We went to The Beach for a drink and a boogie. We got the drink but not the dance floor action. It’s obviously been awhile since my glorious youth and they definitely don’t have a dj here at night anymore. We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless due to a well stocked bar and lovely beach sunset views. Great atmosphere
Great service, staff were really friendly and happy to help with our requests. Food was absolutely delicious from starter to desert. The location is great, especially in the summer. Great place for family and friends together I've been back twice.
Chicken parma was sooooo gooooood and very filling, chips are seasoned nicely with a curry powder.... service is very friendly and welcoming. 👍👍 will be better if they allowed dogs in the nice courtyard area .
Wednesday dinner for 4. Beautiful views of the beach from our window seat. Wednesday night's special is buy one main get one free, limited to $30 - a very good deal! The atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and service was good. We ordered paella, garlic prawns, risotto & calamari to share. All the dishes were nice and good portions. Finished with sticky date pudding and cheesecake with coffee. All in all a very good dining experience.

The Beach was a surprise. really comfortable atmosphere with patient staff that helped steer my choice of food to a really nice seafood paella. they have a better than most selection of wines that the staff informed me will be growing over the next few weeks as the cooler months approach. excited for a good red at a good price. there was heaps of room in the venue to bring groups and plenty of furniture to cater for plenty of bodies.
The staff said the new menu has only been running for just over a week which shows in the food. plenty of energy and passion in the food coming from a kitchen at the beach

The backdrop view of the beach stunning, food was delicious, great menu variety, our cocktails menu - delightful! the staff- Sarah, Stephanie, the head chef, lucy and staff were so awesome! helpful, accommodating to all our needs and took a huge part of the stressful planning.

The Beach Hotel was really impressive for a pub meal. I ordered the Seafood Linguine and an amazing bowl with a full crab appeared. There was so much seafood in the bowl the pasta wasn't even required. The tomato sauce was a bit too rich but the seafood was amazing. The kids meal was large and really nice. The atmosphere was lovely, no gaming machine noises or TVs or Keno, which is a nice change. The other meals were also really good although the Atlantic Salmon was a little dry. Prices were also really reasonable.

This week's food adventure is a revisit to a favourite restaurants, that has changed a lot since our first visit a few years ago. The uniforms and service, it's a hit/miss these days, though nothing too bad. There's more dust, but the food has remained as good as our first visit. It's possible that management has changed, but the kitchen hasn't.
It is better than it looks !!. Even if they had us seated in a ' last minute arranged table in the banqueting room', the food exceeded our expectations. The presentation of each plate was exquisite.
The apple and strawberry crumble could be improved, but overall we enjoyed our dinner out!
Dinner + a Spectacular View!. What a venue - so nice. It's massive too. The desserts are exquisite and my Salmon was delish. I can't believe I've never been here before now. What an institution - Melbournites need to indulge here!

Not usually this bad . .. We often dine here and always have a great experience. Last night was the exception. We were one of the first tables in, but over 75 minutes later we still hadnt recieved main course. Lucky we ordered sliders as a small starter. Must have forgotten to call mains away.
When it finally arrived, steaks were well over cooked (well done instead of rare), and the veggies were under cooked. Waitress was actually quite rude, stating that we should understand as the kitchen is backed up and every one has to wait over 45 mins.
The menu was pretty good, and had the steak been rare it would have been worth the wait. The oven baked eye fillet had a stunning tempura poached egg on top and pan seared gnocci. I will return just have that dish again, but cooked correctly. The lamb with risotto cake was also pretty impressive and as always, the best chips in Albert Park.
Manager was apologetic, and refunded the porterhouse that was over cooked and comped a bottle of wine and side salad. Here's hoping it is nota s busy when i return for the eye fillet dish.
Spent the afternoon at the beach good food and friendly service. Nice views, worth a visit for a meal we were really happy with the service.. Be back for sure pub food was good.
Good food for a pub tab. Service was very good although the food took quite a long time to come out. Food was excellent although why are places so skimpy on sauce with steak? Unfortunately it's connected to a TAB which detracts from the feeling of a nice dinner. Great spot for lunch on a nice summers day but would not return for a dinner with the GF.
Chicken parmas!!. Went here couple weeks ago for a birthday, id say go for the chicken parma on the menu that was filling and was good was not dry!
Other stuff on the menu that others ordered that looked good were the seafood calamari. Staff were great and friendly, location wise probably not the best on a cold night but good on a warm night as its opposite the beach as the name says for itself!
Dinner at sunset. The view over the bay is spectacular at sunset and the food here is exceptionally good for a hotel bistro. The steak was flavoursome and the mashed potato was the best I've ever eaten. The pannacotta for dessert was terrific ad it came with a interesting crispy chocolate/chilli wafer. The food was also beautifully presented and service was friendly and attentive. A very nice place indeed.

Been here twice now, both times Sunday lunch. Great waitstaff, really friendly without being over attentive. Loved the shared plates especially the soft prawn taco. Something for everyone, even a very hard to please relative of mine. Great, relaxed. Will definitely return.
We visited the Beach for lunch using a Cudo voucher. The voucher made lunch good value. The food was good. Generous portions and very tasty. Efficient and friendly service. I would happily go back.
We ordered from surprisingly restricted menu not mentioned in our vouchure purchase. However, the steak was a hearty porterhouse cooked to perfection. Excellent red wine jus. Pity about the meager side salad, reminiscent of the 1970s. Thank goodness the mousse was very modern. Magnificent. A multi-textured chocolate sensation. Decadent.

Chocolate mousse better than sex. Had a voucher. We were lucky and had a seat with a view. Not sure what’s going on here, but the weather was good, but the place wasn’t that busy. The menu was restricted which was not mentioned on the voucher. I reckon this is deceptive. You need to be honest about what you’re going to provide. Drinks order taken promptly. Main meals good and steak cooked as requested. But the chocolate mousse was to die for. Better than sex!!!

We went on a deal and it was really good for the price, a groupon, seafood platter. Really really good, not bad at all. There was three of us, so my niece had the kids meals, she is a fussy eater and ate it all up too!.
The service however, was soooo bad. We would have ordered breads, more drinks, and deserts. My point here is, as the meal was so well priced, I would have tipped accordingly. Unfortunately, we were left alone by a male waiter, who really didn't want to be working. My niece even commented on his unfriendliness....No tip here.

Great Place. Great food with such a large variety to choose from to suit the regulars. Been a few times now and never been dissapointed. Delicious!
Awesome. It been a number of months since dining here and cant remember what we had but my boyfriend and i were both very happy with the food and the place itself. Service was exceptional. Will definitely try to get back here again.
Wow is that staff writing that comment below? If so, a bit odd. Anyway. We went here on a voucher and had a main each. I had the wild mushroom risotto. It was really nice but I was a bit sad that they were just boring old cup mushrooms (based on the dish title). Nevertheless it tasted terrific. Partner had the 300g scotch fillet and asked for it medium rare. It come out medium well. Luckily the meat was of high quality and it didn't dry out. The potato served with it was OK, he loved the butter sauce as well but it was a little lacking - a green would have been a welcome edition. I would have liked some cracked pepper for my risotto as well. Overall the food was good, the service exceptional and its a nice location.

Lovely Service & Food. Arriving at 12.30pm for lunch on a Friday, the restaurant was empty save for three others. And so to our advantage we got to choose our place, by the window with the view of the beach across the road.
We started off with drinks, lemon lime bitters, and then I ordered the Eye Fillet, while Carl had the Char Grilled Lamb loin. The eye fillet was very nice, though could have been improved on presentation, with a spring of parsley. Also if it was accompanied by two baby carrots to add veggies. Overall it was lovely and recommended. Meanwhile my friend with the lamb, enjoyed it, though Moroccan cous cous Carl didn't like, and neither did I - though it was just our personal preferences.
Service was very friendly and top standard, which only enhanced the experience of dinning at The Beach - Albert Park. On top of that it's also at a great location, by the sea, with easy access to public transport, from Stop 13 @ Flinders just take no. 1 South Melbourne Beach to the last stop, no.32. Highly recommended for a lunch out with friends or your partner.
Good Value. Solid Pub Bistro food, bought the 3 course voucher which although took a while a redeem (They could not find an availability until the last date of voucher? Place hardly look packed so seem the boss was trying to pull a dodge). Limited menu option with the voucher special, but food offered was popular choices so we didn't mind. Desert plate was the highlight, solid friendly service whom I tipped of course(Not many do when they buy with vouchers which is a shame)

Had a pub lunch burger. It was delicious with a beetroot spread, really tasty pattie with herbs and fresh salad. Very filling and tasty. Great spot on the esplanade.
We celebrated my husband’s 50th birthday here and had the most wonderful afternoon that ran late into the evening! Lunch was amazing and the servings were so generous. All our guests commented on how delicious the food was. All the staff were lovely and attentive and Kate the events manager was super helpful planning the celebration and went above and beyond to make sure the day was special for hubby. Can definitely recommend this venue for a function !

DJ playing late Sunday night out back hidden away.. and what a fabulous little party it was. John corse playing with love sax and bongos. Everyone in the room dancing. What a vibe.

You can spend a long Sunday here in a booth watching footy. Good food and pleasant attentive staff. Pie of the day was great and better than expected.
We booked the Bleakhouse for our best friends Bridal Shower/Hens Day and it was fantastic. Anna and the team were so accommodating in the lead up to the event and on the day, we got to have our own amazing space up stairs with a balcony with amazing views of the bay! The bartender made the most amazing Pimm's cocktails all day, and there was so much delicious food. Would highly recommend!!
The best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Presented as a replica of serving it up in old newspaper, as they did in my youth, with the piėce de résistance of gem pickled onions. Solid fish in crispy yet light batter, with condiments of mashed peas and housemade tartare sauce, which could be eaten by itself on water crackers if you wished. Chaat style skinny chips which held their crispness to the finish. Recommended. 👌
Update late Apr2021: On this visit also had a dessert of Double chocolate cake with poached rhubarb, honeycomb and crème fraiche. Not quite death by chocolate! Rich dark chocolate essence, not sweet, yet light; I was happy that it was not a large piece. Offset by the acidity of the rhubarb, with a smooth, slightly sour finish provided by the crème fraiche. Honeycomb gives just a little sweetness and crunch. Lovely.
Newly refurbished this pub has a new lease of life. The pokes have been pushed back where they belong, into the side bar, making way for the bleakhouse to focus on getting back to what it was once known for.
Great pub food, good atmosphere and friendly staff. With that added bonus of table service and large TVs to watch footy, this has become one of our favourites again.
Oh and they do a yummy burger and chips for $20 👍🏼
