Ditched the vegetarian member of the family and headed to The German Club for dinner. Service was fantastic and friendly, atmosphere was great and the food was excellent! My son had been before and told me the schnitzel was the size of his head...I thought he was exaggerating so I ordered a side of chips-big mistake, when the food came, I realised he wasn't joking. We all opted for the Jaeger schnitzel- full of flavour ,tender and juicy meat, crumbs were not oily and the side serves of mashed potatoes and salad were of a very generous size. I wanted to try the desserts but there was no room left...have to go back!

Excellent Food, being German myself, I can't fault any of their German dishes, they are almost as good as my mum's cooking! I go there at least once a month for dinner and I love it! Great atmosphere as well!

Have always had a soft spot for this place and for a good reason! The staff have a lovely nature and the food has improved immensely over the last year.

A good deal is every that is applicable to me is every Thursday night, they offer Uni Students $10 Schnitzels! Crazy cheap for some quality food, you wont get a serving of chips be warned...but you will get amazing potato salad and another side of salad! Ordering a pretzel as an entree and a side of chips to share is a must!

Also the variety of German beers they have on tap and in bottle is amazing. Will return for the food and service :)!

A few weeks ago there was an article in the newspaper that had awarded The German Club with the best schnitzel in Adelaide. We tried to go that night but they were fully booked. Well last night we finally got there, Michele and two of our friends.

There appears to be multiple dining areas, a function room where a birthday party was being celebrated was one but we went to the Club area. There is a bar with a host of German beers available (not being a big beer drinker the range was lost on me but I can see it would be appealing). The dining area was pleasant and had that club feel with club memorabilia on display around the walls.

The menu was extremely limited, apparently the full menu is only available mid week, which was disappointing as the only options were fish or a chicken or pork schnitzel. Found it strange there was not veal. As we were here for the schnitzel it was ok but a side order of wursts would have been good.

I ordered a chicken Jäger Weiner schnitzel which came with a mushroom and bacon creamy gravy which was very good (shame one of our friend's plate come out without the bacon, this was corrected once we brought it to the waiters attention). It came with a creamy mashed potato and a small side salad.

I really enjoyed the schnitzel, it was a good size and well cooked. The chicken was nice and juicy and the crime not greasy which can be an issue. The mash was good and with the mushroom gravy it was excellent on the cold night. The salad was nice and well dressed but on a cold night a vegetable option would be better.

The staff were generally good, the person taking the orders was obviously new and was having troubles taking the orders and had no knowledge of the items on the menu. The bar staff were good and the waiter was good, the waiter took a real interest in how we liked or meals.

In summary, taking into account that this is a club's dining room and not a restaurant the food had a bit of that home cooked feel that was very tasty and a decent sized serve. The staff were good. The decor was as to be expected. The price was excellent. I will return.

We went for dinner last Friday night. Lucky we booked a table as it was packed due to happy hour! Food very basic sausages, schnitzel, sauerkraut etc. but really yum & prices very affordable. Definitely a place to visit with a group & more for the atmosphere & beer!

Simple home style German food. Almost like a canteen as there's no table service. Take a number and wait to be called. GREAT German beers. Good thick beef schnitzels. Love their chips too.

After first being a little confused as to what the dining arrangements are in the German Club, I found the place to be very friendly. The German selection of food are great simple home style meals. As expected the beer is fantastic and unless you specify otherwise you'll have it served to you in a giant pint glass or stein.

Eclectic is a great adjective for this restaurant/bar/club. The walls are completely full of Artefacts from across Germany as well as different German clubs in Australia. Friendly service and a great beer selection. Also enjoyed the German food on offer - the potato pancake was next level!

Interesting place for a meal and a beer. Food quality was above your run of the mill pub fare, with some interesting but sometimes repetative sauces accompanying the courses. Meals were not too large but more than enough to leave you full. Staff efficiency was exceptional, with no fake friendships, so you can concentrate on eating and enjoying the company of those you came with.

Delicious food and delicious beer. Can not complain. Very relaxed setting. Just strange hearing the Aussie accents, could be in Germany ;)

We had dinner here because we had a voucher and I'm so glad we did because the food and service was excellent! We will go back again and again. Very friendly, loved the atmosphere. Pretzel for entree was delicious and my beef goulash was just as I hoped it would be.Next time will try something different. Really enjoyable with the accordian players in the background.

I love this place on a cold Saturday afternoon and enjoy watching the members sitting at the bar and whiling away the afternoon with good food, booze and company. I had a trio of sausage and my friend had a schnitzel and of course we had to have two glasses of wine and two glasses of beer to wash it all down. Left very full, happy and satisfied.

My family is of German origin so going here is like a little piece of Germany! Had the salted pretzel for entree and Trio of sausages with sauerkraut and mash potato for main and it was delicious! And a very good portion size. Beer selection is great and available in steins! Service is friendly and pricing is affordable. Highly recommend! #SCHNELL

Wonderful atmosphere and so much fun. The Club is split over 3 levels, each with something different to offer. Plenty of room to move around. Stairs could be troublesome for some people but mostly the place accommodates for all needs. Love the look and feel of the place on the inside. Looking in from the outside it doesn't look like much but it really is worth the visit.
