Went to Stella’s last night with a mate and as usual it was a great evening with wonderful food, this is much more than a Pizzeria.
The menu is quite comprehensive with everything from pizza, steak, chicken Parma, warm chicken salad and much more.
It’s also licensed and BYO.
I’d booked a table and was greeted by the ever friendly Ellly one the co-managers, The other manager is Brooke who wasn’t working last night.
Ross the owner has entrusted both Elly and Brooke as managers and they run the place like a well oiled machine.
I had a small pepperoni which was delicious and my friend had the most popular Stella Special which he says is always his favourite and never disappoints.
Very attentive staff and the food as usual is fantastic.
I must say that as we were about to leave we were treated to a real surprise.
The lovely Elly came to our table and simply said you’re not leaving just yet guys, these are ‘on the house’.
She had two Affogato deserts for with a shot of Franjelico for us both. .
This was totally unprompted and really is the epitome of good customer relations.
Elly knows we love Affogato and it was an absolutely lovely gesture.
Stella’s is always a reliable pizzeria and in the fifteen years I’ve been dining there I’ve never been disappointed.
Thank you Stella’s for a great night and again thanks to you Elly for your surprise in the Affogato.

My friend and I came here for lunch on a cold and blustery winters day. It was 12.30pm and the lunch hour was just hitting up. There is a lunch special of $10 for a small pizza or pasta with salad - entree size. But we had the main course size of carbonara and a bolognaise. Portion size was big and filling.
Stella’s is something of an institution for locals and they have two other restaurants in other suburbs - Caroline Springs and Truganina.
One of the lovely moments was watching a senior man come in with a walking stick and looked like he had some other health issues. He was accompanied by what looked like his grandson. They were greeted by a young man (waiter) and they knew each other by name and the waiter graciously escorted them both to a table. That’s what Stella’s is like - it has connection with its customers and that familiarity is warm and generous.
There is an upstairs area as well. I’ve come here on weekends at its just crazy busy - quite the ‘go to’ place. Plus they do takeaway so lots of pizza pick ups.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking either out the front or on the side streets.
Booked here for Sunday night to catch up with a friend. They made the reservation for 4 despite saying 2 but that was no issue. Really busy place but good pizza with a thin base and wood fire taste.
We ordered a tropical to share and bowl of chips which were crunchy. Would've given 5 if the drinks didn't cost $5. However, they do split Bill's which is a bonus
Safe to say this restaurant has the best Lasagna that I have had in the Western Suburbs. Very good location for eating out as well. Usually pasta dishes are not value for money compared to what you can make at home. Cannot say that with the Pasta range here.
The atmosphere is great! The woodfried pizza is the best i have had this year. Very reasonable price. We have been there multiple times already. Diffinatly go check it out.
Every dish here made with quality ingredients, most especially with love. Perfect place for a casual meal. The food comes out very quickly, I was surprised at how delicious it was. Prices were good. If you haven't here you're missing out.

I must say this is probably one of the best pizza places in Altona. I tried it for the first time 2 months ago and was surprised at how delicious it was. The prices were ok and acceptable for what you were given which is a plus. The place is always packed with people so that clearly tells you their food is divine. Would go again.
Thoroughly enjoyed lunch here today with a group of ladies. Very friendly service from all the staff. For a large group of people, I was surprised and very pleased with how quickly our meals came out to us and everything looked and tasted delicious. The lady who took our order, mentioned a lunchtime special of a small pizza and a salad for $10, which we had missed. What a fantastic deal. What a gem of a place, will definitely be back. Keep up the great work everyone.

K: Situated by the backdrop of a beautiful Altona Beach, my family and I found ourselves on the receiving end of some dire cravings for Pizza. With Stella Pizza conveniently located only a few minutes walk from the Pier, we were greet with fond service and were more than ready to smash these cravings.
With wonderful ambience to suite, we ordered the Satay Chicken pizza, Aussie, Spaghetti and a meat lovers pizza. It's strange to admit as I have never been a fan of chicken on pizza, and had preferred ham over chicken on ANY pizza, but I think Stella has changed my mind. The chicken pizzas were simply great. Tasty, easy to consume, with a lighter base not neglecting a generous serving of toppings. What is particular to note is that the pizzas here well and truly perfect the sauces they use, and there is a distinguishable difference in quality between the Pizza's here and perhaps other establishments. The ingredients and overall freshness of each pizza simply make this restaurant a well above average pizza restaurant with food to back it up. The Aussie pizza was my favourite of the day, and the spaghetti pizza was just as you'd expect, pleasantly surprising in enjoyment.
Overall would definitely recommend this restaurant for your pizza needs, easily catering for large families and any occasion!

Always have great service when we come here. Prices are pretty reasonable and the restaurant itself is set out nicely. We always sit outside. Quality of food is also quite nice.

First time at Stella on a Saturday night. Ordered the Traditional Stella Special and Ravioli Carbonara. Food was great! The pizza was flavoursome with decent amount of melted cheese on a soft & crusty dough. Pasta was creamy & tasty! The service was excellent, attentive and friendly staff. Could not find a fault. Definitely recommended!

*take away* New to the area and tried this place as the place we usually go was closed. It was lovely pizza, could of been hotter thou and there wasn't much toppings on the BBQ meat pizza, we loved the BBQ sauce topping thou! Yum🍕 Greek salad was delicious. We ordered two of the ice creams and one was heat effected so all Icey and not editable and for $6 I think it was a bit of a shame. 1 large pizza, Greek salad, 2 ice creams end a small sprite was $40.

Easily one of the best pizza places in Melbourne and personally, it's better than the highly + over-rated places like 400 Gradi. Their Supreme Pizza is by far the best I've had and their Spaghetti Pizza is great too. Fantastic atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend.
Came for the lunch special, 9.00 AUD for pasta or pizza plus salad on a side. Pizza dough was excellent (think american pizza, not Italian) and the Gnocchi super tasty. Delicious food, good prices, nice rustic cafe decor. Would recommend to a friend!
Have been here twice and ordered the Woodfire pizza number 3. Seriously the most delicious pizza I've ever had the pleasure of indulging in. The base was smothered in a garlic, tomatoey sauce that was alive with flavour. They were generous with the roasted vegetables and the intensity of their flavour caused my tastebuds to dance with joy.
It is always busy, but worth waiting for a table. Service is generally good, last time had a girl who was extremely friendly and helpful.
We came to Stella for late lunch on Easter Friday. It wasn't too busy and we were seated inside next to the bar. We were served with the menu straightaway but nobody came to take our order. After speaking to one of the waitress, we were told to order at the counter, that ruin the dining...

I am a long time customer at Stella's and while I must say I have had some hit and miss moments over the years, I always look forward to getting a pizza or chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce.
All the new places and they are all rubbish. Stella still holds altonas. Best value food for me . Pizza and pasta are good it's no 400 gradi but never found a fault with dine in or take away .
Staff are friendly and even recognize regular customer orders . Defiantly our family favorite still . Especially the gnocchi amantticana .

This place has been around for a while. The pizza and pasta is decent. If you want to order take-away on a hot night, be sure you are keen to wait over half an hour. Staff are lovely.
Pier Street has quite many dining options available till late so I decided to check Stella's place as it always seemed like a true Italian style pizzeria.
The venue is spacious compared to other places and quite modern and hip. You can order at the bar or a friendly waitress will approach you in no time. I had a Mexicana that was served within 15-20 minutes while I was enjoying my Cascade Light. The dough was nice, pretty close to an Italian pizza but not quite right. The crust was OK but not breathtaking. The pizza was served on a large metal plate what seems to be a poor Australian standard, a wooden plate would compliment the pizza far better and allow it to breathe properly especially when served super hot (to remove the excessive moist away so that the dough does not turn soggy). Overall not bad but not a fully proper Italian dish though much better than most other American style thick takeaway pizzas available in the neighborhood.
Stellas has always churned out great pizza. Its a little more expensive than the other pizza places around the area, but the more than make up for that with their quality
A good place for a relaxed meal, the food is fresh and appetising and the decor has been refurbished recently and is adequately maintained. The service was friendly and appropriately efficient for a busy Friday night. The price was certainly modest for the good quality food, one of the better places for pizza in Altona. I would consider dining here again in the future.
Great Pizza. We've been here a few times for their pizza. Always great quality ingredients and large portions for a reasonable price. This is our go-to place for lunch when we visit the beach.

The Manager by the name Dianne is very nice and always working hands on with her staff to ensure that the restaurant is running smoothly and making sure she will deliver the best service. Great Pizza. I worked there in the late 90s till 2003 as pizza maker. So Im writing this as a harsh critic. The food was excellent, i had a large mexican pizza and it was cooked to perfection. My girlfriend had the seafood wood fire pizza which is a tough one because seafood can leave the pastry soggy. They nailed it. Both pizza has a great a taste and you can tell they still use the best and freshiest ingredients. Its great to see the standards are still high at this Cafe. Im looking forward to my many more visits to stellas.

We come here all the time with the kids, fantastic food, pizzas are great and they only use fresh ingredients, service is always fast, but I do recommend booking on the weekend as it is always busy and booked out! My husband is extremely fussy with his food, but this place always seems to please!!!!!!

Great Pizzas. We have always found the pizzas and chicken parmas to be very nice. Big Problem is that Stellas does not have an online menu anymore....on occasion I have gone to order from Stellas and wanted to look at the menu and then decided to go with someone else....so yeah, they must be losing customers because of this. Stellas...take note, provide an online menu and get some old customers back. Recently ordered a small hawaiian pizza and noticed it was $1 extra and the chicken parma had gone up from $18.50 to $22.50. Not Happy! Competitor in the same street charges $17.50 for chicken parma and its just as nice, wont be ordering parmas from here again.

Not Bad. Went here and had the Pollo Fungi and a wood fired oven pizza. The Pollo Fungi was really good, but the pizza just didn't have that crispy base and flavour you would associate with a good wood fired oven pizza. I would go to this place again but only to have the Pollo Fungi and maybe a traditional pizza. Prices are very reasonable, the take out prices are their eat in prices. I give this place a 7/10.

Local Beauty!. This is our local pizza place and we love it! the pizza base is nice and crispy (not soggy like all the other places), the toppings are fresh and have a great variety to chose from, wood fire pizzas are amazing! If you don't feel like pizza they also have fish and chicken on the menu, which is very tasty and reasonable in price. Popular place for all ages, staff are really friendly.

Although looking like your average suburban pizza shop this Altona gem does not disappoint. Traditional as well as wood fired pizzas are great, a good choice of excellent pastas that are fabulous. A menu that also delivers schnitzels, steaks, soups and salads. Fully licensed and not super expensive rounds this restaurant out completely.
Great pizza along Pier Street. I love the Capricosa, and the wood fired pizzas are fantastic. Stella is a popular choice most evenings, and there can be a short wait. With the very competitive prices and awesome pizza it's no wonder it's so popular!
I find ringing ahead to be helpful when I'm getting some takeaway. It's popular with pretty much everyone you get in Altona: baby boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z - and yes - even pensioners!
Best Italian I have had in Melbourne. The gnocchi was simple but full of flavour and the woodfired pizza was sublime. And the seafood schnitzel was the best I have had. 10/10

Came here for dinner with my partner. Ordered Risotto and Pappardelle Carbonara. The pasta tasted average and I feel that the bacon in the Carbonara could have been better. The portion size was good though.
Friendly customer service. The place does get busy very quickly so would recommend a booking if you want to sit inside for dinner. The heaters outside only offer so much warmth. I have to come back to try the pizza.
