Lovely setting with a beautiful ambiance. We enjoyed the arancini and the pesto gnocchi, food was delivered to the table swiftly and it tasted like real authentic Italian food. The wine list is great and we enjoyed a bottle of wine together!

Every neighbourhood has a restaurant just like Basilico. The token pizza and pasta place that caters to everyone, and serves as the default place to head to when one can't decide where or what to eat. You know you can't go wrong when you dine there, and you also know that you will be getting a humble and fuss-free meal.
While there weren't many dine-in customers on a chilly weekday night, Basilico was doing a roaring trade in deliveries. Yet that did not compromised the waiting time for the food. We shared the Basilico Special Pizza, Pollo Valentino, Fettuccini Marinara and Arancini to share amongst the 3 of us.
The pizza was definitely the standout dish. The crust was the right denseness to satisfy both fans of thick or thin crust, and it was soft and crisped around the edges. A generous serve of toppings made this pizza a pleasure to eat.
A decent amount of seafood mix was also interspersed between the fettuccini, and the flavourful Bianco Marinara sauce make for a light and delicious dish.
The Pollo Valentino was drenched in a delectable and rich cream sauce, but the grilled chicken was a bit dry. The Arancini was also let down by dryness, but there is no denying its crunchy golden crumbs.
Basilico - the friendly neighbourhood restaurant that fills you up with inexpensive and tasty food.

Decent service and the pizza were light and not oily. I ordered the mexicana and my partner had the vegetarian with chicken .
The base wasn’t as soft as I would have liked it to be but it wasn’t bad either .
What I definitely won’t get again is the calamari. It cost $18 and there’s 5 little pieces that came out with some dipping sauce 😒
Awesome venue, the staff are always attentive and the quality of food and portions are spot on, always enjoy coming here. Probably the best pizzas in the area and are definitely not stingy with the ingredients
Got takeaway pizza and really enjoyed it. The vegetarian options were great and tasted as good as they sounded. Garlic bread was the old fashioned squishy bread type with lots of garlic butter which I quite like, but some people might not.
Fantastic service from staff who went above and beyond. Also the food was great. We ordered two pizzas which were topped with fresh ingredients and reasonably priced considering they were made in a wood fired oven.
Kate and I went for walk and on the way home dropped in here as she felt like spaghetti. Inside and out there was not a spare table insight. A friendly waitress approached us outside and offered to find us a table which she did within a minute.
Kate ordered spaghetti and I was undecided so the waitress taking our order suggested the salmon special which she said was one of the best dishes on the menu. The salmon was brilliant coming with a side of veggies and potatoes. Kate said her spaghetti was fresh, flavoursome but not the best she's had.
This restaurant does what it does extremely well. Offering delicious fresh food, friendly and professional service in a warm and relaxing environment.

We dined at basilico tonight, a nice night forms walk and dinner.
Looking in the window of this casual restaurant, not an empty table in sight, and true to form I thought let's give it a go, not only sample the good , test the customer service.
Flat out they all were, however , table 9 was ours :)
We ordered :
2x glasses prosecco sparking
Entree arancini balls ( comes in a dish of 4 with salad)
Herb focaccia ( sprinkled with flaked salt and chili oil)
Mains, veal metetriana schnitzel
And veal tortellini.
Service was good and timely for a very busy time of the evening, the staff were on the move the entire time, smiles and always checking if we needed anything.
Every meal we ate was just better than the previous , delicious , tasty, well presented and enough to feed the best of eaters!
It's a little noisy, however it works, we did not have to raise our voices to each other to communicate. The smell of the logs burning in the back ground from the wood fire over really did add to the cozy atmosphere .
To finalize our meal a cappuccino. Not the best, and definitely not the worst I've had - Genovese was the brand. They also have outdoor eating , this will be great in a warm night with a wine and good company.
Good value at $80, this one will be going into the favorites.
This is a family friendly restaurant in one of the best locations. Nancy and I have had nice pizzas here as well as various pasta dishes and starters. It's a nice night out but don't expect red carpet service or high end Italian. It's just a nice, warm place to visit on a typical Melbourne winter evening.

Service was great very attentive the garlic bread was really tasty and a generous serve. The garlic prawns were cooked perfectly with great flavour. The calamari was cooked perfectly although could do with more seasoning (didn't have a prominent salt & pepper flavour) good prices extensive menu the pizzas looked great which will try next time!
We had a delicious dinner at Basilico. It started with garlic bread which looked a little burnt but actually tasted really good. My partner and I decided to share a pizza and mixed seafood grill. They weren't really meant to go together but it all worked out okay. The seafood was lovely although the rocket salad was overly plain and would have been better if it included some shaved Parmesan or tomato. The pizza was delicious. We sampled several different offerings from the wine list as well and there was not a dud amongst them. They were all delicious - the Vasse Felix Sauvignon Blanc Semillion being my favourite. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall we had a great night out. I'd happily return.
Dined here with 2 others on a busy Saturday evening. We ordered garlic bread followed by mix fish grill, ortalana pizza and lasagne. The service was generally good however our pizza was mistakenly brought with the garlic bread. Many apologies provided by wait staff, they seemed mortified! Anyhow the food was magnificent. The staff are friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere.
When Summer starts to appear and we all want to get outside and sit in the sunshine with a cold glass of wine and some good food you start to explore all your old local haunts and remember why you loved them so much. Basilico is certainly one of those and just a stones throw from our home, you (or we!!) can enjoy traditional pasta, pizza and good old Italian hospitality. On a perfect sunny Sunday evening we rock up and there isn’t a table free – that’s when you know it’s good and we are out too early with all the families enjoying their dinner. Not to worry there is a table outside and the heaters are coming on as the sun sets, quickly given water, menus and a bottle of very reasonably priced Riesling and you can just sit back and relax – Happy Sigh!
Fantastic dining experience! Warm ambience, reasonable prices and quick service. Ordered from the vegetarian menu: the giggio's pizza- minimalistic approach to flavour but less really was more, quite enjoyable. Also ordered the Salvatore pizza- lots of flavour very delicious! These 2 pizzas along with a side of chips and the ciabatta bread was enough for 5 hungry people.
Delicious! Group of friends popped out for dinner and found this place! Delightful eatery!! We ordered ciabatta bread with oil and balsamic, hot chips and two gourmet pizzas!! We ordered the Giggios and Ortolana wood fired pizzas. The Giggios was a tad bland - especially after eating the Ortolana. A bit too much pepper sprinkled in the middle of the pizza as well. The Ortolana was great! The right amount of ingredients with really good flavours. Service was great! Food came out really quickly. Very happy!

Thanks for amazing mothers Day!. We went there on Mothers day there was 22 of us, all the meals and pizzas came out at the same time unlike other places. Great service, Great Food now i wonder why this place is always packed.
Best Pizza in the Area!. Tried it when it first opened (maybe 8 years ago?) and wasn't impressed. Tried it again on a whim recently and was happily surprised! Delicious!

Italian at its best!. Loved this place. Had dinner here tonight. We started with the archini (rice balls) and they were divine! We followed that with their wood fire pizza. We had 2 pizzas, one soprossa and one with the lot. Both amazing.... Then the desert was delicious - chocolate moose..... Will go back!
Great Pizza!!. Come here quite a bit, often dine in with friends or get some pizza takeaway. The food is great quality and the customer service is exceptional.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Italian/Greek Restaurant.
Great food, friendly staff. Went for a pre-Xmas work lunch with about 10 people. Really friendly staff. We shared a number of entrees and had a main course each. Food all good except a couple of the steaks were overdone. Everyone else enjoyed their pasta and seafood and my veal was delicious. Would visit again. Good atmosphere.
Excellent. After staying at Albert apartments for 7 days ,enjoying going to tennis long days . We would phone our order through pick it up on way home which was great. The best part of this restaurant was the FOOD 'OMG' what can I say with a husband that cooks all the time and I would complain if we would go out for dinner as it was never nice. But I think I have found equal or even better than what he cooks Thank you soooooo much for your delicious meals over the past week. Next time I in Melbourne I ll will be back !!!!!!!
Great calamari salad!. Beautifully cooked calamari....salad perfect size and mix of salad greens....beautiful seasoning....this visit...l was impressed.
Great wood fired pizzas, big range of pizzas too. Small, not really imaginative pasta list, but with a wood fire pizza oven why get anything but pizza? The gnocchi is divine! Pillowy soft.
Best Pizza in Albert Park!. I had a pizza at Basilico on Friday night and it was exceptional. Job well done!

Really great. Had the Salmon pizza. Really amazing! The medium size pizza was more than enough. Try the Ciabbatta bread. Had the dessert choc/strawberry pizza - probably a bit much considering we'd had a pizza for mains. The dessert pizza was still out of this world.
While this restaurant is not 'fine dining', it is definitely above par in ambiance. I noted that there was a famous Australian actor and well known footballer in the restaurant at the time of our visit....so it can't be half-bad!
Nice honest Italian food, just like mums cooking! Can not fault the food but the service could be a lot better.
The two times I have been there the place has been empty and it makes you question the quality of their food and service. How wrong we were! I had a primavera risotto - the best I have ever had. Pizzas are top notch too. First time service was not good. The waiter forgot our salad. The second time it was better. Don't really like the setting nor the music, but that's just me. Do check it out.
Not as good as it used to be. I moved away from the area a while ago and recently came back to Basilico for a good feed. I had the pizza I usually order and it was a lot oilier than I remember. My companion thought the arancini were good but that the main dish (veal) left a little to be desired. While it's a good family resturant - rather boisterous on weekends, for authentic Italian I'd go elsewhere. For pub food, go across the road.
Dessert Pizza. Recently went back to Basilico with some friends and the chocolate dessert pizza was even better than we remembered!! It is absolutely delicious and a real delight on the tastebuds!! Perfect dessert to a nice meal.
Best meal I've had in a while! We had arancini, pizza and the rib eye (which was awesome) washed down with a delicious red. Great food great service will be returning!

My dinner at Basilico was sensational. I had the eye fillet steak and it was orgasmic. Coupled with a beautiful red, casual yet friendly service and a modern bustling atmosphere, I had a wonderful evening with Basilico. Perfect for groups of friends, family or lone diners wanting a quality meal.
Fantastic!! I've been eating here since it opened and have never had a bad experience or bad meal EVER!!!! Menu has something for everybody and everything is cooked perfectly everytime
Can't go too wrong here! Large menu selection with all the regular favs done well,pizzas are good with fresh ingredients. Staff are friendly and helpful. Byo wine and there is a good bottle shop right next door. Prices are affordable. Perfect!

Consistently great pasta!!!. This is not the type of place you go if you expect the staff to woo you with excellent customer service. It's very casual, reasonably priced, always busy (book if you want to go during the weekend) so we love going there for a quick bite during the week or takeaway. The pasta is excellent and consistent which is great as we often pickup our favourite pasta dish as takeaway. If you like Italian cuisine, the food at Basilico is consistently tasty with excellent portion sizes!

Great Food Great Service!. Great Pizza, Pasta and a terrific selection of top quality Italian favourites. Great value, this is the default venue of choice when I go out with my young family, always very family friendly very hard to beat. Terrific friendly efficient service, I get here as much as I can. If you are looking for a great casual inexpensive meal in a friendly stress free welcoming environment anytime, do yourself a favour and give these guys a try. Gets 5 stars from me!
Warm and welcoming. A very nice Aussie version of a fine Italian restaurant. The main called "Involatini Devolini" which in true ocker decorum I referred to as "The meal from Hell" was very delicious, very rich and very fullfilling.
You wont be dissapointed. Have had 2 meals here and both were great. A place I would recommend. Reasonable in price and good value for money.
Staff are a little sloppy...but otherwised enjoyed my meal on both occassions.
Would go back and would recommend this place for others to dine at.

Basilico is my default choice for a great, inexpensive night out. The pizzas are delicious, very fresh with lovely, crusty bases. There is a large selection of mains, all very good value. The chicken parma is perfect for a Sunday lunch, especially after a late Saturday night. The wine list, though small, is very good and well priced. The best part of the Basilico experience is the service. The wait staff are not only lovely, but very efficient, despite how busy they can get. Do try it!
Great service, despite being very busy. Food arrived in a timely manor. And it was very nice. Great garlic bread too. Would go here again for sure. Nice local Italian restaurant.
Honest proper pizza. Thin crust, proper ingredients, no shortcuts. Haven't dined in - to me, it's just a great local pizza takeaway. A cut above the norm yet shy of being outstanding. The sort of place you're glad is your local.
Outstanding Pizzeria. Basilica has no great pretensions of being in the upper echelon of Melbourne's (or even Albert Park's) top Italian restaurants. However if you are after a good pizza, you won't find too many much better. It's very popular, particularly with families and children's parties, so a booking at Basilico on weekends is advised. Other dishes on the menu are kid friendly but really just "so so".
