Review Mika Airlie - Airlie Beach

I’ve been slowly ticking through all the places in town and this so far is probably my favourite. (Equal favourite to Northerlies) We got there during happy hour so $6 beers. The cocktails were tasty and you can get a big cocktail just for $45. The food was top notch. The salsa verde oysters were out of this world. The mussel tapas were amazing. The wings were absolutely awesome. Overall this place is a must and was completely worth it. Booking is a must because they get booked out daily. Returned again and it didn’t disappoint. Tried a few other things on the menu and popped in at the right time for the $25 wing and 2x 500ml Stella’s. Bargain!

Mika Ali is a good place to dine if you like your grilled meat and diverse selection of cocktail drinks. The edibles were great, the atmosphere is a little too loud but it was negligible due to “ok” soundproofing, however, the quality of service has lots of room for improvement. FOOD: Hands down, the food was great and the drinks were very good. We ordered a meat platter which came with grilled pineapple, chicken wings, pork belly, three different set of steaks flavored: Mustard, Salty and BBQ. The BBQ flavored steak was a little too saucy that it came across quite strong. The guac had a good flavor but the quantity is too small for three people. We also ordered a bowl of melted cheese garlic bread, each slice was at least 2cm thick and was overflowing with cheese and garlic. Despite the small amount of the guacamole, there was more than enough food for three people so we asked for a takeaway container which the wait staff gladly and swiftly brought to us. SERVICE: On their website, it says that their closing time on the night of our visit was 10pm. We walked in just a few minutes before 8pm and we were told that the kitchen closes in just a couple of minutes. We appreciate the subtle prompt so we ordered our food as soon as we could. By 9pm, however, one of the waitresses asked us if she could clear any of our plates, when clearly, we were still eating. Although the waitress tried to ask nicely, we felt rushed. Looking back, when we got in, the place was full. But by 9pm (one hour BEFORE the closing time stipulated on their website), when we looked around, everybody else seemed to have been kicked out so when the waitress hinted by asking if she could clear our plates, we felt pressured to leave. I hope the owner will take note of this review and realize that more revenue could have been made if only the restaurant stayed open for another hour, as stipulated on the website.

Could be easily missed but look at for the colourful stairs leading up to the restaurant. Ended up here with a couple we met on a day sail who ate at Mika the night before and couldn’t rave about it enough. Rightly so. We ordered the Seafood and Surf and turf platter. Huge portions on each. Delicious combinations all round. For drinks - ordered the passion fruit sangria which was refreshing with good portion of fresh fruit too! Give this place a try, you won’t regret it.

Nice staff and great value! We had the lamb shank special which was beautifully cooked and only 22$! Would definitely recommend. The pork ribs were also very nice. They have a very broad menu of food and drinks. Margerita was also tasty. Only wished there was some Latin music in the background! But we still had a great time :)

A good place to chill with a good view and good food. I always come back here everytime I visit Airlie Beach. They have a friendly and very accommodating staff. Give the Mushroom Sauce a try when you order a steak.

Visited for dinner and was not an enjoyable experience. They do not allow for bookings (which could help them plan better for the number of customers they may have). Upon being seated we were told there would be a wait. Tables seated after us recorded their food before we got entree showed a lack of organisation. The sangria was quite refreshing and tasty and quickly served (seperate order at the bar). The wings were nicely flavoured. When we went to counter there wasn’t any interest in asking if we had enjoyed our team or apologies for the long wait time. We asked if the owner could offer perhaps a 10% discount on the total for the wait time or show some kind of empathy for the wait (not getting entrees and lack of communication that they planned to serve all our food together). There seems to be a great lack of organisation at Mika as we were then severed with the incorrect bill (from another table). When we noticed they just seemed very disorganised when the tables had numbers on them. Whilst the food and drinks maybe be okay the customer service is very lacking.

22 of us for dinner...no hassle to this super efficiently run place. Lots of variety on the menu and everyone was happy. Fish tacos, steaks, burritos, fish and chips and a variety of hi ken wings. Delicious cocktail menu as well as the usual beers and wines. Ribs gave everyone else food envy! 😉

Very nice bar with a great selection of good and tasty food… with a Spanish / Latin American bent. The rump steak special with a beer is great value, especially for folks on a budget. Must say, the steak was pretty good . The atmosphere is very positive, everybody is in a good mood. Why not, we are in the Whitsundays ! On another night, I enjoyed the chicken pasta with a beer. Also delicious, and great value. Decor is fantastic, the owners have gone to a lot of trouble. Lots of seating, some overlooking the palm trees toward the Coral Sea. Lovely breeze coming through the open windows .

We were greeted straight away with a smile and were lucky enough to get a table, as it was a full house. We chose the all you can eat option which was very filling. The potatoes and the salad were seasoned beautifully but where was the garlic bread and chimichurri sauce ? Our first bit of meat came out on the stick and it was tough and dry which was a little disappointing, then a small dish with prawns and different meat. The taste of the meat was exceptional the prawns however must have been a bit old as they had that gritty texture to it and they were warm almost boarder line cold. The staff came and went with different sorts of meats always with a smile. Some were a bit dry and flavourless or too salty and some were that spicy you couldn't taste the other flavours or even eat it. Dessert cake as a tiny little lemon meringue with some cream and a 1/4 strawberry. Little disappointed with that, it was off to maccas to get something to fill that sugar craving. It was a great night with having people up and dancing as well the vibe was good too which is what you want on a night out. However, I wouldn't go there again in a hurry though.

Best place in Airlee for food, cocktails and views !! Staff are fabulous and friendly and atmosphere is chilled. Seriously cannot recommend a better place for your evening cocktails or dinner. Thanks to the amazing bar man and to Steph our lovely waitress that looked after us the multiple times we ate and drank here !!

Just had breakfast for the second day in a row and what a treat. Today I took 4 visitors from down south and they were totally impressed with the view and the delicious breakfast choices. The veggie pleaser and the crumbed poached eggs are amazing - 5 stars from our guests! For those who are light eaters, there is also the option of creating your own breakfast by selecting from the $2 -$4 individual choices at the bottom of the menu. Highly recommended . And away from the fumes of passing traffic!

Worst Brazilian bbq i’ve ever had. “All you can eat” as long as it’s chicken wings. We didn’t receive half of the meat promised on the menu. They will try to fill you up on potato’s and garlic bread though! Received one small price of beef that was tough and over cooked. There was no drinks service either. I had to leave my table and go to the bar for all all 6 of us on our table every time we needed a drink. Would not recommend eating here - save your money and go buy a garlic bread from a pizza shop.

Views were beautiful, staff were lovely, the naked chicken my kids had was beautiful, the chicken tenders were ok , the calamari was delicious, the oysters were small and one had a fly in it, which I know can happen, but did get a discount , the pork burger was ok but a bit tasteless , the pork belly was very dry and a bit tough, which was forgotten so got it after everyone else had finished but was offered a drink for the wait

We walked in at 7:30 for dinner and orderd the all you can eat. Out of 13 items listed with a desert on the all you can eat menu we only got 4. Obviously u should get what you pay for. The food was poor for the most part. The manager proceeded to blame us that we didnt get the other foods listed in the buffet, because we didnt order when he wanted. His many apologies didnt seem sincere and we will never be back again.

The service today was amazing and the food divine! Highly recommend the buffalo wings and ribs! The calamari melted in my mouth! The spicy Margarita really hit the spot!

All you can eat is very controlled with small individual serves presented. It's all high carb and protein. The seafood basket is no more than a bit of deep fried seafood and very poorly presented. The drinks are also too overpriced.

We had the all you can eat BBQ at Mika's last night and it was really good and staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend! It's a great experience and you get to try lots of different meats. The sides were also delicious.
