Review Frederick's Cafe - Albany

Had some toasties and they were decent. The chips were really good! At least the barista was cute! And he really knows how to make coffee, it was delicious and properly prepared, didn't burn the oat milk

Quite a disappointing start to our holiday! We paid almost $100 for breakfast for 4 people just to be disappointed. It took 25 minutes for it to be served in a non busy hour. The eggs on the Benedict were overcooked, the sauce tasted sour and had to ask for the elements like maypole syrup be served with what presented on the menu. The fresh juice was only commendable. I do not recommend it. 😞

Food and drinks are standard nothing stands out. 3 stars as they don't have toilet facilities. My son did not like how the pancake was made, a little bit bitter.

Very pleasant staff and service. The breakfasts were quite well made. Gypsy Eggs (a spin on Shakshuka) has a sweeter gravy with a little bit of vinegar, my wife had the vegetarian, it would probably be better with the chorizo. I had the eggs benedict with bacon which was cooked well, served on English muffin. The Hollandaise sauce has a bit of sweetness to it which is pleasant. Unfortunately all the tables were wiped with a cloth which had a strong egg smell which was a bit nauseating. My wife had a decaf mocha which had a level of chocolate which was not overpowering the coffee however the milk temperature was a bit too high to drink. The macchiato I ordered was a bit under-extracted. It might be that the barista was still dialling in the beans. I think both could be improved with an upgraded grinder and dialling in espresso just before the morning crowd. Otherwise quite a pleasant cafe and some pleasant music.

Not much displays selection and ask for mug which looks like cup plus long wait for food. Still happy with coffee and very friendly staff.

Coffee and hummingbird cake to start the day off right. Delicious and fast friendly efficient service. Sat in the outside undercover patio area , watching the main street morning unfold.

It was really great they had a heater on the closed in verandah outside. However the area for tables had a 20com drop off to another level of the pavement and the chairs were right on the edge of this. Not safe. I was watching an elderly lady trying to set herself down on the edge. She only had to step back a couple of inches and she'd have toppled over. Then the coffee wasn't hot and my husband ordered extra hot and it was still only just warm. When the food came the couple who ordered with us were given there's about ten minutes before ours, instead of us all having our meal roughly about the same time, and we had actually ordered ours before them. When mine finally came out, I pulled out a great big long black hair. Certainly wasn't mine. So, not a good experience. 😕 sorry folks, I don't usually have bad experiences out but sadly this was. Sorry for the bad review.

Nice cafe with street front seats. Food was good but a bit overpriced for the portion size.

Fredericks catered for our staff Christmas party on Thursday evening and were absolutely incredible. We had about 40 people and the food was outstanding as was the service and presentation. I can't recommend them highly enough if you are looking for high quality catering. It was so wonderful to see delicious gluten free and vegetarian options included. Thanks to Sam and staff for such fabulous service!

Fredericks went above and beyond for us! They made a dish that was no longer on their menu for my husbands birthday and it was absolutely delicious! Cannot recommend them enough 🙌

Yum yum yum. Shared a Rueben sandwich with Mum and it was delish. Made with real corned beef and chips were amazing. So crispy.

Today I didn't have any food in the house to make for my lunch so I decided to give the new Nosh Pot a go...absolutely delish! Chicken and kale strogonoff with zucchini noodles and papardelle, oh my word! Delivered to my work, hot, fresh, tasty and really hit the spot on a cold day like today

Went for a late breakfast. Hubby had a breakfast bagel which was yummy (apparently, but I didn't get a taste as it was too nice to share). I had the mushrooms on toast with goats cheese, spinach (and truffle oil I think). Was absolutely delicious. Tastiest breakfast I've had in a long time. Awesome coffees too. Couldn't fault it.

Friendly service and great food. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend Fredericks wholeheartedly.

Just enjoyed the most delicious asparagus benny with gf bread and an almond milk flat white. So happy to find another place providing alternatives to cows milk and soy milk. Love the vibe.

Had breakfast here before heading back to Perth. Most impressive. As someone who works in the hospitality industry I was blown away by the service, quality of food and the coffee was also excellent. Will definitely go back there. Keep it up

Called in for breakfast and coffee before heading home to Perth. My we and I had scrambled eggs on toast with a side of bacon and hash browns. Nice to feel that the plates had been pre warmed so our food stayed warm on the cold morning. The only complaint is that our coffees were not very hot. Definitely not heated to 65deg C but was still nice.

Had a beautiful breakfast and took home some lovely cakes , everything was fresh and tasty and the Coconut, lemon sponge was a bit of a hit with the teenage sons 😋 No trouble recommending to friends travelling to Albany ...

Found Fredrick’s on our last day in Albany, and very happy we did! Wonderful smiles to greet us and quick service. Awesome coffee, wish we’d found this gem sooner!

Great location in city centre. Food (breakfast) was awesome -only reason we took a star off was because coffee was only just warm when brought to table.
Leanne Baker

Best breakfast café in Albany by far!

After a week of good, but simple breakfasts, it was nice to eat something that felt a little more Melbourne or Fremantle-esque; a little more modern and creative. I had the mixed mushrooms on sourdough toast with kale, avocado, hummus, dukkah and chilli oil. It was absolutely delicious! My partner had the housemade baked beans with pulled lamb, an egg and polenta chips to dip in, and he said he really enjoyed it.

Service was also friendly and prompt. The café blinds in the alfresco area kept the chill off us while we ate. All in all, a pretty perfect breakfast.

Quick and easy lunch on the day with the pumpkin soup and coffee to help out with the cold day. The pumpkin soup was quite yummy and portion is generous, perhaps this is why i may need more sliced bread for the soup since they’re quite substantial. The coffee is okay although this time it has a little bit of an aftertaste to it. Otherwise, the service was very nice indeed!
Food For Thought..
Not too bad but pretty expensive for eggs Benny with 2 eggs on one piece of toast for $21. Great service and friendly staff..seems popular with people and was recommended by a friend. The coffee was very nice but serving size put me off unfortunately and the price.

A very nice cafe, with a good atmosphere! Food was delicious, especially the crispy chips with truffle aioli and the delightful sweets at the counter! Coffee was great! Very efficient and friendly staff 👍

This place is freaking amazing!! Soo glad we stumbled across. Food is amazing. Service is lovely. Nothing was too difficult. Just amazing. Massive portions also! So good!!

The service is very friendly. The food is good and you get a decent serving. The coffee is nice. The heaters in the outdoor area are a plus.

Tried the latte here and was positively surprised they use 5 senses beans. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't the best. Not sure if they don't use a very creamy milk or there wasn't enough beans but it lacked the strength. The place has some good reviews so it might possibly be just a glitch.

Just been to ANZAC center Mt Clarence & followed Capt Shout who was awarded a VC in WW1. Had lunch in this main street cafe. Steak sandwiches, cuban panini, beef burgers and chocolate milk shakes. We sat on the main st under their pergola. The steak was tender and bread fresh. The maverick burger curry spicy. The panini was cubanlicious woth chicken and cheese. The beef burger was good value at $10.5. The crunchy chips were delicious despite the calorie counters on the table. Was $85 for 5 of us but we only ordered 4 meals.as the chips were fulfilled all the gaps in our Anzac emptied stomachs.

Four of us had a sandwich lunch here near closing time - very friendly staff and prompt service but the sandwiches were expensive for what was pretty average food. This was our first day in Albany and we found the other cafes & restaurants we ate in we're much better value than this one. There are also no toilets - the nearest ones are a block away - inconvenient.

A good measure of a café is by its poached eggs and hollandaise, and suffice to say Frederick's Cafe nails them both - just take a look at the ooze of the yolk, at the consistency of the sauce. As traditional as they may be, a couple slices of toasted sourdough would have been great instead of the English muffins, but certainly no complaints regardless!

Today's breakfast special was a creamy, weather-appropriate porridge with rhubarb and apple compote, topped with flaked almonds and coconut that could warm even the coldest of patrons. If you're still not warm enough afterwards, the blankets available out front and the gas heaters will surely do the trick!

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. Great coffee, maybe not as strong as I'd like, but the quality overrode that. The half serve breakfasts are the perfect size, the eggs benedict was very tasty, great hollandaise sauce. The muesli was perfectly toasted to a golden colour, and visually appealing with sepearate servings of berries, yoghurt and milk. It too was delicious. Kudos to the single chef handling the breakfast rush, an impressive feat!

Dined in for lunch on the 29/1/2016 - had the salad with beans greens and chicken in mustard sauce however for a $20 meal there was barely any chicken provided. Overall the service was good.

Great coffee and service!. Had poached eggs on turkish bread for breakie here one morning whilst in Albany on a work trip. The coffee was great and the turkish bread was delish, the poached eggs were on the ahrd-boiled side unfortunately but still yum. A quick mention about service, since a lot of people have reviewed it poorly, I had fantastic service with a pleasant greeting and good timing.

Overpriced under Staffed. We Ordered bacon and poached eggs which was nearly small enough to be a kids breakfast. Not only was it a tiny size portion we had to wait 45mins.We got our coffees in first 10mins so was finished them when breakfast finally arrived.

Rude rude rude. Went for breakfast with my husband. Enjoyed the food ordered tea and coffee. Waited 40mins for coffee reminded the waitress who never returned to us. Had finished our meal a further 10 minutes passed went into ask for it again and was informed they were under staffed and delayed this I understand but people after us had ordered and been served. Loudly I was informed to take a refund or wait. Needless to say I took the refund. I am apalled by the attitude she also again loudly and very sarcastically thanked me for my patients. Go to York street cafe for your food, coffee and service.

A fantastic edition!. My parents are locals in Albany and they recommended we try here for brunch. The new refurbishments were lovely and matched by outstanding service, coffee and food. For example, the coffee (which was excellent) was at my table by the time I finished paying at the counter. I could not recommend this place highly enough!

We shared a warm toastie of corned beef, Russian salad oil dressing and cheese. A choice of chips or salad came with meal, we went with the salad. I used to eat corned beef sandwiches with yellow mustard dressing and pickles at my Nanna’s home all the time as a child, I haven’t seen it since until today! Corned beef is basically beef cured in a brine solution and slowly simmered for over an hour. It is a method of preserving beef and the result is a lovely salty flavour. Our toastie was delicious and the dressing and cheese with the salty beef was very yummy. The shredded salad finished it all off nicely. Corned Beef Toastie Urbanspoon reviews
