We popped in here for a wee lunch and it was quite nice. I was craving a burger and the fact that there was a smoking Webber out the front was great advertising for us to try the Brisket Burger. Glad we did too, coz it was deelish. Only downfall was it lacked the blue cheese sauce taste, was more like liquid cheese, but still tasty.
The place is quite old school in decor and service is nice enough, but wine selection is good and the view is lovely on a clear day. The outside downstairs area is very pretty and would be nice to eat there, though I think it's a smoking area now. Had the entertainment book which delivers well as usual hehe. đź‘Ť
Had an absolutely fantastic meal at The Scenic Hotel this afternoon. Ravioli with goats cheese, prosciutto and rocket - absolutely spectacular. Friendly service, great wines and a wonderful spot to relax and take in the scenery. Will be back again in the near future.
Kangaroo Le Cordon Bleu. If you enjoy dining upon a superbly cooked and presented kangaroo steak, you should treat yourself to the exquisite experience provided by the Scenic Hotel at Norton Summit. Their chef has PERFECTED the art of cooking kangaroo. When ordering, don't ask for rare or medium or well cooked. Ask for the chef's recommendation and you will encounter a steak that melts away in your mouth. The meal will arrive on a bed of crisp potato straws and beautifully cooked onion rings. I recommend ordering their steamed vegetables that ideally complements the kangaroo. Don't order an entree or desert - the serving is large and you won't be able to do justice to any other course. We ordered the Cab Shiraz Merlot blend from Penny's Hill (McLaren Vale) which was heavenly with the divine kangaroo steak. A great meal can often be spoiled by setting or service - NOT at the Scenic. We sat out on their balcony with enchanting views of the Adelaide Plains and were looked after by staff that must have graduated with Honours from Charm School. If you are seeking a romantic, enchanting night out - this is definitely the place to go.
Jillian (PS - Did you know that kangaroo is rich in iron and high in protein and has zero cholesterol?)
Imagine reading a novel about a couple escaping the urban jungle for bendy country roads in the hills, driving slowly and enjoying life. They start feeling hungry and as they do they stumble across an idyllic hotel with scenic views and a decent wine list. They relax, they order, they enjoy. Now, be part of your own story at the Scenic Hotel.
A Nice City Escape. We dined on a Saturday night, and it looked looked like a full house. We decided on a Duck Pie and Black Bean Polenta (One of several vegetarian choices & gluten free) which were both great and arrived in good time. An interesting selection of wine both glass and bottle. (tried an Adelaide Hills Black Bishop Sauvignon Blanc followed with the same in a Barossa Shiraz, both very enjoyable). She who must be obeyed loved the home-made cherry pie with vanilla creme anglaise. Service was friendly without being pushy, overall a very nice evening.
Great food and service!. I took my girlfriend here for lunch and we both really enjoyed our meals! So did the 3 or so European wasps hovering over our plates the entire time, but can't blame anyone for that! The servings were ample and good quality homestyle cooking! We usually just take prompt and friendly service for granted but found the waitress here to go the extra mile and was extremely friendly! One negative is that the interior and decor are well over due for an upgrade.
Nice Lunch. We had a nice and relaxing lunch there on Sunday. Nice little view from the balcony and we enjoyed the food and service.
The new menu: Roast Chicken was quite tasty and came with piled baked potato was great dish! And my partner ate something like a deep friend cous cous? with beans & mushroom. Both tasted very nice and the staff was very friendly. We will go back there again!
Friendly and relaxing. Great setting just up the road from the city. Feels like a different world up there.
Had open porterhouse sandwich followed by homemade sticky date pudding. can happily recommend both. also brew boys maiden ale on tap! never seen that anywhere else before.
cheers
Gorgeous view. Lovely family lunch on Saturday. Food - great honest well executed pub food. View is beautiful - try to get a table on balcony or at least near the window. Like an old English pub - worth the drive. Service a tad slow at first but improved as lunch went on.
Good old fashioned hospitality!. I took my wife and in-laws for a 'sunday drive' up through the hills last weekend, mid afternoon we came across 'The Scenic'. The place was chock-a-block full and when we asked for a table, none were available (a good sign in my book!). a seat at the bar was offered, and the first free table promised.
We were seated at our freshly set table within 10 minutes (after enjoying a lovely glass of pinot from the hills themed, and lengthy by the glass selections).
A dip platter to begin with, three house made wonders - the rocket & cashew was my favorite - served with warm toasted bread. 4 different mains, all were delicious! and a couple of 'the mother in-laws' sticky-date puddings to finish of (we were so full we decided to share dessert!). To die for.
The waitresses were perfect, attentive, but not imposing, the open fire kept the room just cozy without going overboard & and the food was more than memorable.
We will most certainly be back. Looking forward to a spring afternoon on the balcony in fact!
Lovely venue for our group today, plenty of interesting options on the menu-photos attached, a delicious fish burger, side orders and desserts. Staff are very welcoming, friendly and polite, quality focus on service all round. Lovely drive into the hills with a Beautiful views too from the dining rooms and balcony. I would recommend a visit.
The location and view at sunset and dusk is magical. The double cheeseburger tasted great. The venue itself was good but a bit of an in-between of a casual pub and fine dining outfit.
This gem of a place brought vibes and views. Had a lovely dinner on the balcony with a few work colleagues and couldn’t have asked for a better place to enjoy a few Gins and pasta. Definitely recommend!

Great spot, overlooking Adelaide. Food amazing and good value. Service was so friendly. Reccomended highly.
Love love love this place. Our first visit here and it won’t be the last. The scenery, the food, the staff, the venue… Tick tick tick tick. Absolutely banging food, those anchovy soldiers are mind blowing, perfect juicy chicken, delicious lamb and tasty carrots.
The staff were great, knowledgeable and friendly.
With a fireplace inside, fire pits outside, it’s a beautiful setting. Sitting outside under the trees with the fire going, a nice wine and some live music and views right down to the city what more could you want?? 10/10
Beautiful little spot nestled in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Great views, amazing food, and staff to match. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later..!
The menu is a little basic and weird but at least becomes a talking point with the very friendly and informative waitresses and waiters.
Food arrived on time and was delicious. Most of us went for the eggplant.
The background music was modern, cheerful , loud enough to dance to and definitely not overwhelming.
The atmosphere and fellow diners were jovial too.
Surroundings were old country and comfortable. Our table was massive of dark polished wood close to a warm open fire.
It was a good night.
I'd recommend it to anyone.
