Review Hapsburg Empire - Albert Park

First time visit during lockdown. Love the place with plenty parking spaces around, friendly staff and tasty coffee, great place for meeting friends after lockdown. Will definitely return ~

Just discovered this little cafe and really like it. It’s a lovely cozy space, staff are really friendly, food was delicious and didn’t take too long to get and the hot chocs are amazing. Little on the expensive side, but will definitely be coming back!

I come here often for lunch and it’s always great, today was no exception! I haven’t had anything from here that wasn’t delicious- my favourite are the pork and lamb toasties, and the chai here is not just a drink, it’s an experience. Outdoor seating is great too with cushions available, and on sunny days they open the big windows which is really cool. The staff are generally great too, always up for mad bants. The one thing stopping this review from being 5 stars is that sometimes they take a while to bring your food or coffee, especially when it’s busy, but honestly unless you’re in a hurry it’s really worth the wait! Toilets available: yes Wheelchair accessible: no

Beautiful place, fresh breads and pastries. Coffee is great especially when Christian makes it 👌

Such a pretty little cafe! I am sure a lot of kiddies would like to visit. In spite of that (or perhaps because of that), they don’t actually have any high chairs. They are also counter service, and have to get your own water, which makes it extremely hard when you have two young kids with you. We ordered some babycinos for the kids and they enjoyed those thoroughly. They were extremely accommodating when I wanted to change my croque madame to a fried egg instead of a poached egg. The meal overall was enjoyable, it’s just the overall experience of having to self-serve is a bit annoying.

I've lived in the Albert Park area for a long time and somehow only just in the past few weeks managed to try this place and OMG it's excellent. The breakfast menu is fantastic and the pre-prepaired lunch foods on off are really beautiful good coffee and friendly staff you can be assured I'll be back

Not just a cafe, it's a legendary cafe. The food is seriously delicious and artisan in its presentation. The staff are fast, charming and genuinely nice. Great location and perfect for a long lunch (out of lockdown) or a quick takeaway bite.

Personal service, pleasant atmosphere, plenty of newspapers, on shared table

My wife and I called in here for a quick lunch. She had eggs in some sort of tomato sauce (which tasted as bad as it sounds). Ok maybe we ordered badly but it came with a blackened piece of burnt bacon on the side which should never have left the kitchen. I had the Croque Madame which consisted of a small piece of ham smothered in undercooked white sauce. Will not be back.

Delicious food, great coffee. Wonderful take away bread and pastries. Fabulous service!

An example of the great service: Went in to get my weekly coffee & baguette on a Saturday morning (to make breakfast at home), unfortunately they were already sold out but the team went out of their way to find one (which they had out back to make sandwiches) and gave it to us - saving the day!
Mango Queen
With a name like Hapsburg Empire, one could be forgiven for thinking that it might be a decadent European tea-room, serving sacher torte and suchlike. But this is Albert Park, home to yummy mummies, the retired and affluent, and their Labrador dogs. Unfortunately, the coffee here is bland, and the toasties are very stodgy, with minimalist fillings, and the service is less than friendly. Could all waitstaff take note: patting customers' dogs and then handling plates of food and cups of coffee is not exactly observing Health regulations.

Thankyou Hapsburg! Our local for breakfast, brunch, lunch and an Aperol Spritz on a sunny afternoon. Specials board and seasonal menus keep eating interesting. We had the smoked salmon on rye, perfectly cooked steamed egg and pickle. The space is light and embracing. On sunny days the tilt windows are opened onto bridport street bathing the room in a gorgeous glow. If you can nab a table in the corner window on the banquette you will never want to leave - keep drinking great coffee and chill.

Not great....In all respects. Not much that was redeemable to justify a visit unfortunately. Give your money to something else more worthwhile. Sorry.

This cafe has slowly gotten better and better over the past few months having lifted their game. Once a quite place for brunch , it’s now packed and you sometimes struggle to get a table straight away. Food is prepared fresh and the menu board changes regularly. Great coffee and quick friendly service. Today I had the corn fritters with ham and tomato relish. A great breakfast or lunch spot with an outside pet friendly area. One of my favourite local spots

Very pretty (pink) cafe that I visited on Saturday with 2 friends for brunch (when we couldn't get in to a new place - 25 min wait). Coffee order was taken at the table but food order had to be given at the counter. Coffee was pretty good. I had baked eggs - strangely watery & way too much capsicum. Friends had scrambled eggs (good) & mushrooms (bit oily). So a mixed bag.

Nice cafe, friendly service and food pretty good. Had the baked eggs dish which was pretty tasty and something a bit different. Coffee was not the best though.
The Go Go Mumma
Enroute to the library, we came upon Hapsburg Empire, naturally My mini and I had to pop on in to try it's offerings plus it was time for Mini's daily ritual (a baby chino) Their all day menu is extensive as is their drinks menu, a plus in my book.

I was tempted to sample one of their daily specials - a slow cooked lamb shank on barley risotto with steamed baby sprouts.. Meaty fall off the bone, melded melt in your mouth goodness. Just what was needed on a cold Melbourne morn!

The service was sufficient enough, the staff smiled at appropriate intervals but I can't say they were overly friendly or chatty. However, none the less I'd still revisit this little hot spot not to mention the non stop footfall it's a pretty popular spot with the locals.
The Cafe Queen
Very friendly staff and a nice assortment of well made food.

Typical ambience is being sat surrounded by activewear-bound, gossipy housewives native to Albert Park. Typically seen pushing their bugaboo prams with Cavoodle/ at heel.

I take particular relish in lighting up a ciggy upwind.

Checked out the Hapsburg Empire in Albert Park on a Saturday afternoon recently. I had the smashed avo with mini tomatoes, goats curd, eggs, coriander and siracha. It was quite nice, love the touch of coriander!
Split The Bill
Old school milkshakes, giant cookies, delicious chai lattes and more at this gorgeous cafe in Albert park. The deco is very girlie with pink walls and floral plates on the wall. Great range of treats, sandwiches, salads and drinks on the menu.

Don't know about your tastes Nathan but Christian and his crew have some of the the best coffee and certainly some of the best food going in cafes around about. Christian's wife and partner is a brilliant and inventive cook with daily taste delights, the staff are great and the corner spot a winner. Lori

It's a cute venue with plenty of outdoor seating. Coffee is ok but nothing to write home about. Didn't have time for food but the menu didn't really Juno out at me.

Been here a couple of times now whenever I'm feeling like a chocolate milshake- it has become my go to place. However every time I am there I end up buying some food since everything in the display looks so appetising! And I was not wrong, from what I have had so far the food is great, the goat curry pastie is a personal favourite. Definitely a place to stop by.

This place is cute and very pink. I love the giant communal table with lots of natural sunlight coming in. Happy with my soy latte and multiple copies of newspapers to read.

Went for breakfast today, coffee was terrible warm and too weak) and the food was over priced won't recommend this place too any one else very disappointed.

Very rarely a week goes by and we don't make a visit to Hapsburg Empire - the owner and staff are great and very friendly, and the food is sensational - The menu always has 20 things you could easily eat, the sandwiches in the fridge are 👌(get yourself the pulled pork sandwich!) and the beverages/coffee are awesome.
Love this place, thanks guys keep it up.

Turned up this morning (Saturday) and this place was BUSY. All tables taken so we sat at the large communal table for our morning tea. The great thing about the table was the supply of newspapers. The place had a lovely buzz about it and a positive vibe. The almond croissant was large and tasty and the coffee was excellent. Service was good too and even though they were quick to clear away empty plates we didn't feel that we were being rushed out. The breakfast options looked great too. I would happily return.
World In A Bite
Nice cafe and friendly service... Sadly the foods were average.. And coffee (double shots) tasted very watery 😞... My fritters were soft and bland... Maybe it depends on your likeness , I like mine crispy.

Fantastic smashed avocado, proportionately the right amount of avocado to toast and fetta. Nice breakfast menu - staples with a twist. Great area to sit outside when the weather is nice.

Lunch was loverly. I chose the burrito with egg, avo, pinto beans and tomatoes, my bud had salad. The clean attractive well prepared and healthy was delish as was the coffee. Recommend.

Ordered a simple ham cheese tomato croissant which was yuck. Service was quite slow, and they kept delivering things we didn't order to our table. We ended up with an extra tea none of us ordered.

i love bridport st, albert park – it is full of fantastic boutiques + beauty salons, a fantastic pub (a pre-requisite for melbourne), a whole food grocer, deli, fish + chip store and also my favourite burger place (andrews). i can now add ‘great cafes’ to that tried and tested list. hapsburg empire hapsburg empire is located on the bridport + montague st roundabout with gorgeous seating outside (not appropriate for today’s weather unfortunately). inside, the decor is homely + comfortable – beautiful displays of crockery and i loved the tiles on the front counter. i pulled up a seat on the big bench table, where there was plenty of natural light and a huge pile of newspapers

I used to go to Hausfrau in Yarraville and have loved the move over to Albert Park. Always a great vibe, good food and drink! Reliable and local!

Brilliant. Love this place! Friendly staff, love the food and the decor is amazing!

Started work in the area last week and stumbled across this place. Great strong coffee, nice service with a smile, I will be back to check out the interesting menu!

Coffee was over-extracted, underdosed and had no body. Although I had low expectations going in and seeing the Genovese cups, they somehow managed to still surprise, and charged me $5.10 for something they called a 'coffee.' If you're in the mood for a real coffee, and want a real barista making it, I would suggest walking the extra 50m down the road. It'll be worth it. Trust me.

A cosy spot. Having driven past a thousand times i finally headed into Hapsburg Empire for a coffee on a wet and cold Melbourne day. The first thing i noticed upon entering was the cabinet full of amazing looking food. Sandwiches or sweet options both look fresh and tasty, pity i wasn't there for food. The place is rather large inside with great natural light. The seating options are a plenty with a massive communal table, cushioned benches or standard table and chairs. The staff were pleasant and my coffee order was taken while i took a seat.
A big plus was that they had about 10 newspapers for customers to read - I hate it when large cafes have two papers. My large skinny cappuccino arrived and was in a large glass and looked super. With perhaps a little to much froth I wasn't worried as this is my favourite part. At around 12.30pm the place filled up quickly with the lunch rush.
Overall a to spot and worth a drop in for a feed or drink. Although $5.50 for a large coffee is a little pricey.

Consistently perfect coffee. Delicious selection of salads and baguettes for lunch. Plus location is nice.

Only called in for a quick coffee. Great location and nice coffee. Staff could have been friendlier though.
