Review Najjars Mediterranean - Adelaide

Came here with an eatclub voucher - we like to try new places that way. Wasn't expecting too much, but had liked a few of the items that were on the menu so gave it a shot. It definitely exceeded expectations. The waitress was incredibly lovely and attentive. The food was very quick, hot, fresh and tasty! The dips were exquisite, I could have just ordered another dip tray and been done with it. Hubby had the kebab platter, which has the most tender, juicy, flavourful meat I've had in a long time- I don't normally like lamb at all, but sneakily stole 2 of his pieces! I had the falafel platter, which had all the bits you want with falafel- pickled radish, tabouli, hummus! It was such a delicious meal and so filling we couldn't even fit dessert.

Permanently closed since late 2020. A favorite go to dinner spot with great service, great food. If the owner is reading, please post if you decide to open elsewhere, your restaurant was fantastic!

Incredible customer service, the food was delicious and was fresh. There’s a wide variety of dishes to cater for all dietary requirements, which was really nice to see! Was a great experience, will definitely be back soon! 😊

Outdoor seating hosts to sheesha which can't be matched elsewhere in Adelaide. The food and service never disappoint with a more intimate dining area inside. Great as open late with outdoor heating and blinds for windy nights. Highly recommend as the best sheesha in Adelaide that provides top consistent restaurant mediterranean quality food which shows by how popular this place is with locals.

Nice little local shisha joint to lay back and relax.<br/>Shisha was average to good a little on the pricey side though with $35 for a head<br/>Not the best customer service, staff are very dry and look like they just want to get out of this place

Great place to hangout with different flavoured Sheesha! Cafe style seating. All the food is very good! Our favourites are cheesy / garlic bread, triple trio of hummus, tzatziki and olive tapenade, potato wedges / fries. Great coffee and they also serve alcohol! The chairs on the outside lower level could be improved as they are a bit uncomfortable!

Worst meals and service ever ! At arrival, they yell out from the bar and point to a table, you seat yourself. 15 minutes no menu yet, much less a drink. Our 3 meals came at 10 minute intervals, same for the table of 4 next to us. <br/><br/>  The minced lamb skewers smelled rotten, and the lamb backstrap came with a long black hair in the salad. We didn’t eat these and called for the Manager. 20 minutes later he arrived and informed us that the skewers were fine, but he wouldn’t try some or even smell them. He accused us of planting the hair in the meal ! For whatever reason ! Insane man.<br/><br/> This place is a hangout for the owners’ mates, and not for dining. He made us pay for what we wouldn’t eat. No apologies at all. <br/><br/>His motto on the menu.....” Our commitment is to treat every customer as a guest in our home.....”<br/><br/> Hate to see how he treats friends at his home !<br/><br/>Never, ever go to the Mediterranean Meza Restaurant , Melbourne St, Nth Adelaide !!! It won’t be there long.

Horrible meal. Lamb skewers were so burned the stick actually crumbled into charcoal trying to get the meat off! I would never come back here again. Would not recommend anyone to waste their money here.

Dinner with family. Out of 4 of us, not one person was happy with their meal. The garlic bread was charcoaled, the lamb was dry and over cooked, the bamboo meat skewers were toast and could not remove the meat easily... but the chips were amazing! In fact 0.5 of my rating is for the chips! Can't say as much for the random weird music playing during the meal.... sorry guys we won't be back

AMAZING FOOD. For the first time we ordered 5 dishes from this restaurant tonight. Kafta, whole chicken , garlic prawns, chicken skewers and steak , I could not pick a favorite dish as they were all excellent. Could not fault any of them, they all had their own unique flavor . I have tried the shisha in Dubai and wanted to try it in mezza and I found it its very nice and very popular I would highly recommend this restaurant! THANK YOU GUYS AND GOOD LUCK

This place is great mostly in the fact that it's always open and stays open till late. Hence, if you're hungry late at night (or Christmas night) or have a large group of friends who want to find somewhere to hang out it's a good option. The food is nice but can be inconsistent depending on when you go. The biggest let down regarding this place, would have to be the service... sometimes minimal staff for a packed out restaurant, or just poor quality service such as asking for water or glasses more than three times and getting them 30 minutes later.

Wow.... The food and service was amazing. Everything was cheap and the plates were full. I thought I would try it as I work down the road, I am definitely coming back.

Just had an AB it was the BOMB all the ingredients were fresh, the waitresses were so friendly and nice. Thank you Mezza I will be coming back very soon

Amazing sweets i highly recomend the Lady Finger cake.<br/>Smiles all 'round. The Shisha was so fantastic ingredients were very fresh. I rate this restaurant 100/10 👌👌👌

had a yiros, lamb tasted old and was tough, didnt eat much of it.    pizza had cheap salami on it and the pizza itself didnt look  or taste that good either.   I wouldn't order from here again

This place is odd for Melbourne St, inside is outdated and old. Staff were rude, with one waitress telling another off in front of us. Food was OK, but nothing amazing. They served a small basket of lebanese bread for our table of 10 people for dips, we had to ask for refills several times. <br/><br/>Would not come back, better Mediterranean places in North Adelaide.

Such a disappointment. They got our order wrong, over charged us and were rude. <br/><br/>We ordered the chicken avocado and a large pizza to share. Both were disappointing. <br/><br/>Much better options out there.

Now under new management and we have decided to have a dinner, extremely popular, no wonder we had to line up! A constantly changing menu always consists of a selection of unique and oh so delicious desserts. A huge range of coffees are also on offer. What a very talented chef, friendly and nice staff! Yummmm....!! VERY RECOMMENDED

Worst experience of my life. My girlfriend, her brother and I went here for dinner on our first night in adelaide and it was pretty bloody horrific. We ordered starters and mains and milkshakes and got told to pay upfront before we get our meals. So I pay and take a seat. There was one other table in the restaurant and as we waited for what seemed like eternity for our starters I realised our milkshakes still hadnt arrived. I look over the counter a d see the waitress making them, then tasting them, then adding more flavoring or milk, then tasting again WHITH THE SAME SPOON SHE JUST HAD IN HER MOUTH. Now this is just plain disgusting. She delivered the drinks and walked away not saying a word. The one sip of the drink I was brave enough to try didbt taste like the caramel milkshake I was hopeing for, but instead a glass of slightly chilled milk with a tinge of vanilla icecream.<br/>We then continued the wait for our starters. Which finaly came out 40 mins after we sat down. Except only 2/3 came out. They forgot the bowl of chips. Which then came out with the mains 5 mins after we got the starters and didnt have a chance to eat yet. I ordered the Mediterranean bruschetta which would have been lovely os the bread wasnt stale and cold and the lamb was atleast warmed up. Yet it wasnt so the meal was shithouse. My main was a pizza which I asked for anchovies on. They put an intire tin of anchovies on it and it was burnt to a crisp. Also inedable. Now I know some things can go wrong working in hospitality as im a chef myself. But this shit is unforgivable. The restaurant was empty. The front of house staff lacked any sort of hygiene practices amd the chefs pretty much couldnt give a shit. Its not hard to put a little love into the food. Never going back to this shithole. Thanks for making my first adelaide food experience a bad one. Fuckwits.

Perfect night. We read some bad the reviews of this restaurant. We chose a wonderful dip, haloumi and bruschetta was delicious<br/>We had a prawns skewer that melted in the mouth whilst my mezza kabbab was most tasty.<br/>Definitely go back again . Don't trust the bad reviews

Very bad attitude - appalling management. Don't bother they won't answer their phone.. Dreadful attitude - fully booked because of Scoopon sales so they are not answering their phone. Took a personal visit to try and book a table only to find that they are refusing to honor Scoopon vouchers, despite already having already got the money. Awful management and very bad behavior. I will never consider ever giving them any business ever again! At least they could answer the phone and offer a compromise. Don't even bother.

Very Bad. The food was a complete let down. Pizza overcooked and the fristo misso was the worst I ever had - this was by far the worst food we ever had in any restaurant in Adelaide and we will never go back. Service was very average.

Horrible. The food here is horrible. My steak was inedible. It was pure fat. <br/>The manager handled it well offered drinks and more food. But It came out frozen. Again management very apologetic and nice but all in all the food here is really not nice. Don't go here

Worst Meal Ever. Entree, Main & Dessert was absolutely disgusting. Please reconsider before entering here! I have NEVER had such a horrible food experience! There were four other tables at the time we were there also complaining about everything. If anyone else has experienced this please contact me as I wish to take this further.

Excellent. Believe some bad reviews were made when there were previous owners of the cafe. The service was fantastic, they were more than willing to go out of their way for us. The food was delicious with a great range on offer. Definitely go back again!

Past customers seem to be divided as they either loved it or hated it. I’ve actually been to Mediterranean Mezza for an event but didn’t actually try any of their food. One thing in their favour was that the establishment was under new management, so perhaps some of their negative reviews were a thing of the past. Mediterranean Mezza offers a variety of dishes from nearby countries in the region. There is a selection of charcoaled meats, bruschetta, pizza, salads and mains (which are very similar to your pub classics).

Great Night Out. We read with some trepidation the reviews of this restaurant. However last week we decided to try out Mezza Cafe. Upon arrival we were met by a very polite ,friendly and helpful waitress who escorted us to our table and proceeded to explain the menue. We had a Groupon voucher and were informed that BYO was welcome($10). We chose a wonderful dip selection followed by mains. Herself had a steak that melted in the mouth whilst my avocardo chicken dish was most tastey.<br/>I have no hesitation in recommending this cafe to any one who likes good food presented in an atmosphere of middle eastern ambience.

Waste of time. Food was shocking had salt and pepper squid could still taste the water when chewing service was a joke did not understand us the best thing we had there was the garlic bread never again got a meal on the way home

Absolutely amazing. My husband and I went to this café last night and was amazed at the quality of the food and service.. We had a scoupon deal that had expired but the café honoured it anyway,,, Would gladly go back even without a scoupon as the food was undeniably fantastic... Job well done

Good food!. After initial confusion re Groupon voucher and great difficulty in making a reservation due to inability to leave a message when phone not answered, we did enjoy the food. Waiter was happy to listen to our concerns and stated he would look into phone not being answered. This restaurant's food was good but improved service would benefit it greatly.

Unhelpful. Unaccommodating staff, unable to book successfully, left a voice message which they 'don't use' apparently. Won't bother going there.

Slow service - terrible food. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!<br/>After waiting for an hour and a half for the main course the food (lack of) quality just completed a highly disappointing night. The Fritto Misto was supposed to be beer battered Australian flathead, it was was just some greasy frozen triangle shaped piece of fish of some sort, not fresh and not flathead. The salt and pepper squid was not salt and pepper squid either it was frozen grease soaked crumbed squid rings. The 'tiger prawns' again were just 2 of the frozen flattened crumbed supermarket prawns. The crumbed scallops that were supposed to be part of this delightful dish were completely absent.<br/>I could have bought this crap from the supermarket freezer section and done a better job of cooking it.<br/>To top it all off they had Mix 102.3 playing that loudly we could not hear ourselves. I would have sent the food back but we couldn't tolerate staying any longer than we had to.

Average. The decor is sombre but the staff were smiling and I hoped for a wonderful meal. We shared an antipasto platter for entree. The felafels were from a packet and dry. For mains my son ordered a gourmet vegetarian pizza which looked and tasted, he assured me, wonderful. My saltimbocca, however, was highly over-salted and contained alot of fat. Very disappointing.

Great food and service. Really enjoyed the food! Especially liked the chicken wings, kebbe and falafel. The skewer plate was excellent. Service was good too.

Tried the 5 course banquet. First visit to this restaurant.. Booked two days before, and turned up on time at 7 pm. We told the waitress we would have the five course banquet. We were seated and then saw no one come near us.<br/><br/>After 50 minutes went to the counter to enquire after our meal, they were surprised by the order and had not even started our meals. Then after another ten minutes our food started to arrive. <br/>Out of supposedly five courses, we received only one main course, a reasonable chicken dish, with greasy limp chips. The remaining courses were tiny bowls of salad, or dips. <br/><br/>No table water, no drink service, no bread - although garlic bread was apparently a course, <br/>No offer of coffee , in fact we were basically ignored the whole evening.<br/>Terrible service terrible food and long delays. The staff were polite and friendly when approached, but not once did they approach us to offer service. We has to chase. Every step of the way. 2/10. Won't be back.

Don't waste your money. Food terrible. Our food was greasy, tasteless, cold, fish was full of bones and they use products that were obviously purchased from the frozen section from the local shop.dont waste your money. Will never return to this place.

Horrible service! Ordered a salad and received a plate of lettuce... No dressing, no flavour! Just lettuce and they charged about $18 for it. Very disappointing! Never again!

The service here was pretty horrible, given that we were almost the only customers in the restaurant. Maybe we should have specifically ordered Smiles off the menu. Food was as average as the service. Worst restaurant on Melbourne St, given that we were living on Melbourne St itself and have tried most of the restaurants there.

Never go here! Save yourself the money! Crap food and service! Waited a hour and a half for bacon and eggs and a croissant and then it came out wrong! Bacon was stone cold. Basically missing ingredients and not cooked and the place was not even full!

Will never come back. Service was friendly however: entree we ordered 3 dips which was served with pita. The pita was cold where normally they are served warm. The dips tasted like they were a few weeks old with some olive oil drizzled in the middle to keep them from going off. My bruschetta was soggy, the tomatoes tasted like they came from the compost and the pesto was too tangy, perhaps it was off. The boccincini cheese was definitely not fresh. My main was cooked ok. The chicken was moist and the sauce was well seasoned. However my avocado was brown and some pieces were hard thus not ripe enough. The carrots were crunchy like they were dipped in hot water to warm them up giving the impression that they were cooked. The salt and pepper squid was not very appealing and could have done with a few extra minutes in the fryer. The chops seemed to be cooked in old oil with old potatoes. The salad again had old yucky tomatoes.

Went last night for dinner and was pretty upset with how long it took for our meal to be served. A salad and a carbonara penne... One would not think it would take over an hour.... No one bothered to let us know that they were either short staffed or that our meal was going to take longer. The place wasn't super busy which only added to the frustration. No apologies when our meal finally came. Needless to say we did not enjoy it and will not be going back or referring to friends. If anything, I will refer friends not to go there.

Ive just moved into the area of north adelaide an im always on the lookout for new and exciting restaurants to visit. The first time i walked down melbourne st i came across mediterranean mezza. The floor staff came and greeted me at the front and showed me the menu. He was very friendly. I walked in with my girlfriend and sat down. We looked at the menu and found a large variety of meals choose from. I ordered to meat skewer platter and my gf ordered the mushroom risotto as she is vegetarian. The food was great. We both enjoyed large serving of our foods. All in all, the food was great, the price was fair and the service was amazing! Mediterranean mezza is our new regular spot. I recommend it to all!

Came for lunch today with my daughter and wife, we were looking to get the lunch special however it was only from monday to fridays, not weekends, never mind we ordered something of the normal menu, food and wine was good, service was outstanding from the young gentlemen. Not to sure about the shisha bongs though but overall, we will be back

Really liked the whole mezza concept. <br/>Ive never had a shisha before but good to try something different every now and again. <br/>Really nice laid back atmosphere, not stuffy at all. <br/>I see what ppl are saying about some of the blokes, could come off as intimidating but they seemed nice enough to me.

Unsure. The food was reasonable. The table staff were very helpful. <br/><br/>Our group was a little unsure of the menacing men that lurked around the restaurant. Owners, friends or security? Too weird and discomforting.<br/><br/>Its a well located restaurant, but there is something lacking about the ambiance which I cannot put a finger on.

Fresh. Beautiful ingredients! Authentic Lebanese food. I've been here twice and will tell all - come, enjoy!!!

Rough & Ready - a rarity for those looking for boisterous occasion. The food is good and there is room for plenty of people. The room lacks a bit of atmosphere for those seeking an intimate meal, but that is not what Mezza is about. The people running it are pleasant enough. They can get a bit testy with those who do not like what they do or how they do it. They make no pretense about what they do and so their attitude is justified. I recommend Mezza for those not looking for a perfect occasion, but are looking for a bit of freedom for a boisterous occasion.
