Amazing food and wine! The care and level of service is fantastic! If you haven't visited the point I highly recommend it.
One of the best dining experiences ever had.
Brilliant food well prepared and well matched with wines. Excellently catered for special tastes of one of the diners. Will recommend widely. Thanks
The service was out of this world!!! I was pregnant at the time and the lovely bar staff made the yummiest mock tails for me!! We had the degustation menu and the kitchen staff adjusted my meals as there were some raw seafood in some dishes. Can't wait for our next visit!!!
The Point is the place to visit if you are looking for the perfect setting to eat delicious food. Can never fault this place
Great views. Superb menu. Wine list extensive. Wonderful treat for a special lunch
Took my mother here for dinner for her birthday. Staff were highly professional and friendly. Not a thing to complain about. Beautiful venue and a view that blew us away. Thank you for a flawless evening!
Visited here a long time ago in 2007 but it was absolutely amazing and the staff couldn't of done enough for you. Wonderful setting and the food was incredible. Next time I'm in Melbourne I will visit again x
One of the best restaurants I've eaten at. Exceptional food and service. We celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary there and enjoyed the experience immensely. My abalone entree, pork main and chocolate orb were all presented beautifully and could have graced the cover of any top food magazine. Nothing to fault.
I can't actually give a review of The Point's food and hospitality as I have never been a customer, however, it is in an amazing spot on Albert Park Lake which I can highly recommend as I and many others, enjoy its benefits every day. Yesterday on my morning walk I noticed a teddy bear bear sitting on a bench near The Point and it was still there this morning (he had been rained on overnight) so I have taken him home to a warm fire to dry off but I am now seriously trying to do everything I can to find his owner(s) as I'm sure they are missing him as much as he is missing them 😢😢I'm asking, if anyone comes to The Point and asks if you've seen a teddy bear please ask them to contact me with a note to Louise, POBOX 103 Prahran 3181 and I will return him to them.
Sorry I can see anywhere to post a photo of this adorable bear 😟😟
Best restaurant in town. Always exceeds my expectations - zero disappointments.
Staff and beautiful venue made our wedding day so incredibly perfect.
Thank you especially to Victoria Chin for her exceptional service as Event Coordinator.
Five star service!! Delicious food!! Gorgeous venue :)
Steak is delicious and view also very beautiful.
Booked from online a night before, easily got a table. Upon our arrival, staffs greeted us nicely and took us to the allocated table near the window (would have been nice if it was during the day). The staffs have been keeping an eye on our table and making sure we have a great night, like offering us sourdough and keep refilling our water.
Food:
O’connor eye fillet
Pumpkin and potato sides
Chinese date pudding
Opera cake
The food was not like we had expected. It was a bit pricey, although eye fillet was cooked as we requested but there’s less flavour and lack of seasoning. We have to ask for more salt to add on top of it. The sides was allright and size was decent. Furthermore, we ordered chinese date pudding and opera cake dessert after we wait for 25 minutes. Opera cake was allright, not to sweet and pretty presentation on plate. Chinese date pudding was an okay too. The taste was balance, a little bit sour and little bit sweet, perfect combination.
The staffs was really great at serving us,cannot complaint. The place and the ambience was nice and romantic, good for special occasion with your beloved ones. However, the food was not as we expected.
Overall, great place, great view, great ambience, great staffs unfortunately not so great food.

Came here with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary with The Point’s 7 course degustation menu. This restaurant has been on my list for a while and certainly didn’t disappoint. For the price paid, I think the food, service, venue and experience measured up! They even provided complimentary sweet bites to celebrate our anniversary! The 7 courses felt more like a 10 course meal and it's too hard to pick a favourite dish! Would love to come back to try even more items off the menu!
Really enjoyed our meal here. It has a lovely sense of occasion with the view, nicely spaced tables, a rare lack of background noise (yes, you can actually talk without shouting) and polite but not overly casual service. We found the a la crate menu good value and the food well balanced and tasty. Wines are on the pricier side but the choice is good by the glass and mind blowing by the bottle. Value is even better if you have the Entertainment Guide.
Came here for my anniversary. Had an a la carte lunch. My partner isn’t that much into fine dining but he enjoyed it so much that he would most definitely come back here again. Service was great! The view was a bonus. Look forward to coming here again to try the new menu.
I took my best friend here for his birthday and we loved the experience. The waiters were extremely tentative and always made sure we had bread and out glasses full. It was way too formal for my liking and I felt like the waiters would never smile. (Fine dining is usually not my thing) The view looked amazing and the cutlery looked more expensive than the food. I ordered the two course meal for $65 dollars. I had the slow cooked pork for my entree and gnocchi for main. The pork was very tender and juicy and was well balanced with the sweet celeriac and apple. The gnocchi was very creamy but the serving size was way too small. We also ordered mr Chen’s crispy sausage which just tasted like sweet bacon with yogurt. As a side we ordered the beef fat potatoes; which just tasted like fatty potatoes. It was probably the most filling dish we had. It was an overall very nice experience and I enjoyed eating tiny portions of beautifully presented food.
Overall: I would recommend for a nice occasion. I would not go back there though
There are aspects of The Point Restaurant that are really inviting, however, I felt there was something missing in the ambience of the restaurant. In my opinion, it lacks soul and far too formal for my liking. Yes, my thoughts, however, it is possible to be formal, if that’s what you want to achieve, but the experience for the diner doesn't have to be quite so serious!
yummy xiaologbao:)good water view:)and friendly service, kids friendly:) really like it:) good place to relax and get together with friends:)
Went there yesterday for lunch, not a cheat eat but felt it was good value and would definitely go back for a special occasion. Was a bit shocked we were the only people there, had considered the city, but the view of the lake and being able to drive and park close (during the day, not sure about evening) attracted me. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, but the meal is one I will long remember. Very glad we picked the 3 course option. Arrive early. It's the sort of place and meal you want to enjoy and take your time over.
We had dinner here on Sat night. The 6 course degustation with wine match was great. Concept is simple but well done - doesn't have the same level of differentiation / uniqueness in the food as some other chef hatted restaurants at this price point but it's OK as each dish was very well cooked and great flavours - there was not one dish we didn't like. Sommelier was excellent. Has a nice relaxed and spacious feel which is good too. Would like to come back for a lunch session to really appreciate the views.
Top spot as far as location and views go. Had the the hapuka for entre and the eye fillet for main. The whole experience was good including the service. Spent a good afternoon there but have to say that nothing blew us away about the food. But you couldn't pick a better spot for a romantic date or an important business meeting.
Planned birthday lunch at The Point. Was a very relaxing and comfortable meal. Prompt and discrete service. Amazing views on clear days. Food was delicious. It's a nice fine dining experience but I just can't put my finger on why it's not exceptional - whether it's because it fees a bit kitch, trying to hard, or is in fact is a bit dated.
Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here last week and ordered 2 courses a la carte menu, we were surprised by fantastic hospitality, scrumptious dishes, generous portion and chef complementaries. The ambient is so nice too, overall good experience :)
Excellent dinning environment, good service, delicates food. A place that you can enjoy your dinner for hours. Not much view in winter evening as it gets dark really early. I would recommend it, just go easy with you alcohol order as they can build up the bill quite quickly!
Almost forget to give some feedback after try some delicious food every single time.Okay. Here i am. First thing first. I have to say. What a magnificent view it is!!! when i step into to the restaurant with my brother. Both of us were shocked by the scenery! very comfortable. Secondly, we order the 3 course for each and plus 6 pack of oysters. To be honest and say. The most fresh oyster never even had before!!😆 the texture, i just can't find a specific word to describe my feeling。Just tasty. U know.and for the 3 course. The r pretty good 。especially for the match wine. Some r sweet . Some r sour. U guys consider about that. Did a very good job. I will catch up later.
This degustation was outstanding! Came here for my sisters bday with our family. We were all very impressed with the service from the start. The house cocktail was delicious and had a bit of theatre. All the dishes were presented in such a creative way, and were all absolutely delightful! I would highly recommend coming here to try the food, and the views are just an added bonus!
Super attentive and great staff service when i planned for my dad's 60th birthday here. We had some dietery requirement requests and they delivered beautifully. Not only we had options to choose from the courses but also a delicious meal. One of my top recommended places to dine
Staff Christmas dinner at The Point.
One of the most unforgettable dinning experience.
Dishes are so beautiful as you can see in the photos
Absolutely stunning!
High quality food. What can I say more!
The first perfect 5
service excellent food extraordinary
overall could not fault anything
Everything as it should be
Recommend anyone to enjoy a great night
To Chef and all the team a job very very well done
The dinning experience was really nice. Me and my family has enjoyed a wonderful meal at the points. Will definitely come by another time with friends. Highly recommended!
The pattern of this western restaurant is very unique. To have dinner with friends chat is also very comfortable, looking forward to the next to go!
This environment and location are great, I can see the nice view while I enjoy the food. The dishes are tasty, the services are always nice, also the price is acceptable for universal consumers.
great restaurant,i love it very much!
the wine is really match the dishes ,by the way,the scene is also great!!!!
best food i never ever enjoy
Heard this is one of the best canteen in Melbourne and it enjoys a great popularity among the many celebrities, now I can see why cuz their food Are exactly amazing, I love it so much definitely the first recommendation!! Don't miss it go and check out
As for the service, it is very good. The staffs are very friendly, and they provide the service from all of the aspects。 😘😘😘😘😘😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
What a coooool place to eat! The rooms and atmosphere were modern and exciting. The food was exceptional and the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The menu was so extensive it was overwhelming but the waiter gave us excellent advice and pretty much ordered for us! His picks were spot on with stand out dumplings and the mango pudding with lychee spheres was to die for. We were left feeling pleasantly full without feeling bilious. I would highly recommend the point to anyone!
A nice place suit for wedding
The point around the lake, it has a beautiful view
Food is very good!

Good dinner at the point! Delicious food lovely service! I was really enjoy it! One thing is that maybe you should give me some cold water as it is so hot outside
Amazing night at the Point!!!
This is the best restaurant I've ever been!!!
The wine matching is really wonderful. Best food and best service!
This is the best restaurant I've ever been! My favorite dish is the king george whiting, dashi , Absolutely gorgeous!! And the staff are also friendly and welcome. Nice job The Point.
I love it and it has always been in a great location. The small private rooms would make a great spot to have a group booking. We have put this on the list of places to return.
Spectacular location prefect got wedding. First time had pleasure to dinner at the point. It didn't not disappoint. One of the better wedding meals I have experienced. Must come back tho try their steak next time. Dessert was delicious.
Fantastic venue. Had the 10 course degustation meal and 9 out of 10 courses were wonderful
Can certainly hold its own with Attica and Vue de Monde. Evrrything siblime both in presentation and taste. Really modern food that would appeal to anyone. What let the meal down was the main desert which was a rhubarb dish with goats milk and sorrel. I would imagine that desert would be something sweet and tasty. Not so with this dish. It was bitter, sour and basically inedible. We left ours after a small tasting. We saw many diners do the same and spoke to the diners next to us who confirmed the dish was awful. I cannot imagine how the chef would serve this-surely they must tsste it first. Apart from this, it was a tremendous meal.
We had an amazing night at The Point, enjoying the degustation menu with 10 dishes and the premium wine matching. Almost all the dishes were amazing. I especially loved the spanner crab with asparagus and the salt and pepper calamari (sounds like a common dish, but is the surprise of the evening). The only dish that was not amazing was the a vegetarian dish with beetroot, goat cheese and brioche crumb; all the flavours were nice, but it felt a bit disjointed. The wine matching included wines we would never have an opportunity to taste otherwise; truly impressive! Sommelier and the waiters added to the wonderful experience...and then there's the view...So yes, great night out!
Fantastic food, great location and attentive staff who knew what they were talking about. Dining experience was wonderful overall - hard to fault this place.
Food.. Absolutely beautiful.. Service absolutely beautiful.. Our favourite dine out for special occasions...
Please don't ever change..
An experience you simply must try for yourself..
This was my very first fine dining experience and it has definitely set the bar high! We went with the six course degustation because the ten course sounded like way too much food - and we were right. We ended up being stuffed at the end of our meal.
One of my favourites of the night was definitely the second course, which was some artichoke dish. The flavours were perfectly balanced and the dish was very exquisite. The other dish I really enjoyed was the dessert, which was a chocolate rice pudding encircling a beautiful quenelle of sorbet. I usually don't even like sorbet but this one was incredibly light and airy. The rice pudding was delicious and the chocolate wasn't overpowering at all. It was a very enjoyable, refreshing dessert. When we thought our meal had ended, the waiter brought over a box with a bunch of little goodies in it - jellies, biscuits, mini madeleine cookies and mint chocolate truffles. I ordered a green tea to go with these. The little desserts were all lovely and delicate and a fantastic way to wrap up an elaborate meal.
Needless to say I was very impressed by The Point. The service was excellent, the food was exquisite, all matched by a fantastic view; my meal at The Point will be one to remember.
The Point is a lovely restaurant to visit for a special occasion. Each meal is presented promptly and tastes and looks wonderful.
On my last visit I noticed that the carpet was rather wrinkled and frankly could have used an iron. In fact a waitress tripped on the wrinkles on the way to our table with the bill. I felt bad for her but I just couldn't help but laugh.
I'll definitely be back and I'm looking forward to seeing the floors
Having been several times, I'm never disappointed. Great views and fine dining service coupled with well presented and fine food mean this is a great experience. Go during the day to enjoy the views. Get your sommelier to pour your wine from their special collection of decanters.
Here for the Brokenwood wine dinner. Amazing service, great venue and very impressed with the menu. Amazing rabbit served 3 ways: faggot, loin and cutlets. Confit of king salmon was served just perfect, cooked and served with sweetest onion.
Dunny review - really need to replace seats in the ladies - this lets down the style and class of the site.
Lunch time for the views; dinner for romance and private rooms for corporate or event. Deserving of a chefs hat this year.
The restaurant has an amazing view. You get to see the lake with yatchs gliding by as you enjoy their amazing service and food. I would definitely recommend the bbq bug, it was by far the best dish and seafood I've ever had. The only letdown was the desserts which were both too sweet and rich for my liking. Their chef's little surprise dishes were also a great addition to the dining experience. Overall, great food and environment at a reasonable price.
An amazing location, premium food done well and just an all round solid experience. I've dined at the Point. Easily on par with most 2 and 3 Hat venues.
Magnificent service. Possibly the best level of service in Melbourne. And it's delivered with great attention to detail. When your wine glass is just about empty, it is promptly refilled. When you ask about certain dishes, they are highly knowledgeable. The staff are very interactive, professional and personable, without being slightest bit intrusive. And there was a bit of a delay between our entree and main course, which resulted in a glass of complimentary wine - indicating that they know how to manage even a small issue.
The ambiance of the restaurant is great too. Mood lighting, stunning views, clever seating for two people (so you share the view instead of sitting opposite each other) and its nice and quiet. While some diners prefer loud, cluttered venues, I prefer a relaxed, carpeted venue - so this was perfect for me.
The food is excellent. While I believe this was once famous for its steak, it's now a more modern, haute cuisine menu. And thank god! (I'm completely over the whole "high end" steak thing). The food is inventive and presented very well, but thoughtfully maintains boundaries resulting in high end food that does not get too complicated or fussed over. The beef tartare at the start was absolutely heavenly. The best I've ever had.
The entree of parmesan custard was slightly under-seasoned but delicious. The chicken oyster entree with truffle and tarragon was fairly good. The smoked wallaby on the next course was absolutely magnificent. My partner had the sauteed mushrooms on french toast - also brilliant. I had the veal porterhouse for main course, which was very nice, but much partner has the rabbit - which was the dish of the evening. Would kill for the recipe to the balls in that dish - brings back a flavour memory from childhood.
Overall very happy. Yes it is a bit pricey but not out of controll. The wine list is tremendous, but offers some great cheaper alternatives. The cocktail trolley at the start of the night was a great touch of theater to the evening. Looking forward to visiting for new special occasion.
This place is truly on Point in terms of its food, service and décor. We came here on a Saturday evening for a birthday dinner and we were excited to finally try this chef-hatted restaurant. Saturday evening bookings require your credit card details to be held with a charge incurred if a cancellation is made within 24 hours of your expected arrival. The restaurant is located in a section of Albert Park Lake that I didn't even know existed and there is plenty of parking close by- although it is paid parking even after 8pm on a Saturday evening!! We arrived and were greeted at the door, our coats taken as we were escorted to our table.
The majority of the tables in this venue face the lake and if you are dining as a couple you have the opportunity to sit next to each other rather than across the table- making your dining experience more intimate. The view from your seat outlooks the lake and part of the St. Kilda skyline, however the lighting in the restaurant was far too bright for us to enjoy the view- rather we ended up looking at our own reflections- which was unfortunate. Would recommend perhaps toning down the lights, a little, to evoke a sense of 'mood lighting' and to accentuate their prime location.
As we sat, a drinks cart was brought to us with the option for a cocktail of our choice to be created in front of us. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and present but not overbearing. The menu is diverse and encompasses a variety of flavours, we chose the 3 course meal option and opted for; (apologies their exact name escapes me and I didn't take photos because it felt a bit strange at such a fancy restaurant :D)
Entrees
Salmon Confit – this was delicious, with the salmon superbly seasoned and tantalisingly soft
Wallaby with beetroot mosaic – this was my first experience eating wallaby. It was cooked to perfection and was seasoned and worked well with the flavours of the beetroot mosaic
Main
Rabbit – The rabbit was well cooked and seasoned with the rabbit sausage the stand out on the plate
Pork belly – the pork was also fantastic and kept us coming back for more
Duck fat potatoes- Need I say more
Dessert
Apple Souffle with ice cream – this was delicious, the top incredibly soft and fluffy. As we delved down into the soufflé however it was quite moist, which wasn't a terrible thing, but was surprising. Personally would have liked it slightly fluffier than it was. But delicious all the same
Cheesecake with pandan and ice cream – this was phenomenal!! Would definitely come back to this place just to eat this again. I have attached a video of this amazing dish. The dome was made of white chocolate and when it was cracked, delicious cheese oozed out. Eating the cheese on its own shared a strong and pungent flavour which surprised us a little. The combination of flavours from the white chocolate, cheese, pandan, cake and ice cream however was amazing. The flavours just worked, felt like something off masterchef.
The restaurant also provides a free appetiser which was a puff pastry ring quite tasty and a nice touch. Additionally we received a palate cleanser before dessert- which was theatrical in its own right. It was white chocolate mousse in a bowl on top of another bowl containing elderflower water and some liquid nitrogen. An excellent effect and added to our overall dining experience.
This venue is a place that thinks about the little things. For example the ability to sit next to each other at the table rather than across from each other. A small padding underneath the table cloth so that when you put down your cutlery it doesn't make a noise. The rolling drinks trolley providing table service and the vibe of a roving bar.
A great venue, perfect if you're wanting something special. Will definitely come back to the point at some point :)

We have been a bit over the top and have been here three times in the last three months 😅 First time we came here due to a generous good food dining voucher and after a nearby conference, we decided to go all out on the degustation menu which was way too much food for us. When we first looked at the menu, we were very disappointed when we realised the beef tasting platter was no longer there due to a change in management. However, the manager was very accommodating to change one of the tasting dishes to a similar steak dish which we were very pleased about. Overall, we had such a pleasant dining experience and we thought the dishes were beautifully done and well thought out. The restaurant is nicely spaced out, so each dining table was quite separate to others so no other conversations could be heard. Plus, all tables had spoilt views of the lake. On our return, we decided to go for the 3 and 4 course options instead which was the right amount for us as all dishes were generously portioned. Even though two of us went for the 3 course without the dessert, we still got a dessert so we weren't left gawking at the other person who was enjoying their dessert as their 4th course! Overall, we mutually agreed the king salmon confit, crab tortellini in pumpkin bisque, and the wallaby dishes were the highlights. Oh, and the freshly shucked oysters are a must! One of the best we've ever had at a fine dining restaurant. I think the service can be a bit awkward at times but I do feel for a fine dining restaurant for where it's beautifully located, the generously sized portion of dishes are really good value for money as a 3 or 4 course option. Highly recommended for a special occasion :)
Love steak??? Love a view???? Love a nice wine???? But hate saving money!!!!!
This place is amazing, very expensive!, but leaving to the car park the price doesn't seem as bad, 2009 when I visited two people steal and 2 glasses of wine $90 a head, we ordered item that took 1.5hrs to arrive and it was still to this day best slow cooked meat I've eaten!!
Once a year!! Yes!!!
Totally amazing! Well done
The service and the atmosphere were lovely. We had the 3-meal course over dinner, and were impressed by the quality of the food. I enjoyed the wagyu beef special, and the chocolate biscuit for dessert. However when the bill came, we were quite surprised by the price of the water! We were offered still water or sparkling water, but didn't know that we would be charged for the still water. Should have asked for tap water instead. Really enjoyed the experience though.
The Point provides an amazing dining experience with good food and wonderful views of the lake. This is a place worth considering for anniversaries and other special occasions.
This has been my most favourite restaurant for awhile until I find the price to be getting more and more expensive, been many times however last time I went I thought the fish & steak were both unremarkable. The view is stunning!
I like the easy going fine dining atmosphere here. Staff are attentive without being overbearing.
The food is delicious. I had a spanner crab entrée which was fresh. The chicken was moist and tasty. Dessert was very nice in particular the cherry cold nougat. It was sweet with hints of tartness.
I had one of my best experiences recently at The Point. In the past, I have been indifferent to my experiences there, but tonight was a completely different and very enjoyable experience.
I went with two of my regular dining company, with whom I dine regularly. Unfortunately I arrived a little late and the other two were well into their pre-dinner drinks by the time I got there. However, that made little difference to me as I sat back and enjoyed an excellent Glenfarclas 25yo whisky. There is not a lot, in my opinion, that can better this particular Scotch whisky.
The ambience of The Point is excellent, plenty of room and diners are not sandwiched in, which is a pleasant change.
The menu is in itself very interesting with a wide selection of courses. For my entree I chose the Foie Gras, the presentation of which was superb. I could not fault it in any way and, quite apart from the presentation being excellent, it was superb.
Each of us enjoys a good steak. So it was no coincidence we chose the Wagyu steak, accompanied by beef fat potatoes and other accompaniments. Each of us could not speak highly enough about the quality of the steak and the way in which was presented. It was certainly amongst the best steaks I have had for quite some time. I would be very happy to repeat the experience anytime.
All this was washed down by a very pleasant bottle of Yarra Yering Underhill 2006. This complimented the steak perfectly and we could not of ordered better for the meal.
Portion control is adequate, we certainly did not go hungry.
Wait staff were particularly attentive and very clear in their ability to explain precisely what we could expect when our meals arrived.
It was good value for money, at least for the meal. I must admit the wine cost added another dimension, but that’s of our own choosing and no fault of the restaurant.
As I mentioned the start, it was one of the best experiences I have had at The Point and as a result of this I will be only too pleased to return in the not too distant future. I thoroughly recommend it to readers as a special place to dine.
My favour steak restaurant in Melbourne! Must try the degustation menu!! We went for the 3 courses today, at 85 per head, amazing dining experience as always, thanks to all friendly and helpful staff, the restaurant is very accommodating for little one as well. Oh please forgive me for the quality of some photos... We couldn't help but start on our food the moment it arrived, without me taking photos ahead, oops, but I guess that shows how appetite each dishes make you feel. Strongly recommend to try!
Only been here once and it was great. You get the feeling this isn't a place which lets its standards slip. The service was top class at every point. Every dish we had was outstanding and I ordered the Blackmores Wagyu Porterhouse. At $120 you expect it to be decent. I missed my chance to try this steak at Rockpool so when the opportunity presented itself here, I took it. The wagyu +9 marble just melted in the mouth. Would I have it again, not really. I just can't justify paying that much for a steak again but it's just something you need to experience once.
We were presented with a couple of sample dishes which were complimentary.
The Sommelier also invited is to the cellar since I was interested in his collection however time did not permit us to do so.
The weather was overcast and cold so we couldn't really enjoy the views. You need to go here at least once.
Brilliant! Ordered the Blackmores Wagyu steak. Best steak I've had in my life. Highest quality of meat I've ever consumed. Although it came with a hefty price tag, it was well worth it. The dining experience was simply wonderful, topped off by the beautiful views of Albert Park Lake.
I had been to The Point many times before, over the years, for business lunches and they never failed to impress. This time I took my wife for our anniversary so I was curious to see how they were travelling with new management and how we would enjoy it for a special occasion. I had mentioned that it was our anniversary when I booked and they had obviously taken note and made every effort to make the occasion special. The service was outstanding and the food which we ordered off the lunchtime express list was superb. Their wine list is, as I remembered it, very long and interesting. The meal was finish off with a complimentary plate of petite fours embellished with Happy Anniversary wishes.
We had a great anniversary lunch at a great restaurant.
Went there for our wedding anniversary, great night. Service was amazing as was the view. Food was good but a tad overpriced for what we had. Overall tho, worth the experience
Open for over a decade, The Point has recently undergone a radical and exciting transformation aimed at elevating it well above its roots as a premium steakhouse. Sommelier and Restaurant Manager, Joseph Griffiths and Executive Chef Andy Harmer have been charged with the responsibility of bringing The Point to the forefront of fine dining in Melbourne and refocusing this institution on contemporary and creative cuisine, premium wines and seamless service. And based on our recent tasting, this transformation is well underway. The current menu impresses and surprises with elegant dishes of flawless execution which showcase seasonal, local ingredients - and perhaps a few artisan ingredients from our friends overseas.

The overall experience was just as good as some of the better experiences that I had the pleasure of having at Vue de Monde when it was on Little Collins Street and knowing Bryan, he no doubt has a long list of tasks to continuously improve this restaurant and I suspect that the lost hat will be quickly found this year.
Oh boy I'm getting hungry thinking about it now! For starters, we had amazing crusty bread with creamy goats cheese with truffles and rich butter. If I left after the bread, I would already be happy. For entree we had a wonderfully hearty green pea and ham hock soup. It came with little gruyere croutons that reminded me of a luxurious chinese donut. I used the croutons to shamefully wipe up all my soup. Fine dining shmining, I'm not gonna leave a single drop of a delicious soup behind! Then, our mains came. A generous pile of golden roast chick

MoMo & Coco's Guide to Melbourne's Best Souffles - the Chocolate Raspberry and Apricot Souffle at The Point
The winning dish for me was the Poached egg, white polenta and black truffle but overall the lightness of the “New” technique is what I want to eat – Doctors orders.
As for the food? The overall menu feels the same with some tweaks. The entree of roasted quail & braised leek had lots of things going on and most importantly the star of the dish, the quail, was perfect. Crispy skin, tender meat and perfectly presented quail paired with the braised leeks showed plenty of finesse and clever
The orange souffle with chocolate icecream is incredibly light, with the vital airy egg white texture. Adding to this are slight wisps of orange perfume and scattered shavings of orange, making for a delightful and impeccable spring-time dessert.
We dined at The Point in Albert Park on a night that featured the faux-Summer phase that Melbourne has been going through for the past few months. I don't mind so much as I can't handle the intense heat that typical Melbourne summers experience and the dreary weather still did not falter the incredible view that The Point offers. My dear A's birthday was the occasion and it was a lovely setting to celebrate his birthday. After perusing the menu, we settled on sharing a few entrees to start with. We were also presented with complimentary Amuse Bouches of Cured Salmon with Orange foam. With speckles of black salt sprinkled over the foam, it created a nice balance of salty and sour flavours to compliment the Salmon. This was a great way to start off the night. Cured Salmon with orange foam The Scallop tartare was placed in front of us while the waitress poured a warm rich cosomme around the plate. I would have prefered to have larger pieces of scallop instead of in tartare form as the fla
