have not been here yet, it's a must. Will gladly go back there again.

This place plays a great drinks game. Its a small space with just a few friendly faced staff so you may have to wait a couple of minutes but it is worth the wait.

Popped in for breakfast bright and early
I ordered the eggs Benny
Delicious to the last bite
Staff were very lovely and the decor bright and uplifting
Recommend

Really fantastic food, cute little cafe in a good location, easy to access by tram or bike too. Have a beautiful range of vegetarian and vegan breakfasts at really great prices. A must try!
Coco
Had the outrageously delicious Big Vegan breakfast- downright best vegan breakfast I've ever had... Coffee was superb too. Will most certainly be back for more!

When we went, their customers were mostly ladies in their 20s-30s so there was a lot of loud chatting.

Pumpkin burger sounded and looked good. I couldn't taste any pumpkin in the pumpkin/zucchini fritter-patty and I thought the burger bun was too thick.

My lunch companion's beef burger was quite lean, which we suspected meant there was a bit of compromise on taste.

Sweet potato chips tasted more shallow-fried than deep-fried.

We'll probably be back as their other menu options look very promising, just maybe not for the burgers.

Oh, and we left feeling like we had a healthy, fresh-tasting, non-greasy lunch.

Visited for lunch on Monday. Maybe 10 others in the restaurant. Took 45 minutes for poached eggs to come. I asked about the slow service after 40 minutes, and was told "yeah, yeah it's coming", as if my question was strange. At the end when paying, I was actually asked what I had. I could have said anything. There was no record of what we had ordered
Honestly_nadz
Friendly local cafe by the Forestville tram stop. Great coffee and banana smoothies with a good variety of breakky and lunch offerings at a great price.
Friendly staff and a good spot to soak up the morning sun if you don't mind the CLANG CLANG of the tram bells every 5 minutes or so! A little outside area just down the gravel driveway is a little more peaceful.

Incredible food and sups friendly, cruisey staff. Meat lovers and vegan options abound so there's something for everyone. Coffee is consistently epic, and the sweets fridge deserves more than just a look-in. My fave brunch hangout.

Decent for a brekky/brunch .
I had brekky here this morning with a girlfriend. We got there quite early for a Sunday (0930) and watched as the place got busy and then as it went a bit quieter again, around midday (yes, a long catch up).
Dear Daisy offers a good selection of savory breakfast options, but only two sweet options. So, I was very pleased when they let me swap bacon for berries with French toast (it already had ice cream and maple syrup included). It was delish! Black coffee was OK, cappuccino tasty. Service was initially attentive but at times got a bit distracted. The place is quite cute with pretty simple decor. I wouldn't mind coming back again :)

I visited Dear Daisy a few months ago. Small shop with very friendly staff. Good vegan options, I had the big breakfast and it was BIG! Scrambled tofu needed a bit more flavour but was an enjoyable hungover breakfast.

Edit: Tofu scramble has imported, lots more flavour👌🏼

On my regular Saturday hunt for a brunch destination and after the successful find of a neighbourhood gem in The Stranded Store (see my review here), I (Amanda) looked for something similar nearby and came across Dear Daisy. The street is not as pretty to look out to as it is located right by the tram tracks but it is a cute casual little corner store within. As it is a sunny Autumn day we decide to sit outside on one of the available 3 tables for 2 after I order and pay at the counter.

Best coffee ever!! Delicious vegan big breakfast and reasonably priced. Scrambled tofu with cheese is something different.. Only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I only got one mushroom with it!! 😕
Sharky
Haloumi burger is so good and the staff are super friendly. Also the green smoothie, it's good and makes me feel like a person who is successful at life.

Breakfast is my favourite meal, so naturally when I heard about another quaint neighborhood breakfast cafe I got really excited!
The food was ok, nothing special. I thought the bread on my eggs Benny wasn't the best and they kind of smothered the whole thing in hollandaise. It was still tasty though but maybe a little less next time. Coffee was average.
Michelle
Only been here once and really liked my pulled pork bun and coffee. Will be back soon
Laura
Great little cafe with an awesome vegan menu. The scrambled tofu needed quite a lot of seasoning but the texture was great and I've noticed that they've changed it to be more flavoursome. Can't wait to go back.

I keep going back. I absolutely love this place. Great soy coffee that I love. The pulled pork burger is easily my favourite and that potato salad. OH MY GOD. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

DEAR DAISY. My wife and I love the Dear Daisy Café. One of the reasons is that we have a granddaughter by the name of Daisy. Another is that we are only about 50 metres away. However, we love the coffee, the food, the service and the friendly manner of Mark, Stephanie and the staff.

In the warmer months, I really appreciate their iced soy coffees. They are a delight.

The menu is not extensive and the food is fairly plain, but well presented, Fortunately for spicy eaters like myself, Dear Daisy always has a variety of hot sauces to spice up the tucker.

During the cold months, there are some excellent soups and not long after the café opened, a beautifully prepared Indian curry was on the menu. They have not continued with this as not too many of the local punters went for it - sadly.

This is a very popular local spot.

Had high hopes after reading the reviews on urban spoon, but we were very disappointed. Coffee took nearly half an hour to arrive, and food over an hour. The lemon and dill hollandaise looked like beaten egg yolks, and had no flavour at all. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly however. I wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast.
Currawong11
Now my local. I started coming here for the iced almond milk coffees as my old local up the road Wouldn't do them. my partner didn't want to change locals at first but was won over by Dear Daisy's delish breakfast menu and coffee (the smash + poached eggs + salmon is my fav), now you will see us enjoying breakfast there every Saturday if not lunch. I still haven't worked my way through much of the menu but can also say the pulled pork burger left me smiling also.

Sunday morning brekky. What a cool place.... a real local feel about it. I met my daughter for brekky and sat outside. I had the Big brekky and my daughter had the Vegetarian breakfast. Probably a pretty standard fare, but the service, great coffee and ambience really sets the place apart. It's only small, probably seats about 35 and there is a great little nook out the back if you bring your puppy....
Claire Lillian
Dear Daisy is just a solid 'burbs cafe. Well priced and delivers exactly what it says on the menu. Coffee was also pretty good. But unfortunately (despite being ok over all) there's nothing dragging me back really soon. Service was a little slow. Dear Daisy has a very family friendly vibe, so it probably is a crowd pleaser for the young family demographic.

This amazing duo has been on our regular weekend coffee run since they opened! Always amazing coffee, super friendly and lovely service. To top it off they cater to my ridiculous intolerances amazingly! These guys are the best!

Dear Daisy's is the best coffee in town. We love our local Coffee Shop Felicity and Mark make you feel so welcome and we can not wait to call and have those yummy cakes and a delicious coffee. We are so lucky to have this fantastic coffee shop in our neighbour hood well done to you both keep up the friendly service you are the best. It is so pleasing to have such a lovely young and enthusiastic couple running this coffee shop. Cheers Joy and Dean

Cute cafe, great staff. We enjoyed our brekky here but a major disappointment was that my poached eggs weren't runny in the big brekky and the baby spinach was like supermarket bought. The cafe has plenty of potential, with a bit more attention to the food it will go a long way.
HelenK
Delicious coffee, great vibe, but the 'big' brekkie was disappointing. Pls add a second egg and don't butter the toast!
BH
Great coffee, great service and very friendly people. The eggs florentine and French toast was fresh and really well priced. Will be back

Daisy Big Brekky a Winner. Couldn't stop at just the breakfast had to sample some of the Bliss Bites & Brownies & ordered a iced mocha to go to extend the wonderful experience that is Dear Daisy! Exceptionally friendly service, appealing menu and good pricing will see us return. Oh & loved the decor!
Angie
Nice little place for a quiet brunch, the spud salad (which came with the pulled pork bun as a special dish that day) was really nice. Creamy and chunky with bursts of capers!

Lovely little cafe. Nice quiet spot. Tasty food, great coffee and lots of gluten free options for those who need it.

Small breakfast cafe next to the railways in the Unley area called Dear Daisy. Reasonable priced food and tasted decent. The place is packed with locals but didn't have to wait long for food.It is located right next to the railways .The café is small with a hand full of seats. The decoration inside was simple but cute. There were quite a selection in the breakfast section but like most other breakfast places it has a variation of dishes with eggs cooked in different ways.
