Review Turi - Adelaide

John Joves
Don't know much about Sicilian cuisine (or how different it is from Italian) but I like this one that's run by a husband-and-wife team. The pasta is very delicious (I had the meatball one) and the drinks selection are nice too. Prices are reasonable. And sometimes, they have live shows too. So well worth dropping by if you're in the CBD.

Long fan of Turi's. Whether its breakfast, lunch or Friday drinks, you're in good hands. Swing by on a Friday afternoon. Happy hour runs between 3 and 7 PM. Castello cans for $5 and $10 for cocktails. Great crowd, fun atmosphere. You'll have a great time.

Really lovely, atmospheric place, and not too expensive. Freshly piped cannoli abound!

If you check Facebook, you will find that I left a 3* review for watery pasta... I was then abused on there own webpage (check review section) ... and told to go elsewhere. Not only does this place have bad service, it also has bad pasta. How ever I was willing to more then try another meal, the owner had even offered a replacement, this was before the staff had gone on a rant against me, the owner then blocked me.... poor service, poor effort.. do not eat here.

$5 for Peroni Reds in happy hour, you can't get these beers anywhere, bargain!! #BeatTheGrind

We had a breakfast and was amazing, delicious!I drunk the best capuccino since I left Italy!

Now I understand why Clemenza in The Godfather said "leave the gun, take the cannoli".

Some time back I popped by Turi Bar e Caffe for a quick lunch and a long overdue catch up with a friend. It was just past lunch hour so we got lucky with seating. This place always seems to be buzzing, with a perfect location amongst offices I’m not surprised. There’s tapas and hot meals for a longer lunch or foccacia rolls and paninis for the quick takeaway. Since both of us weren’t heading back to work we took a look a the cocktails menu. For me it was the good old lemon lime bitters but my friend ordered the Sicillian Kiss. A refreshing drink of Gin, Campari, Pear Nectar & freshly squeezed Orange Juice they claim to be an offer you cannot refuse. I believe my friend enjoyed it greatly.

Dropped into Turi for lunch. Concise menu with something for everyone. The menu was well explained and it was pasta all round at the table. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My pasta and sauce was delicious. Three good sized meatballs in a delicious sauce.

Dropped in here based on reviews. Had omelette and coffee for breakfast which were both crafted with speed and perfection. I can see why this place is so popular they have all the ingredients down pat of a great cafe !
Tempting Palates
The next Zomato Meet Up was held at Turi Bar E Caffe at 3/25 Grenfell St, Adelaide. This Sicilian delight was on our "must visit list" after having spent a week in Sicily last year. Tucked away underneath the Grenfell St Plaza precinct, it is an inviting and welcoming bar/caffe. On this occasion we were served a small selection of the great finger food on offer. The menu consisted of Panelle, Cocktail Arancini, Meatballs and Olives and for dessert the Mini Cannolis. To get us started we were offered a Sicilian Limoncello and/or an Aperol Spritz along with the first plate of food that consisted of olives, fresh bread, caper berries, cheese and sopressa (salami) to snack on. The green olives were very tasty and so was the sopressa. The Fotina cheese was a hard cheese but had a lovely smooth texture.

Authentic Sicilian goodies can be found in the heart of our city at Grenfell Plaza at the red and yellow Turi Bar E Caffe, situated in between Hugo Boss and Red Door Bakery on Grenfell Street. The folks here pride themselves with authentic recipes using the best local and fresh ingredients with an extensive drinks menu including a handpicked selection of beer, wine and spirits imported direct from Italy as well as a cocktail menu for a cheeky drink during lunch or after work come Friday evenings.
The Eggless Breakfest
We came to Turi's for a Friday work team lunch after getting knocked back from Borsa, as we hadn't booked and there was eight of us. We sat were sat straight away at the last available table, which just so happened to seat exactly eight...score!

The decor is relaxed warehouse modern with chalkboard walls everywhere, which were very colourful. The menu is traditional Sicilian, do expect pasta, fish, meats etc, however it is distinct from most Italian restaurants. We started with sharing a big bowl of homemade panelle, which is a deep fried savoury fritter that bordered on a pastry/doughnut flavour, but was served dusted with salt alongside a mayonnaise type dipping sauce.

For main, I went for the Pasta Sarde which was oversized spaghetti with mashed sardines and an olive oil and breadcrumb crusting. Whilst we were told by our friendly waiter that traditionally this dish didn't need Parmesan, I thought it needed the lifting bite of the cheese as it was somewhat bland without.

We finished with mini ricotta cannoli's which were ok but not the greatest.

Seated quickly, service was attentive, food came out promptly and wasn't overly expensive. I'll be back!

Went to Turi for the first time today and had a quick but really enjoyable lunch. Tried the eggplant pasta, the meatballs with a side salad and the Panelle. All of the dishes were delicious and nicely cooked. Topped it off with a well brewed macchiato and a gorgeous cannoli. It's hard to get to if you don't work in the city I guess but it's worth it if you can.

Had a really delicious meal at Turi.

Nice fresh and light Sicilian food.

The pannele is what they have instead of chips. Delicious deep fried with chickpea flour and fresh lemon was great.

The meatballs were so nice and light. A great location and a great place to go on a Friday after work or for a function.
I was told by a friend to try this place out.. as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the owner Salvatore. He's a great bloke!! On my friends recommendation I tried the freshly piped cannoli.. #wow #yum #(swoon).. I washed down the cannoli with a peppermint tea (just the right temp).. I'll be coming back!!
But I'm Hungry Now
Hands down the best cannolis I have ever had. Smooth creamy ricotta filling with flecks of chocolate which is piped fresh to order into a perfectly crispy shell. The ends are then dipped into chocolate shavings and dusted with icing sugar. The staff are exceptionally friendly. Can't wait to try their much touted Nutella hot chocolate and tapas selection.

Like most eateries in Adelaide, I first visited Turi when they opened nearly 18 months ago. The experience that I had was quite a good one so I was looking forward to paying them another visit. Adelaide Food Central, along with other fellow bloggers, were invited to sample some of their tapas style dishes. All food and drink were provided free of charge.

Oh wow, Turi is Sicilian heaven in the heart of Adelaide. Tucked just off Grenfell the location was chosen as the piazza and fountain made the owners think of Italy (swoon). The cannoli is freshly piped on order and the arancini and meatballs are made with classic Scicilian flavours including Middle Eastern influences. The ambiance is very well done and the staff make you feel SO welcome. Grab a quick lunch or enjoy an afterwork drink and settle in. Friday nights include a very enticing happy hour, who's up for a Prosecco?

Absolutely love this place and the friendly wonderful staff!
I get my morning coffee here almost everyday and its perfect every single time!
I wouldn't go anywhere else :)

This place is gorgeous & tucked away in the lovely Grenfell Plaza.

I absolutely got suckered in by the A-Frame on Grenfell street that blared, HOT NUTELLA CHOCOLATE.

Well, say. no. more.

I was in there in a flash, where I was greeted by a lovely barista who made me the Nutella Hot Chocolate whilst I was contemplating if I had died and gone to some kind of nutella filled heaven.

We chatted for a bit and she told me about their Friday night dinners, bar meals & famous ricotta cannolis. HOLD THE PHONE. Cannolis? I'll have ten.

She actually piped the cannoli in front of me to ensure the pastry didn't get soggy and it was truly divine. I ended up buying a heap for people at work and I was hailed as the best employee and I won all the things.

I think this place is great & I can't wait to explore it a bit more.

Impeccable Food, Friendly Service, Great Prices. I work in the Adelaide CBD and frequently bring friends, colleagues and clients to Turi Bar E Caffe for lunch, coffee or a drink on a Friday evening. The staff must be treated very well by the owner as they are always happy, friendly and welcoming.

The food served at Turi has a distinct Sicilian touch and it often feels that you are dining in the home of a Sicilian. The $9.90 lunch specials must be the best value in town! I would be happy eating here every day of the year.

I recommend Turi for any occasion.

Tutto Bene. I recently took some relatives Italy/Canada to this City nook and was totally happy with the fast efficient service, It was a busy lunch and the feeling about the place was good almost buzzing. The food offering matched its Sicilian roots and it was great...simple flavorsome and for me great value for money...Turi's spin on Sicily's own "Lemoncino" and Canoli is awesome....thanks hope to pop in again soon.

May I have some more. Turi is one of Adelaide's little treasures, with stand out staff who have obviously received training on their service and product knowledge. Simply put we were really impressed by Turi, it's a must try and one of those places that could easily turn into your regular, with a difference.

Treated like dirt. If you check Facebook, you will find that I left a 3* review for watery pasta... I was then abused on there own webpage (check review section) ... and told to go elsewhere. How ever I was willing to more then try another meal, the owner had even offered a replacement, this was before the staff had gone on a rant against me, the owner then blocked me.... poor service, poor effort.. do not eat here. I should mention since that, I have changed it to a 1* review, I highly recommend you do not eat here, first place I have ever on Facebook given a 1* review..

I'll only be back for the cannoli. I am Italian, and that is not Sicilian food. Arancini were maybe a quarter of what they should be with half the flavour (and double the price) the porchetta roll had lovely crunchy bread but the meat was burnt. If you are seeking a serious bread roll stuffed (really stuffed - and cheaper) with meat next door BahnMi is the one. Mmm... Quite disappointing!

A little dash of Sicily. What a fresh little spot, great bar, great food, get to it, lots of authentic dishes with a fresh contemporary look, great value also.
Amanda
Had never really heard about this place until I heard a radio show being broadcast from the restaurant (I was drawn in also for the arancini on special that day!)
Fortunately for me, the arancini were really nice! Only qualm: I would have liked a bed of rocket or a simple salad on the side, without having to pay too much (if anything) extra for it.
Finished up with a really good espresso! Thanks!

Great food friendly service. Had a great Friday night meal with friends - great food and wine; prompt and friendly service.

What a surprise this place was - true Sicilian fare in the heart of the CBD with no pretentiousness! Great coffee, friendly service and the cannoli almost as good as my friend's Nonna.
Pomegranate Passion
This little Sicilian gem, tucked in beside Bahn Mi and Borsa is perfect for a catch up with friends for a meal, coffee or a drink on a Friday night after work. Cosy but trendy with their pop art logo drawing you in, the friendly service, good food and the most amazing cannoli I’ve ever had, ensures this one is a keeper!

Tucked into Grenfell Plaza, Turi adds a pop-art splash to traditional Sicilian cuisine, including a few new dishes and drinks to Adelaide. In the right place. Photo: Willunga Wino Salvatore La Pira, the owner and manager, is our welcoming host, happily explaining the caffe - bar - restaurant's philosophy of authentic Sicilian cuisine. There is a lot for Salvatore to be proud of. The industrial space is adorned with bright graphics and even a huge mural painted onto the polished concrete floors. Wooden tables and chairs provide plenty of options for groups of all sizes. House-made goodies and fresh produce abounds on the white tiled bar - a very good sign in my books! It still feels homely and unpretentious. Turi's bar counter. Photo: Willunga Wino On Salvatore's recommendation, we just have to try the 'pannelle' - Palermo's answer to a bowl of hot chips. Pannelle are chickpea fritters, flecked with herbs and served piping hot with a wedge of lemon - the traditional acompaniment - as

Turi is one of the latest to open it’s doors offering authentic Sicilian cuisine. The menu is a melting pot of Arabic, Middle Eastern and Turkish inspired flavours with specialties including Arancini and Ragu.
