Review Gourmandise & Co - Albany

Lovely decor and nice staff. The food was lovely and thoughtful, although the quiche could have used some more seasoning. The basket with a selection of pastries was delicious. The coffee was good but not the best. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Absolutely surpassed our expectation! Beautiful coffee, delicious pastry, and near to perfection presentation! This one is a must visit in Albany.

What an absolute gem for breakfast in Albany! Prepare to be transported to the heart of France with this cosy and beautifully decorated cafe. I had the spiced rice/porridge which was so satisfying and filling. My husband had the baked eggs which were cooked to perfection. We couldn't resist getting some pastries to take away which were also delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly with prompt service. We'll have to return as there were so many other things we wanted to try. Highly recommend!

Amazing French bakery!! The croissant, coffee, quiche and blueberry/almond tart were absolutely wonderful! Super friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend this place 😍

Like stepping into another world, genuine French Patisserie and quite literally the definition of fine and comforting cuisine. I thought the concept of having food bring you flashbacks of your childhood was a bit far fetched... until I came here. Every single bakery within a 500km radius can't even live in the shadow of Gourmandise, honestly. This is not a place you will find mass produced, oversweetened, empty calories. Everything is good. I mean everything. Order whatever and it will hit you with a pang of nostalgia, perfectly balanced flavours and textures. Lovely friendly staff with a relaxed but efficient vibe. I can't recommend them enough. They are always busy for a reason!

A must go too. Little piece of France in downtown Albany. Cakes a little pricey, but do taste amazing. Croissant was exceptional.

It is highly recommended for the lovers of French breakfast delights. We enjoyed the salmon quiche and a basket of croissants, served with butter and jam.

The quality of the pastries here is outstanding. I was lucky enough to get in early today and had the apple tart tatin. One of the best I've ever had and I must admit I've tried way too many in my time đŸ˜…đŸ€Ł The service was friendly and I also had a few of their other sweet pastries on the other days I was here. Highly recommend trying out this place.

My Quiche Lorraine was the best I have ever had. My partner has baked eggs and they were delicious too. The coffee machine threatened to be broken but thankfully came to life and produced tasty cappuccino.

Fantastic French Bakery and Cafe in the heart of Albany. Very friendly staff, and quick service even though the place was packed. We ordered a double serving of Toulouse, which was absolutely delicious! Would recommend a visit for anyone passing through Albany!

Had a lovely simple breakfast of tea, croissants, butter and jam but it was so good. The croissant was the best I've tasted and the service was great. Even had a free little pastry thrown in. Really tasty, will definitely be back.

Cannot rate this lil gem enough! Not a huge menu, but what is available is quality. In fact, French quality in Albany.
Fresh ingredients, delicate and scrumptious!
Please do yourself a favour and visit this cafe. Staff are very accommodating.

The food quality & atmosphere are fantastic. We particularly love their croissants as they are crispy even in takeaway and served in cold. Onion soup is also fantastic. Love this place.

A warm and welcoming cafe with excellent food and the coffee is great too. Food is of such a high quality, it turns over quickly so visit early to get the best choices. The deli and gifts looks good too. Can't wait to visit again.

The most delicious, light, fluffy, crumbly croissants, served warm with tasty jam. My mum commented that it was the best croissant she's had outside of France. Coffee was incredible also. Hot and perfect. Fabulous for breakfast. Lovely, friendly service in a beautiful a little store. This place is a little treasure. ❀

Felt like myself was in a French countryside bakery's shop instead I almost forgotten I was in Australia.
Beautiful french's family business. Lovely country style setting and delicious breakfast. I ordered baked eggs with salmon and long black, and Salmon quiche on the second day. The food presentation is lovely and tasty, the salmon is fresh and the bread just nice by itself. Coffee is hot and aromatic.
Not to mention the prices are fair.
Just love everything in here, wish I could spend more days in this town to enjoy this.

A nice example of the diversity that is Albany. Conveniant and friendly. The decor and atmosphere are considered and polite. Well worth a visit. Especially for the quiches

Coffee Aromas smouldering bakery smells overlooking Albany harbor and entertainment center. Bustling with breaky types. Some gaelic voices from the kitchen. Eggs with salmon at $16. Ouef french style. Came in a little casserole with mushrooms and cheese melt. Suitable for dunking crusty brown french breads. Croissants served in baskets. Buttery. Mochas and lattes were served. The quiches were baked in Parisian sizes. Topped with crispy grilled cheese. The citron tart was delicate and sharp to taste at $8. Giant servings of croissants, goey cheese and thick cut bacon for $12.5. Breaky aficionados melt your cheesy eggy heart out if u get here.

An excellent place for breakfast while in Albany. The individual quiches are the most photogenic I've come across, and tasty too. They are keenly priced - at $10. Even more generous is the patisserie basket for $11.50 - though admittedly they've added a few bonus pastries for our delectation. The Baguettes are made on site and have that convincing blend of external crunch and internal chewiness.

Albany has something very special in what owner operators Janette and Xavier have created with Gormandise & Co, unrestrained enjoyment of fine foods!
We walked in to door to catch French chef Xavier casting culinary spells with a traditional wood fired oven, and Janette maĂźtre d' front of house like an conductor.
We took home a wood fire backed sourdough loaf, after enjoyed some stunning food.

We can't stop reminiscing about this amazing place! Quiche and baked eggs were absolutely spot on and presentation was perfect. Coffees were also great, just the right temperature. Couldn't leave without buying some local milk but wish we'd brought more. Highly recommended!

When you walk into a French cafe and it smells of butter and coffee, you know you're onto a winner. Cosy and inviting with baskets of breads and pastries at the counter; a display cabinet of French cheese and other goodies, including the delicious quiches with wonderfully crisp pastry. This place is amazing!

An absolute gem of a find. Gourmandise and Co would be impressive in any city in Australia, never mind little old Albany. Our family of four spent a total of $70 on a very good lunch. Escargot in garlic butter, pumpkin soup, pork rillettes and a croques monsieur - all gorgeous and generous. This is simple French food prepared with love and skill.

Gourmandise is a quintessentially French delicatessen that has taken a different approach on the cliché individual table and chair arrangements seen in most cafés, instead opting for a communal "size does matter" wooden table centred in the room between a pair of bulky wooden pillars. Depending on your temperament you may find the communal table almost invasive, so for those introverted individuals or more-intimate conversations there's also a small recess at the far end of the room with a few stools, or you could even brave the weather on the stools out the front as we did.

On a daily basis, the menu has its standard affair of soup, sandwiches, tarts/quiches, cakes, cheeses, and what I consider to be the piĂšce de rĂ©sistance: escargot. If you were to ask me what first comes to mind when I think of Gourmandise, it would be those succulent baked garlic & herb escargot served with slices of baguette to not only scoop them up, but to also soak up the delicious melted garlic & herb butter. New this visit, you can now buy similarly-prepared escargot to take home and bake yourself – something I’ll definitely try next trip to Albany.

Every so often you’ll also find some supplementary items on the menu; when we visited last, the chef had taken full advantage of the truffle season being in full-swing and added a mushroom & truffle risotto. Having the chef come out to where we were seated to grate the truffle atop the risotto was a nice touch. As with everything else we've tried at Gourmandise, the risotto was impossible to fault.

Wonderful ambience, lovely staff. I've enjoyed lunch a couple of times at Gourmandise and can thoroughly recommend it. If you love French style food, you'll enjoy the eating experience.
I love the idea of the large shared table. Servings are large and the little extras on the side make for a delicious addition to the meal.
The waitress is delightful.

... there was an attention to detail and a concerted effort to do things the right way that you so rarely see in casual cafe-level establishments. This is what made what could have been a lowly ham and cheese toastie a great Croque Monsieur, an Escargot Scroll as good as something you'd find in France and the Normandie-style Escargot so delicious that I can still vividly remember how it tasted weeks after our meal. Albany has been a bit of a culinary black hole for us during previous visits, but we are glad to say we found a real gem in Gourmandise & Co. Definitely worth repeated visits.

The French couple who run the place are really warm and friendly, it’s like you’re being welcomed into their home. I loved the pastry of the quiches and the fillings (bacon & cheese, smoked salmon & avocado) plus the other sweet pastries I picked up. Yum!
