This Thai eatery serves up delicious Thai food - sweet, spicy, sour and salty! Great as a workplace lunch option, as well as for dinner. Service is generally quite fast, depending on whether they have lots of takeaway/delivery orders.

This is my all time favourite for Friday lunch at work. It has a good ambience, courteous staff and awesome Thai food. Order anything and you wont be disappointed.
Our local Thai place and glad it is. Never had a disappointing meal. Pad Thai, pad med mamuang, pad see ew and green currry are my favourites. Always greeted with a friendly smile.
The tastiest Thai food on this side of the west. You can’t go past the crispy pork belly which is excellent! Deliver is always very quick too. 5/5
The beef in the beef salad was tender, and the sauce was really unique. The green curry was smooth and the level of spiciness was done to our liking.
Our go-to local for thai food. Very unassuming cafe in a suburban strip of shops at the food of the westgate, but our take away order of tom yum soup, soft shell crab and duck curry with rice is always delicious.
Delivered on the expectation of a decent, quick, and convenient lunch.
Like so many restaurants the food is satisfactory but struggles to entice you to return. I would give the chicken spring rolls a miss, unless you really enjoy chicken nuggets in the format of a spring roll.
For the main I had salt and pepper prawns with steamed rice. The size of the prawns were generous but the coating was disappointing. The pepper was the cheapest powdered kind rather than freshly cracked pepper. Nonetheless for a convenience lunch it sufficed adequately. An upscale dining experience won't be found here, but a good spot for a quick bite or takeaway meal in the suburbs.
Our family favourite, we should just have the "usual menu" saved for when we go. This place is like a little treasure in the West, the curries are so tasty and we just love the team of people in this welcoming kitchen. If you haven't tried the coconut ice cream, make sure you try it. Sweet Rice has definitely added value to this little stretch along Millers Road 😍.

Had dinner at this lovely place on weekday evening. The set up is modern and staff who served us was very friendly and attentive. We tried the pandan chicken, Crispy pork belly with chili basil and green mango fish salad. The crispy pork was a let down but the other 2 dishes were delicious! Will be back to try more dishes if I'm at that side of town again.
I always order take away from here when I'm craving Thai. The food is always delicious and they are really quick. The rice is so so good and the seafood dishes are so fresh and yum. Highly recommend but it is pricey for the portions you get. Otherwise everything else is spot on.
Had a lovely dinner here. Monday is usually quiet we were told. But delivery men were busy. We had the crispy pork belly w chinese broccoli, chicken green curry, spicy chicken wings, coconut rice & sticky black rice w coconut ice cream. Food was delicious. But we find the coconut rice and the sticky black rice very sweet. Still all in all: very tasty. Staff are attentive.
I come to this restaurant with my girlfriend almost every weekend since we first discovered it two months ago. The interior is clean and relaxing and the food is delicious! We love the crispy pork with basil and chilli, and all the curries have been amazing. Would highly recommend this place to anyone that loves Thai food.
It's been a while since I last had Sweet Rice. Thankfully it's still the best Thai in the west. Their crispy pork with Chinese broccoli is my favourite, but everything I've tried is amazing. So far we've only done takeaway.
I just wish they'd deliver to us in Altona!
In my opinion one of the best Thai places out there. We've been a regular to this place ever since the previous owners and they even knew us on first name basis. We've pretty much tried all the food on the menu since we've been visiting this place for years. Although the owners did change two or so years ago the quality of the food has remained consistent. Their salt and pepper calamari, salt and pepper tofu, green curry and coconut rice are always my favourites :) And to finish off their coconut ice-cream is really nice, I just request without the chocolate sauce because I that's just my preference. Definitely a place to check out, though we usually order for take outs.
We had a great experience there. Fish with green mango salad was amazing. Food was not spicy so if you are used to spicy Thai food then make sure to ask for extra hot.
We finished our meal with the dessert platter which was nicely done.
Food portion was a little small for Australian standard but I guess they charged a very reasonable price so that make up for it.
Definitely will be back! And plenty of parking out the front

This is a great place, one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. The food is excellent, the service friendly, and the desserts are absolutely delicious. The prices are very fair, and they also do delivery. I've eaten here three times and it has been consistently top notch.
I heard great things about Sweet Rice from a work colleague. We recently started picking up take away from here on the way home. Massaman Beef Curry and the Satay Roti are favourites. Great Pad Thai. Also tried the Beef in Plum Sauce. Parking out front in the service road is very handy.
I really like the pad thai here. Its fresh without being over oily at all. The pad thai chicken is moist and flavorful. You can basically get any pad thai variety from here and get a great meal.
They have a nice (not too spicy) papaya salad that you can request thats not on the menu.
Staff are friendly and very helpful.
They have high chairs here as well. 👍
We had the green curry with beef and the hokkein noodles. Really yummy. The prawn spring rolls were delicious! Would definitely eat here again. Timely delivery service.
Big improvement!! I love the bigger menu. Brand new interior that changed the feeling and atmosphere of the shop. Alcohol and BYO is the bonus for ppl who love to drink. Food presentation is a must. Never expect to see the food presentation like this at any Thai restaurants. Friendly Floor staffs are more professional outfit and works. Good start from entree until impressive end of the night with dessert platter. I can see more customer traffic during the night at the shop. Takeaway is always busy as usual. Recommend for people who love modern looks with traditional Thai taste. Well done guys. Good works!!

Not all change is good. We have been going to Sweet Rice for three years. It is, sorry- it was one of those neighborhood take-away joints that offered great food at very reasonable prices, and a very friendly service. This continued with the latest owners and has been the case since they bought it about a year ago.
Last month it went through a transformation, one can argue about the taste of the new decor, but for me it has to feel comfortable when dining out and sitting in relatively small area with black walls is a bit strange for my taste, that also maybe because we knew and we were very familiar with the old decor.
The main thing that changed though is the prices, the food is excellent as ever after the renovation. The price for the various dishes though have gone up by 20% to 50%! Sure the meals now come on a more modern plate (the appetizer combo plate comes on a pizza/round wooden tray, how is that Thai!) and they are as tasty as ever but price changes of that magnitude just because of fresh paint and a new look is not good enough reason. We are a family of three and we always ordered plentiful, we rarely paid over 60$, last night we ordered less than usual as I got scared of the new prices and we ended up paying $80!
So, while we love the food and the service, we will not be going back very often. I am looking for a Thai restaurant that reminds me of the simplicity, let the food speak for itself type of restaurant that you often find in Thailand, not a western wanna be with pretentious pricing and a wine menu.
I have switched my vote to: I do not like, sorry.

Well Done!. Went there once last year, food was great but I made it again last night, Oh ! they surprised me by their new modern look and food looks superb, taste even better definitely. The transforming from Thai takeaway to a real Thai Restaurant. WELL DONE guys! Ah, huge list of beer and wines also available.

Obsesh. Whenever I want ridiculously delicious food for a good price, no fuss and in the area, I always return to Sweet Rice. They make the best Soft Shell Crab Salad with julienned apple and a tantalisingly puckering yet sweet dressing that just keeps me coming back for me. The pork penang curry is absolutely ace, as is the Massaman if you're after something really punchy with flavours. The unique prawns spring rolls are fantastic, too. Oh and the sake and pepper calamari. But their magnus opus, in my opinion, is, honestly, their COCONUT RICE. I could never have believed that I would nearly finish a whole bowl of rice before any mains came out. It's so deliciously sweet and slightly creamy that I would honestly go to sweet rice just for it! Despite the fact that my favourite restaurant is Chin Chin, this place is so so so close to being as good and even better for price and location! Please never close Sweet Rice! (and open a franchise in Sunshine West please!! :P ) If business ever goes bad, please tell me and it'll be the perfect excuse for me and my friend to come more often!!

The food is really yummy. I especially like the Tom Yum soup, the curry puffs and the salt n pepper calamari. Plus, the guy that works there most nights is really cute!!! A gorgeous smile and very friendly. The entrees are a little expensive, but as a once a week treat, Sweet Rice delivers...
Fresh&Tasty foods. We've been here quite often for take away and always get the same quality meals as before or even better! Although inconsistent, its new renovation and comfy atmosphere when walked in. The best Thai place for a local!

From the outside Sweet Rice looks like an average cafe you would see anywhere in downtown Footscray. There is only a few tables so if you plan to eat here you will need to book ahead. Let me say you had better want to eat here and you would want to book ahead. Two words. THE FOOD. Oh the hours sensational smells whilst they cook your meal, the sounds remind me of downtown Thailand . Did I mention the food. The dishes explode flavour into my mouth, a culinary affair with the guilt of wanting more. We had: prawn curry, pad Thai noodles and fish and green mango's. one the finest tasting Thai I have had in years. Joined Urban Spoon just so I could wrote this review it was so good. Friendly service with a smile and good food. The green mango fish (not on the regular menu) was a standout dish along with the fried pork with broccoli and crispy fried soft shell crab. The prices are on the low side however we felt were a little on the small side - not to worry though as the food was so good we were happy to order more. Definitely worth a visit, even if just for takeout.
Fantastic Thai. I had the chili and basil veggies, without the chili and it was beautiful. Even my 3yo son loved it.

Have passed this place many times but just tried it last week. All the dishes we have tried are delicious (beef salad, red chicken curry and pad Thai). The meat was tender could cut beef with a spoon. The chicken was good quality breast meat. As good as thaila Thai in Brunswick and just as cheap. The look of the restaurant nothing special and no licence or byo and cash only but for takeaway it's great. Can't believe have driven to Brunswick for takeaway when this was just round the corner. Best in the west and cheap cheap cheap

Hopefully the get it all together next time. Went to Sweet Rice on the recomendations of a few of the local food blogs.
The food was great, especially the soft shell crab, and the prices cheap.
But there seemed to be no staff working that night. It took over an hour for our food and there were only 2 other people in restaurant.
We will certainly go back hoping that this was just a one off service shocker.
I was devastated to learn of the change of management. This was the hidden gem of Brooklyn.
New owners have revamped the place somewhat. Much cleaner and more inviting, but most importantly, the food is still good. Perhaps not quite as good and the prices are much higher, but still a gem.
To the previous poster, the old owner and his wife have returned to Thailand to have a child. Not sure if they'll ever be back...
Awesome food for peanuts. The cheap prices are not a reflection of the quality and flavors of the dishes. All dishes have been outstanding. But the roti has to be the best I've had anywhere. Crisp and flaky goodness. Must try.

Top notch. As already stated, the ambience of dining in would leave a lot to be desired, but there is no denying the flavour and freshness of their food. I ordered a beef salad, and my partner had a thai red curry to take away and it was DELICIOUS! Will definitely return for a reasonably cheap friday night take away
They're obviously not trying to impress anyone with their decor or shop front which is fine I guess since the food is yummy. Not the best thai I've had but still nice. I ordered the yellow chicken curry which was swimming in oil but I fished it out and enjoyed it just fine. The potato was delicious and probably the highlight and the rice was perfectly cooked. I also ordered a Tom Yum soup to take away which I reheated and are for tea. The flavours were perfect. I'll definately return soon and try something different.

Got 7 dishes for big dinner tonight and was an absolute Thai feast! Amazing fresh food, with great flavours. Will definitely be getting takeaway there again very soon! Top stuff
Fantastic cheap eat. We had take-away from Sweet Rice last night and the food was delicious. We had the roti with peanut sauce, red curry duck and the crispy pork all great for $27. Now that we have the menu we can work our way through all the other dishes which are even cheaper!
Called in for quick take away on Sunday night. Chose Tom Yum fried rice with prawn and calamari, crispy pork woth Chinese broccoli and roti. Rice had moderate heat with lemon grass tones. Pork was crispy as expected, with accompanying greens cooked to perfection with a hint of chili. Roti was good. Have put this place on our short list for takeaways.
Awesome flavours, so so cheap, best Thai take away in the inner west. Actual restaurant doesn't look much, you would probably never dine in, but delicious to take away!
