I was given the wrong drink to start with. The menu was limited to battered or crumbed meat and seafood. No steaks! In fact no real meat at all as far as we could see. The salad looked nice but the dressing was too bitter to eat it. There were only 6 other people, so not busy.... we aren't surprised really, given the sad menu options. It's a shame. This used to be such a great place.

Use to love this place for a family get together. It is really in need of some upgrading, looks very run down upon entry, some of the chairs were soiled stained - they need to be thrown out! Some staff were quick and friendly, and some were not.
Children 3 years old and below are free. Prices for buffet dining $$$$ does not include drinks. But does include a water bar (bottles of water uncovered) tea & coffee.
The food was dry and needed more variety. But it does offer cooked prawns, mussels, calamari fish & octopus so more seafood than other buffet dining around Adelaide.
The soft serve ice cream machine was not that great, but they still has the cinnamon doughnut machine station.

Nice guy helped with the Pinot selection . Wouldn’t know it’s open but it is 😁

Visited here recently for lunch. On entering the Hotel it was modern and clean with friendly staff who greeted us as we approached the counter. We had attended this day for a buffet lunch. The selection was somewhat limited compared to some other buffet restaurants, but what we ate we throughly enjoyed. The roast meat was carved as required and it was juicy and tender, nice range of vegies and salads, seafood, asian, and desserts. They had hot cinnamon donuts which was a real treat. Wasnt too busy on the Monday we attended so we didnt have to stand in line waiting to serve our food like l have done at some other buffet restaurants. I would definitely eat here again. There is plenty of free onsite parking available with wheelchair access. There is a drive thru bottle shop aswell.

Beatiful place, not too far from the center, the buffet is the best! Many options and very good staff. Is better if you make a reservation first, otherwise you will wait maybe for 15 or 20 minutes tops. Totally recomended 😊

The food was amazing, what a huge improvement. I went there about six or so years ago & wasn't impressed. The variety of food is good too, I'll definitely go there again! Reasonably priced too 😊

Although COVID has rendered some of these gems as quiet, this venue was great. Meals were affordable, quickly served and beer was chilled. Thursday night, Keno, Lotto and Horse betting facilities made for a good night with no booking needed. Friendly staff.

I was in group of 14 people. Food was great. Service not so good. Meals took ages to be served. By the time I got mine, first ones served had finished their meals

After being in Watermark Glenelg few nights before, this doesn’t compare. Some of the food looks unappetising. The coffee we got has a funny taste. Service is great though, superfast clearing of plates. It’s a bit expensive for what it is for.

Fresh doughnuts and soft serve at the buffet were the highlight! Super fast clearing plate service. The rest were a little lacklustre however I would come back for it.

Im sorry this was quite possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had. We went on a sunday lunch and were very excited as it was a birthday lunch. We arrived to quite possibly the rudest reception from a waitress, and shown to our table. Hoping things would get better we paid the $39 per head and sat down. Yes its a buffet, but they could not keep up with the food, on several occassions all of the dishes and bowls were empty. They just could not keep up with it. The cheese and chilli kransky was rotten. And some of the foods were not labelled meaning I had to be careful as i have food allergies. We watched grotty chefs wiping knives on their aprons to slice different meats, hopefully noone was cross contaminated and caught food poisoning. Overall i expected so much more but the poor customer service and underwhelming food left a sour taste in my mouth and wont be back. It is a very loud venue, and waitresses use their mobile phones while tending to cutomers. Super unprofessional.

Absolutely appalling!!! Had a big table for a Sunday lunch, and the food was not ever once topped up. Even though we informed the waitstaff that the food was running out. Also the food was so limited for choice and stuff you could literally fry at home for half the price. Worst buffet I have ever been to. Their was also flies ALL over the food!!

Love this place. I lunch at the Buckingham Arms regularly and always enjoy the experience, including acknowledging the many 'regulars' who seem pleased to be there as well.
The service, especially from the lovely Sarah (and from all the staff) is wonderful.) The menu choices are pleasing and even though there is coffee 'on tap' in the smorgasbord area, staff are always willing to provide cappuccinos, lattes, etc from the bar for those of us who prefer that.
In particular I appreciate the maintenance of the familiar friendly and comfortable atmosphere that has been evident for many years and enjoyed by many long time patrons.
thank you

Awful customer service. Lauren was really nasty. Awful, awful customer service. Got my son's age wrong and she refused to change it because it was worth more money. Then she was rude. Horrible experience spoiled my wedding anniversary.

Manners go along way. If I ever had to be reminded of how manners and respect for the customer was the best way for people to recommend and return.
Then the lack of it here showed why dinning out in adelaide is declining rapidly.

We most recently ate at the smorgasbord in early August. The price is on par with other smorgasbords around, however the variety and quality were not. The food was not bad but it was nothing special. The service was not brilliant, none of the staff smiled and we had to wait for a table we had already booked for the first sitting. Dont bother with this one.

Appauling and out dated. We went to the"Buck" last night (Monday)for my mothers birthday.
We found the food to be absolutely appauling.
The service was equally as bad, as we had to clear our own plates between courses.
We had been here 30 years ago and the decore was exactly the same today as it was then!!
Suggestion DON'T GO THERE

Way overpriced. The quality & quantity of the food available is deplorable & what a rip off!!! $35 per adult (on a Saturday night) is way overpriced. The spring rolls & the samosas looked & tasted like they'd come out of the frozen foods section at Coles. Could definitely take a leaf out of the Walkers Arms book who offer a much more varied selection of food & better service.

Smorgasbord is overpriced camp food. Visited here with family on Saturday lunch. Priced $24 for Seniors, $28 for Adults, came to $115 for a family of 4 to dine out and not even a complimentary first drink is included. Food is very average. There is quite a range of meat, salads, seafoods, desserts, but the quality is seriously lacking. The vegetable samosas are so identical they must have come from a packet, and the bread rolls certainly had that 'freezer' taste. The chocolate mousse looked appetising but somehow managed to be flavourless, and the coffee comes from a automatic button machine! The only positive for me was the fresh donuts as they have a machine on site. Staff are efficient but it is quite frustrating that after only 5 seconds of finishing your plate they are there barging in to clear it. The decor gives the impression of travelling back in time to a cheap hotel horror flick, and I noticed in the women's toilets cob web holes in the roof, and the 'warm' hand drier was giving off absolutely freezing air. Will not be returning, and would rather pay $25 for a decent cafe or restaurant meal.

Poor food, poor value, poor service. Very disappointing and way over priced

Great Value!. Booked a table here last Tuesday with 3 friends. It was my first visit in over 15 years.

The smorgasboard had plenty of choice and it all looked very inviting but as usual with a set up like this, the hot food selections weren't very hot.
(In fairness to the Buck, I've found the same thing at all other smorgasboards too, including our very expensive Casino Restaurant).

The prices were very reasonable - in fact the cheapest I've seen for what's on offer. There was a hot carvery, fresh prawns and seafood, plus lots of soup, vegetables, asian treats, plus salads and a fair choice of yummy sweets).

It is cheaper on weekdays than on the weekends.
We all sampled bits of everything and were quite impressed with the taste and presentation. The service was friendly too.

The only "bad" thing I did notice, was that the place itself looked very tired. The chairs had peeling paint and no spring left in them and the blinds looked arcaic, with pictures of fuit bowls on them - the same blinds from over 15 years ago. Maybe the money they save on not doing a revamp, is why the smorgasboard is such good value.

Still, with the food being so good, you don't notice the decor after awhile.

All in all, a great evening - I give it an 8/10!

Very good food. Great buffet, great prices!

Very disappointing. When I made the booking on the phone the staff were very helpful and friendly, but on arriving the lady at the counter was surly and rude. One person in our party had a full glass of wine dropped on them by the waiting staff. The selection in the smorgasboard was far less than advertised on the website and a lot of it looked like it came from a tin.

We dined at this hotel last week with some friends and family.. it was a Saturday night and the place was a buzz. The drink service was attentive for a smorgasbord restaurant, other similar places you have to get your own. Good selection of tasty food. My favourite was the hot baked leg ham.. good selection of seafood also. Our kids tucked into the hot donuts and ice cream. Wow.. I remember doing that when my parents took me here.. Great to see places like this still going strong.. overall, great value at $30. Attentive & friendly staff, in comfortable surroundings.

Overpriced And food was terrible! Little variety and had to keep asking staff to replenish food - certainly not worth the price u pay !

Went there for my gran's birthday and was really pleased with the selection at the smorgasbord - its like all you can eat pub food. Quality was above average to great and staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Bel
Standard pub fare menu is reasonably priced if you buy the special on that day i.e. roast, schnitzel, steak. Nothing amazing but you can get a decent meal for $10-$15, who could complain?
Steven
Overpriced, outdated, poor selection. We attended on a Saturday night and the food was average at best. There was no selection, the only hot meat on offer was ham. I had not been for years and only came this time because we could not get into the Walkers Arms. The difference between the two is substantial. Save some money and have a better time at the walkers arms.

Buckingham Arms management, lover your prices and have a better selection.

A nice place to eat at weather it's for tea or a function the bucking arms hotel can cater to your needs. Service is good and food is delicious. The only thing that I didn't like was the chairs, they seem so old compared to the rest of the restraunt. 8.5/10

The service here started OK but it gradually got worse. Our plates got cleared the first few times, but by the end of the night, the service was nonexistent. The atmosphere was relaxed with such a cosy setting. The buffet here was $35, which was over priced for the lack of quality in the dishes. There were some highlights, but not enough to justify the cost.
I have always thought of the Buckingham Arms as a smorgasbord place and had never had the opportunity to try it. However, when we looked up the menu online, we found in addition to the smorgasbord, they also offer bistro meals in another section. Quick check to see schnitzel was on there and off we went!
Merkel Marmaduke
The Buckingham Arms is at 1 Walkerville Terrace, Gliberton. Merkel and Myrtle were there to partake of the Saturday lunch smorgasbord. This was an excellent buffet with a variety of styles of food, seafood and desserts. The only hot beverage available in the smorgasbord was self-serve coffee from a machine so Merkel ordered a hot chocolate at the bar. It cost $3.50 and came in a stemmed glass with a handle on a saucer. The drink was topped with a dollop of white froth on background of brown froth. The hot chocolate looked better than it was tasted as it was far too sweet even though two packets of sugar were provided in the saucer.
