Review Mylk Bar - Adelaide

Took an hour for lunch to come out and we were on 1 hour lunch break. Were not told it may take longer when we ordered, no updates or apologies from staff. Meal finally came out and was disgusting. Schnitzel was burnt and dry, calamari was soft and soggy chips were scarce and not great. Have given this place several chances, never again. Bad food and bad service!

Bad experience, waited 25mins for my drink with only 1 person serving customers and making drinks at the same time during lunch period. food was basic and only received 10 pieces of chips with my snitzel which was over cooked. waste of money and my lunch break.

Relaxing open atmosphere with modern vibe. Plenty of seating, good for groups. Came for breakfast on a Thursday and had the Mylk Eggs Benny, which was really tasty. My friend had the smashed avocado which was really generous. Will be back again for drinks or lunch.

Best chicken schnitzels in town!! Wow!! In addition to awesome food, the atmosphere is pleasant and staff are friendly. Keep up the good work!

Food was great and came out quickly which helps when you're coming in on your lunch break.

Good beer range and above average pub cuisine. Good for casual work lunch.

Meals are quite nice and they have a variety that covers most food preferences. Is noisy and crowded at busy times of day. Im not a fan of stools and a lot of the tables have those. They get uncomfortable pretty quickly.

The Intriigue of the name of this cafe/ restaurant/bar is enough to gain your curiosity to try for the first time. It didn't disappoint being a modern setting with ample seating and space for groups of all sizes to meet. The variety of food served was very tasty tempting and tantalisingly agreeable to the tastebuds. This is a must place to sample if you haven't done so before.

Mylk Bar is still open for business and offering a great takeaway menu. Plus they have the added benefit of having fixed bar tables out the front so there is some semblance of normality whilst eating your takeaway. The burger was really tasty but the chips made my day.

A group of us came here for a birthday lunch, lucky we've booked as they were packed. Nice atmosphere, food was okay, nothing to go on too much about.
The common consensus amongst our group was that the servings were quite small for the price you pay, especially when you compare it to similar establishments in the city that are as popular. The nachos were the only one that seemed worth the price.

Fantastic place for tapas and drinks! Prices are very reasonable, serving sizes are generous and the staff are brilliant - friendly and efficient. It's definitely a place I would be wanting to revisit!

The worst customer service I have ever had.

We work in an office near by and the manager has provided his number so we can pre order...however when you ring to pre order they refuse to do it. The were very rude and abrupt over the phone.

When we arrived we were served by a very rude staff member who snapped at us because we didn't know which table had which number (we were at the counter ordering) and acted like we should know all their table numbers and which ones were free off the top of our heads.

The food took a long time to come out and it was average at best.

My self and many co workers won't be going there again after this sort of service.

This is with out a doubt a restaurant with the most unbelievably incompetent staff imaginable. I arrived at 8pm to have dinner and drinks with friends, only to discover that a) the kitchen had been shut down at 8.30 - ON A FRIDAY NIGHT - because the owner/manager whoever had asked our table before I came if they were done eating. That's bullshit. IT'S YOUR RESTAURANT. YOU ADVERTISE THAT YOU CLOSE AT 10.30PM ON GOOGLE, AND 12AM ON ZOMATO. YOUR OWN MENU ADVERTISES PIZZA AND TAPAS 'TIL LATE'. 8.30PM ON A FRIDAY IS NOT LATE. KEEP YOUR DAMN KITCHEN OPEN WHILE YOU STILL HAVE CUSTOMERS, LIKE A REGULAR EFFING RESTAURANT.Then, the waitress called for last drinks - AT 9PM!! - and took out the till around 15 minutes later. There were still TWO WHOLE TABLES filled with customers, willing to sit and keep drinking. How lazy and stupid can you be? The wait staff just sat around and yakked when they could have been working. Hell, if you people had been capable of doing the bare minimum asked of you, I would have gladly handed over cash for a pizza (approx. $15), and from 8-10 downed 3 beers (approx. $9 x 3 = $27). That's $42 you missed out on because you're just utterly unprofessional. I am never coming back, and frankly if your restaurant shuts down because of your poor management I will feel zero sympathy.

Was lucky enough 2be invited here last week for their 1st degustation dinner accompanied with Mollydooker wines and it was great! Have been here before and love the tapas, the typo rustic look of the place and the staff are just awesome!! 😀
The degustation was a delight of 5 courses, 8 wines and packed with flavour! Started with halumi pesto, croquettes & arancini nibbles, then had ravioli for entree and that was my fave. Moved on2 pork cutlet and then dessert of homemade marshmallows & salted caramel popcorn. Then the ending cheese platter, tho I was full, I just couldn't help myself :)
The wine matching was great having not tried Mollydooker before, and I was lucky enough 2win a bottle and glass 2take home boom! Will most definitely return. 👌😀

The Strata Bar on Flinders Street – for whatever reason – ceased to exist some time ago. It appeared for a while that nothing was going to be going into this seemingly prime location in the CBD, however some work started being done on renovating it into something entirely new. Mylk Bar is the end product. Apparently they have been heavily advertising, particularly on radio, but being a Triple J listener this was clearly not something that I have personally been ‘treated’ to. It certainly did create a lot of interest though, and on first visitation a short while after opening, it was almost entirely booked out and the place was abuzz with punters.

I'm surprised at the amount of negative reviews. I've been here quite a few times as I work nearby and have always had a great experience. The felafel wrap is amazing! They have a great drinks menu and the staff are very accommodating and friendly, even when they're extremely busy. My friends & colleagues have also loved their meals. I can't find a fault!

Great little bar. Love heading down to Mylk Bar for a few knock off drinks and even a sneaky pizza! Charles the bartender is super friendly and provides great customer service. Great beer selection to boot!

Mylk Bar. There was a slight delay in an order, however this problem was quickly rectified as soon as we enquired about the delay. The issue was quickly and very politely sort out, with fantastic customer service. Everyone makes hiccups and the staff handled it perfectly.

Good for tapas and drink. This is a nice place to come for tapas and a drink after work. My partner and I enjoyed a number of small dishes of chicken popcorn, halumi cheese, greek salad, wedges, garlic bread and a small BBQ chicken pizza. The food was good, not great, but tasty, especially the wedges and cheese. The service was great, there was only one server on for the entire place, he was running around picking up the dishes and glasses, serving at the bar and taking food orders - all with a good spirit. This guy was awesome.

The ambiance was nice, it did get a bit too loud at the beginning with a large table of people, but after they left we could have a conversation without raising our voices. My partner loved the music in the background - Mo-town funk. In all, a nice place to chill out, don't expect anything amazing food-wise though.

Great!. Its a total blend of Typo & Ned's- completely quirky retro and comfortably sheek. Staff & service simply lovely, as much can be said for food and wine. Had a mix of tappas followed by cheese platter & was very nice. The zucchini fritters were surprisingly delish. Will return ;)

Its got an awesome vibe, you have to check it yourself. Hi All, this is one of Adelaide's best kept secret, its got perfect ambiance, exceptional n quirky, staff are hilliarous n provide awesome service. The food is honest. Their pizza is best, its gourmet with micro herbs n good combination. Chefs special menus are really innovative, you should try chicken curry, its beats most of Asian restaurants. The drink menu is very versatile, they support good SA wines including some rare ones and some organic ones too. I know I sound like a great fan, which I am and proud of it. You should experience it yourself, you will be fan too.

SHOCKING! horrible and embarrassing accutations from staff at MYLK BAR.. This evening my partner and I were walking back from dinner out and when we arrived to my car, I put my bag on the ground to try and find my keys. As we got in my car (parked outside MYLK BAR) a man with dread locks who worked there came up to my door and was saying something.. I politely opened my door to see what he wanted as I thought something was wrong. He started accusing me of 'pissing on his plants' (his words) I had no idea what he was talking about and was quite shocked and taken aback. He said he had seen me ' piss on his plants' I assume what he and the other staff standing around inside saw was me getting my keys from my bag to open my car door. I was terribly embarrassed by his accusations as he was basically saying that I, a girl would pull my pants down in the middle of the street and piss in his plants... I am utterly appalled by this.
You might want to look into attracting patrons rather than pushing them away..
Ashlea.

I wrote to them on Facebook and this was their response:
MYLK BAR I am sorry that you thought it was you he was talking about, however he was referring to your partner who he saw relieving himself on our plants
9 hrs · Like

They had gone ahead and insulted my partner now as well... there was NO sign of an apology and they were still throwing incredibly rude accusations at us. I couldn't believe it.. I am never going to dine in their cafe and by the sounds of the reviews on here i'm not missing out on anything.

Ashlea.

I ordered pulled pork bun today and it's the worst one I ever had. The pork was really dry and practically no sauce and no flavour in it. Service was good tho.

Average food. Order the mushroom and gorgonzola pizza. The mushrooms were the cheap button mushrooms quatered, with cheese and dried herbs!!! Dried!!!! I can make this at home, I expect better quality food when I paying for it, buy more expensive musrooms and get fresh herbs in. I agree with the other reviewer, remove the TV. I dont need someone clapping and cheering in my ear about the cricket score.

Went for lunch midweek . Great atmosphere and excellent service. As a wine bar it met expectations with a solid wine list. The food was excellent. I had the cheese burger and a friend the salt and pepper squid. Only suggestion is the menu could extend the tapas options big time (think mo vida in Melbourne) . I didn't expect burgers and dogs at a wine/tapas bar, and the TV screen should go ! However, the ingredients are there for a great spot. They can afford to take bigger risks with the menu. That said, it's worth another visit for sure...

I went to Mylk for lunch and had a great burger and amazing iced coffee, yum! my friend had the chicken caesar wrap which she also enjoyed. Absolutely love the decor and style! highly recommended!

Good for drinks, not for food.. Went there with a few mates for after-work drinks and nibbles. While the drinks selection and interior decorating are good, the food was not. The food my mates ordered was apparently not very good. I wouldn't know, as there was only one item on the tapas menu I could order that was specified as gluten free (I'm allergic to wheat), which was the tiny-serve of sauteed mushrooms. But guess what came on the plate - bread! If anyone has any sort of food allergy, do not get any of the food at Mylk.

Ambience was fantastic. Food and staff were both great and the wine list is to die for. People who appreciate food will find great pairings with wines all the down the list. Highly recommended.

Great for after work drinks

I went to Mylk Bar for a Tuesday lunch and ordered the zucchini fritter. The fritter was not what I expected. It looked like a frittata wedge that had been deep fried. It was served with oily crinkle cut chips and a salsa of raw red onion and canned corn. My friends had the beef salad, mac 'n' cheese and the pulled pork burger, and said they were ok but not great. If you like this style of food, Jack Ruby on King William St does the same thing but of a higher quality. Mylk Bar needs to up the ante on its food otherwise there's no reason to go back.

Fabulous new bar in Adelaide. Had a great night out at Mylk last weekend. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Loved the popcorn chicken and the nachos were addictive. Already booked again for Friday night.

Absolutely Awful!. I was so excited to try Mylk and I am still stunned at how bad the food actually was. The pulled pork bun, was not pulled pork, it was chopped, roasted pork. The cheeseburger had raw red onion and lettuce on it and the patty was very homemade and not in a good way. A few people i know who had dined there had complained the chips were undercooked and low and behold they were. The Popcorn chicken, was not popcorn chicken, it was bits of chicken thigh et al deep fried, no batter, no crumbing, inedible. With all the amazing burger places in Adelaide these days, how can you not get a pork bun and a cheeseburger right. Mylk, sack your chef and re-hire, you have work to do and I wish you good luck!

The place has a very good wine list and a range of boutique beers, but if you’re like me, you’re here for the food. There is a decent selection of food to choose from with mainly tapas, and local and American inspired dishes.

I greatly enjoyed my lunch at the Mylk Bar, all the elements worked together on the plate well, it has a great ambience and friendly staff. I look forward to coming back to sample some of their other menu items.
Delicious Please
Mylk Bar has the advantage of being new and therefore 'cool' which will draw people in, but the quality of their food is inconsistent. I loved my chilli dog and a few of my onion rings (the less oilier ones) but the other dishes lacked flavour. Service was pretty quick for a lunchtime and meal sizings are quite generous. I would come back to try their other lunch options but I would probably be more excited for their tapas and pizza menu.
RIP IT UP MAG
Mylk Bar is the next trendy bar to hit Adelaide. Replacing the old Jackpots, it is in the heart of the business district, appealing to businessmen and women. Its bold black-and-white-striped exterior influenced by the old-fashioned milk bars of the '60s and '70s stands out on the otherwise dreary strip, with a modern and elegant interior. It would be hard to find something you didn’t feel like on the lunch menu, including sandwiches, wraps, pasta, fish, steak, and they even try their hand at the gourmet American foods, with pulled pork buns, barbecue ribs and chilli dogs. They know how important your time is, and will deliver your food so you can get back before your lunch break is over. Mylk Bar isn’t just for those in suits. From 5pm they serve tapas and pizzas, and there are plenty of boutique beers on tap and South Australian wine
On The Chopping Board
The interior reminded us of Bar on Gouger when it was first opened, 8 years ago. The stacked stone walls are outdated, as are the wooden waves on the ceiling and the blue light at the back of the venue. It appears as if the interior designers have tried to break the space up into a casual area at the front of the venue and a lounge/bar area at the back; however, the space seems too small to achieve what they may have set out to do. Mylk Bar Signage As a result, we were confused by trying to work out what the theme of the place is. There's a kitsch astroturfed alfresco area at the front which, had it been continued throughout the venue, would've been quite cool.
