Amazing good food at a great price! My favourite go to place for comfort food. Highly recommend the steamed chicken rice dish/ roti canai with chicken curry/ satay chicken š.
A very family friendly place with great service and equally delicious food. A combination of vegetarian /vegan , meat friendly meals that I cannot fault. Huge range of non alcoholic drinks. My only flaw here is no BYO. Would recommend to friends and come again.
Iāve been here couple of times. Love the Hainan Chicken with rice! Their milk tea was not bad too. Great service and good food, highly recommend!
I love this place because it's simple, easy and the service is straight forward. It's basically the McDonald's of Malaysian food: not the best, not the worst, but consistent. You know exactly what to expect. The drinks are always the best and the staff will leave you alone to eat in peace.
Friends took as here the first time and had gone back multiple times. The food is really excellent. With an array of food on offer, from super spicy to those who canāt handle any spice. Good casual dining experience.
YR Score: F3.5/E3.5/R3.5

Food - food was decent. one of our dish (nasi lemak) tasted as expected, whilst the other (curry flat noodles) could be more flavourful. Not bad for a Malaysian food.Ā
Experience - Nice Malaysia modern coffee shop setting. The one thing that I was a little disappointed is that there is an extra charge for the sambal. I know many places does, but a decent nasi lemak place in Malaysia would not have done so.Ā
Returning - there are other decent Malaysian restaurants around the area that I might go for in the first instance. Saying that I would still return once in a while.
have been here a few times and would come back. the most interesting thing about this restaurant is the drinks menu(massive), where you can get a different one each time. all were great.
Friendly customer service and the food is nice!! The restaurant seemed quite busy when we walked in but we didn't have to wait for long at all for the food come out after we made our order! The only thing is that the drink that i ordered for myself (milo dinosaur) wasn't really good but in general, it wasn't a bad experience for sure !
Papparich is a massive international chain which serves delicious Malaysian food. The menu is a big book of Malaysian food and drinks, which includes pictures and makes it that much harder to choose because they all look so good. My favourite is the Nasi Lemak (chicken curry, as pictured) but you can't go wrong with what you choose as the food served here is of a high quality for a big chain. The restaurant is a bit different in that you have to write down your order yourself on a pad (for example Nasi Lemak is R05) and press a button to call the waitress to submit it. The drinks are interesting too - my favourite is the Lychee soda.
I like to go here as a memory booster for the amazing food that I used to have while I lived in Singapore. I wish you could book a table as the restaurant does get busy. But overall I love the way you order, the taste of the food and the friendly service.
Good meal especially if you miss Malaysian food. Great selection and very tasty. Down side was my meal came before everyone else's and I had finished before they were served so had to watch them eat..if I could have fitted in more, I would have ordered something else!
Basically the only proper restaurant we can find on a Sunday morning before 11am. Nothing in Rundle Mall and not much restaurants open in Chinatown. Don't people eat out in Adelaide in the morning??? In CBD??? Tourists???
Anyway, we managed to find PappaRich is open so we walked in. Pleased with their roti, well made. Curry chicken was very juicy and tender.
I first ate at a papa rich chain in Malaysia and there store here is not as authentic and the flavours are not the same. The food was easy to order and nice but the serving size was a bit small and the flavour was just not there, had to add chillies and salt to it for taste! Drinks are nice
I haven't came here since their grand opening so it's been awhile. But I thought of this place the other week and decided to grab some lunch here. The meal I ordered (forgot what it's called) is really good value for money and was quite authentic. I also ordered a Matcha red bean drink which is the best as always. Would love to try their curries next time. Give this place a go if you're looking for some authentic Malaysian cuisine. Their roti's are also really good! šš¼
The food absolutely reminds me of home. Service is always fast and friendly. I always finish the meal feeling satisfied. It is certainly not fine dining and don't expect western restaurant type of service. It is authentic Malaysian and Asian style service. Think of a air conditioned hawker style service and you will not be disappointed.
I love Malaysian food but it can be hard to find in Adelaide. Roti is one of my favourite food discoveries travelling in SE Asia so I was happy to find a place that make Roti from scratch the traditional way. The Roti are very tasty, buttery, flaky and crisp, highly recommend. The rendang I had was tasty but a little over salted and a small portion, my sister had a delicious clear broth noodle soup. Service was a bit abrupt, but efficient. I will be coming back soon.
With all the hype and buzz around the opening of this famous Malaysian food franchise in Adelaide, I wasn't rushing to pop-by and did not have high expectations of this place due to a previous not-so-positive experience at a Sydney outlet. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I have been back numerous times since. The roti whether it's the plain roti or the roti telur bawang (roti with egg and onions) are always freshly prepared and cooked. The curries and sambal are authentic and delicious. Other favourites that we have had here are the nasi lemak selection, kuay teow soup, fried kuay teow and the fish head noodle soup. Their menu is extensive and almost identical to the ones found in Malaysia and customers are spoilt with choices of favourite Msian drinks. Staff are friendly and helpful and service is fast and efficient. Will highly recommend this place to everyone.
Tried Papparich for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Love the service and the way you write down what you want then ring a bell to submit your order. I'm a massive fan of Asian beverages so we ordered the Badung and milk tea & coffee combo. They were awesome but a tad on the too sweet side. To eat we ordered the mixed satays, beef rendang roti, chicken curry roti, and red chicken prawn dish. Thoroughly enjoyed the roti dishes but we ordered too much food and couldn't finish it all! Will definitely be back soon. Thumb up
A beacon of Malaysian food in Adelaide
Papparich has struck it rich with its successful formulaic approach in articulating exceedingly fine and authentic Malaysian cuisine coupled with attentive service. It is a staple for those who have grown up with and love Malaysian food. Don't miss it!
Visited the Adelaide branch of the Paparich empire. Inside it is nice clean with aircon. Not sure who uses the free wifi but it is offered as well.
My Wat Tan Hor (Stir fried rice flat noodles with egg gravy) was tasty and filling and my Teh C Special (Tea, condense milk and palm sugar) was refreshing but sweeter then I like it, but hey it is meant to be a sweet drink!
Overall the service was quick and efficient and it was a decent lunch feed!
After a long drive from Melbourne we were pleasantly surprised to see the familiar PappaRich sign in Gouger Street. Ā The roti, curries, and noodle dishes were all enjoyable and similar to the better PappaRich outlets in Melbourne.
Great threat for satisfying Malaysian food cravings. Favourites include the chicken rice and briyani. The pan mee wasn't as authentic as I hoped.
Love it. The BEST roti in Adelaide. I love the take home packs of coffee. You won't be disappointed. The service is fast and I like the ordering system as you have full control.
My family has been a little obsessed with Papparich lately. I think it must be the extensive and affordable menu as well as the efficient service, which is what my parents tend to look for in a restaurant for a larger group. It's been a restaurant we fall back on whenever none of us can decide on what to eat. Despite the long lines, we've never had to wait too long for a table. Here's a taste of what we've ordered on two of our past visits, which has caused us to leave absolutely stuffed to the brim!
I actually love this place! I've been 4 times and can't move passed the Chilli Pan Mee and the banana roti. The service system is a bit of fun but also very efficient. Could only be better if they served alcohol
Another Friday night brings us to Chinatown. We hadnāt been to PappaRich in quite some time so we thought we would head in again. Ā We were eating early so we were able to be seated straight away. Ā This Malaysian chain does attract a crowd however you are usually seated quite quickly so donāt be scared off by a line when there is one.
First up you canāt go to PappaRich without getting the Roti. We like to go basic and order the Roti Canai. It comes with three different accompaniments which you can happily dip your roti in. The roti had a nice crisp on the outside and was so soft to pull apart.
A meet up with friends turned into a feast of kings. I think we actully ran out of space on the table and had to elevate dishes. It is close to what you get back in Malaysia but still not enough to keep you traveling back on a food pilgrimage. The beef rendang is nice but a small portion for the price. Roti is good and I loved the crispy seafood noodles! The satay is nice but a tad expensive. Assam laksa is also a good dish. They have many interesting drinks so take your time to pick. The Hot Teh Tarik drink though is quite small so if you want a larger drink go for the cold. The staff are a little forgetful so bring your patience.
Average Good Malaysian cuisine at Adelaide. Not one of the best but good enough to solve some cravings problem. The customer service has been up and down. Has been couple of times where staffs are very friendly and good but also has been once where staffs are just rude and arrogant (serve wrong dishes but yet argue that customer order - when show the bill on what we order then they realise but did not apologise). If services continue to be bad, not going to come back again or recommend. Has a good drinks list. Some of them quite authentic Malaysian drinks. Food wise not bad at all. Nasi lemak flavour well balance - might comment on the rice, sometimes the rice can be overcook and look mushy. The roti and curry is very tasty. Spicy level for curry serve here in general is quite mild so should be all good for those who prefers less chilli. Chicken served whether in curry/fried/ steam has been moist and tender. The only dish not recommended is wet Hor fun, combo flavour is very wrong. Texture of noodles with sauce is not right too. Couple of must try dishes : Nasi lemak, Ipoh Hor fun, Hainan chicken rice, satay, roti and curry and teh Tarik. Those are some of The authentic Malaysian dishes.
PappaRich is all about serving delicious Malaysian food. Ā The name PappaRich hails from a book āRich Dad Poor Dadā by Robert Kiyosaki about a highly educated man ending up fiscally poor (Robertās father), and another (Robertās best friendās father) ā a high school dropout who became a self-made multimillionaire.
I took my family here for a spur of the moment early dinner on a Thursday night. We got a nice table with no fuss. The waitress that welcomed us was well spoken and friendly. She clearly explained the ordering process and we were good to go. After drooling over the photos in the glossy menu and then trying to narrow down what we wanted to order we pushed the little green button and within ten seconds the smiling waitress was there to take our order. The food arrived quickly after ordering and we all had our 'wow' moments as the delicious platters of food was placed in front of us. I had the Nasi Lemak which was as good as any I have had in Adelaide. I would rate it almost on par with Nanyang's which for me is the benchmark. The kids loved this place. I mean they really loved it - already asking "when can we come again?" as we were finishing up our meal. For me, Papparich is a winner and somewhere I will happily return to spend my hard earned. Yes, there are other more authentic (and slightly cheaper) Malaysian restaurants in our fine city but Papparich has its place in our dining landscape. If the Malaysian restaurants with nonchalant service and dirty cutlery and tables are more your thing, look elsewhere and you will find them without too much effort. However, Papparich with its clean and bright fit out, professional friendly staff and authentic food coming out of the kitchen is filling a niche that Adelaide was missing.
After reading the reviews I was a bit cautious about trying Papparich however, I was pleased to have a good experience. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and shown to a table where the ordering process was explained and I was left to peruse the large menu at my leisure. I filled out the order slip and pressed the button and within seconds staff were there to take my slip. My drink arrived moments later and the food not long after. It was presented as described in the menu. I was happy with my meal - it was tasty and the steamed chicken that came with it was tender and really juicy.
Interesting sort of place.
We've been past a number of times and even tried to get in a few times, but there always seems to be a queue 10 deep - they even have the nightclub rope up on the footpath. Is this the Krispy Kreme of restaurants?
Still, 2.30 on a Sunday seemed to be a pretty good time to get in and we were seated within a few minutes.
THis is, let's face it, one of a chain of Papparich restaurants with seven of them in Victoria alone. So perhaps it's more the Cafe Primo of Malaysian Restaurants.
There's a huge menu which includes things you probably won't see anywhere else. The drinks menu is equally huge and incudes a wide variety of what I assume are Malaysian favourites. Everything we had was pretty tasty. Service was prompt and efficient in the same way that service at Subway is.
Not exactly cheap, but you'll probably go away happy.
But just because you go here, don't hesitate to enter "Malaysian" in the search box above and see what else is on offer in town. Because there's nothing much wrong with Papparich, but there might just be better around.
Adelaide, Adelaide CBD, Adelaide Chinatown, Asian cuisine, Chinese, Event, Indian, Malaysian, Yum Cha. PappaRich, Adelaide. by deeĀ ā¢Ā May 1, 2015Ā ā¢Ā 0 Comments. So did ya hear that PappaRich has opened up shop in lil olā Radelaide?! Yipee!!. Havenāt heard of it? Itās a popular Malaysian eatery that first started in Kuala Lumpur in 2005, fast forward 10 years and it has grown to a whopping number of 70 outlets throughout Malaysia and internationally; with a total of 8 in Australia and most recently, the very first one in Adelaide on Gouger Street in the Chinatown precinct. Surprisingly, when we were in KL last year, we didnāt stop into one to sample their food neither have we tried to visit any of the outlets in the eastern states, but hey, now we donāt have to!
Great dinner!. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about this place. I ate at Papparich in Malyasia and the Adelaide version is fine and very delicious. I had the Roti and Nasi Lemak with prawn Sambal and I was so full and had to take half my meal to go.
Large serving, cheap menu and yummy. The wait was only about 2 min as I was just dining with a friend, if you don't want to wait I advise arriving at 5:30 -6pm and you'll walk right in.
Mmmm roti. Me and my Malaysian co-diner were happy all round with Papparich. We arrived around 11.30 am and waited only a few minutes before being ushered to our tables. Our waiter then gave us our menus and explained how the ordering system worked. Everything in the menu looked great and when it arrived, looked and tasted equally good. Prices are pretty fair in my opinion. For those complaining that this place is expensive, can you please put in your reviews where there is a cheaper Malaysian restaurant in Adelaide with equivalent or better food and setting? In the meanwhile, look forward to returning.
Delicious!. We had chicken satays, roti canai, roti telur, wantan hor and chicken rice. All of them were very well executed and delicious. Of course they were pricey considering how cheap they would have cost in Malaysia - but this is Australia, so... Anyway, if you love Malaysian food or would love to sample things out, we'd recommend giving this place a go!
Staff are very friendly and efficient, very busy and only waited 5 mins for a table and 10 minutes for food. Drinks are a little expensive but servings are big. Lots of vegetarian options!
Enjoyed our meal. Will go back. Only problem is having to queue for a long time. Wish they had larger eating space to fit more tables.
Awesome food. Finally opened! I tried Paparich in Sydney and Melbourne, they are all very nice.
Lots of choices and drinks are my favourite.
I definitely will return to try more food! Love it!
Great addition to Adelaide!. One of the more well-known franchises in Malaysia, I was happy to see it's arrived in Adelaide! We had nasi lemak with fried chicken, kuay teow soup, Teh tarik, white coffee and a matcha rocks.
Nasi lemak was fantastic, and so was the white coffee. Kuay teow soup was like Malaysia's - which isn't something I'd order twice, but was hoping these guys could improve on it. Teh Tarik was sickly sweet, but the lovely waitress suggested we write in the notepad to reduce the sugar content. Matcha rocks did not taste of any matcha whatsoever...I'm not sure I would order this again either. I'm going to keep an open mind and try the rest of their menu items though, and happy you guys are finally open! ;)
Hands down to the best Malaysian in Adelaide. Better than Melbourne branch. Will frequent this place, don't mind the queue.
... Iām still always looking for a good place in our home town to eat Malaysian food. PappaRich is a commercial Malaysian restaurant chain. Established in 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, itās grown to 70 outlets in Malaysia and internationally. PappaRich restaurants have been established in Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Western Australia for some time, and now we finally have one in my home state of South Australia.
I could not be more excited about PappaRich Ā opening up in Adelaide, I have been counting down the days and watching the empty shop on Gouger Street slowly transform. Established in Kuala Lumpur in 2005, the year I left Malaysia, this franchise has expanded rapidly both locally in Malaysia and internationally. Here in Australia they have over 15 restaurants. We were fortunate enough to be invited to dine with Poh Ling Yeow,Ā the ambassador for PappaRich Australia, at their official opening of the Gouger Street restaurant.Ā I've never had the chance to try PappaRich in Malaysia because back home, there's so much more competition plus there's never enough time to tick everything off the list. All the little 'warungs', mamak stalls and hawkers that specialize and refine their signature dishes. It is not a joke when I say the meal plan has no home cooking involved, three types of food for three meals a day everyday, then tropical fruits and street snacks will just have to somehow fit in between.Ā One of the things Malaysians miss most about home is Malaysian food. It is such a vast category that brings so many cultures and heritage together.Ā PappaRich has an extensive menu that covers all the popular Malaysian favourites, a one stop shop here in Adelaide so this is very nostalgic and exciting for both myself and Mr. Foodie. There was definitely a great turn out, people were lining up waiting for a table, the restaurant was packed! Needless to say there were plenty of Malaysians there. Clockwise from top left: Balloons for the launch, Pappa Cham with Coffee Jelly, Matcha Rocks, Barley with Grass Jelly Us and a other fellow bloggers had the opportunity to have lunch with Poh. We were so lucky to nab a seat directly across from Poh and had a fab time. She is definitely lovely, funny and cheerful all round. The menu had been pre-selected for us by Poh to sample the best favourites but before we get to the food, let's talk drinks. The drinks menu is just as extensive, I loo
