Review Scarpetta Cucina E Bar - Albert Park

I just had to write a review because the food and service was so great! My partner and I were extremely satisfied with everything and will definitely be back. The pizza crust was delicious and the pasta was my favourite. Definitely found a gem that we will be frequenting.

Food was ok. Veal was too chewy. Didn't taste nice. Pasta tasted more continent than Italian. Was charged extra for cheese shavings . Service was horrible. The girls didn't know any answer when questioned about the menue or anything. They had to call the owner everytime to confirm. Hand-made Ice cream as dessert was the bestt! Not going back. Heaps of other good restaurants to try.

It was extremely quiet when we got there so it felt really awkward. I thought the pasta was just ok, very underwhelming for the price.

Very disappointing. Ordered a Quattro formaggi pizza for $26 but it just tasted like a super oily pizza with one melted cheese on top of it. For this price, you would expect way better than this… Service was good but the price is way too much for what’s being served.. Gluten free pasta was not cooked properly. Raised with the management but they just dismissed by saying it might take a bit longer to cook it. Clearly weren’t happy to serve a well cooked dish Never going back again.

Amazing food, exceptional staff, great choice of whiskeys and my mother and the girlfriend where suitably satisfied to say the least. My second time here as only recently opened. Very highly recommended. Will certainly be back! 💪🙏❤️

Found this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a go. WORST decision ever!! The one star would be for the politeness of the staff. Unfortunately when you go to a restaurant you expect to be rating the quality of the food and that was inedible. We ordered the cotoletta which was a tiny piece of schnitzel, not the cotoletta listed on the menu!! When questioned the manager said they had problems with getting it so they substituted it with the schnitzel. He offered to bring me a larger piece which was so tough I had to spit it out. I had a few mouthfuls and left the rest on the plate. Chicken breast ordered was raw at its thickest part and so dry it was inedible. I asked to see the flounder which was on the menu and the waiter brought out a stiff frozen fish! Needless to say I didn’t order that! How were they going to cook that? It was frozen!! It was also very difficult to communicate with the waitress whose English was very poor. Couldn’t answer my questions. Not to mention that as the restaurant was rather empty, the staff stood across from us and stared at us eating the whole night. Should’ve followed my gut instinct and left before we even started, but I always like to give businesses a go. Do yourself a favour and do not go to this place. Overpriced and poor quality food. My dog wouldn’t be able to chew that piece of veal! Even when they saw that most of the meals were left on the plate, they didn’t offer to discount or take the food off the bill. Will definitely not be going there again and I do not recommend anything about it. Even the photos on the website are not what you get served. Probably the worst dining experience of my life!!!!

Very friendly and fun staff. Great food, pizza was awesome and a lovely chianti. If you want really nice Italian in a relaxed atmosphere give it a go. Cheers.

RANT WARNING Terrible experience. Got there at 7:30pm to a quiet restaurant and were told there was no pizza bases (at a pizza restaurant). Head waiter told us there are gluten free pizzas. When asking him what they taste like we are advised that he has never eaten them and that the bases are in the freezer...not the sort of quality you would expect from an expensive italian restaurant. The service was lacklustre. The staff were incompetent. The food looked nothing like it did on the website. 2 disappointing hours I will never get back - do not step foot in this joke of an establishment.

One of my favourite restaurants! My wife and I come here regularly and it is truly incredible. Cocktails are to die for!

This is some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten and I know my Italian food trust me! The ingredients are of the highest quality for both dine in and takeaway! They nail it from the service to the food consistently. This place deserves a much higher rating than what they average on here!! Leaves all the other Italian restaurants in the area of dead.

I came here with friends and ordered:
- Calamari Fritti
- Penne A’matriciana
- Fettucine Alla Panna
- Risotto Alla Mantovana
- Margherita Pizza
- Pizza Special - pumpkin/olives etc.

Overall service was attentive, friendly and efficient.
However, the dishes were mostly average. The Calamari had soggy batter and a small serving size for the “main”. Penne was bland and didn’t have much spice. Fettucine was one of the better dishes we ordered, nice and flavourful. The risotto was okay - good flavours. They didn’t go wrong with the Margherita which was up to standard. The pizza special wasn’t to my taste and I didn’t really enjoy the flavour combinations - this is my personal preference however, others at the table did enjoy it.

Went with a table of nine and from the feedback , everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
I on the other hand have dietary issues and I ordered the eggplant parmigiana.
Not the best... a watery bowl with mostly zucchini and and inch of mozzarella..
I gave it a four as meals from pasta, gnocchi and pizza eaten by others were adored so well done!
I’m just sad I couldn’t enjoy mine!
Btw.. great service too!

Incredible food! Pack venue, great atmosphere, great service. The staff create such an experience, they help with food selection and wine (even though I don’t know much about it), feels like a traditional Italian restaurant with a edge!! Highly recommend it.

When thinking back to my experience at Scarpetta, the story of Goldilocks and the three bears comes to mind - Scarpetta isn't too fancy, it isn't too casual - it's just right. With staff that make you feel at home from the second you walk through the door, this Italian inspired restaurant in Albert Park serves food which can be described as nothing less than drool worthy.

We attended late on a Friday night . We were sat at a table and the draught in the restaurant was bad enough to put on your jacket. The clumsy waiter told us he was new and when we ordered made us to point to every item on the menu. He poured our wines and they were quite low to say the least and it peaked both of our attention. Another waiter saw me put my jacket on and moved us to another table. This waiter was great friendly, attentive and more than happy to help seeing we weren’t very comfortable. We ordered an Antipasto, Gnocchi Bolognese main and mushroom and pork sausage pizza. The bolognese came out 10-15 mins earlier than the pizza . Lucky we were sharing it didn’t bother us ...but having your two mains arrive at the same time is at the most basic of core requirements for a restaurant..The bolognese was nice but the other two quite average. As we waited for our food we watched the staff run around the place and our initial waiter was awkward as can be with the table next to us. We joked to each other it was like an episode from faulty towers. I ordered another glass of wine specifically from the nice waiter and boy was the size different . Anyways, we finished our meal asked for the bill and the clumsy waiter came back with the bill. Handed it straight to me and ignored my partner. She handed him a card and he said is this your card? She was already uncomfortable that he acted so surprised a woman could pick up a check. He put the figure in the eftpos machine then the tip part came up. He stood over her with an expectation that was so awkward as he watched her and the machine like a hawk...she tipped 10% and grabbed my hand and we walked out quickly knowing that I was about to tell him how inappropriate what he had just done was. We go out all over Melbourne and I don’t often write reviews but this place was a comedy of errors. If you want a Italian in Albert Park go to DOC three doors up the road as this place was a absolute shambles . We tried somewhere new and unfortunately were not rewarded on this occasion

I don't know who rates this below 5. The mushroom pizza was of the best pizza's I've had in Melbourne.

My GF had the risotto and it was also delicious.
Service was great and the wines were solid.

Will be back soon!

Absolutely warm welcome from experiences staff. Fresh produce. Variety of delicious Italian food with a modern twist. Polenta chips are amazing. Gnocchi bolognese entree serve is a very generous serve. Saltimbocca is the best I have eaten. All servings are value for money. Great selection of wines. GF options. Atmosphere and decor is beautiful. Attention to cleanliness and detail. A local gem.

Great warm atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Nice pizza full of flavour with fresh ingredients. Pasta also satisfying. Entree sized pasta was perfect for my two boys aged 6 & 10. We will definitely be back!

Not all pizzas are made equal..those at Scarpetta are a cut above. From the minute you walk into this inviting restaurant your transported to Italy complete with charming staff attentive to your dining needs. Pizzas are generously packed with quality toppings and a few unusual creations adding to the experience. Great wine list and cocktails even the glassware is beautiful. Menu has an extensive selection without it being confusing. Fresh salads and perfectly cooked hot sides accompany rich pasta dishes perfectly. An outdoor dining area great when weather permits, ideal if you book before as there is a constant flow of walkings all hoping to snare a table. We have every intention to keep return and experience more of what this local gem has to offer.
