Review The Alkaline Cafe - Albany

Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. Nice little shop too. Yes, it's expensive and in small portions, but it is very wholesome, healthy food so priced accordingly. My only disappointment is that they offer dairy milk with coffee which I don't understand since they say "everything is vegan". And apparently they charge $1 for non-dairy milk (see review before me)? It would be awesome if they were 100% free of animal products so that vegans can support this business without supporting animal exploitation.

The portion sizes are too small for its cost, and the food isn't particularly tasty, especially considering the cost. The food was quite pleasing to look at however, and the cafe had a very beautiful atmosphere. Go if you highly value aesthetics and vibes, and you're fine with paying $22+ for flowers on your food.

Quirky café with gluten free and vegan food. The ambience is lovely! Enjoyed brunch at this café. The phish and chips were my favourite ❤️ Highly recommended 👍🏻

Great pancakes and hot drinks. So good that we came again the next day for the vegan Reuben sandwich and a muffin - which were also delightfully delectable. The staff were also happy to change one of the smoothies for us on the fly while they were obviously quite busy. We tried a few other vegan places in Albany and they were not great. Alkaline is doing a great service in catering to the plant based travellers and locals.

Edit: If you are having so much trouble staying in business why would you reject customers because they were 7 minutes late (through no fault of their own) but due to your lack of proper advertising of closing times online? Beggars belief. With all your "staff issues and working around the clock" bleating you seem to have plenty of time for a sarcastic response. Keep ignoring the facts and content of the review which will be great for your business. For the record my friend was speechless and embarrassed when I told him! Inflexible and False advertising! Being vegetarian and gluten free we were excited to discover there was a Cafe dedicated to our dietary needs when we arrived in Albany. So my wife and I decided to have lunch here a few days ago to celebrate my birthday. Advertising said closes at 3 pm so we got there at 1.37 pm to to be told that the Kitchen closed at 1.30 pm and they couldn't take our order! It was also recommended by a friend whose daughter is the owner of this Cafe! Won't be back.

This is by far my favourite cafe in Albany. It's a magical oasis of vitality. I'm vegan, gluten free, and love real food. This is the only cafe I can walk into and order whatever I like off the menu, without having to worry about how it's made. Jodi and Andrew have done a fabulous job with this place. Of course, I'm a regular.

For anyone gluten-free, dairy free or paleo who enjoys a cuppa and cake then the alkaline cafe is the place for you. As you have a wide selection of cakes to chose from than only one or two at other cafes and for those who are dairy free alkaline’s house made nut milks are so good better than soy. I always really enjoy my Saturday morning tea time at the alkaline as the staff are really friendly and being paleo not limited for cake choices that’s why I am regular customer.

Alkaline is my favorite cafe...I have enjoyed everything I have eaten there and appreciate the wide choice of healthy, beautifully presented food. The staff are friendly helpful and happy. I always suggest and recommend Alkaline!!

We went as a group and I wanted coffee and cake, there were no options for nut allergies, not one thing out of their huge range of gorgeous looking cakes. The high chair was awkward to put together and was filthy, I asked for something to clean it and was offered a napkin. I finally was given some spray and a cloth to do it myself. I asked for sweetener in my coffee, then when it arrived I wanted another one to which they replied ‘oh wasn’t that sweet enough?’ Then given a huge container of stevia to take to my table None of the staff smiled, I felt like I wasn’t welcome even though I was a paying customer! It’s very rare that I’d leave negative feedback (this is possibly the first time). I won’t be going back!

Wow I feel like we just hit the jackpot finding this place!! If you're into clean eating, gluten free, diary free, wholefood, this is the place to be! So tasty and leaves you feeling great 🙌

I must commend the staff for their grace under pressure today while they were short staffed. My children think Alkaline has the best dairy free hot chocolates in town!

What a great find in Albany! I have a lactose intolerance and my wife is a celiac so we will b regulars! The menu is fantastic n the coffee was great! A nice atmosphere with great service. I will b back every Saturday for my fix. Thanks guys.
