Review Tsuru Sushi Cafe - Albany Creek

So delicious, definitely the best sushi I have had in a long time. It was hard to choose a favourite! Ordered for delivery and was still hot.

The food is first rate Japanese. We ordered take-away on a weekday night. Our order wasn't ready at the suggested time, and we waited 15 minutes at the door. This is only an inconvenience. The only place to wait is the walkway outside the door. Prices are average (cost $100 for 4 meals plus one starter). Overall - great food, but order management could be better.

Beautiful made food and sushi. Very welcoming and hospitable customer service. Would definitely come back here again if my family and I are in the area

Very nice place and food. The service is very good when we visited. My favourite is the Crispy Chicken roll. Must try this place at least once if you like Japanese food.

The only bubble tea in Albany creek and luckily for us it’s good!!! Freshly made pearls great customer service and standard prices for decent serves. Just wish there was more pearls

The staff who took our order were very friendly, however the wait time between meals was so long and multiple times parts of our order were actually forgotten, the staff said this I am not making an assumption. The omurice was good and the soft shell crab sushi wasn’t bad either but the ramen was terrible. I understand this is advertised as a sushi place so we weren’t expecting great things but it’s listed as a specialty in the menu, the broth was flavourless along with the chicken which was rubbery. We didn’t get one of our drinks until we tried the leave so we reminded them for who knows how many times and even then other peoples drink orders were prioritised despite the fact we had ordered ages ago. I have read the owners comments about the effects of covid but it seems lots of the reviews have the same experience as ours (especially with the ramen) even those over a year old, rather than make excuses maybe try to work on the things that aren’t great since I can see this place being really good. Made me wish we read the reviews before coming in.

Quite a nice choice of items in the menu. The service was good and prompt. The food was ok but definitely not in the top Japanese I've had. I wasn't too impressed with my dish, katsudon, which the egg was done over the chicken and made the chicken batter quite soggy.

My boss likes the Matcha Green Tea which is much different than what we had in the city. The Zaru Soba and the sauce are quit good, but I like chewy noolde. And nice waitress to serve the meals. We like the food and atmosphere in this restaurant. Will be back if we pass by Albany Creek. ご苦労さま.

Ordered smoked salmon, teriyaki wagyu beef, 2× tempura prawn, 2× vege tempura. Took 18 minutes for them to make. So naturally, i assumed all would be fresh. I have no doubt that the seaweed and rice are rolled fresh, but the actual insides of the roll? The wagyu beef, thick tendrils of overcooked chunky steak - which would surprise me GREATLY if it was actual *wagyu* and not just some stir fry beef from woolies (further to that - who marinates WAGYU beef??? Sacrilegious.) Tasted sour and bleachy and was tough. Tempura prawns were cold and chewy. Definitely not fresh. Smoked salmon was fine, but really, how can you mess up chucking in some cream cheese and salmon? The tempura vegetable. This is what i waited 18 minutes for apparently because it was still warm. Cabbage and carrot and what kind of tasted like bamboo??? So gross. So unbelievably gross and bland and blehk. So i paid just under $20 and waited just under 20 minutes to eat the salmon and throw the rest out. Should have gone to woolworths and bought salmon for 1/3 of the price. What a waste of time and money.

Just from my first experience. Firstly, when I was ordering I felt rushed, whilst the gentleman in front of me was still saying thank you and grabbing his things, the women at the counter was trying to shout over his shoulder at me even though we were the only ones to order. Then food My chicken Katsudon was terrible The chicken was soggy and under cooked, the bottom of the bowl was filled with juices which made the rice soggy as well and there was no flavour. Keeping in mind, this was my first experience at Tsuru. Just wasn't a very good one.

My whole family loves Tsuru. Our go to place. The crunchy chicken rolls, fried rice with tofu and the chicken teriyaki are our favourites. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

I order a chicken curry, a meal I have order many times before at other place's and had paid around 7.50 -8.50 for for this at this cafe 12.80?? The sauce was watery and i thought it was one of the worst chicken curry's that I have had. If it was good I would have been happy paying a premium but very disappointed.

nicest coffee, smiling service and even gave me a bonus mini cup cake as a nice-crutch gift

I would never eat here again the service was appalling. Out of 6 of us only 5 got our food and no waiter picked up that this had happened. Then couldn't even offer a free beer. And to top off the experience they over charged each of us over $30 and we had to work out on our phone calculators the correct amount for them. Very disappointed.

I had to wait 9 months for sushi because of my pregnant wife. First place we went to in Albany Creek it was worth the wait. Good work guys :)

Fantastic food! Let the chef make up a sushi platter for me. It was fresh and a pure delight to eat. Oh- and the service was wonderful with a big smile....

Soba noodles hardly had any noodles in it. The Udon was so ridiculously salty we couldn't finish it. The curry was bland and served with soggy rice. Told the staff the issues but nothing done about them. Left hungry and frustrated. Not returning.

Love this place!! Amazing menu with lots of variety and the price is very reasonable. Always enjoy going here, service is good and food is served quick.

I love the sushi here and am a regular customer for takeaway, never been disappointed.
However, I absolutely hate eating in as the sushi is served on wooden boards which are all mouldy, obviously from being wet and washed over and over it disgusts me. I've eaten in a few times now to keep finding them the same, so don't think I will again. I really think these should be replaced more often.
Still love the takeaway sushi though!

Tsuru cafe has a really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Traditional japanese food. Very inviting, food is very well presented and tastes amazing.

Love this place, sushi is always made fresh and is hands down the best sushi I have ever eaten. Love the crunchy chicken and avocado. The teriyaki chicken don is always a winner as is the karaage don. Have never left hungry or disappointed.

Tsuru presents well as you enter, with clean and fresh looking decor. After being seated we chose one dish each we eagerly awaited our meals. This is where things slid downhill. Two of received their dishes after 10 or so minutes then two of us received them at 5 minute intervals about 15 minutes after the first two dishes. This resulted in the first two finishing their meals before ours even arrived.

The food itself was quite pleasant with modern presentation and flavour hitting the right notes.

In closing, the long waiting times put a sour note on the whole experience, and the food didn't make up the difference.
Food 5.510 Service 3.5/10 Decor 7/10

Love this restaurant. Beautiful authentic Japanese cuisine and friendly and prompt service. Becoming a staple Friday evening take-away treat. Would highly recommend.

Sushi plates are worth it! let them know which sushies or maki packs you like. it normally comes with seafood but you can let the staff know if you wish to have your own. crunchy chicken rolls are awesome and hand rolls are available all day! also, i understand that all the food are made to order to there is always a wait and i dont normally see a lot of staff like usual so i guess that's also a factor. besides fresh cooked food are worth the wait! will come back

Poor service second time around. I first went to tsuru Albany creek when it first opened and the service was not great but I was ok with that as they were still finding their way. Tonight we were the only table there. After 10 minutes 3 meals came out which was all good. I thought mine was coming but 20 minutes later a tofu Katsu curry was served after I complained as none of the staff had come over to tell me what was happening. Apparently it takes 20 minutes to cut up tofu... Who would have thought. The boy who gave my meal to me couldn't tell me why it takes 20 minutes to cut up some tofu and he chewed his gum rudely in my face. After all this the staff still wanted to charge me for my meal. I have only ever seen the owner once and he was quite nice but his staff need to be retrained and know what to do in this situation. I won't be coming back for quite a while.

Fantastic. The food here was fantastic and the service was excellent. Our drinks were replaced as soon as we finished and the food came out very quickly even on a busy night (Valentine's Day) the soft shell crab was to die for! Will be going back.

Pretty average really. Have been here once before and was fairly underwhelmed, so thought I'd give it another go to be fair. We all have bad days. But unfortunately, turns out the first visit wasn't a once off. Last night was pretty average. We had the miso eggplant which was quite good, nicely cooked with a subtle balance of miso. But the rest was very disappointing. The takoyaki tasted like frozen reheats, just soggy really. We also ordered two platters to share. The Sashimi platter had just ok salmon and kingfish (maybe?) but the tuna was terrible. It had a strange gritty, almost powdery texture, and no flavour. The Sushi platter was heavily padded out with tinned tuna sushi rolls (not even any avocado!) and a cream cheese + salmon roll that was mostly just cream cheese. This place is more of a lunchtime sushi roll place than a Japanese restaurant/cafe.

Disappointing service. We booked a table for Friday night, we were seated and then totally ignored for the next 30 minutes. We watched other people came in after us get their drinks and meals ordered and served, while we were still waiting for someone to acknowledge our presence with some water. We ended up leaving and on the way out we told the waitress why we were going, I don't think she even knew what we were talking about.

The meals are so lovely! Have great taste and the Staff are super friendly. Only down fall is waiting for you meal.

Worst lunch experience at Japanese restaurant. 1 The green tea was not green. Later found out it was Chinese green tea not Japanese.
2 We were the first customer to order meals but last to be served. Not Japanese service at all.
50 minutes wait for our main meal.
3 Main meals were soaked with sauce and only tasted it.
It was most unhappy experience there today.
We will never go back to any of Tsuru café.

Great food and service. First time here and was impressed. Not the best Sashimi but won't judge that on just one visit. The Soft Shell Crab, just fabulous, best I've ever had anywhere in the world including Japan. The Pork Belly was excellent....... I could go on but you get my drift, a little gem, great value and am going back for lunch today.

Excellent first time visit. My 11 year old son had been asking me for a few days if I could take him to try Sushi as he'd never been interested in eating it before. I took him to Tsuru at Albany Creek and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating i.e leaving out the Avocado for my son. The prices are a little on the expensive side but the quality, presentation and taste made it totally worth it with generous portions. Very clean little place with a great atmosphere, we sat outside tonight and enjoyed the cool night are. Was a huge winner with my son who's first impressions of Sushi were fun and yummy. We will definitely be back!

Took my mum and 4 year old son to dinner for mums birthday. I can see that the staff are still finding their feet after only having opened but I thought everything was really great. We dined quite early and our food arrived promptly but I could see quite a few people waiting. The gyoza were great as we're our mains of chicken teriyaki and wagyu teriyaki. My seasoned sushi eating son :) gave the the thumbs up to his tuna salad sushi. Think it's great something like tsuru has opened in these parts - we need more good food choices. Looking forward to the next visit.

Was so excited to see this restaurant in Albany Creek. Great ambiance and service . Friendly and best omelette we have ever eaten . The pork pancake was delicious . Large serves . Only one peice of advise , change your clothes used to wipe the tables as they are leaving bad odours . Will be back.
