If you are carving for a good katsu curry and chain fried rice. This is the place to be! Not to heavy on the pocket, quick service and some really tasty food! Highlight is the salt and pepper octopus with their aioli! Complete snack!
After a long day of work we decided to get some ramen. For us, noodles are best comfort food you can get, and being old customers of Ajisen, we could think of no place better.
We ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and Paiku Ramen, being lovers of pork. As always, we enjoyed the meal. The flavours are simple but bold.
There’s not much that needs to be said about Ajisen Ramen. It’s a simple bowl of hot noodles to pick you up whenever you need it.
Simple but tasty Ramen especially if you want a cheap eat! My favourite is the volcano and spicy miso Ramen. Their spicy fried rice isn't too shabby either
If you want a quick, generous bowl of ramen and some sides with no fuss then Ajisen Ramen is for you. The gyozas are decent and I like the beef and enoki mushroom bundles which were nice too.
I tried the lunch set which comes with a cup of hot green tea and options of appetizers ( I chose seaweed salad which came with generous size). The ajisen ramen was tasty, the noodle was just with the right texture and right portion, 2 slices of chasu and half boiled egg. The broth was well balanced and not too fatty. I arrived after 12.30 , the place was busy but there were seats available. By the way if a takeaway container is requested, it comes with 50-cents charge.
Pretty good authentic ramen which is easily accessed when in the city. Also got a side of dumplings which were nice when dipped in the sauce or ramen, otherwise a bit sticky and dry but otherwise no complaints
Love the Ajisen Ramen and tonkatsu ramen.

The service is very quick and i am always full after dining here.
The ramen was good but not amazing, I liked their takoyaki sides. Also tried the chicken yakitori but that was quite dry. The atmosphere here is very welcoming and the staff were nice too.
When looking at the menu and you see 3 volcanos next to it, it is damn spicy! If you love spicy ramen, the volcano ramen will burn your tastebuds off, but thats just the way I like it! The infusion of spice and broth provides an unique taste the blends with the noodles of the ramen. With prices ranging from $9 to $13, Ajisen is a great place for a lunch meal. Will definitely be back again.
Hail to Volcano Ramen!! always my favorite every time I go there! their bento are yummy as well. They have many options if I compare than the other branch at Regent Arcade. the only problem for me is they can not do split bills,it is hard for us if we come with group. So far so good and will come back for sure :)
The Spicy Meat Ramen was ok. I enjoyed the flavour but there was only a small heap of minced meat in the large bowl of liquid and noodles. The entree dumplings were really nice and I liked the way they steamed them and fried them slightly to give more texture and colour. I could have easily had these as a main. I'd probably try something different next time as the aromas and look of dishes on the next table were more appealing.
Not a fan of the low benches or stools on one side of the tables and it was a bit off-putting to see the dirty dishes piled up behind the counter and a clear view of the kitchen when we went up to pay.
Overall, really well priced food for a place on Leigh Street.
I love the ramen here, the Gyoza ramen is my absolute favourite. Always manages to pick me up. They also do takeaway! The only problem with this place is the service, I have never had a particularly competent waiter. However despite the service I will keep coming back for that ramen.

Ajisen Ramen is a Japanese noodle cafe that delights with its playfulness, quick friendly service and affordable tasty cuisine. Ajisen Ramen is part of a group of restaurants originating from Japan and operating since 1968 and more recently in Regent Arcade Adelaide. Get out the large menu with compelling pictures, but you are drawn to their specialty of ramen. And we've found the quality to be consistent. This is great "comfort" food in winter and even summer (refreshing). Ajisen Ramen specialises in ramen in tonkotsu soup which is pork bone soup. This broth features in all the ramen and is the basis for excellent ramen flavours. They claim the soup has lots of collagen which is good for health and prevents aging. Their noodles are high quality made from wheat flour and cooked to al dente. Ajisen Ramen also offer a secret brown sauce they serve with the ramen, that is tasty and delicious. We dig the mushroom (fungi), bean srouts and spring onions also added to the ramen for a complete dish. Ramen is the main game here so I went with the ramen in a lunch deal with the Tori Karaage chicken. The chicken came as a large portion of deep fried chicken and with a great Japanese mayo. For mine this was a sensation with perfectly fried chicken but not too oily. With the mayo it was a killer combination. I could have just settled with a bowl of this for lunch. The Chargrilled beef ramen was superb with tasty char grill flavours of the beef and the right amount of fatiness in the ramen. Served with egg and aforementioned vegetables its delectable. You could see the char sear marks on the meat which was impressive. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere with funky stools. Condiments on the table. Trademark modern art and photos on the wall. The extras with the ramen were great value, for those feeling hungry. Also impressive here is the fast and friendly service.
Paiku Ramen & Spicy Ramen. Today feel like to have a bowl of noodles, well but there was not many great places in Adelaide to have good Japanese ramen. We came to the Leigh street branch this time, a list of ramen on the menu for us to choose. We like pork base soup noodle more than miso base. We then ordered Paiku ramen (Ramen with tasty ribs, egg and vegetable) and Spicy ramen (Ramen with spicy meat, egg, vegetable). The Paiku ramen was good, full of ribs flavour. However the spicy ramen was just too spicy, I could only taste spicy nothing else.
Solid tasty Ramen at a good price in a tight atmosphere. Served fast. Nicely done.
Super quick service, cheap meal and soooo generous with serving size!! The soup wasnt too overpowering just right!!
Delicious :). I love Ramen. I fell in love with it when I boarded over in Japan in High School. Cheap, Easy, Tasty = Awesome.
Ajisen Ramen is the closest thing I've found in Adelaide to Ramen like it is in Japan. I looooooooove the Tofu Ramen!! Karaage Chicken is a bit too fatty for me, but the Yakitori skewers are a delicious entree choice (quite lean).
If you're Vego, ask for the Vegetable Soup Base. They dont advertise it on the menu, but it is an option :) (YAY!)
They do take a while to get the food out in peak times so I like to go after 2pm when the crowds have died down.
PAIKU. RAMEN. YUM.. Paiku ramen best describes this place!

Cheap, quick, delicious.. Tonkatsu is the dish I usually stick with, and I think from memory it's less than $10 for (just about) a bucket of vegetables, broth, noodles and meat.
Very delicious, very quick, staff are a little distant but I can't decide if that's because of the language barrier or the fact that they are so busy all the time that the hours just melt into one long tired hour.
I have sympathy for them, but it's limited.
Overall the food is all that matters, and this place delivers in spades.
Consistently good, consistently full.
Cheap food tastes good but te soba noodles looked and tasted like italian spaghetti! A little unusual... Cost cutting??
Yum!. Have been here countless times and everytime the food is super tasty!! the Corn ramen is my personal fave and my vego friend finds them really accomodating in terms of changing the tofu ramen to a veggie based broth. Happy times! :D

Great value, good food for a reasonably cheap price. The food here isn't iron chef Japan standards, and people need to stop expecting that kind of cuisine when you're paying 11.50 for a meal. I personally think the food here is great for the price. Try the beef bento box, or the spicy ramen. I go here almost once a day, it's a fantastic place to have lunch or dinner if you work in the city!
Timing is crutial!. If you go to the leigh street one at 12.15 it will take a long time to get your food...you need to go before then or after 1 pm. the tofu ramen noodles are so good and well priced for their deliciousness...
Good value and decent food. The ramen here is probably not the most authentic you can find, but offers good variety and is reasonably priced. We have been numerous times and while the service is average, the food is good enough for a weeknight when you don't feel like cooking
Plenty of good vegetarian options; unfortunately the ramen broth is pork based. Great food and good, unobtrusive service.

Everything considered, I might come back here once in a while, but I'll have to choose what I eat here as it came close to 20 bucks just for a serving of dumplings and a bowl of noodle...
Tori karaage was always a favourite of ours and never fails to make the cut when it comes to ordering so here it is again. It was delicious, fresh and the chicken was still juicy! The ramen soup here packs quite the flavour, I actually enjoy it enough. There really aren't many decent ramen places in Adelaide and with this place, for what it's worth, I'm satisfied with my meal.
