Review Three Anchors - Albany

Dianne Hyder
Great location for a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Service was good, food a little more on the expensive side but was nice. Would come again.

After eating an appalling fish and chips dinner elsewhere the night before, it was a welcome treat to find 3 Anchors. Situated on the beach with a massive playground out front, the food and service were brilliant. The kids meals were tasty, well presented and well priced. The ability to turn anything, including fire engines, fanta and sprite, into a spider was enthusiastically welcomed. The steak sandwich was excellent. The crisp chips had a hint of rosemary, the meat was perfectly cooked accompanied by a delicious relish. The range of beers and ciders on tap complimented the meal well.

A lovely beach cafe right next to the boardwalk and opposite a large kids playground. Ordering is simple as you can do it right through your phone and service time was reasonable, given how busy they were. We ordered the eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns (highly recommended!) and also the waffles. Nice food and good coffee - pairs well just after a walk along the boardwalk and up to the lookout.

Pretty disappointed with our take away order. Ordered the gnocchi and was pretty disappointing to see that the portion size is smaller than a kid's meal. Definitely not worth the $20 I spent. Not sure if it was a mistake or not but if it is not don't recommend the gnocchi on the take away menu.

We had breakfast twice and dinner once and everything was delicious! The waffles are 10/10! Crispy on the outside and soft & delicious on the inside. 10 of us went for dinner last night and everyone loved their meal and not a scrap was left. Gnocci, pasta, lamb, fish and chips- all fantastic. Nice deserts and great service by lovely, helpful staff on every visit. Well done to the team at three anchors. Thankyou!

I ordered fish and chips, pork belly and arancini. Fish and chips and arancini were great. I loved it. But the pork belly was terrible. It was smelly and hard to chew. If you wanna come this place, please do not order pork belly. I was little bit disappointed it.

Great food, art work on a plate as well as tasting fabulous and very gourmet. Friendly staff, busy and good atmosphere, good vibes.

Had a hot chocolate and a brownie for morning tea the fire was lit and the place was lovely and cosy we had two Princess Anne chairs and a view of the bay

Great coffee, delicious food, friendly staff, sensational view and kid friendly. Highly recommend😊

We were in Albany for the weekend. Breakfast was great, coffee was really good and quick service. The down side for us was we had dinner and we ordered the chilli mussels and chilli prawn hit pot. The prawns didn't have any taste and the chilli mussels were on a plate with thick tomato sauce, not like it should be for dipping bread into, these should be in a deep bowl with a liquid sauce..maybe we just picked two not so good meals on the night. If we are in Albany again I would definately go there again, just maybe not for dinner 🖒

After the service or lack of we recieved on the kiosk side, i dont feel the place is even worthy of the one star, had to wait over half an hour for 2 burgers and a large chips to then only be given one burger and the chips, have to sit and wait again for them to make another burger to then be told I was not charged for it, no replacement offered. This place is way over priced and I will not be wasting my time or money here again.

Went for lunch yesterday, food was pretty average, good friendly service, coldest beer I've had in a bar for ever ... honest ... the beer was bloody cold!
Emma Rixom
Always happy to pay good prices for food but this was horrible food chilli muscles where in like a thick sauce nothing like chilli muscles you usually get it was so bland would have preferred to order dominoes if your after a nice well cooked dinner from a restaurant do not go here

Ive just had lunch at three anchors regularly go there with my daughters. Each meal has been smaller and they have changed the ingredients. We also waited 45 mins which was the longest we have ever waited, not busy. The food tasted terrible. Service was unfriendly. Very dissappointed
Cheryl Dorazio
Went for breakfast found the meals were great coffee was good and the service was friendly. I'd recommend it

Travelled in from Mt Barker to have lunch here after having a great experience year's ago the food and service was excellent. Don't know what has happened since but the quality of food and customer service has gone down hill. Waited 10 mins for a simple beer and it wasn't even busy.

A great coffee shop and cafe at the beach. The playground is great for the kiddies as you eat and enjoy the sun. The only thing I dislike is some nights there is live music and the volume at times is overbearing and can not hear ourselves speak. Last time I left could not take the noise.
Jocelyn Butler
Very busy for a monday night. Attentive waitstaff. $10 mohitos on mondays and they were great. ďż˝ Our meals were good size and were brought out quickly even tho it was busy. Great family friendly place. There was live music there on the sunday night when we popped in for coffee and cake.
Karen Campbell
Thanks guys for a wonderful evening Saturday nite. Fabulous attentive service, amazing food, simply awesome. Had been there to meet with friends for coffee for the first time two weeks ago and so glad we went there for dinner, will definitely be back on my next visit to Albany, huge kudos to your kitchen staff, and btw, that Eskimo pie, just divine and to die for!! Perfect finale to a great night out.

Bit disappointing on a few things, sent a nice message to let them know I wasn't that impressed with the meal I had, got no response which I think was a bit rude Staff are lovely, but it puts me off spending my money there again

Well..... One of our highlights of our WA trip. The pot of tea for 2 was a bit on the skimpy side but the MEAL... OMG.. we chose the plater for 2 and it was absolutely laden with food. Certainly enough for 2 people. And the Exmouth prawns (which we have become very fond of) were delicious! Would definitely return next time in WA..

Crusin Gemz were playing tonight. Great drinking/eating music. Food was great. I had fish of the day and it was spot on. Great atmosphere for a Sunday session
Melissa Baker
We were here on Easter Saturday and it was understandably busy however the long wait wasn't worth it. The Eggs Benny we ordered was served with soggy muffins, extra salty bacon and bottled hollandaise sauce.

Have been to three anchors many times before and have loved it, tonight we had a yummy meal but waited for over an hour for our main meals, once we received our meals one order was wrong, curry was meant to come with papudums but didnt and steak tasted like it hadnt been fully defrosted before cooking. Everyone was happy wifh the flavour of their meals though and the restaurant was quite busy. We then ordered coffees which never arrived, didnt pay for them so all good.

First but not last time I came for dinner! Really yummy, lovely life entertainment in the background, kids meals delicious and decent sized and given as much thought as the grown ups food ďż˝
Cornel Scheibling
Interesting menu with good happy hour prices - staff are very friendly and helpful - superb location to watch the waves over a beer.
Red Bean
The pea falafel entree is fabulous. Steak sandwich and calamari (entree) were both alright but the absolute standout was the falafel dish with beetroot hummus and hot sauce. Food came out relatively quickly despite the crowd and bonus points for having a playground right outside for kids to play. Service was also friendly. No complaints here. Will return.

Nice pub and restaurant overlooking the beach. Good service and nice food. It’s always reliable. Yummy steak sandwich . Decent steak still pink in the middle .
Alex Strickland
The flavours of the food were all very nice. I had the duck breast, which was cooked beautifully, but there just wasn't enough of it, and it was overpowered by too much beetroot on the plate. My partner went for the squid - again, he said it was cooked perfectly but there wasn't enough of it to be a main meal. He finished way before me and was left quite hungry.

Unfortunately the service really let it down. By the end of the meal (8.30 pm) we were only one of two parties in. In that situation, the service really shouldn't have been as slow and half-hearted as it was. One server asked if everything was okay *as she was walking past us.* We felt like a bit of an inconvenience to them.

It was reasonably priced - $110 for a shared starter, two mains, a shared dessert and two rounds of drinks. That being said, I don't think I'll be returning next time I'm in Albany.

Great place for a shared meal. The shared platter was enough for 3 hungry adults. It’s right on Middleton beach and the view was beautiful. Everything on the platter was delicious! Our little one also got the chance to go play outside- there is a playground in front of Three Anchors. Would totally recommend anyone to go and would love to go back and try more from their menu. Staff were so friendly and very willing to explain what’s on the menu.
TimInMelb
Went here with 5 other people. Good quality food here, apart fron one steak which was too chewy to the point that it was inedible. The staff there were friendly and accommodating though.
STCC
Great location right on Middleton Beach, best to grab a table with a view of the beach if you can! Playground just outside for the kids to play. Food is delicious and friendly service!

It was a bit of a hit and miss for us. We went out for dinner as a family and two out of the three meals were cold. We informed staff of this and received our money back for those meals with no issues. They were also very apologetic which made up for the cold meals.
Shoey Kay
The food was really nice, but not wow. It didn’t quite live up to the menu description, but it was definitely enjoyable.
It was well priced, tasty, and showcased local produce. Generous portions, great flavours, attentive service.
Perfect for a date night during the weekdays.
Perth Foody
Great Christmas day lunch. Staff attentive and food delicious. Highly recommend the platter for two and ask for a inside table near the window that overlooks the beach

The waitstaff were good; there was someone who was obviously relatively new, and he did well, even immediately checking with the kitchen when I asked if I could remove something from a dish, and telling us that our cheese plate was delayed because it went through as a main (it was on the specials menu as an entree). There were a couple of tables who didn't seem to have any manners (or know how to pronounce 'espresso'), and the waitstaff dealing with them maintained a pleasant demeanour.
The bread was very good, as was the cheese plate, especially with the honey. The cheese was a little bland on its own, unless you had it in a larger quantity at a time.
The pork belly was great, though pretty chewy, and I had to try to inconspicuously pick it from my teeth for longer than I would have liked. My partner enjoyed his chicken burger and chips, though thinks the burger could have done with a bit more flavouring.
The Cookie Monster cocktail was delicious, but there was some dripping down the outside of the glass when I received it that ended up forming a slight puddle before I wiped it up.
The vegan cake was fine; a bit chewy. The coffee was nice.
The eskimo bar dessert was wonderful, and a bit different. Unfortunately I was too full to finish it, which is a mistake I will not make next time. The outside area looks pretty, and I bet is popular during the warmer months.
The only negatives were that the prices were on the expensive side (though closer to average for the area) and there was quite a wait for the mains.
Sally Yap
Had a very unpleasant breakfast there, food quality was very average, coffee was bad, one of the waitresses knew what we want but tried to over charge us twice by manipulating the extra add-on side dishes, luckily we checked our receipt and got the refund back from another lady, the coffee was burnt and the milk foam was terrible, the waitress who over charged us was also pretty rude. Not a very nice experience that you would expect in a holiday.
Raymond Leung
Typical breakfast menu but coffee is pretty good. Ordered a big breakfast and cappuccino. Though it is a bar at night, it has a very nice environment in the day time too.
Love Eating Out
We popped in for a coffee after a drive around Albany. We sat outside and the location is great - especially for families. We only ordered coffees and they were nice. The service was very good. The menu looked nice as did the outdoor area that was inside the pub. Would have liked to come back for dinner
Ashley Tharratt
Couldn't understand why I had to pay $5 extra to swap ham for bacon with my eggs Benedict. Also the Eggs Benedict came with English muffins which I found this very disappointing.
Busy place with a nice view! Even though the place was packed, the wait staff were very friendly. Shared the pea-falafel and beer battered fish and chips with a friend for lunch. Enjoyed both dishes
Prudence Coffey
The first time we went there we had a great breakfast and good coffee. The service was okay. We returned for dinner a few nights later and the service was horrible. They offered us no table and told us to get the menus ourselves, so naturally we didn't stay. Really disappointing, the food is 4/5 but the service.. terrible.
ANNE Walden
Went here Sunday evening, not to busy.
I had the special Pork Loin and partner had Rankin Cod with paella and chorizo.
Both meals were excellent.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, would definitely come again.
Jeff Butterfield
Good quality pub food and reasonably priced. Great menu with lots of variety. Drinks very well priced although the tap beer selection is quite limited. Staff very pleasant and service was efficient. Overall was quite impressed.

Went with a group of three friends, 4pm, not busy. We waited by the 'wait here to be seated' sign for over 10 minutes. Two waitstaff repeatedly walked past, ignoring us, not even acknowledging our presence. As we left, let them know politely that we were leaving due to no service. This was greeted by a snide 'no worries". Won't be going back.

21/1/16 - discovered by driving to the beach, atmosphere great, staff polite - lucky we went to check it out because it was curry night and the beef massaman curry was delicious! I don't generally veer off from butter chicken but the curry was great! Will definitely go back! The prawn skewers was good the rice a little spicy. Pork belly salad was to die for and the Atlantic salmon was delicious too!!
Overall best place to dine in Albany.
Bev Ridge
Very disappointed. I ordered waffles- decent size waffle but mixed berries appeared to be 1/2 jar of berry jam which made waffle soggy. Waitress gave me addition strawberries to make up for it. My guest ordered Fruit toast which was missing the honey and cinnamon.
Andrew
Came here for Breakky on a busy Sat morning and had a great meal. Service was perfect and food was top notch. Add to this the setting overlooking Middleton beach with a playground for the kids and you have a great destination.

The only meal to let us down in Albany over $70 spent and walked out hungry kids meal was $12 for half a small bowl of pasta . Not Albany standard at all!

Found by accident, went for weekday lunch, had starters as tapas. They were so good went back for more the next day. Will certainly go back again next time in Albany.

Took my Nana & two kids to here for lunch. We stood for awhile to be seated. Awkward. The blonde bob waitress was so rude and unfriendly. Overpriced crap food. Embarrassing actually, I am from Perth, originally from Albany and baulked at the prices!!! Kids meal fish & chips $12 plus an extra $3 for salad & then a $2 for a kids pack! Covered the kids chips in spicy seasoning too. Ha!!! Beer was cheap but selection not so great. They tried way too hard and failed miserably

One thing caught my attention from Three Anchors' breakfast menu - the clay pan breakfast. This was previously a favourite at Vancouver Cafe that has all but disappeared from their menu, so to find it elsewhere was intriguing to say the least, and it made Three Anchors a must-try.

The clay pan breakfast was almost exactly as I remember it from the Vancouver days, featuring all the same ingredients albeit with a finer dice. Although minor, it just seemed to take away from the classic country comfort food appeal it previously had with its larger, rough dices. Still, it was a pleasure to have found a replacement to fill the void, and I’ll certainly be back again for a second serving, I just hope the eggs aren’t overcooked next time!

As you’d expect given its name, the avocado toast featured plenty of mashed avocado smothered atop a thick, crusty slice of toast. Unfortunately the pair of poached eggs – much like those in the clay pan breakfast – were overcooked.

How to have a disorganised afternoon tea. Go to the Three Anchors
Six people simple orders cake coffee cider chips.
Now you would think that was straight forward?
Apparently not, The orders took from 5 - 45 mins to arrive "lost order numbers" or so we were told without an applogy with meaning or concern. And toboot the coffee was so cold that I think it was made when we first ordered!!
They may well need all Three Anchors" to hold thier position if that is what the performance isl like in general.
Not likely to be back and no good recomendatios from me

Terrible service. We waited...and we waited...and we waited. Meals didnt come out together, staff attitude was appalling and insolent when questioned. We even got the eye roll from a certain red headed waitress who blamed lost tickets..funny how some of the orders on the ticket came out and others didnt. Also frightfully cold for my elderly grandparents and when we asked to close the door they claimed it had to stay open. All in all not a great afternoon tea for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary

Lack of Facilities. With only one unisex toilet, at least some of the large seating capacity is forced to use the typical beachside outdoor toilet block adjoining... which is not really good enough. I'm not sure how this place passed Council and Health regulations.

The indoor toilet could do with a decent clean too!

Worst coffee of my entire life!!! Had one sip and it tasted like burnt beans with rotten milk. Yuck!!!!

Diner from Perth. Nice Casual atmosphere, friendly staff. Food average and overpriced, steak sandwich thin and dry not worth $25. Would reccomend for drinks only then go else where for food at these prices.

Happy customer. I have eaten here twice now, and have been happy with the food both times. It's a nice environment, staff are good and food quality is good. The drinks range is pretty good and we didn't have to wait long for service or food. Will go back again for sure, a great addition to Middleton Beach.

Looks impressive-but isn't!. Friday 2pm. Ordered a steak sandwich ($23.50) and Cheese Queso Dip ($15).
The place was quite empty but the meal took over half an hour to arrive and the drinks took a long time to reach us too.
The steak sandwich was average and the rustic fries were under done. They had an unusual tasting salt on them-chicken salt,i think but with a mix of parsley and paprika in it (like the store bought stuff you can buy). Not worth the money.

Queso Dip was AWFUL!!! I love Mexican (well,Australias version of it) and this was totally disappointing and shameful.
There was no spice to it,no sign of peppers in it-just a creamy shallow bowl of dip that tasted like all they had done was melt a couple of cheeses together and that was it! The corn chips looked impressive at first-like a small tortilla had been cut up and fried-and they weren't too bad but they were unevenly cooked and way too salty with too much of that weird tasting chicken salt(?) on them.

There were ginormous blow flies buzzing around the windows, which cant be completely controlled i'm sure, but to have that many in there makes you worry about what's in the kitchen.

Staff were not rude, but not really caring either.
This place looks good, has nice views, great beer garden, but food is overpriced and average.

Choice bro!. Best breakfast in albany . Toast is to die for. Wooohooo!

Pathetically Portioned Pieces Presented Poorly. My friends and I ordered fish and chips for dinner which contained two small pieces of fish, some chips and a salad. We weren't too happy with the portions, but with my meal in particular, the plate consisted of one and a half pieces. I politely alerted the waitress to the difference in size compared to the other dishes, and with an unfazed look, she went to speak to the chef. She came back with a piss poor excuse saying that the fish pieces were already prepared in that way and there was nothing she could do about it, even though it clearly looked like it was cut in half. My friends and I were prepared to purchase dessert, but with that pathetically poor excuse, we will never place a foot on the premises again.

Slow service. Worst service in Albany .

Visiting from Perth, we were delighted to find a restaurant so close to our accommodation that catered to vegans and vegetarians. The previous Urban Spoon reviews have been negative, but that was from more than a year ago. They seem to have changed the menu and made it fantastic! We had Pea-lafel and flatbread with chips for lunch; well priced and freakin' delicious. The drinks were few to choose from, but a quality few. We came back for breakfast and ate the Boho Bowl and Drunken Mushrooms with goat's cheese- again, next-level delicious. The coffee was also good. These things all complimented by a beautiful view of Middleton Beach in stormy Winter and a cosy, slightly industrial aesthetic.
It's nothing fancy, but this pub does what it does extremely well. Top marks.

Breakfast Bandit. Hey remember us !
Booked in for eight for breakfast over the long weekend in June, with the restaurant not far from empty. Drinks and breakfasts ordered, drinks arrive all good but a small kids milkshake was 80% froth - not that hard I wouldn't have thought !

Breakfast arrive and look OK - but missing two. After waiting until others had half finished my partner called over the young waiter and gave him the heads up - he disappeared - never to return. Another effort with a different waiter and yes it was coming, although by now others had finished.

Gave up and asked for our money back but was told it was still coming - more a lunchtime entrĂŠe by now ! Finally demanded money back which was grudgingly given up, little apology and still had to cough up for the drinks - come on Albany you can do better !!
Girl_racer
I had grilled fish & chips and my partner had a Reuben. My fish was lovely and the chips were good. I would've liked it more if the fish wasn't on top of the chips because it made it soggy. I do think however, their take away fish & chips is more tasty and better value. My parter loved the Reuben.

Thursday Dinner. No booking so squeezed onto a group table. Really friendly and attentive waiter. We enjoyed local oysters. I had fish of the day (groper) and my partner had the goat curry. We did need to wait a long time for our god but it was worth it! Really yummy! Desert was creative and inspired by everyday sweets such as snickers and Eskimo joes. We have vowed to come back and try the pirate planks.

Major disapointment, slow service and poor value. Had fish of the day and portion was
Not value for money. Will not go back.

Great spot. Great view. And the avocado toast was one of the best breakfasts I have had in ages. Should come standard with poached egg at price but flavor was amazing. Well done

Really enjoyed it. After reading reviews we where a little hesitant but has such a great view we couldn't resist trying. The food was great, we enjoyed the platter of local produce and visited again for another meal and had a great steak. Wine menu provided local wines which we enjoyed. If you have kids the play ground out the front is a winner. We enjoyed a 3 hour lunch as kids so entertained we felt bad leaving. Definitely try

Enjoyable experience. Food and service never fails to disappoint. always on point

The view and location are excellent. The food is overpriced and below average. Entrees arrive with the main course..??.. Spaghetti undercooked shellfish more shell than fish...

Amazing oysters. On a recent trip to Albany (for 3 nights) we had the pleasure of eating out at Three Anchors on 3 occasions. The pub was so close to our accommodation so the convenience and then the meals/service kept us going back.

The oysters were amazing, the best we have ever had. We also had the platter and on another occasion we shared a burger and chips. The lemon tarts were a delight, we got them to takeaway.

The staff were very efficient and friendly, we managed to get comfy lounge seats in the corner away from the hustle and bustle.

I went there on a whim while visiting beautiful Albany. The view of Middleton beach was insane. As was the food.. The menu caters to a wide range of diners while still finding a way to be vibrant, fresh and inventive. Our waitstaff were satisfactory and the wine list, yet small, was perfect. We tried the express winemakers white wine honestly reminded us of a summer afternoon in the sun. Hints of stone fruit while not being too sweet. Everything about this establishment oozes potential. I would definitely give it a huge thumbs up, if there are residents in this quiet town ready for a change and spruce up. This is the place.

How can a restaurant not know how to make lemon lime bitters??

Currently on holidays from Melbourne and must say this establishment was a pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting much as I have seen some fairly scathing reviews written by some apparent hospitality experts . However my partner and I enjoyed the food although I do agree the service was a little lack lustre and sloppy. The restaurant seems to cater to wide audience, a smart move I would assume from a beach side establishment that needs to cater for locals, tourists and young families. Our food was simple, unpretentious and interesting. I had a beautifully cooked rare steak with a green peppercorn jus, my wife enjoyed her cinnamon grilled quail with cauliflower and pistachio cous cous and our daughter loved her kids pasta- I had to stop myself from eating hers too! The wine list is small and unfussy and the decor pleasing and inviting- if perhaps a little stark. Definitely give this place a go if you are in town. A great investment in a town with very little other good dining options it seems

The good news is the food is no longer of such a bad standard that if your four- year-old daughter made it and brought it to you in bed, you'd scold her for doing such a bad job. After an awful experience my first time there we gave it another crack - my burger was actually quite nice, but my girlfriend's pasta was pretty poor. Still, an improvement. But the service was an embarrassment to the hospitality industry. We finished our bottle of water in 2 minutes, never got another one - and we were there for 88 more minutes. We had to get our own cutlery - apparently linguine is now acceptable as finger food - and then serviettes too. The couple next to us had been waiting over an hour for mains on a quiet night when we left. They asked where they were and the girl they asked never bothered to come back. It's a shame, because now the food is above the standard of what you'd feed your dog the place has potential. But the service and setup are still abysmal. I won't be back anytime soon

Great for Albany!. Went here on a night in Winter so it was quiet but got a nice table near the fire. Ordered arancini to share to start which was great, cheesy and nice and crispy. Then ordered fish and chips and a steak. The fish was lovely and moist with a crispy batter and a nice tartare/mayo. My steak was perfect, one bite in I knew it was great. I asked for medium and it was medium. Served with shoestring fries and rocket. I had the pepper jus which was good.
So all good but as we ate some more of our chips we realised that both portions were very very salty. I do like salty chips but we both commented at the same time that they were too salty. In fact overpowering the steak and the fish. I couldn't finish them and had 2 glassed of water. Such a shame as my steak was the best I have had for ages. I think next time I would just ask for no salt and add my own. Think it may have just been an oversight as the kitchen was quiet and they probably cooked one portion at a time instead of a big batch of fries.

We then shared a dessert the ice cream bars - they were too die for and a huge portion 4 bars. Definately one to share!!! Tasted like a Bounty and had a salted caramel dipping sauce, yum!!

Only other thing that I realied afterwards was we were not offered a wine or cocktail list.

Overall this was a great place with a great menu, better than the usual boring Albany fare of boring Italian or overpriced Surf n Turf. Cant wait to go back in the Summer and enjoy the beach side setting. Hope Albany gets behind this fab venue

Great Potential. I was visiting from Perth and thought I would try the Three Anchors. The location and decor is fantastic, overall the restaurants concept is a good addition to the town. However, the drinks, food and service need a bit of help. The cocktails selection was very bland and the cocktails themselves took a incredible time to make (considering the restaurant was pretty much empty). The presentations of the cocktails was boring. The food menu was pretty interesting with a good selection. The food itself was alright but nothing amazing. With a bit more effort this place could be great!
Coops1990
Amazing food, friendly service, good cocktails! Simple food done right. Ha a beef burger which had perfect balance of flavour and a chimichurri spices steak sandwich which was again perfect combo! Friendly waitstaff and a great cocktail waiter :-) quick service, clean and elegant setting. Will definitely be back!!! Go three anchors, we need this kind of eatery in Albany!
Lana
Terrible terrible terrible! To start off with We werent even acknowledged when we went in, and had to practically chase the staff around to get their attention. Will never go back!!! Ordered 2 of the 300g fillet, asked for medium and medium well, firstly they served us with a medium and a medium rare! I had to send it back to which they served me a whole new meal, by this time my partner had had enough of his as his was even too undercooked for him! Mine was again still way too rare, by this time I just wanted to leave. To top it off no eftpos or ATM so we had to travel 5kms to the nearest ATM. The worst meal I have ever had, I can cook better!!

Beautiful Atmosphere plus great food!. I had the Pea Fafel and it was sensational!

A great little bar/restaurant with lovely staff and atmosphere :)

I dined on the couch whilst dining solo and I was so comfortable... A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

And about time Albany!

Love it. My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Middleton Beach. We ate 2 dinners and a breakfast at the Three Anchors. It wasn't very busy at all - being midweek and the week before school holidays in WA, which meant that the kitchen was closing very early (8ish, depending on how many people were about).
The first night we had the special Braised Oxtail with Polenta and the Roasted Lamb, both meals were extremely tasty, my only gripe is that there are no greens as a side available as an extra order - I'm a big greens girl!
The second night's meal was Duck Ragu and a Freekah and Quinoa Salad. The Ragu was beautifully cooked and the Quinoa salad perfectly balanced, but massive, I only managed to eat half the serve.
The breakfast we had was awesome, my BF loved the waffles with banana's and scoffed them before I had a chance to pinch any. My Boho Breakfast bowl was so incredibly tasty and filling! The coffees were good, not fabulous, but good. The staff were all really good on the whole. But as I say, there were some nights when we were just there with the staff at the end, so they were attentive without being annoying.
We love the Three Anchors and wish they'd bring back the Coconut Braised Beef Ribs (we had them in January and the friends we went with still rave about them!).
Hannah
Lovely food, friendly unobtrusive staff. I'd give the fried oysters a miss, but rabbit, duck and sirloin all great!

Very Poor Service. Went to here on Monday of the long weekend and my wife had to wait over 30 min for 2 cups of mediocre coffee. Not good enough in any book. Sufficient staff, not a large number of clients; so what was the excuse? My wife has experienced this service lack before 10 min waiting for service (just wanting a bottle of water) and ended up walking out...Management needs to reassess things quickly or we will end up with another Middleton Beach Failure.

Worst meal I have ever had. We got there early on saturday night - ambience great - looking forward to a good meal by the beach. My son ordered a soup as an entree - duck ragout and I the steak. We got all three meals together. The soup consisted of one ladle full that had been micro waved and two pieces of cold toasted bread. The duck ragout consisted of cold thick pasta and a bit of flavourless duck. My steak arrived with stone cold chips a hand full of greens ( salad?) and a burnt peppercorn sauce. We has planned to sit and enjoy the night could not wait to get out of the place. I would have been embarassed to serve what they did

Impressed to the Max. Give them a go!. This was my first time to Three Anchors, I just had the duck ragu and it was to die for!! Paired with a glass of their Pemberton Pinot couldn't ask for anything more perfect. Service was delightful. Not sure what had happened for previous reviews to be so bad but I would recommend giving them a go.

Breakfast BAD!. Terrible - went out for breakfast for a special treat - chose this place due to location.. but thats where the positives end. The breakfast menu is crap for starters.. the muffins were stale, had a egg & bacon sandwich - the toast was burnt & they didn't even try to hide it.. egg was way undercooked. Bacon just yuck.. terrible meals and some staff were lovely, others not so much. Coffee also really bad. Macca's breakfast would have been nicer. Maybe dinners are better? I would hope so, but I'm not going back to find out.. go anywhere but here!

Waiting, waiting. Just went down to for a coffee with 4 others. Not that busy but still waited 1 hour for 4 coffees. Having been in the hospitality industry for 38 years I was not impressed to have to sit in a restaurant for this long while people who order take- aways recieve their drinks before restaraunt customers, even when their orders are taken 20 minutes after mine. The excuse of we are not very organised today does not really cut the mustard as this was the same excuse given the last time we had shoddy service when having a meal. Nice venue terrible service & food. Not impressed you need to lift your game & give good service!

Just Disappointing. Dined there on Saturday 6th April. As There was no Oysters had the Onion Rings and Banana Sauce which am afraid was oily and tastless. Followed by ‘Jamaican curry goat and peas n rice’...this is a dish that is not as easy to cook as it would appear and does have complex flavours....!!

Red kidney beans with the rice that was fine rice a tad soggy.
The curry goat...they put potato, curry powder (hence lack of flavour), then to top it off 5-6 little pieces of goat meat...!! Seriously I counted it too..!! To think Goats are awash in WA....!!!

if you are going to call and make one of Jamaica's national dishes YOU”D BETTER do it justice and (don’t add potatoes as an extender, pineapple Chutney and I think it was sour cream as a topping to the dish) you never know if folk or there descendants may come in and try it...and the combination in the dish was too much of a mish mash to be enjoyed.

I can seriously understand why the Japanese get upset over watered down version of their cusine..!! Nice try guys but either improve the dish, take it off the menu or call it something else...!! The australian dining public deserves the best of a really really delicious dish.

The staff was pleasant and efficient (but please lose the chux hanging out of your back pocket - really tacky even for a pub).

Happy Happy Happy. Loved the vibe of this new restaurant in Albany. To sit at a window and watch the waves roll in on a still, wam evening made it all the more enjoyable. Pub grub with a difference, which matches in nicely with the whole ambience. I had the Fish & Chips, and my partner had the chicken dish, helped down, with a couple of Matso's Ginger Beers, and both were yummy and satisfying, we then shared a chocolate dessert called "The Bounty" which was to die for, as a chocoholic I was in heaven. Thanks to the Three Anchors crew - thought the staff shirts were a cool touch - we will be back.

Complete disappointment. We visited three anchors for a friends birthday drinks/dinner. To start with everyone knows albany is freezing so why not have a little heating or even closing the doors to the outside area so your customers don't die of hyperthermia?
We ordered the nachos, duck confit salad and burger(all rediculously overpriced for albany) nachos came out burnt to a crisp and barely edible, duck salad was ment to include goats cheese and walnuts and instead came out drowned in an oil dressing, served with Camembert and hazelnuts. Burger was ok but very salty.
No table service and staff were unresponsive when asked if they could close the doors to the outside area. Won't be back

We got there around 5:30. The service was good. We got the mozzarella and chilli with toast, really good when you soak the toast.. My wife got the spaghetti with yabbie and chilli (it was too hot for me but my wife loved it), serving size was good for one. I got the pork belly, which was really good, but it's not really a mains, about 1.5 x 15cm, with some dressing, most probably best cut up and shared. Had a Bounty (rich chocolate mud cake slice with coconut ice cream and an awesome chocolate sauce) for dessert. very good. If I hadn't already stuffed myself during the day, I might have gone another one.. I think the menu is a little limited and more for a group of people to order a plate of everything to share around, then a traditional one. Overall, we were quite happy with the service and the food.

Fantastic!!. I often head south for work purposes and stay in the peaceful, ocean hugged town of Albany. I have become accustomed to the usual 'steak and chips' scene the town has to offer and never really expected much more. Some local friends took me to a new place that had recently opened up on the beach front. I must say I was blown away with the experience. I could tell each dish had been crafted meticulously with every bite changing and evolving. Each flavour had it's depth, space and intensity, yet sat perfectly within the dish. The Pea-lafels (is that right??) were incredible and a perfect example of this. The shared menu was brilliant, I wasn't stuck with just one dish I was able to indulge (and indulge I did) in a world of taste. Lets not forget the booze... I happily guzzled on the recommended wine and beer to a state of nirvana. I don't usually do these types of reviews, however I felt compelled to share my amazing experience. Well done Albany. Well done Three Anchors. I look forward to my next trip.

Finally!. I had my first dining experience at Three Anchors a couple of nights ago and was really impressed with the place. Their shared menu and fab drinks list is a much needed and refreshing change for Albany. Thank god there is finally something on offer rather than the standard and very boring meat, vege and chips offered at so many other places in town. When we were seated the waitress explained the shared meal concept in an approachable manner and encouraged the 6 of us to settle in and enjoy a variety of smaller yet absolutely delicious and turns out substantial dishes. My wife and I adored the beef ribs and love how the kitchen serves it off the bone for ease of eating and the salad on top with crispy shallots was to die for. Even the dessert menu is shared, though I could have easily eaten the lemon meringue pie dish all to myself. You can see a lot of care and technique has been put into the food and for what it is the prices to me seem very affordable. Overall as a dining experience, my group of friends were really impressed. We had heard a few negative reviews before coming so we really tried to enter with an open mind but were happy to say we were thoroughly convinced by the Three Anchors experience. I really hope Albany embraces this place, it is just the change that this town needs.

Unhappy. Just come back from our first visit to the Three Anchors. Thought that I would go with my husband for coffee and dessert to see what it was like. You walk in the door and see a sign "please wait to be seated" so we did and waited and waited finally one of the wait staff asked "you guys alright?" not "can I help you?" Any way we were told to find a table and then order at the bar ??? we didn't qualify for table services. Then we went to order and my husband had to wait and wait before they took his order. 2 coffee's and 1 serve of Lemon Meringue pie $23 it had better be good.We sat down to wait and talk. Well the acoustics are really bad. I really enjoy the chatty atmosphere of a bar but this has low flat ceilings about a concrete floor so all the sound bounces of the floor and ceiling, not nice and totally avoidable.
We didn't have to wait long for our coffee which was nice, very mild but well made. We then waited and waited for our dessert to the point my coffee was half gone when we asked were our dessert was to be told they were a little snowed under and it would come soon 5 mins later a wait person come over to tell us that they had run out of Lemon Meringue pie, what??? people were still ordering their dinner and they had run out of not 1 but 2 desserts. The other options were chocolate based which I can't have so we asked for a refund she was questioned if we had paid or not. It took about 5 mins for her then to get us our refund.
Over all I'm sure that some people will enjoy it and maybe the food is good I wouldn't know as we didn't get any. I wont be going back there anytime soon. Which is really sad for us as we always enjoyed going to the Beach-side cafe/restaurant and were looking forward to making this our new place.
Also they don't open till 11am so don't think about going there for coffee and cake as the kiosk only does takeaway coffee and a very small selection of cakes.

Good sophisticated vibe at Three Anchors and is perfect for groups of friends looking to share some of the best meals in Albany if not the state! Menu is designed to mix and match a few different items for your table so be prepared for that when you order. Good selection of drinks Aswell, some very nice beers and a solid wine list. Good food, good drinks, good staff, excellent time!

Winning. It's a given that anything at this location would work, but it doesn't hurt that this place is one of the best, if not the best venue in Albany.
From what it was to what it is now, This place has become the new place to eat, drink and chill.
The staff sat us down, suggested we get lots of stuff to share and left us to ponder the menu. Two of us got the pea-lafels, poppers and 6 natural oysters to start and got a great recommendation on wines and beer to match the food. I had the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and My partner had a Great local sparkling wine.
The oysters were amazingly fresh, the poppers were quite spicy but REALLY tasty and the pea-lafels just exploded with flavour.
Once we were done, we decided to try the ribs and mussels. We struggled to get through all of the food because there was so much between two of us ( would have easily been enough to share between 3/4) but it was all so good we couldn't stop eating it. We even got some fries to dip in the mussel sauce once we had finished them.
Missed out on dessert this time because we were so full, but we'll be back.
Absolutely fantastic - can't wait to try the cocktails!
Cheers guys!

I have already been to 3 anchors 3 times as it seems to be a popular meeting place. Our first time we were told that there was an hour wait on food. I ordered the kabab sticks. They came out as 3 sticks half covered with meet with no sides. Seemed very strange to not have a little lettuce or tiny salad on the side. My mum ordered a salad and it came out on a full sized dinner plate with the salad pushed onto the quarter of the plate as a side dish? Seems strange? My partner ordered a burger and it came out as a medium sized burger no salad or chips on the side. My dad ordered fish bites and 3 tiny fish pieces came out. We also ordered chips.
All food was tasty however my kababs were a bit on the salty side. I think the menu needs to properly show sections eg entree, main, sides. The way it is set out now u would presume that the kebabs were a main when they clearly arn't.
Or when you order the waiter should be trained to say would you like chips or salad with that so you have some idea its not included.
Our waiter forgot our order not once but twice. When we asked for our bill she forgot that aswel. I don't really understand how it takes an hr to bring out a side salad. It seemed that there was plenty of staff.
Our second visit the only had enough spirit to give one of the 3 drinks we ordered.
3rd visit still much the same.
I think in a couple of months if the menu has been re worded and staff wording trained and teething problems fixed this place could be great. It looks great and has potential.
I wouldn't not go there just be prepared to order each individual item you would like to eat.

Overpriced, under delivered. Way over priced with small serves.

2 people / lunch / burger, battered fish, chips, 2x soft drinks = $50

Ordering ale battered fish - expect chips right? No- must be ordered separately, only to find paper cushion in base of 'large' chips bowl (>$9)

One toilet, napkins instead of hand towels, no disposal bin.

They did get our drinks order correct- on the third try.

Three Anchors casual environment I feel gives the impression that the food will be just your usual bar food but the quality we experienced went above and beyond that.
