Review The Lady Daly Hotel - Adelaide

We are luckily within walking distance of The Lady Daly and it has a really interesting history if you Google it. Great pub with a nice atmosphere. There's a beer garden too. Great for just a drink or their pub meals are good value. Staff are always lovely. A good Port Road option.

The steak was cold, not prepared as requested. It was not fresh, for a lover of steak I know and not worth the price. I was over charged for our three meals and didn't notice until we left and checked our account definitely not going back.

OMG this is the nicest place. And you can bring your dog! They have even sell snacks for your dog. The staff are SO friendly. Quality beers and wines (not a huge selection but a very high quality section). The food is great too. Not a huge menu, but it is all so yummy. The vegan karrage "chicken" is to die for.

The decor is very different to other pubs, it gives a very homely cosy feel. Went for dinner and I ordered the chef's special... slow roasted pulled lamb with hummus and pita..OMG it was delicious with a little bit of spicy heat..the general menu isn't large but there is something for every eating preference with reasonable prices. Great experience

Best place to hang out and pat a pup. Staff are absolutely awesome and friendly. Amazing schnitzels. Great place for dinner before gigs at The Gov or Ent Cent

Great place, close to the Entertainment Centre. Menü is a bit limited. My tacos was a bit strange...but after 2 of this beautiful beer 🍻 everything was easy like a Sunday morning.

Love this pub! Very eclectic and friendly. Small menu, which I prefer. Able to spend time over our meal and chat without being rushed.

Had the Hight Tea, exceptional service, catered for allergies, food was superb if anyone asks for a recommendation I will send the to the Lady no hesitation. Oh and love the cat tea pot 😻

Never been in the pub before, booked a table for an early dinner on the way to a city event. really impressed with entire pub.  love love love the decoration and serving plates and cups, recycled and real china. the food was tasty and delicious and HOT, hubby scraped his plate clean with a chicken schnitzel, nearly taking off the pattern on the plate LOL huge serves and my squid was mouth watering.really felt at home there and relaxed.ultra friendly service and everyone seems to smile, the music selection was great too.;this was the first visit but definitely not my last, great parking, great location and thumbs up to the kitchen guys and front staff could not fault this place and I must add, I am a really fussy person with food. The Lady Daly Hotel is a fabulous quaint and stylish pub with the best service ever in a pub and tasty hot food.&I highly recommend this pub and shall be 'hanging out&here regularly.so pleased we tried the Lady Daly Hotel; ps Hubby wants to return too to scrape clean another dinner perhaps. cheers to the venue and staff!

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere - even when it's not particularly busy. Being within walking distance from my house, and on the way home from work, it can be too easy to say "lets not cook" and stop in for schnitty. Decent pub food,
Dieter
Food : $12 Lunch specials , Zucchini Fritter and Fish and Chips. Both freshly cooked, tasted fine and portion size was ok for a lunchtime variety. <br/>Service: Just the one lady in the bar, but she's on top of everything. Meals ordered at counter, no need to split the bill. <br/>Ambience: tunes turned up, natural light at front, open area. Nice enough, nothing special. No pokies as far as I can tell :-)<br/>Overall: good for lunch, very pleasant.

This is one of the best High Tea experiences I have had in Adelaide. Really reasonably priced, great food and beverage choices and good service. I have been here for High Tea twice now - one inside the pub for a group of 8 and one outside on the awesome function area for a Hens Day for a group of 30 and both were done well. Highly recommended!

We went here as a family for the half price vegetarian and vegan menu on a Thursday and we were not disappointed. The starters were really lovely...not mind blowing but very good for pub food, especially as a vegan. The mushroom burgers we had for our main course were among the best I have ever had; seriously impressive. The vegan cheesecake was a little dry and dense but the brownie was delicious. All in all a great family night out and a real find for vegan foodies who love a beer with dinner in a relaxed pub atmosphere.

Went here for dinner before a show at the Entertainment Centre and it was very busy, luckily we had booked a table. Lots of vegan options on the menu, I had the cauliflower which was nice but not mind blowing. Service was friendly apart from one of the waitresses.

Pretty good. The review would have been excellent had my chips not been cold, stale and chewy. When I informed the waitress she told me that I should have said something.... I thought that saying something counted as saying something. :/ I wasn't even offered a replacement - everyone else's chips were perfect. That aside, the black veggie burger was really tasty and interesting - I was pleasantly surprised.

Wow!!! These guys are working so hard to make this pub a success. They are doing a great job !!!!! Well worth a visit for food, service & general vibe. Awesome beer garden. Great place for veggoes. Live music as well. Prices reasonable. I recommend it. :-)))

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - Extremely disappointed with both the quality of the food and the time it took to be served. My salt and pepper calamari was cold and lacked flavour, the accompanying salad was dry with absolutely no dressing and the chips were over-cooked. My partner's vegie burger was bland and the accompanying chips also over-cooked. Furthermore, what hotel does not serve 'Sparkling Shiraz'??!! Impossible also to sit out in the courtyard because of other patrons smoking...this is an absolute no-no!! I suggest you think twice before frequenting this hotel.

Lady Daly Hotel sits on Port Rd, close to the Entertainment Centre and Coopers Stadium, making it a mecca for pre-gig/game celebrations. It also serves up an intruiging seasonal menu that features lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Plus it plays 90’s Aussie rock anthems at lunch times. Ace.

Lunch Special. Had the lunch special yesterday The Lady Daly.. Got the beef burger with chips and salad for $12 . Service was prompt and polite. The meal albeit very tasty wasn't huge but the quality was there which was great... I would order again. <br/><br/>Cheers

Such a bad service. Really bad service at the function. the Attitude towards customers/to me was shocking with "Don't argue with me. It's your problem". Don't recommend at all

Absolutely fantastic from the minute we walked through the door. Food delightful. Service brilliant.Atmosphere wonderful. Want to be spoilt, treated like a VIP? Book yourself and at least 3 others in for a High Tea.

Disappointing Service. I found the staff really condescending and rude when asking for a table on a busy night. The Pub manages to pull a lot of customers because of its proximity to the Entertainment Centre, however this is no excuse for bad service.
Katarina
Awful!!! . Really disappointed . Filled zucchini was just a small zucchini cut in half with what tasted like cheap tomato paste and melted cheese . Served on top of a mountain of chips! And a really small salad. The zucchini was only half cooked. RIP OFF prices.
Andrew Bishop
Nice food. Atlantic salmon was cooked well and chips and salad were good. Good atmosphere and was quiet for lunch in the spacious front bar.

Ordered beef schnitzel, chips not crispy enough, taste awful. Dont like it and wont come back

Had been here once before for great food, but tonight was a disappointment. The two salads my friends got seemed to go down well, but the salt and pepper chicken was horrible! Was more like fish batter and extremely greasey! That said, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the place looks great. A little fine tuning on the food, and it would be great :-)
Crab Cakes
Service and food is great; however, my favourite menu item - the ribs - have gone down a little in quality. Still, much better than most of these reviews suggest.

Nice looking venue... but quite frankly just over priced...bar fair. Service lacks lustre. Great for drinks tho if in a group.

This place was terrible and I definitely wouldn't recommend. We bought a cudo voucher for a burger and drink, and didnt think it could be as bad as it was. The patty was as if it were frozen from a packet, didnt even want to eat it. Bacon was fatty and the overall meal was incredibly disappointing. To say the meal was dismal would be an understatement. We definitely won't be returning.
Leeroy
Only 1 word could describe this place, HIDEOUS!! The food was disgusting, the staff were rude and we will never return..

Poor Effort. 7.30 booking told pub had No Steaks! What "pub" runs out of Steaks! No effort from staff to keep their customers as if they didn't care, no big deal to them. Sorry Lady Daily poor effort. Especially for the price they charge. It was off to the Gov!

Unhappy customer. This would have to be the worst food in Adelaide,we were the only people in there for dinner ( should have known that tells you something) shnitzels were burnt black and dry when they finally came out after 40 mins, took a bite couldnt cut through, or eat. husband had fish chips, $23.00 1 little peice of fish chips .drinks warm. Had to go elsewhere to eat as hungry. they discounted bill, shouldnt have charged us at all, but even waitress said she wouldnt eat it , looked so bad . Get another chef! never go back

Pleasant Evening Meal. This hotel has been done up quite nicely and has a nice Victorian feel to the décor. The meal was pleasant, with a good selection on the menu and the six people in our party enjoyed their meals. The pub type meals were reasonably priced and sized: the house specials/signature plates cost more and probably were about $5 overpriced. The side dish of vegies was very, very small and expensive. The service was good staff friendly, the venue was quiet for a week night but we definitely couldn't fault the food or service.

Food tasted great, but was way over-priced for very small portion size. Ordered a chicken salad for lunch $18.90 which was puny.

Not So Special. My fellow dinner and I wanted to try somewhere new so we thought we would give the Lady Daly a shot at impressing us. Are experience went like this. We entered the bistro area unsure if we should take a seat or wait to be seated. There was a log line of people waiting to order food and no other staff available to help. While my fellow dinner waited patiently to ask I had a chance to do a houdni and wonder around the place. I returned to discover no assistance had been offered so we made ourselves at home on uneven seats. My fellow diner appeared to be sitting in a child-like high chair. We were then offered the ‘special event menu’ which was somewhat limited. There was nothing special happening at the pub, I can only assume the special-ness was coming from the entertainment centre. <br/><br/>Onto the meals, my fellow dinner had the fish and chips, tiny pieces of fish were battered the crap of to make them appear lager. My $29 steak was not $29 worth, although cooked properly the cut of meat was more like a cheap cut you would expect from a supermarket, fat and all. I have cooked better quality cuts at home for $8. I scoped out what other diners were eating....All in all the special event menu seemed to consist of lots of fried food and cheap cuts of meat. My conclusion the Lady Daly is in it for the money. They are taking advantage of the hungry ticket holding patrons by serving meals that do not reflect the cost and running on skeleton staff who can not serve patrons in a timely fashion.

Crappy, rude service. My partner and I arrived at the Lady Daly around 6.15 looking for a bit to eat before an 8pm show. Were told there were no tables available yet but were encouraged to wait with our names on a list for the next available table. We were the only names on the list. Waited 45 minutes and when went back to the waitress saw that numerous people had been written on the list after us and seated. Were told there was still nothing available!! It was now 7pm and we were now looking like having no opportunity to eat before the show. This could have been a simple misunderstanding, but unfortunately the way we were spoken to when we queried the stuff up has ensured we will never go back! No customer service. Also overheard another couple whose table had been given away as they were "late" - it was 6.50 and their booking was 6.45 and they had been told told to go and get a drink while waiting for their table when they arrived! Pretty disappointing and unnecessary. If they had been honest and said there were no tables when we got there we could have moved on immediately and avoided being rushed. As it turned out we went up the road to Enzo's, got a great table, great service and great pizza. Having seen some other reviews of the food at the Lady Daly it looks like we had a lucky escape!

What a Dive!!. I only wish I read some of these reviews before I booked a high tea at this feral venue. <br/>The staff are lazy, rude and simply don't care. The food is a joke, it's slop!<br/>They clearly have no idea how to look after a group of ladies coming together to celebrate a special occasion, in fact all they did was create conversations about poor customer service. What a waste of our money! I will never be going back , nor will the rest of our group and they are each guaranteed to tell others not to ever bother!

Very disappointing. I organised a high tea months in advance, management promised the world, yet delivered very little. The only tea we received was after one and a half hours of waiting, it was cold, served in miss matched cups and saucers with dessert spoons and not teaspoons. Save yourself the time and money and stay away! I will never return.

2nd chance fail. There is a reason this pub promotes itself to kids, and it's not a compliment. Poor food is an understatement. The burger patties are so over seasoned with dry herbs, my 5 year refused to eat it. The eggplant parmigiana was undercooked and not coated. Service is hit and miss. Stick to your liquid dinners here. Worst part is the prices they dare to charge for their rubbish. I can only guess they count on entertainment centre trade. Avoid at all costs.

Value for Money. Walked in pre concert for the KD Lang concert Sunday night and found this little gem! the place was packed and the staff were abliging enough to find me and the wife a table despite the hustle and bustle. The girl maitre' de was fantastic and ensured we were looked after. I had the Pork ribs and Kerry had the Barra - perfect.<br/>I will be back again, keep up the good work guys and thank for making my night special!

A MUST. Went to The Lady Daly Hotel for High Tea and was pleasantly surprised not only with the beautiful Victorian Era Style interior but the friendly and attentive service from the staff, delicious sparkling and freshly made dessert delicacies provided.<br/>Would highly recommend to people looking for something that little bit different for a Sunday afternoon as well as ladies looking for Baby Shower, Hens Day venues. Free Flowing sparkling, teas and coffees for 2 hours is stress free for event organisers!!

Fantastic. Just read some of the below reviews, but my experience was very different (perhaps a change somwhere in managment?). I took my family to the venue on the 21st of July for the 'Scoopon high tea offer' and it was fabalous. The cake/sandwich trays came out within five minutes, there was bottomless tea/coffee/bubbily and the staff members were VERY friendly and could not do enough for us! :) I'm hoping I can take a realative back to experience the lovely atmosphere.

High Tea Rip off. Very Disappointed in the 'Scoopon High Tea'. Had no food served to us for the first 30 minutes. Given that this is all prepared and sitting out the back there is no excuse for it. We could only get an hour carpark (not their fault) due to Entertainment Centre event. So time enough for one cup of coffee and had to wolf down the tardy food. The imaginary $44 per head value put on this is very misleading. This was a hugely popular offer on scoopon but If you can't do it well don't do it at all, as you will just lose custom.
Puscifer
Crap. Bought a Scoopon for high tea with my mum at the Lady Daly and went to book in on the morning but the staff member responded that they were booked out for the high tea which is served between 2-4pm, which was fine, we still went in to grab a drink and some tapas at around 3pm. We could see maybe four tables doing high tea, there were about five other empty tables. We bought drinks and were informed that we were unable to order tapas because we should have booked in for it. We thought that was ridiculous, since when are you expected to book at a front bar for a plate of tapas?? The bar staff said they would "check with the kitchen," we were then informed that yes they could do us a few plates but we were rushed with ordering, the staff member standing at our table and refusing to leave until we sorted out what we wanted. This was difficult as the tapas isn't actually on the menu, we had to be given the iPad from behind the bar to look at what the tapas was. The "tapas" came out, $28!!!! For a small dinner plate size mishmash of red capsicum, olives, feta and humus, obviously all from a jar. The chorizo was almost cold and hasn't been grilled at all, tasted and felt like it had been zapped in a microwave. The "gourmet" beef and chicken satays, there were only four and they each had a total of 2-3 small pieces of meat on them. And there was nothing satay about them really. We had to go back to the bar to request plates and cutlery, and then we were shunted out at 4:30 because they were expecting an influx of people from the Kylie concert next door. The drinks were fine, most of the staff were lovely when they weren't totally impatient and disorganised. Lady Daly would be fine for a drinking pub but the food and service is dismal, until it improves they shouldn't be advertising their food on sites like Scoopon. I've worked in customer service and hospitality previously and am not usually a complainer but this was really disappointing, especially when you take your family there.
Greedygreedyguts
Awful. Don't go to this pub if you want a decent meal because the expensive, glitzy reno cannot hide the woeful food. My burger contained a sausage meat pattie, dry lettuce and tomato while the chips were dehydrated. My friend had what appeared to be a microwaved dish of minced meat and cheese, supposedly some sort of pie. I complained and refused to eat the meal. While the manager was attentive and gave us free beers to make up for it, I definitely won't be going back. Appalling.
Jye_nikki
Disgusting!. Please don't go here for a meal! and had the most disgusting meal I've ever had. I had a beef schnitzel that was dry as all hell and promptly complained to one of the staff. I told them that it was obviously cooked or reheated in the microwave to which they responded that the microwave had been thrown out 2 days ago, I then responded that you can't really run a kitchen without a microwave..... I informed the staff member that my mate was a chef and that was definitely not a freshly cooked schnitzel to which the person said nothing and walked off. Very bizarre behaviour from the staff and I would have appreciated my money back but not even an apology! The worst pub in Adelaide by far. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.
Parmi Guide
The price is around what one would expect for a standard Parmi at a pub. Tis a shame this was not your standard Parmi size. The proportion of chips and salad was pretty spot on. 7/10
