This seems to be becoming a popular haunt for me now that I'm visiting Adelaide regularly on business and staying at InterContinental frequently. But, that's quite a good thing. Service here at The Atrium is consistently terrific and friendly, even during the busy times. The atmosphere of The Atrium is conducive for conducting business meetings, performing personal business tasks for extended periods of time, or just meeting up with friends and family on a casual basis. Evenings can get quite busy, especially following a football match at the adjacent Adelaide Oval, but the atmosphere is generally still quite jovial.
Admittedly, the food selection is relatively modest, but the quality of the food is excellent and serving sizes are more than satisfactory. The Sunday brunch menu is a nice touch and a change from the norm. Definitely worthy of a visit.
First time visiting the Atrium tonight, and it was a very pleasant experience. The bar staff were courteous and efficient, and the drinks were well made. I had an espresso martini and my friend ordered a strawberry daiquiri (recommended by the bartender), and both drinks went down smoothly. The ambience of the lounge was quite nice, and being situated inside the InterContinental meant that the noise level wasn't overly boisterous. Thank you for the drinks, we'll be back!
Are you after something a little different to the usual classic high tea for a leisurely afternoon feast with your family and friends? Why not head to the Atrium Lounge located in the InterContinental Adelaide for their twist on the classic High Tea, their High Coffee experience–a one of a kind in Adelaide! (Psst, the classic High Tea option is still available FYI!) The amount of caffeine throughout the experience will surely wake you up during the afternoon slump. 😉
I grew up in Adelaide but I have never set foot in the InterContinental Adelaide – there hasn’t been any reason for me to. That was until recently when I was invited to try the High Coffee (yes, you read right). The High Coffee is like a degustation where you are presented with drinks to complement the food – you can really see the care in detail when designing the menu.
A huge fan of seafood, I began with the Tasmanian smoked salmon in mountain bread. The addition of watercress and horseradish made it a delightful way to start the afternoon festivities. I then moved on to the prosciutto in sour dough (yum) and the cucumber and sour cream sandwich (which unfortunately was very stale on top).
Really tasty food and comfortable surroundings. Only lost one star because the singer they hired to play during the meal had the volume turned up way too loud, so it was very difficult to have a conversation. You could see people on many other tables straining to hear each other too. It's a shame as he was a really good singer but it felt more like a gig than a dinner service.
Nothing better than checking into your hotel, dropping your bags up to your room then heading downstairs for that first weekend away beverage.
Ordered the largest Heineken available and it didn't dissapoint. Super cold, super crisp and thirst quenching.
The Atrium is a great open space with loads of natural light and was open till midnight which was handy as we grabbed a night cap when we got back from dinner.
We were even able to take our drinks up to the room which was convenient.
Only criticism would be the seats have seen better days and definitely need a upgrade from the 80's & the bar area was constantly laden with returned empty glasses which made it feel a bit "pub like", probably not the look an upmarket hotel bar wants to project.
Staff were super friendly and attentive.
The Atrium Lounge offers a decent variety of food and alcoholic beverages to enjoy with lunch or dinner. Few of us ordered few different dishes and mine was the butter chicken. This review is based on everything we ordered, the tacos were great and the cocktails were delicious. Now the butter chicken was very average, the sauce was okay, the rice was bland but the chicken was cooked perfectly. The prices are steep here but that's a standard when you go to and stay at an expensive hotel.
A secret spot for lunch in the CBD with any main and a glass of wine for $25 at lunch.
Courteous and attentive service, steak that melts in your mouth and delicious sides makes for a perfect break during the day. Would come back for this value
The best butter chicken i have ever had, i came with my daughter, the service was amazing, the staff welcomed us nicely giving my daughter coloring book to play with, the food was yumm!
Love the laid back atmosphere of this lounge. Food is excellent (we had the vegan curry and the mushroom pasta). Cocktails are well made too.
