Food so good you'll want to eat it off the ground.
Not only do these guys do seriously great food (I've never ordered something I didn't love), they also actively give back to their community. Just this year they have instigated fundraising and donation collections for the Kangaroo Island bushfires; more recently, a pay it forward meal/coffee system for health workers and people struggling after losing their job from Covid-19 shut downs.
But back to the food.... today I ordered a B.L.A.S.T bagel. The bagel had been smeared with butter and toasted on the grill, the bacon was the right amount of crispiness, the lettuce and tomato added welcome freshness, the avocado was generously smashed and the spiced aioli was a delight. You can imagine my devastation when I accidentally dropped the last quarter on the ground! While most of the remains couldn't be saved, I'm not ashamed to admit I picked up the one salvageable, bacon-topped bagel half and ate it đ
Have wanted to stop here since it opened. Quick stop for coffee and a catch up. The coffee as expected was outstanding. Table also had a ham an cheese croissant and brownie. The croissant was fantastic warm great cheese and ham and not flattened like other cafes. The brownie also excellent. Great staff excellent decor a real cool cafe.
Great food, super fresh & tasty salads & bowls. Canât beat the burgers but the all day breakfast menu is my favourite. Really friendly service & great coffee. Quirky science theme but not overwhelming. They also have a free meeting room & free wifi.
great food and service however the smoothies weren't the best
my tropical smoothie literally tasted like straight milk with a few passion fruit seeds while my boyfriends chocolate smoothie was still powdery and textured
We went here for the first time using a 25% entertainment voucher. Even without the voucher the prices are reasonable. There were plenty of vego options for my friend. I had the burger and we shared the salad (beetroot/quinoa?) The salad was great. The burger was ok. I like a softer bun. The cheese was almost non existent. I asked and was told it was on the bottom bun. It so thin, I couldn't taste it nor see it. I prefer my cheese on the patty, so it melts with the patty heat. Great quicky cafe.
Did not know The Lab even existed until today. This tidy little place is found on busy Payneham road and it is easily missed if you are driving by. Plenty of car parking around the back of cafe. I ordered the beef burger and fries which was tasty, fresh and very filling! It was actually a fairly decent burger. The prices are quite reasonable. I also had an almond latte and the coffee tasted great!
I don't feel like this place gets the recognition it deserves, relatively new on the Adelaide cafe scene in a sort of blink and you'd miss it location. It's a tiny cafe decked out like a laboratory (they even serve their drinks in beakers). It's well worth the stop for a brew when travelling down Payneham Road. These guys also seem to come up with something new every week, so make sure you check out their specials.
3/2018: Back again and I must say, just as good this time around! Brought my daughter here for her birthday breakfast and enjoyed the lab cakes (although I preferred the ricotta hot cakes I had the last visit) and the bacon and egg burger-If you have the option of adding a hash brown to something on the menu, I say add the hash brown! If you don't have the option, maybe just ask whether you can have one..they are delicious!
Great little place..didn't know it was there but found it in the entertainment book. Will definitely be back! Excellent coffee- had the iced latte and it came in a cute little beaker. Ricotta hot cakes with banana and maple butterscotch sauce were so good..highly recommende
They have friendly staff, yummy food, good value, and the cafe is clean and bright :) its my local and a great place to work or study with a coffee
One lovely crisp Saturday Winter's morning Sofia and I (Amanda) decided to do something a little crazy and embark on a healthy walk at Morialta Falls before treating ourselves to breakfast at The Lab in our activewear! We had been eyeing off The Lab since it opened a little while ago but it only recently opened for trading on a Saturday, which is a lot more convenient for us.
The Lab is a quirky little cafe located inside the Australian Medical Placements building in the eastern suburbs. As their name implies the place is decorated with lots of different medical and lab related accessories. There is also a large periodic table on one of the glass walls adding to the medical theme.
Lovely little place perfect for a nice quiet area to just sit and relax and enjoy your peaceful atmosphere or to have a good catch up with a friend. The food was just as pleasant as its surroundings, and I especially liked the whole science theme that is set up for the cafe matching its name.

The Lab is a new cafe with potential to be great. I can only judge the toastie I had on a recent visit, as it was too late in the afternoon to try their other dishes. This place will earn a higher score from me if their breakfast and/or lunch options taste as good as they sound.
Very nice food + great indoor&outdoor environment + good coffee+ very friendly service, that was a really nice breakfast catch up with friends. i'd strongly recommend to everyone.
When you read âThe Labâ, do you think of beakers, test tubes, and flasks? Perhaps, youâre envisioning a sterilised environment, where everything is crystal-clear, pristine, and white like a scientistâs lab coat?. Well, then youâre in luck! The Lab is a cute, little cafĂ© that is situated in the heart of the suburb of Payneham and offers drinks in such containers. Letâs just say that the science-loving nerd in me could not have been more excited to check this place out!
